Then one day a tree fell onto the electrical wires and set her home on fire. “They didn’t keep me safe,” Lee-Payne said of DTE. “They didn’t do the protective measures. They had a line clearance program that’s ineffective.”Her complaint dates back to 2008.

“And I’m not giving up on this because it’s still happening.”Lee-Payne said her concerns go beyond her property. She said people’s lives are at stake. She brought up a list on her phone and spoke of 14-year-old Malik Shelton, who died after encountering a downed power line in 2013.

“DTE knew. They knew about the line. K’Brianna Griffin, 12 years old. She was electrocuted. DTE knew and they did nothing.”

Environmental groups like Souladarity in Highland Park say DTE fails its poor, Black and Brown customers and that the rate increase will do little to improve service for them.

Carlton Clyburn, the City Council President of Highland Park, said DTE does not have a plan to upgrade the city’s power grid in the next 10 years.

“We have fires in the alley. The overgrowth. It’s just not maintained. Poles leaning, poles attached to buildings,” said Clyburn. “And when you talk about taking up the rates, what does that do to someone on fixed income?”

Dorothy White said she used to have government assistance to pay her DTE bills. But that stopped and she got a shutoff notice.

“I got a few people that’s going to help me, so it won’t get cut off … Our lights shouldn’t be able to get cut off for $124.”

It’s not just her bills. White says her mother is facing steep charges, too.

“Her light bill [is] $500 and she is by herself. And she’s bedridden.”  ...

I like live streams but I wish they were not the main form of mcyt content. Or at least not starting to become that. Like it....really is not a sustainable way to do every single smp you ever make. A lot of people don't have time to catch streams and barely have time to watch vods as well (and most people only watch 1-5 streamers. Imagine watching MORE.) LIFE SERIES is a challenge for me and lots of others to get through, let alone several 2-7 hour long livestreams.

Plus some people are gonna stop watching because they're only there for the lore and they'd rather save time than skim through several streams just to find it yk? After a certain point condensing them down into 15-30 (maybe 40) minute videos and making lore summaries is a necessity or your gonna lose viewers. (ESPECIALLY if you have a large cast meaning more characters to impact each other and the plot)

Idk I follow a lot of streamers and there's like...less than 10 who I have ever/would sit through a full stream from them, lore happening or not.

oddly enough, back when i worked at a dollar store Christmas Eve was one of the better days of the year. There was a line around the store the whole time, sure. But everyone was nice and polite and orderly. No pushing, no yelling, no fussing. You wouldn't even know there were customers back there until you turned around the aisle and saw them.

Now mother's day on the other hand...

#I guess it's because most of the people who go to the dollar store on christmas eve are retail workers with retail wages #So they're nice to other retail workers #Also it was closing shift christmas eve. People were just grateful that we were still open and taking care of them #Plus christmas has a reputation for being really stressful for retail workers. I think people wanted to minimize the hassle #But mother's day doesn't have the same reputation. on another note i hope totk wins game of the year bc i think it sends kinda the wrong message for bg3 to win. like totk is also an expansive game with loads to do and creative ways to do it and it doesn’t feel like anything’s missing. but playing bg3 in act 3 it feels like it was rushed. like why was ketheric’s boss fight so fucking cool but orin’s and gortash’s are not? they should be two phase fights as well. and then karlach’s quest being cut? i think cutting the upper city is fine bc that’s a lot of content for one act of the game, but there should’ve been time made to allow dammon to be like “hey i get the same vibes from the steel watch as i do from you but like... a little different” and then you have to find the special infernal metal from them and bam you fixed karlach’s engine. although i think you should probably get a clue for that from gortash’s body bc i still want that scene when she breaks down. and just like. everything about gale’s ending on a good run where he talks to mystra and agrees to give her the crown. i swear there’s cut dialogue bc when did she mention becoming her chosen again? or that she’d heal the orb if he gave her the crown?
