Yessss, I love their dynamic because like...

The peace that Fenris finds in the teachings of Andraste and how much they calm him down, and especially because he seems to spend so much additional time sitting in silent meditation with Sebastian, as well as the reading aspect, when they spend time together in the game?

They're really nice parallels to one another because Fenris was enslaved and part of his fury and anger at his position is that like... He hated not being free, but he's still naturally quite a regimented person who likes rules and routine and a regular set of rules?

Which isn't the same as being enslaved or beholden to someone else, but like... He suffers for the lack of structure when he's suddenly his own man, and you can see him struggling to create a new structure for his own life, you know? That's why he drinks so much, why he stays in a dilapidated mansion, part of why he clings onto revenge after revenge, because it's really hard to fucking build a life from scratch, and so any crumb of structure or regular routine is a lifeline for him.

In contrast, Sebastian?

Sebastian is not naturally tended to obedience or following an external structure of rules - he enters the Chantry as a brother specifically as a consequence of having too much freedom and basically letting himself be motivated entirely by hedonism, and even when he goes away from being a Chantry brother and returns to Starkhaven like...

Yes, he likes structure, and he gets a lot of comfort and focus from regular prayer and routine, but he also craves to be the one in control, even when he knows that he should be ceding ground to a higher power.

People find Sebastian preachy, which I think is pretty funny, because he literally isn't at all. He's just openly religious and talks about his religion - he only ever suggests religious stuff to people who already are engaged and asking questions and are drawn to it. People like Fenris.

I think Fenris is really attracted to Sebastian's calm, purposeful energy and his own sense of justice, and Sebastian like, really admires Fenris and really enjoys like, comforting him, I think? And I love that a lot, that they both comfort each other.

For the ship meme; Morrigan/Leliana and Sebris

I never feel super motivated to seek out/make Morriana content, but every time I come across it I'm just like. Yes. This Makes Sense. These girls are obsessed with each other and neither one of them knows how to handle it. Additional point 1: It's especially fun to think about with the context of Ghila in the mix. Like, obvs, Ghilagan is my one and only but I have spoken before about the incredible friends to enemies to lovers potential of Ghila/Leliana. Many thoughts about these three as a terrible gay drama triangle. Additional point 2: This Morriana comic ft lyrium ghost Leliana is INCREDIBLE and lives rent-free in my brain.

SEBRIS MY GOOD FRIENDS SEBRIS (Yes I picked both Basically Canon and Not Really Romantic HEAR ME OUT.) I really enjoy their dynamic, it makes me soft. I'm extremely not fussy as to whether it's romantic or platonic - I just like them together!! I feel like Seb is the only person in DA2 who actually, properly grasps quite how traumatised Fenris is? And treats him with the according care and gentleness and just, augh. I like it. Additional point: queerplatonic Sebris is a concept I enjoy a huge amount, also.

I love fanfic rec lists because it helps keep an author’s work circulating, and for those of us who don’t have a lot of time to dig deep into the tags, it’s helpful to have someone else point out stuff to check out. Please consider: Fenris werewolf au in which Fenris is turned into a werewolf by Danarius and his markings are used by Danarius to control his transformations and make him stronger, which consequencely makes untransformed Fenris more permanently wolf-like. When Fenris escapes he cannot control his transformations on his own, but is determined to learn how to do so because he doesn’t want anyone to be able to control him.

... Then there’s Sebastian who is a totally normal human who has never met a werewolf and somehow befriends the weird man who suddenly appears in town.

He brings Fenris to the chantry once and everybody is like “...Sebastian look at his teeth, they’re way too sharp to be human. And everything else too, his eyes, his nose, his hair, his ears... doesn’t everything about him seem a bit too wolf-like?”

But Sebastian is an idiot so he’s like “no, no, Fenris isn’t a werewolf. He’s just unique! And he’s my friend!”

There are probably werewolf hunters in the chantry too and they all know Fenris is a werewolf because it’s SO OBVIOUS but they can’t do anything because Sebastian is always there to jump to Fenris’ defense.

Fenris, of course, isn’t sure that he likes Sebastian at first, but seeing the seething fury in a werewolf hunters eyes when they know what Fenris is but they can’t do anything about it because of Sebastian, it is so perfect and he loves it.
