Me: *looks at the hunger games fandom*
Me: So peaceful. So content. Must be nice having your biggest problem be the movie title being slightly innacurate.
Me: *sighs*
Me: *looks back to see the other fandoms shes in*
*Batfam is sipping tea while being surrounded by destruction*
*Pjo is having a full on duel with rick with swords while shit is on fire and they are both cackling manically*
*jjk is drunk in the corner and doing something on their computer*
*hp just had a shouting match with jk and has disowned her*
*septimus heap sits in the other corner and yearns for recognition*
*marauders just stabbed themselves in the heart and is currently crying*
*marvel is chanting shit shit shit while desperately trying to figure out What The Hell They're Supposed To Do*
*miraculous is on the ceiling, screeching*
Me: *sighs again*
Me: *quietly goes to the secrets of nicholas flamel fandom. it is only me. Im the only one here.*

I love that a vital part of A Series Of Unfortunate Events is that Count Olaf absolutely refuses to shave his eyebrow. Just will not do it. Considers it an afront to mankind

My nerves were bad for those kids and I was constantly frustrated, especially since every book started with a warning

When Lemony Snicket said "I will love you as a thief loves a gallery and as a crow loves a murder, as a cloud loves bats and as a range loves braes. I will love you as misfortune loves orphans, as fire loves innocence and as justice loves to sit and watch while everything goes wrong. I will love you as a battlefield loves young men and as peppermints love your allergies, and I will love you as the banana peel loves the shoe of a man who was just struck by a shingle falling off a house. I will love you as a volunteer fire department loves rushing into burning buildings and as burning buildings love to chase them back out, and as a parachute loves to leave a blimp and as a blimp operator loves to chase after it" I felt that.

Imagine a piece of media with:
A plotline that starts out as a very simple in the beginning, with protagonists dealing with a massive an unquestionably evil threat. But as time goes on a conspiracy in the background appears, and an ongoing mystery becomes important, slowing taking over the plot, as spies and mysterious characters begin the appear. Things slowly become more morally ambiguous, and the conspiracy reveals a much larger society and much more extensive world, with a conflict that started generations ago, and the plot becomes about that.
The setting is either a low fantasy world or an alternate earth depending on how you interpret it. It's both more grounded and darker than most things in the genre. And it has a weird combination of things from different eras within the last few hundred years.
The heroes start out as passive bystanders, important due to what they are. But as time goes on, they become more and more knowledgeable about the world, and have much more autonomy in the plot. As the protagonists mature the story goes from being about survival to being about making the world a better place.
Violence is an important theme, with pacifism being seen as inherently leading to more suffering, but violence for the sake of violence being seen as evil. Instead, violence is seen as a necessary. The protagonists also tend to solve issues based off of intelligence rather than being stronger than their enemies. Humanity being seen as both capable of terrible destruction, but also a lot of good, and despite the darkness of the world, humanity is worth protecting.
There's a gay couple whose only sort of cannon because of something revealed in a letter way after their story.
The story opens with the main character's parents dying and their home being destroyed.
A lot of side characters die.
Everyone is Jewish coded.
This describes both Attack on Titan and Series of Unfortunate Events.
