Sent a text to mom asking if we could get a teddy Roosevelt terrier puppy cause I found a breeder of them near us that health and temperament test their dogs

This is what they look like(not my image). I will train the puppy to hopefully be our service dog we have a golden retriever that was supposed to be our service dog but he is poorly breed and ended up not being the right kind of dog fit to be a service dog

These are the tasks the teddy Roosevelt terrier will do there is probably some more but can't remember right now

1.Pressure therapy

2.Nudging at and leaning into chest when dissociated or catatonic licking face if that doesn't work barking (if at home for barking)

3. Picking up small items I drop

4. migraine alert

5. Circling and blocking (not sure if this will work with a small dog)

6. Nudging pawing or jumping and then pressure therapy when harmful stimming or meltdown or other episodes 7. Helping determine if things are hallucinations

8. Distracting from hallucinations

9. tactile stimulation

10. Getting caregivers if we are unable to move

11 keeping us calm in public with stuff like deep pressure, tactile stimulation

Hopefully mom says yes. I'll update if she says yes or no.

Noëls first vest (modelled by fudge my stuffed animal German shorthair pointer) it came with a pen and blank patches but the pen didn't work so I'll just buy some do not pet and in training patches on Amazon. I can't wait for this puppy

I'm getting another puppy to be my prospect. After finally retiring poodle into only doing therapy work (due to bad hips and general disinterest on his behalf), I have decided on my next prospect. She will be coming home April 26th, she is a mixed breed, she is an Australian shepherd/Collie mix, and I just went to meet her to solidify my choice. I absolutely adored her parents, and adored her even more. Her name will be Maeve (to match with Molly, my current service dog). I couldn't be more excited! She will be a little on the smaller side, which is fine, it what I was hoping for. But she is absolutely perfect!

Not looking for breed criticism or suggestions thanks! I know what I want in a prospect and this dog is exactly it.

about mischa

mischa is a maremma sheepdog x white swiss shepherd. he was born on the 5th of February 2021. he and i are working towards being an assistance / service dog team!

we live in australia and in a state that doesnt have assistance animal specific legislation, so our rights as an AD team are covered by federal law under the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) (the DDA).

mischa is training to be a psychiatric and mobility assistance dog. we have only just started to work on AD tasks and Public Access, and we aren't with an organisation, we work with a private dog trainer who has experience with (psych) assistance dogs.

Life updates! I haven’t been super active, so a lot has happened since my last post.  More health issues lately, causing dizziness, lightheadedness, and feeling like I’m going to pass out. I’ve had bloodwork done, a heart monitor, etc. and everything comes back normal. I’ll be seeing a specialist in a few months to hopefully get a better idea of what’s causing my issues. I also got a new puppy! Her name is Tillie and she’s a mini Aussie. I got her from a wonderful breeder in town.. Her older half-brother is my friend’s SDIT, her full sister from Tillie’s litter is my friend’s mom’s SD prospect, and Tillie is a prospect as well. Annie won’t be retiring anytime soon, but if Tillie has the potential to alert to migraines and/or whatever’s been going on with my health, she would be my medical alert dog. If it doesn’t work out, I might train her to be a therapy dog instead. And finally, I got my license! I can drive and I have more opportunities to do training and working with Annie and Tillie both together or separately.  I do have a tiktok but I’m not sure how active I’ll be on there. https://www.tiktok.com/@northwestmutt

Mom's husband is getting a job again I think? Means I might get to get my service prospect puppy (though might not be a teddy Roosevelt most likely and hopefully a golden or lab or standard poodle) and really really hope top surgery within the next year or two. I really need top surgery I want to be able to not have to bind and be in excruciating dysphoria. I want to go swimming again I haven't swam in a lot of years because of dysphoria. I want to be able to go swimming with my shirt off and be proud of my scars (though I'm not sure if it would be safe for my scars to be visible cause transphobia so I'll probably try and get them to be not visible) and I also really hope to get bottom surgery but that is even more expensive than top surgery so that will be a while probably but I think a packer would help until then (still don't have one cause I don't know how to tell mom that I need one lol and the packer I want is super expensive like 700 dollars i think) (this shit is so expensive we could have the property ready for a horse and get a horse for the price that top surgery is but i need top surgery more than i need a horse)

Completely pooped.

Today we spent about 4 hours at the local park with some of his doggy friends. The time was divided so 2 hours was play, and two hours (in 15 minute chunks) was training with the distraction of a bunch of other dogs. After that, went to do training at the mall during heavy traffic hours. We spent two hours training there and went through the whole food court as well as walking into the pet shop there (so very high distraction levels). Additionally, I allowed some very polite and respectful people to pet him, to work on ignoring petting while on duty.

Then we went to Petco and Petsmart to get his treats and more toys, as well as get a couple more plants for my fishtank. All told, we spent about 9 hours out and about today.

Vest designs I made and hopefully will get one day. If I get a Christmas one I'm using it even when it's not Christmas because I love Christmas. Noël will be for more then just our autism but I want my vests to say autism service dog so people know why I act like I do cause I stim a lot, I'm Nonverbal, meltdown in public but I'm worried might get access issues if I have autism service dog on my vests

finally got the ball rolling on joining an owner - training / advocacy & support assistance dog organisation...

i have my psych on board and just need her to sign the form, i had the vet health check today and that was all good except mischa is very very anxious at the vets. so the vet was concerned about that and advised a behavioral assessment . but i already knew that might be an issue and ive got a private trainer in mind who has worked with ADs before, its just finances (as always lol).

now i just need my psych to sign her forms and i need to sign a statutory declaration and then we can send them off.

also we went for a walk next to a river after the vets , because mischa was very brave at the scary vets lol. he half fell in but thats ok, its 26°C today
