More thoughts on the Needlebloom au: Alderheart edition
After Needletail was found by Violetpaw and carried back to ThunderClan, she slowly recovered under the care of Alderheart. The two quickly rekindled their friendship and grew closer than ever. It would ultimately be Alderheart who would persuade her to accept Leafstar’s invitation to join SkyClan.
Needlebloom might be trying to be a better cat, but she sees no issue in hopping the border to go say hi to her best friend from time to time :)

kept like jewelry, kept with devotion
Violetkit cries as Needlepaw picks her up. Her grip is gentle, but she’s being torn from Twigkit, and she reaches out toward her sister with desperate, clumsy paws. Twigkit runs after her, squeaking angrily, and ShadowClan almost surrounds them before Alderpaw’s voice comes, strong even in the chaos. “Stop!” he commands, and Needlepaw hesitates, her head turning toward him.
Alderpaw’s dark ginger pelt is fluffed up, his amber eyes narrow and angry. “Tearing apart two kits? Taking them from the only family they have? I never thought ShadowClan was heartless,” he hisses.
“ThunderClan has had enough prophecy cats!” Rowanstar growls from where he’s perched high in the oak, his claws digging furrows into the bark. “ShadowClan helped find these kits, and we have a rightful claim!”
There’s silence for a moment. Violetkit struggles, but Needlepaw’s grip gets stronger, and she isn’t able to escape.
“I am almost fully trained,” Alderpaw says at last, the words pulled from him slow but strong. “You have lost your medic. You have no one to heal your sick and injured.”
Rowanstar’s face scrunches angrily, eyes stormy. “What? Are you going to pull Flametail from the lake? Raise Littlecloud from his grave? Are you so special, royal-born?”
Royal-born? Violetkit thinks, but even her thoughts are drowned out by the ripple of offense from ThunderClan’s ranks.
“I am almost fully trained,” Alderpaw repeats calmly, stepping farther from the ranks of his agitated Clan, “and I will trade myself for Violetkit.”
“You can’t!” Squirrelflight’s voice comes. She’s standing on the roots, her eyes wide and desperate. “Alderpaw, no!”
Rowanstar turns a narrow gaze on ThunderClan’s medics. “Is it true? Is he ready for his full name?”
Leafpool’s mouth hangs open, but Jayfeather gathers himself. “He would have gotten his name at this half-moon or next,” he says, voice reedy.
Rowanstar sits back on his haunches, considering. Violetkit manages to wiggle from Needlepaw’s now-loose grip and runs back to her sister, who throws her paws around Violetkit’s black-spotted neck and pulls her nearly to the ground. They huddle under Alderpaw’s large paws, pressed against each other. Fear runs like ice through Violetkit’s veins. “Very well,” he says eventually, though he doesn’t sound happy about it. “ShadowClan accepts this trade.”
Squirrelflight wails. Alderpaw breathes a sigh of relief, dipping his head to touch first Twigkit’s and then Violetkit’s ears. “Be good. Be strong and clever and swift. May StarClan bless you both.”
And then he’s gone, striding across the clearing, not looking back. Needlepaw’s gaze meets Violetkit’s own, and then she too looks away.
(This is how Violetkit loses the only parents she’s ever known.)

AlderSky AU Part 3
Meanwhile, back with the 4 Lake Clans...
Things have gone to fox-dung to put it mildly.
Sparkpaw is devastated after Alderpaw is taken by the Twoleg during the Quest for SkyClan and Sandstorm’s death. This is exacerbated by the fact that no one seems to grieve over her brother - even Bramblestar does not seem too torn up, though Squirrelflight is taking it harder than her mate, but not as hard as Sparkpaw.
She also notes that no one in ShadowClan seems to care about Needlepaw, but all of Sparkpaw’s thoughts and emotions are occupied with her brother.
Leafpool is still sent to ShadowClan to be their temporary Medicine Cat and train a new one. A patrol is sent out to try and locate Alderpaw, and possibly Needlepaw and SkyClan.
A few days later the patrol returns unsuccessful. After talking with Squirrelflight, Bramblestar declares that Alderpaw is probably not gonna be able to be found. This sends Sparkpaw into a flurry of grief and anger, as - to her ears at least - her father has basically all but declared Alderpaw a lost cause and good as dead.
She has a hard time focusing on her training after this, causing Cherryfall to be frustrated with her.
Sparkpaw does not pay the rogues/the Kin much mind during this time, thinking of them as the other Clan’s problem since they have not attacked ThunderClan yet.
Everything pretty much progresses the same as canon for a bit:
Sparkpaw becomes a warrior - named Sparkpelt (like in canon).
Puddleshine becomes ShadowClan’s new Medicine Cat.
The Kin takes over ShadowClan.
Rowanstar, Tawnypelt and Tigerheart take refuge in ThunderClan camp.
With the three ShadowClan cats in ThunderClan camp, Sparkpelt is snappy. She thinks that Rowanstar is wimpy and is not doing a good job as a leader.
During this time, Sparkpelt bonds with Lilyheart’s kits, Honeyfur, Leafshade and Larksong, but she grows particularly close to Larksong.
The gentle tom is always willing to listen to the orange she-cat, but is always willing to give advice and give Sparkpelt a new perspective on the situation.
It is actually thanks to these talks with Larksong that gets Sparkpelt to begin to plan and be more active in bringing Darktail down.
Sparkpelt is the one who sees Darktail tell Onestar, then sees Onestar call the retreat. Sparkpelt is furious at Onestar at this and she agrees with Mistystar that it was Onestar and Rowanstar’s fault the battle was lost.
She brings this up with Larksong, who, after listening to Sparkpelt vent, suggests that Darktail told Onestar something that might be either a threat or some kind of blackmail. Sparkpelt considers this, but also wonders what on earth Darktail could have told Onestar that made him so afraid that the WindClan leader called a retreat?
Sparkpelt does have the dream/vision of Echosong dying. She sees her brother, who she calls Alderpaw not knowing that he has his full name. She does not think that this is a vision, though, as she is not a Medicine Cat, she thinks this is just a weird dream of her missing her brother.
Sparkpelt brings up her dream to her parents in private. Bramblestar and Squirrelflight both think that the dream is just Sparkpelt missing her brother, but Sparkpelt brings up she does not recognize the other cats. This does give Bramblestar and Squirrelflight pause, but Rowanstar comes into the den and asks to speak with just the ThunderClan leader and deputy. Sparkpelt rolls her eyes as she exits the den.
Sparkpelt notices Dovewing and Bumblestripe talking at Purdy’s vigil.
Sparkpelt can’t help but think about Alderpaw ever since she had the dream. She talks to Larksong about this, as well as Honeyfur, who reassures Sparkpelt that her feelings of anger over Alderpaw’s disappearance and that no one is doing anything are valid. She tells the orange she-cat that she would feel the same way if it was Larksong taken. This does make Sparkpelt feel better, but it also makes her even more determined to find her brother - but she acknowledges that they will have to deal with Darktail first.
Sparkpelt & Larksong begin to put together a few patrols to try and spy on the Kin. It shakes out to one patrol of Sparkpelt, Stormcloud, Cherryfall, Ivypool, Minnowtail, & Curlfeather and another of Larksong, Honeyfur, Fernsong, & Lizardtail. The plan is for Sparkpelt’s bigger patrol to be the more obvious scouts, while Larksong’s smaller patrol sneak into the camp to rescue any prisoners.
The reason that the cats do not tell the leaders, deputies or Medicine Cats is because they are too busy arguing amongst themselves about their next attack.
The plan works. While Sparkpelt and her patrol battle the Kin, Larksong’s patrol manages to get The ShadowClan elders, Oakfur & Ratscar, ShadowClan queen, Snowbird, and her 3 kits, Gullkit, Frondkit & Conekit, and the RiverClan prisoners, Brackenpelt, Reedwhisker, Mintfur, & Icewing.
The leaders are amazed when the patrols return with the freed cats.
It is noted that Fernsong helped the tired and weakened Snowbird with her 3 kits.
Bramblestar asked Sparkpelt what happened and Sparkpelt explained that Bramblestar and the other leaders were just standing around doing nothing. Bramblestar tries to say that that is not what they were doing - but that pushes Sparkpelt over the edge. She snaps at Bramblestar that he has done nothing. He did little to find Alderpaw - his own son and a Medicine Cat apprentice - and he has let Darktail run rampant and all he and the other leaders have done is talk and lose battles.
Larksong interferes. He tells Bramblestar, a bit more calmly, that Sparkpelt is not wrong. He calls Bramblestar and the other leaders out on how poorly they have handled the situation, pointing each leader out on what each did wrong. He repeats Sparkpelt’s points about Bramblestar, before turning to Rowanstar and telling him that his poor leadership led to the Kin infestation in the first place. He does tell Mistystar that she has not done much faults - that she is honestly handling everything the best she could. But that does not mean that she is also guilty of inaction. He then points out that it was Onestar’s hasty retreat that led to them losing the recent battle.
The leaders are shocked, but ultimately humbled. They then agree to go to WindClan and figure out an actual plan of attack.
A patrol of Bramblestar, Sparkpelt, Larksong, Tigerheart, Dovewing, and Mistystar goes to WindClan to either talk or drag an explanation and plan out of Onestar. Onestar agrees to go with them back to ThunderClan camp to explain and plan, but on the condition that all of WindClan come so that no cat is left unprotected. They all agree.
When they get back to Thunderclan camp, Onestar explains to the leaders, deputies and a few cats (Sparkpelt, Larksong & Dovewing), that Darktail is his son and that he is on his last life. Sparkpelt wants to snap at him for his cowardliness, but Larksong interview, telling Onestar that he inadvertently causes a lot of suffering for the Clans - and that now is the time to make it right. Onestar hears this, and for the first time in a while, a fire lights within his eyes.

The first sign
A dark ginger cat found his way across the damp forest floor. The undergrowth and leaves brushed against his belly as he crawled around.
He went over everything that Brightheart had told him. Bitterness began to rise in his throat. Why would they make him do this? He thought back to how Firestar had agreed to it all. An assessment at his age, but it wasn't to be a warrior. It was to decide if he should be a medicine cat, or a warrior. His fur rose on end, was he really this bad at everything?
So horrible at everything he has to prove he can hunt. But I can't. Quickly fear rose up and made his whole body stop moving. His eyes wide in fear and his fur standing up as if he was struck by lightning. "I can't!" He shouted, his breathing quickened, "I give up I can't!" He shook with fear and anxiety took over his body.
Suddenly another ginger pelt leaped after him, "Alderpaw! Calm down what's wrong?" His mother came to his aid and soothed him with licks to his face. Alderpaw was frozen but closed his eyes. Everyone is so disappointed in me. Squirrelflight wrapped her bushy tail around him and soothed out his fur. "Please tell me what's wrong." She mumbled in a slow and calm voice.
Alderpaw shuddered and shook his head, "I just can't do it, I'm not cut out to be anything." He admitted and allowed his breathing to come back to normal. Suddenly the embarrassment and disappointment quickly took over his body. "I'm not worthy of any of this." He mewed pitifully.
"Hey there is no need for that!" Alderpaw opened his eyes and saw his father standing in front of him. His large tabby frame towered over him and his mother. His amber eyes were sorrowful, "Alderpaw do you really believe that about yourself?" He asked. Alderpaw looked away in shame. Then he felt a massive paw gently caress his paws. He glanced down and saw his father's brown paws on his. "None thinks that of you, expect for yourself. Your our son and you mean the world to the whole clan." Squirrelflight protested, still tightly wrapped around him.
Alderpaw let himself relax with both of his parents at his side. He felt at peace, finally. Then almost as quick as it came it left. Sparkpaw broke out of undergrowth and disrupted the peace. Her bright orange pelt glowed in the sunlight, she was almost exactly the opposite of Alderpaw. With a bright personality and shining eyes. Compared to his own dark tabby pelt he felt bad in comparison. Although he had the same pelt color of his mother, he had stripes like his father. But even they seemed to be no match for Sparkpaw's bright orange stripes.
"Whats wrong!" She cried and bounded over to the three. Her face seemed to show genuine concern but Alderpaw looked away again, sighing. Brambleclaw walked away from Alderpaw and greeted Sparkpaw. Squirrelflight stayed tightly around Alderpaw but purred at the sight of her daughter. Alderpaw also smiled at her in greeting but felt his chest tighten with pain. She is so much more better then me. But he didn't wish to inform her on his worries.
"It's ok now, let's just get back to camp." Brambleclaw assured Sparkpaw with a lick around her ears. Alderpaws heart dropped, "I can't be a warrior can I." He admitted defeat and everyone stopped to look at him. Brambleclaw looked away obviously thinking, and Sparkpaw's mouth opened to protest but she was silent. Squirrelflight was the first to say anything, "You can take after Leafpool, you help people as much as possible being a medicine cat."
At the mention of Leafpool, Brambleclaw snapped his head around. "Don't make yourself upset." He warned. Squirrelflight shook her head, "I'm just telling him, it's not a bad thing Alderpaw." She assured him again. Alderpaw sighed and looked down at his paws. He had to accept to at some point. And if it would make his mother happy then he would do anything. Since the disappearance of her sister, the death of her friend, Ashfur, and the death of Alderpaw's littermates at birth. Squirrelflight seemed to be in a different place sometime, wishing or hoping for something to go right again.
He stood up and looked around at his family. They all were great in their own sense, they all had their own skills. Maybe he could have his with herbs? He shook out his pelt and nodded. Accepting his new life, a small feeling of excitement started in his chest. Squirrelflight came to his side and wrapped her tail around his back. Brambleclaw trotted on the other side of him with Sparkpaw at his side. "No matter what you can do either one! Just like Brightheart." Sparkpaw assured Alderpaw, "Maybe you can be a warrior and a medicine cat."
Alderpaw smiled, "Whatever happens we can still be together." He mewed, mainly to calm himself. No matter what Sparkpaw was his littermate and he loved her. Brambleclaw nudged Alderpaw and they started back towards the camp. Then he felt the sun in his eyes, and he blinked to get it out. The wind whipped around him and his fur felt shorter, more brittle in the wind. He wiped his eyes with a paw and saw a large black she-cat in front of him. Her eyes were bright green and burning into his.
"Jayfeather!" She asked, but her voice seemed so far away. "Jayfeather are you ok?" Alderpaw could hardly understand her. He immediately felt a new mix of emotions towards this she-cat, like how he feels with Sparkpaw. His vision seemed blurred and the new smell of everything hit him all at once. Heather, wheat, and a werid mix of prey. He felt memories that where not his come to him. Flashes of a tabby cat with a white chest, a dark gray cat, the field, and meadows. He shook his head and stared up at the black cat, "Jayfeather?" Her mew was hardly understandable. Who is Jayfeather, who was all the other cats?
Suddenly he felt back in his own body, he saw his parents again on either side of him. And a scared ginger and white she-cat staring down at him. Brightheart was rubbing Alderpaws chest and then noticed he was awake. "He is ok!" She yowled. And immediately Alderpaw felt noses nudge into his cheeks, and he finally realized that he was in the medicine den. "What?" He mumbled and blinked stared around. His head felt heavy and hard to hold up. His eyes drooped as if he was to fall asleep at any moment. But Squirrelflight was above him with wide eyes, "Alderpaw what happened? Are you ok? You just fell and I thought something bad had happened!" She admitted in a wail and Brambleclaw tried to soothe her.
Alderpaw shook his head and started to remember the visions he had. Maybe it was a sign? "I saw a cat! I saw multiple cats!" He shouted and then jumped up. He realized that Firestar, and Sandstorm where in the den as well. But the flashes of the tabby cat with a white chest was brought to his mind again. "I saw a cat, one that had a white chest. She was brown and had tabby stripes. She had green eyes, like yours!" He spewed and stared at Squirrelflight. Then he felt some sort of mix of the feeling he felt when staring at the cat he had saw. It was like how attached he felt with his own mother.
Everyone was dead silent. Brighthearts eye was wide in horror, and Alderpaw seemed to realize that everyone's eyes were wide in horror. He looked around anxiously, "Did I do something wrong?" He asked in a whisper. Squirrelflight shook her head, "No it couldn't have been!" She shouted and looked at her own parents, "How! How could have you have seen her!" She protested. Alderpaw was shocked, "Who." He mumbled with baited breath. "Leafpool! You saw Leafpool!"

OHHH OK now im curious. bc of this ask: https://www.tumblr.com/bonefall/729548700508160000/could-be-like-my-cousin-shes-100-percent-deaf-in?source=share about dovewing being deaf. do cats in the BB AU have a signed form of clanmew? or is it basic gestures/just the written form of clanmew for deaf/HOH cats?
signed,
someone who really loves languages (hoping to god i spelled everything right/actually used the right words. ive been rewatching 3 hour psych lectures sine 6am...)
They have a rudimentary writing system! Clan glyphs be upon ye
It's not phonetic Clanmew, it's glyphs. Snowkit, before his tragic death saving Tawnykit, was actually OBSESSED with these. If he'd survived, he would have built these out into something he could use to communicate with. He was actually a really interesting kid.
But, unfortunately... that passion went with him. Whitewing is the next cat born with a hearing problem, and she's really uninterested in them. She isn't the same creative person that he was, and struggled with the fact that her family seemed to imply she had to "live the life he couldn't."
(note: in BB, dovewing is lionblaze's adopted daughter and bio-niece.)
I think there's going to be a big of a tragedy at play, here. Whitewing has figured out her own methods of communication. It's not a full language, but she's able to communicate basic intent with "rudimentary signs" she's created on her own.
She was only ONE degree of separation away from Dovewing (as Birchfall's, Dove's mentor, mate), but...everyone was forcing Dovewing into what THEY felt she needed. More hunting practice, more glyph practice, more lip-reading. Dovewing wasn't allowed to set her own pace or learn in her own way.
And her response was to bolt, taking all the possibility with her.
IT was the right choice for Dovewing, I think. She thinks that too. But, it wasn't the ONLY choice, you know? There's always things left unsaid and things you'll never be able to try when you make such a big decision. Who knows what could have been?
Maybe Dove and White would have ended up creating the start of a brand new dialect of Clanmew Sign Language, or changed the glyph system in a way that fit them better. Maybe that's not what matters; maybe they would have just been able to make each other feel less alone.
But as it is...
Every deaf, HOH, and mute cat in BB is currently disconnected from each other. They can't pool their skills except at Gatherings.
So Fallowfern, Dovewing, Whitewing, and Stoneclaw all have their own unique way of communicating.
There are tail signs which are used for battle, and glyphs which are used for writing.
Info: Those who go deaf later in life are still usually able to speak. Those who were born deaf often have a harder time. (Clarifying because this is apparently not common knowledge?)
OH! Bonus! Here's how each of those four tend to communicate!
Dovewing
She's REALLY frustrated by everyone forcing solutions on her. I think part of her actually really likes that she can say whatever and then not hear the response. It's like, "Deal with it. Show me you care with your actions if it's so important."
ZERO patience for people who just try to talk over her. She will immediately respect you if you listen to her carefully; only then will she give you the time of day to try and talk back. She kinda treats it like a privilege to talk to her, and she WILL revoke it without remorse.
People who have earned this privilege;
Heartstar. Naturally. And all of their children.
All of the Guardian cats, especially Antfur who is her best friend.
Violetshine, weirdly enough. She visits ShadowClan now and then and Dovewing is very fond of her and her wife and husband.
Strikestone and her new family
Squirrelflight
Briarlight
Alderheart and Sparkpelt
Twigbranch
Fernsong (BUT HE IS ON THIN. ICE. As Ivypool's husband.)
Her preferred method of being talked to is glyph writing. Heartstar is really creative with them, and it's super endearing. She improvises signs a lot and draws full pictures, making whole "doodle pages", even writing little "love letters" in the dirt before Dove wakes up. Literally peak romance, Dovewing loves her wife so muchhh
Whitewing
Also has low patience, but in a more "quick" way. She doesn't like people who take a lot of her time trying to phrase something simple and act awkwardly around her. Time is prey to Whitewing-- cut to the chase and communicate what you need her to do.
Interestingly, this leads to her really disliking Bramblestar as a leader. He's very inattentive to her needs when he organizes patrols on his own. She has very strong opinions and bad synergy with some of her Clanmates, and if she's forced on a patrol with them it ruins her day.
(She's really relieved when Squilf is reinstated post-BOTTE, Squilf knows about this quirk and accounts for it.)
Her love with Birchfall was actually a long time in the making. He really sees her, and something about the way they communicate just clicks. It's easy. They were friends, then partners, and then eventually mates and have been close their whole lives. Their body language just makes sense to each other.
She's been deaf her whole life and only knows a few very important words, but won't "speak" words if she doesn't have to. She does have a habit of making noises when she's happy though, beeping, meowing, and meeping when she's surprised and "not in work mode."
Whitewing is the kind of deaf cat in those videos who sees their human is home and goes "MEEEEEEEEEA." She would walk into a bathroom and wail so she could feel the vibrations on her paws. Vocalizing feels good. She is NOT a quiet person unless she's hunting.
Her preferred method of communication is mostly modified tail signs, but ThunderClan broadly uses glyphs, but she doesn't want to correct them on it. She feels bad telling them it's frustrating that they take so long to draw.
Stoneclaw
She has selective mutism. Her vigil was the night of the WindClan Massacre, and while sitting outside the camp with her temporary silence, ShadowClan attacked and killed her sister Thrushwing in front of her.
At first, WindClan thought it was nobility, that she'd "carried out her vigil to the bitter end." But it never healed. It's not a choice, it's trauma. She can speak when she's extremely relaxed but it's a really rare circumstance.
But, the legacy is to her benefit. She's the granddaughter of Tallstar (through Flylight, his adopted son), has an honorable story, and is a strong and confident warrior... in the daytime. She never hunts at night, when the sun sets, so does she.
(Clan cats are crepuscular, working in the morning and in the evening, but Stoneclaw only takes daylight shifts.)
Glyphs serve her fine, but she really dislikes using tail signs to communicate... brings up really bad memories.
She would REALLY benefit from someone making an effort to "legitimize" some sort of CSL, it would be like a support club to her. SO if it ever happened, Stoneclaw would jump at the chance to join. She's probably friends with Fallowfern though, once SkyClan arrives. Stoneclaw lives to become a very old girl.
Fallowfern
Mom of the Road Safety Man, guy who knows a million words for vehicles, Rabbitleap, and best friend and co-parent with Hawkwing, Plumwillow, Fallowfern is an old cat who ends up losing her hearing later in life like Dovewing!
I'm actually not entirely decided on her personality, but I'm feeling that she'd make a really good "glue" to hold everyone together. Like some kind of organizer-type person, someone who's very good at networking. She's really upset to be losing her hearing, it signifies a lot of really negative things to her.
She suddenly can't talk with a lot of people... even the ones who are reaching out to her are doing exactly that. Reaching out to her.
She likes being the reacher-outerer. It feels like being old and washed up.
SkyClan is a very good, connected Clan, with bonds notoriously VERY strong in comparison to the other Forest Four because of shared persecution... but
She's got this awful feeling that everyone's just coddling her, being nice to her, sending her to the elder's den like a trinket on a shelf.
"Does this mean... does this mean I'm going to lose music? Will anyone dance with me ever again? Do my babies want me to join them, or... or are they just tolerating stinky old mama <:( ?"
They're NOT, btw. Of course not. She's Fallowfern and she means a lot to them.
So I think at the VERY least, she finds a fondness for Stoneclaw at Gatherings. Elder friends, girlies who bond over making little grandma bracelets, but I'm not sure if it's HIT them yet that they can do something very cool together.
In fact it would be kind of funny if they weren't even aware of each other's disabilities at first, like they just started hanging out quietly. Fallowfern assumed that Stoneclaw just doesn't have anything to say and Stoneclaw figured Fallowfern was respecting her silence.
Like something just gravitated them to each other in the most natural, orbital way.
And then Snapstorm, Stoneclaw's wife, bumbles up like "Hey babe who's your friend :) ?" And Stoneclaw smiles, nods at Fallowfern to introduce herself, and then Fallow's like... "Oh I can't hear you, honey."
Stone: !!! (Taps self and makes a crossing motion over her throat)
Fallow: O_O "Ohhhh"
BUT, anyway,
Her preferred form of communication is unequivocally glyphs. I imagine SkyClan might have more written characters than other Clans, simply because they used them a LOT during their time apart under Spiderstar's Plan. Plus, they used to see a lot of road signs which they may have just adopted as glyphs.
Hmm... yeah, seems very cute that The Road Family's traffic theme continues, lmao

I wonder how much would’ve changed if Nightheart’s story was everyone saying how unlike Firestar he is.
That everyone in Thunderclan became so accustomed to the goal of being like Firestar, that when a cat who isn’t quite right comes in they can’t help but judge him?
Nearly everyone is related to Firestar anyways, so it makes more sense to have this cultish obsession with being like the Greatest Leader That Ever Was that those who are outside of the norm are shunned.
LIKE Sparktail vs Alderheart? Sparktail was always brave, confident, and loyal. Alderheart was anxious, hesitant, and a little disloyal (crushing on Needlepaw, willing to allow Twigkit and Violetkit to meet in secret) so instead of working him through his troubles, he was shoved into the medicine cat den.
It would’ve been interesting to see Nightheart being given this treatment “oh, you failed your assessment three times? Maybe you’re supposed to be a medicine cat.”
Because Firestar wasn’t a medicine cat, he was a warrior. Therefore cats who are not like him must be destined as medicine cats!
Nightheart running away to Shadowclan, still as Flamepaw and pinning over Sunbeam would’ve been interesting. Since the age gap would still be obvious between the two just by keeping the apprentice name! Then the relationship could’ve ended with Flamepaw leaving Shadowclan
I would then boot him to Skyclan where Rootspring becomes his mentor/big brother figure because Rootspring understands Flamepaw: a family lineage that’s hard to call your own and a forbidden love that ended bitterly (bonus: Flamepaw is kicked out of Shadowclan after recklessly endangering Sunbeam and causing her an injury. This pushed Sunbeam closer to Shadowsight plus adds to the narrative that Lightleap gets away with stuff as the leader’s kit whereas Flamepaw isn’t shown any mercy towards his reckless behaviors)
Of course I’d still stick with my Flamepaw gets kicked out everywhere and becomes a loner AU idea, but this can actually tie in to Frostpaw’s drama if say she has to travel outside of the clans to discover the truth for Riverclan? Flamepaw (who maybe named himself Night now) might be able to aid her.
AND you can have it that at this point Sunbeam is the acting guard for Frostpaw, so it ends up with the three working together. (Night and Sunbeam make up during this time, Sunbeam seeing that Night has finally grown. But it’s too late for romance between them as Sunbeam confesses to having feelings for Shadowsight.)

Explaining this nightmare of a family tree for my Wrong Queens AU :D
Tumblr media
This is my first Tumblr post so sorry if I make any mistakes or break any Tumblr etiquette ^^
Disclaimer this is not a rewrite, this is just a silly AU for me to brainrot over :3
SO! let's get into this (also I tend to give characters legacy names A LOT because I head canon that it's a common thing in clan society, and I just think it's cute)
Squirrelflight's kits and partners
Squirrelflight is still the daughter of Sandstorm and Firestar, and she still went on the great journey, meeting Brambleflower, Tawnyclaw, Feathertail, Stormfur, and Crowfeather. She became romantically involved with Ashfur soon after settling at the lake (no squirrelbramble yet thank god). After a few moons of dating, she broke up with him because he's the worst, but she ended up pregnant with his kits (Dovekit and Ivykit).
Around this time, Leafpool became pregnant with Brambleflower's kits, so the mollys and Brambleflower decided to make all their kits seem like one large litter of Squirrelflight and Brambleflower and basically set Squirrelflight and Brambleflower up as always having been a couple. Fast forward a bit and Dovekit, Ivykit, Jaykit, Hollykit, and Lionkit are born, and Leafpool breaks up with Brambleflower because he's the worst.
After the kits become warriors and medicine cats (Lionstorm, Hollyclaw, Jayfeather, Dovewing, and Ivypool), Squirrelflight becomes unhappy with her relationship with Brambleflower because he's the worst and starts sneaking off to see her old friend Tawnyclaw. When Hollyclaw and Dovewing die, Squirrelflight decides to leave Thunderclan and Brambleflower to go live in Shadowclan with her new mate Tawnyclaw (Tawnyclaw is a trans girl in this au) accompanied by Jayfeather.
Tawnyclaw and Squirrelflight end up having Alderheart and Sparkfire and they are very happy and in love!
Leafpool's kits and partners
Leafpool is the only other cat with a complicated line so she and Squirrelflight are the only two in this post :D
ANYWAYS, Leafpool is still the daughter of Sandstorm and Firestar, and she still went on the great journey with her sister, meeting all the same cats as Squirrelflight.
Leafpool was always kind of torn between Brambleflower and Crowfeather but she always knew she couldn't have either of them, so she always kept a safe distance. Brambleflower approached her and eventually it turned into a full on forbidden romance by the time they got settled in the new Thunderclan territory.
Coming home from the moonpool one half moon, she ran into Crowfeather and she ended up falling for him all over again, despite him not being very present in her life and her being in a relationship with Brambleflower.
When she became pregnant with Brambleflower's kits she ghosted Crowfeather, and came up with the plan to give her kits to Squirrelflight and Brambleflower to raise. After the kits were born and she broke up with Brambleflower, Leafpool decided that maybe she'd had enough of relationships and vowed to never fool around with another cat again.
4 moons later she was pregnant with Crowfeathers kit.
When Breezekit was born, Crowfeather took him into Windclan to be raised by him and his mate Nightcloud.
AND that (mostly) wraps up the main family tree and basic breakdown of this AU :D if you have any questions about anything (design changes, events, relationships, etc.) my asks are open!

What is up with Spark and her arc in your AU?
Sparkfire becomes a villain in my AU.
TLDR; Sparkfire is jealous of Hollystar and spills Willowshine's blood in the Moon Pool in order to reawaken some of StarClan and The Dark Forest's power in hopes of being able to speak to the ancestors she has idolized since kithood.
The way the clans defeat the Dark Forest is by cutting off their connection. Light can't exist without darkness, so to keep the Dark Forest from continuing to attack them in the mortal world, they not only have to break The Dark Forest's power to walk in dreams and hurt the living, but StarClan's as well.
Brambleclaw dies in The Great Battle, meaning Sparkkit and Alderkit mostly grow up without him. Their memories of him when they were kits is limited, but positive. The two of them are apprenticed after StarClan and The Dark Forest are banished away, meaning they grow up without having the chance to speak with StarClan like everyone else older than them had.
A Vision of Shadows is largely rewritten, as SkyClan has returned already in Po3 timeline wise. We jump immediately to Darktail existing and having great sway over the clan cats due to their loss of StarClan. Many feel they are no better than rogues now without their ancestors to guide them. This is made worse when Harespring is unable to get his nine lives as the new leader of WindClan because their ancestors are inaccessible. Will leaders just go on without the gifts of nine lives from StarClan?
When this happens the medicine cats are as such
ThunderClan: Jayfeather w/ Alderpaw apprentice. Alderpaw is intrigued by StarClan due to their history, but is disappointed when he learns that not even medicine cats can speak with them. They really are alone. Leafpool died in The Great Battle.
ShadowClan: Littlecloud w/ Puddlepaw apprentice. Much like Alderpaw, Puddlepaw is also curious about the stars and wants to learn more.
WindClan: Kestrelflight. He has no apprentice. Sole medicine cat of WindClan going through the biggest issues due to their leader not able to get his nine lives.
RiverClan: Mothwing and Willowshine. Well. Kinda. Mothwing is doing really bad mentally and isn't working after The Great Battle and StarClan's existence being made true, as well as seeing her brother.
SkyClan: Frecklewish and Fidgetpaw. Fidgetpaw is much more on the healing and helping side regardless of StarClan compared to that of Alderpaw and Puddlepaw.
Darktail needs a medicine cat, and everyone believes he won't get one. His force has grown stronger and stronger, troubling the clans who are still recovering from The Great Battle. Seeing how ThunderClan is suffering and wanting his older brother Lionblaze to stop pushing himself to near death for the sake of his newly born kits, Alderpaw steps forward so that Darktail's attacks will stop. Alderpaw is our point of view within Darktail's camp, witnessing the mix of cats who join willingly, as well as those who are forced in, like the kidnapped Twigkit and Violetkit.
Sparkfire is a big ThunderClan loyalist, and has a lot of pride in her lineage. She never got to meet Firestar, nor really experience knowing her father. She's prideful yet kind, and looks to be the ideal ThunderClan cat to be the best reflection of Firestar, Brambleclaw, Jayfeather, Hollystar, Lionblaze, and Squirrelflight - the cats who will be remembered for a long time as prophecy cats/leaders of the clan. However over the course of Vision of Shadows rewrite, Sparkfire continues to lose.
Alderheart initially promises to return once they figure out how to overthrow Darktail, but this doesn't come to fruition as Alderheart ultimately decides to stay with the reformed group after the death of his friend Needletail. Then Sparkfire's mate Larksong dies.
She lost the chance to speak with StarClan ever. She loses her brother and her mate. She had lost her father, simply never having a chance to know him. She begins to see how she is not reaching any of the points all of these other clanmates are reaching. Sparkfire sees all her loss and watches as Hollystar stands proudly leading the clan alongside her own mate, Cinderheart - how Squirrelflight is deputy to her. Sparkfire begins to believe she should be the one standing there, and that Hollystar, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze stole her chance at that.
StarClan blessed two cats who aren't even fully ThunderClan, her parents raising them as their own, Sparkfire not even being able to speak with Firestar or Brambleclaw even if she wanted to with StarClan's absence. Hollystar has told Sparkfire how Brambleclaw gave her the final of her nine lives and her send off to him, that closure. Old words are sprouting new wounds in Sparkfire who is angered by all she has lost while those around her remain blessed. Even her kits are born weak, with Flickerkit dying and Flamekit barely able to drink milk properly.
This is when the rewritten Fire Scene happens - I wanted this iconic moment to prevail, but of course under different circumstances. When lightning strikes, Sparkfire sees this as her opportunity. Alderheart races to ThunderClan's territory to help them, fearful for his family since Sparkfire was still in the nursery. Sparkfire knows now since Harestar was finally able to receive his nine lives upon it being revealed Willowshine is the only one with the loophole connection, that Willowshine could reverse the lock placed on StarClan. With ThunderClan scattered thanks to the fire, Sparkfire gets Hollystar and Squirrelflight alone, leading them through the flames on her designated path while Lionblaze and Jayfeather have taken Flamekit ahead already. Hollystar and Squirrelflight don't know this yet though, going back in to help Sparkfire "find" her son.
Side note I haven't decided if Finchlight will die as a kit alongside Flickerkit or not because only child Nightheart sounds fun, but it works either way here. Anyway Alderheart encounters Lionblaze and Jayfeather with Flamekit, asking where his sisters and mother are, going back in to find them. Lionblaze calls him back, but Alderheart relents.
Sparkfire lashes out at Hollystar, blaming her for everything Sparkfire never had, the ginger she-cat adamant she should've been the one who experienced all Hollystar had. Hollystar tries to reason with her alongside Squirrelflight, but it doesn't work. The two fight but Sparkfire was Hollystar's apprentice - she knows her moves well. She manages to knock Hollystar into the fire, the leader falling down below and losing her first life. Sparkfire doesn't have the heart to kill Squirrelflight by her own paws, and instead leaves her trapped in the fire believing it'll finish her off with all of the smoke. What she doesn't expect is Alderheart getting to them, having seen them all together through the haze, but only reaching Squirrelflight's side after Hollystar has fallen and Sparkfire goes to collect her. Squirrelflight is unconscious at this point, Alderheart carrying her out.
Because StarClan is in such a limbo state, when a leader loses a life, they don't immediately awaken, at this point needing Willowshine. Sparkfire believes she has escaped with the downed Hollystar, but she is ultimately exposed by Squirrelflight upon the dark ginger she-cat awakening alongside her clan and telling Alderheart, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather what happened. A rescue mission is launched to save Hollystar.
Sparkfire lures Willowshine out by telling her she's needed to save Hollystar and connect with StarClan as she did for Harestar. Sparkfire has allied herself with Sleekwhisker as well, ambushing Willowshine to bring her to the Moonpool. This would've gone smoothly had it not been for Alderheart, confronting them there alongside the assembled group as they plead Sparkfire to stop.
Unfortunately it does not work though, as Sparkfire strikes a devastating blow to Willowshine, spilling the blessed she-cat's blood within the pool. The assembled group charges, but alas it has already been done. Hollystar immediately wakes up, returning to her body upon the connection reopening.
A thing to understand about the afterlife in Warrior cats is there's a respectful distance that must be kept. When the door is shut, it'll stay that way, but when it's opened again, if the mortals abuse that connection, it'll open wider and wider until the dead ancestors can walk amongst them again, thus repeating the issues with The Dark Forest. Sparkfire reopens the gate, allowing leaders to receive nine lives again and cats to speak at the MoonPool, but the conditions were very strict still, rather than as open as they became before.
Anyway, Sparkfire manages to flee, her and Sleekwhisker being rogues post Vision of Shadows, though lingering around the Moonpool. She keeps an eye on Flamekit, who is in a way adopted by Hollystar to take care of.

Not the same anon, but seeing as I have kept up with both your AUs and with canon I may be able to help answer! I think DM!Squirrel would probably prefer Sparkpelt, since Spark is repeatedly described as a Firestar copy (except female) or looking exactly like Firestar and she's pretty sure of herself and brave while Alderheart...well first thing: Bramblestar forced him into the medicine cat role, because Alder has anxiety and his warrior mentor brought up concerns and Bramble didn't like it?? So yeah, he had Jayfeather take Alderpaw in after like a week of warrior training for him. The Starclan sent him the Skyclan dreams and made him bring Skyclan to the lakes so that made the other clans pretty upset, until a mix of Starclan sending a huge storm and killing a Shadowclan warrior who put deathberries in a clan's prey pile got them to shut up. Tigerheartstar still had a virgil for that warrior cause he saved Shadowkit but I remember canon!Squirrel gave him major side eye, she was all...'I know he saved your son, but he literally poisoned a clan's preypile...that's pretty bad.'
I'll take your word for, I was eventually just going to say whichever one was most similar to pre-Long Shadows Hollyleaf

Ah yes back to my roots. Let’s gooo
In the first AU, Velvet basically becomes another medicine cat, but Bramblestar does not approve of what he thinks is a Romance between Alderheart and the kittypet. It’s a deep friendship close to being siblings, but instead of her leaving the clans altogether, Puddleshine asks if she can come to Shadowclan, I need all the help I can get! She visits Alderheart on the border often, and when VelvetPuddle happens (with Tigerheartstar stepping in to approve), Alder acts as an honorary uncle, even bringing them the abandoned Snakekit.
In the Hypoparents, Leafpaw stays a warrior, with an abandoned kitten becoming the next medicine cat. Bramblepetal is a big soft boy who convinces his brother to Stop Being Evil, and loves his beautiful wife and children. SquirrelShrew have Holly and Lion, while Ashfur brings home a blind kit he claims as his, and Jay is fostered with his eventual Prophecy pals

In which a kittypet named Needle befriends Alderpaw and insists on taking Violet to join the Kin with her. She makes Molewhisker even more angry than canon
I used this kitty as a reference, I wanted to draw a Devon Rex :)
(Needletail variation requests are closed for now, tysm to everyone who sent one in!)

AlderSky AU Part 1
So, when I was reading AVOS, I was always kind of expecting for Alderpaw/heart to join SkyClan as a poetic full circle kind of situation: His grandparents Fire and Sand were the ones to reform the lost Clan, he has SkyClan blood through Bramblestar (being a descendant of Cloudstar and Birdsong’s kits), and he raised Twig - it all just seemed so perfect!
But then the Erins decided to stick with the status quo and I could not help be feel like it was a huge wast of potential on Alderheart’s end. So, I decided to write my own version of Alderheart and Needletail joining SkyClan.
(There will be multiple parts and will be written in more of a summery style, so let me know if anyone wants a more story-like version) Now, let’s start!
Things are mostly the same up until the quest to find SkyClan, though it does happen a litter earlier, so Alderpaw and Needlepaw are a little bit older. During the quest, both Alderpaw and Needlepaw are taken by a Twoleg and are driven away from the quest group. Alder and Needle eventually escape, but are so far from Clan territory that they have no idea where they are. Thankfully, by StarClan’s wish, they do manage to find the now wandering SkyClan. (This is about right before the events of Pebbleshine’s Kits)
When Alder and Needle introduce themselves, Echosong realizes that, Alderpaw being Firestar’s grandson, might be the “Spark that Remains” prophecy.
Leafstar and others (mainly Hawkwing), are suspicious after everything with Darktail, and while they agree to let Alder and needle travel with them, they will not be part of SkyClan until they either stay with the group for a moon or prove their loyalty. Alderpaw thinks that is reasonable while Needlepaw thinks it is excessive.
Alderpaw and Needlepaw are able to guide SkyClan in the general direction they came from, but since they came to the area via kid/catnapping they do not know they specific way. One pointer is that they are able to prevent Pebbleshine from being taken, which earns them Hawkwing’s support.
When Plumwillow goes into labor by the lake, Alderpaw is there to help and Plumwillow is grateful to the apprentice for his help. Alderpaw is also there to assist in Pebbleshine’s birth of Twigkit and Violetkit. And when the dogs burst into the camp, Needlepaw helps fight them off.
By the time Curlypaw and Parselyseed leave to become kittypets, both Alderpaw and Needlepaw have proven that they can be loyal SkyClan warriors.
Leafstar makes both cats the offer to join the SkyClan as full members. Needlepaw says yes immediately, having already been disillusioned to ShadowClan and feeling more connected to SkyClan. Alderpaw has to think about it a bit more, admitting that while he loves SkyClan and already feels massive amounts of loyalty to the cats, he still loves and misses his kin back in ThunderClan.
He later has a dream that night where he is visited by Firestar and Sandstorm. Firestar tells his grandson that even though he left his kittypet life behind, that does not mean he forgot or stopped loving his kin who were still kittypets and he applies that logic to Alderpaw’s dilemma. This gives Alderpaw the resolve to tell Leafstar that he will also be joining SkyClan.
With Curlypaw having left, Needlepaw become Hawkwing’s new apprentice and the two get along like a dry bush on fire. Alderpaw starts training under Echosong, but the SkyClan Medicine Cat is already training Fidgetpaw and she also leaves soon after to follow her vision.
Alderpaw allows Fidgetpaw to continue to be SkyClan’s main Medicine Cat Apprentice since the SkyClan cats are more used to him. Alderpaw, meanwhile, tends to spend his days helping Plumwillow and Pebbleshine with their kits: playing with them, helping keep the nursery clean, keeping an eye on the health of the kits and their mothers. He also ends up filling the role of a father to Reedkit, Finkit and Dewkit since Hawkwing is with his own daughters and Sandynose is still missing.
This continues until the other cats are captured (including Fidgetpaw and Waspwhisker). Now Alderpaw is left as SkyClan’s Medicine Cat and Hawkwing is made deputy. This is also when Leafstar decides that Needlepaw is more than ready for her warrior name.
Leafstar decides to name her Needlestorm, in honor of both her strong personality and fighting skills and also in memory of Sandstorm. Needle loves her new name and both Hawkwing and Alderpaw are very proud.
Alderpaw, meanwhile, struggles with the responsibilities of being the only cat with Medicine training. He has gotten steadily more and more stressed and it shows. While this does not stop him from successfully treating the sickness and saving both Rileypool and Firefern from dying, it is clear that his nerves and the stress of it all is getting to him.
Echosong eventually returns and expresses her pride and gratitude to Alderpaw for treating her Clanmates while she was away as well as her grief at Fidgetpaw’s capture. Alderpaw is grateful that Echosong is back, but the events have made Alderpaw question if being a Medicine Cat is really the right choice for him...
Meanwhile, Sandynose is finally able to reunite with SkyClan and his family - though instead of his kits being more attached to Hawkwing, now they are more attached to Alderpaw - and cat Sandynose has never meet.
This leads to Sandynose being a bit hostile to Alderpaw, which the younger tom understanbds, but it does not help his stress levels. Needlestorm sees this has a word with both Alderpaw and Sandynose.
She tells Sandynose off for taking out his misplaced frustration out of Alderpaw, who has done nothing but love his and Plumwillow’s kits like they are his own and cared for them when Sandynose could not. She also reminds him that Alderpaw is the Medicine Cat Apprentice and it is his job to look after the well-being of the Clan’s kits, and even if he is still getting used to her and Alderpaw, that is not excuse to treat them unfairly.
Sandynose is stunned by the she-cat’s words but admits that she is is right and will put in more effort to be kinder to Alderpaw.
Later, Needlestorm talks to Alderpaw, concerned about his recent stress levels and constant nervous attitude. Alderpaw kind of ends breaking down right in front of Needlestorm and in his ramble induced panic admits that he did not even choose to be train as a Medicine Cat, Leafpool and Jayfeather received a vision about him and he was doing so poorly in warrior cat training that his father decided to push into the Medicine Cat role.
This surprises Needlestorm, but she does not say anything, just cuddles close to Alderpaw as he just, lets all his pent up emotions out. He eventually falls asleep on her shoulder and she stays there, not wanting to disturb him.
It does get her thinking though... Is there a role that might suit Alderpaw better?
And that’s all for part 1 for now. Check out part 2 for more!

I always thought the Broken Code should have been about Alderheart and Sparkpelt, but I also loved the good parts of A Vision of Shadows. So I decided to combine it into something I call A Broken Vision AU
Full AU under cut since it's kinda long
Replace Shadowsight and Bristlefrost completely
Sparkpelt and Alderheart are the main protagonists
Alderheart gets visions like Shadowsight
Sparkpelt is dealing with the pressure of being perfect and Firestar’s legacy
Starclan is cut off from the living
Alderpaw puts Bramblestar in the snow and he dies
Ashfur possesses him
Alderpaw and Sparkpaw receive the same vision of Skyclan
The sneak out to find Skyclan with Sandstorm because Brashstar (Ashfur possessing Bramblestar) won't let them leave
Needlepaw follows along
Sandstorm still dies
The find ‘Skyclan’ and Darktail
The discover he is nothing but bad news and kicked out the real Skyclan
On the way back to the clans, Alderpaw and Needlepaw find a kit
This kit is part of the prophecy
Plays the role of Violetshine and Rootspring
Note: the Sisters don’t exist, it’s more of a Goosefeather situation
Needlepaw calls the kit Darkkit
They take the kit back
Rowanstar wants the kit and Brashstar doesn’t care so Shadowclan take Darkkit
Darktail does all his usually stuff
Brashstar refuses to help and grows worse towards his clanmates
He is manipulating Sparkpaw
She mentions to him that she is struggling under Firestar’s legacy
Brashstar names her Sparkfire and she is horrified but says nothing
Note: she is made a warrior very early
Darktail takes Riverclan
Squirrelflight begs Brashstar to do something about Darktail or at least help Shadowclan and Riverclan and he removes her as deputy
He makes Sparkfire deputy and gives her an apprentice at the same time
She is crumbling at the seams but trying her best
Darkpaw is living with Needletail and Darktail
He keeps seeing the ghost of Bramblestar but Needletail tells him to keep it secret
He does his best to ignore Bramblestar as Darktail continues his tyranny
Brashstar is making Alderpaw’s hell
Brashstar has exiled Leafpool and Jayfeather as well as other clanmates under the guise of them being codebreakers
Squirrelflight takes Sparkfire and they beg Onestar for help but he refuses
Brashstar finds out and he exiles Squirrelflight
He sends Sparkfire to hunt and she falls into his dog attack trap
Alderpaw struggles to save his sister but manages it
Darkpaw goes to clear his mind and falls into the lake near the Thunderclan border
Sparkfire saves him and Alderheart helps him heal
They come up with the plan to kill Darktail
Darkpaw doesn’t mention Bramblestar’s ghost even though Bramblestar is begging him to speak
Darkpaw tries to poison Darktail and gets caught
Darktail tries to make Needletail kill Darkpaw but she refuses
Darkpaw runs away to Thunderclan
Needletail dies
Squirrelflight fakes her death and Brashstar is upset
Sparkfire is finally able to convince him to talk to Onestar and the other exiled clans since he is so depressed he won't argue
Shadowclan and Riverclan have been living on the outskirts of clan territory
They all go to Onestar and he confesses to Darktail being his son
Onestar and Darktail have their big fight and both die
Harestar can’t receive his nine lives but tries his best to lead anyways
Darkpaw mentions Bramblestar’s ghost to Alderheart and Sparkfire
They are not sure if the believe him, they were young when he was possessed so he has always been this way to them
Squirrelflight is living in Shadowclan in secret under Tigerstar 2, since Tigerheart’s Shadow happens a little earlier
Squirrelflight believes Darkpaw
Darkpaw receives a vision about Skyclan and leaves with Sparkfire to find them
Brashstar attacks Shadowclan when he finds out Squirrelflight is there
Alderheart is in shambles as Brashstar admits to being Ashfur
Brashstar steals Squirrelflight and drags her into the Moonpool

They find Skyclan and bring them back
Darkpaw is Hawkwing’s son
Darkpaw finally feels at home in Skyclan and hasn’t been happier as he trains with his father
Alderheart fills everyone in on what they missed
Darkpaw says they need to go to the Dark Forest
Leafstar gives him his warrior name since he might not come back alive
His name is Darksong
Sparkfire and Darksong fully fall in love and spend time together
They assemble volunteers to go to the Dark Forest
Alderheart, Sparkfire, Darksong and all the other volunteers go to the Dark Forest with the help of past Dark Forest trainees
They get there
Same things happen as before, like Snowtuft and Ashfur’s ghost army and the black water
Firestar doesn’t possess anyone though because that is so dumb
They dig out the hole to Starclan
The big battle takes place
Ashfur tries to manipulate Sparkfire one last time and is about to kill her
Alderheart stops him but has no chance against Ashfur so Darksong steps in
Darksong, Alderheart and Ashfur fall into the black water
The three of them die
Sparkfire goes to jump in after them but Squirrelflight stops her
Bramblestar and Sparkpelt have a quiet conversation about losing brothers and legacies
Bramblestar renames Sparkfire to Sparkpelt
Sparkpelt is pregnant and yells at a gathering about the Warrior Code
The Clans decide to change the code for the betterment of everyone

I know we're in DotC era, but all the talk of Clear Sky made me want to ask; what's your thoughts on Breezepelt? Do you have plans for him in this AU? Will he still try to murder a pregnant woman he doesn't know and than have it never brought up again?
Breezy is getting a big promotion; he is a POV for AVoS along with Heathertail! It is now a WindClan and ShadowClan centric arc, with most of Alderheart and Twigbranch's material being moved to side content.
AVoS is about the Kin, from beginning to end.
In OotS, he is also actually worse. He manages to kill Firestar just before Po3 lets out, thrusting Bramblestar into power.
As for attacking Poppyfrost... that's up in the air. It's going to need some reworking based on how Poppy has changed from canon, since she is now having Ivypool and Dovewing. Molewhisker and Cherryfall are in a second one. The first two were Jayfeather's, the second two were Berrynose's.
Also Brokenstar is no longer part of the DF, AND evil spirits can't physically attack the living until the night of the Great Battle. So Breezepelt may be doing it alone just to spite Jayf.

Firestar’s family tree for my PO3 AU!!
To go with my Dappletail and Mapleshade tree.
Notes below the cut :)
Crystal has Jake, Ferris, and Whiskers. And Jake has two litters with Quince and Nutmeg respectively. I’m considering making Quince and Nutmeg mates and having Jake as a donor for both. Maybe Scourge and Firestar knew each other when they were kits, making Scourge younger?
Switching up TNP and PO3 relationships, Squirrelflight and Crowstorm (Crowfeather) have a fling that results in Alderheart, Jayflight (Jayfeather), and Sparkstorm (Sparkpelt). At the same time, Leafpool is in a relationship with Mothwing, and they have Lionblaze, Hollyshine (Hollyleaf), Juniperkit, and Dandelionkit. The two litters are born at the same time and the five surviving kits are raised together by Squirrelflight with no stated sire.
Brightheart and Thornclaw are found abandoned as kits. They’re raised by Frostfur alongside Brackenfur and Cinderlight (Cinderpelt).
As she is now much older than (and related to) Larksong, Sparkstorm has her litter with Toadstep. Ferncloud, Toadstep, and Flickerkit die in the Dark Forest battle when a cat gets into the nursery. Whitewing fosters Finch and Flame while she’s grieving.
Brightheart and Cloudtail have their second litter much sooner than canon, between Ferncloud’s second and Sorreltail’s first. Ambermoon and Dewnose are born during the journey while they stay with the tribe.
On the other hand, Whitewing and Birchfall have another litter at the time Brightheart canonically has Amber, Dew, and Snow. The litter is only Snowbush.
Cinderheart is instead Emberheart, to remember both her aunt Cinderspark and her uncle Sootfur who die in the fight against the badgers. The reincarnation plot does not happen. She is mates with Ambermoon; they have Hollytuft, Fernsong, and Brackenstripe (Sorrelstripe) together.
Instead of Sorreltail, it’s Brackenfur that dies in the Dark Forest battle. Sorrelstripe is now Brackenstripe.
Tigerheart is now Goldenheart, after his grandmother. He never becomes leader of ShadowClan. Blackstar dies soon after Sol is chased out and Russetstar (Russetfur) is leader when the Kin take over. Tawnyclaw (Tawnypelt) becomes leader after she dies.
Dovewing and Ivypool are older than in canon. Their first gathering is the one after Hollyshine (Hollyleaf) disappears.
For now I’m keeping Rowankit’s original gray tabby description. I imagine I’ll end up changing her to a tortie in the future. I’ll also change Dovewing to a dilute tortie, inheriting the red gene from Whitewing, which is hidden beneath a dominant white. I do like the gray better tho...
Blossomfall and Ivypool are mates. Both have litters of kittens with loners and raise them together. Bristlefrost looks up to Stemleaf as an older brother figure.

What did buster/rippletail (shadowclan) seen react fuzzball as? Did buster seen fuzzball as his sidekick or sibling figure or platonic friends or platonic partner or child figure? :]. I'm am so invested in your headcanon/alternative universe (au) story of buster. The way you interpret his story is just more interesting way more explainable and deep lore than the books.
hjkjhghj for some reason tumblr didn't show me the notification for this???
anyway,, thank you sm!!! i love coming up with hcs/aus, so i really appreciate it!!
i think Buster has a hard time fitting in with other kittypets. while this is the life he wants, sometimes it's hard to beat clan conditioning. and, growing up with a much tougher life, he often feels much older than kittypets, even if they're the same age.
he thinks Fuzzball is kind of annoying, but endearing with his earnestness. he often feels jealous of his naivete. while he can never forget clan trauma (like the df battle n stuff), or the horrors of the thing, he feels like he can live a bit vicariously through the kittypets, and Fuzzball especially.
it takes awhile, and help from cats like Zelda, Loki, and Velvet (cause i hc he's close to Velvet), but Fuzzball is eventually able to get Buster to let his guard down and just play. he doesn't like roughhousing, it's too close to fighting, but bouncing around a mouse toy, tag, just rolling around and being silly, etc, are all on the menu.
when Fuzzball brings back Alderheart's half remembered message, Buster gets super paranoid and doesn't leave his house for a few days. sure he misses and loves his family, but he can't face them like this.
Zelda and Loki explain a bit of what happened to Fuzzball since he's super confused, and made him promise never to bring it up. Fuzzball tries to make subtle encouraging comments to Buster, but they're pretty overt lmao. Buster often deals with a mixture of appreciation for the support, anxiety cause he doesn't wanna remember his past, and minor annoyance about it.
in the end tho, Buster does learn to trust and enjoy the company of neighborhood cats more and more <3
