The Golden Dagger Club
Tumblr media
Pairing: Shang-chi x symbiote!reader
Word Count: 2145
You were just starting to repair the damages of a recuperating career and then the Blip happened. You were dusted away for five years and appeared back into your shitty apartment – your old shitty apartment that was occupied by someone else – and were left with nothing. Your clothing and furniture were all thrown away and your renewed show was trashed because everyone still alive was trying to cope with the loss of loved ones.
To those that stayed, you were considered lucky. Is it lucky to have nothing to come back to? The banks refused to help and getting any loans needed minimum of five years of income. Obviously that’s impossible as you were dusted for all five of those years making the institution useless. No one was willing to hire either as you were often overqualified or lacked any recent experience in the workforce.
Unlike some of the others who also disappeared, you didn’t have a family to help you adapt to the new culture that flourished whilst you were gone. There was still a semblance of the old but you were on your own.
Waiting was the worst. The United Nations were scrambling to provide provisions, documents, and other essentials for those who came back. It was a real shit show and at times, made you wish you never came back.
You had to worry about scavenging enough food for Venom or else it’s your organs that’ll be on the menu and you want your organs to remain intact and uneaten. You also don’t want to watch Venom bite someone’s head off again. You had to work fast as Venom was most likely going to starve and the government wasn’t working fast enough.
You heard murmurs of an underground tournament that pays very well for winning contestants. You weren’t a stranger of questionably immoral activities. You and Venom needed this. It was a saving grace in the waiting game of darkness. The United Nations were behind on provisions and housings, and you couldn’t wait for the miracle of them hurrying along the process.
So you left. The world didn’t need to know you were back, undusted and alive. It had moved on without you and there was no point in sticking around. The world would believe you were the unlucky ones to be at the wrong place during the Snap.
The world would get to learn of the existence of Venom, see the both of you as more than a blurry black figure from security cameras. See the two of you reappear after your hiatus. Your reappearance will be on that podium, hundred of eyes on you, seeing you, and cheering for you.
You had arrived to your brand new start. A new beginning to the end of a shitty chapter. “Welcome to the Golden Daggers Club! We’re a multi-platform global operation. Every fight live streamed on the dark web. Thousands of viewers placing bets as we speak.” The ringmaster, Jon Jon, explained as he handed you the sign up sheet. You read carefully, not wanting to be screwed over in the end, and when you deemed everything acceptable you signed on. It was fast and easy. Pen on paper and suddenly a new door opened.
There must’ve been hundreds of people in the unfinished building. Small cells, containing smaller fights, lead up to the giant podium where the grander fights and higher betting stakes take place. Within the club, you had to earn your place. Starting in those small cells and work your way up to become a favorite.
Your first opponent was no one memorable. They were enhanced to some degree but nothing remotely close to be able to take the two of you down. It was almost too easy but Venom adored the attention they’d garnered. On the other side of the cell were many onlookers, wanting to see more of the alien creature. It was itching more for fights, more advanced opponents, and scoring chocolate money. The club loved Venom. The fame and attention caught the curiosity of the club’s founder.
Xu Xialing was cold, complex, and a fighter. Her coldness was strictly targeted to men but once she saw the person beneath Venom, she’d lighten up around the two of you. You became her friend. You’d learn bits and pieces of her past while you shared yours. She’d given you a chance to start anew even if she didn’t know it. You felt like you owed her for providing a way to provide for Venom in a way your old job couldn’t. You and Venom took it upon yourselves to take out the trash, people who were trying to shut her operation down. The club meant so much to people and you didn’t want anyone to shit on the empire she’d built.
It was a night like any other. Bets were placed and the money just kept coming. The bar was filled as always and Venom was itching for its turn. “Take it easy on the chocolates, it’s about to be your turn.” You were currently watching the fight between Abomination, who was broken out of prison by his opponent, and the current Sorcerer Supreme, Wong. Wong seemed overwhelmed at first but managed to get Abomination to punch themselves.
“I’ve worked up an appetite.” Venom grunted as they bit the whole chocolate bar in its entirety. You could feel it buzzing with excitement.
Wong had won his fight and you were walking towards the main stage. “Doing what, sitting?” You replied as Venom’s pitch black skin covered you fully. Your thin arms concealed by its large muscles and build. No one in the crowd would ever guess who was underneath its skin.
The name of your opponent was called Flux. You had seen his fights before, seen him climb up ranks. You nor Venom were worried though. You’d let Venom take full control as it was its moment not yours. Venom tore onto the stage, hyping up the crowd, and waited for the fight to begin. The lights, the cheers, and the overwhelming anticipation riddled your being. It was exhilarating and you couldn’t wait for Venom to have the time of its life.
Flux wasn’t overpowered by much. Having superhuman strength, stamina and durability assists in keeping up with you and Venom. You’d been lucky no one has caught on to your weaknesses. As Venom controlled your body, you thought about how different your life had become and how thankful you were for being the right match for Venom. Feeling the immense happiness originating from it makes you happy. You knew Venom felt miserable hidden within your body, not allowed to stretch till night fell. Here in the club, it didn’t matter. Almost every fighter had some enhancement that made them different from everyone else. Had skills most didn’t possess.
Once the fight was over, the club’s staff members dragged Flux away towards the locker room. Venom, after celebrating its win with the crowd, followed afterwards. A giant teeth-filled grin dwelled on its face until its skin disappeared into your body.
You opened your designated locker and pulled out a box of chocolates and a 12 pack of diet soda. Opening them one by one you feed Venom by placing them into its mouth and congratulating them on its win while you consume the diet soda. In moments like these Venom resembled a puppy. Craved for your attention and wanted to feel loved.
You’d notice Jon Jon speaking to someone you’d only seen on your phone. The Bus Boy video that’s been dominating the internet. Venom had dismissed the guy as he wasn’t anything special except for maybe his delicious brain but you didn’t want to find out.
“[Reader], Venom,” Jon Jon yelled, “the boss wants to talk!” The guy next to him watched curiously at the Venom head appearing out of your side.
“If anyone steals even one chocolate or soda, I’ll bite your head off and feast on your organs.” Venom made sure to show off its teeth to the remaining contenders before going to Xialing’s office. You sat down on a chair waiting for her to arrive. Jon Jon left the dubbed Bus Boy in her office as well. He stayed standing, not knowing what to do. He was nervous, that was evident, and a bit awkward.
“Do you know who we are supposed to meet?” He didn’t know how to talk to you or Venom. If he were being honest, Venom kinda scared him. The threats given did not help at all. “I need to find my sister. Do you know her, Xu Xialing?” You noticed he kept a white tissue around his nostrils. The metallic smell of blood allowed you to know the reason why.
You stayed quiet not knowing the reason as to why he was asking. Knowing he was in her workplace, she’ll show herself eventually.
She walked in, taking her place behind her laptop.
“You run this place?” He talked in Mandarin.
“I own it.” She replied back.
Another woman was let in by Jon Jon, counting the stack of cash as she walked into the room. She was adorable when she was caught red handed. Having bet against the man, her friend apparently. “Did you bet against me?”
“No.” She lied. “I bet on that Venom dude earlier.” In an attempt to change the subject, she turned the attention on you and Xialing, “Hi Xialing and stranger. I’m Katy. You’re, like, such a badass. Everything that you do is, like, so cool. That was really cool.” She walked towards one of the seats next to her friend, which you still did not have a name for.
“This is [Reader].” Xialing replied, “The Venom dude from earlier.”
Katy gasped excitedly, “No way! I thought Venom had more muscles. Love the costume by the way. What fabric do you use?” She shook your hand frantically and laughed, “Your fight was so amazing. You made me a lot of money.”
You had never integrated with someone who had so much shameless confidence. She had seen you and Venom fight and she was treating you like a hero. Most run away at the sight of the two of you. It was a nice change of scenery. “Alien, I guess? Venom come out and say ‘hello’ to a fellow fan.”
“A fan…” He muttered as he moved his head towards her, “So unafraid, so courageous. You shall not be eaten.”
She chuckled nervously, “Thank you.”
“I like your pants.” Xialing turned the conversation towards herself.
Katy blushed, “Thank you. Thanks. Yeah.” She was obviously flattered by the compliment as she smoothed out her yellow pants.
“What do you want?” The coldness of Xialing's voice appeared suddenly. A certain sharpness you had never heard, finally making its existence known.
“The Ten Rings ambushed us in San Francisco.” San Francisco was the place where you once lived. The tomb of the life you once had.
“I saw the video.” Everyone had seen the video. It became a viral phenomenon which was rare as it raced against hero and alien sightings, and meet and greets with international heroes.
“They took my pendant. They’re gonna come for yours next.” You had learned about the pendant Xialing never took off as it was a gift from her mother. To learn he shared the same or similar pendant must mean only one thing. “I don’t know what he wants with them, but we both know it can’t be good.”
“You know what he said to me when he left?” You heard this story only once. It was a painful memory of abandonment and the loss of a sibling. Not in death, but in spirit. Lost of hope while living in the fragments of an once happy family. “‘I’ll be back in three days.’ And after three days, I went to our mom’s shrine and waited. Three days turned into a week, a week turned to a month, and a month turned to six years. That’s how long it took me to realize I didn’t need him any more. I built this place on my own. I didn’t need you then, and I don’t need you now.”
“I volunteer to eat him.” Venom liked Xialing. She snuck chocolates to it and was the first person, who wasn’t [Reader], to not be afraid of it. She gave you and it a home. “I’ll make it painful.” He licked his lips to scare Xialing’s brother even more.
Xialing smiled at Venom. It was the thought that counted and Venom meant well. He inched away from you and asked, “Then why would you send me the postcard?”
“What postcard?”
He got up from his seat and reached into his pockets. He slowly walked towards her before handing it to her.
“I didn’t send you this.” After she spoke those words, everything went to shit.

Tumblr media
Was this how death was supposed to be? A life-changing interaction within a second that blinds you until all you see is black, and every sound you hear fades away into nothing. The desperate cry of your husband, the shouts of rage and anguish from your friends, a shocked gasp, all preceded by the sound of something ripping through the air before you were gone.
Was this really death? Was it just nothing?
Not yet.
Your body collapsed to the ground, leaving this other version of you to release a cry with a smile on her face. It was part delighted and overjoyed for having bested you, and part relieved to no longer be exerting so much power and force. However, her relief could only last so long. She straightened up quickly when she felt vibrations charging in her direction.
Charging towards her was Shangqi. Tears stained his cheeks as your body hit the ground in a lifeless heap. The rings on his arms were glowing brightly, every step he took thundering on the ground as he charged this variant of you with one intent: to put her into the ground the way she had done to you.
Sliding in front of Shangqi, Natasha dropped to the ground quickly with the intent to sweep his legs out from under him and knock him over. He jumped over her leg sweep and continued running, preparing to use his rings to launch him into the air to deliver a devastating blow reminiscent of when he faced the Dweller-in-Darkness.  However, Natasha threw her escrima stick at the back of his knee and made him stumble, giving her just enough time to run towards him and tackle him.
“What are you doing?” He shouted as he fought with Natasha until he was able to kick her off. “She has to be stopped! She killed Y/N!”
“I’m doing what Y/N would’ve wanted!” Natasha replied, getting back up and stepping in front of Shangqi, weapons raised high as she lowered herself into a fighting stance.
Shangqi was stunned. How could she? Maybe she wasn’t the Natasha from this universe, but how could she do this to you? How could she step in his way when all he wanted to do was avenge your death?
“Y/N wanted her gone,” Shangqi whispered. “You won’t stop me.”
“Y/N wants you alive, above anything,” Natasha replied. “And I’m going to follow through.”
“Then good luck stopping me,” Shangqi replied.
There was no way Shangqi could possibly care any less about his life at the moment. It didn’t matter. To him, you were gone. You being gone? What was left? You were supposed to start a family. You were supposed to go on vacations together, do cheesy, touristy things, grow your family, live out a long, happy life together where you got to rest and he took up the responsibility of defending the world, the responsibility you and others had for years.
Shangqi and Natasha were locked in a fight against each other, all the while, Steve was rushing forward with an attack. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing ,double of you fighting each other to the death, all because he was being selfish because he wanted another chance.
Steve sprinted right past the fight happening amongst teammates and leapt into the air. Your variant blasted Steve out of the sky, his shield absorbing some of the damage, but not stopping him from being knocked back. It served as a fine distraction for the rest of them.
A portal opened behind her, and Bucky’s arm reached through Doctor Strange’s portal to grab her shoulder. Expecting this, she whirled around and grabbed Bucky’s metal arm. She smirked while Bucky looked shocked for a second. As he tried to yank his arm away from her, she laughed.
“How much can that arm withstand, James?” She raised an eyebrow while Bucky frowned.
Bucky raised his right arm to punch her, and she immediately grabbed his forearm and sent a powerful enough vibration to break it, causing him to shout in pain. Bucky fought through the pain and raised his knee to her stomach, but, once again, she blasted his knee, shattering the bone and sending him to the ground. She leaned down and detached Bucky’s arm, looking up quickly when she felt something from the sky.
Sam was flying towards her just as Steve was running at her again. Steve threw the shield at her, which she deflected. Sam swooped in and caught the shield as planned before flying towards her in what would’ve been a devastating nosedive. However, using Bucky’s arm, she threw it comically, like it was a spear, using her powers to send it through Sam’s wings and send him spiraling towards the ground.
Luckily for Sam, Stephen quickly shut his portal after moving Bucky back out of it, and sent his cloak to catch Sam in the air.
Your variant looked around her. She was losing strength quickly, and she still had so much to do. She could end it all now, kill this universe’s Avengers, but it would ruin her plans, put too much attention on her when all she wanted was to have a loving, happy family. Taking a few steps back, she aimed her palms down to the ground and pushed herself into the air.
“Where is she going?” Shangqi shouted, shoving Natasha away from him. “God, damn it!”
“The lake house is that way,” Steve breathed. “She’s going after Tony—“
“She’s going after Morgan,” Natasha corrected him. “We gotta go. Clint can catch up.”
Steve looked around and spotted Sam on the ground, “Sam—“
“I got Bucky,” Sam nodded, glancing over to the man in agony. “We’ll set his bones before they heal incorrectly.”
“I’ll get Dr. Banner,” Stephen said, glancing around. “We need the big guns now.”
“We can’t risk the Hulk destroying the house. Morgan’s just a kid, she shouldn’t see that,” Steve reasoned with the group. “But we need to catch up with her now before she tricks them. Who knows what she’ll do.”
“The good news is she’s losing strength. She can’t take on all of us, not forever,” Natasha explained.
“Are you done?” Shangqi snapped. “Enough talking. We need to go now. I won’t let them hurt my family.”
His family. That’s right. Steve stared at Shangqi for a few seconds and thought about it. They really were his family now. Morgan, his little sister (even though she called him uncle) his father- and mother-in-law, they were all his family now, and Shangqi just lost his wife. If your variant took the rest of your family from him, well, Steve wondered if this Shangqi would seem more like his evil counterpart than anyone could have imagined.
They took off towards the lake house just as Clint was running over to your body. He sighed watching them all disappear, hands resting on his hips as he stared straight ahead. Suddenly appearing next to him, Scott Lang grew to his normal size and took off his helmet as he stared down at you.
“Think it worked?” Scott asked as he took a few deep breaths.
Clint shrugged and reached into his quiver to pull out an arrow with a vial and syringe tip, the syringe filled with a yellow liquid, “Only one way to find out.”
~*~
While they were just forming a plan, your variant was already at her next destination. Landing with a thud, your variant straightened up and dusted herself off. She forced a smile on her face as she walked towards the front door of Tony’s home. It was quiet,  which made sense given how early in the morning it was. Everyone was likely asleep. She shook the smile off of her face quickly, changing her mind on how she wanted to approach this type of situation.
Standing in front of the door, she knocked on it quickly, debating on if it was too bold to just walk in there. After a moment, however, Tony opened the door, staring at her with his eyebrows raised in curiosity, “What’s up, buttercup? It’s late — or early, if you’re looking to get a worm.”
“No worms, just wanted to see my little sister!”
“She’s sleeping,” Tony replied.
“Right.”
“Are you okay? How was the gala?”
She blinked a few times, “Fine, fine! Yeah. I just, I had a fight with Shang. You know how it is when you’re married.”
Tony didn’t let it show, but the second you called him Shang instead of Shangqi, his fears had been confirmed. He sighed and nodded, crossing his arms over his chest as he studied her. “Do you want to come in?”
“Yes, absolutely. I think I need some time to be with my family,” she smiled softly and took a step closer, but Tony didn’t budge. She frowned, “Why aren’t you letting me in?”
“Wanted to see if you really thought I believed you. We both know you’re not my kid.”
A scowled crossed her face as her eyes darkened, “Well, neither is the bitch I left dead in the field,” she replied, smirking as she sensed Tony’s heart skip a beat. “Guess we know who’s stronger, don’t we?”
“You’re not coming in, bitch,” Tony snapped.
“Then I’ll bring the house down but leave little Morgan’s room perfectly in tact. After all, she’s just a kid, and she’ll need someone to look after her, someone like me.”
Tony nodded in agreement as he leaned against the doorframe, tapping it a few times before turning around and walking in. As he slammed the door shut, he shouted, “That’s my kid, not yours. Get lost, you multiverse loser.”
Fuming, she stepped back a few feet. Tony was being difficult. It left her with no choice. She took a few deep breaths, mustering up more strength as she prepared to strategically break this house into smithereens with everyone inside it, all the while trying to make sure Morgan’s room was undamaged.
However, once she saw the front door open again, she figured Tony was coming to fight her. She held her hand out and sent out a blast of vibrations that shattered the doorframe, sending a shower of wood splinters that would surely be a bitch to clean up. She expected Tony to have flown backwards and heard a crash, or at the very least, seen him standing there in shock with a hole in his stomach.
Instead, Tony stepped through the gaping hole  of a front door in a suit of all silver. She was stunned as Tony seemed completely unharmed. His suit didn’t even have a single scratch on it. She stared at him in shock while Tony tilted his head to the side.
He chuckled, “So, you’re stronger, but I guess you’re not smarter, huh, kiddo? Vibranium-laced suits. We’ve made friends with a few people down in Wakanda, in case you were wondering.”
Suddenly, there was a feral shrieking noise in the distance. Coming out of the sky was you. You landed with a mighty thud on the ground, similar to how your counterpart had moments ago. You stood up tall, eyes glowing the brightest gold they ever had in the past. You were huffing and puffing, the ground trembling beneath you as you cracked your neck and stared at your counterpart.
“I killed you,” she hissed. “Your heart stopped beating. I felt it.”
“Oh, okay.” You nodded quickly. “My turn then, I guess.”
The other Avengers arrived just as you went to attack, but they didn’t engage in the fight when they saw you. All of them were far too stunned. Tony went back into the house to get Pepper and Morgan and clear the area. Shangqi stood there as stunned as the rest of them.  They watched you leap forward, hands outstretched in front of you and a look of rage on your face they hadn’t seen before.
“This is my life,” you snapped. “Not yours!”
Her hand came up to block your attack, but it didn’t work. You were so strong, your vibrations overpowered hers, shattering her hand on impact. She screamed in agony and raised her other hand, her powers shoving you back and started to splinter your bones from within. You screamed and stomped your foot on the ground. The ground ripped in half beneath her and sent her stumbling back.
While she was stumbling, you stared at her and raised your fist like you were going to stop your heart. She was expecting this move from you, and she jumped into the air to try to make some distance and keep you from doing this. Figuring that she was going to try and run, you jumped in the air with her and grabbed her.
Your fist ripped through her chest.  You grabbed her heart in your hand and squeezed it yourself until you felt it popping and squishing between your fingers. You watched the life drain out of your own eyes, the soft golden glow from her fading away into nothing as you let her go and let her body fall on the ground.
You landed in front of her, the force of your landing splintering the legs on an already-dead body. You stood up slowly and looked down at your hands. One arm was coated in blood thanks to her, but you could see both your forearms were bruised and shaking like when you were a child and tried to hold back all your power. You glanced at your bicep on your right and saw the bruises were traveling, meaning the power in you was a struggle to contain.
But you were so angry.
You knew this was going to happen. You knew, and yet, you still felt incredibly unprepared. You flirted with death and killed yourself to save your family, but you couldn’t stop shaking and causing havoc around you. This should’t have been happening to you, because you shouldn’t even be alive right now.
As the panic set in, the realization of your ferocity, that you were alive, your control slipped away. Cracks started racing to the house, splitting the porch in half before more cracks began to form along the walls. The ground beneath you wouldn’t stop rumbling as the earth started to break  beneath you and spread to towards the lake.
“It’s happening again,” Steve shouted. “Tony!”
“On it!” Tony was about to take a step towards you, but Morgan grabbed his hand.
He looked down as Morgan looked up at him, “Please don’t die again, daddy.”
Tony’s shoulders sunk. It was a very real possibility that he could die. He hadn’t actually tested the suit against you. He wasn’t sure how much it could withstand, which meant that he had no idea how long he had. He exhaled slowly and squeezed her hand, “I won’t, Morguna. I’ll be right back. I just have to talk to your sister —“
“She’s going to kill you!” Morgan screeched in fear.
Tony didn’t have the chance to move. You heard Morgan’s cries and whipped around. When you made eye contact with her, you were frozen in pain. Morgan was terrified of you, and it made you feel so much worse. The panic, the feelings of dread you were feeling caused you to lose another ounce of control, and it split the house down the middle.
Natasha exhaled and grabbed Scott and Clint by their elbows, “What the hell did you two idiots do?”
“It’s an old contingency plan,” Clint reasoned, his adam’s apple bobbing as everyone slowly started to turn to face him. “Vibranium tipped arrow. It was…well, supposed to kill her or maim her when she got too crazy. It’s a last-resort arrow.”
“You killed her?” Shangqi snapped.
“Not quite,” Scott spoke up. “We used it as a delivery system for me. It was dark, you can barely see the arrow when it’s flying. I was on the tip, and we dosed her up with enough of a little simple syrup — that’s a joke, it wasn’t simple syrup —“
“To stop her heart,” Clint said. “And then we brought her back with some adrenaline and a few more things.”
“What things?” Steve glared as he marched towards him. “What the hell is she on? Why do you even have this?”
“Don’t look at me! Tony made it after Ultron! She almost killed herself in that fight she was so exhausted. He wanted her to have a little boost for the event she’s, uh, fading too much in battle.”
“So you put a relatively unstable woman on steroids,” Stephen deadpanned. “Fantastic.”
Shangqi looked around. These people were actually scared and unsure of what to do, but it was you. It was just you, deep down inside there, and he’d seen this before. You were scared, you were panicking. Okay, you were causing a bit more chaos, but…
“Okay. The lake is now moving,” Clint cleared his throat. “I’ll talk to her—“
“No,” Shangqi dropped the rings from his forearms. “I’ve got it.”
He sidestepped Natasha quickly. Before she could stop him, he was walking towards you and feeling the ground shake anymore. He cringed, a twinge of pain racing up his foot as he approached you. You could hear a new, closer heartbeat, and you turned to Shangqi.
“Get away,” you cautioned him. “Something’s , something’s not right and I —“
“I know. Don’t worry.”
“I’m dead. Right?” You breathed. “This is just a dream?”
“Sorry, you’re stuck with me for the long-haul, babe,” Shangqi smiled softly at you, hands stuffed into his pockets. “So what’s say we head back to the compound, shower, talk.”
“Shangqi..” you trailed off and looks to your corpse. “I’m a monster.”
“What? That? No! Pffft, I would’ve done it myself,” he joked, but you weren’t laughing. “Babe come on —“
“My sister is terrified of me, I destroyed her home, and even I’m shocked with what I just did to her.”
“You’re still my wife,” Shangqi said softly. “You’re still my wife, who I will stay with until the very end. If you want to stay here and destroy everything, do it,” he cringed when he was certain he felt his ankle snap from the vibrations on the ground constantly drumming on his bones. He put his weight on his other leg, and you frowned when you realized what you were doing to him, what he was willing to do for you. “So, if this is the end…I’m here.”
“You’re crazy.”
“Crazy for you,” He grinned. “You’re okay. Everyone’s okay. Scared? Probably. You’re scary, but you’re hot when you’re scary, so that’s something, right?”
You laughed in disbelief and shook your head, “You are so stupid.”
“Yeah, but I’m your stupid husband,” he smiled at you and outstretched his hand, ignoring how he could see his fingertips started to bruise and turn red and purple. “Come on, babe. It’s just me. You can relax now. It’s over. You can rest now.”
You focused on your breathing first. You slowed it down until you were confident you had it under control without focusing so much on it. You shut your eyes and worked on stopping all of the vibrations and the shaking.
You weren’t sure when it happened, but, eventually, it stopped. You felt a hand take yours, and you opened your eyes to see Shangqi staring at you, slowly leaning in to press his forehead against yours. His eyes shut as he too finally relaxed. He exhaled, his breath catching in his chest as tears fell from his closed eyes and his other hand came up to cup your face, “I thought you were gone.”
You nodded and leaned into his hand, “Me too.” You exhaled, “Shangqi,”
“Yeah?”
“I can’t do this anymore.”

Another Spring Request
27. Allergies with Shang-Chi
Happy Writing
A/N - AWWWW, I love this Stella! Thanks for requesting a cute Shang Chi prompt, bestie!
Summary - Shang loved the spring. You on the other hand, hate it.
Tumblr media
Warnings - Only some fluff!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"How are you feeling?"
"Like shit,"
"Shouldn't have asked,"
You blew your nose and tossed the ruined tissue into the waste bin next to your bed, then you reached over to use some nasal spray. Shang was sitting on the edge of your bed with an amused tone. Your nose was red and runny, your eyes glossy and tears threatening to come out from constant sneezing, and the perfect afternoon that Shang planned out was ruined.
All thanks to your allergies.
You two barely started dating, only for a month, and you still have that new relationship feeling between the pair of you. Katy was the one who got you two together, and she was immensely proud that you two were an official item. Shang was shy when he asked you out on a date, which was nothing rather big but a trip to a food truck parking lot and then a small trolley ride to one of his favorite parks.
He wanted it nice and simple, a great tip he got from Katy since he asked her plenty of questions about you and what you liked. You found it quite sweet that he wanted to do his research through Katy,, and once he confessed that to you, a blush was on his cheeks.
You kissed his cheek in return, almost having him pass out cold.
But now that Spring that came to the city, Shang wanted to take you out to the flowers that just bloomed right outside of the major city. You thought it was a great idea until you got hit with your allergies halfway through the date.
Thank goodness for Shang being considerate and taking you right home.
"Katy should be back with your medicine," Shang said as he looked at his phone for the time.
"I can manage with my nose drops for now," You pressured him as you sat up in your bed and rubbed your tired eyes, "I've had worse when I was younger,"
"I still feel bad, and you told me you had allergies," Shang said in a remorseful tone as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously. You gave him a grin, seeing the torn look on his face and wishing to brighten his spirits.
"For the fact that we've been only dating for a month, I won't hold this one against you. Now the next time this happens, I will," You teased, Shang giving you a small look. You had to smile at the situation since you knew that this was a simple allergy that would happen to you constantly.
"Shang, it's gonna be okay," You said to him calmly, "You did good with the flower fields. I just didn't take my medicine beforehand, and I tend to forget to do that a lot,"
"I know, I just wanted to make it special and perfect," Shang explained, you raised an eyebrow at him.
"Since when do I want perfect?" You questioned, seeing him pause and freeze as you went on, "Perfection is boring! There's nothing truly good and joyful that comes from being perfect."
Shang paused, drinking in what you told him as you grinned and leaned back against your pillows. You only heard some of his background and childhood, and you knew he was always under pressure even as a little boy. Although he did leave some big pieces of his life out from your talks and conversations, you knew he would tell you in his own time. But you knew Shang knew all about perfection and striving for it. And maybe hearing you tell him not to be perfect with you, shook his core for a moment.
"I hate perfection," You reminded him calmly, "I just want you. And I would hope you'd want me, allergies and all,"
Shang had to chuckle at how you were attempting to break him out of his mind racing and his low mood.
"It's true! My allergies are so bad in the Spring, not to mention how I can't take on spicey food for the life of me. And flowers, don't get me anywhere near roses! I would take peonies and daisies any day,"
"Good to know," Shang replied in his light tone, the burden was finally lifted off of him, "And just so you know, I want you too,"
"I'm glad we're on the same page," You hummed, Shang leaning in to kiss you as you were ready for him. But you sneezed right before he could, Shang dodging the sneeze just in time as you groaned and blew your nose again.
"I promise to try and not kill you on our next date. We're going to go to the movies," Shang said in a chuckle.
The End.

This Change in Me 1/6
THEMES AND TRIGGER WARNINGS- affection, characters missing for periods of times
DISCLAIMER- I own no right to any characters or places associated with Marvel
I  had never really thought about all that goes into being a superhero. After all, it’s not like I’m a second grade teacher by day and a crimefighter by night. Beyond the uniform and the spandex is something more, as I am starting to realize- motivation.
Beyond the powers, the serums and the special abilities lies determination- a willingness to take a risk . To fight for what is right, and for those you love.
I’ve never felt that. I’ve always had an admiration for heroes, but never the desire to be one.
Until  a week ago.
‘’How does a whole team,’’ Cassandra begins, her words painted with impatience, Southern accent getting thicker as her dark eyebrows furrow, ‘’just… disappear>’’ Her words contain venom in them, acrylic nails tipping against the metal table as she wants for what we all are waiting for- a real answer.
‘’I’d love to know the same,’’ Rochelle begins, her brown eyes trained on Nick Fury.
In this room are the wives and girlfriends of the Avengers- Pepper Potts-Stark, Rochelle, Wilson , Cassandra Barnes, Laura Barton, and Alicia Rodriguez- Rogers. The girlfriends of Tony Stark, Sam Wilson, James Buchannan ‘’Bucky’’ Barnes, Clint Barton, and Steven Rogers, respectively.
‘’Ladies, I assure you that we are doing everything we can to locate them,’’ Fury attempts, earning himself a scoff from Cassandra.
‘’Would have been a lot easier if we’d gone with the back up system like I’d suggested,’’ Natasha doesn’t even look up from the computer that she is tapping away on, diligently searching for a signal from any of the men,
A week and a half Tony, Sam, Bucky, Clint, and Steve were sent on a mission. Realizing that they needed help, they called in reinforcements. That’s where Peter Parker and my boyfriend, Shang-Chi, come into play.
Shang-Chi and I  have been dating for three years. Him being an Avenger came at no surprise to me. After all, who hadn’t seen the viral video of ‘’bus boy’’? Meeting him and seeing a viral video of him, however, are two different things. Despite his very impressive fighting skills, Shang-Chi is very lovable, very kind, and very dependable. He’s always someone that you can count on, which makes me understand how he was added to the team.
It also  reinforces in my mind, yet again, how a simple day to simply be together and get a little shopping done for my classroom, turned into him getting called on a mission as back-up…
Only for you to find out that he’s missing three and a half days later.
‘’All I know is that I want my husband back, and I want him back now,’’ Alicia informs, ‘’They told you this mission was going to be dangerous, and you insisted without the proper back up. That’s on you. Now fix this mess.’’
The confidence and authority with which Alicia speaks is very much like the way that Steve speaks. It’s  more of a demand than a request, and Fury knows it just as well as I do. Her posture shows confidence and there’s no getting her to back down, which shouldn’t surprise me. After all, Steve met her as she trained new recruits, noting her firm but fair disposition.
At least, that’s what Shang-Chi told me as we made dinner together one night about a year ago, himself invested in the ins and outs of other people’s relationships.
‘’Alicia, we are doing everything er can to locate our team.’’
‘’They should not have been out there in the first place,’’ Pepper reminds, moving to sit next to Natasha, ‘’This is the last known location from three days ago Why weren’t we notificied the minute that they went missing?’’
‘’Do you think we’re going to contact you every single time they go missing? It’s part of the risk. It’s just never been this long,’’ Fury reminds, ‘’You know that.’’
‘’I want to know why you waited three and a half days,’ Laura beings before pointing at all of us, ‘’When they all have families.’’
Rochelle rubs her seven month pregnant stomach at that, ‘’The last time people just disappeared,  they were blipped. A giant alien crashed to earth again?’’
‘’Be real,’’ Cassandra  speaks again, folding her arms in front of her chest, ‘’And theny ou sent the kid, and her boyfriend out there? After you’d lost them? Did that seem wise yo uoi, Fury?’’
‘’You should know the risk associated. You are not that far removed from the field, agent,’’ Natasha begins, standing and stretching, ‘’But arguing is getting us nowhere. We are organizing a search team for them now, and that is why we have called you all in.’’
‘’We have an idea on how to locate them. However, sending in other members of the agency may alert them that they are there to rescue them. So I’ve thought of another idea.’’
Captain Marvel
‘’Wait, Ms.Marvel is coming here,’’ I pipe up, earning looks of distress and abit of annoyance from those around me, ‘’Sorry.’’
‘’You’re not the one who needs to be apologizing, sis,’’ Rochelle reminds you, ‘’So, Fury. What is this brilliant plan of yours?’’
‘’To spend the next few days training a group of highly capable individuals, ‘’ Fury says, ‘’Some experienced with this line of search and rescue, and others fairly new to it. But all with the same motivation- to find them.’’
Something in my stomach begins to turn, something similar to nervousness but without the usual side of nausea that I so often associate with THAT emotion.
‘’We thought who could be better to search timeout than the people that mean so much to them, and who they mean so much to,’’ Natasha brings an edge of nervousness to her statement, gently craving through her false sense of confidence.
‘’And who would that be,’’ you hesitate to ask, mouth dry as you feel that you already know the answers.
‘’Ladies… how do you feel about being temporary Avengers?’’

How It Started vs. How’s it Going: Fanfic Edition
Thank you for the tagged @tom-whore-dleston 💛
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Boba Bae vs. More Than You Bargain For
Stylistic wise, I’ve changed a lot. I think currently, my style is leaning toward the use of imagery. Sometimes, I write poetic shit when I’m in the mood. But of course, I want to continue to improve. Not to mention that I write more saucy fics than when I first started 😆 Shangqi definitely has more fluff fics than any other characters I’ve written, and im proud of them—even the cracky ones.

Requests Character List:
Go back to main masterlist
Tumblr media
When sending a request; please specify in which pronouns to use. If not, I will automatically use they/them.
I will determine by myself whether I want to write a fanfic about it or simple headcanons. You must understand writing an actual story takes up a lot of time, so I won’t always write an entire fic. Then again, it also depends on the request and which form is better suited for it. once again, I will decide this for myself.
Requests CLOSED

This list will change, depending on what I feel like writing at the moment, so it is possible that the characters you requested for last time might not be available at the moment. Please, don’t make a big deal out of it.
Tumblr media
I do not write: - Smut. (You do not want to read that from me, it’s so bad. I’m only saving your soul. - Anything that counts as discrimination (Racism, sexism, ableism, “my religion is better than yours”, homophobia, transphobia etc. This can however be negotiated with if it is for the purpose of a hurt/comfort fic) - Sexual assault. Even for smaller fics or requests, I do not feel comfortable discussing them. I hope you understand this. - SH and depressive thoughts. Personal experiences make it difficult to write about it.
I do write: - Literally anything else??? - Wlw, mlm, anything gay, really. Actually, make it as queer as you can. - Any pronouns, gender sexual orientation and the whole shebang.

35 FANFIC WRITER QUESTIONS
4. Are there any writers that inspire you?
Omg there’s so many but here’s a few: @blackbat05 (hehe 😘), @wint3r-h3art @crazycookiecrumbles @buckybleu @inklore @graysonshaven @beakeoghan @aphrogeneias @burnthoneymint @mothdruid @tonystarksfavoritedaughter @frostbitten-written @poetic-fiasco @give-me-a-moose @shiningloki @buckyownsmylife @sweetkingdomstarlight-blog @sparkledfirecracker @magicxc @little-diable and so many more that I’m blanking out on due to sleep deprivation 🥲
8. Which character(s) do you find easiest to write?
Seeing that my masterlist is full of simu & co. I think it is safe to say Shangqi and Jung (and Simu too if we are counting RPF) are easy for me to write 😜 Loki is a hit or miss nowadays bc I’ve come up with so many concepts I’ve wanted to write for him but ended up abandoning bc they just sounded better in my head lol
9. Which character(s) do you find most difficult to write?
Any non-Marvel related characters (with the exception of Jung) are hard for me to write. I’ve tried writing other Tom hiddleston characters at one point but it just didn’t click for me 😭

“Do I even wanna know how you found those?” Shangqi asked, muffled by Joaquín's shoulder.
It was actually pretty simple. After their last mission, Kamala was venting about having to finish her homework. Joaquín managed to catch a side comment she’d made about how one of the guys in her accounting textbook happened to look a lot like Shangqi. Joaquín wouldn’t have thought too much about it had he not seen Shangqi leave the room at that exact moment. So he decided to do some research.
... It didn’t take long for him to find a link to an entire fanpage’s worth of Stock images with his boyfriend’s face on them.
- or -
Joaquín finds Shangqi's old Stock photos, and he never hears the end of it.

Enough (Shangqi x f!reader)
Shangqi x f!reader
Content: a little bit of angst, fluff at the end, Shangqi being such a damn sweetheart
Word Count: 1.3k
Babyboiboyega’s Marvel Masterlist
*********
Y/N’s movements were a little slower than usual as she dodged, kicked, and punched, and it was obvious, especially to her. It was obvious, and it frustrated her to no end as she continued to move around the mat.
The slight throbbing in her temple she had woken up with had only gotten worse as the day went on, and it continued to do so the more she exerted herself.
She tried to hide the pain behind a grimace, but under the guise of being focused, but she had a slight suspicion that he could see right through her. This only prompted her to intensify her actions, trying to come off as fine when in reality, the pressure in her head was close to debilitating.
She knew that she should have stopped and told him what was wrong, but the stubborn, reckless side of her won out. And that was exactly what she was doing: being incredibly reckless.
A grunt left her mouth as she was pushed back, her feet stumbling over each other.
“Y/N, what’s going on with you tonight? You’re a little slower than usual.”
Shangqi’s voice rang out, a teasing lilt to it as he gazed at her with his hands on his hips. His eyebrows were furrowed in genuine worry as she bent at the waist, bracing herself against her knees.
With every breath she took came another painful throb in her temple, and even with her eyes squeezed shut, she could feel her head spinning.
Hearing her labored breaths and noticing her silence, Shangqi walked closer, the small smile on his face dropping.
“Hey, what’s wrong? We can take a break. We should take a break.”
At his words, Y/N shook her head slowly before straightening. The wince that she tried to hide did not go unnoticed.
“I’m fine. Let’s go again.”
Shangqi’s head tilted and his eyes narrowed slightly, this time with suspicion.
“Y/N, there’s nothing wrong with taking a break. Maybe get a sip of water-”
“I’m fine, Shangqi, okay? I’m...I’m good.”
The conviction in her voice was enough for him to slowly nod his head before taking stance. His eyes watched her carefully as she did the same, and once he was satisfied that she was ready, he resumed their dance around each other.
He threw easily avoidable hits while still watching the way she reacted. Her eyebrows were pinched in concentration as she blocked his hits, her feet moving in the way he had taught her.
For a brief moment, she felt pride and forgot about the pain that gripped her head. All of the sparring lessons were culminating into something she was proud of.
But then Shangqi had to throw a punch while simultaneously going for her exposed bottom half.
She had managed to block the hit, but she had been too oblivious of her open leg area.
Y/N felt herself falling and managed to right her foot enough to where her impact with the mat was more controlled. An almost embarrassing “oof” fell from her lips as she quite literally landed on her ass.
It only took a few seconds for Shangqi to approach her, his hand held out to help her up.
“We’re taking a break. I’ll go get your water.”
The finality of his words paired with her own frustration resulted in a pang of anger quickly running through her.
She grabbed his hand and pulled herself up quickly, her mouth forming words of insistence that only dissipated as black spots crowded her vision.
She rapidly blinked her eyes, but only seemed to make it worse. The pain in her head had decided to make itself known once again, and it came with a vengeance.
This time, she couldn’t stop the small groan from escaping her mouth as her hand raised and gripped her head.
The pain was unbearable now, akin to having one’s head slammed into a metal pole without the relief of eventually passing out. She could feel the throbbing at the base of her neck, and the pain had started to make her stomach churn.
She should have listened to him. She should have stopped earlier.
Y/N hadn’t realized that she was swaying, leaning a little too far in one direction, until she felt soft, calloused hands land on her arms.
“Y/N...Y/N, talk to me. What’s going on?”
As she spoke, Shangqi gently guided her down until she was safely kneeling on the floor, no longer swaying on her feet. He wasted no time in kneeling in front of her, his hands moving to cup her face.
“Come on, take deep breaths. Talk to me, sweetheart.”
Y/N spoke quietly and through clenched teeth, her hand continuing to put pressure against her temple.
“Migraine.”
The sigh that left Shangqi’s mouth was sympathetic as he rubbed her cheek. He leaned forward and pressed a chaste kiss against her forehead before slowly rising and bringing her with him.
He had no trouble supporting her weight as he led her in the direction of his room, leaving the open space behind them.
In reality, it had only taken a minute or so to get to Shangqi’s room, but every step had felt like 10 to Y/N. She was acutely aware of Shangqi turning off every light as they walked, and if she weren’t so busy making sure her lunch stayed down, she would have expressed her love and gratitude for his actions.
She simply let Shangqi guide her to wherever she needed to go, knowing and trusting without a doubt that he would take care of her.
He only proceeded to prove her right as he wasted no time in walking her towards his bed and gently lowering her onto it. As soon as she was situated, he quietly walked around the bed and turned off every remaining light, the tv, and even closed the blinds.
In only a span of a few seconds, he had grabbed a glass of water and the medicine she had left at his place for a situation exactly like this.
“Y/N, here’s your medicine. Come on, babe. I just need you to take this real quick.”
With an agonized groan and her eyes still tightly shut, Y/N slowly sat up. Her hands blindly reached out, prompting Shangqi to drop her pill into her hand followed by the glass of water. She took the medicine quickly and without hesitation, before holding it out once more.
Shangqi’s hands shot out, one grabbing the glass while the other gently landed on her back, keeping her from laying back down.
A noise between a soft cry and a groan left Y/N’s mouth at being stopped, but the slight annoyance she had quickly dissipated as Shangqi gently crawled into bed in front of her.
All while whispering apologies to her, he maneuvered their bodies to where they could lay down with Y/N completely covering his body with her own.
There had been a question on the tip of her tongue as he had moved them, but it all made sense when his hands raised and started massaging her temples, gingerly but with enough pressure to ease the pain.
She felt his lips touch her hair, and it made a lone tear slip from her tear line. The tears that formed as a result of pain only fell as a result of being cared and loved for.
But Shangqi had interpreted the new tear stain on his shirt as one of pain. He spoke softly with his lips pressed to her head.
“I know. I know, I’m sorry I can’t do more.”
His words made her arms tighten where they were wound around his torso. As she spoke, more tears fell from her eyes.
“You do more than enough, Shangqi. You’re more than enough.”
********
I hope you all enjoyed this! Like I said, this is a comfort fic that I really wrote for myself, but decided to post it here! I do deal with chronic migraines, and with every migraine comes a great disdain for everyone in the immediate vicinity....but I just KNOW that Shangqi would do anything to help me feel better, so I wanted to write it!
This week has been reaaaalllyy tough so far between work, class, and personal issues, so that’s another reason why this is a comfort fic, it helped me escape life while I was writing.
But once again, I hope you all enjoyed this! Please like, reblog, and/or leave a comment. Literally whenever someone leaves a comment, it makes my day!
OH! I’m also thinking about making a tag list! 👀👀
Stay safe, y’all!

Author's note: part two of me drinking three coffees and losing my mind
Imagine calming Shang-Chi down after he has a nightmare.
You were woken up by a peculiar stirring beside you. It was erractic, chaotic. Before you woke up properly, you could already tell what was going on and that probably finally got you on your feet: Shang-Chi was having a nightmare. Third time this week, which was actually an improvement compared with what was happening to him right after you got back from Ta Lo. What worried you most was the fact that he wouldn't speak about what was happening in those dreams. You thought that maybe if the two of you talked his fears through, his mind would settle.
Shang-Chi was grumbling something under his nose, and from his tone, it was easy to guess he was afraid, angry and desperate. He turned towards you in an aggressive turn as if something scared him away or he didn't want to watch a scene that was unfolding in his nightmare. Now you could see his cringing face that had beads of cold sweat running down. Shang-Chi's lips and eyebrows were trembling. Was it fear? Heartbreak? Or were his muscles simply growing tired from the excessive contraction? The mix of dark, deep emotions that appeared on his face could make a man on the gallows seem enthusiastic. What unspoked visions could possibly strike so much fear into him?
Before you had a chance to try and wake him up, Shang-Chi sat up with impressive speed. His eyes were hazy, not focusing on the world around him, his breath irregular and panicky. Sweat was running down his skin.
You put your hand gently against his shoulder, which made him wince slightly. His mind was still occupied by the horrors that, somehow, trespassed into his thoughts.
"Hey," you whispered to him, gently rubbing his shoulder. "You're okay, love. It was just a bad dream. We're alright."
His head turned to look at you the moment you softly kissed his arm. It was as if his mind had finally returned to the mundane planar with Shang-Chi realizing that he was, in fact, safe and sound as were you. A heavy, relief-filled sigh escaped his mouth as he put an arm around you and held you tightly. It was fairly obvious emotions were taking him over as he wrapped the other arm around your body, the embrace becoming even tighter. You were an anchor preventing a ship from sinking.
"Should I bring you some water?" you whispered into his skin.
"No." His voice was groggy. "Don't leave me." Shang-Chi's head was resting on top of yours. He was gently rocking both your bodies back and forth but whether he meant to, you were unsure. Seeing such vulnerability from him wasn't common and so you were still learning to navigate around it.
"I'm right here, love," you gently squeezed his bicep.
Maybe your grandfather, a navy officer, was right? "Even an unsinkable battleship needed an anchor."

From the Ashes of Secrets - Chapter 2
Shang-Chi spoilers!
Katy loves him.
He can’t believe it.
Chapter 1 ~ Shangqi/Katy ~ 1.3k ~ AO3
Tumblr media
Shangqi stared at her. At Katy. At his best friend. At his girlfriend. At his partner. At his… everything.
She loved him.
It wasn’t like he hadn’t seen this coming. They had been going slowly, sure, learning to balance this new side of their relationship with the multiverse of madness they had been plunged into, both of them nervous about wrecking their friendship no matter how often they said nothing ever would. But despite the obstacles, despite the uncertainties, they had grown closer, steadily, naturally, falling in love as easily as they breathed, until he found himself wondering how he had ever not loved her.
Maybe he had. She had been his first friend after he ran away, his first friend in a foreign country. She was the first person to stand up for him since his mother died. She welcomed him into her family without a second thought, and she had showed him how to be a kid again, giving him back the precious gift of youth that his mother’s death and father’s rage had so brutally stolen from him. Time with her buried the pain and guilt of everything he’d lost and done, and it wasn’t so strange to think, looking back on it all, that maybe part of him had loved her all along.
But how could she ever love him in return?
Sure, she hung out with him now, when he very carefully pretended that he was just a dorky guy who liked karaoke and not wrecking other people’s cars. It was easy to befriend someone like that, easy to let someone like that into your life. She didn’t know, though.
She didn’t know anything.
She didn’t know about the blood staining his hands, about the nights he woke up in a cold sweat, his subconscious forever trapped in the feeling of the man’s life draining away beneath his hands. She didn’t know that he had stood by and watched his mother die, or that he had abandoned his little sister to the uncaring fist of their revenge-obsessed father. She didn’t know that, for seven years, he had wanted to be a killer.
She didn’t know that part of him, the darkest part of him, sometimes didn’t even regret the kill.
His own mother would hate the person he had become. So how could Katy – kind, caring, wonderful Katy – ever dream of loving him?
It wasn’t like he could even tell her.
The opportunity had come up before, time and time again. A lull in the conversation, her mother or grandmother trying a little too hard to pry the details out of him, nights when he was drunk enough to be miserable but not quite drunk enough to be brave. But when they were young, he was terrified of being sent home, and when they were older, he was terrified of her knowing. Because if she knew…
If she knew, he would lose her.
If she knew, he would lose his everything.
So he kept his mouth shut. He looked away when she looked like she wanted to ask. He pretended he couldn’t fight. He hid everything he could, from the callouses on his hands to the muscles on his abdomen to the scars on his back. And he lied. He lied again, and again, and again, over and over for a decade.
He wished it had stopped on the bus.
But no. Even with two men holding him back and a third in his face, he kept trying to hide, trying to maintain the illusion he had built, and his father’s man hurt her for it, hurt his best friend because he was too scared to protect her, right before the bus careening out of control nearly got her killed.
And even then, he didn’t stop. He tried to shut her out. He left out the not-so-tiny detail that he had killed the man. And Xialing had to be the one to tell her what a horrific brother he had been.
It was a miracle she was still by his side at that point.
Surely she would leave, though. Surely she would bail when she saw his father’s brutality, the brutality he had inherited. Surely, at some point, as they got dragged deeper and deeper into his past, she would recognize that she had let a monster into her home, and she would get herself out and have nothing to do with him ever again.
He wouldn’t blame her. Katy was loyal, yes, but she was smart, too – smart enough to know that he wasn’t worth risking her life.
But… she didn’t.
She stayed. He nearly let her fall to her death, and she stayed. She saw him killing on that scaffolding, saw him nearly kill a man who was trapped beneath him, and she stayed. She listened to his confession, listened to him say that he would kill his own father, and she stayed. She was plunged right into the heart of all the darkness that had forged the liar and assassin she grew up with, and when it was all over…
She chose him.
She didn’t run. She didn’t kick him out. She didn’t even flinch. She didn’t do anything he had always been convinced she should do if she ever found out.
She only pulled him closer.
And sitting on the shoreline, watching the lanterns float away, peace and grief wrapped around them in equal measure as she laid her head upon his shoulder, he started to think, for the first time in a decade, that maybe, just maybe, someday, he could be worthy of her.
So he laid his head atop hers, breathing easy for the first time since they had met, and silently vowed beneath the stars that he would try to be everything she thought he was.
He told her everything. He taught her how to fight. He saved the world a few times. He did anything and everything he could to earn the awe when she watched him fight, the sparkle in her eye when he made her laugh, the trust she placed in him to keep her and her family safe in the crazy world they were suddenly a part of.
And it worked. As time went on, as he embraced his mother’s legacy and used his father’s greatest weapons for good, as he let his walls down and stopped waiting for the world to come crashing down around him, the constant terror and self-loathing faded, turning to security and confidence as she helped bring out everything she had always seen in him, from the dorky kid who screamed at her to slow down to the Avenger who came soaring in on the back of a dragon to save the world.
Yeah. Life was so much better than he had ever dared imagine it could be.
But ten years of thinking something was a hard habit to kick, and the darkness would always be lurking within him, so lying in bed that morning, part of him still couldn’t believe that she was here, at his side, loving not the façade he had hidden behind, but every inch of him, the good and the bad, the dark and the light.
She loved her best friend and an Avenger.
She also loved a broken man and a killer.
She loved him.
Katy sat back a little, the golden morning light glowing around her like a halo. “Did I- Did that freak you out? Because you don’t have to say it back, I just- I thought-”
He kissed her.
She froze for half a heartbeat, surprised, and then melted into it, bringing her hand up to cup his cheek. He held her closer with the arm that had been wrapped around her all night, his other hand caressing her cheek, slipping into her hair, cradling the back of her head with all of the tenderness he had once thought his blood-stained hands incapable of possessing. He kissed her until they broke apart just enough to breathe, Katy tilting her forehead to rest against his, her hair falling around them like a curtain, a soft smile painting her face with bliss, her eyes drifting shut as she savored the moment.
But his stayed open, memorizing her smile, tracing the curve of it with a delicate thumb, wondering at how incredibly lucky he was.
“I love you, too, Katy,” he whispered.

Tumblr media
You had welcomed Xialing into your apartment with an eager smile. Your good friend Shangqi’s sister, and current paramour. At first, it was just fun flirting, blooming when you first met her at Macau. It eventually evolved into soft touches of reassurance when you were taken by Wenwu, Xialing vowing to keep you safe. It all came to a romantic, relieved hug you both shared after fighting in Ta Lo. Thus began the journey downhill. You were determined to ask her out, but it seemed a bit more complicated after she became your roommate. Despite the affections the two of you had shared, the woman you grew to adore had become distant. Maybe it was the sudden move to America or the events that had transpired in Ta Lo stressing her out. If you’d done something wrong, she wouldn’t tell you. But ever since that hug it’s as if she wanted nothing to do with you. Considering that, it was shocking when she asked to move in. But you were the most viable option, occupied in a vast apartment perfect for two. If only it felt that way.
“Y/N, just ask her out. She spends more time with you than I or Katy, and that’s saying a lot since we’re pretty much the only ones she talks to,” Shangqi assured.
     “In fact, they should bone!”
“Katy. Please don’t,” your friend pleaded.
“Don’t deny it! The sexual tension that fills the room when they’re together is killing me. If you just did it already, everything would turn out fine!” Katy was dangerously adamant, to a point where if you and Xialing hadn’t sorted out your tension soon; she’d force you to.
“Ew. For one, that’s my sister we’re talking about. And two, it’s pretty obvious the two of them want something more than that,” he clarified.
“What we need,” he paused for dramatic effect, “Is a parent trap.”
     “Awesome! I love it!”
“How is that supposed to work when one of the parents is sitting right here?” you deadpanned, gesturing towards yourself.
     “Good point Y/N. Get out.”
     “What? You can’t be serious.”
“Very serious. You gotta go, Y/N. We’ll relay our plan to you soon!” Katy proceeded to giggle, with a mischievous tone that worried you immensely.
“Shangqi- SHANGQI!” Your tall friend had now begun to briskly carry you out of the apartment, quickly closing the door in front of you with a cheeky smile and wink.
Tumblr media
An anxious hour or two later, you finally got a text from them.
“We’re going clubbing! Xialing, Y/N, you have to join us! No buts!” That was from your group chat, the less conspicuous text being sent only to you: “Wear something pretty, reds her favorite.” Shit. They really weren’t joking about this. Before you could interfere, Xialing had responded with an instant “k.” It was now or never, you thought grimly, as you perused your closet for something cardinal and alluring. A small, scarlet dress found its way into your hands, the smooth silk of it pleasing to the touch. It was bold. But, maybe some boldness was just what you needed.
After getting ready for a good hour and a half or so (40 minutes of a said hour calling Shangqi & Katy for outfit advice), you headed out into your and Xialing’s shared living room. She wasn’t ready yet. Despite your impatience, you awkwardly sat on your couch, tangled in your thoughts. Would she like how you looked? Hell, how would she look? What if she was so pretty you embarrassed yourself, ruining any chance you had with her-
    “Hey.”
Xialing stood there silently. How long had she been standing there?
    “Shit Xialing, you scared me.”
“Sorry. Spent a second or two looking at you. You look nice,” Xialing rarely gave compliments. Your heart raced with every syllable.
“Thank you!” You abruptly replied, “You look…” Her outfit consisted of an onyx suit jacket, accompanied by a pair of navy blue pants and shiny heels.
“Amazing,” you smiled genuinely. She nearly took your breath away, just as you had done to her.
“Thanks. You ready?” she asked, offering her hand. Hah. No.
Tumblr media
20 minutes. For 20 fucking minutes, the two of you stood outside of the club, waiting for the other half of your group to appear. After that excruciating period of awkward silence, you got two notifications. “Oops. I forgot. Have fun!” From Katy. “Sorry guys, I have work to do. Vigilante work. You know the drill. Also, you guys don’t need to come help. I don’t want you to. Please don’t come to help me.”
“Either he’s been kidnapped, or he just really doesn’t want our help,” you giggled.
“He always sounds like he’s been kidnapped. C’mon, let’s head in.”
You trailed behind her closely, desperate to stay with a familiar face in this crowded club. It would be completely dark if not for the flashing fluorescent lights that blinked in tandem with the booming music.
“Y/N. Could you hold those seats for us at the bar there? I just have to use the restroom.”
“Sure!” And that left you. So much for being set up alone with Xialing tonight. You nimbly sped over to the bar seats, more people were coming in, which equated to far more competition. The tentative battle of who would get to rest their butts on soft cushions with a drink or two. In silent victory, you sat down, patiently waiting for the bartender. You scanned the crowded room with a frown. Despite coming here to spend time with Xialing, she left the second you walked in. Maybe she really was avoiding you? The thought was dreadful. Before you could spiral, you were intruded on.
“This seat taken?” The young man asked you obnoxiously. He was clearly too confident for his own good, desperate for his annoying attempt at charm to compensate for his lack of personality.
    “Yeah. Sorry.”
“Well, I don’t see anyone,” he simply said, before sitting uncomfortably close next to you.
“You are positively stunning,” he stated.
“Thanks. You’re in my seat,” you deadpanned.
“I think it’s safe to say we can call it my seat now. Besides, what kind of guy leaves a girl like here sitting all alone? I’d say I can do far better than him.”
Your gaze shifted nervously. Where was Xialing? This man was getting persistent and soon you’d probably end up punching him. Instead of an intimate night with Xialing, you had received an uncomfortable night with a creepy stranger.
“I’m serious. My friend is in the bathroom. Can you go?” you glared.
“But I want to sit here with you,” he replied, standing his ground. Suddenly his sleeved hand caught your wrist.
“And maybe you could do me a favor and sit with me?”
Now you were more than uncomfortable. His grip on your wrist was tight and his smile was anything but friendly. Before he could force his lips onto yours, he collapsed.
    “What the fuck?!”
A heel kicked him in the groin not so gently.
“Get the hell away from her, before I make you.” There she stood, powerful and imposing. Xialing in her beautiful, angered glory. The club lights flickered, illuminating her face with iridescent colors for seconds at a time. She was incredible.
“You crazy bitch-” he moved towards her, clearly a little too intoxicated and eager for a fight. The last thing anyone should do is try to fight Xu Xialing. She swiftly caught him in a choke-hold, his face turning cherry and his insults becoming choked-up sobs.
“Xialing! Please, let’s just go.” It was as if you broke her out of a trance. She reluctantly dropped the man to the floor, letting him crawl away miserably, like a snail drenched in salt. You quickly grabbed her hand as you headed for the exit.
As soon as you both were alone in the cold evening air, her expression shifted from anger to concern.
    “Y/N, are you alright?”
“Yeah. A little shaken up but, I’ll be okay. Thank you for that Xialing.” Before you could say more, your hand touched her cheek with gentle care. She flinched.
“Shit, it looks like you’re bruising a bit. Let’s get you home and clean up, yeah?”
Tumblr media
Somehow, you cupping Xialing’s cheek had caused her to malfunction. As you sat on your plush couch, applying ice to her face, all she did was glare down at the floor. You were getting sick of this. First, she saves you from a creep, all chivalrous and mighty, and now she’s fucking ignoring you.
“Did I do something wrong, Xialing?”
    Her head perked up quickly.
    “What? No. Of course not.”
“Then why do you ignore me?”
Xialing paused. You noticed all of her attempts to avoid you. She frowned. It’s not like she enjoyed it either. But the fluttering in her chest and butterflies in her stomach got to be too much for her as time progressed. She couldn’t handle bumping into you in the morning, beautiful in your comfortable attire and befuddled state. It became torture when the two of you would hang out, your gorgeous eyes piercing into hers. Others flirting with you, and being creepy as well? That was the last straw.
“I hate how they look at you.”
    “How so?”
“Like you’re a piece of meat. You looked stunning tonight,” she sighed, “But unfortunately I wasn’t the only one looking at you.”
    “You… look at me?”
    “Yes.”
“I just don’t know how I can do this anymore without falling in love with you, Y/N,” she softly confessed.
You were shocked. Shangqi and Katy were right. It turns out you had a better chance than you thought. Before she could take it all back and apologize, you interrupted her.
    “Can I kiss you, Xialing?”
Her brown eyes bore into yours for a second. She let a small smile grow on her face before leaning in close to you. She smelled like lavenders. You could almost feel the soft touch of her skin. And then you did. The kiss was invigorating. She kissed you as if she were starving and you danced with her lips with the same ferocity. Her hand went to the nape of your neck as she pulled you in closer.
    “Is that your phone?” Shit.
Annoyed and disappointed at the absence of her touch, you answered the call in a breathless haze.
    “What?”
“Oh my god. They finally boned.”

The drinking game [Shangqi x reader]
Summary: Shangqi gets married to someone u and Katy can't stand. And so on begins the drinking game.
Warnings: angst, drinking, sadness.
A/N: it WAS supposed to be a drinking game but then i didn't write that so i just wrote them drinking. But i like the summary like that so I'm gonna leave it like that.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
"I'm not drinking today" You had reminded before the wedding to Katy; who rolled her eyes and scoffed.
The night before, Katy had stayed at yours and you guys had drank a little too much. Your reason: trying to forget the love of your life was getting married and you wouldn't do anything about it. Because you could, you just wouldn't.
Katy because her last time telling her best friend Xu Shangqi that this woman he was marrying was a mistake. But Shangqi was too in love with her to notice her very there, very obvious BAD person written all over her face.
It had gone something like:
"Katy, Y/N, what are you guys doing here? The wedding is tomorrow and it's almost 12am." He rubs his eyes and fakes a yawn but you and Katy know he was playing video games.
"You can't do this, Shangqi. You can't marry her!"
Shangqi sighs defeatedly and leans against the door. His arms cross against his chest and he looks at his toes for a moment before looking up.
He eyes Katy for a moment and then you. He stares at you for a bit too long and your heart feels like it's gonna be snatched by his gaze right out of your throat.
"It's done, guys. I love her." He has a glint in his eyes that makes you and Katy know that he does indeed love her, which makes this much worse than it should be.
After that Katy argued with him for a while but her yelling didn't match his calm expression and before she could yell one more time and get you guys kicked out of the building, since you were at his door, you grab Katy's arm and told her: "it's done. We are done here."
Katy fumes and glares at her best friend and walks away to her car. You stay with Shangqi for a moment but you can't meet his gaze so u stay looking at the point of your converse.
"I will like for you guys to be there..." You hear him say and you finally look up.
His gaze isn't on you though, he's looking at anywhere but you.
"We will" You assured even when your heart felt like needles were piercing through it. You may need an anxiety pill.
Shagqi's gaze goes to you and licks his lips and nods before going inside and closing the door.
That's your queue to go back to Katy's car. When you sit beside her you see her staring off into the distance, just...glaring at a lamppost.
"We should've told him." You breathe.
"She would've killed us." Katy murmurs.
"I think if we stick together we could beat her--"
"No, Y/N, she's too powerful." As Katy turns on the car and starts to get off the parking, she speaks again. "So, do you have any drinks at your house?"
You grin looking straight ahead. San Francisco looks peaceful or as peaceful as it can get at 12 in the morning.
"Some but we could buy more"
It's finally wedding day and you and Katy are sporting a major hangover from drinking vodka mixed with any type of juice the night before, and when you finally enter the area where the wedding is gonna be held you're both still wearing your very fashionable sunglasses. The sun is hot and you're glad at least this part of the wedding is gonna be held inside instead of outside.
When Shangqi says his dreaded: I do. Your mind is made up.
You're drinking tonight. If you had to make a fool of yourself then so be it. You grab Katy's arm firmly and squeeze. She looks at you but you're looking at only the rose in your garden, the brightest star in the darkest night, the love of your life.
When the wedding is over you try to keep it to yourself but while everyone is making their way outside for the rest of the ceremony you practically run into the bathroom.
You start pacing in front of the mirror and when you finally look at yourself you can't help but cringe, your eyes are watery and at least you're wearing good makeup so it won't go all over your eyes.
You put the palm of your fingers on your eyes forcefully and scream. When you're done someone barges in and you see Shangqi's little sister: Xu Xialing.
Her face is one of scared and when her frantic eyes land on you she sighs.
"Better?" She says as she adjusts her black dress.
"I'm feeling like i wanna get on a space ship and get off this planet and never come back" You grab a napkin and dab under your eyes.
Xialing nods. "I understand."
"Have you ever been in love?" You ask.
Xialing looks at you through the mirror as you look at her. She grabs her purse the same color as her dress and picks out a red lipstick. She starts to put it on her lips and you think that's the end of the conversation so you start to get out of the bathroom when she speaks up.
"Never"
"Would you like to?"
"I don't think I'm ready for it"
You nod and get out of the bathroom looking for Katy.
When you find her, she's at the bar with a beer.
"I thought we weren't drinking tonight" you sit next to her and has her arm on the bar and her head is on her palm.
"I thought you told me you did want to drink?"
"Now now, when did I say that?" You're just messing around, you know what you did. The signal.
You had gripped her arm so hard she had known back then that you're answer of not drinking tonight had changed.
When the bartender comes around Katy orders for you: "anything fruity but with alcohol for the beautiful sad lady next to me."
The drink is pushed on your hands, it's pink with what looks like gummies floating.
When you take your first sip, you automatically start to feel less jittery, less nervous, less anxious.
The night goes on and Shangqi is too engrossed in his new wife that he doesn't come to you and Katy for a while.
And you're kinda okay with that. You're on the verge of drunk already, you've had 3 similar drinks to your first one and you're kinda already seeing double.
"I felt like you guys might like this" the bartender says randomly to you and Katy and you see two shots on the table, one red, one blue. Both with a sour gummy floating on it. "It's on the house" he grins and walks away.
You look at Katy with an almost-there-drunk-grin and you both shout: "gummy worms!!!". Some people look to the bar where you guys are still sat but since the music is so loud they return to their business, just as you and Katy clink glasses and drink the whole thing, with the gummy worm on your fingers to eat after.
"Oh wow, that was harsh" Katy mumbles.
"Not as harsh as me seeing the love of my life get married today." You stare at your shot of glass now empty. Not noticing how Katy's eyes had widened while she looked behind you.
"You love me?" Shangqi says just loud enough for you, Katy and the now wide eyed bartender that had been serving you drinks all night, to hear.
Your eyes widen and you look at Katy in a panicked expression. You feel out of control, you feel like youre too rooted to the earth. If you had powers you would've flown right away from that awkward and horrifying moment you thought you would avoid forever.
When you had said that you wouldn't tell him about your undying love for him it was because you knew he didn't love you back.
You used to think there was something there, before she came into the picture and ruined it. Now he's all hung up on her and you're all hung up on him.
With your heart trying to get out of your throat you turn around to look at Shangqi.
His eyes are curious and when he asks: "is that true?"
You puke on his shoes.
Your dignity was gone.
And you were wishing falling in love was easy and not as hard as this.
Sorry I made you upset universe, for you to treat me like this, you think.
(To be continued??????.....)
--
A/N: idk if I'll write a second part considering this is my first fic in what feels like years. But yes i just got this idea and had to write it and now I'm sharing it with you guys.
HOPE YOU LIKE! 💛

Your breath hitches in your throat as you feel his hand strokes along the column of your neck. Goosebumps prick across the surface of your skin as a chill runs down your spine. A soft, shaky breath escapes from your nose. Your head throws back against his hard chest.
Shangqi is knuckled deep inside your drenching pussy, slowly pumping in and out of in a slow, deliberate motion. God, you really wish he’d move faster. You want to clench your thighs together, but he has you tied up. Your ankles are restrained and tied on either side of the bedposts. You have no choice but to open wide, and present yourself to him.
“Baby, you’re being a very good girl right now,” he murmurs against the shell of your ear while his fingers work in and out of you, spreading you open as he watches you watching him fucking you right in front of the mirror.
You cannot help but let out a muffled moan as you try your hardest to keep your eyes open. Every time you clench your eyes shut, Shangqi would stop whatever he’s doing, and denies you the pleasure of reaching your release. This has been going on for about half an hour now. Your slick is practically wetting his trouser. His arousal presses against your back. You just want him to stop teasing you and just fuck you right here right now.
“If you keep doing what you’re doing now, I’ll let you cum, deal?” His deep, throaty voice reverberates against your skin, sending more chill down your spine. He watches you tentatively as he curls his fingers against that one spongey spot that makes you see stars. A high pitch moan escapes from your lips as you feel that warm familiar sensation slowly creeping up on you at the pit of your stomach as his pace quickens. The wet, squelching sound fills the room as you’re getting closer and closer to it. Your back practically arches off of him as you can feel your orgasm nears. “That’s it, my sweet girl. Keep watching me fucking you. Don’t close your eyes now.”
He continues to pump into you maybe once or twice or thrice more before a lewd, throaty moan escapes from your lips. Your release hits you like a wave, making your body convulses, your muscles spasms as you feel the warmness spreading throughout your body.
Shangqi watches you in the mirror, eyes glimmer with lust and satisfaction as you come unravel right in front of him. His cock is aching, practically burst with the need of wanting to bury himself right into your warm, wet heat. “I can't wait to sink myself so deep inside you, baby,” he murmurs against the shell of your ears as you slowly come down from your high, still panting and bathing in the afterglow of your orgasm. “Every time I see you,” he mutters as he quickly rips at your restrain, freeing your legs from their confinement. “I can’t help by seeing myself inside of you.”
With a grunt, he orders you to be on your hands and knees. You watch him with bleary eyes as he slowly lowers his trousers, eyes latching onto you the whole time. Your gaze lowers to the dark, tan bulbous head of his cock. You can see glossy beads of his pre-cum leaking out of the slit as he slowly wraps his callus hand around the long, thick shaft. Your mouth starts salivating as you watch him slowly pump his cock, imagining what it feels like to be impaled by that long hardness.
“You want this, don’t you baby?”
You nod as you lean back, letting your ass rub against his hardness. Shangqi lets out a throaty moan as he tips his head back, enjoying the contact. “You want me to fuck you with this cock, huh?”
You nod as you continue to grind your ass right at his crotch. Shangqi grins darkly before he suddenly grabs you with a force that makes your hands give away. You yelp out when your face hits the mattress. More muffled moans escape from you as he pushes himself right into your scorching wetness. Shangqi moans in satisfaction as he begins to move.
“Fuck, baby. Look at you so wet and so needy for me. You little pussy practically swallow my dick in,” he moans before he snaps his hips forward, knocking the air out of you. “Gonna stretch your little pussy nice and wide for me, baby,” he says before he grabs you by the hips and repeatedly thrust himself in and out of you. You let out loud, obscene noise at the feel of his cock hitting a spot that makes you speechless. Your mouth hangs open as you watch him through the mirror, mounting you and fucking you like an animal. The more his thrust becomes harder, the closer you are to cum again, and Shangqi can feel this too, by the way, your cunt slowly squeezing him.
“Are you cumming again, baby?”
You nod eagerly, unable to get your words out as he’s practically fucking the air right out of you.
“You’re gonna be a good girl and cum over my cock?”
You nod.
As if he cannot go any faster, his movements change. You can feel how erratic he has become as he’s plunging into you hard. Your moan mixes with the noise of skin slapping against skin, and before you know it you let out a high pitch scream as you cum, all the while that Shangqi still chasing his own. His erratic movements continue perhaps once or thrice before he lets out a grunt as he pulls himself out of you. “Open your mouth baby girl,” he pants as he pumps his cock quickly.
Without a thought, you open your mouth for him. The warm white fluid hits your cheek here, and your tongue there. Some lands on your chin and drips down your neck. The sound of Shangqi huffing and moaning is more than enough to make this all worthwhile. There’s nothing hotter than hearing your man moan out.
“Fuck me,” he groans as he lays beside you as he watches you spitting out his cum and letting the sticky, white liquid roll down to your chest. “I swear to God, you look so fucking hot right now.” Shangqi bites his lips as he stares up at you.
“Hmm, let me shower first and perhaps feed me, then we can talk,” you smile cheekily at him before you make your way to the bathroom. “Are you going to join me, or not?”
“Is that even a question?” he chuckles before he gets up and quickly carries you bridal style into the bathroom.
