so I've always thought it's weird that anakin wanted so much to be on the council bc nothing we see them do (i.e. sitting around talking, standing around talking, judging, bureaucrating, etc, idek) makes sense for anakin the character. the rots novel tried to make it make sense by suggesting that he only ever wanted it to access the archive's forbidden section for ways to save padme. which like, okay, but surely he's got to have better reasons than wanting a library pass. then it occurred to me that maybe it's about wanting to be obi-wan's equal, which is still dumb, but I can actually kinda see him convincing himself that it's the only & final way to prove himself to his old master.
