Now, at lot of evangelicals are bad converting people, but not many can say they were so bad at it that their son became the most famous real-life bad boy wizard in the world and literally founded a branch of occultism that worships an ancient Egyptian God.

I mean I'm not normally for holding a parent responsible for the actions of their child but that is such a truly magnificent failure to raise a kid the way you wanted to that it just takes my breath away.

Tales From The Vestry VI

On ongoing series of screencaps from my current work placement transcribing Church of Ireland records from the last 250 years.

This is an official request from the 6th April, 1874, for the removal of “such erroneous doctrines” from the church as transubstantiation, the sacrament of confession, and the idea that a physical baptism is necessary to be “born again”.

This was four years after the disestablishment, (which unhooked the church from the state thereby accidentally shafting the Protestant Ascendancy) and Church of Ireland committees throughout the Diocese were still a bit on edge.
