‘First’ Sights Part 1
Tumblr media
~Based on season 2 episode 11 Eobard meets the reader for the first time. This is loosely based and does have quite a twist on things.~
Eobard x Reader
Warnings- Mentions of mourning lost love, mentions of betrayal, Reader doesn’t really like Barry, mentions of the reader wanting to die
Part 2 Coming tomorrow!
Sometimes it felt like she couldn’t breathe. Other times it felt like there was too much to feel, to feel at all.
After losing her husband because of his own betrayal, to watching him get wiped from existence itself, to Barry Allen's insults and berating, to a new Harrison Wells, and back to the prior issues.
She hated. It’s all she could feel anymore. After all, why keep feeling when you could just stop. If only she could stop the hate.
She hated Eobard Thawne. She hated that he was gone.
She hated Barry Allen. She hated the Flash.
She hated Team Flash. She hated Harrison Wells #2.
She hated living. She hated herself. She hated life.
Despite this, she kept fighting. She kept pushing. She stayed with the team and helped in every way she could.
She helped Barry learn to walk again.
She helped Cisco develop new technology.
She helped Harry get his daughter back.
She helped save life after life, still she felt nothing but hate. Every time someone got hurt or cried in her arms, she’d do anything to help; she’d pretend to feel whatever they needed because if she continued like normal maybe, just maybe, she’d be “normal” again.
She played the game well. She played it well enough that none of them noticed the frigid look in her eyes. Ever since him her heart was vacant. She felt hollow and if anyone were to notice the way she was when there were no eyes on her they’d know what she was.
Everyday she grew harder. More and more roughness around her edges. She was a shard of glass. She wondered what would shatter what was left of her broken soul.
That’s what she was wondering when she got the call.
~
I watched it ring. I always do. I don’t really care who’s in trouble this time, it’s just another thing to do. Another thing to distract me till something else comes to do the same.
It’s a tiring cycle. There was always a way to end this cycle, but I’m too stubborn to give life that kind of satisfaction.
Answering the call, I put it on speaker.
“What is it this time Cisco?”
I hear him sigh shakily, “Um we need you to get here, like now. I don’t have time to explain it, just get here please.”
Before I even answer he’s hung up the phone. I wonder what’s so important he had to call me. They never really do that.
I get in my car and make it to the Lab in 20 minutes. When I walk in I’m met with immediate chaos.
“Where have you been?” Harrison asks, “ Do you have any idea what’s going on?”
I kept walking in as we spoke. “No not really... Cisco called ‘n said I needed to get here then hung up.”
He paused. Stopping me he held me in that spot.
“It’s Thawne, he’s not the same one you remember but one from before he ever came back here.” A beat, “He got pulled in through one of the portals.”
I could feel his eyes ripping through my own. I could feel his hands gently laying on my wrists. I could feel my hands shake in the grip.
My dead husband’s not so dead. I didn’t know what feelings were creeping up on me, but I pushed them down.
I tear my hands away from him with a deep breath. “Why should I care? Hm? You pull me in here just to tell me this-”
Before I can finish he cuts me off. “We called you here because we need you to convince him to help us send him back.”
“That’s stupid,” I say tiredly. “He doesn’t know me. You’ll have a better chance with the Flash asking him.”
“We’re still trying to convince Allen he needs to send Thawne back. And as much as I’m sure it bothers you, he spent years with you enough that he married you.”
“Enough that he lied and faked being someone else? Enough that he threatened to kill me?”
“Honestly, do you think he would have. I can’t imagine spending all that time with someone, being so intimate and not feeling anything.” Harrison says, searching my eyes.
“That’s cause you’re not a sociopath Harrison… Eobard is.” I whisper.
After so much time having all this emotion to hit me so suddenly was making my normal roughness waver. I could see Harrison struggle; he’s never seen me show much emotion, yet here I am slipping up in front of him.
I sigh as he remains silent. “There’s no winning in this… Let’s just get it done with.”
Pursing his lips he nods and walks off.
After a few minutes I get my stuff put up and we head down to the pipeline.
“Why are we keeping him down here? I get doing it before because he didn’t have all his speed back then, but this time… Why doesn’t he just phase through the glass like Barry had Oliver do that one time?” I say skeptically.
Harrison seems to debate what I say for a moment. “I don’t know.”
Not the answer I was expecting from him but I’m not going to argue. I really don’t care all that much. I told Eobard the day he left I never wanted to see him again. I remember he screamed at me;  it was a maudlin plea. Point being, if he escapes then I won’t have to see him. He’ll never even know I was here.
Luck never really was on my side however. Walking into the pipeline the first thing my eyes catch is that yellow suit. I assume the only reason he’s standing so purposefully right now is because he heard Harrison and I make our descent to him.
I wanted to look anywhere else but those blue eyes held something far deeper than I had anticipated. He looked like he wanted to eat me whole. He also, however, looked relieved like a man who was finally able to breathe again.
In my attempt to gain some control over the situation I had decided to bring my tablet. After every big bad we catch I do a psychological evaluation to see where they should get placed. That’s why here and now I decided I would play the same role I always had, even if I'm trying to get different results.
He said nothing as Harrison and I stepped closer to the glass cell. After checking the cell's status I nodded for Harrison to leave the room.
I finally spoke. “My name is Y/n. I’m here to do a standard psychological evaluation, the more you comply the quicker I can leave you alone. Please don’t lie,” I say looking into his eyes, “I can tell when you are. If everything is clear we can begin.”
Eobard looked shocked, his blonde eyebrows raising slightly with a hint of a smile.
“Given you’ve said nothing I’m assuming we can begin.” I blink blankly at him. “What’s your full legal name?”
I look up at him. “You already know it, and if you don’t then why would I tell you?” He replies smoothly.
Sighing I roll my eyes. “This isn’t for me, it's to make sure you know it.”
“Please, this idiotic. I expected more from you.” He complains.
Anger fills me as my thin patience unravels. “If you want to get home Eobard I insist you comply. Alright?” I ask sharply.
“Who said I wanted to go back just yet.” Eobard says inquisitively.
“Why wouldn’t you want to go back, you spent quite a bit of time trying to before, now you don't?” I ask back.
He leans on the wall of his cell, settling his arms into place in front of his chest.
“There’s something I need to collect before I can go back. I get it, I leave. Simple as that.”
“What is it that you want from this time period, Thawne?” I question sighing.
“As much as I’d love to tell you, it’s much too soon for that little one.” He smiles, almost, warmly.
The pet-name made me stiff. I remember when he called me that, he only did after we got married, only did it in private. He always said it’s the first pet-name he ever thought of for me, It made me feel sick.
“First, don't call me that.” As hard as I tried my voice still wavered as I spoke. “Second, you aren't getting anything you want while in that cell, so if you really want whatever it is you’re gonna have to go home without it.” I spoke frigidly.
“This little cell isn’t going to stop me, pet, and you know that.” He moves off the wall, smiling.
“Listen, I don’t really care what you want… I just want you to go away.” I look down. “Clearly you’re coherent enough and aware of your surroundings and actions. That's all I needed to chart, so I’ll go ahead and leave you alone.” I say smiling bitterly.
Before he could say more I turned to walk out. I could hear him call for me to come back, could hear him scream my name, but I couldn’t turn around. The tears burned my eyes. I haven’t cried since the night I had officially lost him. I haven’t cried, but here I was running down the halls trying not to completely shatter on the ground.
I made my way up to the roof when I finally took a breath. Shaking I sent a text to Harrison simply stating, ‘he wont leave till he gets something he wont tell me what it is,’ hitting send I decide to send one more message, ‘be careful.’

2023 Character Wrapped
Rules: share your top 9 characters of 2023
tagged by the lovely @suseagull04 (like, so long ago, but i had forgotten to do it so here i am)
1. Alex Claremont-Díaz (RWRB)
i wish i could explain to you the deep connection i have to this fictional man. he is me and i am him. he probably has been my favorite character since i first found him on 2021 (which is the longest hyperfixation ive ever had, funnily enough) and has actually shaped me to be more confident in myself and all that mushy stuff, so yeah, im just missing a henry kinnie that wants to put up with this mess.
2. Percy Jackson (Riordanverse)
i binge read pjo and hoo these last months, and the way ive become attached to this kid is something else. i want to protect him from anything.
3. Nico di Angelo (Riordanverse)
like with percy, i became attached to him from the moment he showed up, and i would protect him with my life even from rick riordan. he cant do no wrong ever.
4. Henry Fox-Mountchristen-Windsor (RWRB)
henry has specially gained a piece in my heart lately, but i have to be honest, when i first read about him, i thought nothing of him more than the perfect companion and love interest in alex's story. i have to say that getting a glance to his mind through both the bonus chapter and really fucking good fics gave me the insight i needed to comprehend him: his actions, his motivations, and everything in between that made him who he is and made me realize how many things we have in common and how many things i could learn from him, which is always a beautiful experience
5. June Claremont-Díaz (RWRB)
theres nothing i wouldnt do for her. even though i absolutely HATE how i wrote the fic that has june's pov, im still in the process of learning about her and comprehending her more. still, she reminds me so much of my own sister, even though i should kin her more than alex because of the whole sapphic latina journalist who loves her sibling very much, even when they annoy the shit out of you, but alas, im a younger sister and june has so much vibes of my own sister except with my tastes, so yeah, nothing i wouldnt do for her
6. Iris West-Allen (The Flash TV)
in case you didnt know this about me, i had a not-so-recent hyperfixation on the flash (and it can absolutely be seen in my sky high au), and she was half the reason of it. i wish i could put into words how much i fucking love her in every sense of the word. like, i'm in love with her but i also want her to be happy and protected at all costs and i would do anything for her to actually get those things. she can also step on me and i would thank her, but that is unrelated
7. Annabeth Chase (Riordanverse)
what you dont get is that for her i would become like a rabid feral gremlin or maybe that dog that takes a sword in its mouth and starts swinging carelessly. thats how ready i am to protect her from absolutely everything, even spiders, no matter how fucking scared i am of them
8. Imogen Heaney (Heartstopper TV)
yes, i am absolutely biased because the actress also has t1d and my hc is that now imogen also has t1d, but also because i, too, affirmed with my whole chest how i was an ally and totally straight and then slowly realized i was sapphic bc of one cute girl in my friend group that called me out on my bs 💀
9. Barry Allen (The Flash TV)
yes, we dont acknowledge that other version by that other actor. yes, he's last because i had a love-hate relationship with the way he was written. but season 8!barry became one of my favorite versions of him, and i absolutely thank grant (the actor) for the way he made me love the character once again
i missed so many characters that i love but just not like i love these ones. the only one who could easily take barry's place on the list would be nick nelson my absolute beloved, but since flash tv ended this year, it had me in my feelings and i couldn't not put him there, so yeah
DISCLAIMER: i am at the moment reading trials of apollo (im just like 1/4 of the first book) and if somebody spoils me anything i WILL become a rabid feral gremlin, this is your only warning, thank you very much.
anyway, you can consider this an open tag and do this and tag me in it bc i always love to read about yalls favorite stuff. still, no pressure, but im still tagging beautiful ppl so i can read about your favorite characters @anincompletelist @inexplicablymine @read-and-write- @sherryvalli @14carrotghoul @formorewishes

Barry.
Tumblr media
"Admit that you were scared, that you hate yourself. That there's some days you don't think you deserve to live. And the only thing that'll make you forget is by being someone else."
IMDB: 8.4/10
SPOILERS
It's not always that a show can make you laugh your heart out, get you biting your nails and be so mercilessly sad at the same time. It's odd how picking up a show on a whim just to give 1 episode a shot can lead you to skip all your exam studies, not get out of your room for 2 days and look at yourself in the mirror and think that you have made your own life worthless.
I do not like going to the places that shows like this take you to. Was Barry hilarious? Absolutely. It's one of the funniest directions of comedy I've ever seen. The on-going jokes to quick witty callbacks, and even comedic action with zoomed out shots- the show has it all.
Bill Hader as Barry and the director of Barry, the show, might be one of the most telling details to me. The comedy is so on point, but the truly horrifying and dark moments? They are as dark as they can get. You wouldn't expect someone known for his comedic roles to direct such grotesque and dark moments, but here we are. It's funny how comedians are the ones who end up playing the best complex and troubled characters. Maybe it takes a good laugh at the world to truly understand how horrifying it really is?
The show actively calls me out and I dislike it. It's like watching Bojack Horseman, or finishing Oyasumi Punpun. Except that the comedy is absolutely gold. Did I mention the comedy enough times already?
Anthony Carrigan is my new favorite comedic relief. Noho Hank is a memorable character, and I'll never forget how much I loved him saying "what the fuck. they are hugging" during the first episode. Truly glad to have seen him shine throughout the show.
Henry Winkler and Sarah Goldberg may shine among the other stars, but I can't get past how amazing Bill Hader was. His slow descent into madness, portrayal of a military vet, always and always failing to get a hold of the "second chances" he is given.
One of the few 10/10 shows for me. I really would've loved if it ended on Season 3 episode 8, but it didn't. And it took us to an unforgiving ride, a fitting end to every character of the show.
youtube
I still think about this. "Frrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeedom."
And of course, how both of these scenes are from the same show.
youtube
The absolute deterioration of character. I thought he was evolving. What the fuck, Bill?
An assassin pursuing an acting character is a really funny plotline if you ask me. It getting so dark wasn't what I expected. Came for the laughs and I'm leaving even more fucked up.

"your top 15 favourite tv shows can say a lot about your personality!"
i've been tagged by @plavoptice and @aimmyarrowshigh and boy are y'all in for a ride. in no particular order:
diagnosis: murder -- first live action non-soap that was appointment television for me. it ran from 1993-2001 on cbs and i've seen every episode. dick van dyke plays a doctor who helps his son (played by his actual son barry) solve crimes.
the simpsons -- my dad loved this show while we were growing up and we watched every episode until i was in high school.
the young and the restless and all my children -- abovementioned soaps. these are the soaps my mom watched. she would record them on the vcr (they ran back to back on different stations) so she could watch them later without commercials. i have been watching shemar moore since i was 7 years old.
survivor -- for DECADES i watched every episode. i was in 8th grade when season 1 aired. the last 4 or so seasons i haven't bothered watching, though. when people who hadn't been alive when the first season aired started being cast i just couldn't. :|
band of brothers -- since i met a couple of the surviving members of easy company in 2004, bob has held a special place in my heart. it took like 14 years for me to latch onto the show in a fandom capacity. between 2004 and 2018 i would most often view it as i napped on the couch while it ran on spike tv or something as a marathon over memorial weekend, the fourth of july, or veterans' day.
grey's anatomy -- watched a bunch of this in college because some girls on my hall freshman year were superfans. <3 please note i began college during season 1.
the walking dead -- i found the first 3 episodes online in fall of 2010 after a friend on livejournal had tagged it as potentially interesting due to the casting of norman reedus. i didn't know who he was. i don't regret starting the show, but i do regret staying on past season 6, even though there were 2 episodes in season 10 that were like ... exquisite.
deadliest catch!!! -- i fly southwest mostly and there's always a couple of episodes available to watch for free. i just ... idk, it's cold and wet and super dangerous and the captains are so fucking catty with each other. i just like it (still).
law and order: svu -- my comfort show. i have probably seen every episode.
pitch -- we got one season, and were robbed.
chicago fire -- while i watched med first, and i'm currently flying through pd, fire is ... well, it's something.
rescue me -- speaking of fire ....
big love -- i've re-watched just once, it might be time for another.
the wire -- my first watch was later than it should have been.
lost -- of course. the first couple of seasons were amazing, and then i learned that the creators didn't have an end in mind and uh... by the end of season 3 that was very, very clear. i still don't understand the finale.
i'm taking the cheap way out and tagging anyone who wants to. please tag me if you choose to complete this!!

do you ever discuss of you ranking list of the flash seasons yet?? from best to worst?? bc i don't think i've seen any, so i'm curious, hehe.
You know, I don't think I have really ranked the seasons before. It's definitely something that likely changes based on my mood, but some things will stay consistent, like which seasons are my favorites.
So, Flash season's best to worst:
Season 1 - Without a doubt the best season. Everything was really well plotted, there weren't a whole lot of dropped threads. Eobard was at his best as the season's main villain; Barry establishing his friendships with Cisco and Caitlin was so much fun, they all grew to love each other so fast; and Iris discovering herself as a reporter was interesting to see happen. It could have done without Barry's entitlement issues towards Iris (or keeping her unnecessarily in the dark) and the pipeline prison (oh look at all the human rights violations and where are the bathrooms in those cells???) but over all it was a solid first season and set the bar high for the rest of the show.
Season 2 - Second best season. Zoom was derivative of Eobard, but we got Harry who started off seeming shady but quickly turned out to be a traumatized dad who just wanted to save his daughter and the new found family (Team Flash) that he absolutely doesn't want to admit he now loves way too much. It tried new things that didn't always work out and had more dropped plot threads than S1 (and wasted a few perfectly good characters) but there were a lot of really good ideas in there. It could have done with a few of the plots being more firmly tied back into S1 events - Harry's speed theft tech building on Eobard's research into Farooq's powers, Cisco's fears about his powers corrupting him to be more like Reverb tying into his actions with regards to Hartley (when he tortured Hartley, let's not mince words there) - but still a pretty solid season overall and finally brought us Wally West, teasing the possibility of Kid Flash.
The first half of Season 6 - I'm just chopping this season in half here. The first half of this season was superbly plotted. Barry and Iris' grief over Nora's death, everyone's fear and grief knowing Barry would soon be joining her, Cisco wanting to be able to save his bestie when he's lost so many loved ones already, the whole theme about fear of death destroying what makes life living with Ramsey and his blood zombies. The fight over Barry's soul by the Speed Force and Ramsey while Barry breaks down over fake-baby-Nora's crib... and all the parallels between Barry's romantic love with Iris and his platonic love with Cisco.
Season 4 - Harry's obsession with being the smartest and being able to protect the people he loves leading him to endanger himself in the very way he'd find unacceptable if his loved ones did it? So heart wrenching in all the best ways. Seeing how close he and Cisco are, how much Harry's grown to respect and admire Cisco... And while Ralph was at first suuuuuuper annoying, his character growth over the season was really wonderful. He goes from pushing others away (and weaponizing misogyny) to protect himself to being willing to do anything to protect his friends even if it meant destroying himself. He becomes Frost's biggest cheerleader in finding herself as a person (which continues into the next season) and grows to really respect and admire everyone on Team Flash. Cecile really comes into her own as a character here, her transformation from background character to main cast complete. It sucks that the season starts off with Wally leaving - this should have been the season where he earned his place as the Flash and not just Kid Flash. There was so much ableism going on with DeVoe. And the Cisco/Cynthia romance, while cute, was brought down a lot back the fact that the organization she worked for was majorly hypocritical and, well... fascist. There were a lot of pieces that didn't gel well, but it was a major improvement over S3.
Season 5 - I actually really like Nora, even though I get why a lot of people didn't. It was weird having her basically be Barry and Iris' age, though. Would have worked a lot better if she was more like 19~21 somewhere not really a teen anymore, but still very, very young adult. This was also the season where Barry and Iris started acting like an old married couple, emphasis on old. They were acting as if being married meant they stopped doing fun stuff. Frustrating since we never really got a proper dating arc. It was a speed run from dating to moving in together to engaged to not engaged to engaged again to married despite the best efforts of the nazi versions of Oliver and Kara. Honestly, it's been hard to see their relationship as fun at times, but they do get some silly moments here. Also cemented Barry as being oblivious to other people's romantic interests, which has given me so many oblivious arospec headcanons about him over the years. I hated the Iris as a bad mother characterization for future Iris, especially when Iris is actually trying so hard to be a good mom to her adult daughter in the present. Like... no way Iris changed that much. The cavalcade of main villains was bad, even though I saw Eobard coming out on top as main bad guy from a mile away. But the bad guy is Cicada! No Cicada II. No Eobard doing a prison break (though it was a cool prison break, gotta give him props) was just... annoying. The cure was terrible, though and I hate, hate, hated Cisco taking it.
Season 3 - This actually ties for me with S5, but my current mood is that I like it slightly less thought sometimes that's reversed. Flashpoint was a token effort, but it gave us our first glimpse of Wally as Kid Flash. HR was a sweetheart and my fav Wells after Harry. I don't think they ever figured out what they were doing with Julian, but gosh did Barry need a CSI coworker at the CCPD and I was annoyed that it took until S5 for Barry to get another one (his daughter) and she also only lasted one season. *sigh* The OG Killer Frost arc was interesting because it wasn't split personality AGAIN so I was frustrated in S4 when Caitlin's 'not Caitlin but not Frost' S3 ending was retconned into Bruce Banner and the Hulk lite. Savitar had so much promise and so little follow through. Emo Barry's hair in the future was... um... something alright. Possibly the true villain of the season was that hair. Anyway. More ableism with the main villain, but that's basically every season by the end of the show. The plot is almost incoherent at times, but there's a lot of really good character moments.
The back half of Season 6 - Did you think I forgot this half a season I'd chopped off the front half? Well here it is!!! Oh gosh, it was so slowly plotted. Everything dragged out way more than it needed to. They could have fit a whole extra plot arc in there before diving into the mirror arc/speed force issue and it would have been so much better paced. Like, say, Barry actually dealing with the fallout of rebooting the multi-verse? Just a thought? Allegra not wanting Nash to use her as a replacement goldfish for Maya and Nash trying not to do exactly that even as his dad-instincts were screaming 'that's my kid' deserved a lot better nuance than it actually got. Iris' promised storyline isolating her from everyone else while they failed to recognize the fake was a fake was really awful. I realize it suffered technical difficulties due to covid, but it was just. such a let down after that first half of the season.
Season 9 - This actually ties with S7, but I kinda like it more right now so it's rating higher. But sometimes I like it less. S8 is the worst. S9 had some real gems in there. The Rogues team up was delightful, though I wish they'd taken the chance to give Hartley more of his comics character development. But at least he finally got to kiss his boyfriend on screen without the focus moving to Barry's face getting in the way. Red Death arc had a lot of plot holes in it. Iris finally tackling the issue of whether her destiny being Barry's wife ever meant she'd actually chosen anything for herself or just done what she thought she was supposed to. Poorly handled, but I'm still glad it finally got addressed. The four part finale was really representative of the show where the first quarter was the best and the rest was varying levels of suck. Caitlin reached the pinnacle of being side-lined, written out entirely until the final episode to make way for the goddess Khione who came out of the left field, had story lines that would have been 10x better with Caitlin, and then ascended to a higher plane of existence with no real impact left behind at all. What was the point??? Every time Mark Blaine was almost sympathetic, I would remember him throwing a temper tantrum over not being allowed to kill Khione to resurrect Frost. But I actually liked the return of Ramsey, though that absolutely should have been a multi-episode plot. And there were too many cameos going on at once with Dig, Wally, and Oliver - they were well balanced for the time allotted them, but Wally especially deserved more focus time. They had this final chance to officially make Wally the Flash and they wasted it. Oh well, at least I got more Barry/Iris/Eddie headcanon fuel.
Season 7 - The final fate of the Wells characters was insulting. Cisco's send off was insulting, though at least the episode itself had some fun and whimsical moments. The Speed Force being made less of a blue and orange morality type and more humanized made her less interesting. The plot with the forces dragged on. They'd been teasing Godspeed since S5 and he was kinda a let down. Bringing back Eobard to help fight Godspeed made no sense; what would have made sense? Bringing back Nora 1.0 who had actually beaten Godspeed. On her own. After he killed her bestie (and girlfriend???) Lia. Like, they tried to recreate Nora 1.0's grudge match with Godspeed using Bart's trauma over seeing Jay's death but we barely get any interaction with Bart so it just doesn't hit the same. And also, adorable though Bart is... that is supposed to be Barry and Iris' grandson and I cannot ever completely forget that. Dawn and Don are the Tornado Twins and we deserved to get them and we never do.
Season 8 - It had the Armageddon Arc and there was no coming back from that clusterfuck. The plot holes were the size of double decker busses. Eobard was enacting three evil plans simultaneously despite them contradicting each other. The introduction of the Negative Forces and the retconning of the Negative Speed Force as no longer being something artificial that Eobard created. Establishing Frost/Blaine as an official couple. And the season itself had Frost dying for Caitlin who then ends the season by accidentally killing herself too. The Bart and Nora episode in the past was cute, though. And getting an actual good-guy version of Eobard was interesting, but the less said about NSF Avatar!Eobard ripping Matt-obard's face off, the better. *shudders* creepy; I skipped out on most of this season, though. So I'm missing a lot of the smaller arcs. I know it had a *lot* of dropped plot threads all over the place though. The thing with Mia being the most egregious.
Anyway, this is generally the order but it can change up more than this and sometimes I also chop up S7 into halves because the two halves suck but for very different reasons. And sometimes I like S4 more than the first half of S6, sometimes I don't. Tonight I didn't. Nothing beats S1, though.

SHARE d20 THOUGHTS
bea you are so kind to me So kind. ok buckle in babes!
ranking d20 seasons by how compelled i feel to do a full scale rewrite picking apart and rearranging the bones
DISCLAIMER: this list is not in order of how much i like or dislike the seasons. i also recognize that in an improv format, especially comedy-focused, people make decisions that aren’t character or theme driven. none of the cast are Wrong for any of the choices i’m going to critique here. that’s just the name of the game. HOWEVER:
1. a starstruck odyssey
ah the reason i’m making this list. aso has SO MUCH POTENTIAL LIKE THERES SO MUCH GOOD STUFF IN THERE!!!!! i just think it failed to resolve its arcs satisfyingly. @cloudmancy and @grasslandgirl (EDIT: and @lichfucker ) have made GREAT posts on norman takamori which i encourage everyone to read and burn into their brains. but also like. the stuff with barry nyne drives me insane i hated that so much </3. why did prillbus choose him. how did the king of brain slugs get in a zoo exhibit. in the wise words of sav:
Tumblr media
AND THE ARC PLAYED SO WELL WITH SID! which, by the way, the warfare whitneys getting remade falls into the same thing of like oh ok. sid dealing with being a keeper of souls didn’t actually matter bc she’s not anymore.
there’s just this aspect of. the random factor was stressed so often and it was so cool and delightful whenever things happened to align and like. the way that it turned out oh norman and skip and barry and marge are all connected to this world ending plot in the end! just felt so against that theme bc it was very clear and obvious where the metahand of narrative was coming in. like it would have been way more engaging and impactful if the wurst really had just randomly stumbled onto saving the galaxy ESPECIALLY bc thats their whole thing! no chosen ones no saviors we are a bunch of idiot mercenaries here by accident!
also loose duke should not have been on the ship they rly beat that one to death early lol
2. misfits and magic
i love mismag with all my heart and soul but that does not mean she is safe from me !!!!! people have beaten to death the centralization of evan in the narrative so i don’t think i have to talk about that but i also think k’s arc could have been a lot smoother. i love the feral princess i think it’s like k taking this thing that’s always been pushed onto them that’s pushed onto them again (aggressive femininity, girlhood) and making it their own but i wish they’d had the time and the space to lean more into that whole thing of like. Taking magic and forming it into what I WANT it to be. Nature AND nurture AND intention bc thats the whole. that’s the season’s whole self determination thing. anyways more jammer more sam!!! would have loved to see more of jammer’s team building i want him to give everyone nicknames i want to see him struggle with his world becoming so much bigger and more complex. and seeing more of sam’s leadership and the way she goes from internet influencer to like irl influence like the scene w her teaching the kids how to mukbang was so good i want more of that. ALSO poly pilot program real
3. a crown of candy
every day i think about the world where we got those four lost episodes. i don’t think it would fix everything but like acoc NEEDS more time towards the end, you can tell something is missing. honestly it’s so perfectly done for the first half and then it just kind of… falls off a tiny bit? there are moments towards the end that are fantastic but i really don’t like how it resolved. i feel like everyone and their mother has talked about liam’s wish and how rough that was (my personal favorite replacement for that choice is for a peppermint tree to grow over the spot where keradin and the pontifex are buried as a representation of the strengthening of magic in candia which might be august’s idea?) but also idk i just feel like cumulous didn’t hit as hard for me. and saccharina is the love of my life literally one of my fave characters ever but her cinnamon arc felt really rushed (which, yes, missing episodes). i just feel like after jet’s death the pacing and themes get so muddy (yes missing episodes yes i know). anyways brennan wishes he had what prince consort calroy doc and sweet religion doc have
4. mice and murder
mice and murder is SOOOO CLOSEEEE but it trips over the finish line. honestly some of it was the dice being fickle but like. there were choices. anyways i said it best when it was airing:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
also i wish vicar ian had more to do. he had some killer moments but he didn’t feel as connected as the rest of the group did yknow
5. pirates of leviathan, fantasy high seasons 1 and 2, the seven aka The Spyre Spot
this is the spot in the list where i run out of specific rewrite energy but they’re not quite in the Perfect tier. honestly pirol is so good SO slept on i literally just wish it had better video quality which is no ones fault. also i wish it were longer so they had more time to get their footing! and fantasy high is classic and very good but there are still some things i would change (fabian in the nightmare forest for one! i hate how he isn’t taken seriously, acknowledgement that penelope and dayne blade were also children groomed by an ancient dragon, i think kristen’s arcs are a little clumsily done, etc). the seven is also delightful and hilarious and its themes are done beautifully but i did not think the combat was done well lol. i think brennan got some bad asks and wasn’t hard enough on saying no, and while again there were some really good moments i think it dragged more than combat normally does but that’s #justmysillyopinion
6. the unsleeping city, escape from the bloodkeep
the perfect seasons. i would not change a single thing, they achieve everything they set out to do and they do it beautifully. and hilariously!
7. shriek week, tiny heist
i liked these seasons but i don’t think there’s enough there to really dig in yknow? like i enjoyed my time but i don’t feel compelled to rewatch
8. tuc2 my beloathed
i’m sorry i just don’t care for tuc2 i pretend she doesn’t exist 💔
@catoptrific and @theamazinggrayson also asked about this!!

AO3 Masterpost
even if we can’t find heaven (i’ll walk through hell with you) - Part 1 of The Shieldmaiden Saga, focusing on Steph Taylor - Eddie’s childhood best friend - as she gains powers from the particle accelerator, and soon finds out she’s not the only one, gaining new friends...and discovering that the accelerator was flawed.
love, you’re not alone (cause I’m gonna stand by you) - Part 2 of The Shieldmaiden Saga and a direct sequel to the above, with Steph Taylor continuing to gather friends, help metas, and build a case against Wells as another meta starts making a name for himself in Central City.
to save the world (with a friend by my side) - Longfic for SyFy’s Krypton, where Adam Strange and his friend Ashley Tanner travel back in time to save Krypton. Currently has 8/11 chapters.
flufftober 2021 - A series of (mostly) short fics I wrote for flufftober 2021, complete at 31 stories.
emerald legacy - An AU spanning from Arrow’s S1 finale, where Oliver was the one who died saving Laurel, not Tommy. In the midst of dealing with Oliver’s death, plus the revelation that Thea’s his sister, Tommy decides to take up Oliver’s mantle. Currently has 2 parts.
of legacies and lies - Alex Thompson, Jack Thompson’s granddaughter, goes on the run after the SHIELDRA reveal, and has to deal with the fact that her entire career in SHIELD has been a lie. Meanwhile Jack and Sarah - his wife - are making sure she’s going to get a fair trial when she reaches the US.
a god’s reflection - Loki’s POV after his initial imprisonment post-Avengers as he thinks about his actions, and regrets that he’ll never really have a chance to make amends because he’ll likely be imprisoned for the rest of his life.
when one door closes (another opens) - On Earth-4 in the 22nd Century, Brianna Thawne (Eddie’s distant descendant and her generation’s Cobalt Blue) takes Sara Lance up on her offer to join the Legends.
now we have (the freedom to choose) - an AU of Legends’ S1 finale. Kendra isn’t the only one dealing with destiny, but Carter too - and since he’s the one who always remembers first, it’s unlikely he’s ever had much chance to be with other people like Kendra has. Featuring a more self-aware Carter and a heart to heart with Sara Lance.
you’ve always been (a part of me) - A Seg/Adam fic set 40 years after Krypton’s S2 finale, where they’ve been together almost as long - and Seg is hit with the realization that he’ll eventually outlive Adam.
speak (and i’ll listen) - a short MonWinn fic set in an AU of Supergirl S2 (the AU being that they’re together, and not Mon and Kara). Winn stresses over not being able to stop Music Meister. Mon does his best to comfort him.
to new beginnings - A Westhallen short fic written for Polyam Shpping Day #14, set in an alternate season 2 and featuring the three of them discussing New Year’s resolutions.
brothers (lost and found) - the first part of Cobalt Blue and The Flash, where Barry Allen and Malcolm Thawne have been best friends for six years, with Barry essentially taking on the role of big brother due to Malcolm’s estrangement from his own brother. When Malcolm gets struck by lightning while trying (and failing) to prevent Barry from suffering the same fate, he wakes up five months later with speedster powers, and unbeknownst to him this changes everything.
doubt (and the bonds of love) -  Another short MonWinn fic, set in an alternate S3 where Mon-El never left Earth. Mon-El has become distant all of a sudden and Winn is determined to find out why.
to live and rise (and hope again) - longfic about Eliana Kent, Clark and Lana’s daughter from an alternate universe, as she experiences a massive power boost, becomes a hero, and joins the DEO, while still dealing with her family’s loss and having to work with two of their counterparts.
the future (is ours) - a short Thallen fic, set in a AU where Iris is the Flash, Eobard got defeated without any casulties, and Barry and Eddie are dating - Eddie second guessing his relationship with Barry after Eobard’s manipulations.
right here (is where i’m meant to be) - A lazy morning Segdam fic set post-canon.
Cobra Kai Mini Rewrites - a series of unnconnected oneshots that are rewrites on certain scenes in the show that annoyed me. Complete at 18 stories.
bad boy (no more) - my collection of Mike Barnes redemption fics, which are all standalone, but have the consistent elements of Mike’s wife Leah and his three children, Sarah, Elaine, and Alex. Currently has 5 stories.
flufftober 2022 - my collection of stories for this year’s flufftober spanning various fandoms. Complete at 21 stories.
the truth (long overdue) - a Spider-Man 2 fix-it fic where Peter actually explains things to Harry instead of rushing off and leaving him alone, and this changes everything.
looking for america (coming through your schools) - the first part of the Nicky Connors, Cobra Adjacent series, which focuses on Nicky Connor’s friendship with the OG Cobras, particulary Johnny. This fic is set on New Year’s Eve 1983, with the six of them reflecting on the year past and being hopeful about 1984.

The Flash Season 5 - Retrospective Review
Well, I finally made it to the Eric Wallace era in my rewatch. The Flash season 5 is in the rearview, but there are still 3 seasons left in the rewatch. I probably won't be caught up until like a month into the new season. In any case, season 5 rewatch was interesting. To me, season 5 is filled with a lot of faults. There are issues with the character arcs with almost every arc. In spite of that though, I quite enjoyed season 5 as a whole. Its definitely a significant uptick from season 4 because it is at least never boring to me.
I think what season 5 got right was tone. The Flash traditionally has always been the strongest when leaning into emotions. Season 3 struggled a bit with the doom and gloom tone, and season 4 especially struggled with the oscillating tone with trying to humorous and then also having some pretty dark elements. Season 5 gets the balance right, being closer to what seasons 1 and 2 were in tone. And a big part of that was the refocus on bonds between family, blood or otherwise. This season felt like the entire Flash family was very much united and at ease with each throughout the season. Obviously the center of the show was the introduction to Nora and her relationships with both Barry and Iris. The WestAllen family dynamic is one of the strongest aspects of the season. It isn't without its issues from a writing POV, but it certainly gives a lot of emotional drama and there are some good arcs for each of the characters and their relationships. Even the side characters have emotional arcs. Caitlin/KF also has a refocus on her family, with both her mother and her father coming back into the mix. Ralph feels more integrated into the team Flash dynamic as compared to season 4, Joe and Cecile have an arc of becoming a working couple together, and Cisco too has a self reflective arc about what he wants with life and about finding love. These arcs largely play to casts strengths and so they are more emotionally involving then they might otherwise be. Even the Cicada storyline is a family based storyline and there is a bit of a mirror reflection between Orlin and Grace with Barry and Nora. I also think the new Wells worked fairly well as he had his own active storyline where he investigated Nora and discovered the Thawne secret.
I also think the humor is a lot more consistent this season than it was in season 4. In season 4, it felt like the cast and writers were overdoing due to the criticisms of season 3 being too dark. Season 5 feels like the humor and heart were more smartly balanced with emotion. Certainly the Elseworlds crossover was one of the funniest crossovers because it really utilized the comedic chops of Grant, Melissa, and Stephen quite well. There are some pretty strong episodes. The show celebrated its 100th episode in this season with 'The Past is Prologue' which was an excellent episode apart from the ending result of the Cicada fight. The scenes with Barry, Thawne, and Nora are excellently acted and play a key role in the finale of the season. It was actually pretty clever. The Time loop episode 'Cause and XS' was also pretty good. The show embraces its goofy roots with 'King Shark vs. Gorrilla Grodd' which was a blast, with surprisingly decent effects for a show of its budget. I feel the finale was quite strong and emotionally moving, with a nice tease for COIE. There aren't any episodes that I particularly disliked this season, despite my issues with certain character arcs.
There are definitely some big issues with the season and the various character arcs. Starting with Nora, who has the most major character arc. While the character is overall likeable, there is an inconsistency in how she is portrayed. While she is a late 20's adult, the characterization often feels like that of someone in their late teens, early 20's. That is sometimes a little grating. She is also shown to be impossibly naive at times. Iris benefits greatly from having moved out of team Flash leader role, even though she is nominally called that a few times. But this season does feel like Barry is back in the role of leader of team Flash as he should be. Its good to see Iris being more of a journalist and establishing the CCC. However, she does have moments towards the end of the season where she again throws Barry leaving her to go into the speed force in his face and not understanding Barry's distrust for Thawne, which makes her seem a bit callous. Cisco's self reflection arc, although well acted, feels out of character for him. I didn't really buy him deciding to let go of his powers because the show didn't really convince me, in this season or the next couple, that he wanted to let go of the team Flash life. I think this story arc was partially because Carlos was thinking of leaving so they made this as a contingency plan but it didn't really work. I liked seeing Caitlin's KF origins gets explored with the re-emergence of Thomas/Icicle but what should have been a multi season arc is wrapped up in 2 episodes. And there is a tease for Caitlin's mother which never panned out to anything. Sherloque has this random romance with Renee Adler which is extremely throwaway. The character also didn't quite have the bonds with team Flash that previous Wells' did. The show struggled at times on what to do with Ralph. I think Sherloque filled the shoes of what Ralph may have otherwise been doing. So it does feel like he is in the background for large parts of the season. He is involved in the beginning, when investigating the identity of Cicada, and towards the end, when he figures out the connection between Thawne and the dagger. In between there are episodes like 'Goldfaced' where he is prominent but there aren't too many of those. Then the show also got into this bad habit of having Cecile constantly promoting realizations due to her abilities. It gets a bit annoying. Joe is absent for about half the season due to Jesse's back injury and he is missed. Barry's character is largely consistent and more matured this season. He does feel like a dad. There are times where it does feel like he cedes the lead character role to Nora this season.
I think the biggest issue with this season though is Cicada. On paper and in theory, a meta human serial killer is a great idea. It makes perfect sense to flip the threat. The idea of Cicada being an uncle who is going after metas due to what happened to his niece is also a good idea. However, the show unfortunately didn't execute the character well. For one thing, the dagger becomes an OP device and it renders team Flash consistently useless against Cicada, barring KF. So again there is a sense of repetition of Cicada constantly beating them and getting away. The show oversells the character by saying that none of the heroes across the multiverse could stop Cicada, which became quite silly given that the dagger is only supposed to work on dark matter. Then there is a Cicada II/Grace, who is not given any depth at all because she really only turns up for the last third of the season. Unfortunately, both Chris Klein as Cicada/Orlin and Sarah Carter as adult Grace/Cicada II, ham it up way too much. The background villain, Thawne, ends up being more compelling, but that is not surprising given that Thawne has been the best villain in the show's history so far.
But overall, despite my criticisms, I think the season overall retains a pretty strong emotional core and at the center of that is Jessica Parker Kennedy, who was just inspired casting to play Barry and Iris' daughter. We saw teases of her in the previous season, but here she is an absolute delight and she looks so much like what Grant and Candice's daughter would look like. Its quite funny to think that she's older to both of them but she definitely doesn't come off that way in the show. Grant and Candice both get to play more matured and emotional roles as parents this season and the WestAllen family dynamic is key to the success of the season. As always, Carlos, Danielle Panabaker, Hartley, and Jesse bring a lot of heart and humor to the table. Tom Cavanaugh now delivers his fourth iteration of Wells, and despite an unnecessary french accent, is great as always and his is at ease when playing Thawne. Its his signature role. Danielle Nicolet blends into the team and is likable. Overall, season 5 is like a 7/10.

So I’m rewatching seasons 1 and 2 of The Flash cause I like to torture myself and relive the days when it was awesome, before it started going downhill but I digress!
Anyway, I just got to episode 6 when he hits Mach 1 for the first time and I was screaming “SUPER SONIC PUNCH BABY!!” right alongside Cisco once again!! I was just so freaking proud!

Malkin, who will turn 35 on July 31, is set to enter the final season of his contract. His agent, J.P. Barry, and Penguins GM Ron Hextall had planned to work on finalizing an extension — a fourth contract that Malkin wanted to be his last, so that he could retire with the Penguins — later this summer. There was no truth to speculation that Hextall sought to trade Malkin during the offseason.
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, Malkin’s closest friend in the organization, said after the Penguins’ Game 6 loss that he would not try to “play GM” and influence management on any decisions regarding the future of Malkin and defenseman Kris Letang, who is also set to play on the final season of his contract. However, team sources said Crosby had already and repeatedly made clear his desire to finish as a Penguin with Malkin and Letang as teammates.
“Sid isn’t playing GM,” one of the sources said. “Mario knows how strongly Sid feels about this. Mario feels pretty damn strong about it, from what I know. The stuff about Malkin and Letang being traded — I don’t know where it came from, but it’s not something ownership ever said needs to happen. It’s not something Mario wants.”
An NHL source not affiliated with Malkin or the Penguins said Friday night it would be “shocking if Mario and Ron didn’t take care of Malkin, knowing what everybody knows now.”
“They love Malkin, always have,” the source said. “He went out and played on one leg in the playoffs? It’s clearly a big-time injury. He risked everything for that team to give (the Penguins) a chance to win. He might have been their best player from what I saw — on one fucking leg!”
…There’s a particular story about Malkin that haunts his mother.
It’s from when he was a child in Magnitogorsk, Russia. The best player — and youngest by a couple of years — on a youth team, Evgeni took a fall during a practice a few days before a tournament. When a casted Evgeni entered his childhood house, Natalia acted as would any mother seeing her youngest child quite literally broken.
She screamed. Then she wrapped her baby in a hefty hug.
“His heart was broken,” Natalia Malkin said.. “His only wish was to play the games. His father wished to alter the cast for Evgeni to play. I would not allow it. Evgeni was never so upset with me. He cried to play. He promised to not get more hurt. It was Evgeni and father against mother. But I was strong.”
And Evgeni was sneaky.
Having successfully begged his mother to approve his attending the tournament to cheer on teammates, Evgeni returned home wearing hockey gear, his injured arm tucked into the jersey sleeve. This prompted another scream from Natalia, one that jarred her son and frightened her husband.
“The dead would hear is how I think it was,” Vladimir Malkin said, through an interpreter. “A strong mother will be at top noise when she is upset.”
After grabbing Evgeni’s arm and pushing up the sleeve to reveal a cast that had been cut to expose his hand, Natalia shot a chilling look at Vladimir before quickly bear hugging a now-confused young boy.
“His father talked of play for your team,” Natalia Malkin said. “This is for the reason my son will play when he should not. I think it’s not to play a game with injury. My husband thinks not the same. Evgeni thinks as his father. I say to Evgeni one day he will be parent and think as mother. This is my wish.”
Natalia and Vladimir Malkin shared that story in June 2013. At the time, Evgeni Malkin was two years removed from attempting the unthinkable — returning to play for the Penguins only two months after surgeries to repair torn medial collateral and anterior cruciate ligaments in his right knee.
Injured early in February 2011, Malkin had started lobbying Penguins trainers to clear him for a return in mid-April, during an opening-round series against the Lightning. He nearly wore out the Pittsburgh medical staff, to the point that playing in Round 2 was dangled in exchange for him backing off from pestering the day before and of Game 7 in Round 1.
“He was impossible,” a former Penguins teammate said of witnessing Malkin’s badgering team doctors and trainers at the time. “Don’t get me wrong, I loved it. You see a guy — not just any guy, that guy — doing everything he can just to get in the lineup; that’s another level right there, that’s the reason I get so mad when I hear this crap that Geno doesn’t care. It’s complete bullshit.
“He might care more than anybody. He cares so much he was trying to play when he had no business walking up and down steps. I’m watching him with the trainers or hearing them say how Geno is just crushing them to let him play, and all I can think is: ‘Wait, could he do it? Because he’s freakishly built. Like, could he do it?’
“I don’t know. Probably not. He shouldn’t have done it, that’s damn sure. But that guy was going to try if we had won Game 7. In his mind, he was going to be out there for the next game. I don’t know how they were going to stop him unless they locked him in his house.
“Tell that story to your buddies in the media — the ones that talk shit about Geno. He cares. Probably too much for his own good.”
Counting the one that drafted him second overall in 2004, Malkin’s known four GMs with the Penguins. Two of those men, Ray Shero and Jim Rutherford, in the past marveled at the degree to which Malkin “cares about our team.”
“I never knew how much Malkin cared about winning,” Burke said. “I love that guy.”

My Top 2021 Ships
Just like that 2021 is coming to an end, which means one of my favorite posts of the year is upon us: Ranking my favorite ships from this past year in TV and movies (that I watched). I look forward to this every year, and feel like there are a lot of new couples being featured this year. You will see some familiar favorites as well. Slight spoilers ahead (you’ve been warned :) So, without further a do let’s do this!
 Crack Ships
Ever since the one year I didn’t include this category and feature Nancy x Ace I have been kicking myself because I felt something early and then it actually became (is officially becoming) something! So, this year I’m including:
Jonathan and Sarah from Superman & Lois.
Tumblr media
I know that Sarah is dating Jonathan’s brother, and that her friendship with Jonathan is cute and a brotp, but I just feel so much chemistry on screen when these two share it and I feel their relationship has the potential to be a strong one romantically.
20. Luna and Matteo (Soy Luna)
Tumblr media
It took me a little bit to get on board the Luna and Matteo train, but once I did I fell hard. I thought the love triangle between Luna, Matteo, and Simon was one where I would have been cool for Luna to pick either guy. (Btw, I have only finished season 1. No spoilers please. Taking a rest before jumping into season 2). I loved Ruggero Pasquarelli as Federico in Violetta, so I was happy to see him on screen again in Soy Luna. His character is very different and while I don’t always love the bad boy trope, as the show grew and he distanced himself from Ambar I liked him more. I think it had to be around the time he officially broke up with Ambar and joined Luna’s team I was sold on him. Definitely when he wrote the song for Luna, which I LOVED the acoustic version. They have such cute moments at school, and the way they joke, and their nicknames for each other. Okay, so I guess I could go on and on about them. I’m just happy that my journey with this couple isn’t over yet. I just want to see some happiness before more drama starts up again.
19. Zoey and Max (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist)
Tumblr media
An anticipated ship from one of 2021′s cancelled shows. I will not get over that Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist got cancelled this year--ESPECIALLY with that finale! I know there’s a Christmas special, but I haven’t gotten the chance to watch it yet, so this placement is strictly from season 2 (which I have mixed feelings about). I was very excited when Zoey chose Max early on. I’m a sucker (…HA didn’t even intend for the irony there) for a friends to lovers romance, and felt Max was more of the underdog in the first season. I feel their relationship was too short/rushed and that maybe it should have been delayed for Zoey to explore her feelings with Simon first. But overall, I liked the cliffhanger at the end and how she came to realize how strong her feelings are for Max. I’ve seen some gif sets of the two of them in the Christmas special and I’m looking forward to seeing more of them.
18. Geoff and Erica (The Goldbergs)
Tumblr media
Geoff and Erica from the Goldbergs are a ship that I jumped on board early in the show, and I am SO happy with where they are now. The season finale of last season was precious, and I loved how the proposal went about. Geoff’s dynamic with the rest of the Goldbergs is one of my favorites, and I think this show does a great job of the brother’s best friend turned boyfriend trope. I don’t think it’s one we often see on other shows (but the Goldbergs does this a lot with Barry’s girlfriends as well. They always seem to be Erica’s friends and I think it’s happened too much. Even though, I know he’s with Joanne now, but she is Geoff’s sister.) It still warms my heart to know these two are endgame (after that episode of Schooled and seeing future Erica in the 90s), but it’s still nice to see the developments of their relationship in 1980-something.
17. Alina and Mal (Shadow and Bone)
Tumblr media
The first of many Shadow and Bone ships, Elena and Mal are one that I enjoyed more than I anticipated. Another friends to lovers ship, there were times when I wanted less flashbacks to them as kids and looking at their identical scars on their hands, but overall I couldn’t wait for the two of them to reunite and profess their feelings for one another. I haven’t read the books, but I know a good amount of people said their relationship was redeemed if not a lot stronger in the Netflix show. They felt that Mal was more well-rounded compared to the novel. As this is something I’ve heard and not read for myself (and I don’t plan on reading that series, although I LOVED Six of Crows...more to come on that), I’m only judging on the show’s relationship of these two characters, which I loved. I’m excited for season 2!
16. Lois and Clark (Superman and Lois)
Tumblr media
Lois Lane and Clark Kent are forever one of my favorite ships. So, there was a lot of pressure on Bitsie Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin when I started the pilot episode of Superman and Lois. Other than the Elseworlds crossover, I hadn’t really seen them in action as I stopped watching Supergirl after season 3. Well, I can say they are fantastic and a welcome addition to the history of Lois Lane and Clark Kent/Superman on screen. I love how this show is set in the future from the other Arrowverse shows, so we get to see the Kent family raise their two teenage sons in Smallville. Their family unit is one of my favorite parts of the show, and I really like how they’re able to keep the core of these legendary characters, while at the same time show them in new situations-such as being parents. They balance each other out so well, and the trust is so strong. I love seeing an equal romantic pairing (and that’s with him being Superman!). You can just feel how long the characters have been together, which is refreshing. I have seriously loved every minute and am greatly looking forward to season two which will start in January.
15. Talon and Garret (The Outpost)
Tumblr media
From #4 last year to #15 this year, Talon and Garret from CW’s The Outpost will go down as one of my favorite ships of all time. This last season wasn’t my favorite in terms of their relationship as it didn’t feel consistent throughout. The pacing was all over the place and there were several times where I didn’t think they’d be endgame. But in the end they were and (SPOILER ALERT) GOT MARRIED! I truly loved the end featuring their wedding, and both being King and Queen of the Outpost. The flashback scenes showcasing their relationship was beautiful and something I am constantly searching for on YouTube for a re-watch. (This show is so underrated, it’s so difficult to find anything with it). As I’ve stated previously, I absolutely love how evenly matched these two are in their warrior status. It’s something I continue to look for in things I read and watch. (They have even inspired me to try my hand at writing a couple like this.) I think I’ll be re-watching the series as whole sometime in the near future.
14. Kaz and Inej (Shadow and Bone)
Tumblr media
Going into watching Shadow and Bone on Netflix, I knew about the love for the Crows as well as the love for Kaz and Inej. After watching the show and reading the first book (Six of Crows), I understand why these two together are so beloved. They are drastically different from each other, and that’s why they work so well. The tension is amazing, and also heartbreaking at the same time. They LOOKS they give one another are HUGE; and I love how in the book we get to read more into Kaz’s thoughts as he’s not a man of many words. Freddy and Amita’s chemistry is off the charts (and I also enjoyed watching behind the scenes clips and interviews with them. You can tell how much they love these characters). I’m so happy that Netflix picked up the show for a second season and I hope that more of the Six of Crows storyline is showcased. I’m worried about the outcome for these two and the status of their relationship in Crooked Kingdom, which I intend to start my year reading. (Please no spoilers :)
13. JJ and Kiara (Outer Banks)
Tumblr media
Another show where I went into it knowing how beloved the JJ and Kiara ship was. So, I was surprised when Kiara and John B kissed early in the first season, and then Kiara was with Pope at the end of the first, and for a good amount of the second. I watched both seasons back to back, and felt my love growing for JJ and Kiara’s relationship as the episodes progressed. The two are often paired up together, and their dynamic is great. As Kiara and Pope became more of a thing, I could feel JJ’s jealousy grow-whether it was a look or how constant he was at bringing up their relationship/how it was going. Then I was totally sold when JJ and Ki helped JJ’s dad leave, and then OF COURSE the above scene in the season 2 finale. I’m very invested in what’s ahead for these two :)
12. Captain Holt and Kevin (Brooklyn 99)
Tumblr media
Captain Holt and Kevin have always been a great ship on Brooklyn 99 and as the show came to a close this season, I knew they had to be included on this list. In the final season, their relationship saw more ups and downs, showing how realistic relationships can be (despite being fictional and on a comedy). I loved how they worked it out, and in the end were stronger than ever. I also feel that we have always seen Kevin in previous seasons, but this year it was more of a focal point in the show’s plot. These two characters will always be Holt and Kevin to me.
11. Nina and Matthias (Shadow and Bone)
Tumblr media
What a rollercoaster it’s been with these two. This is my last Shadow and Bone ship that I’m spotlighting on for this list. While I have enjoyed each of the above ones I listed, there’s something about Nina and Matthias that puts them as my favorite (although, it’s a close list). Once again, I have not read Crooked Kingdom yet, so this is strictly based on the show and Six of Crows. They did give a very accurate backstory for the two of them in the show, and I was impressed how close they were able to get to the book; even quoting dialogue word for word. Their journey is a wild one, and I think that’s one of the main reasons why I enjoy their relationship so much. They’re not supposed to be together or work, but extreme obstacles pair them together and that makes them fall in love. Once again we have an opposites attract trope, which I am here for and think it really works. Shouldn’t be a shock that I’m interested to see what’s ahead of them (and I am worried as they end the book separated). If you haven’t guessed already I highly recommend watching Shadow and Bone on Netflix!
10. Eliza and William (Miss Scarlet and the Duke)
Tumblr media
Miss Scarlet and the Duke was a very early 2021 watch for me as it aired on PBS in January. As an avid lover of all things historical and on Masterpiece, I instantly was invested, and also upset that the season went by so fast. (I know it’s been picked up for a second season, but don’t know if they’ve gotten to filming yet. I hope so.) The show focuses on Eliza Scarlet who is an investigator at her father’s P.I. office after he mysteriously dies in the first episode. Her childhood friend, William (aka “The Duke”) works at Scotland Yard and (at first) does not take Eliza’s detective skills seriously. He’s not the only one as this show takes place in Victorian times and women were not expected to have occupations, ESPECIALLY not something as ‘morose’ as being around murderers and the dead. Eliza and William’s relationship really makes the show. They have a past from childhood, which allows a closeness, but also banter like enemies. While you can always feel the chemistry there, they start to feel it as the first season progresses. (Now you can see why I desperately need a second season.) The last episode was *chef’s kiss.*
9. Wren and Janzo (The Outpost)
Tumblr media
That’s right, Talon and Garret aren’t the only great ship on the Outpost. Wren and Janzo are also one of my favorites and perfectly encapsulate the “pair the smart ones” trope. Wren became a character on the show in the third season, and her and Janzo’s expertise aligned, proving that while, at first, they butted heads, they were bound to fall in love...and they did. Their relationship has always been solid throughout the many conflicts that occurred on the show. I like how much of a powerhouse the two of them are. They are so smart, and so many people look to them for help. I also like the dialogue they had this past season about how she’s a Black-blood and he’s human, and what that means for their children and place in society. I’m upset the show ended before seeing their baby be born.
#8. Gaston and Nina (Soy Luna)
Tumblr media
Another pairing that has warmed my heart this year is Gaston and Nina from Soy Luna. As I mentioned when I spoke about Luna and Matteo, I have only watched the first season of Soy Luna, so I haven’t seen these two date yet. I also know that their ending isn’t satisfying, but I’m going to live in the moment for the good parts to come. Early on I shipped these two. They have so many elements I look for in a couple. They’re complete opposites (especially at the start). Nina is a big introvert and Gaston is popular at school. They had an online relationship without knowing the true identity of the other person, and then Gaston started falling for Nina too! Ah! Still so good as I think back on it. My only frustration is the pacing as the first season is 80 episodes, so there’s times where things get dragged out more than necessary, but they are definitely one of the biggest highlights of the series for me.
#7. Sara and Ava (Legends of Tomorrow)
Tumblr media
Legends of Tomorrow is one of the remaining original Arrowverse shows that I still tune into each week. I didn’t love last season with the aliens plot as it was tough for me to get into, and I didn’t enjoy seeing Sara and Ava separated for such a long time. But there were still so many great moments between this ship as Ava traveled space and time to find Sara, and Sara did anything to get back to Ava. I loved how Ava learned that Sara was going to propose and I am happy they were able to officially get married before the start of the new season. I’m loving seeing them as the Blonde Bombshells, and on screen together at the same time. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: They are both badass, female action heroes, and I’m so happy to see this representation on the CW.
#6. Wanda and Vision (Wandavision)
Tumblr media
Disney Plus’ Wandavision gave us the most Wanda and Vision content in the entire MCU thus far....and I loved every second of it. The show kept you on your toes the entire time as we didn’t exactly know what was going on and who was behind it all. We got to see Wanda and Vision’s relationship, and what Wanda hoped their future would be like. The show was heartbreaking at times, but also gave us so many precious and quotable moments. I absolutely loved their family and don’t want this to be the last we see of them. I wish Wanda and Vision could have more time together, but we’ll have to see what happens in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Maddness.
#5. George and Nick (Nancy Drew)
Tumblr media
These two are too good for the world. Protect them at all costs!
Nick and George are one of the best ships on the CW’s Nancy Drew. (Here’s my first plug: Make sure to watch this show if you aren’t already. It’ll be one of the best decisions you’ll make.) They are such a healthy relationship that we don’t often get to see on TV. They listen to each other, and don’t jump to conclusions causing unnecessary conflict. While the show has only taken place over a short amount of time, their relationship is well paced and feels realistic and what people could hope for (minus the supernatural stuff that happens). I didn’t see them becoming a couple in the beginning, and it is one of the best things to happen on the show. I am looking forward to how their relationship continues to strengthen and progress. We need to see more relationships like this in shows.
Tumblr media
#4. Jake and Amy (Brooklyn 99)
Tumblr media
Jake and Amy will forever go down as one of my favorite comedy couples. While I’m sad Brooklyn Nine-Nine ended this year, I was really happy with the way the show ended and how Jake and Amy’s story concluded. Looking back on the pilot, it’s crazy to think that Jake would give up his job to be a stay at home Dad, but he does it for Amy. For her to succeed and advance in her career, Jake stays home with Mac, but that doesn’t mean his time at the 99 is over. (I liked the flashforward in the last scene.) With this couple we have another opposites attract and enemies to lovers, and it works so well. Not only do they balance each other out, but they have also taken on characteristics of each other--like a real couple. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a great show and Jake and Amy are just one highlight of it.
#3. Nicky and Henry (Kung Fu)
Tumblr media
GUYS! I love these two SO MUCH! It has been months since I finished watching the CW’s new reboot of Kung Fu and just looking for a picture of these two have made me want to go back and watch this first season. Nicky and Henry are the perfect combination, and I am SO HAPPY that she chose him in the love triangle. I was worried for a little bit as he was up against Evan who had history as the ex-boyfriend that Nicky left behind without an explanation, but Henry had so much more to offer and I was ecstatic when the two became official. Nicky and Henry are both strong fighters and warriors in their own right, but when they come together they’re even more powerful. They had sleuthing moments as they tried to uncover the mystery behind the sword and the other mystical weapons. And they look great together, btw. The list of my favorite tropes goes on and on and these two check off so many of the boxes. I was so happy when I first posted about them here, and I found the love for this ship was so strong.
#2. Devi and Ben (Never Have I Ever)
Tumblr media
Where do I start with these two? There’s so much that I want to say. This was another ship where I knew the love for them before entering the show and seeing gif sets made me want to check it out. It was also another love triangle that I thought was well done. While I was always pulling for Ben, I liked how the show created character growth in Paxton. Once again, there’s so many of my favorite tropes with these two: rivals-enemies-lovers, pair the smart ones, the banter, Ben’s dating someone else, but you can clearly see he’s still in love with Devi and doesn’t want to see her upset even though she broke his heart. He calls her David and she doesn’t react like anything is wrong. HIS FACE WHEN ELEANOR TELLS HIM THE TRUTH! And now we’re going to have to see his pining for Devi as she dates Paxton, for real this time. I believe Ben and Devi are endgame as he’s always been there for her, and what Devi needs even if she believes Paxton is. Ugh! It’s SO GOOD! But also slow burns hurt so much!!
Speaking about slow burns that are amazing, but hurt my soul....
#1. Nancy and Ace (Nancy Drew)
Tumblr media
We all knew where this list was headed...right? If not, then you’ve got to be new to this page.
I just love these two SO MUCH. They were my number one pick last year and that was even before the season 2 finale. Now I have even more content to help solidify them in this spot. First, the chemistry between Kennedy McMann and Alex Saxon is amazing, and beautiful to watch. In the early season 1 scenes, it’s hard to see them as platonic as there’s just something that oozes between them in each scene. (1x14 will forever be one of my favorites in season 1 because it was one of the first times we see the two of them investigating and the “I love you too” moment at the computer was just chilling!) In season 2 the crumbs continued to grow and then we get the “I couldn’t lose you” moment and the entire fandom lost their minds. We were beginning to get recognition that we weren’t just seeing things and these two had a future together on the show. Now in season 3 we were left off on one of the biggest mid-season cliffhangers of Ace owning his feelings, and wanting to talk to Nancy, but then getting trapped in an alternate world at the last minute (you know, because these things happen-:)
From the close proximity to the eye contact, Nancy and Ace don’t know what personal space is, and I am so looking forward to the moment when they know their feels are mutual. I long for the times they share the screen together whether that’s investigating something supernatural or having a heart to heart about the future. There’s so many layers to their relationship, and it’s a beautiful thing. I’m happy to be a part of Nace Nation, and for getting here so early so I could watch the love for this ship grow. It’s been a pleasure.
Tumblr media
And so, my top 2021 ships list has been completed! Let me know if your favorite made the list, and of any shows you think I should check out because of their fantastic ships. I’m always looking for more to add to my list for 2022. Till then, I just want to say thank you for all who follow or share a like/re-blog, and thank you to the content creators out there. I love searching for your stuff to share.
Happy New Year :)

I was tagged by @sunny-reys , thank you darling!
rules: list your favorite male characters from ten different fandoms and tag ten people to do the same
1. Sirius Black- from Harry Potter
tbh I have a lot of favorite characters from harry potter, but he has always held a special place in my heart, even when I first read the books
2. Kaz Brekker- from the Grishaverse
ah yes, we love one of our favorite morally grey cane-wielding boys. I love how complex his character and I love how kanej was handled in the books and the show. I was split between him or the darkling but the darkling is my favorite villain not character so there's some clarification. also, 2 words Freddy mf carter.
3. Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield's version)- from Marvel
don't get me wrong I love Tom Holland's spider-man characterization, but I've adored how charismatic Andrew's peter was in TASM 1 and 2. Also his I loved the real chemistry between him and Gwen. Also, they are a source of my internal Bi panic.
4. Leo Valdez- from the Riordanverse
I love my resident fire bender tinkerer. also, I would love to be him so I can control fire lol
5. Zuko- from Avatar, The Last Airbender
speaking of firebenders, we can't forget our brooding crown prince of the fire nation. He had a redemption arc he deserved and tbh he was one of my cartoon crushes.
6. Caspian X- from Narnia
oh come on, did you not expect that I wouldn't include one of ben's characters in this list. (considering my obsession with him I think you did). Anyways I loved his accent in PC but was really sad when they told him not to do it in VODT. But yes Ben Barnes is technically a Disney prince/king so yeah.
7. Charles Xavier- from X-men
He is a charming telepath and tbh we all wanted to read minds and have enhanced intelligence. Oh yea and James McAvoy, enough said.
8. Barry Allen- from the DC universe
Tbh I hate the TV show after season 2 of The Flash, but with that in mind I loved his boyish charms in the first season and he was just an adorable speedster (but I still prefer Pietro lol)
9. Stiles Stilinski- from Teen Wolf
I strive to be as witty and sarcastic as Stiles. Though he is used as comic relief sometimes in the show, he's an interesting person and the only human in the pack
10. Steve Harrington- From Stranger Things
MOMMA STEVE! yes steve is the best mom the kids could have and I absolutely adored him in 2nd season and loved the dynamic that him and the kids have with each other
no pressure tags: @songofpatrochilless @chatnain @aniqua @confuscita @ilovemarvelanne1 @cupids-crystals and anyone one that wants to join!

4. Anne falling into a creek. I’ve done that so many times
5. Anne coming hone covered in twigs and mud and Matthew just smiling

7. The fact that when school isn’t in session, there’s no paper to be had for students

15. The whole flirting thing between Nate and Marilla never fails to make me very uncomfortable
16. Yknow. It’s probably the money they stole from Jerry that’s paying the rent
17. Jerry having a mini heart attack when Anne is in the barn
18. Jerry knowing there’s something off about Nate but being unable to place it
19. Anne’s fond talk of reading seeking very surface level while the scene is interrupted by flashbacks of how it was the only hope, the only shred of happiness she was able to keep in her youth
20. “Reading can save your life.”
21. Anne finding Jane eyre when she had to hold the books as punishment
22. “Look at this sentence, isn’t it glorious!” “Sometimes you’re not very nice.” “What do you mean? Why are you- Jerry!” “No school for me, remember?” “I can teach you to read!”
23. Jerry telling her not to bother and her proceeding to relay the entire alphabet anyways
24. They don’t have any paper so Anne has to teach him by writing in the hay and dirt on the ground

42. Anne looking off into the sea from land and Gilbert looking out to the horizon from the ship deck
43. Only Anne would realize how well loved the gold chapter is
44. Anne’s impulsive and nosy nature is what ultimately revealed Nate’s lie
45. Nate manipulating a child and taking advantage of their trust
46. “How about a dashing hero, named Albert, Herbert, Rupert, Pilbert-“ “Pilbert!? That’s ridiculous! I would never write a story about a boy named Pilbert!” “It’s not like we can’t tell-“ “Well YOU always murder everyone because you can’t figure out what to do with your characters-“
47. Aunt Josephine wanting to read their stories

57. Yayyyyy more marriage drama from the Barry household
58. “I just want to do something that matters for once.”
59. Mr Dunlop really isn’t so bad to me? A crook, sure, but one with basic empathy and way less full of malice towards children
60. Anne making him an apron
61. One specific tell of the lie being the specific repeated use of the phrase “moral quandary”. Most people in a genuinely situation wouldnt repeatedly use that phrase and Nate’s liberal use of it makes him feel scripted which is perfect because he’s a liar using a script
62. Marilla giving Jerry an entire BASKET of pastries for his family
63. Never tell Rachel Lynde a secret
64. $150 PER GOLD TEST????
65. Fun facts from Matthew, most folks in Avonlea make about $300-$400 a year
