🌟Bathtime🌟

Summary: a 2nd person pov fic about a little who had a hard day and their caregiver who gives them a bath. Regressor is written as nonverbal.

Names used for caregiver: caregiver, carer, gender neutral pronouns

Names used for little: little one, pumpkin, sweet pea, bug, munchkin, gender neutral pronouns

Gear: blankie, stuffie (gender neutral pronouns), bubble bath, bath toys

Today had been hard. You were currently swaddled in your favorite blankie and holding your stuffie close. Your caregiver was crouched next to you rubbing soothing circles on your back and occasionally petting your hair.

“Do you want me to give you a bath?” they asked.

You weren’t sure. Something in you still felt bad, you didn’t want to leave the comfort of where you were right now.

They continued petting your hair, “We can put in bubbles, and you can play with your toys! It will be better than sitting here in the dark. Afterwards we can get you in some soft clean clothes and cuddle before bed. What do you think?” You continued to mull it over. “I’ll wash your hair,” they added as they lightly scritched your head. You did really enjoy it when they washed your hair…

Finally you gave a nod, a bath did sound kind of nice, especially if carer was going to help you.

They stood up, rearranging your blankie to keep you snug. Then they pointed a finger at your stuffie and spoke in a playful commanding voice:

“You are under strict orders to protect our little one and keep them company while I draw water for their bath! Make sure they are not lonely, and know that I will return for them shortly!” This brought a smile to your face, your carer was so silly sometimes, but it made you feel better. Your stuffie gave a salute and carer left to go start the bath.

Your caregiver eventually came back and reached for your hand to lead you to the bathroom. But suddenly you realized that would mean leaving your stuffie behind alone! You looked up at your carer with big sad questioning eyes and held your stuffie up.

“Your stuffie? No, they can’t come into the bath with you, they have to stay here. You have other friends waiting for you in the bath.” Seeing how that made your pout even bigger they came up with an idea, “How about we find a friend to leave your stuffie behind with? That way they won't get lonely.”

You looked to your stuffie to see what they thought about it. It would be rather boring for your stuffie to just have to sit and watch while you played with other toys in the bath, they might even feel jealous.

Holding your blankie close, you stood up and found another one of your stuffies to leave them behind with. Finally, you took your carers hand and they led you to the bath.

Bubbles! And they smelled so nice too! Seeing your colorful toys amongst the bubbles as well made you excited to get in and start playing.

Your carer sat on the edge of the closed toilet next to the tub and covered their eyes with one hand.

“Here, I’ll close my eyes while you get undressed, and when you’re ready to get in the tub let me know and I’ll hold out a hand so you don’t slip and fall getting in.”

True to their word, when you were ready they held out a hand for you to hold on to while you stepped into the tub. The water was a little hot and you gasped when your foot dipped in.

“Oh, I’m sorry pumpkin, did I get the water too hot?” You could see their eyebrows furrow in worry even behind their hand, “I’ll try to get it a little cooler next time, sweet pea.” It wasn’t too hot, just startling, so you got in the rest of the way. Covered by the bubbles and already grabbing for a toy your carer finally uncovered their eyes and went to pick up your clothes.

“I’m going to go put these away and get new clothes for you. You want your fuzzy pajamas?” After thinking for a moment, you shook your head no. After a hot bath your fuzzy ones would be too warm.

“You want your lighter ones?” You shook your head yes, and with that they left the bathroom for you to play in the soap and suds with your toys.

You had been playing for a while, your carer popping in every once in a while to see if you were ready to get washed, but you kept telling them no, that you wanted to keep playing. Your fingertips started to shrivel all up by the time you finally agreed to let them wash your hair.

“Here is a washrag for you to cover yourself up if you don’t want me seeing anything, bug.” Your carer was always so thoughtful about your privacy and boundaries.

The water was starting to get cold but your carer washing your hair made it all worth it. They rubbed your favorite scented shampoo in between their hands to get it all warmed up so it wouldn’t be cold. Then, they started working it into your scalp. Their hands were gentle but firm as they massaged your head and threaded their fingers through your hair. You let yourself close your eyes and be lulled by the movements, leaning into your carers touch.

“Okay little one, now shield your eyes with your hands while I rinse off the shampoo.” This was your least favorite part, sometimes shampoo still got in your eyes no matter how hard you were covering them. But this time it thankfully didn’t as you kept your head back and they were extra careful with the water.

Next, they gently ran conditioner through your hair, apologizing whenever they hit a tangle, and eventually washed that off as well.

They took a small towel and carefully squeezed and patted your hair so it wasn’t as wet. Finally they unfurled the biggest fluffiest towel you had, closed their eyes, and held out a hand to help you out of the tub. As they wrapped you in the towel you realized that they had just put it in the dryer so it was all warm for you! Once you were covered, they opened their eyes to help you dry off. Patting your face dry they made funny faces at you till you started giggling.

“Do you want help getting dressed, munchkin?” You shook your head yes and they held open the neck of your pajama shirt for you to stick your head through, next were each of your arms, and then they started to arrange your pajama pants on the floor so you could step right into them.

Warm and clean and cozy, you waited for your carer to pull the plug on the drain and set your toys out to dry.

“Movie time?” You nodded sleepily and followed your carer into the living room to cuddle and watch one of your favorite movies before heading off to bed<3
