No because Catra canonically has PTSD dreams where she's literally being dragged down by the weight of her bad decisions

Was anyone gonna tell me the Shera graphic novel has Scorpia and Adora sharing absolutely brutal and mean lines at each other???
Adora calling Catra the new Shadow Weaver! So explicitly, linking Catra to their abuser of many years, trying to make Catra look and feel as bad as Adora wants her to be in this moment. Cause that would be so much easier than the former friend she’s fighting and seeing love on without her
Scorpia calling Adora out for abandoning Catra! Reminding her that the fright zone isn’t just people abusing and hating each other all the time, that there’s still friendships that Adora left behind when she left. Coming back to the idea that Scorpia wants to be better to Catra than she thinks Adora was to her. Just a great emotional gut punch

Also some goofy Catras

Catra, addressing the squad: And if you have any suggestions feel free to put them in the suggestion box.
Scorpia: But – that’s just a trash can.
Catra: It sure is!

I'm not sure but I THINK you wrote a post about how Catra didn't actually believe Prime is coming, right? Do you still have it somewhere? I couldn't find it
Are you thinking of this scrap?
To expand a bit on the thoughts there:
Tumblr media
The activation of the portal was, objectively, an utter trainwreck. No one - Rebellion or Horde - thinks it went to plan; instead, the portal reality was a giant, waving red flag that the forces trapping Etheria in Despondos are much, much stranger and more powerful than anyone expected.
Tumblr media
So when we start Season 4, Catra's focus isn't on the portal - she knows it failed catastrophically; she isn't expecting anything more to come out of it. Her focus is on taking advantage of the chaos the portal caused, not waiting for help from Big Brother.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(And she's dismissive when Hordak goes off on "Prime did hear me!"; "Great, so -". She does not care about Prime, except as a tool to jolly Hordak along.)
fwiw, I don't think Hordak fully believes Prime is coming here, either. Like. Okay. The thing about Hordak is that he is deeply irrational. He does not, and never did, have a coherent, attainable plan to return to Prime, because that's not a coherent, attainable goal. There never was a path back to grace for him; nothing he could ever do would make Prime un-discard him.
So his fixation here? His desire to believe that something came out of the portal, other than the destruction of his lab, and the loss of the best thing to ever happen to him Entrapta?
Tumblr media
That's the thing he's holding onto to keep from completely collapsing. If that signal hadn't gone through, if he hadn't had even that scrap to feed to his faith? He wouldn't be punishing Catra for her failure, or rebuilding his lab for another go. He wouldn't be doing anything, because he would be gone.
Tumblr media
But nothing he's doing says he really believes it; If he thought Prime was really coming, he wouldn't be sulking in his lab while his army idled.
His signal went through. He doesn't have to give up faith. And that's where his thoughts stopped. Hordak doesn't think Prime is coming next week, or next month, or in any kind of definable time-frame. In Hordak's mind, Prime isn't really coming for him because of the portal at all; he just thinks Prime is coming for him because Prime's been coming for him for the past 20 years.
Tumblr media
Catra uses Prime's arrival as a threat and a prod, not because she believes it; or because she thinks Hordak really believes it.
Tumblr media
She does it because she (correctly) thinks she can make him believe it. That Hordak needs her to make the promise real, to turn it from a vague faith into actionable certainty.
Tumblr media
That she can use that certainty to make him dance to her tune.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(and that she can shatter that certainty when it is no longer useful to her.)

IVE ONLY SEEN ONE PERSON POINT THIS OUT BUT MK TRIES TO PUNCH MACAQUE DISGUISED AS WUKONG BEFORE HE EVEN REALIZES ITS WUKONG. I CAN FEEL THE MK AND SWK FIGHT IN MY BONES. Also can you imagine with like that one art post Mei asks MK who HE wants to be, not a reflection of somebody, not the Monkie Kid, not the Harbringer of Chaos and HE REPLIES WITH HIS REAL NAME I WOULD GO INSANE
I'm like. 85% sure that person was me afasdfafsd. I know I've mentioned it before somewhere!
Because it's like, MK feels extremely abandoned and hurt by Wukong during s2. MK's line of "Fine! Then just leave! At least my friends will never abandon me!" in 2x01 Sleep Bug is VERY telling, and it also makes me sob when put together with 3x10 The Samadhi Fire:
MK: "NO! Mei is my best friend—I'd never abandon her when she needs me! We're heroes! It's what we do!"
And 4x02 New Adventures:
MK: “You don’t know! We’d risk it for sure! I won’t abandon them when they need us.”
MK's own low self-worth combined with Wukong's tendency to leave in the worst way possible, which was only further exacerbated by the Lady Bone Demon's manipulation.
And I think MK's experiences and feelings throughout s2 made him resolve to never make his friends feel abandoned.
But of course, since this is Lego Monkie Kid, it's more interesting than just that—because MK leaves at the end of s4. It was out of fear, sure, but so was Wukong leaving in s2 and at the end of s3. MK does exactly what he set out not to do, making the same mistakes his mentor has, literally going to isolate himself on Flower Fruit Mountain for an undetermined amount of time.
It's things like this that make the question of "Who is MK" so intriguing, because that's who MK want's to be. He want's to be himself. But who is that person?
Is MK just like Wukong? Is he a harbinger of chaos? Is he just a noodle delivery boy? Is he Monkie Kid? What if you remove all those labels? What's left? What is he?
(Plus the whole "I just want to be me—to be MK!" "Yeah well...we all know where that leads." interaction between MK and the curse in 4x07)
And now that we've thrown MK's mysterious past and ominous future into the mix, we are in for a FULL on identity crisis spiral next season.
And well, when it comes down to it, MK was willing and ready to fight Wukong in s2. The lmk writers are fantastic at paying off several arcs all at the same time (see all of 3x10, which literally had the culmination of Mei's, MK's, Wukong's, and Macaque's arcs all in one. It's fucking phenomenal), and this is partly due to the time constraints of the show as a whole, but it's also just damn good writing. MK's past, his identity, the hurt he's experienced across every season—that's all going to come to a head. I also imagine it's going to happen right along side Mei, Wukong, and Macaque's arcs once again, because that's just how this show do. It do insane shit.
I also happen to be a believer in "Samadhi Fire Part 3", in which we get another 3x10 and 4x08 parallel to round it all up, and I am waiting, WAITING, for Mei to repeat MK's words back at him:
“Mei! You have to stop. I know you’re upset, and that’s okay! I know what it’s like to have a power you don’t know how to control—to feel like the fate of the world is in your hands and you have no idea what to do! But you always have my back, and help me through it. We, will figure this out! Together!” (3x10 The Samadhi Fire)
((Which, MK himself is repeating Mei's words back at her, with "But we're going to figure this out." I NEED A POSITIVE FEEDBACK FRIEND LOOP BABY))
But yeah. I'M WAITING MAN. WE HAVE THE SAME BONE FEELINGS.

How long am I gonna be explaining to people, I wonder:
Villanelle is a compelling and relatable character—and so similar to Catra—& her relationship with Eve heart wrenching to watch because she turned herself into a weapon at a young age so no one could hurt her anymore? (And Catra and Villanelle are both power bottoms, and no, that’s not a joke—it’s character info.)
It’s why her backstory episode with her mom in S3, and the final shot of her crying on the train, are so perfect, for all people’s complaints about S3. And then she grew and changed. And Eve came back. And she let someone hurt her. She let someone in.
Because no, most people don’t have mental health scarring to the degree that Villanelle has. (A lot of that—the spy stuff, the Twelve—can be read as a way to personify a general sense of governmental repression anyway.) But there’s something very real about being a soft-hearted person who forced yourself to become a survivor, scrapping from day to day to find any reason to live, and then finally finding someone who understands you and doesn’t want to hurt you.
And for Eve, it was compelling because she was closeted. All the trappings of her old life—from Nico and their flat full of chickens, to her desk job—were symbolic of repressive, misogynistic, comp-het culture as a whole. Villanelle represented burning all of it down: rebellion, anarchy, honesty, freedom.
And it is absolute crap—not to mention WILDLY homophobic—that it would be anything RESEMBLING a “relief” for her to lose that freedom; to say her queerness and desire for more were a phase, and she’d be happier going back into repression.
It’s crap. And it’s one of the many reasons I have to be a writer.
