Blorbie something I’ve noticed is that a lot of fics with Nico include lines in reference to him having “perfectly manicured nails” and just various remakes along those lines but as someone who has been a fan since like 2013 this definitely feels like a big misconception/assumption because in most of the close up photos I’ve seen of Nico’s hands his nails have in fact not been perfect or manicured at all and I’m almost certain I read once him saying he bites his nails. I tried to find it because I’m sure I’ve not made that up but I sadly couldn’t. So much of being a Nico fan is learning to ignore mischaracterisation because it’s just easier but him being a nail biter is 100% canon to me and his uncharacteristically untidy nails make total sense (and reminds me of a fic I vaguely remember reading years ago all about him having an oral fixation 🙃)

And yes, before you ask, I clearly do have too much time on my hands if this is what I’m busy thinking about…

haha hi anon. I'm gonna answer your question from the perspective of a fic writer. If I include the phrase "perfectly manicured nails" it doesn't mean I'm stating an objective fact like nico is blonde. rather im trying to convey something about the character. I don't think the writers have actually zoomed in on Nico's fingernail pictures to check.

so where does this perception of perfectly manicured nails come from? what does it signify? well, Nico's most documented and well known year is 2016, it's what he is most strongly associated with. And 2016 nico was highly neurotic, regimented, type A. He needed exactly 8 hours of sleep regardless of the timezone to beat jetlag, he had a really strict diet, exercise plans, etc. when an author goes out of their way to mention perfectly manicured nails, they're signifying that nico is someone meticulous, tidy, metrosexual, aware of his image and how the world sees him and cares about it.

it's important to remember this is fanon nico, fan interpretation of canon as is the case in rpf we can never truly Know the actual person, just their public persona. the biggest difference in fanon and canon nico for me was the video where nico was on a yacht with his friends and he found out his dad's team won the DTM championshipship. so he just books a flight on his phone, doesn't even pack a suitcase or get off the yacht, asks his camera guy if he can travel and then he heads straight to the airport. in his yachting shorts! and shows up to his dad's party. this goes against the perfectly polished idea of fanon nico, who is always scheming and prepared and would've had this flight and his suitcase packed in preparation, while irl nico is rich boy idgaf. even vivian comments "he always does this" at nico randomly booking a flight In The Middle Of Their Yacht Trip 😭

anyways I hope this explains why the fics "mischaracterise" him, in order to write him in a certain way that's more interesting to the writer -- and you are free to disagree with it. I myself don't agree w/ a lot of popular nico tropes (the jilted ex to sewis for example), but that's why I read the fics I enjoy or write my own

okay, how about, sewis+lying? 👀

ok so you accidentally sent this twice n i was going to delete but it inspired me to actually start writing my bodyswap au so here you go. hope you like it !!

Sebastian stretches, groaning a little as something in his back catches and pulls. He knew Lewis was lying when he said he was fine.

The phone on the bedside table beside him starts buzzing. Sebastian picks it up, flopping back onto the bed as he answers.

“Why don’t you have any of the conditioner I sent you in your shower?”

Sebastian throws an arm over his eyes, blocking out the sun. Lewis always sleeps with his curtains open. To motivate him out of bed or something, wake up with the sun and all that. The lengths Lewis will go to to pretend he’s a morning person when he, most definitely, is not one will never not be funny to Sebastian.

Lewis’s voice is thick with sleep as Sebastian tries to explain that he left it at home. Morning person like fuck, Seb thinks and grins.

“Seb,” Lewis says and even after all these years, it’s a little weird to hear Lewis saying his name in that way that he does, like he’s trying to say something else, in Sebastian’s voice. “You’re supposed to bring it with you. You know, when you’re packing up the rest of your stuff?”

Sebastian sighs, pulling the duvet up over his shoulders. Lewis’s body always gets colder easier than his own. “I forgot.”

Lewis hums, unimpressed, the sound of water turning on faint in the background.

“I thought you said your back didn’t hurt.”

It’s Lewis’s turn to sigh. “I said I was fine, not that it didn’t hurt.”

Sebastian rolls his eyes even though Lewis can’t see him. He puts the phone on speaker, placing it on the pillow beside his head, hands going back under the covers. He’s careful to keep them above his waist, tangled in the sheets.

Jenson had taken Sebastian out for drinks last night. Seb hadn’t meant to fall asleep to thoughts of Lewis, of wanting him on his mind, but apparently, he had. Not the first time this has happened, Seb thinks, and probably not the last either. At least, they’re used to this.

(It is one of the few things that they never talk about, fifteen years and counting.)

“Do you have anything to do today?” Seb asks, eyes half closed. Lewis laughs in his ear, low and soft, for a second before cursing.

“Seb. Seb. Sebastian, get the fuck up. Don’t you dare ruin my sleep pattern.”

Sebastian groans, rolling over to bury his face into Lewis’s lovely silk pillows.

F1 Fic Recs '22 pt.II

Hi everyone!

Five months have past since my last fic rec drop and it was damn time I made another one 'cause some great stuff has been posted so here you have the 10 best fics I've read in a while!

(Most of them are M or R rated so watch out for that :)

-A Thousand Shades of You by Tianvette (SEWIS AU)

I'm totally obsessed with soulmates AU and this one in particular is beautifully built up, because Lewis and Seb meet in the middle of the mountains and even though you think everything will be predictable... It's not! The story keeps you intrigued till the very last word and it's totally fluffy and sexy and worth of everybody's time.

-Enter at your own risk by formulacherry (or the f1 drivers' sex party)

okay idk how to start describing this fic... I was surprised I haven't recommended it before since it's one of the most well writen orgies in the f1 fandom. It's writen from different perspectives so that you don't miss a single second of what's going on around the place, and the thing I like the most about this one is that it's not just sex between drivers. Some of them have feelings for each other, some of them are just friends, some of them are fuckbuddies and some of them just decided to f* and that's it! My huge respects and admiration to this writer :')

-Learning a new language (Series) by kiwialicat (Piarles+ Arthur)

Okay I must advert you that this is not for everyone's piece of cake, it includes some very explicit sex between brothers. But if you don't mind ... This is a jewel you must read. The story is well developed, the smut is both romantic, shameless and not excessive and whats most important, it feels natural. It's something that (for being what it is, the developing of a three way relationship) doesn't weird you out, not even for a moment.

-This Is New by blackest_eyes (Piarles)

Or my favourite Piarles fic so far this year. It's sensual, but overall it's sooo sweet. Pure fluff and comfort between two people who even when they're just friends they love each other so bad you can feel it as you read the story. If you want butterflies in your stomach go the hell off to read this.

-Does dirty talk work? by Tetralea (Lestappen)

Or how Max tricks Charles into speaking filthy for him but ends up well... even filthier. As someone who adores to read Charles topping during sex this was delightful to read, it was also funny and the dynamic between them is just perfect.

-All You Gotta Do Is Trust Me by wafflesandpancakes (Michael/Daniel)

Or the fic that made me fall in love with this pairing! It has all the ingredients honestly... shyness, pride, virginal thoughts, dirty thoughts, Daniel being a sweetheart and Michael being the boyfriend we all wish we had. Simply lovely.

-McLaren Sandwich Shorts by BearWithAHat

Or a compilation of Carlos, Lando and Charles being the sweetest and most perfect Ot3. It's fluffy, but also tries out every outcome and posibility for the not-at-all easy life of three drivers from different teams dating each other. An underrated pairing and an underrated work.

-Em's Omegaverse adventures (Series) by CustardCreamies (Lanseb)

Or Lando and Seb being pack mates and the most adorable squishy pairing in the omegaverse my friend Em created. This is pure sweetness, and the perfect series of drabbles to read when you're feeling down.

-Welcome in the family!  by 12romy (Kimi/Antonio/Minttu)

ahhjhfjfg this is basically Antonio living the nanny's dream when he gets the job of daycare in the Raikkonen's house and both parents of the kids fall for him and try to get to him in the corniest ways possible. If you don't like the pairing then you can still read it for the vibes because the dynamic in the house and the interactions have no waste.

I'm kinda glad they broke my heart ('cause now it's yours) by TheWiseOne12 (Sewis/Charlando)

Or a Cottage fic AU where a pregnant Lando runs from his past to a small town far away and ends up renting in the sewis property. Soon, he meets Charles who used to rent there as well and even though Lando holds a lot of secrets Charles Seb and Lewis slowly make their way to Lando's heart and it's so beautiful it makes you cry ugh. Go read it. Now. And the other stuff this writer has posted because it's as wonderful as this.

I loved your fantasy piarles and it’s probably my favorite fantasy au ever! The whole universe and magic was so cool and such big brained energy! I have to ask is there any more background or snippets you could give of the other characters? I’m so intrigued about Maxiel (Max was probably my favorite side character and loved the way you described him) and Carlando (Did they end up together forever and what is their life like?!?). LEWIS I have so many questions about and Seb and his sad farm!!!!!! (Is there Sewis?!). Now that I’m thinking about it Kimi and his pack!!! GEORGE AND ALEX (rich billionaire immortal boys just trying to live normal everyday lives) Ahhhhhhh I’ve read it three times already and I just keep thinking about it over and over.

Let me tell you some things about this world because I built such a little world in my head as I was writing this fic.

Max was the first character that I conceptualized for this fic. I was writing this fic at the same time I was writing the Carlando piece of Blue Neighbourhood and I didn't know if I was going to write this as a Piarles story or a Carlando story. (It was meant to be a Piarles story though.) I knew who Max was going to be.

Obviously in this world, all immortal creatures are born and Max's father (who is powerful, but not as powerful as he'd like to be) had children with a very powerful witch essentially to...get the strongest children. Evil, vile man. Much like Jos IRL. Anyway, Max is raised in isolation with his father chasing some kind of something, he's never really sure, but he knows it's like A Big Deal.

He meets Charles at one of the only summits he's allowed to go to and they become friends and it's the first peak at a real life and then he somehow convinces his father to let him go away to study and that's how he meets Daniel. Charles absolutely encourages that and they fall in love.

Jos finds out about it and freaks out and starts to hunt them with some of his shady people and they bond with the help of Max's mom (who he hasn't seen in a long time).

When Jos discovers them, he is beside himself and that's when he goes after Max's sister, but the bonding really took it out of Daniel and Max so they can't go after him, so Charles does. And that's where the life debt comes from with Max.

Daniel really just spends the next hundred years showing Max the world before they buy a place in New York.

Now, Carlando.

They do end up together. Something that I didn't mention in the epilogue that is just pure HC is that Charles and Pierre and Co. work out the ritual to not just make vampires, but also werewolves. (And they make it happen without nearly ending in death all around.) ((And this is also what Jos was chasing - The Big Thing.))

I mentioned Carlos was studying native animals when he met Lando and Carlos would really rather be a werewolf. He's 35 when Lando turns him and then Lando takes him to see every single mountain range in the world and listens to his endless lectures.

Lando and Carlos eventually settle down outside of Serra de Tramuntana in Spain because the entire island is actually wolves - which they discover while they're visiting.

It turns into kind of a preternatural getaway resort type of town within the century and Lando finds the family he's been looking since his birth packs death.

Lewis and Seb and Kimi:

"They're the old generation". In that, they're all much older than the others and they were the ones who "broke tradition" and kind of paved the way for the younger crowd to have the lives they do.

In my brain: Seb and Lewis come and go out of each others lives because Lewis likes to travel in his plane and rubs elbows and do what he wants and Seb is happy to have his farm and give a place to preternatural creatures who need a place to recover. They're happy. It works for them.

Kimi continues to run Seattle with his rogue pack and he loves being out of the preternatural world - but he's always begging the kids to stop dragging trouble into his land.

George and Alex:

They really just want to live their lives. George is a doctor and he loves being a doctor and Alex runs through all kinds of occupations - he owns a diner, he's a teacher for a little while - at a human school.

But then you know, Charles and Pierre take in the witchling child (but then there's a werewolf cub and they even foster a selkie for a little bit while Seb finds a family of selkies to take them in, but they end up with two witchlings, a werewolf, and a vampire for keeps) and when it's time to send her off to do some formal education, they're shocked to find that...the school that Max and Charles attended together has...It's not good.

Charles calls Alex and is all, "We can't send her there, think of all the children that are being deprived of vital schooling, it's so sad Alex, won't you think of the children. Anyway, Lewis already bought us some land in the wilderness of Canada and we have all of the permits and approval from the council already, so..."

And thats how George and Alex end up as Headmaster's of The Hamilton School for Preternatural Creatures. (There might be half a fic floating around in my brain about that, but don't push it. Ok. I can't take that on right now. *crosses fingers behind my back*)

They were waiting in the rain by the track, Lewis was shivering in his raincoat, tossed haphazardly over his racesuit.

“Do you want to play cards?”

He turned his head to see another kid looking up at him, everyone else was away with their parents; Lewis would be too if his dad hadn’t said to get out and have a look at the track. He hadn’t driven here before.

“Sure.”

He found out the kids name was Sebastian, or just Seb, since they were friends now. It was actually fun after a while, and his dad brought them hot chocolates, steam rising up into their faces and warming their hands.

The race was cancelled in the end, and Lewis felt almost sad to be leaving; he hadn’t really made a friend at one of these things before, besides Nico. It quickly dissipated though when Seb came running up to him while they were packing up to squeeze him into a hug.

“See you at the next one!”

Ooeeh that's an interesting one👀 here goes nothing:

Lewis takes one look at twink Omega Seb and is in LOVE

Seb is not so easily tied down, and for years on end he just kinda fucks around with most Alphas and ignores Lewis a bit

Eventually, Seb matures as does Lewis, and they get closer

Seb figures out Lewis is perfect for cuddles and takes to just snuggling up to him

Lewis shows Seb all his social media during these cuddle sessions and let's Seb pick what pictures to put on instagram

Seb even starts wearing Lewis very colourful sweaters even though it isn't his style

The first time Lewis helps Seb through his Heat, Seb is just in awe of how sweet Lewis is

They take things really slow and only get marks when 1 or both retire

But once they have the Mark, everything goes quick after

Alright! Last race! WDC decider! Finally!

Quali report : Webber fucked up and is 5th. Jenson is not a contender for the title but he's 4th. Lewis has very little chance to win the WDC because he's 24 points behind, but he's 2nd. He says "the others are the ones who have to worry, I don't have to be cautious whatsoever tomorrow", which is not a good thing to say. Alonso is suddenly a Lewis fan, he's 3rd on the grid and is happy to have Lewis in front of him. He hopes he has a good start, overtakes Seb who's on pole and win the race, so Seb doesn't win the WDC.

I'll spare you all the boring melodramatic segments about the WDC contenders and shit.

Formation lap

And they're racing!

Good start for everybody, Jenson overtook Alonso! OH SHIT. THE MERCEDES MADE CONTACT, SCHUMACHER IS STRANDED FACING THE WRONG WAY AND A CAR CRASHES INTO HIM, ITS LIUZZI, HIS CAR IS ON TOP OF SCHUMACHER'S. We can see him moving so he's okay but again. No halo era is horrifying. Safety Car, of course. Both drivers are out of the cars, they shake hands. Lewis asks the team to check his front wing for potential contact with Seb in the first corner but on the replay it seems they didn't touch. Of course Lewis can't see properly from inside the cockpit, which is why he’s asking.

Everybody is trying to manage tyre and brake temperature and pressure and shit. Seb slows down too much in the lead to the point Lewis almost overtook him without trying. Brundle says it wasn’t Lewis' fault, Seb isn't allowed to do that.

And the race is back on! Seb makes a lightning fast restart. 10 laps in Lewis is only 1 second behind Seb but the tyres are already suffering. Webber comes in early, but he ends up behind a lot of drivers that have already made their stop, he's in trouble.

Not much happening 20 laps in. Lewis is 2 seconds behind Vettel now which isn't great but kinda surprising given how fast the Redbulls are. Alonso cannot for the life of him overtake Petrov and he's stuck way down the pack in 11th. Lewis pits on lap 24. He's out behind Kubica and he will need to overtake him immediately to have a chance to get in front of Seb when he pits. In the meantime Redbull is asking Seb to give it his all this lap. He's about to pit. And he does. He's out in second place ahead of Kobayashi, Kubica and thus Lewis. Shame. Kubica is attacking Kobayashi who defends fiercely while Lewis sets the fastest sector time. These 4 are just a few metres apart on the track. Kubica overtakes Kobayashi, Lewis is coming for him too. Come on he needs to clear them both! Lewis asks how he ended up in front after the pitstop. Well his pitstop was just much quicker. We all know Redbull pitstops, you gotta give them that.

To win the WDC Seb needs to win the race. Alonso needs to be fourth or better.

Lewis overtook Kobayashi. Jenson might end up 2nd, he's in the lead atm but hasn't stopped yet. He's quick though. To the point Seb has to react to his times to not let him create too much of a gap before his pitstop. Lewis is gaining on Kubica. But then he slows down a bit. McLaren tells him to keep trying, they had to try something with the strategy and he'll get his chance. He goes in the inside of Kubica but Kubica closes the door. Lewis says his front tyres are bad but his engineer tells him they cannot afford to stop again unless they have too. There are over 20 laps left, it's not good. He's just .3 behind Kubica and the fastest man on track now, come on. He's supposed to have learned not to give up so easily from 2009. Ron Dennis is there too, whispering things to the engineers. He ran wide again. Lewis, focus please.

15 laps to go. Kubica and Jenson will have to pit soon now. Lewis is right there, come on. There you go, Button is in the pits. He's fourth, behind Lewis. Seb is back in the lead. Lewis is getting frustrated af. Alonso still hasn't been able to clear Petrov either and that's just how he might lose the title. Seb tells his team he has issues with the radio and to make sure all the info is on the pit board. 10 laps to go.

And Glock DNF, he's stopped on the side of the road. Kubica is finally pitting. He's ahead of Alonso. Lewis is now P2, Jenson P3.

And it's the end of the race!

Seb becomes the youngest WDC in history! Double podium for McLaren who secured second place in the WCC. Seb is literally sobbing like a little boy on the radio, this is extremely wholesome. Alonso is sitting with his team, very serious of course.

Lewis smiles wide as he hugs Seb in the cool down room. Jenson also hugs him.

Seb starts crying the second he sets foot on the podium. He's literally ugly crying by the end of his anthem. It's lovely.

Lewis' mom is there as well as Nicole. They are very happy. The champagne, which isn't champagne of course, isn't spraying but it doesn't even matter.

Three world champions on a podium is something.

They interview Alonso for a long time and I don't care enough to listen.

Press conference. Seb starts by saying he's speechless, it's been a tough season especially mentally. He's soaked in sweat and fake champagne. He hadn't led the WDC until he won it.

Lewis is asked whether being held up in traffic after pitting was avoidable. He says he has no idea, they'll have to take a look later on but he's sure the team did everything they did for the right reasons and they needed to try and jump Seb but it was unfortunate they came out behind a Renault. He says it hasn't been the most spectacular season for McLaren but huge congrats to Redbull and Seb, he really did a fantastic job throughout the year, and that’s how Seb is looking at him as he speaks :

He sounds like he has a stuffy nose lol. He thinks it's a good result for him and Jenson though, they pushed very hard throughout the year and a big thank you to all the guys back home and at the factory for not giving up. Next year will be a better year (damn I hope so though this one wasn't so bad, it wasn’t great).. Jenson also sounds a bit stuffy lol. What's happening there?

Now we have Redbull partying and an interview with Webber but this isn't the point of this rewatch. We're done with 2010, I'm out. See you for 2011!

Dystopian/Flirting under fire.

River, omg. I have like...a block in my brain about writing dystopian anything so like...congratulations for making my brain screech to a halt.

"You want to come back to mine after this?" Lewis asks, voice pitched up in that amused lilt that Seb thinks he does specifically to get under his skin.

Seb glares at him from across the room and then he hears the first shot. Great.

"Don't look at me like that," Lewis hisses. "It was your idea to bring the tank. Of course they found us."

Seb tries to look unimpressed, but it's hard when they're stuffing as much food as they can into their packs.

Stupid. Stupid of them to come out today when it wasn't a necessity.

Another shot. Closer this time.

"Hurry -" Seb starts to tell him to hurry up, but Lewis interrupts him.

"You didn't answer me, man. Rude to leave me hanging here." Lewis grins at him while he zips his pack closed.

Seb hands his pack over to Lewis and pulls his own gun from the holster where it lives. "You're doing that thing again? Where you pretend to pick me up?"

Lewis swings both of their packs up and onto his shoulders. "It's the apocalypse, baby. Gotta get our joy in where we can."

Seb can hear shouting. "We gotta go."

Lewis whispers, "Back to mine though? You -"

Seb leans in and kisses him. "Yes, yes, back to yours." He's hissing. "Now, get your gun out, Christ."

"Whoa oh ho." Lewis teases, "We're in a public area, at least wait until we get home to -"

Seb kisses him again and Lewis stops laughing.

"Yeah, okay." Lewis gets his gun out. "Let's get home to the kiddies."

"I told you to stop calling them that, Lew. They're all adults."

Lewis' face has slid into that calm mask he wears when they're in immediate danger. "Let's get home to the kiddies."

Seb doesn't fight him this time. They have to get home to the kids.

i'm bringing back the kindergarten au to introduce: arthur leclerc, disaster child who arrives once he finishes uni because “i'm an independent boy and i can come see you if i want” to which charles responds with a “they kicked you out didn't they?” and anyways the point is that he really did miss charles nevermind how he actually came to find him and he's really the only one who has been sending little presents for addie on her birthday.

and maybe they haven't really talked that much because when addie was born arthur just took the neutral stance on the will charles be a good dad argument because “who cares about the child i have a funeral to plan because the only person who actually made family gatherings bearable is dead so fuck you all” idk idk him and charlotte were friends way before charles and charlotte even started flirting. so charles isn't super happy seeing him but he still let's him crash because he loves arthur and not so deep down he's missed him too.

but anyways to the point! mick comes to pick charles and addie for a dinner at seb's with lando and lance and seb's partner (i'm saying lewis because sewis rights but feel free to change it) and arthur actually is the one who opens the door and it's just a blinking fest because “who the fuck are you”. they arrive at the dinner almost 30 minutes late which is how long it takes charles to explain everything to mick and arthur decides he's going to this dinner and no one can stop him (and truly, they can't).

am i ever going to actually get to the point? probably not, this is really long, i'm sorry. BUT fast-forward a few weeks and arthur is STILL living with charles and addie adores him, how could she not when he lowkey acts like a kid half the time and helps her pull little pranks on charles and teases him about mick an awful lot and also teases lando about lance whenever poor lando decides to visit them.

and that becomes his main purpose in life: teasing and annoying everyone and making up for it by being a surprisingly great babysitter and cook and making them all little treats and taking care of the kids and the animals whenever anyone needs him to.

Arthur being really nervous about finding Charles again because although he has been in touch with him and sends things for Addie....Charles has kept him at arms length cause maybe they had a fight before Charles left. A grief ridden Arthur being like 'if you hadn't dated her, she'd still be here', because Charlotte was his best friend. The one he spoke to about everything and he was upset when Charles asked him it he'd be okay with him asking out Charlotte but Charles made her happ so he supported it

And then Charlotte was gone. Charles was devastated, and everyone was telling him he'd be a shitty dad and Arthur was grieving and mad at Charles a little so he stays silent. Watches them leave.

Maybe he stands up for them one day. Someone is talking about how Charles is probably a horrible father since he left and Arthur stands up for Charles cause he had tonnes of pictures from Charles of Addie growing up and they're happy. And the family toss him out for it.

So Arthur packs up and hopes Charles can forgive him and although Charles isn't exactly happy to see him at first, his brother tried to make it up to him and apologise and he's always been there for Addie so he let's him stay.

Sure he's annoying and he gives Addie too much sugar at first, but he loves her so much and he loves Charles. It's clear when he hug Charles tight after they get back from that diner that Arthur is just so happy to be there and see Charles.

It takes them time to heal but Arthur makes Charles and Addie laugh. He gets a job at a little bakery and teaches Addie to bake and one day he just walks up beside Charles and says, 'She looks so much like her.....and She would be so proud of you for being such a great dad'

And it just breaks that last barrier between them and maybe Addie doesn't know why her daddy and uncle are crying but uncle Arthur is staying and daddy is happier so she just hugs them tight cause her family keeps growing and she loves it
