meant to post abt this yesterday and ik it’s kinda mean but i think the counselor i have rn is the worst one ive ever had possibly even worse than (or tied w) the one i had over the summer who kept ending our sessions well before the full hour was up when i was going thru a horrible time and kept spending the sessions mostly talking abt herself and her own problems. actually no now that i write that out she was probably the worst (though she was one of the warmest / nicest and our personalities meshedreally well so i feel bad saying that she was the worst). but the one i have now is so…. lke idk. my experience w the worst counselor made me rly want to work w a clinical intern again bc i wanted someone who would like. actuallytake things seriously and give me the time i was paying for and spend all of it talki ng abt the things i was paying to talk abt and draw from the most recent / cutting edge info instead of entirely personal experience (WHICH AGAIN I FEEL SO BAD ABT BECAUSE. my work is all abt healing each other by sharing things like that and i realt did like her but it just wasn’t appropriate i guess bc it was a counseling relationship!) but my current counselor is so… rigid and restrictive. like i think he is trying too hard to apply what he’s being taught and he seems like nervous and talking out of his ass and he masks that by taking up SO much space and spending like 3 minutes responding to every one minute i talk and literally like strongarmimg the convos and deciding what we’re going to talk about and moving us on to a new topic abruptly before i feel ready to move on and like taking time out of our sessions to do paperwork / admin stuff so he doesn’t forget later (and a lot of the time i think he’s doing it while im talking bc i see his eyes moving around his screen and the light on his face like he’s not even listening to me). and it fucking sucks. i want to crack him like an egg so bad and make him realize it doesn’t have to be this way but i know that’s not my responsibility and in our session last night i basically gave up trying to create enough space for myself and just let him steer things bc i was having side effects and it was just rly unsatisfying

#purrs #i know it is entirely within my right to address these things both for my sake and for his / his future clients but im so scared lol like i #don’t want to tell him he’s doing a bad job and making it hard for me to navigate but literally when you keep steamrolling and silencing me #and cutting me off and forcing me around… yeah. also he has to record our sessions and show them to his profs / supervisors and it’s so like #idk. ive been recorded in sessions before and im totally fine w it but there’s 2 things abt this specific instance of it thst distress and #annoy me. 1) when we sign on to our session he says like 2 things to me then starts the recording and is TOTALLY fake and forcing it like #hello tess welcome to our session and he’ll repeat some of the stuff he said but in a more like.. extensive way so it just feels rly fake #to me lol. WHICH ALSO REMINDS ME 1.5) not related to the recording but every time he asks me questions he asks like… 3 questions but doesn’t #give me space to answer the two like it’s just a bridge for him as he&/ working his way to the thing he actually wants to ask me and i #fucking hate when ppl ask me questions and then answer them themselves or like don’t want to hear the answer. i had 2 profs like that in #brighton and it fucking pissed me offff so being around someone who does that again is rly agitating ik it’s just a nervous habit but yeah. #and 2) i am kinda concerned that none of my counselors profs or supervisors have seemed to call him on how he doesn’t give me space or let #me guide the convo. like idk maybe it’s just that all of my counselors before him were too loose w me but i feel like it s not supposed to f #feel this rigid and i am kinda scared abt the implications of no one actually watching these recordings and see how i try to speak but he #almost always talks over me and i just give up. lol. i like him he’s a nice person i just think he’s nervous and trying too hard and it #would be passable for like.. the little kid clients who usually go there but it doesn’t feel good for me a 23 year old who has had like what #6 counselors before him all of whom gave me space and didn’t shove me around. i miss the counselors i had from oct 2020 - jul 2021 and sept #2021 - feb 2022 they were the best ever and i am inches away from terminating here and just trying to go to wherever they are full time now #and working w them again bc they rly got me and i didn’t know how good i had it lol. i guess i don’t need someone as good anymore bc things #in my life are objectively better than they were during those times but my mental health is still bad so i would uhhh… like someone good #and don’t think that’s too much to ask and need to get it into my head that i CAN ask it. ok rant over #*no one actually watching the recordings has seen / pointed out to him how he steamrolls me etc etc

You’re laying with your back propped up against the headboard, fiddling mindlessly with your fingers while deep in thought. You’ve had a suspicion that he had been cheating on you for quite some time now, but somehow you’d managed to convince yourself otherwise.

Why was it bothering you so much now, you wonder? Because he’d called you by a different nickname. It wasn’t unusual, but it was odd. Of course, it was something small. But even the way he’d walk out of the room to take a call (something he’d never done before), and then come back with a large smile on his face, utterly pleased with himself, was suspicious.

“Babe?”

Your head darts up to the doorway where Hyunjin is leaning against the door, hands folded over his chest. He’s dressed and ready to go already.

“Can’t you stay a while longer?” you ask hopelessly, already knowing what his answer will be. Doesn’t matter that you just had sex—he’d leave immediately after. It sent a tidal wave of alarms off in your head that you’ve been pushing down for god knows how long now, all because you want to believe that no, he wouldn’t do that to you.

He smiles at you sadly, looking down at his combat boots before clearing his throat. “I’ll be back tomorrow?”

You sigh, sliding out from under the covers to get dressed. Hyunjin watches you closely as you get dressed into your own clothes, choosing for the first time in forever to not wear something of his before you saunter close. With a hand on his shoulder, you stand on the tips of your toes to place a resigned kiss to his cheek.

“See you tomorrow.” You smile sadly before turning back and sitting down in bed, hopping onto Twitter to distract yourself.

Hyunjin feels the guilt eating at him as he exits your apartment, shoving it down when he receives a picture of Olivia in lacy-black lingerie.

Hyunjin bites his lip, looking dejectedly back at your door before heading to Olivia’s house a few blocks away.

It’s unsurprising when exactly four months later you see Hyunjin’s phone ding with a notification from Livia🍑. You look at the bathroom door, steam emanating through the crack at the bottom while Hyunjin hums to some song he heard on the radio.

Biting your lip, you unlock his phone (you shared passwords when you moved in together) and check the message only to close your eyes quickly after seeing it. What person would ever feel comfortable sending pictures of them masturbating?

Hyunjin comes out of the shower whistling, stopping immediately with his hand gripping the towel around his waist. You look at him with a pissed smile and sad eyes.

At this point I don’t even wanna know.” You shove the phone into his chest, tears streaming down your face as he blunders, stumbling over his feet and his words to try and get you to stop and listen. He knows he’s too late by the determined shoving of your clothes into a travel bag, just wanting to get back to your apartment. Anywhere he isn’t.

“Don’t. We’re over,” you spit, wiping your tears with the back of your hand before fumbling to unlock the door through your blurry vision. “I’ll move your stuff.”

Her IG clean-ups began right after she filmed Mrs. Harris at the end of 2020. I would argue it more had something to do with her new reps at UTA telling her to clean-up ahead of time for her first big English language project to be released. It can also be argued that this was the same time she was with Lucas, and getting a lot more attention. She might have also been cleaning because of that.

I was looking through old jewelry stuff and found a necklace Karlie wore for about 6 months, from about Sept 2019-April 2020. It was a gold disk that was engraved with “I can and I will” on it. As our resident jewelry expert, any theories on what that may have been about?

so this necklace is something that i assume was bought along with two other pieces from the same brand because they appeared around the same time and she wore them often interchangeably, and frequently together. the necklace is by Zoe Chicco.

in addition to this disc with the mantra “I Can and I Will” inscribed on it, the necklaces i associate it with are a strand of graduated gold disks and a ‘sunbeam medallion’ which she actually wore a ton on its own.

the mantra necklace was most frequently worn within the set of these three and at the time it felt very much like just, idk, a trendy layered look, and she wore them so often that honestly i did not keep track of the necklaces well. so i had to do a little bit of poking around.

as for what the mantra means, you know, this is just a loosely formed thing but… i will offer a quick thought

in retrospect, she wore the necklace along with the other two during a very specific time period, right? a little after taylor’s masters were bought by scooter, all the way up until she headed for LA a few months into quarantine. so if you think about late 2019-early 2020 as being this time where everyone thought karlie further betrayed taylor and where karlie went to places or events where scooter was and such… and how following this period of time scooter’s infidelity was eventually exposed and he divorced and a lot of his business dealings soured, and we got songs like mad woman, vigilante shit, and karma —songs that i do believe show that karlie stuck around scooter and got dirt on him for taylor— then, within that context, i think that the mantra “i can and i will” is pretty… badass 🙈 like, if the amulette de cartier was for dark seasons of life that require courage, this mantra feels much more something suitable for… playing offense 😏

Lips stain (implied sexual things?)

They had been together for a while now.

Their first time having sex was at Takeda's apartment, away from the school and Ukai's parents. It was mild; frotting, fingering, lots of kiss here and there, no penetration but still good.

The first time they did penetration sex, at a hotel a bit further from Miyagi, Takeda can only go for one round. He was exhausted as soon as he came and can't go on anymore that he almost fainted. Ukai cleaned him when he was asleep, tossed the condom in the bin, and joined Takeda to sleep.

Ukai was scared too to be honest, he never done it with a guy. He had one or two experience with girl, but that's it. He never had any serious relationship before. Mostly it's just a highschool crush things, when they needed to focus on exam or anything school related, they'll broke up, usually it's something like that. They probably just want to make memories of their third years.

But this is Takeda Ittetsu.. the one he truly love and cherish; this gentle, kind and supportive man, helping him through and through despite their differences. He wanted to cherished him in every way he could. Helping him coach the Karasuno team is one thing, but Ukai had never been absolute serious in a relationship before.

He never felt a burst of butterfly in his stomach when he sees Takeda's bright smile when he provide him coffee whenever he came across the shop, he never felt so agitated waiting for the man to walk in front of the shop every morning, when he felt a brush of touch on the shoulder when he gets too close in drunken stupor, never felt his cheek flaming when he bent down to pick up the ball, his shirt loosely revealed his lean stomach, after the training was over.

Ukai is helpless.

Takeda is undoubtedly straightforward. He noticed how Ukai is different from the first month he coach the kids; he gradually changes. Sometimes it's fluctuate, but it's still there; the slight change in him.

Takeda asked him if any of the kids ever makes him uncomfortable (even he highly doubted it because they were all good kids, even Tanaka or Nishinoya who acted a bit like thugs but they're not!) Ukai laughed.

“What're you sayin' sensei? The kids are okay. They never dare to cause problem with me. Even if they did, Sawamura will take care of em.” he said.

“Oh,” he said, relieved. “I've probably overreacted,” he laughed along with Ukai.

How domestic, Ukai thought.

Takeda took off his glasses, to sip his served tea. Chapped lips on the brim of the cup, sipping silently, then apart, a breath escaped his now wet lips. He noticed Ukai's stare, yet his vision is a bit blurry. He lifted his glasses, the clinked sound seems to snap Ukai out, he flinched a bit.

“Ukai-kun?”

“W - What?”

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“I wasn't.”

Takeda smirked. It's fun teasing Ukai in public. He goes all bashful and red but in private, he'd tease back and ravish him with stupor over a simple wink. Takeda knew. He knew how dangerous yet exciting it is to tease him. He wanted to explore everything. He wanted to see what he will do if Takeda were to stole a kiss in public.

But they both know better; to be caught in a homosexual act in a small town could forever shattered Ukai's name and threatened his position here. Takeda lowered his lashes, somber, reaching for the kettle instead.

“Here,”

He refilled the cup.

“Have a drink.”

The warm cup pushed towards Ukai, subtly shifted where his lips has been directly facing the other man. Ukai knew. That spot where Takeda's lips has been. He brushed the cup briefly, taking it with two hands, a sip; a drip, trailing down his chin; to his nape.

“Shouldn't have drink too fast.” he chuckled lowering his voice.

And his thumb brushed the edge of his lips, down, to his bare nape; tracing the sweet tea; but his eyes never leaving Ittetsu, he dipped his eyes lower, lashes almost brush his cheek. He caught the little shift in Ittetsu: the glint in his eyes; his thigh drawn tighter and the way he bit his lips.

“You must be thirsty, Ukai-kun.”

It is not the tea he craves.

“Very.”

You left your house since your parents were having a screaming fit—as they usually did those days. Ever since your mother told your dad that she didn't love him anymore and that she had already filed for a divorce, the tension in the house had been unbearable. You hadn't thought it would start raining, so you were walking with your hoodie up to cover your hair and face, though it was starting to soak though the fabric and make you cold. Your phone rung, Goodbye (by 2NE1) blaring.

Not bothering to check the caller ID, you answered the call with a scratchy throat: "Hello?" You hummed into the phone half-heartedly, stopping underneath a tree.

"Y/N! Where are you? I heard your parents fighting but when I came over to check on you you weren't in your room—"

"Jisung, what have I told you about going through my window? If my mom finds out she'll kill us!" You scolded him, shaking your head disapprovingly

"Whatever, it doesn't matter! Just come to my house, okay? My mom is cooking dinner for us." You smiled softly, humming before turning around to go to your neighbor's house.

Once there you knocked on the door, a low thud accompanying each knock. Jisung opened the door with an excited smile, the smile slowly fading when he saw how wet you were, lips parted in shock.

“You must be freezing… come inside!" He ushered after a moment, quickly pushing you inside. "One sec, lemme grab you some clothes—" it took only a few seconds for him to arrive back with some of his clothes and a towel. "Go change in my room. Mom should finish with the food in a few minutes." He said, pushing you in the direction of his room.

"Y/N! The food's ready!" Jisung yelled just as you finished pulling one of his hoodies over your head. It had been laying on the ground somewhere, so you might as well, right?

"Y/N! It's so good to see you again!" Mrs. Han said with a welcoming smile, hugging you tightly. You smiled with a laugh, nodding.

"I missed you too, Mrs. Han." You said. "By the way, where's (J/B/N)?"

"Oh, he's away for a business trip—"

"Okay, stop talking about my hyung and come spend time with me," Jisung whined, pulling you away from his mother. You had met Jisung in your shared classes, since you were both music majors at school. You had hit it off with him, and when you found out he was your new next door neighbor, you were practically tied to the hip. You giggled as Jisung over excitedly dragged you to where the food was, holding your hand before stopping you in front of the soup.

"Quickly, take some before I finish it myself—"

"Okay, God. You're so impatient, you know that?" You said with a raised brow, unable to stop yourself from smiling.

"It's why you love me, Y/Nie." He retorted, scrunching his nose cutely. You chuckled, dishing up before heading to the dining room, where you and Jisung ate.

Mr. Han only came back later, having gotten stuck in traffic on his way home from work. He greeted you casually, since it wasn't unusual for you to stay over some nights. Jisung had only ever really stayed over at your house once or twice, since your father had never really liked him. You guessed it must've been because he didn't trust him, but you knew your mother adored Jisung, so you guess that's a plus.

"Y/N, are you done?" Jisung asked, looking up from his phone. You nodded as you took your last bite, finally finishing. You had kept getting distracted your thoughts, so it had taken a while. He smiled at you warmly, getting up with a stretch. You smiled at him gently, the image of his cheeks stuffed with food similar to that of a squirrel stuck in your head. You had told him that it was cute and it's exactly the reason why you had saved him on your phone as 'Squirrel bby🐿'.

"Shall we go to my room, then?"

"Mmm." You hummed, taking his hand and smiling up at him brightly: "가자~"

You were sitting with Jisung on his bed, listening to some songs he had produced, reading the lyrics he had given you. He was watching you nervously, biting his lower lip. It was already around 01:03, so his door had been shut to keep the two of you from waking up his parents.

Noticing the way he was biting his lip, you placed a comforting hand on his knee, patting it gently. He smiled at you softly, playing with your fingers until you finished.

"Wow, Jisung."

"What'd you think? Is it shit?" He asked, eyes flicking from his laptop to your eyes questioningly. You scoffed, hitting his arm.

"Yah! Stop that! It was great! The lyrics and beat are amazing... I love it." You reprimanded him, pouting. He giggled, bubbling with happiness as he leaned back with a hand to his cheek, face turning pink.

Leaning forward he squeezed your cheeks, taking his laptop and paper to put it on his bedside table.

"Aah, thank you, Y/N-ssi!"

You hummed quietly, yawning. He sighed, hitting the sides of his mattress. "차, I'm gonna go grab a mattress for you—"

"What? No, Sungie. You'll wake your parents~"

"But—"

"We can just share a bed, dummy~" Jisung went quiet, looking at you stupidly as you made yourself comfortable in his bed.

“What?" You questioned, wide eyed and cute as ever.

"You're not going to be uncomfortable?" He asked, hesitantly getting comfortable with you. You laughed at him, poking his cheek with a fond smile.

"Of course not! I trust you, Sung-ah. And anyway," You smirked, moving forward to wrap yourself around him, the exact reason why he always referred to you as 'koala'. "You're a very huggable size. We fit together perfectly—" He chuckled at that, slowly wrapping his arms around you. You cuddled further into his chest, a content sigh leaving your lips.

Jisung bit down on his lower lip once more, looking down at the top of your head nervously. Now or never, Jisung!

"Uhm, Y/N?"

"Mmm?" You had closed your eyes. God, he was so warm—

You hadn't cuddled with Jisung all that much, since you usually only watched television at your home, generally playing games when you came over to his place to hang out.

"If I told you I liked you, would you be mad?" He asked quietly, making you look up at him.

You propped yourself on your elbow, eyeing him scrutinizingly. "You're being serious?" You asked, voice soft as you watched him. With a nervous gulp, he nodded, looking at you. When, a minute later, you hadn't yet answered, he cleared his throat, looking away sheepishly.

"It's okay if you don't like me back, I wasn't expecting you to, any—"

Jisung's eyes widened comically, his hand squeezing the side of the covers in all of his shock. You had kissed him to shut him up, your hand on his upper thigh. Slowly, Jisung's eyes fluttered closed, his hand making it's way to cup your cheek gently. His thumb brushed over your skin lightly, sending a tingle down your spine. You pulled away, looking at him expectantly. When he finally re-opened his eyes, he looked at you with his lips parted slightly.

"Does that answer your question..?" You asked with a shy smile, searching his eyes. Not trusting his voice, the boy nodded, watching with a smile as you leaned in again. He put one hand on your waist while you moved to sit on his lap, wrapping your arms around his neck and playing with the tips of his hair, his other hand still cupping your face. A couple more minutes passed while you kissed him, finally pulling away. You watched him lovingly, smiling before resting against his chest, your head tucked under his chin.

He chuckled lovingly at you, holding you to his chest, sliding down the bed some more while still keeping you close.

"I love you." You whispered, making him kiss your forehead with a soft smile. You lifted your head to place a quick kiss to his shoulder, your hands resting idly on his hips.

"I love you more..." He challenged.

You moved back to look at him again, kissing him softly and leaning your forehead against his, lips still lightly brushing over one another:

"I love you most," You whispered.

Among both Democrats and Republicans, trust in scientists is lower than before the pandemic

A new Pew Research Center survey finds the share of Americans who say science has had a mostly positive effect on society has fallen and there’s been a continued decline in public trust in scientists.

Impact of science on society

Overall, 57% of Americans say science has had a mostly positive effect on society. This share is down 8 percentage points since November 2021 and down 16 points since before the start of the coronavirus outbreak.

About a third (34%) now say the impact of science on society has been equally positive as negative. A small share (8%) think science has had a mostly negative impact on society.

Trust in scientists

When it comes to the standing of scientists, 73% of U.S. adults have a great deal or fair amount of confidence in scientists to act in the public’s best interests. But trust in scientists is 14 points lower than it was at the early stages of the pandemic.

The share expressing the strongest level of trust in scientists – saying they have a great deal of confidence in them – has fallen from 39% in 2020 to 23% today.

As trust in scientists has fallen, distrust has grown: Roughly a quarter of Americans (27%) now say they have not too much or no confidence in scientists to act in the public’s best interests, up from 12% in April 2020.

How scientists compare with other prominent groups

The Center survey of 8,842 U.S. adults conducted Sept. 25-Oct. 1, 2023, finds that, despite recent declines in ratings, scientists and medical scientists continue to be held in high regard compared with other prominent groups in society. Smaller shares of Americans express confidence in business leaders, religious leaders, journalists and elected officials to act in the public’s best interests. As with scientists, most of these groups have seen their ratings decline in recent years.

Americans have expressed low trust in federal government and other institutions, like Congress, for decades. And political polarization – the widening gap between the views of Republicans and Democrats across a broad range of issues and attitudes – has come to be a dominant feature of American political life.

Differences between Republicans and Democrats in ratings of scientists and science

Declining levels of trust in scientists and medical scientists have been particularly pronounced among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents over the past several years. In fact, nearly four-in-ten Republicans (38%) now say they have not too much or no confidence at all in scientists to act in the public’s best interests. This share is up dramatically from the 14% of Republicans who held this view in April 2020. Much of this shift occurred during the first two years of the pandemic and has persisted in more recent surveys.

Confidence in scientists has also moved lower among Democrats. The share of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents with a great deal of confidence in scientists – which initially rose in the pandemic’s first year – now stands at 37%, down from a high of 55% in November 2020. But unlike Republicans, a large majority of Democrats (86%) continue to express at least a fair amount of confidence in scientists to act in the public’s best interests. The overall differences in partisan views remain much more pronounced today than they were prior to the coronavirus outbreak.

One of the starkest illustrations of polarization in views of science is the drop in the share of Republicans who view the societal impact of science positively.

Fewer than half of Republicans (47%) now say that science has had a mostly positive effect on society. In 2019, 70% of Republicans said that science has had a mostly positive effect.

A majority of Democrats (69%) continue to say science has had a mostly positive effect on society, though this share is 8 points lower than it was in 2019.

Republicans were largely critical of the country’s response to the coronavirus outbreak. For instance, large shares said too little priority was given to respecting individuals’ choices, supporting businesses and economic activity, and meeting the needs of K-12 students. In addition, many Republicans felt that public health officials’ personal views had too much influence on policy and that officials were too quick to dismiss views that challenged their scientific understanding.

Government investments in science

Despite declines in ratings of scientists and science, a large majority of Americans continue to see government investments in science as worthwhile. And most place at least some importance on the United States being a world leader in scientific achievements.

About eight-in-ten Americans (78%) say government investments in scientific research are usually worthwhile for society. Far fewer (20%) think these investments are generally not worthwhile. Large majorities across demographic and education groups see government investments in scientific research as worthwhile, as do large majorities of both Democrats and Republicans.

In addition, 52% of Americans think it is very important for the U.S. to be a world leader in scientific achievements; an additional 37% think this is somewhat important. These shares are more or less unchanged since last year.
