Now I'm imagining a modern day AU Elizabeth writing a callout post about Darcy.
I don't think Elizabeth would write the callout post, but she 100% believes it!
(Modern day AU Darcy thinks she's reblogging it ironically.)

Klaus Wulfenbach, for the character bingo
ramble says i'm supposed to be highlighting the bingo card, which counterintuitively hems in my rambling so hm here goes ig
Tumblr media
lotta squares, no bingo!
you will notice i think 1) klaus' design is bitchin' but also 2) Why Does He Look Like That. mostly why is he so ludicrously buff but i do have other questions.
obviously he is 3) kind of a nightmare in many ways, and 4) rationally should be feared.
he has hella 5) wasted potential but not as a character, rather in-universe, because i'm damn sure he 6) does work best and is happiest as part of a unit, but the universe has persistently conspired to isolate him.
obviously he has done so many things wrong, but 7) no he hasn't and 8) i want to stick him in a bag and coo and poke him with a stick except that's unethical. so clearly 9) i'm not normal about this man and 10) he is a blorbo of mine.
my favorite thing about him is that he's The Overlord, but there's an entire genre of fiction popular throughout his domain that persists in depicting him as his dead best friends' hapless idiot sidekick, and he thinks this is funny and has made 0 effort to curb it
why have both my asks on this meme been weird old war criminal dads. do i seem to have a type.

J and X
J: The One Piece of CC You Couldn’t Play Without
The singular piece I couldn't play without? Hm... I'm very fond of ACR for all the drama it brings to my little neighbourhoods.
X: Do you use the Lifetime or Career Rewards?
I used to not really use them but lately, I've tried to incorporate them into my builds more and use them as gameplay. Favourite Lifetime reward right now? The eternal life kibble bowl! I want my dogs to live forever, dammit.
Thanks.

7. How often do you use references?
As often as possible! I sometimes even have to take pictures of myself to get a pose down or risk spending hours trawling the web for ✨the perfect reference✨
10. Are you confident about your art?
Not in the slightest 😅
18. What are you currently trying to improve on?
Human proportions and a way to render pieces when I don't want to use the inkwash/watercolour style that I am very comfy with.
Those of you who have either followed me for the past year or have seen my older drawings have seen me bumbling through attempting different ways of rendering like cell shading or trying to actually paint.
I've slowly been trying to improve on human proportions by doing studies and figure drawings since I've always wanted to try drawing comics and I've become quite attached to drawing my Hollow Knight humans even though I never share them despite saying several times that I want to share them more
Tumblr media
(small example of me trying to do something to improve proportions and posing with a reference. I'm already seeing more mistakes but hey, that's the learning process😅)

Fanfiction trope: Crossovers
Give me a fanfiction trope and I’ll grade it: A: Love it. Spend my time combing AO3 for it.
Crossovers my beloved. Fusions where you put one cast in another universe/plot are a fantastic thought exercise. For characters meeting who really shouldn't I have, uh, an entire tag for unexpected but delightful combos in my bookmarks.
And then I guess there's "reincarnated as" crossovers, which I only rarely actually find interesting. Love the theory though.

For the ship ask game, Elizabeth/Darcy
Sadly, the long post that got eaten was my original response to this. It had a lot in it, but I'll do my best to remember it.
So! Elizabeth/Darcy is the queen of ships, the terror of the seas, the—yeah, I ship it.
1- What made you ship it?
I don't remember! I was only eleven. I think I considered Mary/Darcy briefly for some reason, but (properly) discarded it. I do remember that I really wanted Elizabeth/Darcy to happen from quite early (I thought Wickham was obviously lying), and partly because of that and partly because of missing things on my first read, I was genuinely surprised that Elizabeth refused him! I thought she'd accept because of her family's situation etc, and then they'd have to deal with their conflicts in marriage.
(This isn't an unusual fic plot, and I myself wrote a fic that was meant to lead to Elizabeth and Darcy having to deal with their issues as a married couple—though I never got to the marriage part—so maybe not quite as batshit as it seems in retrospect, lol.)
2- What are your favorite things about this ship?
There's a lot that I love, obviously. I love the youthful energy of their dynamic, even when it leads to mistakes. They really feel like peers. I love the sense of balance between them. It doesn't rely on everything about their thoughts, feelings, and actions being individually equivalent or even always similar, yet these individual things add up to put them on a par intellectually and morally in a way that is actually pretty unusual for Austen.
I love that they're both clever and truly ethical with a bit of an edge that makes both of them impressive, and both of them very compelling characters in general and together. Yet when they fall in love with each other, they're both rather silly about it.
Despite being borderline ace (and lesbian!) myself, I also enjoy the sexual charge between them. I think that, despite the restraint of Austen's style, it's pretty glaring, especially in the last third or so of the book.
Oh, and I love something that I don't always with other ships. They end up with pretty much everything they could conceivably want out of life, we're assured of their eternal gratitude for their marriage (this is the final line, in fact), they get ... it all. It's not all that common for me to encounter a ship treated so generously by its author, without it feeling forced or saccharine.
But it doesn't feel that way at all (for me). I think there's a reason that it's such a juggernaut in the fandom and people are often so ??? about alternate pairings. You can feel the favor of the narrative itself for them, the way it's so fundamental to the fabric of the narrative that nearly everything in it serves to further the Elizabeth/Darcy plot in some way, yet in a way that makes the novel feel rich and engaging rather than shallow. And at the same time, they have it all! They're smart and hot and good and in love and happy and will never have to worry about money or anything worse than minor inconveniences from extended family, they're going to continue to grow as people, they're—it's so nice and so satisfying in a way that's actually really hard to execute well and it's done so well here.
3- Is there an unpopular opinion you have on this ship?
Many, lol. Despite their immense popularity, I think in some ways that the ship is kind of a victim of it, because there are these inescapable pop culture osmosis ideas of them that just strike me as either reductive or simply wrong. I don't think Darcy is a brooding sexy alpha male romance hero or that Elizabeth is a feisty individualist woman ahead of her time.
I think they're both very much of their time, actually! Darcy is not old-fashioned for the time and Elizabeth is not ahistorically unique. In fact, I would like to see depictions leaning into them as products of their time rather than away (I know of a few, but it's not common in the way I'm thinking, esp given my preference for the 1790s setting).

13 and 15
O.O that was so fast! as i am typing this i reblogged that ask meme 3 minutes ago. wow.
13. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I think a bit? Mostly it's forgettable since I hear from so many lovely people, but I got in the stupidest argument on my Jason Todd longfic with someone taking issue with my author's note mentioning (re: why it was important to the story that Jason had been disarmed by hospital staff as a condition of being in the hospital) studies showing that the presence of guns in a space increases the chances of violence subliminally, even if the guns don't actually get used.
And how ofc having a gun increases the odds of lethality if violence does occur.
I don't mind having the first one challenged because it's just an interesting factoid, but the second is just. That's common sense. This isn't even a thing I feel like it makes sense to question. If having a gun doesn't make it easier to kill what are guns even for? And obviously the easier it is to do something the more likely you are to do it impulsively.
You know how hard it is to stab someone to death in the face in a single moment of rage? Even if you get all the way through the stabbing motion before thinking better of it, the other party has reasonable odds of ducking or deflecting. And even if you hit, it's likely all you've done is given them an unsightly facial scar, especially in these modern days of fantastic wound treatment and medical hygiene.
Whereas if you want your brother dead for two seconds straight while carrying a handgun, that's more than long enough to thoroughly perforate his skull. And very few people in this world have any chance at all of dodging a bullet even if they know it's coming.
I'm very done with the anti-gun-control argument that if people really want to do violence they'll find a way with or without guns, like. Yeah. But what about the thousands of people who are living with having committed murder and manslaughter because it didn't take that much effort so they could go through with it before thinking better of it? Toddlers kill multiple people in the US weekly.
Ahem. Right. So that was a memorable time!
15. Are there words, phrases, mannerisms or scenes you tend to use a lot?
Of course there are, but you know I'm sure whatever I overuse the most I'm totally blind to lmao.
I have a particular self-soothing fidget where I massage the middle of one palm with the opposite thumb, that I don't think I've ever seen described in fiction? But I've given it to a few characters because it's what feels natural to me in a specific headspace, so that's probably distinctive. Very specific hand-wringing.
And of course, this I know, I write. Just. So much putting two people in a space and making them talk until they get to the heart of an issue between them. At least I'm apparently good at it or people would have told me to stop by now. 😂

6. Episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you? [Every TV show I watched this year suddenly flees from my brain.] Um. The Psych bigfoot-documentary-found footage episode was pretty fun. Idk. Nothing I watched this year really stood out to me tbh.
19. What’re you excited about for next year? I'm not sure. I'm very excited to go home in early January and get some goddamn rest but that's just the usual end-of-semester exhaustion, not something specific to the year. I'm graduating college, but that's more terrifying that exciting. I guess... my senior exhibition? Whatever that will even look like. And being back in the US in general will be nice. Having all the comforts of home again instead of this shitty student housing.
23. If you could send a message to yourself back on the first day of the year, what would it be? Apply to that thing earlier dumbass and don't waste your time waffling about whether or not to do it, just commit, it'll be manageable and totally worth it. Also you're Gonna wanna get your accommodations paperwork redone by ur PCP in May because the college fucking lost whatever it was they last had on file for you <3

I suggested that Gareth's biromantic demisexual, and apparently I have more thoughts on that. I think Gareth would be in the closet and in denial about it, because of internalized homophobia and acephobia. Being attracted to men isn't "manly" and neither is being uninterested in sex. The first person he talks to about it is Sid, who he trusts but doesn't feel a need to impress. Sid is like, "That's fine. I like men, too." I'm not sure where it goes from there, but it's good for Gareth.
I’m low on spoons because my sister and her four kids came today. And while I love her I’m overstimulated.  But I agree 100% it seems Gareth is a common character to think about queer headcannon wise because of how much he needs to be a man.  Like that one post that I can not find and drives me nuts because I can’t find it with him being headcannon as trans an his I have to be manly as possible is because he feels he has to prove he’s a man.  and with the internalized homophobia defintly,  I think he could use a queer male friend who he can talk about this stuff with.
