With this recent episode 9 of Hometown Cha Cha Cha, it’s really nice and refreshing to see that the Dushik, the main male lead, is going to therapy and working through his own issues. Usually, in Korean dramas, I’ve noticed the male leads with a tragic/traumatic past will lash out at the female lead and generally be an asshole until he changes because of the ~*power of love*~.
But not with Hong Dushik. He’s aware of his problem and is actively working to heal.
Also, we have Hyejin’s father who admits that he wasn’t the best father after Hyejin’s mother passed away. He acknowledges being an alcoholic and a neglectful parent so he’s trying to make up for it now.
I just really like this healthier mindset for male characters in Korean dramas.
