When it comes to sensory issues in autism I really wished that more people talked abt being sensory seeking/hyposensitivity since it seems that it's mostly sensory avoidance and being hypersensitive to sensory input being talked abt.
I'm both sensory seeking and avoidant both hypersensitive and hyposensitive however I lean more onto that sensory seeking side. And seeing it rarely talked abt made me feel so disconnected from other fellow autistics tbh
I wish more ppl talked abt things like:
-abt the feeling abt being understimulated because you do not have that sensory input you need
-constantly listening to music /needing background noise in order to fulfill said desired sensory input and feeling like ur going insane without it and liking noise
-liking to touch things/being touched (like liking hugs a lot for example, that's something that helps me with sensory input a lot)
-often chewing on things(tho that is something I see getting talked a bit more!!)
Etc!!

“Why don’t you go touch some grass” seasonal/climate-dependent, mobility limited, not considerate of folks with narsty nature allergies
“Why don’t you go have a tactile sensory input break” broader interpretation, more ability-inclusive, accounts for us carpet goblins who make wee berber angels with our leggies

So, uh.... Did anyone else on the Autism spectrum, who is into tickling, tell other people not to touch them, because you were afraid of getting tickled?
And then you grew up craving physical affection, only getting scraps of it from the very few people you were close to?
Oh and wanting to show that same physical affection to those you're close to?
Or is that just a me thing?

I (a grown man) have bought myself a sensory sock (imagine a stretchy beanbag cover for your human body) and
It makes me unreasonably comfortable. I'm just a sensory little guy. I feel like a big enclosed worm or pupa on the sofa. It's great.
It's not tight, there's ample wiggle room, I can walk around. But, when you try to move too much, it pulls things in. It's nice. Can't believe I didn't buy one sooner.

I hate those moments when you become sensory aware of your own body.
Like when you can feel the blood, warm and gushing through your veins. Or when you can feel your heartbeat in your fingertips.
When you can hear the sound of your eyes blinking. Or the burning in your cheeks when you cry.
When you remember your tongue is touching your teeth. And you can taste the flavour of your own saliva.
When your bones start to get itchy, but you obviously can’t scratch them. Or when you have to crack your knuckles but it simply won’t happen.
That feeling when you get pins and needles, but it makes your skin feel like it’s burning instead.
When you can feel the food digesting in your stomach. Or when the alcohol goes straight to the bottom making you feel all warm inside.
When you accidentally cut your finger nails to short and expose the bit of skin that’s not used to touching the air.
When you suddenly remember you have a face and now you don’t know if it’s “relaxed” or not. When you can feel your eyes dilating.
And the worst of all is when you can feel your fucking belly button. It’s so gross, everytime ut happens I want to rip it off with my teeth. It feels like being pinched and stabbed, with your nerve ending firing off for no reason. It’s so hard not to vomit every time it happens.

Anyone else have a song that makes their whole body vibrate as if it's blasting in an empty room? I just found a song like that and I love it!

I love laying in bed inside my apartment being able to hear distant trash trucks driving and slinging dumpsters, cars leaving/entering the lot, airplanes, people talking outside, keys jingling as they walk by, cars honking as they lock. Being autistic and adhd is like having supernatural hearing you do. not. want. and did. not. ask. for.

Actually being a human is pretty cool 😎
I wouldn’t want to be a robot that can’t feel sensations, smell, touch, taste things and have limited mobility! Can barely hug someone, probably doesn’t feel the deep meaning behind it either! Can’t express themselves through style!! Can’t freely think or come up with funny ass realizations or have a wack ass sense of humor!!! It’s cool asf you can chose your gender and sexuality, I’m talking about labels right now lol 😂 Learning is also pretty fun! You can learn about whatever and do research on that, time can be awesome sometimes, not for the most part since I’m impatient.
Idk that’s just me though, yes humans suck and having a body is honestly wack ass fuck and it hurts but it’s better than being made of metal I guess. I just watched someone rant about an AI threatening humans and it made me come up with this deep realization, a fucking robot can’t do that!
My point being feeling and movement is good 👍🏼 😊
