5. Describe their cozy night in.

On a deliberate night in (verses just the normal routine), perhaps a night before deployment, they limit the news time. In fact, they don't turn on the television at all. That's for their work brains, and they can read the paper in the morning or someone will contact them if it's urgent.

They either order something nicer than usual and bake dessert, or they take the time to try old favorite recipes out. It's a novelty to not have to rush through takeout to keep working on other things. If they're both in the mood to bake, they listen to short stories on tape or old songs they love as they do the work. They occasionally pause things to add commentary, but for the most part they enjoy listening and doing something productive rather than having to come up with conversation topics.

When they started this, they tried to tell stories about their day or silly things while they baked, but then they just would wind each other up with stress from work, and so they push off stories until dinner or after, now.

If one of them isn't in the mood to cook/bake, or they're dividing their tasks (one makes dinner, one dessert), then while the other is working they will read aloud to them from one of the reader's favorites. They tried to keep to reading the same book back and forth for a while, but they both will read ahead if they get hooked, and then they aren't in the same place. This way, if the person new to the book gets hooked and reads ahead, they can just get to talking about it faster. And be slightly suspicious of when that person had the time.

There definitely are debates over dinner, on a variety of subjects. Half of them are legit, half of them are someone playing devil's advocate to get a reaction or see what the other person really thinks.

After dinner is either time for someone's beloved movie or more reading aloud, as they review the kit of the person heading to the field (almost always Nyx, at this point), deal with basic maintenance tasks for weapons and clothing, even household items (a reminder to come home to the house). They tried to make it straight movie time, but it feels wrong if they aren't being productive in some way, doing something with their hands. By around the midpoint of the evening that something tactile is usually holding the other person in some way.

15. Do they always say 'i love you' before leaving?

Only on the phone, when someone is far away. When there's not much other way to say it. Either during a lull in the conversation or before they hang up.

In person, not usually. A kiss on the hand or a squeeze of it, even just significant eye contact and a dip of the head if there are too many people around, is their affirmation before they leave. That's not to say they never say it, but usually not in the actual moment of departure.

25. Do they have any hobbies they share?

Reading, as you might have guessed. Though the subjects vary between them. Nyx likes narratives, scifi/fantasy that has a moral vision or lesson, mythology, history of people. He likes the why of things, the connections across time. He'll occasionally read philosophy, when it's practically applied. He'll read the occasional mystery because it's fun to connect the clues, but doesn't much care for spy thrillers or murder mysteries -- a little too much like work.

Cor reads, as you might expect, military history, and history of science. Practical mechanics, things like that. A lifelong learner of little things, anything that might be useful. Occasionally dabbles in mythology, but more to figure out the truth behind it rather than the truth later generations read into it like Nyx enjoys. Also romances (trashy or otherwise, the only difference is how much ridicule they get) as a byproduct of passing the time in the Guard as a kid, plus a holdover from trying to figure out what people were talking about with regard to romance.

How Do You Cheer Up/Apologize To Them After Making Them Upset- Lilia Vanrouge

You had never seen Lilia upset before. His adorable smile was placed with a frown and his eyes were stern when he looked at you. You immediately realized you had stepped out of line and tried to say sorry, but he didn't want to hear it and walked away from you. The next day at NRC, you tried to look for him in the classrooms and club room, but you couldn't find him. Sighing, you began to walk outside of the club room before bumping into someone, "ah I'm sorry." You then looked up to realize you had bumped into Malleus-sama, as he looked at you with a soft smile on his face, "It is alright Child of Man, I apologize for bumping into you as well. What seems to be troubling you? You look slightly gloomy." Malleus put his hand on your shoulder and listened to you telling him everything about what had happened yesterday, and making Lilia upset, "I don't know what to do Tsunotarou. Can you help me please?" Malleus smiled and said he would assist you and then he asked you whenever you were sad, what did Lilia do to you. You stared at Malleus, confused and then told him whenever you were sad, Lilia would always pop up out of nowhere, hanging upside down with a big smile on his face, and it never failed to make you laugh. You then realized what Malleus was getting at, and you doubt you could pull that off, but you were willing to do anything to cheer Lilia-sempai up and maybe he would forgive you. Malleus told you there was a tree near the Diasomnia dorm, where Lilia would go to later in to afternoon after classes, and that you could do it there.

You thanked Malleus and began to head over to the dorm and once you go there you spotted the tree that Tsunotarou had mentioned, but you didn't see Lilia, so you put your plan into action and climb the tree depsite nearly falling a few times, but you managed to reach one of the thick branches and sit on it, waiting for Lilia to arrive. After about a few minutes you heard footsteps, and saw Lilia slowly making his way towards the tree, his eyes were down looking sad, so he didn't notice you up on the tree. He leans against the tree and then slides down to sit on the grass, and heaves a big sigh. You put your plan into action and slowly move further out on the branch, so when you drop down your face will be up close to Lilias. You make sure your legs are locked on and then you fall back, and pretty soon your upside down, hair hanging behind you and a big smile on your face. "Why so sad, Lilia?", you said, while Lilia jumps in shock and sees you hanging upside down from the branch and your face right in front of his. "W-what are you doing, and why are you hanging from the tree?!" You blushed and looked away saying that whenever you were sad or upset, he would always pop up and make you feel better, so you decided to do the same thing to him to make him feel better because of yesterday. Lilia just stared at you and then he just burst into a fit of laughter in front of your face, his adorable smile appearing on his face again. While he was having his laughing fit, you started to apologize for yesterday, but Lilia shushed you by putting a finger to your lip, "Not another word, I already accept your apology, you adorable human." He then removed his finger from your lips and then leaned forward to kiss your lips with you still dangling from the tree branch

Nobara Kugisaki: operation prove the Sensei's are dating!!!!!! (Part two)

The next day Nobara comes in guns blazing.

Her first idea is simple, see what Gojo has him listed as on his phone.

"Is that really a thing? Wow you know so much Kugisaki!!" Yuji says amazed. Nobara sighs. These boys are useless.

"Of course it's a thing! See" she showed him her contacts, every single one had an emoji beside it.

"It's common practice to have emojis or cute nicknames for your partner or at least friends! If they are dating I bet Gojo would have him in his phone as something cute."

Yuji nodded sagely. He smiled at the emoji's she had put beside his (🤩) and Fushiguro. ( 😐 ) They even looked like them.

"Why does the smiley face have hearts for eyes beside Maki Sempais?"

Nobara took her phone back.

Getting to Gojo's phone was easy. Yuji asked him what his favourite digimon series was and Nobara grabbed it off the desk. She'd remembered his code because it was the pin to his debit card. This was further information that deeply concerned Fushiguro but he tried not to think to much on it.

"Aha!!" She said scrolling through the lists and then frowning.

"Bangs." Fushiguro read.

"Bangs?!?!? What does that even mean?!?! There's no emojis or even a picture!!! All the names are just descriptive sentences. This one just says bread?!?"

"That's Nanami. He likes bread" Gojo said looming over her shoulder. Nobara shrieked nearly dropping the phone. He grabbed it smiling.

"Why do you have my phone Nobara?" He asked pocketing it swiftly.

"We..wanted to get Geto Sensei's number to ask him what he'd like as a present!" Yuji stumbled. Nobara and Megumi stared at her but then Nobara snapped her fingers.

"Because we missed his birthday! You two are super close, do you know what he likes Gojo Sensei?"

Gojo hummed rubbing his chin.

"See he's tricky, he doesn't have the delicate palate I have"

The trio frowned at that. They'd watched him devour a crepe covered in chocolate syrup that morning and deemed it a nutritional breakfast because it had a strawberry on it.

"He's also got a particular style of clothing so he's hard to shop for there. Ah! Books are always a safe bet. Find a weird book on curses or local history. No guarantee he hasn't read it already though!" He waved his hand.

"Was he always the quiet reading type?" Nobara needled further and Gojo smiled.

"Yes and no, he was always booksmart but he also got in trouble just as badly as I did. It's hilarious he's such a stickler for the rules now when he'd burst out a curse on school grounds even if I slightly annoyed him."

"So the school was overrun with curses then" Megumi said. Gojo ruffled his hair to his annoyance.

"Ah the folly of youth!" He sighed wistfully. "That's very sweet of you to get him a gift. I note I didn't receive a gift from you on my birthday"

"what are you talking about. We definitely got you a gift you just ate the Kikufuku like immediately."

Gojo laughed. "I was hoping you'd believe me and I'd get another gift ah well"

"Why do you even need a gift, you have enough money to buy the whole shop?" Megumi asked.

"Presents taste sweeter" he stated. His phone beeped and he smiled typing a message back quickly. "Speak of the devil! Don't worry your secrets safe with me! Duty calls!" He said and wandered off down the hallway.

Nobara sighed. "Even his ringtone was a standard one. Are you sure they're dating?"

Megumi nodded.

"Did you see them kissing or something?" Yuji said. Megumi went pink.

"Gojo would be a big kisser. He's constantly leaning on everyone I bet he'd be a really clingy boyfriend" Nobara said grimacing.

"No. Just it's the way they are with each other! It's not how friends are...it's deeper than that." He ran a hand through his hair deeply uncomfortable with the way Yuji was eyeing him.

"They always eat at restaurants together"

"So do you and Itadori."

"They're always in each others spaces"

Nobara waved a hand at Yuji leaving against the wall beside Megumi. Megumi took a step to the side.

"They're constantly messaging each other."

Nobara rolled her eyes. "At this rate I have more proof that you two are an item then them and that's an even more ridiculous idea."

"I don't think it's ridiculous! Anyone would be lucky to date Fushiguro!" Yuji exclaimed.

Nobara nodded. "Yeah if they like the silent brooding type but the idea of him dating you is the weird part. You never shut up!" She laughed elbowing him in the ribs as they walked down the hall.

"Well then I'll be a good boyfriend for him then like yin and Yang, I'll do all the talking!" Yuji smiled.

"You can call the waiter over when he's too shy to say his orders wrong!" Nobara and Yuji nodded in decision. Megumi was still pink in the face and apparently had no choice in the matter as he listened to the conversation in front of him, hands in his pockets.

"Anyway! Stage two!" Nobara said pushing the doors to the field outside open roughly.

"Let's observe them together and check out their ~body language~ while Geto Sensei trains the second years!" She waggled her eyebrows for extra effect and Yuji laughed and did it back to her.

Hades

Hades doesn't mind at all your stoic personality, he loves you just the way you are, besides your personality seems to match really well with his own (well, thats what others says) since he is mature and most of the time serious, you two usually are look up at as a couple, saying that you truly are the image of kings. But it isn't like Hades care about appearances, he just care about you and your happiness

However it could be the case that someone doesn't really likes you, maybe becouse they think you don't deserve him if you aren't going to apreciate him, but is better that Hades doesn't get to know that someone actually think this or else he will get really mad, he isn't someone who recurre to violence but he name alone intimidates people, so, even that he just scold that person for thinking such things (even if you don't mind) that person will never dare to say something like that again

He is recognized and admired by all the gods, but the way you admire him is new, is completely different from the others, yours is more discreet and almost unnoticible, people could bet that you don't think much of him, but he is observant and really intelligent of course he will notice it, maybe not inmediatly but he does

He has never doubt that you love him, but the intensity of you love for him actually flattered him. He could be admired and loved by all the gods, but, since you are so special for him (his special someone, his beloved partner) is the fact that you love him so much what make him feel special

He isn't someone who show off but is like he do it without even trying, and he doesn't mind having you around while is doing his usual work, he even invite you over whenever he go to do it or have to go somewhere else

Also, from time to time Hades have really romantic gestures with you, giving you a gift (mainly flowers), compliments or expresing his love for you in a rather poetic way, and every time he does it he notice those little hints of how you really love him, how your eyes widen a little, your cheeks get just a little more pink and a smile threatening to appear

Although, he is not egocentric so he probably will never know the whole extent of your feelings for him, how with every gestures he have towards you you feel like you can explode, or how just by seeing him work you melt in your spot, not even how you will do (willingly and happyly) anything for him

Thor

There is not doubt why you two are together, you two are the same, always with a blank face and barely expresing something, but at the same time is a mistery how you two end together for this. But others opinion doesn't matter to the both of you, the only thing that matter is the inmense love you two have for each other

He doesn't mind your stoic personality at all, if you don't like expresing much or strugle with it is fine you don't have to force yourself to do it, and he doesn't have problem with telling you this, remembering you all the times you need how much he loves you just the way you are

Thor himself have some troubles when it comes to expresing his feelings, and sometimes he wonders if you love him or if you just get bored of him (he doesn't doubt you though), so he probably ended up asking you right away (thanks to this you will have a lot of communication between the two of you)

He probably won't notice the inmense love and admiration you have for him, he knows you love him yes, but he doesn't know at what extent that loves is. Is more probably that it will be others gods who actually notice it, and even so they will just think that they are just imagining things since you didn't seem to be that type

When he get to know this (maybe someone told him or he just start noticing it, or maybe even it was you who tell him) he will take some time to think about it, again is becouse you doesn't seem the type to get so intense for someone, he will have a hard time to actually accept this (however that won't change anything, not the way he sees you and neither your relationship)

He isn't someone who show off and still that doesn't stop you from looking at him like he is the most amazing person in the whole universe, and with time he will start noticing the way you look at him and everytime he catch you staring at him he laugh softly and pet your head gently or hug you, sometimes he even gives you a soft kiss in the head. You make him feel like he actually is that special

If you like to be by his side all the time and even follow him around he won't mind it too much, he loves spending time with you too, he was used to feel apathy for not having an opponent but you bring happines to his days, he adores you so much that he just cannot say no to you

Jack the Ripper

The contrast you two have is really big and obvious, he is a gentelman, poetic and eloquent while you are stoic and barely express something if isn't need it, but that doesn't mean he doesn't love you, even if you don't express it he know you love him, and he loves you with the same intensity (well, maybe not the same but can be compared)

It wasn't difficult for him to notice your feelings for him, even if you don't express much he can see your true colors and he see nothing but love, happines and admiration, and this makes him feel really loved and he likes this feeling

The first time he notice the intensity of your feelings towards him he didn't know how to react, he have seen people with bright colors but not with this intensity (probably just his mother, or Heracles), but with time he get used to always seeing you with this colors when you two are together, and this never fails to make him smile (either a soft smile or, sometimes, laugh)

He notice that you sometimes change between an undying love to the biggest admiration and that makes him really curious, he could pass hours just watching you to find out what exactly makes you feel what, what do you express when he hugs you? what do you express when he says that he loves you? what do you express when you two have some tea together? what do you express when he is reading to you? He wants to know

More than once he had catch you staring at him or how you inmediatly getting cover in bright colors by just the mention of his name or by hearing his voice and that truly amused him, it makes him feel so loved and even like he is someone really special, you never fail to make him smile and even laugh

When he feels pretty flirty he will show of his skills and elegancy a little just to make you flustered (you may no express it in your face but he still can notice it). Besides, Jack is pretty romantic and cheesy so it isn't weird for him to give you flowers or little gifts from time to time

Also, he doesn't mind at all your stoic personality, he fell in love with you just the way you are, so you don't have to try to be something you aren't just for others. Although, If someone say something bad about you for it he won't tolerate it, even if you don't mind he do, and will take care of the problem later

Y'know, since it's 🎃spooky month...💀

I want to share with you all some horror games/visual novels that I greatly enjoy.

(Recommendations under the cut. This will be Part 1 of my recommendations)

Emerald Wasp is a very interesting game. The story takes place in the 1980s and revolves around two men who get trapped in a supposedly abandoned bunker. They discover the horrible truth of what went on there after it was no longer used by the military, and they have a run-in with a former soldier who was thought to be dead after a military operation in the 1960s (I think?) ended in the disappearance of everyone in his squad.

Anyways, my description can't really do this game justice. But I wanted to recommend it for the spooky month. There is a lot of disturbing imagery, so take the time to read the content warnings if you do decide to play it. I highly recommend that you be 18+ to play because of this imagery.

The only thing that I found difficult with this game was the walk controls, which are a little fidgety sometimes (and there is a mechanic where you have to manually use a lighter in your inventory to see sometimes, but things like that are common in RPG maker games, so I didn't find it bothersome.)

Fatal Focus (by the ever awesome Catsket!)

is a psychological horror visual novel (with an emphasis on the psychological aspect) where you move to a small town and you have a hobby in photography. One day you look up some photography events that might be happening in the near future and end up noticing that there will be a photography walk on that day. When you go to the meeting place, you end up being the only person that shows up besides the walk's host: Adonis, who shows you a side of the town (and yourself) that is more disturbing than you might expect.

This is yet another fairly disturbing game, although it is more in the descriptions than in the imagery. There are descriptions of rot, maggots and even cannibalism, but the atmosphere of this game is immensely creepy and beautiful. It's perfect for a late-night spooky story session.

If you like yanderes and spooky atmospheres, then I recommend A Date With Denial

It's another visual novel, and this time you awaken in a restaurant across from a charming, yet oddly terrifying man who calls you his "muse" and claims you accepted a dinner date with him. But you can't remember anything. Depending on the choices you make, you can get one of three endings and even discover how you ended up where you are. Although, the strange man who calls you his muse continues to remain a mystery. (Hey, at least he's cute and shows off some nice cleavage... that makes up for it, right?)

This visual novel is a prequel/spinoff to Batter-Sempai's other visual novels: Be My Muse and Let Me Remind You(this one doesn't have a demo yet). All of which feature the handsome Zecharias Mnemosyne as the yandere love interest.

While I've only played A Date With Denial so far, I really adore Zecharias and I found the concept behind him and these stories to be a lot of fun.

My Ange is still a demo at the moment.

It is another yandere horror visual novel, in which you have lost your job and moved to another city to get away from everything for a while. Unfortunately, your new apartment comes with its own troubles. It's rundown and the previous tenant had seemingly run away, if you are to believe what you've been told. There may also be something very wrong with your neighbor. He seems nice enough, but there's something off about him.

I just really liked the idea behind this one. The feeling of isolation is so good, and Noah is fucking adorable even if he is creepy. I love character designs that include too-large and very dark eyes, especially with the creepy little smile Noah gives. Plus, depending on your choices you can get one of three endings... and all of them really will leave you with a sense of dread. This VN has a lot of potential, so I'll be keeping an eye on it.

Domestic Dread is also a yandere visual novel demo.

It is another VN that centers around having lost some of your memories. Except, this time, it is due to an accident you seem you have gotten into the night prior. Your best friend, Marcelo, claims that your boyfriend had nearly killed you and he must pay for it.

The manipulation in this one is very well done. Marcelo is charming, and handsome, and you can't fully remember him or your boyfriend... so it's very difficult for you to make sound decisions.

This is also another VN with multiple endings, and at least one of them is pretty damn gruesome. I recommend reading the content warnings. Anyhow, that is Part One of my spooky/horror games recommendations for October. I will mostly try to recommend indie games, although I may let nostalgia take over and pop in a couple of old PS1/PS2 games in there, too.

Everybody Makes Mistakes (Kaoru x Male!Reader)

Reader POV

I can't believe I let them drag me here again. Everyday those trouble making twins drag me to music room 3 before the host club even starts. But I suppose since it bothers their fangirls so much it doesn't bother me too much. "So, what do you think (Y/N)?" Hikaru's voice snaps me out of my thoughts.

"Huh, what?" was my oh so intelligent reply.

"I said that I should flirt with you when the guests are here so Kaoru starts crying and then I comfort him, maybe even go for an almost brush of the lips, you know, for the act. What do you think?". Huh. How did I miss all that? But I don't want Hikaru flirting with me, even for an act, I think of him as a brother that's just creepy. Kaoru on the other hand....

"How about Kaoru flirts with me and then you get all jealous and try to 'stake your claim' so to speak, the fangirls love a jealous Hikaru." Well that part is true. Did I forget to mention that the twins let me help decide their twincest act with them. Yeah, the perks of being their best friend.

"Yeah that sounds better. I mean they do love a jealous you, Hikaru." Kaoru agreed with me.

"Yeah, your right."

"Remind me again why I help with your act." I ask sarcastically. "Oh yeah, because your hopeless without me." I continued with a cheeky smile and a wink.

"Well, you were the one to suggest that Kaoru be the sub." Hikaru answered.

"Only because he is the only one of you two that is cute enough to pull it off." I laughed out my reply. This only causes Kaoru to blush and Hikaru to laugh his ass off.

Once we all calm down, Hikaru asks to speak to me in private. I agree and we walk over to an empty couch near the corner. "So, what's up?" I ask.

"Well (Y/N), you know how you've been helping me come to terms with my feelings for Haruhi?"

"Yeah, how could I forget, you’re the most stubborn person I know. It took about two months before I even got you to realise your feeling weren't brotherly." I spoke teasingly.

"Yeah, Yeah, I get it! Look, the point is...I need advice on how to ask her out on a date."

*Meanwhile with Kaoru*

I watched my brother ask (Y/N) to talk privately then lead him to a spare couch. They were talking and laughing, but then things seem to get less cheerful and more serious. For some reason this caused me to become angry.

"Hey, Kao-chan!" I heard a familiar voice chirp. I turned to see Hunny-sempai and Mori-sempai standing beside me.

"Hey Hunny-sempai, Mori-sempai." I say flatly. I see Hunny's grin falter as he looked in the direction of Hikaru and (Y/N).

"You know, jealousy doesn't suit you Kao-chan" and with that he walks away. Mori in tow. Jealousy? I'm not jealous...am I?

*Time Skip* Reader POV

"You know (Y/N), your eyes are the most beautiful shade of (E/C) that I've ever seen." Kaoru 'flirted' with me. I fake blushed in reply. I do a believable job since Kaoru taught me. Hikaru watches us with increasing anger. If I wasn't in on this, I would have believed he was jealous.

"NO! I will not allow another person to steal MY Kaoru away from me!" He emphasises his point by wrapping his left arm around Kaoru's waist and used his right hand to grab his chin. The fangirls stare on with dreamy eyes, whilst I roll mine at their ridiculous faces.

"You are mine Kaoru, now and forever." Hikaru finishes by bringing his lips as close to Kaoru's as possible without actually touching.

"Oh Hikaru..." Kaoru breathes whilst using his signature blush. It's at this point that the fangirls scream/squeal down my ear then start to faint, one by one. I catch the eyes of the twins and we share an eye roll and a smirk at their behaviour.

"Nice blush by the way Kaoru, very cute." I tease. His blush deepens into a real blush as he looks away. So Cute!

*Time Skip*

The host club has just finished. I'm the only guest that is allowed to stay behind since I'm best friends with the twins. I look up to see Kaoru approach me with a determined look upon his face. "Hey (Y/N), can I talk with you for a sec?" He asks in a voice that holds no argument.

"Sure" I answer uncertainly. What's wrong with him? "So, what did you want to talk about?"

"I want to know what all your secret conversations with Hikaru are about?" What? Why would he want to know about them...Wait a minute….

"Kaoru...Are you Jealous?" I ask, maybe a little hopefully.

"What?...N-no. W-why would I be j-jealous?" He stumbled. I knew it!

"You are Jealous! Oh Kaoru, you idiot. You poor, cute idiot." I giggled.

"What?" He replies, completely confused.

"There is nothing to be jealous of, I'm helping Hikaru ask Haruhi on a date!" I smirk.

"Oh." He states dumbly. "Oooooh!" I think he gets it know.

"So, you don't like Hikaru like that?"

"No way! Nor he me. I like you, you idiot" Ooops, didn't mean to say that. "I-I mean...I-"

I was cut off by a warm feeling over my mouth. I open my eyes that I seemed to have closed at some point, to see Kaoru kissing me. A rush of feelings flow through me; relief, happiness, giddiness, safety. I respond eagerly. The kiss was passionate, filled with long hidden feelings clashing together, finally revealed.

When the kiss broke from lack of air Kaoru decided to speak. "I'm glad. I love you (Y/N). Everything about you drive me insane with love. Your beautiful (E/C) eyes, always shining. Your (H/L) (H/C) hair that always smells of (Fave Smell). The way you sometime bite your lip when you’re nervous. Or how you always speak so passionately about (Hobby). Everything. I love you. Will you be my one and only?" After his speech I'm left speechless and in tears. It was beautiful. I know in that moment that I love him with all my heart.

"Yes, of course I will. I love you too."

"I'm sorry for assuming you liked Hikaru when you were only helping him." He replies a little sadly. "Hey, everybody makes mistakes" I smile. He smiles too then closes the gap between us with a sweet kiss. I knew then, everything is going to be great.

that character tag game reminded me of some character archetypes i fucking love, in no particular order

helpful character that is largely ignored by the fandom or just doesn't get to do that much in canon. though sometimes they are notable because they actually CANNOT help the main character, but really want to. sidekicks who have an inferiority complex that never turns bitter and i just want to give them all the wish fulfillment of being noticed and loved by their sempai (pluto, speedwagon, ijichi)

- Now that even Michinaga knows about game master's scheme and is curious, things are getting interesting.

- Keiwa's new wish to bring back dead riders. Expected, but there could be some trouble fulfilling this....

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone! Secret Santa is still going on in the TMGS discord group and this year my person requested an OC/Masaki art or fic. Since I'm not a great artist, I of course, went with a fic.

Masaki-sempai was one of the first boys (perhaps the second) I completed a playthrough for, so I was SO excited to get a chance to write about him! He holds such a special place in my heart. The person's OC was also super fun to write as well! It's a good way to practice for me as well.

“Thank you for shopping with us!” Masaki grinned and waved at the customer who left with a large bouquet of red roses. Someone was going to have a great weekend, that was for sure.

Christmas was right around the corner, so Anneri was a bit busier than usual. They were a mix of pre-orders for Christmas Day itself and for those who wanted to miss the holiday madness and have their couple’s celebrations a bit earlier.

The young man gave a bit of a stretch as he looked at the clock on the wall. About one more hour before his shift ended. Normally he wasn’t this tired, but this time of the year really was one of their busiest. Thankfully, they always managed to push through.

“Come on! Can’t you just make the exception? Why you gotta be such a pain about this?”

Masaki looked over his shoulder as soon as he started to hear the complaining. It seemed to be coming from a guy, roughly his age with a gaudy leather jacket and slicked-back, fake-red hair. Not typically the type you’d see in a flower shop, but who was he to judge? That being said, customers here weren’t normally aggressive, considering the type of stuff they sold. Any that were difficult usually turned an about-face when Arisawa was around. That woman could just glare and people would stop dead in their tracks.

“S-s-sorry, but it really is just a maximum of two per customer…”  A teen girl whimpered, lifting a clipboard just above her nose, only showing her blue eyes, which were starting to swell with tears.  

Unlike Arisawa, Ali wasn’t exactly one to take on rude customers head-to-head. The second-year Hanegasaki student was much softer spoken and would rather not make any waves, even if she was in the right. It meant that anyone who could bulldoze, would bulldoze her.

“This is so bogus! Why can’t you just do what I say? Customer’s always right, ain’t they!?”

Masaki’s fist clenched he took a deep breath. Keep calm Motoharu. Be diplomatic about this. You don’t want to get the shop in trouble either. But he certainly wasn’t going to leave Ali hanging either.    

“She’s right. Only two per customer,” he finally said, strolling up towards the two. He had a welcoming smile on his face, but the tone of his voice had a slight edge to it. “Maybe there’s something else we can help you with?”

“Masaki-sempai!” she let out a long exhale, a relieved smile appearing on her face. He gave her a quick wink and tilted his head slightly to motion for her to get behind him. She quickly did, clutching onto the loose sleeve of his white hoodie and peering over. He felt a slight tingle on the back of his neck when she did that but focused on the current issue in front of him.

“Come on, man, I’m sure you have tons! You’d be helpin’ a guy out!”

Masaki let out a bit of a sigh. Being clear on the rules wasn’t going to persuade him to do differently, so maybe he just needed someone to lend an ear.

“Why would you need so many anyway?”

“It’s for a goukon party!” the customer continued to plead. “I get these above every doorframe, my car, maybe above some of the classrooms at uni… there’s no way I’m not getting lucky!”

Ah.

So, he’s that type of guy. Mistletoes weren’t just cute little decorations that couples would playfully use as an excuse to show their affection to him. No, they were his way to not be alone this holiday.

“Well, if you put those in any classroom, you’re definitely going to get kicked out for harassment.” Masaki continued calmly.

“Dude, it’s Christmas! Cut me some slack here!” the customer’s voice started to crack like he was a toddler instead of an 18-year-old. 

“How about we give you three?” Masaki lifted his hand. “One for your party, one for your room, one for… uhhh…”

“O-on your keychain,” Ali peeped. “T-t-hat way you can use it a-a-anytime, a-a-anyplace.”

An eyebrow lifted, impressed with the quick thinking. “Yeah! Why waste your time putting a bunch of mistletoes everywhere, when you could just reuse one when that special moment arises?”

This finally gave the red-haired customer pause, as he was doing the mental calculations in his head.

“That does save me a wad of cash. Fine! I’ll take three.”

The two flower shop workers let out a sigh of relief as they rang the guy through the cash register and gave him his three mistletoes. Sure, they were still breaking the ‘max two per customer’ rule, but it was better than selling the guy their entire stock. They were a hot item considering they imported them all the way from Europe. By the time all was said and done it was time to close up for the evening.

“Do you need a ride home tonight?” Masaki asked.

“Ah, no, it’s okay,” Ali said as she zipped up her coat. “My mom is going to come pick me up this time since it’s cold.”

“I’ll wait for her to come then. I’d hate to leave you outside in the snowy and dark all by yourself.”

The two then did another check around the store, making sure that everything was in its place.

“… Thanks, by the way,” Ali continued. “It’s really hard d-dealing with people sometimes.”

“To be fair, that guy was the exception. You did fine,” Masaki grinned. Sure, Ali was incredibly shy, but she was always trying her best. She worked so hard to try and be more sociable. It was endearing. “You were the one who suggested the keychain thing. Though now I’m worried about what kind of menace we just enabled.”

He then scratched the back of his head, letting out a bit of a sigh. “God, barely anyone does mistletoe kissing in Japan unless you’re at like, partying with some exchange students. He just wants to find an excuse. I bet if he just turns it down a notch, he’d probably be fine. This kind of stuff is supposed to be fun and sporadic. Not forced.”

Once the lights were turned off and everything was well locked up, Masaki held the door open for them to both leave.

“You sound like you speak from experience,” she then clasped her hands over her mouth, perhaps realizing how that sounded and starting to sweat. “I d-d-didn’t mean it like you were a playboy or something. Just like -uh..!”  

Masaki couldn’t help but laugh as he finally locked the store door behind them. He’d be lying if he denied it. “As long as you don’t think me a bad guy,”

Ali shook her head furiously, before staring up at him with her big blue eyes. “I could never think that of you. You’re the best.”

The back of his neck started to tingle just like earlier when she was holding onto him. But this time, he had nothing to distract him. All attention was on her.

He’d been feeling that sensation more and more with Ali. Not just when she would compliment him or grab onto him. But when she tried to smile or make eye contact with him. When she’d share what was going on at Hanegasaki. And while it always started on the back of his neck, it always expanded further, creating a certain tightness in his chest.

Masaki knew what this was of course, as much as he tried to ignore it. He wanted to be her reliable sempai who was always there for her no matter what.

And yet, seeing her now in the now dim light, part of him wanted to throw that away. His olive eyes gazed at the short brunette gently, which she took notice of.

“…Masaki-sempai?”

Damn, it. He was doing it again without thinking. His olive eyes lingered on her for a little bit longer before looking up above him.

“No mistletoe.”

“H-huh?”

“Above the door.” He pointed. “We sell it, but we haven’t put any up. Guess no kiss tonight, huh?”

Ali’s glasses then began to fog up as she started to babble incoherently, her arms waving around.

“Wh-wh-WHAT?” was the only clear word that she managed to finally spit out.

“I’m joking, don’t worry,” he replied, a large grin widening on his face. “Arisawa would tear me a new one if I put something up that encouraged couples to block our doorway.” 

“Ughh… you almost gave me a heart attack,” she grasped at her chest, clearly trying to regain what little composure she had.

One of Masaki’s large hands ruffled her hair. “Sorry, you’re just so fun to tease. I just wanted to see how you’d react.”

A car then parked in one of the spots near his car. He lifted his hand off Ali’s head and waved politely.

“Looks like your ride’s here. Have a safe drive home and I’ll see you next week, right?”

“You have a safe drive home too, Masaki-sempai. And no more funny stuff!” she scolded before quickly bowing and running off to the car.

Masaki waved as they drove off before hopping into his car and starting it. He leaned back in his seat waiting for it to warm up a bit before hitting the road. 

He closed his eyes, thinking about what he had just done.

“A joke, huh?” He said aloud to himself.

No. He knew it wasn’t a joke.

If a mistletoe had been there, he knew it would have been different. His hand would not have been ruffling her head, but instead, caressing her cheek, tilting her chin up, so he could continue to look into her eyes. He would lean in closely and then… 

“I would have kissed you, Ali.”
