I keep thinking about that conversation Jom and Yai had in bed, when Yai said something so important:

But what I know right now is that you’re my love and all I can do is be with you in a time like this. I will never let you worry all alone.

It’s important because this is exactly what Jom didn’t have in his relationship with Ohm and what caused him so much pain. He didn’t have someone this loyal and steadfast who would hold him through the night.

He didn’t have someone who would try so earnestly to help him even when he doesn’t really understand.

He didn’t have someone who would keep his eyes on him only and cherish every moment together.

He didn’t have someone who would stay near him to share his pain even if he couldn’t find a way to fix it.

He didn’t have someone who was so devoted to taking care of him and returning his affection.

He didn’t have someone who would make him feel more loved and secure than he could have imagined.

Jom arrived to the past broken, barely clinging to his will to live, and Yai and the community he found there gave him purpose again and helped to heal him. Even if he can’t stay, even if he never finds a way back to Yai, Jom will take that with him wherever he goes.

am just wondering if there’s a reason to manoeuvre the characters into he cheng’s home? like for the story logically if we think about it what could bringing them here open up as possibilities to further the story?

i’d be really interested to see conversations between he tian and he cheng or mo guan shan? maybe something will be said?! i was just thinking OX usually has this way of leading us to important things through funny episodes lol. i just wouldn’t be surprised if something happened there? am i right in thinking that he tian usually is very difficult to get to go see his brother or is it more his father he’s reluctant to go to?

Some tianshan scenarios that I can't get out of my head:

I want he tian to call mo pretty or beautiful, even if it's internally, like imagine tianshan on a beach date and it's sunset, then sun's golden/orange rays shine through mo's features and make his Hazel eyes and red hair look bright and shiny, and then on that moment he tian realizes that just how beautiful mo guan shan is.

Imagine tianshan slow dancing at he tian's apartment and he tian is surprised that mo is good at dancing, and mo tells him that as a kid, he used to dance with his mother alot. And sometimes he tian looks at mo's eyes with a look that is full of love and adoration which makes mo blush and look away cuas he can't look into he tian's eyes for too long, and when music ends he tian places his hand on mo's cheek to lift his head up and kissing him softly.

Or imagine mo standing on his tiptoes to kiss he tian 😭 and with his both hands resting on he tian's nape to get him a little closer but he still has to stand on his tiptoes cuas he tian Is just too tall😭 and when they separate mo is looking at him with an annoyed but flushed face and tells him "you're too tall, it's annoying" which earns a laugh with fondness from he tian.

Last year's Christmas special wasn't a direct continuation of them in that room (witch was a bit disappointing) but do you guys ever think about the fact that from here on out we'll see Mo wearing their "wedding" ring in all of their future updates?

We'll get to see Mo wearing He Tian's ring in this year's Christmas update, living a married life.

Not to make myself cry or anything but the parallels between tianshan and jian yi's parents are interesting, especially since he tian was able to come back and actually put a ring on mo's finger in a form of resolution that jian yi's mom never gets. I would bet that in the moment of he tian's actual departure, he will ask mo to make a similar promise to the one that jian yi's dad asked of jian yi's mom.

WHICH, considering that the He and Jian families seem to be in similar activities and dangerous work, and considering that jian yi may potentially tell zhan zheng xi about his parent's past, and that zzx and mo will hang out in the years after both he tian and jian yi's disappearance-- maybe mo will find out about jian yi's parents tragic history from zzx or even from jian yi/someone else? He might see the similarities in his own experiences, and by the time he tian comes back, had already resigned himself to never seeing he tian again?

Objectively speaking and forgetting for a moment the purpose of the manga or its shonen category, the UA kids and the villains shouldn't be the ones fixing society.

The first group because they are only teenagers and the second because they are too traumatized, too blind in their convictions to do what it needs to be done without getting sidetracked.

I guess what I'm saying is that you shouldn't be demanding some of the most vulnerable groups in society to be the one to fix your stuff. If you're expecting traumatized victims turned criminals to be the rational ones, or if you push traumatized teenagers to be adults already so you can pass on the burden and stand on the sideline...

It reflects real life, you know.

The victims are always asked to be the ones doing the "right thing" when forgiving their abusers and moving on as if nothing happened. This works for the villains but also all the people the villains hurt. To pretend the cycle of violence never existed and it never affected the people around you is... Kinda as stupid as what the hero society was already doing, trying to bury what was uncomfortable in order to leave in ignorant peace. Not good.

I guess what I'm saying is that, if you want to judge bnha with realism and ignore the theme of the manga itself, the major critics should go to the adult heroes who didn't do their job and the institutions that corrupted the system.

It's more about judging the decisions of the hero commission and trying to understand how some pro-heroes could get lost on the rules and social convictions. Where was the failure? Was it like Aizawa said that they went lazy and stopped looking? Stopped trying to go plus ultra and started feeling to comfortable in their place?

My random pet peeve is romances being described as friends to lovers when it’s clear at least one of the pair were attracted/had feelings from the start. Even if it takes awhile for them to get together, if there was a romantic intention all along that’s not FTL it’s just a natural relationship progression.

When you tell me it’s FTL I want to see two people who genuinely think of each other platonically experience their feelings changing, probably not at the same time, and work through the fear of doing anything about it lest the friendship is destroyed. Give me prolonged mutual pining because they’re both terrified to say something. Give me one dealing with unrequited feelings because they changed first, then the other eventually catching up. Give me one rejecting the other due to fear even though they feel it too. Give me the slow realization that the friendship is already irreparably changed and there’s nothing left to do but take the risk.

I think FTL is often thought of as kind of a light and sweet trope, but if done right it’s actually quite angsty! Because in order for it to be true FTL there has to be a strong foundational relationship that they are genuinely terrified to risk losing for a shot at romance.
