Mal's Future Sukka Headcanon Timeline! (Part 4) Character Bios
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
alright, here's the final installment of the sukka kiddos!! check out the other parts first! i used this picrew to design the characters. let's do it!
Tumblr media
Baatar: (yes i know i could have used an actual photo from the show for him but it was fun to make a young version of him) seventh born. sukka's first son. he had a super close relationship with his mom, Suki, but also got Sokka's love of inventing and engineering. in a family of big personalities, studious and responsible Baatar sometimes falls through the cracks. he doesn't mind though, really, he's a very private person, and in such a big family, treasures his alone time. while the family lived in Republic City he became good friends with Suyin Beifong (and maybe had a bit of a crush on her). after she left the city, they stayed in touch through letters. Eventually, when she decided to start Zaofu, she remembered Baatar's architectural expertise and hired him, the two eventually falling in love and getting married
Tumblr media
Senna: eight born. although Senna is a waterbender, she never particularly felt called to do much with it. after all, her parents are The nonbenders of the century. she did however always feel very connected to the SWT, moving there as soon as she was old enough to be on her own. her kind, caring, and supportive personality eventually captured the heart of a banished prince of the NWT, Tonraq. they settled down together for a quiet life of their own, neither of them expecting to become the parents of the Avatar
Tumblr media
Iknik (Varrick): ninth born. Iknik always loved hearing the crazy tales of his parents' youth. only too late did they realize he was taking notes. determined to make something of himself, Iknik skipped town at around 16 years old. he didn't want to use his parents' name as his claim to fame, he wanted to make himself famous all on his own, so he elected to start going by one of his middle names, Varrick. we all know how that ended up. he has Sokka's inventing genius, slightly corrupted by fame and fortune
Tumblr media
Kio: tenth born. as the youngest of the family for quite a while, most would expect Kio to be rather spoiled. however, he ended up being very down to earth, always with a kind word and advice to spare, usually over a cup of tea. he has always been interested in cultural history and preservation, and eventually opens up an antique store in Republic City, where he can talk your ears off for hours about the artifacts
Tumblr media
Kolla: eleventh born. Kolla has always looked up to her parents and her eldest sister, Yuki. with their 23 year age difference, by the time Yuki was ready to step down as leader of the Kyoshi warriors, Kolla was waiting to pick up that mantel. she's headstrong and brave, and an excellent leader
Tumblr media
Hakoda 'Koda': baby number 12. (he is meant to have a white stripe in his hair, but i couldn't do that with this picrew). due to his rough start to life, Koda was rather slow to grow and develop, leading to him being a bit more frail and shy than any of his siblings. he was always a total mama's boy, spending his young days clinging to Suki's side. he is an extremely powerful waterbender, and had to put in a lot of work to control and develop his skill. he's a quiet person, but determined and hardworking. he eventually started a waterbending school in the SWT, helping to teach young waterbenders with his calm and patient personality
and there we have it!! all twelve sukka kids! some are familiar faces, some are all new. i really hope you liked this; i had lots of fun making it! i'd love to hear thoughts about them, so don't hesitate to send in asks <3

you’re so lovely
suki & sokka & baby senna❤️🌙 | ao3
“hey,” sokka says quietly, senna finally asleep in his arms as they sit on the floor next to their bed. the lights in their home have all long been put out, but from the light of the moon through the window suki can see the creases of smile lines in his face. “do you think she’ll manage the whole stealth part of being a kyoshi warrior alright?”
suki lets her head fall against his shoulder as she looks down at their baby. senna had kept them up for the past few hours with on and off crying. she’s so little and suki is still in awe of the amount of noise her tiny lungs can make. “sure,” suki says. “did you know i was the crankiest baby?”
suki hears the lightest trace of laughter escape sokka, they’re too tired to be as loud as senna’s somehow managed all night. “of course you were,” sokka says. his voice is always so fond when he talks to her and suki knows that even when they’re grey and old and trying to get their grandchildren to sleep through the night it will be just as full of love. senna shifts in her sleep slightly and suki giggles at the trace of drool falling out of senna’s mouth.
“i bet she’ll make an excellent kyoshi warrior,” suki says, after a moment. “she’s so perfect, i can’t imagine her not being the best at whatever she tries.”
“you know,” sokka says.
“yeah, i found the fans,” suki tells him.
sokka turns his head to make a face at her. suki lifts her hand to catch it there and leans up to kiss his nose. he crosses his eyes at waggles his eyebrows and suki tilts her head back down so their noses brush against each other. “the fans are lovely,” she tells him. “but it’s past midnight.”
“perfect time,” sokka tells her, pulling his head back. “now can you hold the baby warrior for me while i grab the fans?”
suki stands up and takes senna out of his arms and holds her close to her chest. she takes a moment just to look at her baby girl again. it’s been seven months and suki is still surprised by everything about her. senna’s eyes are closed and her hair is dark and there’s so much more of it than she’d been expecting. she has sokka’s ears, suki thinks. sokka keeps insisting that senna’s obviously taken after her because she’s so cute, and while suki won’t say it out loud she thinks all of senna’s most lovely features are all sokka. one little bang is curling at the top of her head and suki likes to tug on it gently when senna’s in sokka’s arms. suki looks back up when she realizes she hasn’t heard sokka leave the room yet and he’s standing in front of her and the light of the moon illuminates his smile brilliantly. suki rolls her eyes and smiles as she leans over senna to kiss the silly goof that she’s loved since she was fifteen.
when they break apart sokka’s got an even sappier expression on her face and suki has to raise an eyebrow at him to get him into motion. she sits on the edge of the bed as he leaves the room, his head over his shoulder smiling at them and winking at her as he finally steps out of sight. senna lets out a little sneeze and suki’s head snaps back down at the sound of it. senna has a grumpy expression on her face for a moment, but it passes quickly and suki lets her shoulders relax. sokka teases her about being a mama bear all the time, though she know he fusses just as much. suki knows that when they go up to the southern water tribe bato is going to give her so much shit for this.
“hey,” sokka says as he steps back into the room, his hands behind his back. he sits next to her and reveals a set of carefully handcrafted toy fans. they’re soft and golden and perfectley sized for senna’s tiny hands. sokka holds one in each hand and pretends to strike one out at suki, as if it was a real weapon. suki pretends to bit at it and he pulls it back, acting scandalized. “suki!” he whispers in mock outrage, “can i trust you with our babys precious warrior fans?”
“gimme those,” suki asks. she carefully shifts senna to one arm and holds her free hand out for the fans. sokka takes great care to solemnly place them in her hands and she can’t help but smile at him. he shifts closer to her and she kisses his cheek before she turns back to senna.
“hi baby,” she says. “hi little warrior.” she holds one fan up to where senna’s arms are, and she and sokka let out a soft gasp together when senna pulls it close to her chest. “huh,” suki says. “i guess she really is a kyoshi warrior.”
“i told you so,” sokka says. suki doesn’t even mind. their baby’s holding her first fan and suki can’t wait to see the drawing sokka will surely do of this in the morning. “she’s perfect, and she takes after her mom.”
“she takes after her dad, too,” suki tells him. he wraps an arm around her and suki pulls senna closer to them both. “i love you,” she whispers to senna.
sokka squeezes her and kisses the side of her head. “i love you both so much,” he tells her, and suki somehow manages to relax even more. her baby is in her arms and she is in the arms of her husband, the love of her life. she’s tired and she’d been up for so long trying to get senna to finally stop crying and she doesn’t even mind. there are few things as precious as this that suki has lived, and even in the morning when yue has left and the sun has risen and suki is as cranky as senna, she won’t mind too much how little sleep they’re going to get.

Sukka?
002 | Send me a ship and I will tell you:
When I started shipping them: When I first watched the show when I was a kid. Seriously. All the way back then. I didn't have a word for shipping when I was that young, but I saw the cheek kiss in Season 1 and just went," Yes. That."
My thoughts: They're a comfort ship, for me. They're good, sweet, and fun, and always a joy to read because they're just...they're them. They fit together so well, and they make me laugh so much.
What makes me happy about them: Sarcastic banter and their appreciation and respect for each other.
What makes me sad about them: Their cultural differences are incredibly interesting, and I always see them having a long distance relationship for a while, but they also mean they have numerous struggles and angsty moments.
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: I feel say this a lot, but it's a big problem: for being probably the single most accepted ship in the ATLA fandom, they get passed over as a ship a lot. People also call Sukka a boring ship, and then...don't do anything to make it a dramatic ship? Like, if you want a ship to have some kind of drama or pizazz or whatever, then fucking write it. It's really not that hard, I promise.
Things I look for in fanfic: For some reason, I'm a big fan of reunions, meet-cutes, and road trips for this ship. Any of those things in a Sukka fic, and I'll read it in a heartbeat.
My wishlist: Sukka babies, cultural differences being explored and overcome, humor and banter, Suki kicking Sokka's ass whenever he does something stupid. I'm not a complicated man.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: For Sokka, I'd have to say Azula is my favorite. For Suki...hmm. I'm not really into many Suki ships other than Sukka? Maybe Azula - I've also read some good TySuki fics, so Ty Lee, maybe.
My happily ever after for them: They have lots of adorable babies and retire to the suburbs of Republic City. They annoy Korra and her friends a lot, but they love having psuedo-grandparents around. (I'm a big fan of the theory that Korra's mother, Senna, is one of Sokka and Suki's kids, and grandma and grandpa sticking around to annoy the shit out of her is an idea I love).

001 zukka, if youd like.
hi! okay, first ask, thank you for asking.
when I started shipping it if I did: ...im going to be completely honest, im new to atla, but not new to tumblr. i actually had a large tumblr that i made when i was fourteen that was dedicated to hetalia. but over the years i got bored of it, so i stopped updating it, i only looked at the blogs i followed and then one day, someone reblogged some zukka fanart, and i loved it. i knew nothing of the characters, but from the looks of each of them and how it followed the classic red-blue gays and representation that i craved as a young lesbian i decided to give it a watch, still in love with a ship i knew nothing about, so imagine my whiplash that i got when they were two people who weren't even friends until the final season, but i never got discoaurged because of all the tension and the parellels and how if either of them were female-male i definitely felt that zukka would be canon and have so much more hype.
my thoughts: im not the best at describing why i love them, but ill try. i love zukka for a lot of reasons, but mostly because... for me relationships are a partnership, you both get benefits from it where you can rely on eachother, where there is a mutual understanding between each other to the point where you know exactly what your lover needs to hear... and sometimes, no matter the mood your in, they are the only ones who can truly make you happy, and thats what i get from zukka. sokka is very much the older sibling, he goes so underappreciated for so long that when piandao tells him he should be proud of who he is and what he can do... he just doesn't believe him. now, this isnt the fault of katara, aang or anyone else, maybe a little bit hakodas fault i mean he literally left a kid with such high expectations of himself to protect the village by himself with what limited training that he had. even when they listen to his ideas, some of which are very much right but have failed to no fault of sokka like walking because appa is too noticable, katara or someone else pokes fun to these ideas for failing miserable, which they may mean in jest, but can still really hurt, so he needs someone to encourage him that sure, maybe this idea has failed, but its just a learning experience. zuko... my god he has trauma. zuko was this sweet and kind and passionate kid born into an environment where he didnt belong and he was abused for everything that he was. ursa while was a safe haven didnt do enough to protect him, as she too was powerless. his sister turned from this sweet and kind sister to someone who quickly realised that being that way makes it impossible to survive so she began to tease and taunt and turn into a mirror of their abuser. while id like to think lu ten was there for the both of them, iroh and lu ten where getting ready for the siege so they were rather busy... and azulon actively wished that ozai kill him, and ozai, fucking ozai man, is there anything else left to be said? once ursa left... everything when down and he was burned and banished for his wish to protect his people. iroh... for all my love of iroh, he doesnt understand zukos intentions or actions, he thinks hes lost his way but... he doesnt see that zuko doesnt want to hunt the avatar, he doesnt want to stay at the tea shop, what he wants is to be home. hes not safe in the watertribes, not safe in the earth kingdom and while he isnt truly safe at home, its his nostalgia(?) and how everything hes used to is at home, its where his mother memory lives... its where his the remnants of his past relationship with azula and where his baby sister is... its as safe as a home they could get. he knows people doesnt like him and he while isnt okay with it, nothing matters more than getting home. which isnt a good reason for his literally capturing of a twelve year olds, fourteen year old and fifteen year olds, but... it is for him, hes sixteen, still a kid, like the one hes chasing and he doesnt realize that the home he hopes for isnt what he thinks it is, at least not anymore. that his father doesnt love him, that his sister is no longer the sweet kid that she used to be and she too was abused, that his mum is no longer around anymore and he doesnt have a happy life or a happy family. he repeatedly doesnt listen to iroh because iroh doesnt get it. iroh grew up loved and cherished and praise while zuko doesnt, he grows up hated with no chance of change, he... is very much an asshole and doesnt listen to anyone, but hes trying in season 3. and then... the boiling rock happens. my god, its... like my favourite episodes. sokka feels like he has to go alone because he felt like he failed, its his responsiblity, it was his mistake despite the fact that it wasnt, that there were many, many adults who it the fault could fall onto, and the fact that the odds were stacked against them completely, but sokka being who he is, still feels responsible, but wants to go alone. except, zuko wont let him, he understands sokka, because thats what hes felt like his whole life. hes
always felt like a failure, not being able to protect his sister, not being able to protect himself so he knows what sokka is going to do, and, forces himself onto the journey. its awkward, at first, because of course it is i mean this is the guy who was chasing you for half a year and was inadvertidely responsible to two of your closest friends deaths/near-deaths. but once they get past this awkwardness, the banter very much starts when they land. and zuko. zuko who never asked for someones opinion, looks to sokka for guidance and listens and encourages sokka. for me boiling rock is peak sokka for how well he plans. sokka is able to express himself and talk and give advice and when his plan fails, zuko is there to help him through it and see it with a different perspective, and they just... the trust, its there. its already there despite how much it shouldnt be. it just works so well and then sokka defends zuko to hakoda and finally hakoda tells him what he should of and... its up from there. they are just there for each other and its... wonderful. they are both absolutely miserable people but... they make each other happy. it happens so fastly too and its just absolutely wonderful.
What makes me happy about them: honestly, i just wrote what makes me happy about them and how much i love them in the above question.
What makes me sad about them: god. how complicated it will be in the actual universe and how they will have to spend most of their lives seperate from each other. ive mentioned before that im a romantic at heart and it hurts, because despite how realistic it will be to have them seperated for most of their early religion, i mean... zuko will have to stay in the firenation despite how much it isnt home for him anymore and sokka is able to move from the southern watertribe to the northern air temple and to the firenation... so id like to think that when izumi comes around, the soon travel together, as by the time izumi is around, things are getting settled and zuko doesnt need such a close eye on everything.
things done in fanfic that annoys me: listen... i dont have anything that really annoys me, except when they play into babified(?) versions of each other, (zuko beng too soft-boy and sokka... being to "daddy" if thats the correct word.) but what bothers me is the lack of sokka-comfort, all of them have trauma. sokka, too. i love zuko. hes... just my favourite/comfort character and someone who i relate to so much, hes just... ive never related to someone more than zuko, but zukka is a more mutual relationship than anything, and i wish we had more fics dealing with sokkas trauma too.
things I look for in fanfic:
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: okay, okay, okay, for zuko, i have many, i just think zuko and sokka both have extreme pretty boy privilege, and while zuko doesnt realize the effortless charm and how pretty he is, sokka most definitely does and uses it to his advantage. so... maiko, jinko, (platonic/relationship) zutara, jetko and sukka. listen. i love yue and sokkas relationship, but they had such a short time together that i could never really ship them. i think sokka mourns her and it is very valid for doing so but i always felt that he mourned his friend and what their relationship could of grown into. also i am a diehard yueki fan.
My happily ever after for them: that they grow hold together, and are able to see their children, (yes, i said children, as in izumi, varrick and senna with trans!zuko) grow and change the world and have their own families.
who is the big spoon/little spoon: dude. dude i dont know. i want them both to be held. i want both little spoon zukka and big spoon zukka. weighted blanket zukka. all zukka sleeping positions. i like to think that like me the both of them cannot stay still while they sleep, they wake up in each others arms but end up at the foot of the bed or something.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity: god... everything, picnics, roadtrips, reading together, stargazing, sharing letters... just as long as they are their together everything is their favourite activity as they spent most of their youth and twenties and possibliy early thirties separate from each other.

for the kids thing: taang!
oooh hahahahaa!!!
ok so first born is Kuzon (First of all the gaang kids in this au actually... no one really gave toph or aang an in-depth sex talk since they lost their parental figures at 12 and its not like toph would listen to her parents if they tried that with her... and the gaang didnt talk to her about it until she was complaining about this ‘flu’ she had for a while... (they’re like 19/20 though, not like 14) anyway lmao)
ok anyway, Kuzon is first born. Aang talked about him so much in the series I couldn’t imagine him NOT naming his kid after one of his best pals in the fire nation. Aang and Toph also have a friendly competition on whether the kids will be earthbenders or airbenders and whichever one it is, they get to name it that. SO, Kuzon turned out to be an Airbender and Aang got to name him. Toph’s name for him (which is her own name) becomes his middle name. Kuzon Toph Bei Fong- first airbender born since the genocide (well, first-known to be born, i also headcanon that some survived in the earth kingdom)
He’s super fun and goofy; he has a hard time taking things seriously and it’s definitely a coping mechanism for all the pressure he feels as the first airbender of the next generation. Most of the time he doesn’t known when to stop goofing and it gets him into trouble a lot. He gets along well with the Sukka twins if you read that post. He’s also gay and that comes with a LOT more guilt on his shoulders because he feels like he’s supposed to continue the airbender lineage. Of course, Aang and Toph wholeheartedly accept him when that day comes to tell them (before, only his sister and his best friend, Zutara’s son, knows). While he’s happy about that, that guilt isn’t really lifted entirely until airbenders are discovered in the earth kingdom. Later in his life, Kuzon takens on a similar role to Tenzin in the Korra series (though i haven’t actually watched the series through, just read about it and watched some clips) but I imagine that includes helping to preserve airbender culture and act as a representative for it. He’s pretty passionate about peace-keeping once he matures enough to handle that sort of job and, even though he’s not the avatar, tries to travel around the world to help with diplomatic issues.
Second born is Lin Yangchen Bei Fong, only a year or so apart from Kuzon. (also, i didn’t mention this before but since aang doesn’t have a last name, they use Bei Fong on any official documents). She’s an earthbender. Fun fact: To learn seismic sense as a kid, she couldn’t really get it unless she closed her eyes and as a result, can’t really earthbend well at all without closing her eyes as she grows older. She’s very hotheaded and strong-willed. She often feels like she has to prove herself since she feels like she lives in such a male-dominated world. Not gonna lie, Toph kind of pressured her to be very self-reliant from her own trauma of her parents making her feel useless; she did the exact opposite and forced Lin to learn to be completely independent and now she kind of has a hard time trusting people. Later in life, I imagine they both have a good talk where Toph actually apologizes for not being kinder to her (THAT BEING SAID; she’s not a completely withdrawn mother- they had lots of good moments as she grew up, but you can’t pretend Toph wouldn’t fuck up in some way from her own background and Aang tried really hard balancing it out that it’s not as extreme as Lin in the Korra series). Anyway, Lin’s best friend is her brother, Kuzon, though they also fight a lot as siblings do. In my notes, I wrote “she has a light humor, not one you will often see though.” I love her dearly.
Third born is Tenzin Shi Bei Fong. This time, there’s a good six years before they have another kid. (So they just battled two toddlers while peace-keeping the world at age 20... honestly, it sounds just like them lmfao. Aunt Katara and Uncle Sokka were always happy to babysit when needed, but they tried their best to not just yeet the kids away unless they absolutely had to). Tenzin is an airbender and he’s actually very similar to Tenzin from the Korra series. I have notes that he was a “cute little boy who is an adorable muffin. Very happy and playful.” His middle name, Shi, means Stone... I think Toph would feel rather uncreative after two kids, plus she says she can actually always tell what they’re gonna be based off whether they have dancing feet or not to which both Tenzin and Kuzon did. I don’t have a lot on him, because he’s, you know, the original Tenzin... except he doesn’t date Lin because they’re siblings now (also... my Lin is not the same one from the series).
The final baby is born seven years after Tenzin (an accident, though not the last accident of the gaang... that’s actually Sokka and Suki with Senna). It’s a girl and I haven’t quite decided whether she’s a an airbender or an earthbender because in my AU she’s just a baby, but I’m leaning heavily towards an airbender. Aang’s name for her is Buma and Toph’s is Suyin. Everyone hates Aang’s name for her and begs her not to name her Buma but even though it takes two years before Buma shows signs of any bending (to which, Katara asked them, “what will you name her if she’s a nonbender” and Toph says “we’ll deal with it when we get there”). Eventually, when she starts airbending, the family calls her Buyin as a combination of the two names so they don’t have to call her Buma. Aang eventually starts calling her Buyin too since everyone else is, but treasures the name Buma since it’s after a dear friend of his. She’s very adventurous and as the youngest, she had a lot more freedom than her siblings (though, really, Aang and Toph gave their kids a lot of freedom to begin with). Buyin’s really close to her parents as she grows up since her siblings stop traveling with them before she’s even close having the option to. Her parents are really her best friends and she visits the most following her actually growing up and moving away to do her own thing. I think Buyin’s that sweet person that everyone kind of loves, taking after Aang a lot in her excitement to make friends.
And those are the Taang kids!! I have a lot of headcanons and I’m sorry it’s such a long post. Thank you for the ask and if anyone else wants, feel free to send any atla ship and I’ll give you my kids headcanons!!

Bravery and Honor (Excerpt)
-This is an excerpt from a future chapter that I think my page will enjoy! Be sure to check out my Wattpad, Barricadebabe24601, for the three Sukka books, two completed already, I have written. The order goes like this: Two Warriors, Fan & Sword!, Bravery and Honor!
———
“Yummy!” Senna opened her mouth and Sokka fed her a bite of the noodles.
“Make sure to chew!” Sokka flicked her braid and smiled. “Where are the girls and Koda? I called them ten minutes ago?” Sokka said, sipping some soup. Senna coughed and he patted her back, “Baby, what did I tell you? Chew your food, sweetheart.”
“Sowwy daddy...more pwease!” Senna opened her mouth and Sokka gave her another bite, “See! I’m chew-” she coughed again and Sokka shook his head, wiping the table with a cloth napkin. Senna looked up at Sokka, frowning a bit, “I’m sowwy. I didn’t mean to.”
Sokka patted her head, patiently, “That’s alright, sweetheart. I’m not mad.” Senna smiled and Sokka smiled back, “I’ll just cut your noodles shorter so you don’t choke.”
“Tank you daddy.”
Suki watched the two of them and smiled. She was happy that Sokka was so patient and kind, especially with their kids, who were more than a handful.
“Hey Senna, can you go get your siblings?”
“Otay mama!” Senna gave Suki a thumbs up and ran to the stairs.
Sokka followed her with his eyes, chuckling a bit, “She’s so cute.”
Senna tripped, “Oomph! Ouchie! I’m otay!” And continued to run up the stairs.
Suki chuckled and crawled over to the other side of the bamboo table to lean up against Sokka, “And clumsy.”
Sokka put his arm around her, giving her shoulder a little pat, “How was your day, Suki?”
“Good.” Suki smiled and leaned up to give him a kiss.
“What was that for?”
“Nothing! Just showing my appreciation!” Suki chuckled, rubbing her nose into his arm.
“You’re sooooooo cute Suki.” Sokka brought her into a side hug and she leaned into him more, wrapping her arms around his waist, “I love it when you get all snuggly! It’s so-“
“Shhhh,” Suki brought her finger to his lip, her eyes still closed, “Enjoy the moment.”
They stayed there for a moment.
“Babe?”
“Hmm?” Suki hummed.
“Where are the kids?”
“Oh shit.” Suki sat up and heard giggling coming from upstairs, “We should go check on those silly turtle gooses.”

ugh I LOVE Senna being Sukka’s kid bc Senna is saying how all she and Tonraq wanted was a simple life and I love the idea of her growing up in the public eye around the Avatar and his friends and seeing everything her parents had to go through and being like “no thank you I will live in the Southern Water Tribe with my husband and my baby and that will be all”
And then Korra turns out to be the Avatar

Old Azula: Did your grandparents ever tell you that their first date was a prison break?
Korra:
Azula: Well it was. Would you like to guess who locked up your Gran-Gran Suki in the first place?
Korra:
Azula: Me. So basically, I’m the reason your mother exists and therefore the reason you exist.
Korra:
Azula: Kill one Avatar, induce the conception of another. Ironic, isn’t it? I wasn’t there of course, but——
Korra: So where’s the part in this story where I learn lightning?

Mal's Future Sukka Headcanon Timeline! (Part 2)
okay, gonna be real, i thought i would be able to fit the whole timeline into one post. i should have known better lmao
Part 1
same disclaimers still stand. this is the last part of the timeline, talking about their last kids, Sokka serving on the Republic City council, and how it all ties in to tlok
(small TW for mentions of a stillbirth. but not quite a stillbirth? it gets reversed. read more for an explanation lmao)
but life has one last surprise in store for them
if you've read my fic 'broken jars' you'll know the story of the twins. if you haven't, i'll summarize the events real quick
Suki is pregnant with twins, but doesn't know. since she doesn't know, she doesn't get quite the proper care needed for a person pregnant with twins
this means that, when she gives birth, the first baby is perfectly healthy. a baby girl they name Kolla
and then she gives birth to another baby. a little boy who is not so healthy
he's stillborn
Sokka and Suki are utterly devastated
holding their baby boy together under the light of the full moon, a miracle takes place
a stripe of his hair turns pure white. and he begins to cry
they're both aware of what just happened: Yue saved their son
they name the baby boy Hakoda, after his grandfather, who unfortunately at this point has passed away. he ends up going by the nickname 'Koda' for the most part, though
after the rather traumatic birth of the twins, Sokka and Suki both agree that they're Done having kids. they likely were anyway, considering they're both in their 40s at this point, but they take extra steps and precautions to assure that they're done until Suki goes into menopause
but after taking their time to recover, they're happy to be a family of 14. the kids are all amazing older siblings (the oldest few have had lots of practice at this point) and life is good
then, when the twins are about 6 months old, Aang writes Sokka a letter to propose an idea to his best friend
he wants Sokka to serve at the SWT representative in Republic City
it doesn't take much for Sokka to be convinced. and Suki is right with him, as always
the family up and moves to Republic City
however, the eldest three, Yuki, Saya, and Umari, decide not to go with them. They're all adults now, and can take care of themselves. they like their lives on Kyoshi island, and don't want to move
it's the first time the family has ever separated, and it's hard for the parents to realize that their babies are growing up
but they raised them well, and they know they can look after themselves and each other
Sokka serves on the council for 10 years
as the kids grow up, they all begin to fly the nest. some return to Kyoshi island. Some head to the SWT. Others set out on their own adventures throughout the world (Iknik, i'm looking at you)
after Sokka's service is done, they move back to Kyoshi
now it's time for Suki to take a stab at leadership! she gets elected as mayor of Kyoshi, where she also spends about 10 years
and then she and Sokka decide they've really done enough, and opt to retire on Kyoshi island
of course, spoiling their many, many grandkids
now, i mentioned that one of their kiddos is Senna! which makes their granddaughter the avatar!
but mal, you cry, wouldn't Korra know about Sokka and Suki being her grandparents?
well, not necessarily. she was kept in a compound in the SWT for most of her life. she hardly saw her own parents. i don't think it's much of a stretch to say she wouldn't have a relationship with her grandparents, either
but also, i'm just gonna go ahead and say suspend some of your disbelief. it's more fun
and then, of course, we sadly must talk about the end of Sokka and Suki's lives
i have two endings. one very angsty, one not
for Angst: i saw a theory online about this. Zaheer was a nonbender member of the Red Lotus. In theory, he wouldn't need to be kept in a specialized prison, since he didn't have bending abilities. so why was he kept so freaking locked up?
the answer: he killed someone very, very important
hearing that there were threats against their granddaughter, Sokka and Suki didn't hesitate to come help protect her
Suki died defending her granddaughter. she was killed by Zaheer. After the death of his beloved wife, Sokka took it upon himself to ensure that Zaheer would never hurt anyone ever again, locking him away in the highest security prison he could design
and it was very hard for Sokka to see his granddaughter after. he was only able to remember what he lost
ouch
anyway, here's the less angsty ending lmao
Sokka died peacefully in his sleep, sometime before or very soon after Korra was born
and honestly at this point, travel was difficult for Suki. so she has just stayed put on Kyoshi island, living out her retirement in peace
so there we go!! SUKKA my beloved!!
hope everyone enjoyed my nonsense timeline lol. next i'll be posting some character designs for the kiddos, as well as some stuff about their personalities/individual stories!
and last but not least, a quick age layout for the kids so y'all can see age gaps and stuff
Yuki- 23
Saya- 22
Umari- 20
Kyiasa- 18
Akedi- 15
Kannaa- 13
Baatar- 10
Senna- 8
Iknik- 7
Kio- 5
Kolla and Hakoda- newborn

You’ve proposed a headcanon that Korra is the granddaughter of Sokka and Suki. It’s an attractive idea, but it falls apart under scrutiny. If she was really **that** closely related to Sokka and Katara, the White Lotus would have investigated her sooner, considering her birthday coincides with Aang’s death. Katara of all people would have said something. She’d know the day, at least, and if necessary they would have thoroughly investigated to narrow down the time of day, just to focus their search parameters and make the new Avatar easier to find. Hell, she would’ve called Katara “aunt” at least once.
Korra must have been between two and four when they finally met her in the pilot, and it never would have taken that long if she were Sokka’s granddaughter. Being unrelated, she could easily be lost in obscurity among all the children born that day. You can blame bad writing or poor pacing if you want, it’s a fair claim, but even with that the available information just doesn’t support your theory. It’s not a headcanon, it’s an AU, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
On the other hand, if Korra has any familial connection to a character from the first series, then considering her father Tonraq and his brother Unalaq are essentially Northern Water Tribe royalty, it’s much more likely that she is distantly related to Princess Yue. This theory has more credence in the context of the series, and could feasibly be called a headcanon.
First off, I’d like to preface this response by saying: a) headcanons are headcanons—Senna being Sukka’s daughter is canon in my head, not in real life—and anyone else is free to accept this headcanon (as many have done long before I even joined the fandom), but obviously no one is obligated to do so, including yourself; b) a lot of things in popular media don’t hold up under scrutiny, including rather large plot points in ATLA (*cough* Aang’s chakra arc *cough*). Regardless, this is something that actually does hold up, and thus does not require an AU.
To be clear, this conversation is a continuation from the reply section of this post, but I’m going to rehash things I said there anyway. So here we go!
Korra as Sokka and Suki’s Granddaughter: A Legitimate Possibility in Canon
It seems to me that your issue with Senna being Sukka’s daughter can be divided into two points: (1) the near-instantaneous reincarnation of the Avatar Spirit would provide nigh-irrefutable evidence that Korra is the next Avatar, and (2) Aang’s death and Korra’s birth on the same day are too significant of an occurrence within one family to not be investigated further. So I’ll be refuting these points in order to reject your overall claim—that it’s impossible in the canon Avatar universe for Senna to be Sokka and Suki’s daughter and Korra their granddaughter.
(1) In order for the simultaneous death/birth of Aang/Korra (respectively) to be used to identify Korra as the new Avatar, it has to be knowable to the characters—it’s not enough that it just happened. So what would be required for the characters to determine this earlier? They (the White Lotus, Katara, Sokka, Suki, Senna, whoever else) would need the capacity and prior intent to measure the time of death/birth. Firstly, in terms of capacity, this means that there had to be someone present to record Korra’s exact time of birth. Considering Korra was likely born at home in the rural SWT (delivered by a local midwife or healer), it cannot be assumed that an exact time of birth was recorded as it might have been in a Republic City hospital. Can we be absolutely certain that Tonraq was checking the clock while his wife was in labor? Can we be certain that there was even a clock present at all? No, we cannot—simply because canon doesn’t show us any reason to believe so and it requires a great bit of imagination to say otherwise. Things become even less convincing with Aang’s death. Was his death sudden? In his sleep? In a place where no clocks or watches were at the ready? Again, we know nothing to indicate that the time of Aang’s death was properly recorded by (or passed on to) the White Lotus. But more importantly—to address prior intent—it’s clear that the White Lotus never aimed at using time of death/birth to pinpoint the new Avatar in the first place. If they had, why wouldn’t we have heard of it in TLOK? Korra’s heritage is completely unconnected to the WL’s plans and actions, and to assume that this strategy would have been used if she was Sukka’s granddaughter is to assume that it would have been used if she was not Sukka’s granddaughter. Yet, there is absolutely no evidence that the WL was concerned with this Avatar-identification method in TLOK. Therefore, we can safely say that Korra’s time of birth would not (and likely could not) have been used to identify her as the new Avatar.
(2) In your ask, you used the word ‘investigated’ more than once but provided no means by which an infant could be verified as the Avatar, even if the time of death/birth was known. If Sokka, Katara, or Senna were to inform the White Lotus that Aang/Korra’s death/birth occurred on the same day, what exactly can any of them do to ‘investigate’ this? The only methods of Avatar-verification shown in ATLA and TLOK are observing a young Avatar’s toy preference (Aang) and multiple-element bending (Korra). The former would not work since an infant cannot play with toys, nor would the latter since an infant can’t bend. Even if they waited a few months until Korra could play with past Avatars’ toys, what toys would they use? The ones at the Southern Air Temple that were no doubt destroyed when Sozin’s armies attacked 153 years earlier? There simply isn’t a way for the White Lotus to verify a wild coincidence that Aang’s grand-niece is the new Avatar (which is actually just as probable as it being any other baby). Korra seems to exhibit that she is the Avatar at a very young age already, and it is entirely unreasonable to assume that the WL or anyone else could determine this any earlier. And although I have not read the Kyoshi novels myself, I’ve heard that Avatar misidentification is something that happened when Kyoshi was young—someone other than the true Avatar was believed to be in possession of the Avatar Spirit and capable of bending all four elements. If that’s possible, then there really is no hard science behind verifying an individual as the Avatar before they show the ability to bend more than one element. No knowledge of death/birth-related coincidences can change that, either.
I was tempted to continue this response by considering the thoughts/feelings/motivations of Sokka, Katara, and Senna upon learning that Korra was born the same day Aang died, but this has already been long-winded enough—and it’s ultimately pointless since they’d have no way of determining that baby Korra is the Avatar. Maybe I’ll save that for another post, because it opens up some interesting side-discussions.
Any further asks about this headcanon—or any other Sukka-related topics—are always welcome!

BEHOLD, THE GREATEST OF ATLA HEADCANONS (NOW UPGRADED TO ‘THEORY!!!’) HAS REACHED SCREENRANT!!!
Just to be clear, the idea of Senna being Sukka’s daughter didn’t originate with me—it seems to be as old as LOK, which premiered long before I entered the fandom—but it’s easily my favorite Sukka Family headcanon, and I want the world to love the idea of Korra being Sokka and Suki’s granddaughter as much as I do!
I’ve listed some posts and fics featuring Senna as Sukka’s daughter—and if anyone knows of others, feel free to give me a heads-up so I can add them! Here ya go:
AO3 Fanfics

Senna: I thought we were just going on a family camping trip? Why did Daddy bring all those roses?
Suki, sweating nervously: Oh, the roses? They’re for...ummmmm...in case he gets hungry!
Senna: What about the candles?
Suki: Uhhhhhhh...no more questions. Let me help you set up your tent.

The 'Senna and Baatar are Sukka' s babies' is a great headcanon. That means Korra and the Bei Fong kids are cousins. It's hilarious because I remember fandom complaining about Opal looking so much like Korra when book 3 aired. Mako would ask 'why did you never told us those are your cousins and your uncle??' 'you never asked!!!!'
Hahaha oh man I love to see enthusiasm for this hc!!!
Honestly, I didn’t even think about how cool it would be for Korra and the Beifong Brood to be cousins until you mentioned it a while ago—that just makes all their interactions so much better lol. And it’s crossed my mind in the past how much Korra and Opal look alike…and I didn’t think too hard about it…but of course they do! Half of their DNA is from the same two people! (And they can thank Gran-Gran Suki for passing on those baddie genes tho 🥵)
LOK leaves so much stuff ambiguous, they could totally get away with Baatar and Senna being siblings and use the excuse that it just never came up (the rest of the Krew finding out would be hilarious).
I’ve also started thinking that maybe the LOK-era White Lotus (the useless sticks-up-their-butts guys) might have told Sokka, Suki, and Senna something like, “we’re not going to let the Avatar know she’s the granddaughter of two famous non-benders so she focuses on mastering all the elements and isn’t influenced to learn inferior forms of combat,” which of course would totally piss off Sokka and Suki and crush them since they can’t see their granddaughter, but at least they have Katara to send letters to Kyoshi Island and keep them updated on how their daughter’s family is doing in the SWT.
Sorry for taking a bit to answer this, I got caught up watching Seinfeld lol—but thanks so much for the ask!!! I will talk literally about anything Sukka, anytime!!!
