Sect leader Jiang! Wei Wuxian
I really love the concept of Jiang sect being ruled by Wei Wuxian without jc bashing or him being dead. Like it could be shared or temporary? Like in twelve moons and a fortnight. Omg I loved that book. Have read it like 3 times already.

part 1
the clothes wei wuxian was "politely" asked to wear for today's ceremony were itchy and heavy, and he really just wanted to take everything off and jump on a lake. but he has a duty to take care - it's his coronation day, after all, it's important.
the noises around him when he finally stepped out of the main manor felt far and muted, like he was underwater. the sun was bright and blinded him for a moment. his heart kept a quick pace inside his chest, his stomach flipping and knotting tightly, making wei wuxian feel sick. nerves, wen qing said.
he bowed to the other leaders and to his elders, right knuckles pale where they were gripping his sword. he received the hair ornament with a serious face, keeping still as they arranged it on his hair.
it was soon over and he sat on yiling wei sect throne as their rightful leader. the descendent of baoshan sanren finally back home, the tree in the middle of the patio, the leader's tree, full of flowers for once after decades.
people came over to him saying their well wishes, asking things, joking a bit, congratulating wei wuxian.
then it came. they came. the immortals from gusu.
wei wuxian got up, jogging to where lan xichen, the currently leader, was smiling politely, almost softly, at him.
"congratulations, sect leader wei." lan xichen said, voice even and deep "it is a good to see the true heir on his rightful house once again. your parents would be proud."
wei wuxian gulped, willing the tears away.
"thank you, sect leader lan." he bowed "it's good to be back home." although he never lived here before now.
wei wuxian opened his mouth to say something else, something he forgot, but was interrupted when lan xichen chuckled behind his long sleeve and used his head to point to the flag a step behind himself.
for a moment, a quick thought about which prominent disciple was holding the flag passed through, but then the cloth was pushed aside and his breath was taken from him because there, with a soft expression and rich robes, was lan wangji.
"lan zhan." wei wuxian said softly, the brightest of a smile blooming on his face.
lan wangji smiled back, a tiny ray of sunshine, and passed the flag to another disciple beside him, before taking sure steps to his lover and kissing him deeply in front of everyone.
ah, wei wuxian thought, i'm finally home.

A slightly unhinged case for jin guangyao knowing about the core transfer while WWX was still alive
Ok. SO. In chapter 101, during guangyin temple, Jin Guangyao clearly knows about the golden core transfer. He uses it to bring Jiang Cheng off-kilter and stab him and simultaneously reveals to wwx that jc himself now knows about the golden core transfer.
I've always wondered exactly when he figured it out. The most obvious explanation is that he pieced it together after hearing about Jiang Cheng asking everyone to unsheathe suibian (also? jgy? how the fuck do you know that? You were already going to/at Guanyin temple at this point! Did you just have people listen in on rumours from Yunmeng and report back to you for that?? Did you tell your spy network where you were going? My whole kingdom for a retelling of this arc from the pov of these random jin disciples seeing their sect leader start spiralling. He's diggin up random tombs? Fleeing the country? And threatening the heir's life?? What was random Jin cultivator #6 thinking of this before Nie Mingjue turned him into minced meat?)
BUT.
The first time I read that line I was like "oh so he's known for a WHILE." I mean, the line "I've always found it peculiar [that wwx never took his sword anywhere]" does indicate he's been thinking about this for a while, but it doesn't have to mean he knew back then. So I absolutely can't say with certainty that my instinct was right. But I DO have some decent canon backing for how he might have potentially figured things out as early as before Wei Wuxian's death. Specifically, after the discussion scene that takens place when wei wuxian does his thing with the wens and dissapears.
Cause, see, Wen Chao would definitely have bragged about Wen Zhuliu crushing Jiang Cheng's core to his father. He killed the current sect leader, and then permanently disabled the only heir. He did it! the Jiang are gone! I bet he was very loud about it until, a few weeks later, Jiang Cheng suddenly strolls up to the battlefield, with Zidian on his finger, cultivation very much intact, looking for Wei Wuxian.
That must've been fucking baffling if you were Wen Chao and/or Wen Zhuliu and/or any other cultivator who was there and definitely saw Jiang Cheng's core get crushed. They must have assumed something went wrong, or he faked having his core destroyed, but we've never heard of something like that happening before, and they tortured him for hours! It wasn't a quick batle where Wen Zhuliu must have missed in haste, he would've noticed!
Now, by the time Meng yao arrives, wen zhuliu and wen chao are both long dead, but that kind of thing would at least still be a source of gossip among the other Wen. The only time the core melting hand ever failed!
It might be something that, say... a very careful spy with a perfect memory looking for information... might pick up on in his stay with the Wen, no?
So, Meng Yao has heard the rumour that sect leader Jiang got his core crushed but somehow managed to... still have a core.
Independantly of his, Wei Wuxian is being really weird and refusing to carry his sword. His primary concern there is wwx stirring shit up, he has no reason to believe these things are connected yet.
But then Wei Wuxian runs off with a bunch of Wen, and before he is cut off, Jiang Cheng tells everyone that after the siege on lotus pier, he and wei wuxian were helped by Wen Qing and Wen Ning! Jiang Cheng doesn't get to say how, which is good for jgy in this moment because he's trying to steer the conversation as such that no one gets mad at the Jin sect for all the war crimes, but even if his goal is for everyone else to forget Jiang Cheng said that, he'd remember it.
So... after the moment where jiang cheng, according to rumours that were contained to the wen, lost his core, he was helped by wen ning and wen qing, who is a really good doctor. And, in canon, had written theoretical proposals on core transfers before, just never experimented on them. Were these available for others among the Wen to read? Did jgy read them? We have no way of knowing. But if he did, he remembers them. Either way, he knows her reputation.
And Wei Wuxian disappeared right round that same moment, only to resurface with his demonic cultivation, at which point he never touched his sword again. Not even in the middle of a dangerous war. Not even when he was public enemy number one and it would do wonders for his reputation if he was seen cultivating the traditional path. When doing so would have made not just him but the 50 people he was shielding safer! if Jin guangyao was somehow in his position, he'd immediately do everything he could to counteract the narrative of beign a dangerous madman who'd left the straight path. Wei Wuxian has been in absolutely desperate situations and still refuses to pick up his sword...
The saying doesn't exist yet, but i'm sure someone like jgy, more competent than everyone around him, is intimately familair with at least the sentiment of "never ascribe to malice what is adequately explained by incompetence" He is helping spread the narrative of Wei Wuxian as a violent madman, sure, but does he believe it? If it makes no sense for wei wuxian, no longer a privileged young master but an outcast, to not pick up his sword again out of arrogancy, the most reliable explanation is that he... can't.
So Jiang Cheng, who got his core melted, got help from Wen Qing, an incredible doctor, after which he coud cultivate just fine but Wei Wuxian, no matter how desperate, never used traditional cultivation ever again...
Hm. interesting!
It's likely no one else in the jianghu outside of the wen even knew Jiang Cheng lost his core to begin with. And Jin Guangyao was never given wwx's excuse of Baoshan Sanren owing him a favor like Jiang Cheng was. He has all the puzzle pieces in front of him and... if anyone as gonna put them together, it'd be him.
And that's my unhinged case for why I believe Jin Guangyao knew Wei Wuxian didn't have a golden core anymore years before anyone else did. He just never told anyone, because why would he?
I think this adds a whole other level to his speech to Jiang Cheng about how everything could've worked out if he'd just trusted Wei Wuxian more and stood by his side. He saw it all play out in real time knowing there was more going on beneath the surface!
Now the really interesting question becomes: When did he figure out Jiang Cheng himself wasn't in on it? Did he piece it together immediately from remembering seeing jiang cheng berate wwx for not carrying a sword, a thing he should've known he couldn't do? Or was it not until later, maybe the fake yunmeng bros fallout, or the REAL fallout when Jiang Yanli died? Or was it still the news of Jiang Cheng going around and asking everyone to unsheathe subian that made him realize that oh my god this stupid bitch had no idea the whole time.

The Laoshi and The Yiling Laozu
by chiyukimei (@chiyukimei)
M, 7k, Wangxian
Summary: Burial Mounds era Lan Qiren and Wei Wuxian had time travelled. - Lan Qiren narrowed his eyes. “You’ve heard of the Patriarch of Yiling before, boy?” Wei Wuxian watched his former teacher with suspicion, “Laoshi, you’ve been there when the sun was shot?” Lan Qiren nodded. Kay's comments: It's rare to find a Lan Qiren time-travels story that still feels close to his character like here. Though he's still a much nicer uncle than he is in canon, he actually needs some time warming up to Wei Wuxian after accidently time-travelling together with him. It's also extremely cute to see how much Wei Wuxian enjoys running around younger Lan Wangji and playing with him. Excerpt: A few days later, Lan Qiren caught sight of Wei Wuxian running alongside Lan Wangji, trying to make him smile and shouting non-stop: Lan Zhan this, Lan Zhan that. He tried hard to not roll his eyes at that childish behavior. God forbid, this man was twenty years old, and still, had no trouble blending in with the fifteen-year-olds. After Wangji left, he stopped Wei Wuxian. “What are you doing?” Wei Wuxian asked with a surprised face, “What am I doing?” Lan Qiren, “Why are you pestering Wangji?” Wei Wuxian bit his lower lip, “I’m not pestering him. I just want to be friends with him.” Lan Qiren, “Why?” Wei Wuxian happily exclaimed, “Isn’t it obvious? He is an upstanding, righteous, and beautiful person. Who wouldn’t want to make friends with him? If he smiled a bit all the sisters would be running after him.” “…Hmm, maybe that’s a good thing he doesn’t smile. You don’t have to deal with all those ladies Laoshi!” Lan Qiren grumbled, “Shameless!” Wei Wuxian, “Hah! That’s what Lan Zhan says, all the time! I really forgot how strict he was even when he was a teenager.”
pov lan qiren, canon divergence, humor, crack treated seriously, time travel, time travel fix-it, burial mounds settlement days, burial mounds ensemble as family, cloud recesses study arc, wei wuxian is so whipped, sect leader wen qing, developing relationship

Nie MingJue has a pet chicken. No, it's not a spiritual rooster. It's not his emotional support animal. It's not smart enough or loyal enough to be anything other than dinner. Which it was supposed to be. Except the cook is not as nimble as she was, and the chicken made a mighty escape from her arthritic fingers. Nie Mingjue came out of his study room to shout at whoever was causing the ruckus and was hit by what seemed like a moulting feather duster on his midriff. The kitchen staff were banished promptly to the kitchen by him. But in their hurry to get away, they left him holding the chicken.
Most people think the chicken is significant to him. Even Jin GuangShang made sure to ask Nie MingJue about his new pet and its extraordinary feats. Nie Mingjue will strangle HuaiSang the moment he gets his hands on the little rat because who else would spread the rumours that a chicken can count up to 10 and sing like an oriole? Who has ever heard of a chicken singing? Damn it, damn it, damn it!
But despite the headache caused by a chicken in his living quarter (spilt ink, upturned rice bowls, feather under his pillow), Nie MingJue doesn't order the kitchen to take away the chicken.
"What do you call him?" Lan Xichen brings out few grains of rice from his sleeve.
Nie MingJue runs a tired hand over his face. He wishes people wouldn't attempt to feed a chicken in his living quarter. Or assume he's actually raising that chicken.
"Nothing. I don't call it anything."
"Nonsense. You must give him an appropriate name. How about...."
"Her."
"Pardon?"
"It's a she." Surely Xichen knows the difference between a rooster and a hen? On the other hand, you can never tell with the Lans.
"Oh. How about Xiao Hua?"
"I am not naming it."
"Come on. You can't raise her without giving her a pretty name."
"I am not trying to raise her, I swear. For heaven's sake, it's a chicken!"
Xichen turns to meet his eyes. "Are you angry? I am sorry, it was presumptuous of me to try to name your chicken."
Nie MingJue growls before stomping away. Tonight, he'll order the kitchen to make stewed chicken.
Except the chicken doesn't really end up stewed. Or boiled or fried or anything else. It ends up with a golden ring on its ankle. Jin GuangYao only smiles apologetically when Nie MingJue asks him about it. People start referring to the chicken as Jingwei, much to MingJue's chagrin. He gets confronted by the sight of a bunch of Lan teen disciples intently staring at the chicken pecking at the ground and taking notes. On the next discussion conference, the Yiling Laozu himself plops down beside him and goes into a rant about headstrong pets and their antiques. Nie Mingjue is so exhausted, he nods along even though he's pretty sure he'd catch fire any moment from the glare Wangji is sending his way. Jiang Wanyin drags Wei Wuxian away after a while, and Nie MingJue sighs. But his relief is short-lived as Jin GuangYao carefully carries the chicken to him.
"She was beginning to get restless," he offers as an explanation.
Nie MingJue wants to scream. Instead, he takes the chicken and starts patting its bony spine.
Damn it, damn it, damn it!

YilingWei Sect AU: Head Disciple
Tumblr media
Click here for previous YilingWei Sect posts.
___
Meet Mo Xuanyu, YilingWei’s beloved and trusty Head disciple.
Him and his mother, Mo Fan, left the family village at a young age, with only the clothes on their back and a pouch of coins. Originally, they planned to travel north from Gusu, where Lanling stood, but an unfortunate encounter with bandits lead them to run into the forests, injured and bloodied.
Wei Wuxian founds them at the border of Jiangling, starved and close to death, and decided to bring them to Yiling, where he helped them build a home and start a new life. Mo Fan thrived with her surroundings, people appreciated and supported her. She taught the children of Yiling to write and read, and later would be a teacher in the BM when the sect is still fresh and new.
While Mo Xuanyu, who showed skill in leadership and the ability to teach just like his mother, was appointed to be the first ever Head Disciple of the YilingWei. (He’s not the first ever disciple, tho.)
He wielded a fan as if it were a dagger, moved liked the wind with a deadly sword, and was adept in all studies of talisman and arrays. Wei Wuxian couldn’t be more proud.
Mo Xuanyu specializes is talisman and rituals, and is the first one to master “Espy”
When Xue Yang comes along, they oddly get along very well. If Mo Xuanyu has WWX’s looks, then Xue Yang has his insanity. Mxy has learned the arts of keeping him in a tight leash.
He’s very good with children, that’s one of the reasons why he’s HD, but also he’s often had the responsibility of entertaining a-Yuan when he was a child, along with other youngs kids WWX picked up from the streets. They all call him “Yu-gege.” A-Yuan though, calls him “Pretty-gege.” And Mxy denied crying the first time.
Idk what signature color to give him! Frankly speaking, the disciples all wear black, gray, and red, the only difference in color are their swords. I always saw Mxy as the red and black guy, just the same as WWX! So it was hard to think of anything else.
I thought of gold because technically he was a Jin, but then his sword would look like Suibian. Then I just started fucking around to find out and thought orange looked pretty actually.
___
Bonus!
The acupuncture needle was crafted by Wen Qing as a preventive measure in case someone was attacked by resentful energy. The needle was made specifically to purge energy out of the body, when inserted into the right junctions and meridans, it can force the resentment out of the body and into the needle itself. (And can be purged in the same needle as well.)
It’s made with black quartz, which in this au, is a great medium for yin energy.
Also, the white markings on the inside of the bow (the circles) are indicators of symbol.
4 marks for the sect leader, 3 marks for the chiefs, and 2 marks for the senior disciples. Though really, it’s not that important, just an aesthetic choice.
Wwx has his in his belt but never wears it, he doesn’t like the idea of being identified by your status. He sees everyone equally and as family and doesn’t see the need to flaunt it.
It makes him feel a bit detached from the others, and he doesn’t like that feeling.
___
Hehe, thanks for reading! I think I’ll continue with these YilingWei Sect ideas. I wanna know if you guys want to know more about this AU!
