Hi! I was watching some s1 episodes of gravity falls and was reminded of ur vid abt queer coding. u mentioned that mcgucket doesn’t have that much within the text (which is very true) but i noticed something that wasn’t mentioned there: in “boyz crazy” his interest in Sevral timez is likened to that of Mabel and her friends (also played off as a joke 😐). I like ur vids a lot they r very thought provoking and I like having Thoughts about gravity falls :]

I actually mention that Sevral Times joke in the credits of my queercoding video - it's one of the points that didnt fit into the larger video. But I completely agree! The show's S1 treatment of McGucket is really all over the place and kind of messy.

kinda doubt i’ll ever do anything with this but i have a tentative idea for a gravity falls cis swap with the twins.

dipper is still called dipper most of the time, and mabel has a charming little old man’s name. i’m going with merlin as the placeholder. the big differences here would be

1. merlin still makes sweaters and dresses basically the same, but he incorporates a lot of space imagery into his crafts because people were mean to dipper about her birthmark when they were kids and he was like NUH UH SPACE IS GREAT! MY SISTER IS WAAAAYYY COOLER THAN YOU!

2. merlin is visibly very very gay. like he’s basically just... always known. his parents are supportive enough that when he was a kid and kept showing interest in so much “girl stuff” if he was an egg they would have let him socially transition. but merlin’s really just really visibly, flamboyantly gay. boy bands. glitter. he’s a lot more careful with his flirting and crush of the weeks than in original canon because. you know, not always safe to be as upfront about that for a gay boy as a “straight” girl, but the gnomes, mermando and gabe all still happen.

2. the teasing about dipper not actually being “manly” enough slips into much different places. merlin laments a lot of the time that his sister doesn’t want to do girly things with him, he’ll gently poke her about how tomboy is another word for “baby butch”, and a lot of “ugh, you’re hopeless. you could at LEAST let me do some makeup for you”

3. One of the first things that happens when they get to gravity falls is merlin saying “HI! I’M YOUR GAY NEPHEW!” and then grunkle stan says, “uh, i’m your gay uncle?” 

“Wait, really?” merlin asks. 

Dipper crosses her arms over her chest. “I thought dad said you were married to a woman once.” 

Stan rolls his eyes. “Fine, I’m bisexual. That clear enough for ya?” 

“CRYSTAL QUEER!” Merlin crows. Dipper groans. 

4. Okay so. There is no copyright restriction in my fanfiction ideas (plus i think that disney would actually LOVE the synergy of this) so dipper is very into percy jackson and she projected HARDCORE onto annabeth. She’s like look! there she is! A smart tough tomboy!!!! And she has a lil crush on percy so she’s like smushing her dolls together in her head. But a lot more subtly because she’s dipper and she’s embarrassed about everything. 

5. Merlin loves Sevral Timez. Dipper HATES them. While dipper does sometimes like guys, she is insistent that boy bands are a cash grab, manipulative, a way for companies to bleed girls dry while making fun of them, and pathetic. Merlin tells her to lighten up and goes to the concert with candy and grenda. Dipper reads her little mystery novels in their room. 

6. Dipper IS bi. She DOES like girls, but she’s been in denial about that already for years. She had a boyfriend in fifth grade. They hung out on the playground and held hands and junk. Merlin is still convinced that she’s bisexual and brings it up CONSTANTLY, but stopped and now only brings it up when it’s the two of them because he knows it upsets her. (he thinks that she’ll be much happier once she just accepts who she is though!) 

7. Merlin tried his best to ignore his own bullying, stay away from the guys it wasn’t safe to be around, and stick to hanging out with either the girls who were legitimately fine with him or wanted to pretend to have a gay best friend. He was caught up enough in avoiding HIS bullying that he didn’t notice DIPPER’S bullying. Dipper is a bit of a “not like other girls” type in this scenario, but that’s mainly the result of most other girls being mean to her. While SHE hasn’t accepted that she likes girls, the mean girls in class have decided that it’s gospel truth. There’s a lot about her “finally coming out” and her “finally matching” her brother. I would go into further detail but I think “the bullying was homophobic, partially due to her gender presentation and partially due to her brother, and a lot of it is centered around their first year of middle school gym and changing in company”. Dipper and Merlin both change inside a stall to prevent harassment. Not yay. 

8. Dipper’s crush on Wendy is not any smaller than in canon, but she frames it to herself as just wanting Wendy to stay single because boys suck. Merlin is very pushy about it being a crush crush and. Well. Robbie is an insecure little shit and he’s not super emotionally intelligent, but he knows that Wendy is bi and a little girl isn’t any less threatening to him than a little boy. When Robbie spills the beans about Wendy liking girls too (which is a lot of reason that he’s still threatened by dipper and still so confrontational right back at dipper who thinks that she’s just Protecting Her Friend From Shitty Boys), Dipper goes through about six and a half crises as she realizes that it would actually be. Possible. For wendy to want to date her.

9. Once she’s done freaking out about that and has to talk to wendy about it (because merlin forces her into the same situation as in canon) Wendy assures her that it’s perfectly okay that dipper has a crush on her, she knew, but that it’s just not going to happen. She DOES take one of the queer pins off of her shirt and give it to dipper as a keepsake, though. 

10. when stan finds her in the pin he’s THRILLED

“You bi too, kid?” stan asks. Dipper nods. Stan claps her on the shoulder. “Welcome to the family.” 

Dipper frowns. “Aren’t I already family?” 

“The other type of family,” stan says, winking. And that’s when it sinks in that it’s a euphemism for queer. <3

11. things are probably still going to suck when they go back to piedmont, but... both the twins are a lot more confident in themselves after this summer. after saving the world, how could they NOT be?

Okay I need to know all about Psychonauts Fslls

An ask? I'll take it!

Admittedly I haven't thought much about this AU lately, but have everything that comes to mind: (Also, to avoid confusion, Ford Pines and Ford Cruller will be referred to as Ford P and Ford C, respectively)

Gideon Gleeful's amulet was made of Psitanium, based on Ford C's description of the mineral "making psychics more psychic, but also making unstable people more... unstable". Gideon's dad put him on TV as a newborn, so he was already a little unstable. :V

The Pineses and the Aquatos share a common ancestor - Tanya Romanoff, Caryn Pines' mother, who was also a literal fortune-teller that ran with the circus. Fled to America from Grulovia with her husband back in the 20s when the Gzar at the time blamed the Russian Revolution on psychics and tried to have them all rounded up.

Caryn's sister Shprintze returned to Grulovia later to marry circus ringmaster Angelo Aquato, had a son called Lazarus, got divorced and went back to America (whereupon she married and got divorced two more times, but that's another story). Tanya had some latent psychic abilities that she passed down to her descendants, but not nearly as strong as the Galochios'. The majority of them never even realized they had psychic potential at all.

(Brief sidenote - in this AU, the Deluge of Grulovia happened 30 years before the events of Psychonauts, not 20. TBH it just makes more sense to me that way, given the ages of the characters involved and the events that took place during that time gap, and here it has the added bonus of coinciding roughly with Ford P's disastrous portal test. :V)

In the 'present', Dipper Pines & Razputin Aquato, distant cousins, know each other over the internet, whenever Raz can access a computer. They basically never get to see each other in person, for obvious reasons. They mostly swap True Psychic Tales theories and trivia and argue over whether or not magic is real. After Weirdmageddon, Dipper told Raz all about it; Raz's theory was that there was an undocumented Psilirum deposit underneath Gravity Falls that made the town suffer mass hallucinations, and that Bill Cipher was the disembodied astral projection of a powerful psychic with delusions of Godhood.

Mabel Pines' latent powers began to emerge thanks to her contact with Gideon's amulet, combined with being trapped in Cipher's dream-bubble leaving a certain mark on her. Dipper first thought to call Cousin Raz about it after the cops came to their door to complain that someone had been telepathically broadcasting Sevral Timez music all over the neighbourhood. Mabel soon has to go to the Motherlobe when the implications of her psychic awakening come to light. Raz's fellow interns aren't too thrilled about another barely-a-teenager 'psychic curiosity' barging in (and by 'fellow interns' I mean Norma; Gisu and Sam are more like 'finally, I have found my people'). Dipper also gets to meet Raz's family - he and Dion instantly hate each other. Much friendliness and 'friendliness' all around. :V

They later find out that Stan hung around the Psychic Six and helped raise money for them, putting his conmanship to good use. He wasn't considered a proper member of the group, chiefly because his own psychic powers were pretty weak (he could throw a mean Confusion Grenade, though), he didn't live in Green Needle Gulch with the rest of them and had zero interest in participating in their various experiments. He also avoided Otto Mentallis as much as possible (reminded him too much of Ford P, what with his experiments that tend to blow up in his face), and don't even get him started on 'those two hippies that talk to plants'. By contrast, Cassie O'Pia basically became his therapist for a few months; she taught him all about Projection and how he's unwittingly become a master of it, with how many archetypes he has. Unfortunately he had to cut off all contact with them as part of the whole 'faking his death' thing.

Also, at some point, this dialogue happens:

Mabel Pines: "So yeah, an' he kinda worshipped Ford, I guess, but then the whole almost-apocalypse thing happened an' I guess he's looked back at that time an' he's realized ol' Fordy's made some kinda bad decisions an' he might be a doofus? Just a little? So yeah, that's my epic conclusion to my epic mental check-up!"

Hollis Forsythe: "...I'm sorry, you were talking too fast. Were you talking about Mason Pines or Razputin Aquato?"

i am intrigued about your malice towards miraculous ladybug ngl

miraculous ladybug is what happens when a group of frenchmen sit down and brainstorm ideas and concepts to piss me off specifically and then make it into a show

the comedy is cringeworthy ... the art is so processed to look cute and appealing it looks grotesque ... animation is stiff and floaty ... magical transformation costumes ugly ... putting teenage characters in super tight fitting spandex makes me uncomfortable, as does the cat boy's basic Charming Rogue stereotype personality for the same reason ... honestly I just find both the main characters and their romance uniquely hateable, they're both based on archetypes that make me want to kill

I generally feel a lot of immediate hatred for any children's show that features highly dramatized teen romance. it's completely unrelatable to me. it also feels like the narrative itself is trying to point out how attractive the characters are and I hate that. no, cartoon show for babies, little blondie isn't sexy, he looks 14. he looks like a hamster on stilts. he looks like he was made in the sevral timez factory. leave me alone

I'm sure it's more palatable for the target audience but also I hate the idea of teaching kids that romance is like this

I came to really dislike star vs the forces of evil for the same reason. no more drawn out romance drama for 14 year old characters, literally no one I knew at 14 who was that into romance was having a good time, they were all screwed up and needed therapy more than a boyfriend

anyway I could seethe incoherently about miraculous all day for a bunch of reasons but the point is that it's completely unwatchable to me and the fact that it has a fanbase at all fills me with confusion and rage

Unfortunately, gravityfallsnatural is highly impractical because Dean would absolutely despite the local media in Gravity Falls.

Everything from the music ("Did that guy just say he was going to eat his own pants? wtf? this is trash"/ "'Disco Girl'?? That terrible 70's song?? You've gotta be friggin kidding me"/ "Sevral Timez?? You know what, I'm just done") to the tv ("Attack of the Exclamation Points?? what does that even mean?!"/ "A duck-tective? Do I even wanna know?").

The only saving graces for him are: Shandra Jimenez being an attractive newscaster, making fun of the Ghost Harassers ("Hey Sam, next time we're hunting a ghost, let's try nothing but throwing a crucifix at it and seeing how long we last. What? Of ~course~ it's a good idea!") and the pie in Lazy Susan's diner.

yes dean would totally hate the gravity falls music. Knowing this, Jack and Mabel would totally blast Sevral Timez on Mabel's boombox just to annoy Dean.

I do think that Dean would like those stupid Halloween movies that gravity falls has on the local channels (the movies that Dipper and Wendy were watching in one ep in Wendy's room.) I think that Dean and Sam would like watching those movies for a change. Instead of scary, gory, violent Halloween movies, (like the stuff they see every day) they can watch and make fun of "Help! My mummies a wherewolf!" and "ghost turtle".

And dean would absolutely love the pie from Lazy Susan's diner, you're totally correct

Surprisingly, they seem to be of approximately equal length so far?? BSD currently has 37 eps and a movie. K consists of 2 seasons (13 + 13 eps), a movie and K 7 Stories (movies??), which are basically 6 long eps, each ep divided into 2 halves... I haven’t watched ep 13 of the 1st season of K, which means that I’ve watched 37 eps of BSD + movie, and also 37 eps of K + movie. This matches by the number of eps, but I don’t know about the time, I don’t remember the length of both movies. XD

Now I like to make charts and one that I’ve wanted to make for a while is the whole cartoon crossover multiverse thing. I’m just going to call it the Fallverse since the whole connection thing began with Gravity Falls and Rick and Morty.

Dotted line means they arent in the same universe but rather the same multiverse. Some shows have both a dotted and undotted line and that is because they are sort of both in the same verse and same multiverse.

For example Futurama is a comic book series in the Simpsons but also exists in the future of the Simpsons. Marco’s World seems to be the same world as Gravity Falls (Sevral Timez, same tourists) but Mewni obviously isn’t.
