Finally scanned in my photo ops with the Legends and Kat McNamara from the Ultimates Crisis convention this last weekend. Nick and Matt shouting and calling me "Caity" all day was a particular highlight and Caity herself doing the z snap whilst screeching "YAS QUEEN!!!! SLAY THAT SUIT!!" in my face made waiting over two years to finally debut this costume totally worth it! It's a reaction I've always craved from cast but never gotten. It's probably considered quite a stuck up or self centred wish to have, but I always invalidate my costuming abilities or think I'm shit compared to others, so to have the approval from the people who work as the characters I portray or with the person who portray those characters, it gives me hope I'm not bad haha!

Welcome to By the Angel Bingo!

What is By the Angel Bingo? By the Angel Bingo is a Shadowhunters-themed event where you request a grid of prompts in the layout of a bingo board. The goal is to fill the prompts until you get a traditional bingo (filling 3 or 5 in a row, column, or diagonally) or until you blackout your entire board! 

Do I have to be a part of the Malec Discord Server to sign up? No, being a part of the Malec Discord Server Community is not required to be a part of this event, but it is highly encouraged if you’re looking for friends to bounce ideas off of, if you need help finding a beta reader, or if you’re just looking for Shadow Fam to hang out with. 

What is the schedule?

Sign-ups open: February 1st

Sign-ups close: February 29th

Last day to request prompt changes: March 31st

Masterpost due by: September 30th

How will it work? On Thursday, February 1st, sign-ups will open for a bingo card. In your sign-up, you will be asked a few questions including what size bingo card you’d like (3x3 or 5x5). You will then receive a bingo card from one of the Mods to your preferred method of contact within 3-5 days. Sign-ups will remain open until Thursday, February 29th. From there, you’ll have until Monday, September 30, to complete what you can on your bingo card! 

What if I don’t like my prompts? You may request 3 (for 3x3 cards) or 5 (for 5x5 cards) replacement prompts at one time. If you need more than 3-5 prompts replaced, you will be sent an entirely new card. This can only happen once. If you receive a new card, you can request 3-5 replacement prompts again for the last time. You can request changes to your board until March 31st, a month after sign-ups close. 

Can I sign up if I’m under 18? Yes! Anyone is able to receive a bingo card, but you must be over the age of 18 to request NSFW prompts or submit NSFW fills. You also must be over the age of 16 to join the Malec Server. 

Are there any content restrictions? This bingo is open to all creations; fic, art, gifs, videos, moodboards, playlists, cosplay, physical art, etc. All bingo fills must be Shadowhunters-related. Any ships/characters/ratings are permitted as long as they are properly tagged. RPF is not allowed for this event. 

Am I required to get a bingo or blackout my card? Not at all! You can fill as little or as many prompts as you have the time/energy to complete. This is low to no stress. Low risk, high reward. HAVE FUN. 

Can I combine prompts? Each prompt needs to be its own fill, but you can post a multi-chapter fic or art series with one prompt per chapter/piece. 

What if I black out my entire card before the final posting date? Congrats! You did it! You can either be done OR ask for a second bingo card. 

Minimum requirements: 

Fic: 500 words

Digital/physical art: 1 piece

Photomanipulation: 1 piece

Gifsets: 2 gifs

Moodboards: 4 images

Video: 30 seconds

Playlists: 10 songs 

Podfic: 500 words (with author’s permission)

Rules: 

You must be over 18 to request NSFW prompts and submit NSFW fills. You have to be over 16 to join the Malec Server. 

Any Shadowhunters-related ships/characters/ratings are permitted as long as they are tagged appropriately. 

You may create works based off of the show, books, or movies, but no RPF is allowed. 

You may request a 3x3 card (8 prompts) or a 5x5 card (24 prompts). 

You may request 3 (for 3x3) or 5 (for 5x5) replacement prompts at one time. 

If you need more than 3-5 prompts replaced, you will be sent an entirely new card.

This can only happen once. If you receive a new card, you can request 3-5 replacement prompts again for the last time. 

You can request changes to your board until March 31st, a month after sign-ups close. 

Each card has one “FREE SPACE” to be used as a wildcard where you can submit any creation that follows the rules of the event.

Each prompt needs to be its own completed fill, but you can post a multi-chapter fic or art series with one prompt per chapter/piece.

Each fill must be NEW during the bingo posting period. No past creations may be used as a fill.

Fills can be combined with other events (i.e. Femslash February, Any Fandom Bingo, Trope-specific bingos, etc.) only if the other event allows it and you meet the minimum requirements for both events.

Prompts can be interpreted as literally or figuratively as you like (I.e. A/B/O meaning a frat house, or falling to your knees in the sense of lust, despair, clumsiness, etc.) If you think it fits, it probably fits. 

All bingo fills must be added to the AO3 collection. If posted on Tumblr/Twitter, the Malec Discord Server must be tagged (@malecdiscordserver/@MalecServer).

If you are participating in this bingo, you are not allowed to shame any ships/kinks/characters/content of any kind created by other participants. Failure to follow this rule may lead to a lifetime ban of Malec Discord Server-run events. We’re in this for a good time, not a dramatic time.

Ngl I think TWP would be hilarious as simply a social media au—kinda SOBH Style

Somethings it would include:

- Kit tweeting publicly about his angsty feelings for Ty (convinced he’s safe bc Ty would never be on twitter)

- Dru and Kit have a snap streak through which we see snapshots of there povs

- Dru teaches Ty about Tumblr where he has a blog about the cases he’s investigating (he uses fake names—but shadowhunters would never see it so he’s safe) and Ty gets a ton of ppl following his blog for updates

- Dru has an insta where she does outfit of the day and has a run down of the day (but she has a pic from the beginning and end of the day—sometimes it’s the same but sometimes it’s rly messed up from demon fights or messy and people are invested in her stories in the comments)

For ex: Dru somehow has service in faerie; beginning of the day: fishnets and horror t under corderoy overall shorts. End of the Day: a full whimsical faerie dress (today was a long day guys)

The only person Dru follows is Isabelle Lightwood (who she bonds with over fashion and teaches millenial Izzy about insta)

- Blackthorn Family Gc (there’s a lot of convos between Helen+Aline, Dru+Emma, Dru+Tavvy (he has a mini ipad) etc that Julian’s like “does this have to be in the main family gc?!” “YES”)

- Kit’s youtube channel— Kit interviews “my 150 yr old parents* about historical events they’ve lived through asking the *important questions* ppl just think they’re phd historians with SUPER niche interests

- Thais loves photography and takes cool pictures of a lot of shadowhunter things and nature for her insta and for Dru’s as well ofc

- thais and jaime rivalry on twitter— no matter what the other says they will disagree (kinda jace simon dynamic)

- Ash is a gamer (he’s done all the games in thule lmao) and he does streams—ppl think his commitment to faerie cosplay is cute

- Anush helps Ty with his blog, but he’s also on Snapchat where he has Dru and so we get insight to the scholomance and Ty in the background of a lot or snaps

- sidenote: Izzy is also obsessed with making pinterest boards for her and simons wedding (I like to think that sizzy has a hybrid themed-jewish-shadowhunter wedding bc they can make it however they want)

Favourite holiday? … May Half Term? It’s generally nice and sunny without being crazy hot yet. It’s shearing time, which is mad, but fun. There’s generally baby animals about and flowers are in bloom. What’s not to like?

Something on your bucket list: Bungee Jumping.

You’re invited to a costume party, what are you dressing up as? What aren’t I dressing up as?? I’ve got two large under the bed drawers. One is dedicated to art & craft supplies, the other one is costumes.

Arthur Pendragon is always fun (horse sold separately). Jessie from Toy Story is the CUTEST (though I’d have to get new doll contact lenses).

And then there was the year Ruth and I went to NY Comic Con with 3 matching cosplays from 3 different shows.

Spike & Willow (Buffy), Eleanor Guthrie & Anne Bonny (Black Sails), and Jace & Clary (Shadowhunters). That was good fun!

What show takes up the most space in your brain? Right now it’s counting down the days until I can watch Season 2 of The Bear!!! 😬😬

And finally, share something you’re looking forward to: Going to Cape Cod in September. I’ve not been able to go since before the pandemic and I miss it! Also Ruth and I are planning another recording junket up North, that’s always fun. And then end of this year or early next year Ruth and I are going to (hopefully) see the Northern Lights. So lots to look forward to <3

Currently watching: Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Been doing reruns of the show for a minute now and by the show I mean just episode 5, I love Wallace. I want to commit tax fraud with him.

Also still clawing my way through shadowhunters. That show is show stressful for me, I gotta watch it like 2 minutes at a time. My tolerance for conflict and drama in my media is about how a slug can handle salt. I love silly vampire man though so I will make for him

If we mean this literally, as I type this, I’m watching a man try to increase the flammability of a mcnugget using chemistry in some seedy shed.

Last movie/tv show: last shows, see above, but as for my last movie it was a rewatch of Asteroid City!!!! Wes Anderson is my favorite genre of movie

Spicy/savory/sweet: the only thing I love more than drowning myself in custards and honey is chowing down on chilis and staring at myself in the mirror as I watch my face melt off. Even when my sweet tooth takes over I prefer spice to be involved. Actively working towards my local pizzeria’s habanero pizza challenge where you have to sign a waiver before eating the pizza

Relationship status: Single and fine with it! I gotta focus on myself first yknow (becoming public enemy number one and taking over the city with my army of geese. That’s only half a joke, you get to decide which half I mean)

Current obsession: Scotty P 😔 they shouldn’t have made such a magnificent triumph of a show and reminded me of that know nothing and his cohorts. I thought I was leaving him behind in middle school days. Hello! Again, really glad you're back we missed you but thankfully you feel better and that's all that matters. The party on Saturday was really fun and then really embarrassing so I've been trying to erase some parts from my memory😅 (I really need supervision when I drink). Anyways, here's a bunch of theories and little things I can't stop thinking about and I wanted to share. Here's a new list!

Theory: Lucifer will change a canon event and for some reason I think one of them will be Asmodeus dying

The reson Bella ran away from Kincaid is because she felt Arthur, who maybe has magic powers over animals like snow white or something and that's why he loves animals so much (a little ridiculous but then I imagined him cosplaying as Snow White and he would be so cutee😍)

One of the indirect consequences of Other Max is that Max starts trying to time travel and getting obsessed with warlock math earlier?

Theory: Okay not much of a theory but I'm pretty sure everyone will find out about Other Max for sure- and what a clustefuck that could be

Theory:Lucifer did all those things before in Other Max's timeline (like help Kincaid get born and save Selena) and now Other Max is trying to make these canon events happen without his help

Is Lucifer only one or does multiple versions of him exist like there are David and Other David and how does he work in the time travel concept

Why did Other Max visit David when Max wasn't there?

Theory: Other Max doesn't talk to Max because he misses himself and the way he was when he was with David like he told David in IALS

Who stopped David from leaving Max in Other Max's timeline? Did someone stop him? Or did Max run around trying to find him in the mundane world?

If there was no Other Max in Other Max's timeline, how did they explain the demon attacks?

I think that everything is the same in both timeliness up until Max meets Mallory and David takes over the institute, that's when Other Max started visiting their reality and when the two timelines started to get different, right? Or where there differences from before that?

Okay this one hurts to think about, it's more like an observation, but remember how Rafael used to tease Mavid when they were little and were very in love but pretended not to be? That should have been Lance with Arthur and Kincaid. But it's not. And wow that kinda hurts a lot so I'll leave it to that.

Okay, I'll just say it, the shadowhunters are in the wrong and Lexi is in the wrong period. And it's not just because it's Lance and we love Lance. No matter who it was, it's a kid, their nephew for the love of God. Are you telling me that Lexi will fight Max? Or David? Because that's really really fucked up. I'm with the sealies on this one, sorry not sorry

Max doesn't talk to Rafael after finding out about the wards, yeah I'm okay, definitely not crying over that in the bathroom

Lexi being jelous of Madeleine kinda warms my heart because I really love siblings and their dynamics and that's why the Rafe/Max drama hurts like hell and I need more Lexi/David content and honestly I need Lexi to be like "I prefer to let Idris get destroyed than to hurt Lance and fight against David and Max" and that's probably not gonna happen but here's to hopeless dreaming

The demons are waiting for Lance oh why do I get the feeling that that's not going to end well?

Okay, super important question. What's Leviathan's relationship with Other Max? I recall him telling Max once that their relationship doesn't start for a very long time and now I'm scared. Is Leviathan only one or are they two like we have two Maxs?

Oh, Vicky. Thank you so much for this. I had a rather difficult day (my physio said the recovery time for my injury is 2-4 weeks and I'm having a hard time accepting that because I don't like being ill sigh). But in good news, this means I won't go out of the house (because my lower mobility is restricted) so no physical meetings or events for October yaaaaaay.

This is a very good question (might get spoiler-y here). I consider Lucifer - and all angels and princes of hell and god(???) - to be omnipotent creatures who exist beyond time. This is why someone mentions Asmodeus (or Belial) isn't 'dead dead'. He can't be dead - like any demon. He is simply in the pandemonium and will return in like 5000 years or something. This is also why Leviathan knew about Other Max before Other Max came to the second timeline. Because he knows what happened in the previous timeline. So, there isn't an Other Lucifer or Other Leviathan or Other Raziel. They exist in their own dimension that isn't affected by time and space and reality. BUT (This is where we get spoilery) - not all angels and demons are aware of every dimension and what's going on. That's too much knowledge. No one is aware of what's happening in every single timeline - except for Lucifer. It's his 'superpower' of sorts. He can see everything (this is what i explored in FMF with the whole camera thingy). This is also why Nico can see the future (because it's a power he inherited from Lucifer. Okay. Enough for now.

I didn't get this question. You mean why was he 'stalking' David? Because he wanted to...see David? Other Max's visits to david have nothing to do with Max. He's just there to see and help David That's all. Unless I misunderstood the question.

I think that's right. The differences only start when Other Max starts visiting - and that changes the two timelines completely (as evidenced by the response question 10)

Only one Leviathan like I said. What Leviathan was referring to is actually the present timeline and the clusterfuck waiting to happen. There is a scene with Leviathan and David in LBAF 4 that gives a lot of context:

“Why are you helping me?” David asked, feeling suddenly nervous. “What do you want?”

“I want you to do what you were born to do,” Leviathan whispered.

“Destroy the nephilim?” David swallowed.

“Love Max,” Leviathan replied. “The rest will fall into place.”

What Leviathan wants, more than anything, is chaos. Literally. And Other Max is doing just that. He is fucking up the timeline supremely and it's just going to get worse and worse. And all for David oof. Leviathan knows that and he is enjoying that. He sees Other Max as a weapon of (self-)destruction of sorts. But. I gotta say he is secretly scared of Other Max because we know he is unhinged.
