Everyone!!! Check out Volume II of this wonderful siddur!!!!
Tumblr media
Siddur Or veShalom is the second volume of Siddur Masorti, a new Sefaradi siddur. Siddur Or veShalom contains the liturgy for Shabbat and Festivals and is a part of our first ever community partnership with Congregation Or veShalom in Atlanta, Georgia.
"The Siddur offers a new, fluid, and gender sensitive translation of the text, a transliteration according to Sefaradi pronunciation, and a running commentary. It seems that one could not wish for more, yet there are many more pearls of wisdom and excitement to be found by the traveler in the magical paths of this Siddur."
It celebrates traditional Sefaradi liturgy, inclusive of a diversity of Sephardi/Mizraḥi customs and filled with beautiful piyyutim (songs and poetry) and psalm texts. But accessibility is at its core, with an unprecedented full transliteration, guiding commentary, and adaptations for use by all genders.

Joyce ✨Maldonado✨
So Joyce has probably Spanish/Portuguese heritage! And apparently it's also a Sephardic surname, so now I present to you my new headcanon: Sir William es sefaradi 🥰✡︎

It was a routine doctor’s visit, so I simply picked a name out of the phone book, one near our Mexico City neighborhood of Polanco.  I suspected the doctor might be (Ashkenazi) Jewish by his surname.  Still, I feigned surprise when he reacted to my description of my research – language and identity among Syrian Jewish Mexicans – by exclaiming “I’m Jewish! ”  From that point on, the focus of our conversation shifted, from my sinuses to his Shami (Damascene Jewish) and Halebi (Aleppan Jewish) patients.  “Let me tell you,” he told me, the seasoned expert instructing the naïve gringa anthropologist.  “They believe in magic,” which made them difficult patients because they preferred to wait and see before accepting the treatments he recommended.  “They believe if they pray enough, God will save them.” They also marry their cousins, he said. I had a thermometer in my mouth so I couldn’t deliver my ANTH 101 treatise on the normalcy of cousin marriage in many cultures.  My husband Josh came to the rescue and told him that such unions weren’t as common as they once were, which was also true, so I nodded my endorsement.

Ok, guys, I need recommendations.
So, I love my arm hair. The thing is I also love shaved arms. Once I grow my arm hair, it can make me sad to think about shaving it, though. And thinking about body hair is giving me unnecessary overthinking and anxiety. So I want ur recommendations on some kinda ritual, like:
Maybe shaving when it's hot and enjoying my hair during the cold
Maybe two months of shaving and two months of not shaving
"Shave when u feel like it" won't work. I change my mind 37288181 times a day. Plus, I have no problem with shaving, or "stubble" (I think it's kinda cute actually) and I don't think it's itchy. I would end up never growing my hair.
Anyways, do you guys have any ideas? I'm happy that I managed to love my entire hairy af sefaradi jewish body (though I still prefer to shave my legs) but now I can't decide lol
