shoutout to all the people who get 'triggered' easily. the sensitive ones who cannot fake a laugh or smile and get visibly upset when someone's joke offends you. the ones with anxiety disorders, who have panic attacks from simply reading/listening to a word with terrible meaning behind it, the quiet ones who cannot execute small talk, the ones who keep everything to themselves and try their very best to open up to people, to the ones who have gone through unimaginable trauma but still want to heal and get better and feel alive but dont have access to the resources needed, the ones who are described as "shy" or "too quiet" by others, the ones who are insecure about the way they look, the ones who overthink everything they say, even to a complete stranger, like the way they said 'thank you' to the starbucks employee after getting their drink, the ones who crumble inside when someone says a rude word to them. i see you. you are so brave. you are not "too sensitive", you are not 'too' anything. it's admirable to see how in touch with your feelings you are. i see you. and i love you

I hate how sensitive I am. No one can bear to be around me. It always leads to conflict because every fucking thing hurts me. And then I’m called manipulative, a sensitive bitch and what not. I don’t mean to be the above but I don’t know why I’m so sensitive and how I ended up being this person

Highly sensitive people are too often perceived as weaklings or damaged goods. To feel intensely is not a symptom of weakness, it is the trademark of the truly alive and compassionate. It is not the empath who is broken, it is society that has become dysfunctional and emotionally disabled. There is no shame in expressing your authentic feelings. Those who are at times described as being a 'hot mess' or having 'too many issues' are the very fabric of what keeps the dream alive for a more caring, humane world. Never be ashamed to let your tears shine a light in this world.

Nine things to consider when writing about mental health
Nine things to consider when writing about mental health
Many authors, including me, write about sensitive topics that affect our emotional wellbeing, such as abuse, bullying, etc. However, some writers use these topics as a hook to attract readers only to offend them. This happens mainly if the subject triggers someone who has been through an unfortunate experience. Here are nine things to keep in mind while approaching sensitive topics.
Empathy is…
