some fun Seychelles facts for your Seychellois needs:
Seychelles is the smallest country in Africa and the least populated
Seychelles, along with Mauritius, is usually one of the two top African countries in terms of GDP and standards of living
only a handful of countries have embassies in Seychelles: China, Cuba, Cyprus, France, India, Libya, Mauritius, Russia, UAE, and the UK
as far as international friends go, the Seychellois consider Mauritius their favorite country, but is also good friends with Cyprus and India. they have good relations with the UK, France, and China but I'm less certain of the friendliness there.
Seychelles is considered on the left-leaning side of the Non-Aligned Movement; ie, wants fewer superpowers to have permanent presence in the Indian Ocean. so they strongly protest the US presence on Diego Marcia, for example, but are happy to act as a rest stop for US Navy during their travels.
Seychelles is a key partner in anti-piracy efforts in the Somali Sea and greater Indian Ocean, where they work closely with India's Navy
Seychelles has some incredible wildlife, including the Seychelles giant tortoise and the Aldabra giant tortoise, and the Seychelles black parrot
in fact, Seychelles is home to several of the world's oldest tortoise, including Jonathan (191yro) and Esmeralda (179yro)
Seychellois culture is matriarchal re: family structure, and commonly households are multigenerational
90% of the population lives on the island of Mahé, with the rest on Praslin and La Digue. of a total of 115 islands, only 8 are permanently inhabited; the rest are largely national parks

We wanted to figure out what breed Zouzou (left) and Kilgore (right) our cats might be. You've probably seen that massive chart floating around for identifying cat breeds.
Because they're from the street and clearly don't have any specific pedigree, it means they're going to be a mix of something. However we did narrow down a few things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since they are "black and white" that means they're black cats first. Which is confirmed by some of their paw pads and Kilgore's nose. They're also probably part tabby because of the hazel eyes, and because their tails are faintly tabby striped when you see them in bright light. Zouzou's striping is more pronounced.
So if they're black and white cats, that means they're bicolor:
Tumblr media
They have mixed black and pink pads and toe beans, and Zouzou has a fully pink nose. They're definitely somewhere on the right half of the chart:
Tumblr media
Zouzou is somewhere between Van or Magpie (bottom left, bottom middle) and Seychellois Huitième (middle left). She does have splotches on her legs, and her head/ear patterns aren't quite Van:

Kilgore seems to be some variation of Seychellois Huitième but he has no color splashes on his face. He does have a couple splashes on his legs and paws, like the "wedding ring" someone pointed out once on his left ring finger (no, we don't know the spouse. presumably estranged):

So yeah, that's our cats. They're basically black cats with a really big white spot. Or just black and white :)

I had to separate the legend from the map because it would not have been legible otherwise. I am aware that the color distinctions are not always very clear, but there are only so many colors in the palette.
The legend is arranged in alphabetical order and languages are grouped by family (bullet points), with branches represented by numbers and followed by the color palette languages within them are colored in, as follows:
Afroasiatic
Chadic (Hausa) — ocher
Cushitic (Oromo and Somali) — light yellow-green
Semitic (from Arabic to Tigrinya) — yellow
Albanian — olive green
Armenian — mauve
Atlantic-Congo
Benue-Congo (from Chewa to Zulu) — blue-green
Senegambian (Fula and Wolof) — faded blue-green
Volta-Congo (Ewe and Mooré) — bright blue-green
Austroasiatic (Khmer and Vietnamese) — dark blue-purple
Austronesian
Eastern Malayo-Polynesian (from Fijian to Wallisian) — dark brown
Malayo-Polynesian (Palauan) — bright brown
Western Malayo-Polynesian (from Malagasy to Tagalog) — light brown
Eastern Sudanic (Dinka) — foral white
Hellenic (Greek) — black
Indo-European
Germanic (from Danish to Swedish) — light blue (creoles in medium/dark blue)
English-based creoles (from Antiguan and Barbudan to Vincentian Creole)
Indo-Aryan (from Bengali to Sinhala) — purple
Iranian (Persian) — gray
Romance (from Catalan to Spanish) — red (creoles in dark red)
French-based creoles (from Haitian Creole to Seychellois Creole)
Portuguese-based creoles (from Cape Verdean Creole to Papiamento)
Slavic — light green (from Bulgarian to Ukrainian)
Inuit (Greenlandic) — white

Sino-Tibetan (Burmese, Chinese*, and Dzongkha) — pink
Turkic (from Azerbaijani to Uzbek) — dark green

* Chinese refers to Cantonese and Mandarin. Hindi and Urdu are grouped under Hindustani, and Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, and Serbian are grouped under Serbo-Croatian.
