Please remember that Jaken said that he would eventually collect Rin and bring her to the barrier where the twins were, so I truly believe that she raised the twins until the forest fire. Sesshomaru, Rin, and Jaken obviously didn’t tell Kaede where they were going, so it makes sense that she thought Rin disappeared.

Hey apparently sessrinners are doing a hogoshamaruweek week too, right after ours (Nov 1-7). They created a Twitter account called "hogoshamaruweek" to announce it. They literally said, "As many know, guardian/ward relationships that become romantic in nature are a common trope found in all sorts of media. With this event, we hope to explore both the spicy and the sweet side of SessRin’s guardian/ward relationship. Both General and NSFW works will be allowed!"

Hi anon. Thank you for telling me about this. We have been receiving some messages today regarding that week that shippers want to do. From what I have been told, it's like the romantic/sexual version of our Hogoshamaru week of Sesshomaru and Rin as father and daughter, and they are even using the same tags as ours! 🙄

I think the best thing we can do is not give them our attention and participate in our week of Sesshomaru and Rin as father and daughter. Let's create content that we like, let's share with other people who also see their relationship as parental. And never forget that:

Hogosha means parental figure.

In this week and blog that's the meaning we're going to hold onto. And it doesn't matter if a series wants to explore a different future, Hogosha's meaning does not change and in the OG story Sesshomaru and Rin have a beautiful father-daughter relationship. 🤗💕 For this week, let's focus on that.

Sessrinn do not interact if you’re goal is to argue that your ship is flawless

I think what many shippers get confused with when we’re against SessRin is that many of us don’t want to see it CANON. Its a problematic ship. Own it.

Did I also think the ship was wrong? Yes. I also hate incest ships in other fandoms or other child x trusted adult ships. Plenty of people ship problematic ships. I don’t particularly care what trash you write in your little pocket in Fanfiction or roleplay. In your fandom experience, it’s whatever, I can ignore it.

What I care about is the negative messaging that comes from the pairing. My most trusted adult will see me as fuckable someday. I will grow up to serve him and have his babies and have no other purpose in life.

You can write all the good intentions and consent you want into your fanfictions but the reality is, that’s not how those relationships work. Many adults look at kids we’ve taken care of and still see *kids*. Some adults don’t and they take advantage for * their * sexual gratification. Period. It’s not romantic, it’s predatory. There is 0 way Sesshomaru hasn’t groomed Rin, intentionally or otherwise. He’d influenced her the way an adult who is in a child’s life would. Be it a teacher, babysitter, father figure, friends dad, dad’s friend, uncle, etc. There can be no informed consent there.

In the general fandom experience, if it’s canon it’s not easy to ignore. Myself, It would not only make Yashahime unwatchable, but it now makes Inuyasha itself a tad triggering. Fans don’t owe each other their stories but many of us have been victims of these relationships ourselves. I read a post where one fan uses the ship to work through thier trauma, but that’s not the case for many of us, myself included. If that’s what you need go for it, but some of us need the exact opposite. Making it canon, removes that for us.

Do I think every sessrinner is a pedophile. No. I think the issue is more complicated than that. What I do think is if you’re dismissing the commentary of grooming in the ship, you’re missing the genuine reason for people not wanting your ship canon and you fail to acknowledge that the ship itself can be harmful media. You’re also ignoring that there are problematic issues that aren’t solved by simply aging her up.

Someone brought up Inukags and it’s problematic elements and yup, you’re right. Kagome can be manipulative and abusive at times. So. Can. Inuyasha. I can acknowledge the problems in that ship. It doesn’t make Sess Rin okay.

Even if Rin isn’t the mom. Sess Rin isn’t going away. Shippers ganna ship. I just wish this nonesense would end. I debated posting this all together because a subset of this base is nuts. If all this is triggering for you or affecting your mental state, please step back and self care. My inbox and dms are always open for rants and chats 🥰.

I LOVED the fight between Moroha, Towa and Kirinmaru. I ADORED IT.  It was so beautiful, epic, boastful.  I loved how Moroha and Towa “fought” over who would avenge Setsuna, and their auras taking the same of their demon blood!!  The girls were a little arrogant, even!  It was just, ugh, SO GOOD!

Like, Honest to God, just perfection.  If only Setsuna could have seen them 😭

You know what, I'm going to say it.

I think Yashahime will have a second season.

Despite what some fans see as controversial, it was the 4th most watched daytime anime in Japan in 2020, and its trended quite a bit on twitter! It also has characters that reached the top 100 in Animage Magazine, though I'm sure that's just hard-core subscribers.

Good on you Yashahime!

Another reason why I think there could be a second season is the way they have been talking about Riku. Or in general, the antagonists of Yashahime. You have Kirinmaru, Riku, and now Zero. They all seem pretty serious villains. And even in some interviews, they talk about whether the girls will be strong enough to defeat Kirinmaru.

So what if they aren't strong enough? Or maybe they defeat Zero, freeing Rin from from her sleep, take back Setsuna's memories, but everything else is left unresolved?? And Kirinmaru escapes, but not before injuring Sesshoumaru (because otherwise he is too powerful to stick around).

So then that would leave things up in the air for season 2. We get Rin back, but Sesshoumaru is temporarily of the picture, which in turn let's the three Yashahimes continue trying to fight Kirinmaru. I'm not sure how Inu//kag fits into this, but they could come back into the story only to be de-powered as well (I should emphasis no one is dying here, unless they are a new character).

I could be wrong as well and everything wraps up nicely. But I don't think Sunrise would do that. I definitely think there will be a second season. There's so much of the inuyasha world left to explore.

You know what I find really funny?  This episode showed us YET AGAIN, that the Shikon no tama doesn’t ever truly grant you your wish:

Zero wished on the Shikon no tama to get rid of her heart and her grief, but at the end, she was killed being consumed by jealousy, a human emotion.  The only thing the jewel truly gave her were the pearls in exchange for her demon power!

How wonderful is it to have a show where the heart of it is about three cousins learning to rely on each, to be a real family to each other.

Found family is great, I love seeing people choose their friends to be families. It gets me everytime!  But I also love seeing people mend their biological families, I love seeing broken parts coming back together, being stronger than they were before.  Its what Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha couldn't do.

Its easy to blame Inupapa (and I still do) but we know he tried. He wanted his sons to rely on each other, but it didn't work out until the damage was done. For Sesshoumaru at that time it was too much work for too little, especially when he didn't understand why Inuyasha existed in the first place. If only Sesshoumaru had realized it earlier.

But the Yashahimes are coming together bit by bit and its warming my soul. Even though the girls were separated from their parents, in a strange way it allowed them to grow closer unburdened by family history. Their fathers' distrust of each other won't get passed down to them, there’s no bitterness of what could have been.  Towa, Setsuna and Moroha get to know each other, and choose each other.  Its what Inu no Taisho had wanted.
