Lermontova Nadezhda Vladimirovna (1885-1921) "Portrait of Sergei Solovyov." 1912.
One of the best students of Lev Bakst
Oil on canvas
Without a signature. On the back is the inscription: "Sergeyozha Solovyov / (from nature Etude) / 1912 / Nadezhda Lermontova / 1885-1921".
Origin: The lot is accompanied by a letter of provenance from the Chairman of the Collectors Club and General Director of the New Hermitage Gallery V.A. Dudakov: "The work... was purchased by me in 1986 along with 12 other works of the artist from her heirs in Kamarovo, near Leningrad, where we visited together with the Leningrad collector S.A. Schuster..."
Exhibitions: 1) Lermontov Family, Tarkhany Museum-Reserve, 1995; 2) Studio 3 Gallery, 2000.
The natural (etcturn) nature of the image allows you to take the date "1912" specified in the inscription and assign the work to the circle of early portraits of Lermontova, with which she debuted at the exhibitions of the "World of Art" in 1911-1912.
The inscription on the back indicates that the portrait depicts Sergei Solovyov - there is every reason to trust this statement: in 1915 Lermontova worked on the design of Solovyov's ballet "Golden Fleece" (the picturesque sketch "The Coast of the River with the Dragon" is in the State Russian Museum). Work for the theater in 1915 does not exclude an earlier acquaintance of Lermontova and Solovyov.
Expert opinion of the StateTG (Y.V. Brook, I.E. Lomize).
Sergei Mikhailovich Solovyov (1885-1942) - Russian poet. Son of translator M.S. Solovyov, grandson of historian S.M. Solovyova and A.G. Kovalenskaya, nephew of the philosopher Vladimir Solovyov, second cousin of Alexander Blok, friend of Andrei Bely.
Painter, graphic artist. Grand-niece of M.Yu. Lermontov. She studied at the historical and philological department of the Bestuzhev courses (1902-1907), in the Russian School of PG (since 1902), in the studio of D.N. Kardovsky, at the school of painting and drawing E.N. Zvantseva at Lev Bakst (1907-1910). The artist's Independent creative activity began in 1910, when, together with K.S. Petrov-Vodkin, A.P. Blaznov and N.A. Tyrsoy, she participated in the reconstruction of the interior decoration of the temple of St. Basil the Topless in the Hoop in Volyn, restored by A.V. Shchusev. Many of the artist's works were lost during the blockade of Leningrad.

This Russia ban is amazing for the sport, and is obviously well justified. But I would've liked it better if they had also banned the coaches. Because here I am enjoying pairs flopping and then BAM Sergei Dudakov shows up.

“For the longest time, I didn’t know there were two Sergei on Tutberidze’s Team. I only thought there was Sergei Dudakov and thought that he was the ‘hot Sergei’ and was really confused. Thank goodness there were two, and I realized that.”

They abused her, drugged her, humiliated her, broke her spirit and her bones before kicking her out because she was no longer useful to them and spoke her mind one too many times.

She is one of the most talented and beautiful skaters to ever grace the ice with her presence. Her triple axel was magnificent, her combos were massive and her stage presence was out of this world. I hope whether she decides to retire or continue competing with her new coaching team, that she will be happy and look after her health above everything else!
I also hope that Eteri hasn't blacklisted her to the point of losing income with sponsors and skating shows and she can continue to perform for all of her fans whether that be in a competition or under a spotlight.
Perhaps one day she will be able to reveal all of the mistreatment and abuse that really happens behind closed doors at Sambo 70.
