Hey :) I was wondering, how would you feel if someone reblogged your art but also wrote a long comment (about the piece of art) under it? I've seen gifmakers complain about the "essays" written under their gifs and idk what artists think about it.

Hello! “selfreblogs are a fricking PLAGUE” killed me because I always reblog my own stuff and i never thought about it being so bad?

Well, I’m a school teacher so I really need a break from attention seeking people during my free time on tumblr ! I don’t see a lot of self-reblogs on my dash anymore as I specifically check for self-reblogs before following someone new. That’s usually enough for me to not follow them, even if their blog is incredible. :/ I understand why people do that tho : because they crave attention or they doubt themselves and want to be doubly reassured, because of the different times schedules or because they want to promote/sell their art better.

Whatever the reason (they’re not bad reasons per se), I just can’t help but find the behavior itself annoying so I’m avoiding it. Plus, as I don’t follow a lot of people so that’s easy for me to go through all the new posts on my dash every two days and remember specific posts as bookmarks. So when I scroll past the same post 2 times in like, 5 minutes, it confuses my scroll pattern. I need order dammit haha No, but, really, for me, it’s an unreasonably huge and rather unusual pet peeve, but most people don’t mind it, so don’t worry, it’s okay ! ;)

EDIT : found an user script today and Greasy fork which should do the trick and hide any self-reblogs on my dash so I would be able to follow more people !
