The Compass- Part 2
Tumblr media
Summary: Shang-Chi is given a gift in Ta Lo, a compass that points to his soulmate. He's not sure he wants to find them, until it points to the historian sorcerer sent to help him figure out the Ten Rings by Wong. Can Shang-Chi figure out what to do with this compass? With his supposed soulmate?
Pairing: Shang-Chi x Female!Sorcerer!Reader
Words: 1812
Warnings: flirting, nerves, first date, fluff
This is Part 2 of my June story for my Year of Creation: Soulmates! This challenge is being run by @yearofcreation2023, and you can find my masterlist for this challenge here!
Feedback fuels me!
Tumblr media
“Wait, so Y/N is your soul mate?”
“Yes.”
“Y/N the sorcerer.”
“Yes.”
“The one who’s been working with us for over a month already?”
Shang-Chi sighed. “Yes.”
“And…why are you only telling me about this now?!”
“Listen, a lot’s been going on, okay?”
Katy leaned back in her chair, glaring at him. Today was the first true day without the sorcerer, as she was back with Wong taking care of a slight emergency. Shang-Chi trusted Y/N, more and more with every passing day. She was learning more about the rings and the magic in them, and was teaching him more about the magic in the rings and how to control them, and use them.
She was clearly here to help them, and while he would never admit it out loud, he was starting to like her, more than a coworker or friend. Y/N was sweet, quiet, and kind. She listened to him intently, was willing to give new things a try, and was patient with him during this all. He liked her laugh and smile, even if it was hard to get both.
But Katy didn’t need to know all that. Yet.
“So, are you going to tell her?”
He sputtered, shaking his head. “What? No!”
“Why not?!”
“Am I supposed to just say ‘Hey, we’re soulmates because of this compass, wanna go to dinner?’ That’s ridiculous!”
“Are you saying there’s another way?”
“...yes,” he muttered, shifting in his chair.
“....aaannnddd that is?”
Shang-Chi sighed. “The old-fashioned way? Asking her to dinner, actually dating her?”
“Oh shit, you’re serious about this.”
“Shouldn’t I be?”
Katy leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table. “...you like her, don’t you? This isn’t about the soul mate thing.”
“I mean…that started it all,” he muttered. “And I know the idea of soul mates to you and other people is weird, but…it feels different. When she’s around I can’t help but want to look at her, want to be beside her. I want to see her smile, I want to know what her dreams are, what makes her happy.”
“...okay, I get it,” his friend muttered, nodding. “So what do we do?”
“We do nothing. I…figure out how to ask her to dinner.”
Tumblr media
Wong glanced at you, shutting the book. “You’re distracted.”
You groaned. “I apologize. I swear I am trying to work and focus.”
He turned to fully face you, waving his hand. “What is it?”
Gnawing at your lip. “...Shang-Chi.”
Your superior’s eyebrows shot up. “Is something wrong?”
“Very much the opposite,” you confessed. “Working with him on the rings has been….the easiest thing I have worked on in years.”
“Oh.” Wong looked surprised and then confused. “Why is this distracting you?”
You struggled for a moment to figure out how to explain how you were feeling. “Do you remember how it felt when your artifact chose you? How it feels to use it?”
He nodded slowly. “Like it is correct.”
“Exactly,” you agreed, thinking of your own artifact. “It flows, it comes easily. Well…it feels that exact way with Shang-Chi.”
Wong paused, before moving through the shelves, coming back to you with a book in hand. “We don’t have much on the subject, but it is not unknown in magic…”
“What isn’t unknown?”
“The idea of soulmates,” he stated, flipping through the book. He glanced at you, giving you one of the rare smiles he was known for. “You can choose whether or not to believe any of this. But whatever happens from here is your choice, especially with him. Even if soulmates are real, you and he are people, and have free will. Whatever comes will take work.”
You nodded slowly, smiling. “Thank you, Wong.”
Tumblr media
You glanced up at Shang-Chi, smiling softly. He smiled back, and you swore under the lights of the restaurant he was blushing slightly. “Can I…admit something?” you asked.
“Of course,” he said, setting his fork down.
“I…” You felt your own cheeks warm, and tried to push it down. “I was really happy when you asked me out to dinner.”
His eyebrows shot up. “R-really?”
You nodded, glancing down at your plate. “I…I really hope this won’t scare you off or sound weird, but I prefer to be honest.”
He reached over the table and took your hand, just his touch calming your racing heart. “Honesty is important. I promise not to run.”
You giggled softly. “Okay. Um…ever since I met you I’ve been drawn to you,” you admitted. “I don’t know why, I can’t explain it, all I know is that I like being with you, and…I want to continue to.”
Shang-Chi stayed quiet for a moment, before squeezing your hand. “I…have something to admit too,” he muttered.
“I promise not to run,” you repeated, smiling at him.
He smiled back, using his free hand to pull something out of his pocket. “In Ta Lo, this was given to me. It’s an ancient tradition, and…well…” He opened the circular case, to reveal a compass. You furrowed your eyebrows but stayed quiet. “It doesn't point north. It um…it points to my soul mate.”
You felt your breath freeze at his words, and you met his eyes.
“...it’s pointed to you since I met you,” he said. You could see the fear in his eyes, the clear worry that you’ll deny him, say he’s crazy.
You smiled, breathing in relief, squeezing his hand. “...Guess that means you’re stuck with me then, huh?” you whispered.
Shang-Chi chuckled, leaning over the table and cupping your cheek. “I think it’s the other way around.”
He leaned down slowly, kissing you gently, and yet in a way that feels entirely right.
Tumblr media
You turned the compass in your hand, studying every centimeter of it. “It’s beautiful,” you muttered.
“I…suppose,” Shang-Chi agreed, his eyes locked onto you.
It had been three weeks since the first date, and while you knew to anyone else it would seem strange, but you two had only grown closer, and it all felt right. There was no other word for it, really. You two had grown closer, worked well together, and it all felt like it was supposed to be this way.
“But really! The dragon scales are gorgeous, and the craftsmanship is just-”
He chuckled. “If you’re just going to admire the beauty, then I can take it back, I guess.”
“No!” you cried, flicking open the lid. True to what he had explained, the arrow wasn't pointing north (which was technically behind you). Instead, it pointed right to Shang-Chi.
You stood from beside him, moving around the room, your gaze locked on the compass as the arrow stayed locked on him, not moving from his figure.
Looking up, you met his eyes, blushing as you saw him smiling, watching you. “What?”
“Nothing,” he said, shaking his head.
“No, that look is not nothing,” you stated, moving back to the couch. You sat beside him, giggling as he dragged your legs over his lap. “Tell me.”
Shang-Chi took your hand, intertwining your fingers with his. “...just your expression,” he muttered. “The awe.”
“Well the awe is partially because of you,” you muttered, squeezing your hand. “That this is all real.”
“Very real,” he agreed, leaning in and kissing you gently.
Tumblr media
Katy and Wong watched the couple, Katy glancing at the sorcerer beside her. “So…what do you think of all this?”
“Them? Or the idea of soul mates?” he replied, sipping his drink.
“...both?” Katy replied, shrugging.
Wong chuckled, not surprised at the girl. She was smart, that was clear, but the poor girl still had a lot to learn about life and the world, love included.
“The idea of soul mates isn’t new. It’s existed for centuries. The basic idea isn’t just that two people will love each other, it’s that they’ll be perfect for each other, in every aspect of their lives,” he explained. “I think that’s the case with them.”
Their eyes slid to the couple in question, who were bringing the drinks over, moving in synch, working together.
“...yeah,” Katy whispered. “That sounds about right.”
Tumblr media
-1 year later-
You kept your eyes locked with Shang-Chi’s, a soft smile on your face. It felt unreal to be standing in Ta Lo, wearing the traditional garments of this ceremony, in the middle of the said ceremony, with the eyes of the village and your chosen loved ones watching.
The ceremony was, while similar in looks to a marriage ceremony, the binding of soulmates for the people of Ta Lo. It was a rare ceremony to be held, and was special for the people, so great care was being taken.
Nan, the elder of the village, smiled at you both. “Do we have the compass?”
“We do,” Shang-Chi replied, holding out said compass.
“Good.” She stepped close to you both, resting a hand on your arm and a hand on his. “In the name of our ancestors and the Great Protector, we come here to unite these two together as soul mates and loved ones. Shang-Chi, take the compass, gaze upon the arrow.”
He opened the case, gazing down. His eyes followed the arrow, rising to you, making your smile grow. Nan looked down at the compass but did not touch, confirming that it pointed to you. She nodded, looking at you. “Y/N, take the compass, gaze upon the arrow.”
Shang-Chi slid the compass into your palm, and you oriented it properly, letting your eyes fall to the face of the compass. You weren’t surprised to see the arrow turn to him, like it always did, Nan seeing it with you.
She nodded, letting her hands fall from you both. “The compass points to them both,” she called to those watching. Everyone cheered, making your smile grow and your soul mate laugh softly.
“Both of you, take the compass,” she said. Shang-Chi intertwined his hands with your own, cupping the compass. The arrow started to waver, spinning and moving between you and him, both of you looking at the other. “The Universe and the Great Protector have chosen these two for each other,” the elder continued. “May their life be filled with love, joy, and peace!”
Everyone cheered again as Shang-Chi leaned in, kissing you gently. It was short, sweet, but held so much love and adoration, things you had come to recognize easily.
As they all calmed, you both spoke together. “We thank this compass, our ancestors, and the Great Protector for bringing us together. We bless this compass, and pray that the next to receive it finds their soul mate, and may find love and happiness that we have.”
Nan closed the lid of the compass, taking it from you both, tears welling in her eyes. She nodded in thanks, leaving you both to turn to those watching. You two had found each other, despite all odds, and…you couldn’t feel luckier.

Call Me Lover
Pairings: Xu Shang Chi x fem!Reader; Unspecified Male Avenger x Reader
Summary: Shang Chi is in love with his best friend but she is with someone else. He’s unsure if he’ll be able to keep a handle on his feelings for much longer. Based on Call Me Lover by Sam Fender.
A/N: Tried to be as vague as possible when describing the boyfriend so you can imagine one of your other Avenger faves. Please let me know who you pictured! I get curious about these things lol.
Tumblr media
You know I'll be down here waiting
I'll take you to see your man
A shiver sent its way down your spine as you and your best friend, Shang Chi left the movie theatre. He could see the goosebumps on your arms from the cool evening air and instinctively offered his jacket. You gladly accepted, putting the jacket on over your shoulders and inhaling the gorgeous scent of his cologne. He sighed contentedly at the sight you wearing his clothes and fell even harder for you.
It was a late night trip to see some forgettable movie. Your boyfriend was coming home from a mission that night and time had almost stopped completely as you had waited for him all afternoon. So you called up your best distraction, Shang-Chi with a request that you do absolutely anything to stop you from clock watching.
As soon as your name lit up on his phone, it didn’t matter what you were about to ask. Shang Chi was there. He was completely, hopelessly and desperately in love with you.
“It won’t be long now until he’s back!” You said excitedly, checking your phone.
Shang Chi’s heart had been fluttering all night in your presence but now it seemed to sink to the pit of his stomach with the mere mention of him. The man who had stole you away from him, the man you loved and the man who was a living, breathing reminder that you belonged to someone else.
“Yep.” Shang Chi shortly replied, popping the ‘P’. “Do you want me to drop you off at the compound?”
“Yes please.”
When you are done, we'll go driving
Catch the coast in the evening light
Shang Chi’s chest tightened as you hummed along to a sweet song on the drive there. Your leg bounced up and down excitedly in anticipation. Your boyfriend had been on this mission for two weeks but it had felt like an eternity waiting for him to come back. He would send sporadic updates that you tried your best not to sit around waiting for. Still, every time your phone made a sound, you had desperately grabbed for it in hopes it was him.
You’d passed the time with your best friend, seeing him almost everyday. Shang Chi obliged of course, he would do anything for you. Anything to have you all to himself without any distractions.
It was getting harder and harder for him to act natural around you. A few nights previous he’d driven you along the coastline before stopping to watch the sunset on the beach. Whilst you had fallen in love with the serene pink sky, he was staring at you and feeling his heart beat so hard it was fighting its way out of his chest. Now a pink sky reminded him of you and a moment that he’d reserve in a special place in his heart forever.
“I don’t know why, he’s literally my boyfriend but I’m very… nervous I guess? Just so excited to see him.” You babbled on to Shang Chi who concentrated all of his anguish into gripping the steering wheel with great force.
“I’m sure he’ll have missed you.” Shang Chi offered in response. It was all he could think of to say that would help him stay in character of the role he played of being the supportive friend. He knew if he had to go two weeks without seeing you that he would have been driven insane.
“Yeah well, I really missed him too. The bed is too cold without him.” You smiled at the thought of being engulfed in the arms of your love later while Shang Chi swallowed thickly. He would have been more than happy to keep you warm and safe at night.
Upon arrival at the compound, you realised you were still wearing Shang Chi’s jacket. It was like a continuous warm hug from your best friend, which you relished in due to the unforgiving chill in the air. However, it didn’t seem very appropriate to be wearing another man’s jacket to greet your boyfriend after two weeks apart, so you took it off.
“Here, honey,” you handed Shang Chi’s jacket back to him. “Thanks for letting me wear it, you always look out for me.”
“Always will.” Shang Chi mumbled in response, taking his jacket back. Fresh wounds opened up seeing you take his jacket off for his benefit. It made your best friend feel like you were discarding him in favour of your boyfriend.
When the plane landed and your boyfriend emerged, unscathed and forming a cheesy smile at the sight of you (which Shang Chi could only describe as insufferable) you ran up to him and threw your arms around his neck desperately. You didn’t leave an inch on his face un-kissed and he had wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you as close to him as possible.
“Hey, beautiful.” He chuckled, rubbing your back soothingly with his hand.
“Hey, lover.” You said teasingly in between kisses, an inside joke between you both.
I love it when you call me, "Lover"
Ooh, lover
Hearing you call someone else “lover” was an assault on Shang Chi’s emotional state. It was agonising, like he was trapped in Room 101 and his personal torturer had selected this specifically knowing how much it was going to hurt.
Shang Chi had often slipped into a daydream where he imagined a world where you were his. You’d give him the beautiful doe eyes that you had reserved for your boyfriend. You’d hold on to his arm and kiss his cheek while you walked through the farmers market. The two of you would see old couples and lament on how that’s definitely going to be you when you’re older. Most importantly, you’d call him “lover”.
In his head, you would do all the things for him that he’s seen you do for your boyfriend. When Shang Chi wasn’t there, you’d talk about him to your friends with the same glee and cheesy grin with which you talk about your real lover.
Sometimes when you were together and you’d accidentally brush his arm or you hugged him or called him a cute pet name like “honey” or “sweetie”, it would send him into that utopia in his mind where you were his. A little grin would emerge on his face as he pictured a cute scenario of you both together until you would snap him out of it, laughing at how distracted and dazed he could be. The embarrassment would send sharp pains in his chest and stomach, being almost sure that you could see inside his brain and he had been exposed.
He even dreamed about you when he fell asleep at night and would wake up clutching his pillow so tight his fingers hurt. Then, he’d let out some soft cries into the pillow, wishing it was you he was holding on to instead.
Then he’d think about while he was desperate and crying for you, you were probably in the arms of your boyfriend and sleeping softly, without so much as a thought for Shang Chi.
She gives me those eyes when her man's in plain sight
Or am I just mistaken?
You appreciated the moment of having your boyfriend back in your arms, rubbing your thumb along his cheekbone and giving him gentle kisses as he told you just how much he’d missed you. After a while you took his hand and wandered back over to Shang Chi who stood awkwardly, as if waiting to be dismissed by you.
“Thanks for driving my girl up here, man. It’s a long drive back to the city, you’re more than welcome to stay here for the night.” Your boyfriend smiled at Shang Chi and gave him what was intended to be a friendly pat on the shoulder. Shang Chi frowned at the sight of that man’s hands on him and interpreted the act as being patronising. He was sure that your boyfriend knew just how helplessly in love with you that he was. Being with you was him stabbing Shang Chi in the side. Offering him a place to stay the night where there was a chance he’d hear your reunion sex was the knife being twisted.
But it was you that struck the most painful blow. You looked up at him through your lashes with those gorgeous doe eyes that Shang Chi had thought he’d never be on the receiving end of. You raised your eyebrow in anticipation of his response with a soft and inviting smile. You wanted him to stay.
Shang Chi stared at you in disbelief. You were clinging on to your boyfriend’s arm who you hadn’t stopped talking about all night but were giving him those eyes that he’d dreamed about. He cursed himself for having been so desperate to see them because now he had and he wasn’t allowed to reach forward and kiss you. It was his breaking point.
Enough was enough. He knew he had to start the process of self preservation before his heart broke completely.
“No thanks, I’m gonna head home.” Shang Chi replied grumpily and pushed past your boyfriend. It made you scowl, your best friend was never usually abrupt or rude like that. He was outgoing and gentle and cheerful. It set off alarm bells in your head as you followed him with your eyes.
“Well that was just plain weird.” Your boyfriend smirked. When he looked at your expression he could see just how shocked and stung you were at your best friend’s actions. You couldn’t offer an explanation or even an excuse for him and it bothered you. There was something clearly wrong and you hated the idea of being kept in the dark about it.
“I think I’m gonna go check on him. I won’t be long, baby.” You decided and kissed his cheek. He nodded in response and headed into the compound to relax and wait patiently for you to return and take your rightful place in his arms. You turned on your heel and set off after your best friend.
We will break under circumstance in the heat of it all
Can you take all the pressure that is left behind?
Shang Chi mentally berated himself on the way back to the car for having been so rude. He didn’t want to be and it honestly didn’t sit right with him, even if he did find your boyfriend extremely annoying. He had been kicked into touch and survival mode from all of those years of assassin training had taken over. Instincts were telling him he needed to get as far away from you as possible.
Unfortunately, you weren’t letting him get away so easily.
“Wait up! You’re not going anywhere until you explain what that was back there!” You shouted after him as you desperately tried to keep up with him. He took long and efficient strides forwards, knowing that if he could just get to the car, he could drive away and cry his eyes out in the safety of his own company.
“It’s nothing. Go back and see your man. He’s missed you.” He responded.
You managed to catch up and grabbed his arm, moving him to face you. You observed his agonised expression and the tears forming in his eyes, which worried you even more.
“Not until I know you’re okay.” You asserted. “I know you, remember? And I know that something has upset you. So, spill.”
Shang Chi hated to admit it but you were right. He couldn’t just change his behaviour and expect it to go unnoticed by you. You did know him, probably better than anyone - even more than Katy. It was futile trying to hide this from you anymore. It was time to be honest.
“I can’t do this anymore.” He sighed, looking down to avoid your gaze.
“Do what?”
“This. Me and you. I fucking… I love you okay? I love you. And seeing you with him, it really fucks me up because I wish it was me. I know this makes me such a shitty person because you have a boyfriend but I can’t do this anymore. I love you.”
The admission was a cathartic cocktail of painful yet relieved emotions. Finally, you knew and he didn’t have the burden of carrying around this heavy secret anymore. On the other hand, it risked losing you forever.
The confession of love had stunned you into silence. You desperately tried to achieve eye contact with him in search of a sign that he might be joking. You had no such luck; all you could find in his eyes was torment and hurt. He loved you.
“Sweetie, I don’t know what to say…” You began but were unable to finish. You put your brain to work to formulate a thoughtful response but no inspiration took hold. There was no way to make him feel better about this. You couldn’t make him promises or give him the romance movie moment of throwing caution to the wind and pulling him by his jacket for a deep kiss. You already belonged to someone else.
“It’s okay,” Shang Chi said, breaking the awkward silence. “We can talk about it another time but I need to get outta here.”
With that he kissed your forehead lightly and lingered for a second to savour the moment. Slowly, he leaned back and got into his car and took off. You were left standing there, feeling like you had been suffocated. You inhaled a few greedy gulps of air in an attempt to steady yourself and wondered how you would explain what had just happened to your boyfriend. Your brain was on standby as you stood rooted to your spot, trying to process what had just happened.
In the car, Shang Chi fought back furiously at the tears threatening to spill from his eyes. He tried to stifle the lump that was achingly stuck in his throat with the anxiety that he might have just destroyed your friendship. You were the most important person in his life and he had potentially just thrown all of that away. To put it bluntly: it hurt.
He found himself sink back into that unhealthy tendency of daydreaming about you again to avoid facing the severity of the situation at hand. Suddenly, his mind started to ease and his body relaxed.
He walked into his apartment on a bright Saturday morning. The light streamed in from the window to accentuate your beautiful frame as you lay in his bed waiting for him. Shang Chi set down the coffee and bagels he bought the two of you for breakfast and hovered over you to give you a deep and loving kiss.
“Hey, baby.” He smiled against your mouth before you pulled him down on to the bed with you.
“Hey, lover.”
I love it when you call me, "Lover"
Ooh, lover

Tumblr media
It’s moments like these that you cherish the most. The pitter patter of the rain hits the window. Thunder booming every five minutes or so. I lay in his arms, playing with the necklace that I got him. I put my initial on it and gave it to him as a gag gift, but now he never takes it off. I play with it while listening to his breathing. It’s soft and steady, indicating he’s still fast asleep.
I slowly lift myself out of his embrace and walk to the dresser next to my bed that holds my record player. He actually made me a vinyl for our two-year anniversary that has all my favorite old school songs on it. I put it on, but skip to my favorite song and let it lowly play in the background while I lay back in his arms.
I look up at his face and see his eyes still closed, so I admire him for a bit. He has like no blemishes. It’s amazing. I trace my finger from the mole that’s by his eye and down his nose. I hear his breathing change signaling that he’s awake, but he keeps his eyes closed.
“I love you so much,” I begin to say, “I never knew what love was until I met you and I didn’t realize how much I loved you until I fought beside you in Ta Lo.”
I hold his cheek in my hand while softly rubbing his bottom lip with my thumb.
“And I’d love you even more if you stopped pretending to be asleep.” I say with a smile.
He smiles back and lovingly opens his eyes. He grabs my hand and moves it down to his heart, laying his on top of mine.
“How did you know?” He asks me.
“I notice everything about you, my love. How your face lights up when you talk to Waipo, you do a little dance when you eat something good,” the last part he laughs at, “and the way your face scrunches up when you’re mad.”
He moves to wrap his arms around me and pull me closer.
“Ew, gross. Get off of me. It’s too hot to be this close.” I say while playfully trying to push him away and laughing.
“That’s not what you were saying last night.” He responds with the smuggest look on his face.
I roll my eyes and then proceed to remove myself from his grip. The soft cotton sheets falls off of my body and I feel the cool air once again collide with my skin. I stretch my arms above my head and I hear Shang-Chi let out a groan that goes straight to my pussy.
I walk over to his side of the bed and look out the window, watching the raindrops flow down the window. A lot of people don’t tend to like the rain. “Too gloomy” people say. I love the rain. Especially when there’s thunder. It gives me comfort. I even convinced Shang-Chi to appreciate the rain.
I hear the mattress make a groaning/squeaking noise has he stands up with me. His arms embrace me, bring me warmth.
“Come back to bed.” He says huskily while kissing my neck. “I’ll make it worth your while.” An offer I’m about one second away from taking as I feel his hands caress my body, leaving goosebumps in their wake.
I turn around in his arms and wrap my own around his shoulders.
“And how would you do that?” I ask.
“I can show you better than I can tell you.”
His hand latches on to mine and he leads me back to the bed. I try to switch and have him lay down but he slowly maneuvers us to have me lay down. I look at him confused but his focus is on kissing down my stomach and stopping right above my pubic bone.
Our eyes meet. His pleading. My hand reaches his head, gripping his hair, giving him a silent permission.
I gasp as I feel him place a lick to my clit. He continues his motions but he takes his time making me want to cry.
“Please.” I beg while pushing his head closer to my pussy.
He stops licking all together and lays his head on my thigh. He uses his middle finger to play with my clit and run through my folds, collecting my arousal that has been building since I heard his voice this morning and rubbing it around and on my clit.
He plays with me for a while. Whenever I show a sign of maybe building up an orgasm he goes slower.
Suddenly he lurches forward and attaches his lips around my clit. The room fills with nothing but my moans and the ridiculously loud sound of Shang-Chi eating me out. My hand unintentionally moves and holds the back of his head against me, insuring he won’t move from this position.
My hips involuntarily move up in rhythm as my orgasm builds. I look down at him and his eyes meet mine filled with love and lust. My body tenses with the impending orgasm but soon relaxes when he uses both of his hands to massage my hips and I finish. Hard.
He licks my cum as I come down from my high, only feeling the throbbing of my clit. As soon as he finishes, he places a light kiss on my clit which makes me in turn shiver. His kisses continue up until they reach my lips. I kiss back, almost immediately deepening it. I taste myself on his tongue, turning me on all over again.
His pulls back and rests his forehead on mine.
“Did you prefer me showing you?”
I let out a satisfied sigh as I nod my head yes against his. His lips meet my forehead and he proceeds to turn us over so I’m lying on top of him. Feeling his naked body against mine makes me shiver with anticipation. I start grinding my pussy up and down his now hard cock.
I look at him to ask for permission, but he nods his head before the words can leave my mouth. I reach my hand out to his shaft and slowly ease down until my clit touches his base. Before I can move he wraps his arms around my waist.
“As much as I would love that I just want to feel you around me for a bit, but then? Then I’m going back down and tasting that pretty pussy until you’re begging me to stop, so enjoy your break right now, because in about five minutes I won’t be stopping any time soon.”

we all have our secrets (5/5) - shangqi x asian!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: The aftermath. Xialing and Y/N should stay six feet apart.
Word count: 3.7k
Warnings: demon blood, mention of sex, fluff, mention of sterility, angst, language, mention of violence
Relationship: Xu Shangqi x asian!reader
Author’s note: Because Shangqi decided to be a reasonable person, I had to cut this story one chapter short, since Y/N and Shangqi were supposed to be more on the outs. Forgive me for being a depressed and empty writer who is lacking the motivation to write fight scenes and stuff like that. Keep a look-out for the epilogue, it reveals some tidbits for a future project.
Reblogs and/or comments are appreciated.

It was hard to believe that Y/N was able to fend for herself against an army of magical soul suckers. The whole fight felt like a whirlwind in her mind once the flying demon eaters breached through the gate.
At least, Xialing was fighting at her side with her rope dart while Y/N twirled her staff to eliminate as many foes as possible. If the world was ending, she couldn’t wish for a more formidable soldier next to her.
Once the cloud settled from Shangqi's ultimate power move, Y/N breathed shakily. Gory bits of demon flesh rained from the sky before there was only silence.
With her mouth open, Y/N inhaled deeply in shock, at the wet sensation dripping down her hair and face.
Before Y/N could even think about rubbing the side of her face clean, Xialing’s voice yanked her out of her internal musings, “Wow, you’re bathing in demon.”
Y/N turned her body with strained movements while her fingers were tense, afraid of the juices – ugh, even thinking it made her shudder – dripping further. And just like that, she gazed into the unmarred face of Xu Xialing. Oh, how she envied her right now.
“How come you’re—” Y/N waved her fingers in her direction to indicate Xialing's flawless self, even after a violent battle. “—not?”
Xialing shrugged, not losing another thought. “Guess I’m just lucky. I mean, you were literally under a mass of evil soul suckers.”
Y/N stretched out her arms at her sides, trying to see the humor of this situation now that everything was over. “Well, how do I look?”
Smiling indulgently, Xialing assured her with a flirty tone, “You never looked better,” before stepping towards Y/N.
She chuckled, not quite believing her. “If you say so.”
“Come here.” Xialing beckoned her with her index and middle finger on both hands, in an almost dancing motion. Despite those words, Xialing inched closer until they were barely separated by a few inches, Xialing’s soft smile met hers before her fingertips cleaned the residual blood from her skin with a light touch. “You did marvelous out there.”
Y/N gazed into her brown eyes. “Right back at you. Especially that thing you did with your rope dart?”
“You mean when I hit several in the sky at once? It felt spectacular.”
Y/N tilted her head and gazed at her in fascination. “Speaking of the sky, what is it like to ride a dragon by the way?”
Xialing exhaled a dreamy sigh with her eyes closed. “Honestly? Like pure freedom. Almost as good as sex.” At the last word, Xialing smirked wolfishly.
Y/N chuckled and rolled her eyes at Xialing’s aggressive flirt game. “Xialing,” she admonished her with a gravelly grunt.
“Y/N!”
Y/N jumped when she heard Shangqi call out, while feeling Xialing’s fingers linger around her cheeks. Y/N turned her head to glance behind her in anticipation.
Shangqi rushed through the frenzy of the battlefield, as if he was desperately looking for something. The next thing Y/N noticed was his messy hair and a smear of blood against his cheek. Shangqi held his hands to his mouth into an echoing gesture. “Y/N!”
Y/N felt frozen to the spot when Shangqi's brown-eyed gaze stared right at her.
Xialing sighed behind her. “Ever so dramatic.”
Y/N barely registered Xialing’s words when she slowly walked towards him.
Shangqi rushed towards her to close the distance between them.
Getting ready to hug him, surprise filled Y/N at seeing his clenched jaw and the determination on his face. Not knowing what was running through his head.
Shangqi was standing a few feet away from her when, out of nowhere, he pressed his lips against hers with fervor.
Y/N gasped in shock when she felt him cover her cheeks with his hands. It's been far too long since Shangqi kissed her, so she needed some time to react before she lifted her hands until they covered his hands.
Shangqi grunted low in his throat. Inhaling her scent deeply, he pecked her lips not once - but twice - before he nestled his lips against Y/N’s neck and breathed her in. “For a few seconds, the thought hit me that I could have lost you.”
Y/N stroked the back of his head in comfort. “What a horrible way to go. Defeated by flying demons? I’m just glad you’re still alive.”
Y/N slowly lifted Shangqi's lowered head until she could finally look into his eyes again. And seeing the naked vulnerability in them.
Shangqi opened his mouth and the next words coming out of them made Y/N groan out loud, “And you look horrible.”
“God, Yelena. Can’t you just be serious for once?”
Yelena’s green eyes sparkled with mischief. “I am. You’re telling me you were in some magical pocket dimension, fighting dragon demons, utterly drenched in their guts and Shaun – sorry – Shangqi just thought to himself how you looked absolutely perfect?”
Y/N narrowed her eyes before she paused with mistrust lingering in the air. “That name really flowed from your lips, Yelena.”
Yelena pressed her lips together before her expression shifted into an unabashed smirk. “You caught that, didn’t you?” She carelessly shrugged her shoulders. “My background checks are always very thorough. Besides, it wasn’t my secret to tell. I’m not one for drama, you know me.”
While staring at Yelena without blinking, Y/N reached for the straw in her drink sitting on the table between them, as she drank slowly with all the time in the world.
Finally, Yelena yielded when she rolled her eyes. “Okay, fine. Believe it or not, I didn’t want to spoil the budding romance between you two.” She internally groaned at the lovey-dovey word. “Young love, whatever you want to call it. Why didn’t you do a background check on him before?”
Y/N raised her eyebrows. “Sounds romantic.”
“I mean, he could’ve been a HYDRA defector, or something.”
Y/N resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the thought. “Don’t ruin my appetite.”
Yelena took a bite out of her omelet. “So, you just … left?” she inquired before snapping her fingers. “Just like that? No goodbye, no nothing? That’s cold, Y/L/N, even for me.”
A sigh left Y/N at the mention as she leaned back in her seat. “It felt wrong to stay. Everyone was saying their farewell to the people they lost. I felt like an imposter, like I didn’t belong there.”
“I understand.” Yelena nodded and gazed at her thoughtfully. “How was it like? Ta Lo, I mean? Being at such a fantastical place. It sounds almost too good to be true.”
Y/N smiled fondly, remembering all the otherworldly creatures. “Like a world filled with Pokémon.”
Yelena groaned with envy. “Next time, don’t tell me to run. You’re not mad at me that I just left, right?”
Y/N waved her hand. “No hard feelings. Besides, I wanted you to.”
“I kept calling your phone,” Yelena half-explained and half-scolded as a reminder.
“I know,” Y/N assured her, remembering the list of missed calls once she finally crossed that portal back into the real world.
“In that pocket dimension, cell service didn’t seem to be a possibility.” She tilted her head in curiosity once she saw the pondering expression on Yelena’s face. “What’s on your mind?”
“That it sounds too fantastical to be true. Like this is some elaborate story as an excuse why you didn’t pick up your phone.”
Tumblr media
~ Yelena POV ~
“Speaking of picking up your phone,” Yelena added, “I need to call someone. I’ll be right back. You should try the Screwdriver. I hear it’s spectacular at this place.” She pointed towards the aforementioned glass.
“If you say so. Hurry before I drink you dry.”
Yelena chuckled dryly. “I know I said it, but I might have to kill you, if there’s barely any left for me.”
Both joined in empty laughter which bordered on malicious.
With a smirk on her face, Y/N whispered, “Hurry then.” She gulped down half a glass without flinching.
Turning around, Yelena wiped the smirk from her lips, knowing how much Y/N wouldn't back down from a challenge - they both were the same in that regard - and counted on it. She walked in heeled boots towards the street corner which would overlook Y/N in the mirrored window. Yelena's time frame was very limited if she had to guess. She pressed the digits to call a certain someone before she held the device to her ear. “I hear you’re looking for someone.”
“Wh – Who’s this?”
“A concerned friend.”
“You mean a concerned friend who’s trying to sound ominous? Then yes, you certainly got that covered. Stop trying to sound like a blackmailer and tell me what you want.”
Yelena sighed deeply. This was proving to be harder than she initially thought. Eyeing Y/N in the reflection who scarfed down Yelena’s half-eaten omelet, her body almost attacked out of reflex before she thought better of it.
Time was of the essence.
“I hear you’re my sestra’s boyfriend – or lover – whatever you want to call yourself.”
“Don’t—” A sigh left Shangqi. “She never mentioned a sister.”
“Just like you never mentioned your past life? It’s not on me to judge.”
Silence lingered on the other end. “You’re a Black Widow, aren’t you?”
“Oh my, you’re smarter than I gave you credit for.”
Shangqi fell silent. “Uh, that didn’t sound like a compliment.”
Yelena ignored what he said. “You’re in luck because I’m in a giving mood, not to mention I want the best for my sestra. Are you intending to make an honest woman out of Y/N?”
“Uh…”
Yelena snorted with laughter. “I’m kidding. I don’t expect a proposal. I’ll text you a location. You’d better show up in the next five minutes, or you’ll get a very drunk Y/N.”
“What?”
“Bye.” Yelena turned around and glanced at Y/N from under her eyelashes while she sent Shangqi a text with the address to meet.
~Y/N POV~
Yelena stepped back to their outdoor table. “I’m back.” With a smile, she glanced at her plate. “Oh, naughty.” Yelena leaned forward and haphazardly cut into her omelet with a fork, trying the egg herself.
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows. “What is with you?”
Yelena chewed slowly. “What do you mean?”
“All of this. Why are you being … nice? I mean, you’re letting me share your food.”
“All of this. Why are you being … nice? I mean, you’re letting me share your food.”
“We ordered almost a whole buffet.” Yelena widened her arms.
Blinking slowly, Y/N paused in thought before she lost the alcoholic buzz all of a sudden.
“You don’t share food. Ever,” she spoke monotonously.
Yelena supported her chin on her chin as she leaned forward in fascination. “Careful, your paranoia is showing.”
Y/N narrowed her eyes. And with that, the Black Widow’s deflection tactics confirmed her suspicions. Y/N debated with herself what the catch was – there was no sniper on the roof. Perhaps the food was poisoned – it certainly seemed like a Widow’s style, although Yelena was more direct. She was more known for the straightforward knife at the front. Maybe she was trying to sell her out to some intelligence agency.
That had to be it. Keeping her breathing in check as not to arouse suspicion, Y/N realized that both hadn’t talked – only participated in this silent staring contest before fake chuckles left her.
Yelena didn't waste time in joining in and probably knowing how awkward this situation felt.
Y/N tilted her head in silent question when Yelena glanced to the right over her shoulder.
“Okay, I’m here now.”
Y/N turned in her seat with a bewildered expression on her face as she saw an out-of-breath Shangqi appear from behind her, wearing his signature red bomber jacket.
“What?” Y/N faced Yelena again in shock.
Yelena exhaled heavily. “Thank God. I didn’t know how long I could hold her off.”
“That was your secret? I thought you wanted to trade me to some HYDRA subdivision, or something.”
Yelena rolled her eyes. “As if. We’re sisters. Bound by something greater than blood. I don’t betray my family.” Standing up, she added in a jovial tone, “Well, I’m out.”
Y/N exhaled heavily, “Thanks a lot.” She sank into her seat, knowing there was no way out of this situation now.
Yelena sent her a saucy smirk over her shoulder while holding her handbag in a clenched fist. “You’re welcome, malenʹkij pauk. [little spider] Love you.”
Y/N took measured breaths in and out through her mouth. Her trepidation-filled eyes caught Shangqi slowly taking over the vacant seat which Yelena had occupied.
Trying to find the right start into a conversation, Y/N started with the obvious. “So, you’ve met Yelena.”
Shangqi nodded. “She’s a delight,” he muttered under his breath with his head lowered. “I think she just insulted me over the phone actually.”
Before Y/N could sate her curiosity, Shangqi lifted his head again to reveal his expression turning earnest. “You just left. You promised me you would stay, and we’d talk. What happened?”
Y/N sighed loudly at the awkward reminder. “It felt like a personal moment,” she admitted almost reluctantly. “saying goodbye to your loved ones. I didn’t want to barge in on it. Besides, who have I lost in life? You’d need to have a family, loved ones to mourn someone. Someone to love and care about you.”
Shangqi’s shoulders slumped in relief and his Adam's Apple bobbed. A light smile lingered on his lips. “And here I thought you were trying to run. To escape our talk.”
Y/N smiled tiredly. “It’s not that. Just holding it off. What can I say? I’m a procrastinator.”
“What makes you say you didn’t have anyone? You were taken from your mother.”
“Well, she died.” It took her by surprise how quick those words passed her lips. “Normally, I’d say this to make other people uncomfortable, but not with you. She was a single mother, so the Red Room didn’t want to take any chances by getting rid of her.”
“The Russians took enough from you. Taking your mother away from you, your childhood.”
Y/N exhaled and bit her lower lip, not knowing whether and how to even open that Pandora’s Box from the past.
“Are there any other ske – I mean, secrets I should know about?”
Y/N chuckled dryly. “Nice save.”
Shangqi smirked. “I know. I’m very smooth,” he teased, straightening the non-existent wrinkles from his shoulder.
Y/N chose to indulge him. “You sure are.” She turned serious again. “I’m trying to leave all that behind. My life … hasn’t been on the straight and narrow. A lot of things I’m not proud of. I just want to be … a normal girl whose only issues are eating too much junk food and trying to keep a stable relationship.”
Sending Y/N a molten gaze that set her body ablaze, Shangqi whispered, “You’re far from normal.”
“What about you? Any sexual exploits or assassinations to talk about?”
“No, same with me. I just want to live my life. Maybe have my best girl at my side…” He gazed at her from under his eyelashes.
Y/N tilted her head and teased him playfully, “You mean Katy? Didn’t know you were into her. You really are into building a solid foundation before starting a relationship, huh?”
Shangqi vigorously shook his head while explaining, “You know what I mean. I just want you. Living our life together. No pretense. I mean if you’re into that.”
“Very much,” she admitted with a whisper. “But…” All the memories hit her at the mention of secrets, knowing the truth needed to be out in the open, without anything holding her back.
“I won’t be able to give you one of the things you want the most.”
Shangqi narrowed his eyes in expectation.
“A child,” she continued.
Shangqi’s features tightened due to the ominous and yet vague answer.
“The Red Room never saw us as girls or women. We were soldiers, or weapons. We were things and didn't matter. So, they tried to get rid of the possibility of something that belonged to us. A part of our identity.”
Y/N felt her throat drying out, with every heavy breath she had to take. “They didn’t need vulnerabilities. That our alliances would shift.”
Y/N’s body stilled. Warmth blossomed inside her once her gaze fell and lingered on Shangqi’s hand covering hers on the table.
“I’m sorry how much they took from you.”
“I know how much you love kids. And I know I can’t give that to you.” Deep regret was laced in her whispered voice, with every ounce of wishing for things to be different.
Her stomach clenched at the feel of his hand caressing hers. “I don’t care about that. I just want to be happy. With you.” Shangqi’s cheeks reddened once another thought hit him. “And we … have other ways, you know?”
As soon as the deeper meaning behind those words rang true, Y/N’s chuckles wrenched free. She tilted her head, supporting her chin on her clenched fist. “You’re something else, you know that? I mean, we’re already talking about children.”
“Well, I was always too fast for my own good.”
Her eyes glinted with mischief. “Is that supposed to sound sexual?”
“No, I – I swear, no−”
Despite his stuttering words, Y/N smiled fondly. “You’re cute.”
Shangqi exhaled the breath he was holding. “As I keep hearing, but it’s still nice to hear.”
“What do you have planned for today?”
“I don’t know. You want to get some Boba?”
“Always,” she assured him.

Six months later
~Yelena POV~
The blonde-haired woman shook her head. A smirk adorned her lips once she read the text message lighting up her screen.
“You dog,” Yelena spoke loudly and chuckled gruffly. Her eyes caught the message of her friend again and couldn’t help the mirthful shudders wrecking through her chest.
Second-best assassin: Shangqi is killing me. He’s this close to getting a dog, proposing to me, and adopting two children all in one day. He keeps talking about it. He’s not even being subtle about it. Help me!
Yelena snorted. Sarcasm was apparent in her answer when she replied in a text, “This is what you wanted, right? A dog, white picket fence … What did you do to the poor guy? He seems crazy about you.”
Second-best assassin: Poor him? Poor me. You’re supposed to tell me he’s insane and that I should drop his ass.
Yelena sighed wistfully, immersing herself into daydreams. “Gotta admit, he’s got a cute butt.”
Second-best assassin: Stop staring at my boyfriend’s – soon to be fiancé’s – butt.
“That’s the spirit,” Yelena sent back with a proud smirk. Her body stilled when the screen turned black and a call from a withheld number broke through. All the humor vanished from her face before her thumb hovered over the accept button. Her body erupted with heat as suspicion took hold of her.
With reluctant fingers, Yelena took the call as she spoke brusquely, “Who’s this and how did you get this number?”
The anonymous caller didn’t seem bothered by the tone in her voice and didn’t even miss a beat when she responded, “I’m calling on behalf of a mutual friend.”
Yelena furrowed her eyebrows. “I don’t have friends. There are only allies or enemies.”
The mysterious woman chuckled almost dryly. “So dramatic. I’m just the messenger. And is that any way to talk about your former handler?”
With her phone stilling at her ear, Yelena heart stopped beating before it almost burst through her chest. “How did you –?”
She licked her dry lips. This wasn’t possible. Her voice turned hoarse, betraying her true feelings when Yelena muttered under her breath, “Tatiana’s dead.”
It was true that nothing could’ve vanquished her former handler. A part of her refused to admit the alternative that something could kill the oh-so invulnerable woman, but there weren’t any other reports – even by the other Widows – to reveal her survival.
“The White Widow isn’t easy to kill. And she doesn’t go by that name anymore−”
Her right eye twitched with the budding foreplay. “Why are you calling me?”
“My employer heard you’ve been building an army.”
“I’ve been freeing Widows. I’m not doing it for self-gain,” Yelena corrected the anonymous one vehemently, feeling personally attacked by the arrogance in her robotic voice.
Yelena could basically sense the smirk on the stranger’s face. This was mere seconds before the woman chuckled low in her throat. “What a pity.”
“What do you want? Why wouldn't … the White Widow contact me herself?”
She chose her next words carefully. “My employer has other things to deal with at the moment.”
Yelena frowned in confusion at the peculiar phrasing. Way to sound mysterious. “Such as?” she questioned while tapping her foot impatiently.
“There’s a situation that would demand your immediate attention.”
“I refuse to work for anybody else. The last time I was screwed over, and I’m over that.”
“This involves the well-being of all the remaining Widows.”
This woman was starting to piss her off. Fury bubbled to the surface from the vague words. “Stop talking about them like a fucking robot. Besides, how am I supposed to believe you’re telling the truth? That you’re really working for … Tatiana?”
Silence echoed on the other end for about ten seconds. The longer it remained quiet, Yelena’s heartbeat pulsated in her chest.
“The White Widow was your main handler and she basically raised you.”
Yelena rolled her eyes. “Please, I bet that’s in one of my censored files.”
“When you were a student in the Red Room Academy, the White Widow would break your hand every time you’d fail. You think she did that to punish you for your failures, but in truth she wanted to strengthen your bones.”
Yelena opened her mouth several times before closing it again, feeling speechless at the memory resurfacing. Remembering all the times when Tatiana would break her bones in an almost clinical way, knowing exactly which spot to hit. Remembering her handler’s mask slipping and acknowledging it for one of the only moments of humanity in that godforsaken place.
Almost numb, Yelena whispered, “Where does she want me?”
“You’ll receive word soon. We want you to be ready. If you truly care about the Black Widows staying safe,” she paused with lingering silence before confessing, “And she goes by Talia now.”

i’ll always find (see) you (n.s)
summary ⇾ after a training gone sour, lo’ak knows who to find in order to keep his brother in check. details ⇾ 2,299 words / neteyam sully x na’vi!reader / 🌸 comfort fluff / established relationship / gn!reader  notes ⇾ i know i’ve been m.i.a lately but... i’ve been inspired to write for avatar so... here it is! ✨
Tumblr media
the flora and fauna that surrounds you is what makes you think this–the mixes of pink, blue and green–must be heaven on earth. the fireflies that float about, sounds of kiri’s fascination as she occasionally lures one or two butterflies over your wandering eyes; the two of you laying side by side on the grass, staring ahead at the cocooning trees.
until a branch snapping cues the two of you to be on alert. you sit up, leaning partially to shield kiri as your hands fetch the dagger slotted by your ankle; kiri baring her fangs with a hand on your shoulder, squeezing it out of instinct.
the both of you visibly relax when–”couldn’t you just announce your presence like any normal being?” you scoff a laugh, putting your dagger away as kiri sighs, shaking her head, hand slipping from your shoulder, “lo’ak, where’s neteyam?”
“i’m here to ask y/n that.”
based on how lo’ak’s eyes lower to the ground, hands behind his back, it makes your heart clench at the implication. he’s gone... again. you glance to kiri, who nods, a silent and understanding of go, it’s okay. i’ll see you later. rising to your feet, you align your gazes with lo’ak, the younger boy offering you a small smile.
“you okay?”
he chuckles, nodding with gratitude; familiar to your warmth and care, “i’m not the one you should be checking up on,” he shakes his head, “not this time, at least.”
“again?” you warm up your ankles and shake your wrists, prepping your body for the way you’d need to climb because–”we can see everything from up here...” your voice comes out in a mere whisper, yet only one can hear you. neteyam circles his arm around your waist, leaning in close as he presses his forehead to the side of your face, “and yet, all i see is you.”–where you’re about to go is a place only you and neteyam know.
somewhere only we know–how foolish. how childish. how... safe and happy you two were at a location that provided you privacy to be whoever you wanted to be. there, you are only known as yourself and neteyam was only known to be neteyam. no labels. no warrior. nothing. just you and him. him and you. together.
“training didn’t go well today, that’s all i can say,” lo’ak mumbles under his breath. before he can get another coherent sentence out, he’s left breathless when you take off past the trees and soon he notices you’re climbing and swinging on the branches.
“be back by dinner!” kiri calls out, well-aware it would reach you despite it looking otherwise.
//
neteyam feels the wind brushing against his skin; calm, tranquil, the coos of the birds soaring above and the low murmurs of leaves clashing below. normally, his senses would be heightened at the sound of branches creaking but this... here–his safe place–is no ordinary place.
it’s one of the highest points that grants him the view of his home; his people. sometimes... once in a while, that gets suffocating. being the eldest, being the one who’s supposed to fit in the role-model mould... it got suffocating, overwhelming.
one day, you brought him here. past the groans and moaning of how much higher?! he’s grateful this became the place he frequented when things got hard to process; when it got hard to breathe. you were here with him, hand-in-hand, his head on your shoulder, arms hugging your waist; his safe place, his person.
here, he was not neteyam te suli tsyeyk’itan; he was just neteyam... and yours.
“you know,” your voice echoes into his ears, then his eyes are blessed with the sight of you climbing up the last branch to reach the one he’s sitting on, “if i knew this would be the place we’d come often, i would’ve chosen somewhere easier to access...”
“you’re such a baby,” he scoffs a laugh, rubbing his nose with the back of his hand, a quiet sniff entering your ears–he’s not crying.
“you’re the one to talk,” you quip back, just as you take your seat next to him. that gets him to quiet down and you’re half-regretting what you’ve said. “sorry... too soon?” you try to make up for it but he only shakes his head, moving to lean against you with a soft not soon enough...
his body grows towards you automatically. like you’re the source of light and he’s the receiver. taking in as much as he possibly can; for when things get heavy, for when things get dark. all he has to think about is his family and what’s at stake; you, you, you–all of you. his eyes flutter shut and he puts his arms around you, scooting you closer until one of your legs nearly go over his due to how close he’s pulling you.
you sigh and allow him to bury himself in your embrace. his face soon meeting your neck, arms tightening around your frame, tail lightly caressing your lower back out of habit. it reminds him that this is what home feels like; what home was meant to be. past the fighting and defending one’s honour, he was meant to be your lover.
you place a hand on his thigh, now noticing the marks of scratches that are on his skin. it doesn’t make him flinch when your fingers brush over it, but what makes him shudder is the way you turn your body so you can cocoon him in. one arm slithering around his shoulders, pulling him in and he inhales deeply against your pulse; your scent.
“you wanna talk about it?” you pry gently, lips to his temple.
initially, he shakes his head.
but a couple of gentle strokes to the back of his head, he relents. details of how strict his father was, the pressure to please and succeed, the role of the oldest sibling weighs heavy on his shoulders and... well... he may or may not have raised his voice back in retaliation for the first time in months. it was normal, even if he thinks otherwise. for every insecurity or dark thought he has, you’ve always combatted with the opposite he longs to be true (it is, he just stubbornly refuses to admit now).
“what if i’ll never live up to him?” good, you’re not supposed to be a copy of your father. you’re meant to be your own person.
“what if i can’t protect them?” as much as you feel responsible to protect everyone else, you should protect yourself first. that’s what your parents would want before you help others.
“what if i’m a failure?” now you’re just talking a load of nonsense.
then, it always, always end with: “thank you,” he lifts his head up, eyes closed as he leans his forehead against yours. his eyes gently open, the moment seemingly soft, serene, pure but you–”for nearly breaking a muscle climbing up to find you? i think i should start claiming a price to this.”
“you dense baboon,” he hisses. the tone of his voice only makes you laugh. giddily, knowing very well by the sound of his voice, it seems like you’ve breathed life back into his lungs.
“i mean, if you call me a dense baboon, what about you? you’re the one who–and i quote–will never love another–dense baboon.”
he gives up with a sigh, eyes fluttering back shut that it makes you give in. after all, he did have a bad day. might as well let him win.
“ah, okay, okay,” you coo, easing the hand that was once on his thigh, then crawling up on his neck, now reaching his cheek where you cup it tenderly. it beckons him to open his eyes, briefly, before it instinctively closes when he feels your breath over his lips; then, the fleeting moment of your kiss that makes his body tense and relax at the same time.
“just one?” he murmurs, a hand of his now meeting the nape of your neck to keep you there as he leans against you.
“how bad of a day did you have?”
“might need a few more to forget about it,”
“you do know this ends with me dragging you back to your father, right?”
“...then give me all the kisses now.”
//
maybe it was thirty minutes, maybe an hour, but all neteyam knows is that he’s calm and at ease as he walks along the path back home with you; his hand in yours, step by step mimicking one another. neteyam succumbed to your wishes of heading back, an hour or two before dinner would take place.
neteyam’s lost in the moment, merely following your hand dragging him like a compass.
it’s not until he nearly loses his footing by staring at you instead of where he’s walking. he tightens his hold on your hand, a soft gasp leaving his lips as you tug him up. it happens so fast; so sudden. his other hand now meets your waist for stability as you come face to face with him–so close he can count the lashes lining your eyes, the smile that twirls up on your lips.
“if you wanted another kiss, all you had to do was ask,”
he scoffs with the roll of his eyes but his hands, his body betrays him. it always does. always weak when it comes to you.
you let go of his hand to circle them behind his neck as he lures you towards him. one hand securing you by the hip, the other reaching up to pillow against your cheek as he lightly noses along yours.
“thank you,” he says, in a mere whisper.
“you said that earlier,” you try to joke, only to get ignored when he gazes into your eyes, making whatever thought you had in your mind fade away; replaced with just the one looking back at you. you lean into his touch as his thumb brushes the under of your eye and as cheesy as it sounds, you feel your heart swelling at such tender moment you two were sharing.
“for seeing me,” his voice blends with the gust of wind that envelopes the pair of you. his words, so seemingly simple but it held much more than that. for coming to me whenever you know something is wrong. for loving me; thank you for loving me.
“i’ll always see you,” i’ll always find you; love you.
he cracks a smile, “even when i’m way up too high in the trees?”
“especially then.”
//
((“i’m sorry, sir,” neteyam has his head lowered, “for how i acted, for the way i behaved. i will do better.”
he swallows, hands locked behind his back as he waits for a response. half-anticipating for a reprimanding, half-afraid of what’s to come. he peeks up at the lack of response, now noticing the soft look in his father’s eyes.
“good,” is all jake says, then motioning him away with the movement of his chin pointing to the side, “dismissed.”
neteyam swallows, as you gape; having stood by his side since the second you’ve dragged him back. neteyam glances to you, then back to his father who remains unmoving.
“d-dad–”
“dismissed,” jake repeats himself, now looking to you with a small nod. you’re able to give a smile, understanding jake’s intentions. he may look stern and he certainly in hell is strict, but he loves his family and it shows. you can see it in the way jake strives to protect those he loves and that comes with a price of being too harsh sometimes. it’s the mutual understanding you have that got jake to warm up just a bit to you (compared to how neytiri awed over the way she noticed her son adoring you).
it was your cue to bow in respect before you wrap your fingers on one of the wrists behind neteyam’s back to tug him away. he doesn’t object, already stumbling to follow you but just as he glances over his shoulder, he could’ve sworn he saw his father crack a smile before he turned his back.
//
”if i knew getting him to date someone would get him to return quicker, i’d thrown him off the edge earlier,” jake comments, snorting at his own remark as he tidies up the equipment. he lets out a soft augh when he feels a nudge to his head, knowing very well of who it might–”you promised you’d go easier on him.”
“i am!” he sighs, looking up to neytiri who has her hands on her hips, raising a brow, “i’ll... have a chat with him, down by the river later.”
she somehow raises her brow higher and he extends his arm out, pointing right at–”you sure we won’t fall?” neteyam squints his eyes at you, watching as you effortlessly hook your knees over the branch, dangling your body upside down with a grin, “do not tell me that the great warrior neteyam, son of jake sully is afraid?”
neteyam scoffs a laugh and threatens to bite your ankle when he grips onto it, only to yelp when you nudge him forward and he has to rely on his reflexes to follow your lead. when he’s securely hanging next to you, he’s able to smile widely at you, finding your hand on the branch between your bodies. it makes you laugh this time, tail lining up the side of his body as he swirls his along your legs. it was playful, childish... it was happiness.
neytiri’s eyes soften at the sight, a smile crawling to her face. she directs her gaze back to jake, who has this shit-eating-grin on his face.
“get to him before dark. i want a nice, peaceful dinner as a family tonight.”
“roger that.”))

Shang Tsung had traveled to a club and found you there, fresh-faced, nervous, but oh so pretty and submissive
you had given him a lap-dance, pretty eyes blinking up at him, pretty red lips begging to be bitten, and body looking perfect to be ruined by him
he slipped his business card in along with a few hundred in cash and waited for a phone call from you
it had taken almost a week of waiting, your body haunting his thoughts as he kept on checking his phone, but you finally called
you talked in a timid and sweet voice, and Shang Tsung wanted to hear you moan, to have your voice ruined by sucking on his cock
he tells you to come in for an audition the next day and that he’ll provide costumes for you
you agree and thank him for the opportunity, adding on an innocent sir at the end of the thanks before ending the phone call
Shang Tsung can’t help himself and pulls his cock out and imagines your lips wrapped around his dick, lipstick smeared and mascara running down your cheeks
you arrive the next day a few minutes early, and Shang Tsung observes how nervous you seem, how your make-up is applied, how you squirm in his seat as he leans in a bit closer to you
he brings you to a back room, black leather couch sitting in the back with a nice rug sitting in front of it, and Shang Tsung sits in the middle and tells you to change in the room next door and impress him
he already knows he’s going to hire you, but he wants to have a taste right now
you bite your lip and nod, going to the next room over, and Shang Tsung bounces his knee impatiently as you change into the costume he’s chosen for you
you come back into the room, face warm and eyes downcast as you tug at the harness, and Shang smirks at the sight of you
you’re dressed in a lingerie set that does nothing hide your chest or your pussy from prying eyes, and a garter belts squeeze your thighs and cause a bit of fat to pudge out
Shang Tsung has never been so hard
what really sells the vision is the collar around your neck, and he imagines it’s his collar, claiming you as his, but he shakes off the thought and beckons you to come close
you teeter a bit awkwardly in front of him, unused to his stilettos you’re wearing, but you make it in front of him and kneel in front of his spread legs obediently
he pets your hair, purring out a praise, and you face warms at the words
he leans back and tells you to pleasure him, and you bring your hands forward, unzipping his pants and pull his underwear down far enough to take his cock out through the hole
you stroke his dick, spreading the pre-cum down his shaft and take the tip into your mouth, pressing your tongue into the slit and suckling on his dick
he groans and resists the urge to grab your hair and fuck your face until you’re crying
you bob your head up and down, taking him further and further into your mouth until your nose is buried in his clothed pelvis
you hum around his dick, tongue pressing into a vein on the underside of his cock, and Shang Tsung clenches his fist to stop himself from cumming too quickly
you bob your head up and down the full length of his cock, tongue pressing and prodding against him for a few more minutes, and Shang Tsung sees stars as he finally cums into your mouth
you whine and eagerly swallow his cum, and when you come off his mouth, you stick your tongue out to show you’ve swallowed it all
Shang Tsung pets the side of your face and tells you that you deserve a reward
he helps you up on shaky legs, and he doesn’t miss the way that your wetness coats the inside of your thighs
he brings you to another room and has you sign all the papers and everything else, and he enjoys watching you squirm in your seat as you try to rub your thighs together for some friction
he sends you off and tells you the date of your first film and who else will be performing with you
you come a few minutes early to the filming day just as before, and he tells you to dress up in a costume once again, and he’ll be waiting for you in the filming room
when you knock on the door and enter, Shang Tsung knows you’re going to be a hit
that sweet expression mixed with the tight white dress and fake angel wings and halo above you really do sell you as an innocent little toy for him
two of his other actors are waiting for you in the room already, dressed with fake devil wings and horns
none of the cameras are rolling yet, but he wishes they were to catch the expression of your face as Quan Chi and Havik stand up and tower over you
they bring you over with gentle hands to the center of the room, a somewhat elaborate stage of hell, and Shang Tsung starts the cameras
there’s a bit of the introductory dialogue, but soon enough, Quan Chi picks you up, arms hooked over your legs to spread you wide apart
your dress rides up to expose your pretty pussy to the camera and Havik laughs, calling you a naughty angel for not wearing any panties
you try to deny it, but the protest turns into a yelp as Havik slaps your pussy and watches as you clench around nothing
he laughs in that deep voice, saying that naughty angels must be punished before landing a series of slaps on your pussy and pinching at your clit
make-up streams down your cheeks as you cry and sob, trying to jerk away from the contact, but Quan Chi keeps you still in his arms
Havik laughs at your pathetic mewls but finally stops abusing your drooling pussy and presses a sweet kiss onto your clit
you whine and whimper as Havik laps at your clit, using his fingers to spread your folds and dig his tongue deeper into your pussy
Quan Chi readjusts his arms, his hands digging into your thighs and leaving bruises on your soft skin, and your hips buck forward into Havik’s mouth
the man brings his fingers up, shoving them into your pussy and curling them to find that sweet spot inside of you, and he hums around your clit
you arch your back off of Quan Chi, and he chuckles as Havik starts to abuse that spot within you
Shang Tsung can see the way your wetness drips down onto the floor, and he pulls out his own aching cock and lightly strokes himself to ease some of the tension
as you throw your head back into Quan Chi’s chest, cumming on Havik’s fingers, you grow limp in his arms, eyes glassy and make-up ruined by your tears
Quan Chin puts you down on shaky legs and disappears off the camera to go and grab something, and Havik grabs onto your cheek and kisses you roughly, shoving his tongue down your throat
you whine and melt into the touch despite the roughness, and Quan Chi returns with a dildo, one that resembles a tentacle
he tells you to be a good angel and arch, and you do so without a single complaint, still occupied with the feeling of Havik roughly kissing you
Quan Chi slides the tentacle between your soaked folds, and you jump slightly at the cold silicon touching you
the man slowly slides the dildo into you, and you moan into Havik’s mouth, slightly squirming at the texture
Quan Chi swats your ass and tells you to stay still for him as he roughly fucks you on the dildo, and you moan into Havik’s mouth
the man moves down to kiss your neck, sucking hickeys into your neck, and Quan Chi continues to fuck you on the dildo, telling you you’re such a naughty angel for enjoying being fucked by two demons
you whine into the air and ask them to cum, pretty please, tears are gathering on the tips of your eyelashes
Quan Chi has a cruel smirk and says no, stuffing the dildo back into your abused cunt before forcing you on your knees
both Havik and Quan Chi take out their dicks, and Quan Chi tells you to work for your orgasm, and you whimper but put Havik’s dick into your mouth and Quan Chi’s cock into your hand
you stroke Quan Chi, flicking your wrist and pressing the pad of your thumb into the slit of his cock, and he groans at your ministrations and tells you to keep going
Havik has grabbed onto your face, fucking into your throat with reckless abandon as he tells you what a whore you are for enjoying this
your hips twitch as you try to bounce on the dildo, but with the way Havik’s holding you and Quan Chi is next to you, you can only clench your pussy around the thick tentacle
Havik pulls you off of his dick, patting the side of your face harshly with his palm as he makes fun of how whorish you look, that you’re such a cock slut
you agree dumbly, and Quan Chi grabs onto your chin and forces his cock down your throat, grabbing onto your hair and dragging you up and down on his cock
Shang Tsung can see the way Quan Chi’s throat bulges in your throat, and he wishes that were him
but all in due time
you bring your hand up to stroke Havik, but your strokes are shaky and uncoordinated as you lose air from Quan Chi thrusting into your throat
finally, he pulls out of your mouth, and Havik and Quan Chi stroke themselves, and you stick out you tongue and let them shoot their cum all over your face
you swallow what lands on your tongue, and they drag you up, Quan Chi bringing you in for a rough kiss as he gropes your ass, and Havik takes out the tentacle, a loud squelching sound filling the air
Shang Tsung stands up and exits the room, putting on his own costume, just a pair of horns and wings bigger than Havik’s and Quan Chi’s and walks back into the room
he walks in on them with Quan Chi sucking another hickey into your neck and Havik squeezing and slapping your red ass
Shang Tsung checks that the cameras are rolling before stepping onto the stage
immediately, they stop what they’re doing and pull you so that you stand between them
your wetness drips down your legs, and your wings and halo are slightly askew, but it just enhances your ruined image
Shang Tsung approaches you and tsks, putting his thumb into your mouth, and you automatically suck on it
you’re completely fucked-out, willing to do anything Shang Tsung says, and he smiles internally at the thought of that
he mocks your expression, saying that an angel should’ve look so debauched, and you can only moan around his thumb at the words
he continues on, saying maybe he’ll keep you as his own little pet, for him to use and fuck and breed when he wants to
he signals the other two to let go of you and for Quan Chi to stop rolling the cameras to move another prop on set
Quan Chi does so, and he and Havik start moving a bed onto set
but you’re still a drooling mess in Shang Tsung’s arm, sucking on Shang Tsung’s thumb and clinging onto him like a lifeline
Shang Tsung smiles and brings you to the bed and tells Quan Chi to start filming again
once he hears the camera click, he removes his thumb from your mouth and trails kisses down your neck, your stomach, until he reaches your cunt
he spreads them with his wide shoulders and forces you to keep them apart as you hiccup and sniffle as you try to grab for Shang Tsung
he tuts and tells you to be a good angel and keep your hands to yourself, and you immediately put your hands on the sheets
Shang Tsung can see how your pussy drools for him, clenching around nothing, and how it’s still swollen from the way Havik slapped it earlier
but you look so pretty like this, clit swollen and pussy sore, and Shang Tsung files away the thought of hitting your sensitive clit with a riding crop
Shang Tsung buried his nose into your clit, grinding into the overstimulated nub, and laps at your pussy with his tongue
you whine and arch off the bed but dutifully keep your hands on the bed as Shang Tsung hums into your abused cunt
he fucks you on his tongue, relishing in your needy moans and pathetic mewling, and he quickly brings you to an orgasm
as your chest heaves up and down, he climbs up and slides his dick between your folds before sliding into you
you’re still wet and tight around him despite the dildo inside of you earlier, and he groans at the feeling of you clenching down on him
he sets a brutal pace, hips slamming down onto yours and slapping against your clit, and he tells you that you can move your hands
immediately, your hands claw at his back, and he purrs about how much of a slut you look like right now and asking what the other angels would think if they saw you like this
you can’t respond, just blabbering out nonsense, and Shang Tsung slows down his pace and tells you to answer like a good whore
you babble out that they’d think you’re just a cumslut, a dump for demons to breed you with their seed, that they’d think you’re a dirty angel who can only suck dick
Shang Tsung smiles and calls you a good angel before continuing with his ruthless pace
as he continues to fuck you, tears stream down your cheeks, and he has to resist the urge to kiss them away
instead, he bites your neck, and you keen, your pussy spasming around his dick
you squirt all over his torso, and Shang Tsung’s eyes sparkle as he realizes that you’re a squirter
squirters always raked in more cash
he fucks you through your orgasm, and you can only let continue fucking into you, chasing his own release despite the sparks of pain mixing with the pleasure now
Shang Tsung’s hips stutters, and he buries himself deep inside of you and spills his cum deep inside of you
he lazily thrusts in and out of you as he cums, and pulls out when he can feel his dick softening
he looks down at the mixture of your cum and his cum mixing, and he shoves it back in with his fingers, commenting that you’re going to be a wonderful breeding bitch
Quan Chi cuts the cameras, and Havik immediately rushes over with some damp towels and water for Shang Tsung and you
the director helps you sit up, but there’s still a far away look in your eyes
he helps you drink some water and eat a small bite of a granola bar, but your eyes are still slightly watery and glossy
Shang Tsung frowns and gets up to go and check something, but you grip onto his hand and ask him in a quiet voice to not leave, small tears dripping down your cheeks and a slight sniffle escaping from you
he sends a concerned glance over to Quan Chi and Havik, who tell him to take care of you and that they’ll clean up, and he picks you up and brings you to his office
he lays you down on the couch and cuddles up next to you, and you let out a dopey smile and snuggle into his chest
you fall asleep soon after, and Shang Tsung realizes that you need a lot more comfort right now than he was providing
and then he smiles at how compliant and submissive you are, how compliant and submissive you can be, how he could get you to do anything in this state
the film releases soon after, and Shang Tsung watches as the numbers rise
he pets your head as he sits at his desk, and you whine, your cock in his mouth as he has you cockwarm him
he’s going to have so much fun breaking you in

Quan Chi X Reader Imagine
I'm coming out with a way bigger version of this soon btw :)
Disturbing themes. Sorta... almost rapey, but there's no NSFW or rape lmao
--
Whether Y/N was fully biologically human daughter to Shang Tsung, or a mix like Mileena, or half human half something else, or even adopted- it didn't matter. She was the daughter of Shang Tsung. And Quan Chi hated Shang Tsung.
Even the idea of some deadly alliance between them, their bloodlust against Raiden and other Earthrealmers, or whatever else was never enough to keep their fueds from raging. They hated each other's position under Shao Kahn. Shang Tsung always, despite being a mire human, bested Quan Chi in the Kahn's eyes.
And Quan Chi wanted to ensure he would become the new higher up. All it took was to break down his greatest foe.
And what else did his greatest foe love more than his own daughter? That girl- so lushful, gracious, and beautiful. No matter what she was- human or not- Shang Tsung would raise her to be the lovely hanfu of his time in China. Oh, how long ago it felt; and yet, he had perfectly replicated the gorgeous femininity of the women of his time.
He gave her free choice iver what she did. She learned magic, telekinesis and teleportation, however if she wanted to learn to fight or absorb souls was her own wish. She was only 20 at the time and she needed more time to discover what she really wanted. Live a life like her father (under constant threat of death under Shao Kahn and the Elder Gods) or a life of a delicate hanfu.
Let's just say, she couldn't hurt a fly. And as uncharacteristic as it was, Shang Tsung loved her purity.
And what more does a demon love than purity that slowly becomes...
corrupt.
-
"Stop it, you demon fool, I am the daughter o-of Shang! My father w-will!-"
"Your father isn't here now, is he?"
"S-Stop it! Stop!"
-
Tied up and bonded wasn't the worst of her fear. Why, her father kept her safe all these years that she didn't even know what she was encountering. Demons? What even were they outside of those books she read? How could she escape?
But the worst of her fear wasn't the unknown. It was him. That demon, looming iver her with a disgusting grin. She breathed out heavily, bare and shaking, as she looked up at him fear in her eyes.
"Your father can no longer aid you, Y/N. He is finished," he spoke in his clear, bold voice. He walked forward, resting his finger under her chin to stare at her deep into her eyes.
"What... what do you mean?" She whispered back, almost inaudibly.
"Shang Tsung, albeit powerful, was incapable of saving you. When you were unconscious, he had tried and failed. Your father, Shang Y/N, is dead."
Fear plunged into her heart. Her eyes widened.
Yet, somehow, a part of her naive heart refused to believe it. Perhaps that part was true. Perhaps it was just that Shao Kahn would forbid Shang Tsung from fighting Quan Chi. And Shao Kahn had no knowledge of his daughter, for Shang Tsung didn't want him to enslave her. How could he tell the Kahn now? What punishment would come from such?
And it broke the notorios sorcerer down. He knew the demon did it. He knew the demon was manipulating his poor daughter's mind and soul. He knew he should have taught her to fight- to use magic- to protect herself!
...
He at least got to see her again.
Tormented and... "trained"... by Quan Chi for years after disappearing. How cold the sorcerer became afterwards was evident. Quan Chi could see he broke down the sorcerer. And not only did he win the favor of Shao Kahn, but he won a wife. Quan Y/N.
And when the demon brought his wife to a party thrown by the Kahn, Shang Tsung could see what happened to his beloved daughter. Her eyes dark with misery, face dull without a single emotion behind it, lip busted from what would most likely be physical abuse.
... But, under Shao Kahn, what could he do? He couldn't save her. The Kahn would side with Quan Chi. The Kahn would kill Shang Tsung for not only hiding a daughter, lying about not having one, and causing problems regarding Quan Chi.
And likely, his daughter would die as a result.
Why couldn't the God's punishment him instead of his innocent daughter?

You furrowed your brows, looking between the books. Taking the one on the left, you turned and moved through the aisles, calling out, “Wong!”
The man hummed in response from the other side of the library of the Kamar-Taj, from his usual spot. You made your way to him, tilting the pages in his direction. “These pages are incorrect,” you stated.
Those words made the man look up. “That’s impossible.”
“It’s entirely possible, because they are,” you replied. “Look.”
He took the book from your hands, scanning the pages. “...they are. But how-”
Before he could continue, the entire building started to shake under your feet, both of you reaching for the other and clutching the desk for support. As the shaking stopped, you both looked at each other, before you asked, “What was that?”
“...I have no idea,” Wong stated.
Tumblr media
Shang-Chi was surprised, even though he knew he shouldn’t be. Ta Lo continued to surprise him, so he should have known their ceremony for the dead would do the same.
The lanterns had been familiar, in a sense. He and Xialing had lit two lanterns for their parents, letting them float away together onto the water. Katy had lit a lantern for her archery teacher.
What had surprised him was after the lanterns, the people of Ta Lo celebrated. It wasn’t the kind of party he or Katy had or went to by any means, but it was clearly a celebration, and one they knew well, even if had been years since one had been held. The food was good, the music and stories being enjoyed, but eventually, Shang-Chi had to slip away. He needed a breath.
Moving back to the edge of the water, he let out a breath, his gaze sliding to the lanterns still on the surface. He could still feel the ten rings on his wrists, the weight of them and his father weighing heavy on his mind, heavier than he thought they could be.
“I thought you might be here.”
Shang-Chi turned, smiling softly as his Aunt Nan padded towards him. “Here I thought no one would miss me,” he joked.
“I was looking for you,” she replied, stopping beside him, looking up with a smile on her lips. “I have something for you.”
“You’ve given me enough,” he insisted quietly. “You and everyone here need to take care of yourselves first.”
“We will,” she responded. “This is something different.”
Her gaze left the lanterns then, and she turned to face him. “I am one of the elders now, and I have a tremendous honor: bestowing gifts to those that not only saved our village, but defeated the Dweller in Darkness.”
Shang-Chi stumbled over his words for a moment, before muttering, “I did what I had to…”
His aunt smiled, reaching out and cupping his cheek, in a way he had to remember that family did. “I know, nephew. But that deserves thanks.”
Letting go of him, she reached into her pocket, pulling out something and holding it out. “We cannot offer more, but instead I offer something important to our people, and rarer than I can explain.”
He took it carefully, realizing it was a circular case, made of the same dragon scales that most of the armor and weapons were. Opening the case slowly, Shang-Chi stared down, barely able to see in the light what the item was.
It was a compass.
A broken compass, spinning endlessly, not working like he would expect.
He immediately stomped down the reaction of confusion and disappointment, looking back up at her. “...I’m a little confused,” he stated.
She laughed, nodding. “I expected as much. Centuries ago, The Great Protector gave our people a select few compasses, this is one of them. They point to the very soul that matches your own perfectly, or as most of us have come to call them, your soul mate.”
“...okay…so…” He looked down at the spinning compass, feeling his heart drop into his stomach.
“This is not the first instance this has happened,” she muttered. “What this means is that your soul mate is not on this world.”
“They’re on my world then?”
“Most likely, yes.” Aunt Nan reached out, shutting the compass lid. “All we ask, is that once you had met the match to your soul, and are bound together in whatever way you two choose, you both come here.”
“Here?”
She smiled, and nodded. “We have a special ceremony, to bind you together. Then you will return the compass, and someone else will receive the compass.”
“Ah, right,” he muttered. Of course he wouldn’t keep the compass, it was centuries old.
But now that the thought was settling in, with everything else about this past week, he felt overwhelmed, and heavier than ever before.
A lot was weighing on him.
As if sensing this, his auntie cupped his cheek again, whispering, “There is no rush in this, Shang-Chi. You have time.”
He nodded slowly. “...okay.”
She smiled, dropping her hand before walking away and leaving him on the shoreline again, alone with his thoughts.
Tumblr media
A little over a week later, Wong approached you in your study. Sitting across from you, fresh tea between you both, he took a breath. “I have news and a new mission for you.”
“Two in one? You’ve piqued my curiosity,” you replied.
“The earthquake that happened? I found out what caused it,” he stated. The man, a master to you, above you by every count except for knowledge of history, sighed and you realized he looked troubled, worried almost.
Setting your tea cup down, you asked softly, “What was it?”
Wong launched into a story, about a man named Shang-Chi who now held an item (or items, but they came as one most of the time) called The Ten Rings. These rings held immense power, and as soon as this man put on the rings (given to him by his father), Kamar-Taj had shaken, and a beacon started emitting. Wong himself couldn’t tell how old the rings were from, let alone anything about them, neither could Carol Danvers nor Bruce Banner.
Which was not good news.
You had worked with the other Avengers, being not-dusted along with Wong after Thanos. You had helped the other Avengers during those years, and so for both of them to be unsure about these rings meant they were either more powerful than any of you expected, or something out of even Thanos’s reach.
“That’s not good…”
“If the boy and his friend could handle what they did, and what they told me in this other world, then they will be alright for now,” Wong replied.
“So…I guess I’m confused- what is this mission you want to send me on then?”
“I want you to go to San Fransisco, work with Shang-Chi on the rings,” he stated. Taking his cup, he took another sip of his tea. “If anyone here can research and work on the rings, it’s you.”
“I-I appreciate the vote of confidence, but- if you, Carol, and Bruce can’t, then-”
“We looked at the rings for less than an hour, Y/N,” Wong interrupted. “You would be there for an extended period of time. As long as you’d need, or until we all agree that it is entirely impossible.”
“But I’m the main historian here, what if-”
“If we need you, we have sling rings, I can come to you,” Wong stated. “But your training with Wren is almost complete, this is an opportunity for them to show that.”
He stared at you for a moment, and you knew he could see your uneasiness, your nerves at this idea. You had done work like this before, but not at this scale and not at this importance before, not without guidance from your own master or the Ancient One.
“You can do this. I have no doubt in your skills,” he stated, in the way he did that somehow imbued people with confidence. If anyone else spoke the way he did, it wouldn’t work, but it did with him.
“...okay.” You took a deep breath, pulling back your shoulders. “Okay, I’ll do it.”

You glanced down at the note in your palm, content to see you were at the right address. Tucking the note in your pocket, you knocked on the door. “Coming!” a male voice called.
You gnawed on your lip as you waited for the door to swing open, and as it did, you swore your heart skipped a beat. Shang-Chi was gorgeous, with sweeping black hair, a chiseled jaw, and kind yet piercing eyes that seemed to notice every detail of you in a second. “Hi,” you greeted softly. “Are you Shang-Chi?”
“...yes?” he replied, his eyebrows furrowing. He tensed slowly, his hand holding the door closing into a fist. “Who’s asking?”
You held out the note Wong had written, the Sorcerer symbol embedded in the wax that sealed it. “I’m Y/N. Wong sent me, this explains it all.”
As he took the letter, a woman appeared by his side, looking you over, a confused scowl on her face. “Wong sent you?” she asked, before looking at Shang-Chi. “What’s going on?”
He had opened the letter and was clearly reading it, glancing up at you every few lines. He stepped aside then, leaving you space between him and his friend. “Come on in.”
You gave him a polite smile, stepping inside.

Shang-Chi watched as Y/N set her teacup down. The three had been talking for a while now, and to his surprise, he had been fidgeting with his compass out of nerves. This whole situation, the idea that the rings his father had all those centuries were even more dangerous was…not a nice thought. It was strange to know that this soul mate compass was a comfort.
Once he and Katy had gotten home, he had explained the compass to his best friend. They had discovered that here on Earth it was pointing in a specific direction, meaning his soul mate was here, the question was where. But they were smart, and after some time and the compass barely moving, they had figured out that it meant whoever it was had to be far away or barely moved; if the direction of the compass didn’t move a lot, that meant longer distance.
But, if he was honest with himself, the idea of having a soul mate still scared him. So he was content, at the moment, to just have the compass. Maybe someday he would find this person.
The woman glanced at Katy as Katy spoke. “So you’re just gonna…live here until you figure out the rings?” Katy asked.
“No,” the sorcerer laughed. “I’m not here to ruin or impact your lives too much. Granted yes, I am here for the rings, so I will need time with them, but…” Her eyes flickered to Shang-Chi. “I’m not living with you or stalking you.”
He chuckled. “Appreciate that.”
At his laugh, her smile grew. “Of course. We can schedule time, to make it easier for you.” She stood then, taking the tea tray. “Let me put this away for you.”
“Oh, you don’t have to,” Katy said, standing as well.
“I want to,” Y/N insisted, moving towards the kitchen space.
Katy followed, letting the argument about cleaning die immediately. “So you’re like, a magician?”
“I….you can call it that, I suppose.”
Shang-Chi flipped open the compass open, glancing down at it. He froze as he saw the arrow move, more than it had since getting back to San Fransisco.
Looking up, partially out of instinct, he realized that Y/N had moved in the same direction the arrow had. Glancing between her and the compass, he quickly realized the compass in his palm was following her the way a normal one would north.
Y/N was his soul mate.
Fuck.
Snapping it shut immediately, he pushed the thought out of his head as he saw her and Katy turn back to him, the sorcerer meeting his eyes. “Do you have time this afternoon?” she asked.
“Huh?” he replied.
“To…look at the rings?”
“Oh! Oh, yeah. yes, totally.” He stood, nodding. “Let me grab them.”
Katy raised her eyebrows, giving him her usual expression asking if he was okay. He responded with his expression of “later”, moving to the box he kept the rings in while at home.
This would all be…interesting.

"I wouldn't settle for anything less."
Pairing: Shang-Chi x GN!Reader
Tumblr media
Type: Fluff
Warnings: mild swearing
Summary: You were acquainted to Shaun in a very unexpected way. It was on a bus, you were exhausted from a long day at work. As you miss your stop due to your slumber, the young man proposes something to your half-awake self. This leads to the start of something life changing. ______________________________________________________________
The first time you met Shaun was quite... interesting, to say the least. You could barely remember that faithful day. You were so tired, he had to wake you up during the bus ride to make sure you didn't miss your stop. He sat next to you every day, even though you were a complete stranger to him. He did know one thing about you, though; your bus stop. He tried to wake you up before the stop, but it was too late: you slumbered on the public transport too much. As he was tapping your shoulder, you finally woke up from your nap, still half-asleep.
"Hey, uh... you kind of missed your bus stop..." he tells you quielty, which immediately wakes you up. As you look around, realizing that you did indeed miss your bus stop, you whisper to yourself: "Oh, for fuck's sake." The young man closes his phone and proposes a solution to you. "If you want, my stop is not far from yours and you could sleep at my place tonight. I have a spare bed and I could drive you home tomorrow morning." Barely awake and exhausted from your day at work, you reply in the most subtle manner known to man, but somehow loud enough for Shaun to hear. "Yeah, sure, that sounds great." you yawn, as you rest on his shoulder.
______________________________________________________________
You wake up to the sound of birds singing and to the smell of crackling bacon. You stand up, still in yesterday's clothes and try to recognize the room you're currently situated in: it's completely unkown to you. You decide to get out of bed and head for the stairs when you suddenly hear footsteps: it's the boy from yesterday.
"Oh, hey, I didn't know you were awake. I was going to have breakfast. You're welcome to join if you want." he says, not realizing he's literally shirtless in front of you. You took a quick second to admire his amazing body before you nod in agreement. As he walks to his room, you interrupt him: "Hey, uh, I never got to thank you" you say as he quickly turns around and smiles at you. "Oh, it's no problem, really. By the way, I never got your name." Realizing you were never officially acquainted, you giggle nervously. "Ah, yeah... uh... I'm Y/N." As he heads to his room, he replies: "I'm Shaun. Nice to meet you."
Shaun notices as you anxiously eat breakfast. "You ok?" he asks, concerned. "Oh, it's nothing. I was just wondering how I ended up here. I have like, no idea what happened yesterday." you explain while stumbling over your words. "Ah, I see." he says after taking a bite. "Well, you fell fast aleep on the bus. I didn't want to wake you up, so I picked you up. I also got your stuff" he explains as he points to your bag lying on the couch. "You picked me up... like... damsel in distress style?" you ask, smiling like a complete idiot, hiding your cheek. "Yeah.", he replies softly, blushing, earning a little laugh from you. He continues explaining: "After that, I put you to bed and made sure you were as comfortable as possible." he says while slightly hiding his face. You thank him before standing up and asking where the bathroom is. He points to a door as you head that way.
______________________________________________________________
You thank Shaun for the night and the ride as you arrive to your place.
"Hey, maybe we can hang out when I'm fully conscious sometime." you propose while smirking.
"Yeah, that sounds great." he answers. "Do you have a phone number?"
"Yeah, I do." you say before spelling it out as he notes it down on his phone.
"Thanks, Shaun." you thank him again after kissing his cheek. "See you later!"
"Bye, Y/N!"
When you close the door behind you, he whispers to himself:
"Shit, I think I'm in love."
______________________________________________________________
"Hey." you say awkwardly as you open the door.
"Hey." he replies as awkwardly.
You both chuckle before he comes into your place, handing you flowers. "Shaun... you shouldn't have." you say while smiling like an idiot. Shaun chuckles and kisses you on the forehead. You've been gashlighting yourself into believing you didn't have a crush on him until today. Now, you fully embrace it. "I love you, Shaun." you whisper to him. He smiles. "I love you too." he responds holding both of your shoulders gently. "Also, call me Shang-Chi." You run through his hair before sharing a kiss. You pull away slowly. "Movies?" you ask with a slight smirk. "Movies." Shang-Chi says, chuckling.
______________________________________________________________
You fell alseep on his shoulder during the movies. This reminds him of the time you first met, on that bus. As he holds your hand, he whispers to your slumbering self.
"I love you, Y/N. I always did and I always will."

Another Spring Request
27. Allergies with Shang-Chi
Happy Writing
A/N - AWWWW, I love this Stella! Thanks for requesting a cute Shang Chi prompt, bestie!
Summary - Shang loved the spring. You on the other hand, hate it.
Tumblr media
Warnings - Only some fluff!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"How are you feeling?"
"Like shit,"
"Shouldn't have asked,"
You blew your nose and tossed the ruined tissue into the waste bin next to your bed, then you reached over to use some nasal spray. Shang was sitting on the edge of your bed with an amused tone. Your nose was red and runny, your eyes glossy and tears threatening to come out from constant sneezing, and the perfect afternoon that Shang planned out was ruined.
All thanks to your allergies.
You two barely started dating, only for a month, and you still have that new relationship feeling between the pair of you. Katy was the one who got you two together, and she was immensely proud that you two were an official item. Shang was shy when he asked you out on a date, which was nothing rather big but a trip to a food truck parking lot and then a small trolley ride to one of his favorite parks.
He wanted it nice and simple, a great tip he got from Katy since he asked her plenty of questions about you and what you liked. You found it quite sweet that he wanted to do his research through Katy,, and once he confessed that to you, a blush was on his cheeks.
You kissed his cheek in return, almost having him pass out cold.
But now that Spring that came to the city, Shang wanted to take you out to the flowers that just bloomed right outside of the major city. You thought it was a great idea until you got hit with your allergies halfway through the date.
Thank goodness for Shang being considerate and taking you right home.
"Katy should be back with your medicine," Shang said as he looked at his phone for the time.
"I can manage with my nose drops for now," You pressured him as you sat up in your bed and rubbed your tired eyes, "I've had worse when I was younger,"
"I still feel bad, and you told me you had allergies," Shang said in a remorseful tone as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously. You gave him a grin, seeing the torn look on his face and wishing to brighten his spirits.
"For the fact that we've been only dating for a month, I won't hold this one against you. Now the next time this happens, I will," You teased, Shang giving you a small look. You had to smile at the situation since you knew that this was a simple allergy that would happen to you constantly.
"Shang, it's gonna be okay," You said to him calmly, "You did good with the flower fields. I just didn't take my medicine beforehand, and I tend to forget to do that a lot,"
"I know, I just wanted to make it special and perfect," Shang explained, you raised an eyebrow at him.
"Since when do I want perfect?" You questioned, seeing him pause and freeze as you went on, "Perfection is boring! There's nothing truly good and joyful that comes from being perfect."
Shang paused, drinking in what you told him as you grinned and leaned back against your pillows. You only heard some of his background and childhood, and you knew he was always under pressure even as a little boy. Although he did leave some big pieces of his life out from your talks and conversations, you knew he would tell you in his own time. But you knew Shang knew all about perfection and striving for it. And maybe hearing you tell him not to be perfect with you, shook his core for a moment.
"I hate perfection," You reminded him calmly, "I just want you. And I would hope you'd want me, allergies and all,"
Shang had to chuckle at how you were attempting to break him out of his mind racing and his low mood.
"It's true! My allergies are so bad in the Spring, not to mention how I can't take on spicey food for the life of me. And flowers, don't get me anywhere near roses! I would take peonies and daisies any day,"
"Good to know," Shang replied in his light tone, the burden was finally lifted off of him, "And just so you know, I want you too,"
"I'm glad we're on the same page," You hummed, Shang leaning in to kiss you as you were ready for him. But you sneezed right before he could, Shang dodging the sneeze just in time as you groaned and blew your nose again.
"I promise to try and not kill you on our next date. We're going to go to the movies," Shang said in a chuckle.
The End.
