#Gamefemerides Hace 22 años fue lanzado en América Shenmue. Un juego de acción y aventuras con elementos RPG desarrollado por Sega-AM2, y publicado por @sega para el Dreamcast. Dirigido, escrito y producido por Yu Suzuki, es el primero de la serie. El jugador controla al artista marcial Ryu Hazuki, buscando venganza por el asesinato de su padre en un Yokosuka de 1980. Combinando exploración de mundo abierto, batallas brawler y quick time events. El nivel de detalle de Shenmue era considerado sin precedentes, con un sistema de día y noche, efectos de clima variable, NPCs con actividades diarias, numerosos objetos interactivos, y varios minijuegos. Después de desarrollar varios juegos arcade exitosos, incluyendo Hang-On (1985), Out Run (1986) y Virtua Fighter (1993), Suzuki quiso crear una experiencia más duradera, y concibió Shenmue como un épico de varias partes. AM2 inició el desarrollo como un RPG de Sega Saturn que sucede en el mundo de Virtua Fighter. En 1997, movieron el desarrollo al Dreamcast, y dejaron la conexión con VF.
