Session Logs: 10/15/2022

The Halloween episode!

The player characters are transported to a haunted manor home somewhere unknown, with a creepy vibe. They explore a bit, discovering random bodies around the house, who turn out to be famous and wealthy men accused of serious crimes. They also discover a library full of books, one of which is open to a passage explaining that if a body sacrificed to a deity is consecrated before the soul has been collected by its assigned psychopomp, then that soul can be released to their god rather than being forced to the deity they have been sacrificed to, unless the soul has made some kind of agreement with someone else when they were alive.

They are interrupted after some time by the entry of Constance Hatchaway, who appears from the attic upstairs and demands to know what the characters are doing in their house. Constance is being possessed off and on by Paimon, the demon of Greed, who introduces herself as Uben’s parent and starts to interact with the characters directly. She makes two deals with them: One with Celia, and one with Briar. Constance is a Paimon cultist, and has been sacrificing these bodies to Paimon and receiving incredible wealth in return for her sacrifices. The bodies are consecrated, and Paimon loses out on some of the souls that were meant to be sacrificed to her by Constance. Lucifer seems to be entertained by this. The characters then wake up from this as though from a dream, except that Briar finds the comb in one of her pockets.

Deals:

Paimon gave Briar a comb to kill her stepfather with, in exchange for half of her stepfather’s money buried in the ground.

Celia bargained for assistance during her trip to Persephone’s realm to get back the soul of her beloved, in exchange for taking a few souls back with her.

grian: make 3 bad jokes and get NO laughs

status: completed; “we could’ve had the boo-geyman” to skizz, “i’m going to stick around” to mumbo, “lichen subscribe” to cleo, tango, and skizz (for some reason he thought he had to do 5 jokes)

bigb: dig a big hole. all the way down. at least 3x3. make it your base if you want.

status: completed(?); dug a 3x3 hole down until he hit a dripstone cave and couldn’t figure out how to continue. oddly, b’s task was written on a red scroll and worded differently to the others.

cleo: build your base directly above another player’s above ground.

status: completed; built a base over lizzie’s cherry wood protection hut

tango: get scar to talk about star wars for 90 seconds.

status: completed; talked to scar about ahsoka tano’s origins

skizz: don’t be further than 10 blocks from geminitay for ten minutes. one attempt only.

status: completed; stood near gem and confused impulse and scott atop cherry hill

jimmy: break 5 crafting tables while they are being used.

status: completed; broke mumbo’s crafting table 3 times, impulse’s crafting table 1 time, and skizz’s crafting table 1 time.

etho: collect 4 beds without being caught and place them on a shrine.

status: completed; took grian’s bed placed in etho’s base, mumbo and bdubs’ bed from their respective bases while they were arguing, and took cleo’s bed while they were fighting with skizz and tango

lizzie: write a poem about another player and read it to them.

status: completed; written for and read to joel

joel: plug the life merch at the worst possible times to other players at least 4 times.

status: completed; promoted to scar and jimmy whilst being attacked by a baby zombie, to cleo whilst jumping a ravine, to mumbo whilst luring two creepers towards him, and to the cherry collective whilst luring another creeper towards their camp

mumbo: make a pun at every opportunity in a 5 minute conversation, minimum of 3 successful puns.

status: completed; he found grian, what do you expect. it was way longer than 5 minutes

pearl: get 3 players to gift you their heart.

status: completed; gifted by lizzie (in exchange for a bone), etho (in exchange for a heart), and jimmy (in exchange for a shield)

scott: build your base directly and obnoxiously attached to someone else’s.

status: completed; attached a parasitic growth of a cabin to gem’s cherry house

gem: convince someone to take a leap of faith and make sure they take no damage.

status: completed; convinced lizzie to dive into water for a pumpkin, built a diving board atop cherry hill

martyn: build an identical base to another player.

status: completed; replicated lizzie’s base near the mounders

scar: call people anything but their username for at least 30 minutes of the session.

status: failed; called mumbo his name, then revealed his task to grian and mumbo

challenge task: come up with a nickname for another player and convince 2 other people to use it.

challenge status: completed; convinced mumbo and tango(/skizz?) to call grian “the light of the server”

bdubs: make your base deeply uncomfortable to use and look at.

status: completed; bdubs’ upside down house started a trend and also looks horrible, it is so hard to get into, and is tiny

impulse: make cherrywood your entire identity.

status: completed; convinced gem he likes cherry wood now, made a pink boat, handed out cherry saplings across the server, etc., he sure Did It

Ways to be Productive after School.

1. Take a break & relax about 40 mins or so.

2. Have a To-do list so that you don't have a excuse to procrastinate and get straight into studying.

3. Listen to music (especially, white noise or lofi beats) while studying which does not have lyrics so that it would not distract you.

4. Start off with the easiest subject so that it will build momentum and you could keep going.

5. If any of these are not working right now then you should watch study with me videos so that you have an online buddy to study with.

6. Get inspiration to study on Instagram or Pinterest, whenever you will see something inspiring about studies you will be down to do it.

7. Set rewards for yourself. When you know that after studying a particular topic, you will be rewarded then you are more interested to do it.

8. Don't have a start time instead have a end time, this is called the Parkinson’s law where you give yourself a deadline.

tumblr has always guessed your location based on your ip, you can see it when you go to your settings to view your active logins

that's not the same as geolocation or location tracking, which uses a GPS to pinpoint your actual location

the inherent fourth wall breaking of found footage stories not in the sense that the characters are leaving the fiction or able to look outside of it, but in the other direction that the audience becomes part of the fiction

#thinking of doug eiffel logs that we listen to that have the in-universe purpose to keep the main antagonist updated on their situation #thinking about characters in the bright sessions finding out and being upset about their sessions being recorded #the very recordings that are our only way in to the story #thinking of the hard-to-pin-down-at-first identity and purpose of the microphone in ars paradoxica #so omnipresent that you might not even register it as found footage at first #only to find out way way later on the whole town is bugged #(i think that was the reason? been a while)#thinking about the camera in carmilla that sometimes seems to have a will of its own and just Turns On when theres smth interesting happeni #the nature of being a character means you Are Being Watched #you only exist to be watched and when you are being watched #but sometimes #you can reach out and touch not the watcher per se but the medium #and you can look back #you can take control #you can unbug the house #turn off the camera #use it against the watcher #who is fucking up your life #because often that is what theyre doing #the in-universe watcher #it's almost impossible not to feel implicated as an audience member #and you are being cut off too #from the story #when the character fights against the watching of the antagonsit #when the character deceives the antagonist #you are also being deceived #like what they say abt hera when pryce is on board like. shes compromised. assume everything hera knows pryce knows. so you cant tell her #anyway

Session Logs: 10/1/2022

The Mine Adventure, Part II

Hacathra, who was floating in nothingness the entire time the party was gone, is discovered by Lucifer, who happened to be passing by. Lucifer performs some kind of scan on Hacathra, notes that there is something odd about her, and agrees to return Hacathra to her party in exchange for a lesser boon, which Uben then explains to her means that she owes Lucifer about a week of her time. Briar finds a baby monster and is struck by maternal instinct; must go back to town to buy a crib, register the baby for school, etc.

Lucifer appears in the cave and drops Hacathra off, and in a show of unusual graciousness turns off the poisonous gas for them. She then vanishes after booping Hacathra’s nose. The party, having defeated all of the drow and captured the one who was escaping, has some time to explore the caves. They find a strange machine with a device on the end that might fire a beam, made of brass and different metals. They also find a statue and altar to Lolth, on which is a prayer book open to a prayer for sacrifice, as well as a mural depicting a spider in the center of a web surrounded by dying members of every mortal race, and drow climbing ladders made of webs up toward the central spider. Espera scratches the mural, revealing some kind of possible door underneath it.

The party frees Nadine, who was in a cell located nearby the altar cavern, and her pink feather amulet that makes people talkative is returned to her. Ember loots the corpse of Vhurdaer, and finds minor treasure and a crystal amulet with a deep red feather inside that makes her feel incomplete without things. They then discover the treasure room, full of items stolen from families around the area, and the loot is divided up amongst the party. There is also a map of Pygmana with Xs in various places around the entire world. The drow is left behind in the treasure room, untied but with no way to haul herself up onto the surface.

As time consuming as all the recent back to back paperwork and Drs appointments have been with several big health events going on (big as in time consuming), because there's only a handful of parts that can handle paperwork and many parts REALLY dislike doctors and hospitals, I have been having a relatively quiet time in here.

Occasionally I'll get some intrusions before parts realize there's still paperwork I'm dealing with that I just feel a brief flash of irritation from them before they go back inside.

#Has led to some very mundane therapy sessions also that I usually never get around to talking about #.log #New trick (will only work a few times): look at wheelchair order form and immediately not be blurry because they fuck off

my ex is one of my best friends (in true lesbian fashion of course) and i’m their ‘witness’ for their autism evaluation so i’m staying with them for the week and their cats are ALL over me so i’m all sneezy and an allergic mess.

and they know about the kink so every time i have a sneezing fit they just give me this LOOK like they know how crazy it’s driving me

i am getting absolutely no work done because i am so distracted in multiple ways

#the ONE person i told about the kink also happens to be the one who sees me sneeze the most #if only they had the kink LOL they don’t see the appeal at all #they actually hate when i sneeze too much like get visibly annoyed #got a clingy ass cat in my lap and her tail is tickling my arms #it’s so obvious why we are exes like i had therapy today and i literally logged onto the zoom session WHILE WE WERE FIGHTING LMFAO #my therapist was like okay i guess we can do relationship therapy today (she is technically certified as one)
