BACKSTORY
Sunhee was born on July 5, 2004, in Busan, South Korea, to her Japanese mother Kudo Yoko and her Korean father Park Seon-woo. She has three siblings; an older sister named Ji-min and two younger brothers named Dae-won and Dong-woo.
She comes from a lower-class family. Her parents have always struggled with money. They had to work multiple jobs to be able to afford a living.
Despite being half Japanese, Sunhee has never been to Japan. She spent her whole childhood in Busan. In high school, she got interested in K-pop after her friends told her about it. She really liked the idea and wanted to become an idol together with her friends, so she taught herself how to dance.
In November 2021, she went to Seoul with her friends for the SM Weekly Audition, even though her parents were against it. She performed NCT's Black on Black and got in.
On June 30, 2023, SM Entertainment announced the pre-debut reality show "NCT Universe : LASTART" which would create the fifth and the last NCT unit. On July 11, 2023, SM Entertainment released a video introducing Sunhee as a trainee who will be competing on the show. The first episode premiered on July 27.
On September 6, 2023, the final episode aired which announced Sunhee as one of the trainees debuting in NCT's new unit.
On October 19, 2023, NCT NEW TEAM with Sunhee as one of the members, released a pre-debut single "Hands Up".
On January 18, SM Entertainment announced NCT NEW TEAM will debut as NCT WISH.

Better late than never, right? On my first watch of this episode, I'm not going to lie; I was a bit harsh on it. I couldn't keep the inconsistency and off-model nature of the episode out of my mind (most of which I hope will be fixed in the Blu-rays), and it kind of blinded me in my real assessment of this episode. I want you guys to keep in mind that this is one of my favorite mangas of all time, so I have very high standards for it. Seeing these production issues crop up just isn't a great feeling when the animation itself is already quite limiting.
Despite all of that, I'd still describe it as a reasonably decent episode, though not quite on par with episode 1. However, it did feature some remarkable shots that were visually stunning, courtesy once again of Hirotsugu Kakoi's art direction plus his team at Kagoshima Ramecahirim. The storyboarder of this episode, Toshiyuki Sone, while quite derivative of the manga, I believe, had many shots that make great use of the excellent background art and has a serious sense of depth.
When the scenes are good, they're REALLY good. I've noticed that the show particularly shines during nighttime, and I absolutely love it; it has become my favorite visual aspect of the series so far. Recently, I saw someone describe The Witch and the Beast as a grotesque and gory show, which is only partly true. This manga is aesthetically inclined, balancing the gory and the beautiful, and I believe these specific shots emphasize that quality. The new city setting is dark, empty, and moody, yet it's visually captivating—almost like eye candy. The ethereal lights style, illuminating everything, coupled with the depth and details presented in the aftermath of the victims, all come together in a gory yet beautiful amalgamation for example.
The animation in this episode was still overall limiting, but it wasn't one that particularly needed much per the narrative (of this episode). As mentioned before, the consistency really bothers me, along with some odd choices that could perhaps be attributed to the direction of this episode. The zoom in with Ashaf casting his spell looked low-res when zoomed in and somewhat disrupted my immersion in the episode. Guideau hitting the handrails had this weird effect applied instead of proper animation, which felt awkward. The entire restaurant scene in the second half of the episode was extremely off-model. Despite these issues, the actual episode, both in the narrative adaptation and the background/board ideas, still meshes pretty well with my vision of the manga.
I also hope that, considering this is arguably one of the less important arcs, when we reach Episode 4, which focuses on Johan and Phanora's arc or beyond (don't worry, I'll write about Episode 3 right after this), there will be an improvement in the production levels compared to what we've seen in this episode. I'm optimistic that they've been saving their staff for these more significant episodes. While I acknowledge that this isn't the best production ever, I appreciate the art direction, some of the storyboarding has been quite good, and the show as a whole has been a decent adaptation of the manga. However, I would like to see more consistency going forward.
There are some very funny arguments people are throwing around -
1. Build getting the role because of Poi
Did people forget that Mile came to know about auditions etc because of writers. He knew them?! .. All the crap behind “the character was modeled after you” is crap. Writers said that about Pete, they said that about Kinn.
Bible knew someone on the team and thus came to auditions.
So, if Filmania indeed willingly let themselves be influenced on whom to choose as the cast based on writers’ recommendations, then honestly audience should doubt each one of those casting.
BOC recasted a few. So, if an actor was not fit for the role he was meant to play, he would have got recasted.
This is slippery slope, and not just Build case!
2. Pond and BOC
When last scandal happened, i am positive Pond and BOC would have really put pressure on Build to divulge every little secret.
Poi’s apparent confessions state Pond knew about Build’s financial manipulation.
LMFAO. All could be true, but i question Pond and his non existent ethics. Why were you willing to sign an artist when he knew he is trouble.
This industry is too sharp and dirty to not know whatever crap is happening with people in the industry.
(Totally reminds me of Kim Hyung Jung, ss5/boys over flowers, and Kim seon ho controversy)
3. Poi
She is ousted , BOC refuses to work with them (yok, poi) anymore, KP is taken away from them.. and yet BOC chooses to keep build?
SYNOPSIS: verse’s school of arts, a very popular and hard to get into academy, holds a dance competition a few weeks before the start of the new school year. the prize being a free scholarship to the arts academy. enhypen, a popular dance crew signs up, they win. Heeseung watches as his captain Jungwon bumps into a girl while he was celebrating and heeseung immediately feels drawn to her.
It's weeks later and school is about to start and Heeseung still can't get the pretty girl out of his mind. After his first day, he checks his phone and sees the enhypen group chat blowing up, and the last thing he expects to see was the pretty girl going viral…for being jungwon’s ‘sister’
LEE HEESEUNG ( portrayed by HIMSELF ) 18
(second year) doesn’t really pay attention to people that aren’t his friends. he gets tired of the attention he gets from his ‘fan girls’. he’s normally quite and seems unapproachable when he’s not with his friends. he feels the most comfortable with his friends. he doesn’t have a good relationship with his parents, they don’t accept his passion for dance. he works at a record store. he enjoys riding the subway. he likes going to the park and playing basketball, normally at night. he’s a really good singer, but only his friends know that (he doesn’t like singing around people) he has a problem opening up about his feelings. he’s always there for his friends. sometimes he plays video games with Jake and niki. has been in one relationship and it ended badly, hasn’t been or wanted to be in a relationship since then. loves deers. #1 niki and jake lover
PARK JONG SEONG ( portrayed by HIMSELF ) 18
(second year) jay shares a room with jake. most days he picks up sunoo and jungwon up for school. jays the designated cook at the apartment and is also in charge of choosing the outfits for the teams dance competitions. jay loves dance but his passion is fashion design. he’s always being teased by his friends, so sometimes he gets relentless with his teasing as well. he has a soft spot for jungwon, so he goes easy on him. him and heeseung are really close and feel comfortable opening up to each other about how they are feeling. sometimes surprises jungwon at the animal sanctuary and brings him food and drinks #1 jungwon fan
SIM JAE YUN ( portrayed by HIMSELF ) 18
(second year) shares a room with jay and makes jay regret it everyday! either because he stays up late playing video games with niki and a mysterious overwatch player, or he wakes up super early to go to the gym. jake is super friendly and always try’s ways to make more friends. probably embarrasses himself once a day. gets virtually and sometimes physically attacked by niki everyday. heeseung is jakes favorite person and he makes that very clear. was a lifeguard for like 2 weeks before he quit because he was scared his skin would get bad. he’s oblivious to the fact that he’s a lady’s man. has a comfort stuffed animal dog, called Layla, he’s very attached to it #1 heeseung lover & niki hater (and secretly lover)
PARK SUNGHOON ( portrayed by HIMSELF ) 18
(second year) he has his own room at the apartment. he got really popular on twt and insta for his modeling photos. he’s always late to the dance practices. he sends his grocery lists in the enhypen group chat and totally goes off on anyone who complains about it. he’s genuinely funny without trying. he’s kinda narcissistic…but like look at him, ofc he is. he knows he’s hot, and finds it very amusing that he has so many ‘fan girls’ he sometimes joins heeseung playing basketball. is obsessed with sunoo’s baking. sunghoon works at the ice rink. sunghoon knows of Stella because there dads work together, they have talked a few times, but that was years ago. #1 sunoo hater and lover
KIM SEON WOO ( portrayed by HIMSELF ) 18
(second year) sunoo works at a ice cream shop, but is thinking about quitting, and working at a cafe he has went to a few times. his friends get confused how he seems to just know everyone (he’s just really friendly) he knows everything about everyone. he’s the one who came up with there weekly movie nights. sunoo bakes whenever he’s stressed. can get sassy and witty but his friends are used to it. had an anonymous gossip account that got popular, but he lost the password and can’t get back in. only niki and sunghoon know that he was behind the account. knows how to play the piano and likes to send melodies to heeseung so he could sing to them (that’s a secret between the two of them) has a fear that his twt drafts will accidentally get posted (some juicy gossip fr) #1 sunghoon lover and hater
YANG JUNGWON ( portrayed by HIMSELF ) 18
(second year) he’s a tired dance captain for real. he’s the second youngest but acts and feels like the oldest. jungwon is genuinely the sweetest person and wants the best for his teammates. he calls niki every morning because he knows that niki most likely slept through or turned off his alarm clock. him and sunoo are neighbors and have known each other the longest. jungwon has a treehouse in his back yard that he and sunoo have played in since they were kids, niki is the only other person who has went inside (they have sleepovers, and niki terrorizes them with his scary story’s) he volunteers at the animal sanctuary. #1 jay lover
NISHIMURA RIKI ( portrayed by HIMSELF ) 17
(first year) niki is the youngest member of enhypen. he is actually the most chaotic person ever, and is always finding a way to tease/troll the other members. niki is an absolute dance machine, he loves dancing. the first game he ever played was just dance. even though he stays up most of the night playing video games, he’s always energetic. his most played game is overwatch and he has been queuing with the same person and he can’t stop bragging about how good they are in the enhypen group chat. they have never talked in voice chat but niki swears he’s in love with them. he genuinely has dirt on everyone. a very talented drawer #1 jake teaser & lover

such a cute little drama. i was attracted to it because of a singular clip on youtube when ji eun is comforting joseph while woo min laughs.
i. the centre point of the drama which COMPLETELY made it my favourite was the friendships. even tho joseph and ppyoji were a segment and seon ho and woo min the other, they all complimented each other so well. perfectly showed the dynamics of a four-people friend group where two people are closer to each other. but it didn't deter seon ho and ji eun to be so close to each other, nor did it stop joseph and woo min to love each other.
another thing about friendships is the love between boss and employee, ms oh and ji eun, mr do and woo min, joseph and esther.
the friendships of joseph and ji eun was so comforting, them being each other's hype men and always there. seon ho and woo min was personally very attached to me because of the nature of call out friendships mixed with the same rough affection we all have.
ii. i am SO glad kdramas have moved on from the 'toxic parents' trope. i am so sick of seeing unsupportive parents and fathers who try to hide their emotions while the mother slyly tells the daughter who is shedding a tear. seon ho's parents were so fucking supportive and open about it. and joseph's mother, in the first ep, i thought she was going to be the airhead mother who's just...there. but she really is his biggest hype(wo)man and supporter.
iii. the thing that did bug me was when ji eun slept with woo min in the first ep despite being in a relationship with nam jin at the time. seeing how it was never discussed again i thought maybe i was mistaken but...idk. still bothers me a bit.
iv. but apart from that, THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THEM was so fucking charged. like, in the first ep, during the pub scene, you could literally feel the sparks in between them. even if it was a little predictable, we dont watch kdramas like these for the slice of life it offers, but rather a feeling of comfort.
v. seon ho. my woman. what a fucking badass. the way she stood up for those models? bad ass. also she's so fucking pretty.
ps - the side plot of do young was so weird and unnecessary did not get it. except when he showed that album to ji eun.
