hi !! saw you reblogged my post, just thought i'd leave some advice because i have some basic piercing knowledge and a septum myself <3 i would highlyyyyy recommend getting a 16 gague hollow needle and a clamp off amazon (or somewhere similar) if you're planning to pierce yourself, that way you can get the correct jewellery also !! placement is super duper important, hence why you'd need a clamp. if it's wonky because you didn't use a clamp, you risk 1. hitting cartilage (very painful and bad for healing), or 2. having the jewellery sit on a funky angle and please bear in mind that your septum is actually really far up the front of your nose, if you pierce it too low/far back it looks really odd, maybe google some diagrams so you're 100% sure you know where it's going also, the balls on horseshoe septums are absolute pains in the ass, so if you need to be able to flip it up, get a retainer or something ?? or if you don't, get a clicker bc they're sooo much easier to deal with also septums can bleed a tad anyways, don't forget to sterilise and clean with saline !! happy piercing !! -hyd :)

i'll look into retainers bcs i'd need to hid it for a bit (from parents--they're cool with fake septums but would be less cool with a real one, so i'd hide it for abt six months(?) while wearing a fake one)

i hadnt thought abt a clamp-- i'll definitely be getting one, i hadn't realised the cartilage was that close
