fuuuuuuuuuck just fuck
Kir asking to shoot Camel in the face and Akai's reply just fhsjskskksfj the thoughts that had to fly through his brain at that point and the fact that they gave the line back to Ikeda rather than having it stay as Okiya hits it further home.
Like Akai trust Camel. He thinks Camel has some of the best driving skills. And he also recognizes Camel's guilt for blowing his meeting with Gin and his cover and endangering Akemi. And he's not above using him for it. And here it comes out perfectly.
Here we have Kir who's cover could be blown by Camel being exposed. And he picks Kir who's CIA not FBI over Camel. Even though it's a bet on his part and even though he fully thinks he still can rescue Camel, he picks Kir's safety over Camel.
He has multiple reasons to do so. First Kir is still undercover and he has her partially betraying loyalties and working for him. So part of it is prioritizing any information he can get about the Organization out of her. Another part is she's undercover where he used to be, where he still wishes he could be. He wants his teeth in their flesh and if he can't have it he'll have someone else have it. And to top it all off? Even though he's fine using Camel and trusts Camel and Camel's guilt, he probably still is not happy with him somewhat (bad phrasing but my brain is refusing to feed me the words I want). Camel directly blew his cover, and indirectly killed Akemi. Even if Akai mostly blames himself for Akemi's death the fault in his cover being blown with nothing to show for it is Camel's. He cannot appreciate or like him for that.
So he picks Kir who isn't his own and likely has a slighlty different purpose than Camel who is on his side. He'd sacrifice him before Kir, which I find interesting. Even if he trusts he'll save him in the whatever miniscule percent chance of failure Akai sees in his brain he chooses Kir over him.

"[I have the most fun] when I'm sleeping."
- Enoki Junya, 2022
[Video translation + Facts revealed about Enojun under the cut!]
Event Name: Talking Stand Morinoth (Morikubo and Amasaki's talk show)
Rough Translation:  { Key: E = Enojun, M = Morikubo, A = Amasaki }
E: When do you feel happiest or when you have the most fun?  M: You’re asking us (as the guest)? On the other hand, what about you? When do you feel the most fun, other than when you’re working?  E: What time's the most fun… I wonder what it is…Well, somewhat… M: You don’t drink alcohol either do you?  E: Well, I have the most fun when I’m sleeping maybe.  M, A: When you’re sleeping?! E: Like a (refreshing) 15-minute nap, something like that– Ah, but I’m not conscious at that time.  A: Is that really "fun"? E: Ahh that’s not really “fun” is it… Ah but–I’m not a huge movie buff–but I do enjoy going to the cinema alone. You can momentarily forget about everything while you’re in there.
Revealed Facts:
Enojun's Personal interests:
- is into movies like "Back to the Future", "Drive My Car"; and director Yasujiro Ozu’s works  - loves ramen, but is worried about calories (in Yuuma's radio show he brings up his worries about becoming fatter with age too) - doesn’t drink alcohol  - wanted to be a basketball athlete as a kid - likes teaching children, would read manga and watch shows for children to learn from them - [when teased, Enojun: "I'm not a lolicon!"] - studied to be a teacher for children in university; but pursued a path in the entertainment industry during his second year - would love to have kids eventually, but also values his alone time [Morikubo: “Choose one side already!] - loves theatre and acting till now (prefers acting in smaller and more compact theatres) - doesn’t care much about earning lots of money; more focused on life fulfilment
2. In his youth:
- was in Kendo and Baseball clubs - used to collect Yugi-Oh cards in primary school (gave them all away now to children who were interested)  - parents used to tease that his older brother is the good child, so Enojun must be the "bad kid"
3. As a voice actor:
- told his parents he would become seiyuu in 3 years (made it just in time with a regular role in Beyblade) - originally planned to be an actor, but felt that he won't measure up physically (being a seiyuu was a much more possible option to him)  - used to practice lines from manga during his free time at the convenience store he was part-timing at (and felt embarrassed by it)  - likes the challenge of trying to nail a role (esp at the start when everything is uncertain, and there's potential for everything)  - interested in pursuing a career in cinema, but not right now - praised by Morikubo as being "true neutral" -- he is able to adapt to anything/any side with ease - has thought about quitting as a seiyuu before; if it becomes a "boring" job  - would become an Explorer/Adventurer if he quits -- Amasaki  & Morikubo fully support this venture - The three of them now have plans to go camping + the director teased for them to release an "Adventure DVD" [ngl I'd watch that]

Suzuki Tatsuhisa Talks Behind-the-Scenes of FFXV: Part 6
This will be the second-to-last part of the series! Start from the beginning here; go here for the previous part. Listen along from 18:22–21:34 here.
In this part, Tatsu talks to host Shimazu Shintarou (video game industry expert) and assistant host Kubota Miyu (voice actor and singer) about the final camping scene and why he's glad that a line from it became a meme in Japan.
Tumblr media
Suzuki Tatsuhisa: We did the same thing [see Part 5 of my translations] for the scene that became the 「やっぱつれぇわ」 meme. [T/N: This line, "yappa tsuree wa", literally "it really is hard'' and localized as "(it's…) more than I can take'' in English, became a meme back when FFXV first released because it could be thought of as a response to criticism of the game and because its casual dialogue made it easy to reenact.] We had so many retakes for the camping scene.
Shimazu Shintarou: I didn't know that.
ST: The script for that scene was rewritten a stupid number of times. I don't remember how many times we rerecorded it. Who was there during the recording...
ST: If I recall, it was Miyano Mamoru [voice of Ignis], Miyake Kenta [voice of Gladio], and me. [Kakihara] Tetsuya [voice of Prompto] wasn't there for the recording. At that point, we were discussing when Noct was supposed to start crying. We tried different points, like the beginning, middle, and end, and even specified which lines he needed to start crying at. We decided on a specific line.
ST: I think Mamoru and Kenta-san both said, "That's not where Noct should cry." "I get the feeling, like, I know he's all worked up." "The pause in this line. I'm saying this in the most idealistic way, but maybe it's better to start crying from here. This is the best point to start the waterworks." "In terms of nuance, this is the best point for the tears to come."
SS: Why did you have to have that in mind together? Is it so you know when it is?
ST: It is.
SS: But why? It isn't necessarily the case. The way I see it, the previous take could've been the better one. But when it's like that, it becomes whole?
ST: Whole.
SS: That's so interesting.
ST: What I find fascinating is how actors have this sixth sense. In other words, it's like an athlete being in the zone**. When you're performing on stage…
ST [to Kubota Miyu]: I'm sure you've experienced it while performing live.
KM: Yes.
ST: When you're in the zone, you can get the audience excited by just looking at them. It's like a mysterious point in time.
SS: What's going on here?
KM: [LOL]
SS: It's like there's a common space out here and a wall has appeared between me and that space.
ST: I don't know what it's like if you're looking at it from the outside.
SS: You're right about that.
ST [to KM]: But you get it, right?
KM: Yeah, it happens in my live shows.
ST: Like when everything comes together on stage.
KM: When it comes together... It happens, of course.
ST: It happens in the recording booth, too.
KM: Totally. I experienced it while recording.
SS: Interesting.
ST: I don't know how, but all the timings were meshing with each other. We saw where the timing would be. We all concentrated so hard on it that we were like, "It has to be here." We had that in mind together. Everyone on the other side of the recording room somehow got the feeling that it had to be there too.
ST: "It would be the best right here. Could you do it, Tatsu-san?" was what they said.
ST: So the millisecond before I was supposed to cry, I was told to really adjust my emotions and we recorded the line that way.
SS: That's amazing.
ST: But I was glad.
SS: Should I play it again?
KM: Right? I've never played it, but I feel like playing it after hearing about all this.
SS: I know, I know.
KM: I really feel like playing it.
ST: Yeah. And to be honest, when I heard that line became a meme, I was so happy I could die.
SS: Yeah.
ST: We worked so hard on it. It was the result of all of our hard work. Besides, they didn't pick a line from anywhere before that point. If you didn't work your butt off, you wouldn't be able to hear that line.
SS: You're right.
ST: You'd hear that line just before you cleared the game.
———
I went back to replay half of Chapter 14 just to hear that line again. It was soooo worth it… By the way, やっぱつれぇわ reemerged as a meme in 2019 when the new Japanese era would be named 令和 (Reiwa) and people came up with the pun やっぱつ令和.
**Not me reading "in the zone" and being like, "Ah, yes, KuroBas reference!" (It isn't.)
If you like what I do, please consider tipping me on Ko-Fi! Tips can be as low as US$ 1.

It took a while but Xie lian's voice (Chinese) is working for me. Like yeah there are moments where I'm begging the actor to raise his voice cuz they're supposed to be fighting damn it, but his quiet voice also makes him sound real. He acts a bit silly cuz Archetype, but his quiet voice makes him more grounded. As far as I can tell (I'm on episode 5) he has been rejected and deemed as an annoyance by most people, so it makes sense for him to not want to take much space with his presence aka his voice.
I saw bits of the English dub and yeah his voice is more energetic and outgoing there, basically what it is expected for a character like him, but the original voice is set on him sounding more human than a character. As if he's not putting up a facade for anyone. He's just existing at this point.
Hmmm
