always an important note to anyone who needs to hear this: you are allowed to project your favorite characters/characters you relate to with mental issues/self harm whatever youre doing with to cope/to feel represented or to feel comforted!

it shouldnt be censored away with "its out of character" or "i dont want to see this on a character i like" it further stigmatizes SH and mental/physical issues into an even more taboo subject and does not allow it to be normalized.

Yes, SH happens, but we dont need to demonize people who do it. nor demonize personality, mood or general mental disorders. its okay to not be comfortable seeing it, too! you could ignore or blacklist a tag but going out of your way to tell the person depicting said issues to not do it for your own comfort is, frankly, scummy!

of course, you shouldnt depict SH and encourage it. what im saying is that its a thing that happens, and we should allow people to heal in their own ways.

I’ve forever been conflicted with the message sent by the Bogeyman’s face turning between Patrick’s and Murphy’s, thinking that it was meant to be an empathizing moment for Patrick (dog shit) but I’ve opened my eyes and come to realize Patrick is simply a placeholder. It was what he had to do to get to Patrick, it’s the guilt from sending Sewell (the only one who believed in him) into a comatose state until his death. There’s no empathy for Patrick, there’s just the fall out from what Murphy did to get there, so he’s a placeholder for the events.

Downpour wasn’t even that bad

I mean it's not terrible. But it's a bad silent hill game and a pretty mediocre horror game at best. It feels like it tries to imitate earlier games (especially sh2) and it's clearly held back because of it. The devs present a version of silent hill that feels inconsistent with the previous games because they weren't the team that made it. So you have monsters like The Boogeyman, which is just a big dude in a mask and not scary at all, it just feels like it's there out of an obligation to have a big "pyramid head" type boss and I can't help but feel they could have made a much better game if they weren't trying to copy another team's work.

There's also the fact that the monsters look like garbage, aren't scary in the slightest and don't have any sort of symbolism like in other SH games.

There's a lot of stuff I like about the game though. I think Murphy is a cool protag, and I really love the side content and actually being able to explore the town. The rain doesn't look great but a lot of the environments look nice.

If it was made as a spiritual successor that wasn't burdened by the Silent Hill ip it would have been a much better game. It's still way better than Homecoming though, most of the designs might be ass but at least it's original.
