here's the video i love this one so much. lewis is being all diplomatic because he obviously can't say what he's really thinking bcs we all know how his words get taken out of context and then seb slides in with "i think that's complete bullshit" and lewis is like "uwu heart eyes giggle thats what i said". idk it just makes me happy, the way seb doesnt give a fuck and the way it makes lewis laugh. bonus for baby ferrari!sharl being there and flustered too :)

i just love that moment so much.

Hey please don’t say Sebastian isn’t hot bc of his facial prosthetics to look like a man with Neurofibromatosis Type 1. I know you wouldn’t find me attractive bc I have facial deformities as well. You might make a post about it if you saw my face in public. You can certainly think he or me is ugly, but don’t voice your opinion. It’s extremely hurtful

Sebastian is making that movie to raise awareness about the treatment of disabled people, he’s working alongside actor Adam Pearson, who has Neurofibromatosis Type 1. And your only reaction is to say “stop this madness” and wonder why he isn’t hot anymore. Please don’t

thank you for bringing this to my attention, anon. i saw the picture of sebastian in A Different Man on twitter while stepping out of work and made what i thought was a silly joke about his looks just based on my own first impression and kind of forgot about it until i read your ask. I didn’t even know anything about the movie itself before i did so, and that’s my fault for not doing my own research on something that clearly grabbed my attention enough to post about it, and for not examining why i reacted the way i did before immediately jumping to make fun of his looks. if i wouldn’t post about someone with facial deformities in real life, then there’s no excuse for me doing so about a movie, especially one rooted in a real life condition like neurofibromatosis.

i haven’t been able to find much information about the movie itself online beyond the basic synopsis, but i tried to find some interviews with adam pearson regarding nf type 1, and found one in particular about his movie Under The Skin with s. johansson, and he talks about how the fear of the unknown causes us to cringe away from or poke fun at differences that make us uncomfortable and how facial imperfections ranging from scars to the tumors caused by nf type 1 have been used as shorthand for evil in film for ages. stating that this was “madness” was definitely a visceral and shitty shitty reaction on my part especially because i made no effort to even know what the film was about and wrote it off as something i wouldn’t be interested in watching bc an actor i find attractive no longer looked so to me in a single photo - which is a discredit to the story itself but also just the purpose of acting and making movies as well, which is not just to see hot people on screen.

i’ve never thought that conventionally ”attractive” features were a measure of hotness, but even that doesn’t take into account people who are born with or develop deformities or traits or disabilities outside of what is still largely considered the “norm” - probably because i’ve never had to consider them before in any capacity more than a vaguely abstract knowledge that they do exist. I’m sure there are more and better resources out there, but it’s late and i didn’t want you to think i was just going to delete the post and then ignore you, so this response acts as a stand in right now for my commitment to do some more research this week and learn more about the prejudice people with nf face - especially from people like me who think they’re making a harmless little joke. I’m not sure if Under The Skin is a good place to start given the main actress, but I’ll try to find some place to watch it or find more of Pearson’s work that might be better for educational purposes.

finally i just want to say i’m sorry to you, anon, for consuming content irresponsibly by not knowing what exactly i was making fun of before posting, and for the hurt i caused you by stating sebastian stan and adam driver weren’t hot because they looked visibly different than usual (whether that be a deformity or signs of aging bc just because someone doesn’t look 30 years old doesn’t mean they’re inherently unattractive). i’ll be more careful with the things i post and next time i see something that makes me uncomfortable i’ll remember this moment and ask myself why i feel that why, and what has taught me to react that way in the first place. I hope you have a good night, and thank you for coming into my ask box and teaching me a lesson.
