For a Prince still getting situated in his role, his dance card filled quickly, and his feet were aching hardly an hour into the festivities. There was an invigoration in the walls that evening, and everyone was dressed their best, including Reuben in a subtle navy blue shade, his coattails a peacock’s plume of finery now he could afford to dress like the other royals. It was new, pressed && crisp, and extremely uncomfortable as he tried to move smoothly with his dance partner of the hour. Hardly anyone remained on the sidelines, the ballroom full of couples && flirts, a twirl between lovers, a kiss shared behind a fan followed by giggles. Love was the theme of the evening, after all; and as he made his whooshing turns && careful footfalls, seablue eyes kept returning to another bright pair, wrapped in the arms of her own partner. Intentionally, he would travel in an arch so they’d cross by one another, and he’d give a ghost of smile- then they’d be gone again, whirling opposite directions. Reuben was careful to find himself in her circle, feet by magic finding the position to fall into when, for only a moment as the tune changed, partners swapped one down to the left. His hand found hers, the other to her waist, and he flashed a grin - soon, the violin would slow again, and they’d both be returned to their respective partners.

also also copic markers are SO COOL (albeit expensive). at first, i was like... i have no idea how to convey that it is nighttime because i'm so used to just throwing a blue filter on top of things in digital programs. but! i did have a seablue kinda marker and by applying that lightly over everything, you get this niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice dim night effect that i LOOOOOVE

you def could achieve the same effect with any alcohol brush marker and a light hand, but the only brush markers i have that aren't that saturated ARE copics :')

And even whilst his form dissipated, Sleipnir remembered.

━ A boy saying his farewells to an even younger girl. Both torn from their homes to become hostages to their conquerors, never to see each other again. Or so he thought.

Now, returned to this realm and clad in his usual attire, the Lord Commander descends the stairs to the innards of the Einherjar where their prisoner was forced behind bars. His liege graciously permitted him to release her should she truly prove to be the sister he thought long lost, albeit the shackles must remain fastened around her wrists. Unceremoniously, Sleipnir opens the door leading to the various cells ━ all empty safe for one. Shiva's Dominant, awake and alert, less than pleased about her circumstances. As she should be.

For a moment, he simply observes the woman from afar, allowing the barest of hint of a smile to hide his apprehension. Blessed with Shiva's power as she is, there is no doubt that she is from the Northern Territories, and that its blood in her must be strong still. Valisthea breeds not the silver hair that the north does, after all. The door falls closed behind him as Sleipnir steps forth, approaching her with his arms crossed over his chest.

"Our precious bait to lure Mythos ever closer to his destiny, Lady Jill, Dominant of Shiva. Or rather ━ …" He pauses, lips curling in disgust for but a moment at the aftertaste of the name that the duchy must have forced upon her. The name that Mythos called her so familiarly. Never did he get used to the name he was given as a ward of Sanbreque, but mayhap she did. How vexing. Yet he is quick to smoothe the edges of contempt from his features, and he crouches down next to the bars separating them. " ━ Lady Niamh, perhaps?" Her name, her true name, is all but a whisper upon his lips, seablue eyes trained on her. He needs a single spark of recognition, one sign that tells him that she remembers her heritage. Should she be the sister he was forced to part with, Sleipnir knows not if aught will change ━ in him, in her, anything at all �� but he knows well the thought will plague him until this world's end were he to not at least attempt learning the truth.
