Shangqi enjoyed when you showered him with love and attention every now and then, but you noticed that he was more touchy feely than normal. It didn’t change the way you went about your day, nor did it change the way you love him. But you were curious as to what got him in this kind of mood. It got to the point where your signs of affection weren’t enough so after dinner, he dragged you into his room to passionately fuck you. An hour later, your lover spilled his taint inside you, pecking small kisses over your sweaty face.
Shangqi collapsed onto the bed next to you, lungs begging for fresh air as he came down from the blissful high that you brought him to. You giggled next to him, staring at the ceiling as if looking straight into the pearly gates of heaven. Your hands linked together in the middle of the bed, and then your eyes met like a magnet pulled you towards one another.
“You still with me, Princess?” your super boyfriend asked, dragging his thumb over your hand.
You smiled, “Yeah, just needed to catch my breath.”
“C’mere Princess, I wanna hold you.” You obligingly rolled over until your naked body was flush against Shangqi’s and he instantly wrapped his arms around you.
“Someone’s extra cuddly and affectionate today,” you teased, smiling until your cheeks were sore. What Shangqi was about to say next made you regret poking fun at him.
“I’m sorry if I’m too much, baby. I just don’t want you to leave me.” He hid his face into the crook of your neck. Your heart hurt like a bee had stung it and the wound swelled against your chest.
“Woah, now,” you frowned, worry and melancholy laced in your voice. “I love you and I would never leave you. Why would you ever think that?” Not a peep came from Shangqi as his face stayed buried there. You called out his name, almost like a whisper, causing him to peek his head out. His brown eyes glistened with tears that were aching to fall down his face.
“This is gonna sound silly.” As much as you wanted to retort and disagree with him, you allowed him to speak his mind. “Last night, I had a dream that you died while fighting the Scarlet Witch–well, Wanda–and I obviously didn’t take your death very well, so I joined her in helping her find her sons. And in turn, she promised to help me find a universe where we could be together again. The thing is, Wanda knew all along that there wouldn’t be a universe where you loved me because I followed the footsteps of my father. You only saw me as a killer.” Shangqi paused. Not because he was waiting for a response from you, but because he was fighting the urge to choke on his words.
“You know something. I was always curious about the multiverse. After my father died, I wondered what my life would be like if both my mother and father were still alive. Maybe I wouldn’t have had to spend my whole childhood learning to become an assassin. Maybe my relationship with my sister wouldn't be so strained. Maybe my mom and dad would have grown old together like they wanted. We could’ve been happy. We could’ve been a real family. But then I realized other things. I would’ve never met Katy. I would’ve never taken the rings. I wouldn’t have met your dad and become an Avenger.” Shangqi’s voice began to crack as a tear finally trickled down his cheek. “Most of all, I would never have met you.” His head burrowed into your neck again, sobbing while squeezing you tenderly against him. Your fingers combed through his hair tossled from your previous activities. You allowed him to cry until he was ready to continue.
“I don’t know how many other universes there are—I’d actually rather not know—-but I don’t ever want to live in a universe without you in it. I can’t live without you, Princess.” His words struck a chord deep inside you. He plucked that chord inside you as his wet tears permeated your collarbone. It didn’t register that you had been crying until a salty tear dripped onto your lip and you struggled to breathe out of your nose.
“Shangqi, look at me.” Your hand caressed his tear stained cheek, causing him to peer into your loving eyes. His vision was blurry due to his tearful eyes, but he still managed to find your gaze. “It was just a dream. I’m here and I’m safe with you. I didn’t have the privilege of jumping universes with Strange and America, but I doubt that you became your father in every universe. And I refuse to believe that I hated you in every universe.” You pressed your lips to his temple, leaving them there for a few seconds. He grinned slightly behind the sniffles.
“Your mind is playing games with you and I don’t want you listening to them. I love you, Shangqi, and nothing will ever change that.” While you talked, Shangqi rested his hand over yours on his cheek, drawing circles over your hand with his thumb. He loved how you always knew the right words to say that would make him feel better. After the years of pain he went through, you and your love were exactly what he needed.
Another tear trailed down your eye as your lips curled into a warm smile. “No matter how many universes there are in the multiverse, I hope every variant of me is lucky enough to be loved by you.”
Shangqi wasted no time in pulling you closer to him so he could kiss you. His lips molded against yours as if they were made to be sculpted together. He traced your bare skin with his taut hands, cherishing your ethereal curves. Without breaking the kiss, you threw your leg over his hips, hoisting yourself up so you can straddle him. Shangqi grinned against your lips at the sudden maneuver.
“Let me prove to you that I love you and will never leave you.” As you moved down his legs, Shangqi watched you with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. Grasping his cock, you stroked him until he was pulsing with desire in your hands. His raspy whimpers caused your core to slicken and throb with need. You were eager for him to fill you with his love.
“I love you, Princess. I love you so much.” You gazed into his brown eyes as you sunk on top of him, mouths falling ajar and eyebrows furrowed in the middle. Once you were connected at your groins, your lips crashed against his, drinking each other’s moans while your hips moved against one anothers to a beat that was made for the two of you.

A Fall Day
A/N: Just another random one-shot in my Stark!Verse
TBH my heart just isn’t in writing and posting anymore. So IDK what to expect from me from here on out unless something SUPER inspires me and I can’t let the idea go.
Pairings/Characters: Shangqi x Stark!Reader; Bucky Barnes x Reader (platonic) Katy Chen x Xu Xialing (mentioned) Katy Chen x Bucky Barnes
Warnings: cursing, Bucky’s brooding face, mini roast sessions, Stark bullshit, breakup mentioned, mostly fluffy stupid nonsense
Summary:  We interrupt your previously scheduled one-shot for a chance at some random fluff fall goodness:
You two haven’t had a chance to just hang out and be regular people to enjoy the changing season. So, to remedy this, your doting husband has a plan up his sleeve for a great day, which is made only great by the presence of two good friends.
Previous Chapter:  A New Fear (not DIRECTLY after, can go in any place really)
Tumblr media
This was simply magical. You know what? Maybe you really did have a good reason to marry your husband, because sometimes, he really just did his best work to knock you off your feet.
Fall, the best season of them all, had arrived, and your husband had a plan set the second the coffee shops dropped all their pumpkin products.
First, he started your day with a pumpkin beverage. Could your AI have made it for you or ordered it? Yes, absolutely, but where was the care if, for once, he didn’t go out and pick it up so he could hand deliver it to you in bed?
Yawning, you opened one eye, ready to yell at him for waking the sleeping beast until you saw the drink. You gasped, shot up in bed, and stretched your hands out to grab the drink. Smirking, Shangqi placed the drink into your hands and watched as you greedily chugged it.
“And good morning to you, babe,” he said with a smile on his face. “When you finish that, get ready, I’ve got plans today.”
“Oh?” You asked after finally pulling away from the drink when it was half gone. “What’s going on?”
“You’ll see.”
“Is Katy coming?”
“She’ll be joining a little later. Bucky’s in town. He’s letting her try out a motorcycle.”
“Hm ,Bucky’s in town and didn’t come say hi first? I’m offended,” you hummed and sipped your drink some more, watching Shangqi’s facial expressions closely to try to guess what was going on. “We’re not going on a mission, are we?”
“What? No!” He laughed. “No. I just thought you could use a day out, and I know you love fall, so….”
“So!?”
“So there’s the Autumn Moon Festival in Chinatown. There’s tons of food, cooking demonstrations, acrobatics and martial arts, storytellers, and a parade, obviously,” he explained to you. “It’s no apple-picking in Upstate New York, but —“
“That sounds good,” You nodded and placed your empty cup in his hand before sitting up on your knees, leaning forward, and pressing your lips to his. “So…breakfast there, then?”
“There’s a pumpkin muffin waiting for you for the car ride.”
You sighed happily and draped your arms around his shoulders, “This is why I married you, Shangqi. I hope you know that.”
“I thought it was because I made you a better person and because I’m so damn handsome?”
“Well, I’m glad you’re not pretending it’s your intelligence,” you teased.
He gasped. Shangqi gasped before he pouted, grabbed your waist, and stood up with you. You shrieked with laughter as he dropped the both of you on the bed like a poorly executed wrestling move before he rolled over you, face hovering over yours as he playfully held your wrists to the bed.
“You’re an awful person, Mrs. Stark,” he sighed.
You beamed, “Yes, yes I am, Mr. Xu. Don’t you love it?”
He sighed again, “Yeah, I really do. Come on, get ready. If we get there and all the food is gone, I’m afraid for what you’ll do.”
“Cry, probably. Definitely cry.”
~*~
At the festival, Shangqi could see you were in heaven. There were so many foods to try. The colors and decorations were vibrant and bright,  there were beautiful trinkets, like fans, to purchase, and, naturally, you found yourself going overboard on things to buy.
Shangqi was stuffing your mouth with mooncake as the two of you shuffled through the busy streets together. You came across one of the demonstrations and watched on the sidelines as the experts displayed their martial arts prowess.
As you both were watching, you yourself felt like you were being watched. You glanced around curiously, and noticed how everyone was turning to stare at your husband. You smiled softly to yourself. He was completely oblivious to all the attention he was getting. Turning slightly, you tugged on his jacket and leaned in to speak in his ear, “You’ve been recognized, babe.”
Shangqi broke out of his daze and looked around. There were camera phones pointed at him, people talking and whispering, kids staring in awe.
He scoffed, “Nah ,that’s for you, baby —“
“Honey, consider the predominantly Asian neighborhood we are in and the very obvious lack of Asian representation in the superhero world so far,” you sighed as you grabbed his shoulders and gave him a little shake. “It’s for you.”
Shangqi gave another look around as you slipped away from him shouting that ‘bus boy is here.’ He scoffed at the old nickname you used for him, but he quickly recovered as people grabbed his arms and started dragging him over to join the other demonstrators. He looked at you wondering what he should do. You simply nodded and waved your hand in a ‘go on’ motion to prompt him. With a shrug, Shangqi displayed his own fighting prowess.
You watched with a smile on your face. You remembered your own moments when you were first being recognized. The same attention you got from people of your own culture because they felt a connection to you, a hero. It was sweet seeing that with your husband right now. Little kids were trying to follow along with him, and some adults too. People were filming him. He had all the attention.
You ended up turning it into a film session. A family or group of people handed you their phone while you were crouched down on the ground. You took pictures of them with your husband, gave the phone back, and moved it along.
“I didn’t think we’d be working,” Shangqi joked as you two eventually walked away to continue on with your day. “Sorry about that —“
“Enjoy it. All those little kids look at you and see themselves as a hero, adults too! It’s one of the perks of the business,” you smiled and squeezed his hand. “So is that woman that gave me an entire bag of scallion pancakes.”
“You are going to get sick eating all of those.”
“I’m aware, and I don’t care,” you said simply. “I didn’t judge you for eating 20 dumplings, 20!!!”
“Okay, okay,” he laughed and wrapped an arm around your shoulders. “How about we go grab some boba — “
“I want egg tarts —“
“And that too,” he nodded. “There’s a Japanese tea ceremony going on. I got tickets to see if you’re interested.”
You nodded, “Yeah, let’s do it.”
With snacks for later and drinks in hand, you two found yourselves viewing a traditional Japanese tea ceremony with other performances. You both were sitting in your seats and observing when you spotted Katy and Bucky across the way. Katy unceremoniously threw a balled up napkin at Shangqi’s face. It smacked him on the cheek and fell on the ground, causing you to stifle your giggles in the middle of this beautiful ceremony.
Afterwards, you all waited for each other outside. You locked eyes with Bucky and gave him the middle finger. He rolled his eyes as he approached, leaning down to kiss you on the cheek before giving Shangqi a hug.
“I guess we’re meeting up earlier than planned,” Katy began. “So, this can only mean one thing —“
“Katy,” Shangqi sighed. “I’m trying to give her a fall day —“
“You don’t even know what I  was suggesting.”
“Probably karaoke and booze,” Bucky hummed.
She scoffed, “What? No…”
“Why not,” you shrugged with a laugh. “It’s a San Francisco fall day, right? Let’s do it.”
“See? This is why you married her, she’s smart,” Katy draped an arm around your shoulders as she started to lead you away. “Thank god you’re here now. Bucky was making me look bad in front of everyone.”
“It’s not my fault I speak multiple languages,” he shrugged his shoulders as he and Shangqi walked behind you and Katy.
“It is, Barnes, it absolutely is!” Katy scoffed. “And he ate, like, 20 chicken wings. I can’t tell if I’m scared or turned on.”
“Oh, that’s funny. Shangqi had 20 dumplings.”
“Animals,” Katy shook her head while behind her, Shangqi rolled his eyes and Bucky snorted.
At the usual Karaoke bar, it was a little more crowded than usual with people in the area for the festivals. You guys managed to get a room right before the crowd hit, and you planned on keeping it for as long as you could. The drinks were flowing, Bucky was running out to get snacks to bring back, and you all were screaming your lungs out.
Well, all except—
“Come on, Bucky Bear,” you whined as you grabbed his arm. “You gotta sing a little something.”
Shangqi blinked as he watched you bat your eyes up at Bucky. He wasn’t sure if he was witnessing a nefarious plan, or a drunken confession.
“Fuck off, Stark.”
“Bucky bear!” You whined again, watching the soldier’s nostrils flare as his eyes darkened with an urge to throw you into the ocean. “Please?”
“What is happening?” Shangqi blurted out.
“Bucky loves a damsel in distress so I’m trying to appeal to that to get him to sing,” you explained as you stared up at Bucky. “Is it working?”
Bucky blinked twice as he stared at you in silence before answering, “Not even in your wildest dreams, Stark.”
“….You bitch.”
“I got it,” Katy slammed her drink before setting the glass on the table and marching up to him. She poked him in his chest, “Please sing. My girlfriend ghosted me. I need this.”
“Pity isn’t fair,Katy.”
“But it works, right?”
“Wait. My sister ghosted you?” Shangqi stared at Katy in disbelief. “I am too drunk for all this information. What is happening right now? Katy, are you okay?”
“Oh, sure, dude. My girlfriend’s so busy with work and some new project she’s on that she basically ghosted me and only answered ages later to say it’s done. I’m totally okay — no, I’m not okay. But I will be if Bucky starts to sing…”
Everyone slowly turned to stare at Bucky. The man with a permanent scowl rolled his eyes, grabbed a microphone, and went to pick a song. The three of you cheered while he was picking something.
“I bet it’s old as shit,” Katy whispered. “You were right, Stark, damsel works every time.”
“Told you. One time, I got him to take me to Wendy’s at 1:00 a.m. because I wanted a frosty.”
“Thank god. I thought you were in love with him,” Shangqi sighed in relief. “One super soldier love triangle was enough for me.”
“Ew? Bucky? I could never,” you shuddered at the thought.
Bucky finally picked a song and surprised the three of you. No one would have guessed when or how he came upon this, but given that he’d been through more eras in time than Steve, and had a lot more time on his hands now, maybe this was how he came upon it.
“Hungry eyes,” Bucky sang, going fully into it by thrusting his hips and making a fist against his chest. “One look at you and I can’t disguise!”
This was incredible. The three of you were frozen as you watched him. Was this really happening? Was Bucky a variant? This was insane. Never in your wildest dreams would you have guessed this was happening. It took you off guard so much, that it took you a moment to finally pull out your cell phone and start recording, only for Bucky to run over and rip it out your hand while he was singing and hold it in the air away from you.
“What a bully,” you huffed as Shangqi laughed and wrapped an arm around you. “This was a great day, honey, thank you.”
He beamed and rested his chin on the top of your head as he watched Katy grab a microphone and join in with Bucky, “Yeah? I mean, it’s no fall in New York, but —“
“But this was equally as fantastic. We needed this. Good job, babe,” you patted his chest and turned to kiss him softly on his cheek. “We should check on Xialing, though. That sounded weird.”
“I was just thinking the same thing,” he sighed. “I’m sure it’s fine. I’ll give her a call first.”
“Good,” you nodded. “Maybe take Katy out. Let her pick which car of my dad’s and go have a day together.”
“Are you sure you want to do that?”
“What? Yeah, she’s a great driver. I trust her. Better driver than I am, at least,” you shrugged your shoulders. “Better than you too, grandma.”
“Wow, okay. Wow,” he nodded while you were cackling. “Yeah, yeah, love you too, Y/N.”

we all have our secrets (5/5) - shangqi x asian!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: The aftermath. Xialing and Y/N should stay six feet apart.
Word count: 3.7k
Warnings: demon blood, mention of sex, fluff, mention of sterility, angst, language, mention of violence
Relationship: Xu Shangqi x asian!reader
Author’s note: Because Shangqi decided to be a reasonable person, I had to cut this story one chapter short, since Y/N and Shangqi were supposed to be more on the outs. Forgive me for being a depressed and empty writer who is lacking the motivation to write fight scenes and stuff like that. Keep a look-out for the epilogue, it reveals some tidbits for a future project.
Reblogs and/or comments are appreciated.

It was hard to believe that Y/N was able to fend for herself against an army of magical soul suckers. The whole fight felt like a whirlwind in her mind once the flying demon eaters breached through the gate.
At least, Xialing was fighting at her side with her rope dart while Y/N twirled her staff to eliminate as many foes as possible. If the world was ending, she couldn’t wish for a more formidable soldier next to her.
Once the cloud settled from Shangqi's ultimate power move, Y/N breathed shakily. Gory bits of demon flesh rained from the sky before there was only silence.
With her mouth open, Y/N inhaled deeply in shock, at the wet sensation dripping down her hair and face.
Before Y/N could even think about rubbing the side of her face clean, Xialing’s voice yanked her out of her internal musings, “Wow, you’re bathing in demon.”
Y/N turned her body with strained movements while her fingers were tense, afraid of the juices – ugh, even thinking it made her shudder – dripping further. And just like that, she gazed into the unmarred face of Xu Xialing. Oh, how she envied her right now.
“How come you’re—” Y/N waved her fingers in her direction to indicate Xialing's flawless self, even after a violent battle. “—not?”
Xialing shrugged, not losing another thought. “Guess I’m just lucky. I mean, you were literally under a mass of evil soul suckers.”
Y/N stretched out her arms at her sides, trying to see the humor of this situation now that everything was over. “Well, how do I look?”
Smiling indulgently, Xialing assured her with a flirty tone, “You never looked better,” before stepping towards Y/N.
She chuckled, not quite believing her. “If you say so.”
“Come here.” Xialing beckoned her with her index and middle finger on both hands, in an almost dancing motion. Despite those words, Xialing inched closer until they were barely separated by a few inches, Xialing’s soft smile met hers before her fingertips cleaned the residual blood from her skin with a light touch. “You did marvelous out there.”
Y/N gazed into her brown eyes. “Right back at you. Especially that thing you did with your rope dart?”
“You mean when I hit several in the sky at once? It felt spectacular.”
Y/N tilted her head and gazed at her in fascination. “Speaking of the sky, what is it like to ride a dragon by the way?”
Xialing exhaled a dreamy sigh with her eyes closed. “Honestly? Like pure freedom. Almost as good as sex.” At the last word, Xialing smirked wolfishly.
Y/N chuckled and rolled her eyes at Xialing’s aggressive flirt game. “Xialing,” she admonished her with a gravelly grunt.
“Y/N!”
Y/N jumped when she heard Shangqi call out, while feeling Xialing’s fingers linger around her cheeks. Y/N turned her head to glance behind her in anticipation.
Shangqi rushed through the frenzy of the battlefield, as if he was desperately looking for something. The next thing Y/N noticed was his messy hair and a smear of blood against his cheek. Shangqi held his hands to his mouth into an echoing gesture. “Y/N!”
Y/N felt frozen to the spot when Shangqi's brown-eyed gaze stared right at her.
Xialing sighed behind her. “Ever so dramatic.”
Y/N barely registered Xialing’s words when she slowly walked towards him.
Shangqi rushed towards her to close the distance between them.
Getting ready to hug him, surprise filled Y/N at seeing his clenched jaw and the determination on his face. Not knowing what was running through his head.
Shangqi was standing a few feet away from her when, out of nowhere, he pressed his lips against hers with fervor.
Y/N gasped in shock when she felt him cover her cheeks with his hands. It's been far too long since Shangqi kissed her, so she needed some time to react before she lifted her hands until they covered his hands.
Shangqi grunted low in his throat. Inhaling her scent deeply, he pecked her lips not once - but twice - before he nestled his lips against Y/N’s neck and breathed her in. “For a few seconds, the thought hit me that I could have lost you.”
Y/N stroked the back of his head in comfort. “What a horrible way to go. Defeated by flying demons? I’m just glad you’re still alive.”
Y/N slowly lifted Shangqi's lowered head until she could finally look into his eyes again. And seeing the naked vulnerability in them.
Shangqi opened his mouth and the next words coming out of them made Y/N groan out loud, “And you look horrible.”
“God, Yelena. Can’t you just be serious for once?”
Yelena’s green eyes sparkled with mischief. “I am. You’re telling me you were in some magical pocket dimension, fighting dragon demons, utterly drenched in their guts and Shaun – sorry – Shangqi just thought to himself how you looked absolutely perfect?”
Y/N narrowed her eyes before she paused with mistrust lingering in the air. “That name really flowed from your lips, Yelena.”
Yelena pressed her lips together before her expression shifted into an unabashed smirk. “You caught that, didn’t you?” She carelessly shrugged her shoulders. “My background checks are always very thorough. Besides, it wasn’t my secret to tell. I’m not one for drama, you know me.”
While staring at Yelena without blinking, Y/N reached for the straw in her drink sitting on the table between them, as she drank slowly with all the time in the world.
Finally, Yelena yielded when she rolled her eyes. “Okay, fine. Believe it or not, I didn’t want to spoil the budding romance between you two.” She internally groaned at the lovey-dovey word. “Young love, whatever you want to call it. Why didn’t you do a background check on him before?”
Y/N raised her eyebrows. “Sounds romantic.”
“I mean, he could’ve been a HYDRA defector, or something.”
Y/N resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the thought. “Don’t ruin my appetite.”
Yelena took a bite out of her omelet. “So, you just … left?” she inquired before snapping her fingers. “Just like that? No goodbye, no nothing? That’s cold, Y/L/N, even for me.”
A sigh left Y/N at the mention as she leaned back in her seat. “It felt wrong to stay. Everyone was saying their farewell to the people they lost. I felt like an imposter, like I didn’t belong there.”
“I understand.” Yelena nodded and gazed at her thoughtfully. “How was it like? Ta Lo, I mean? Being at such a fantastical place. It sounds almost too good to be true.”
Y/N smiled fondly, remembering all the otherworldly creatures. “Like a world filled with Pokémon.”
Yelena groaned with envy. “Next time, don’t tell me to run. You’re not mad at me that I just left, right?”
Y/N waved her hand. “No hard feelings. Besides, I wanted you to.”
“I kept calling your phone,” Yelena half-explained and half-scolded as a reminder.
“I know,” Y/N assured her, remembering the list of missed calls once she finally crossed that portal back into the real world.
“In that pocket dimension, cell service didn’t seem to be a possibility.” She tilted her head in curiosity once she saw the pondering expression on Yelena’s face. “What’s on your mind?”
“That it sounds too fantastical to be true. Like this is some elaborate story as an excuse why you didn’t pick up your phone.”
Tumblr media
~ Yelena POV ~
“Speaking of picking up your phone,” Yelena added, “I need to call someone. I’ll be right back. You should try the Screwdriver. I hear it’s spectacular at this place.” She pointed towards the aforementioned glass.
“If you say so. Hurry before I drink you dry.”
Yelena chuckled dryly. “I know I said it, but I might have to kill you, if there’s barely any left for me.”
Both joined in empty laughter which bordered on malicious.
With a smirk on her face, Y/N whispered, “Hurry then.” She gulped down half a glass without flinching.
Turning around, Yelena wiped the smirk from her lips, knowing how much Y/N wouldn't back down from a challenge - they both were the same in that regard - and counted on it. She walked in heeled boots towards the street corner which would overlook Y/N in the mirrored window. Yelena's time frame was very limited if she had to guess. She pressed the digits to call a certain someone before she held the device to her ear. “I hear you’re looking for someone.”
“Wh – Who’s this?”
“A concerned friend.”
“You mean a concerned friend who’s trying to sound ominous? Then yes, you certainly got that covered. Stop trying to sound like a blackmailer and tell me what you want.”
Yelena sighed deeply. This was proving to be harder than she initially thought. Eyeing Y/N in the reflection who scarfed down Yelena’s half-eaten omelet, her body almost attacked out of reflex before she thought better of it.
Time was of the essence.
“I hear you’re my sestra’s boyfriend – or lover – whatever you want to call yourself.”
“Don’t—” A sigh left Shangqi. “She never mentioned a sister.”
“Just like you never mentioned your past life? It’s not on me to judge.”
Silence lingered on the other end. “You’re a Black Widow, aren’t you?”
“Oh my, you’re smarter than I gave you credit for.”
Shangqi fell silent. “Uh, that didn’t sound like a compliment.”
Yelena ignored what he said. “You’re in luck because I’m in a giving mood, not to mention I want the best for my sestra. Are you intending to make an honest woman out of Y/N?”
“Uh…”
Yelena snorted with laughter. “I’m kidding. I don’t expect a proposal. I’ll text you a location. You’d better show up in the next five minutes, or you’ll get a very drunk Y/N.”
“What?”
“Bye.” Yelena turned around and glanced at Y/N from under her eyelashes while she sent Shangqi a text with the address to meet.
~Y/N POV~
Yelena stepped back to their outdoor table. “I’m back.” With a smile, she glanced at her plate. “Oh, naughty.” Yelena leaned forward and haphazardly cut into her omelet with a fork, trying the egg herself.
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows. “What is with you?”
Yelena chewed slowly. “What do you mean?”
“All of this. Why are you being … nice? I mean, you’re letting me share your food.”
“All of this. Why are you being … nice? I mean, you’re letting me share your food.”
“We ordered almost a whole buffet.” Yelena widened her arms.
Blinking slowly, Y/N paused in thought before she lost the alcoholic buzz all of a sudden.
“You don’t share food. Ever,” she spoke monotonously.
Yelena supported her chin on her chin as she leaned forward in fascination. “Careful, your paranoia is showing.”
Y/N narrowed her eyes. And with that, the Black Widow’s deflection tactics confirmed her suspicions. Y/N debated with herself what the catch was – there was no sniper on the roof. Perhaps the food was poisoned – it certainly seemed like a Widow’s style, although Yelena was more direct. She was more known for the straightforward knife at the front. Maybe she was trying to sell her out to some intelligence agency.
That had to be it. Keeping her breathing in check as not to arouse suspicion, Y/N realized that both hadn’t talked – only participated in this silent staring contest before fake chuckles left her.
Yelena didn't waste time in joining in and probably knowing how awkward this situation felt.
Y/N tilted her head in silent question when Yelena glanced to the right over her shoulder.
“Okay, I’m here now.”
Y/N turned in her seat with a bewildered expression on her face as she saw an out-of-breath Shangqi appear from behind her, wearing his signature red bomber jacket.
“What?” Y/N faced Yelena again in shock.
Yelena exhaled heavily. “Thank God. I didn’t know how long I could hold her off.”
“That was your secret? I thought you wanted to trade me to some HYDRA subdivision, or something.”
Yelena rolled her eyes. “As if. We’re sisters. Bound by something greater than blood. I don’t betray my family.” Standing up, she added in a jovial tone, “Well, I’m out.”
Y/N exhaled heavily, “Thanks a lot.” She sank into her seat, knowing there was no way out of this situation now.
Yelena sent her a saucy smirk over her shoulder while holding her handbag in a clenched fist. “You’re welcome, malenʹkij pauk. [little spider] Love you.”
Y/N took measured breaths in and out through her mouth. Her trepidation-filled eyes caught Shangqi slowly taking over the vacant seat which Yelena had occupied.
Trying to find the right start into a conversation, Y/N started with the obvious. “So, you’ve met Yelena.”
Shangqi nodded. “She’s a delight,” he muttered under his breath with his head lowered. “I think she just insulted me over the phone actually.”
Before Y/N could sate her curiosity, Shangqi lifted his head again to reveal his expression turning earnest. “You just left. You promised me you would stay, and we’d talk. What happened?”
Y/N sighed loudly at the awkward reminder. “It felt like a personal moment,” she admitted almost reluctantly. “saying goodbye to your loved ones. I didn’t want to barge in on it. Besides, who have I lost in life? You’d need to have a family, loved ones to mourn someone. Someone to love and care about you.”
Shangqi’s shoulders slumped in relief and his Adam's Apple bobbed. A light smile lingered on his lips. “And here I thought you were trying to run. To escape our talk.”
Y/N smiled tiredly. “It’s not that. Just holding it off. What can I say? I’m a procrastinator.”
“What makes you say you didn’t have anyone? You were taken from your mother.”
“Well, she died.” It took her by surprise how quick those words passed her lips. “Normally, I’d say this to make other people uncomfortable, but not with you. She was a single mother, so the Red Room didn’t want to take any chances by getting rid of her.”
“The Russians took enough from you. Taking your mother away from you, your childhood.”
Y/N exhaled and bit her lower lip, not knowing whether and how to even open that Pandora’s Box from the past.
“Are there any other ske – I mean, secrets I should know about?”
Y/N chuckled dryly. “Nice save.”
Shangqi smirked. “I know. I’m very smooth,” he teased, straightening the non-existent wrinkles from his shoulder.
Y/N chose to indulge him. “You sure are.” She turned serious again. “I’m trying to leave all that behind. My life … hasn’t been on the straight and narrow. A lot of things I’m not proud of. I just want to be … a normal girl whose only issues are eating too much junk food and trying to keep a stable relationship.”
Sending Y/N a molten gaze that set her body ablaze, Shangqi whispered, “You’re far from normal.”
“What about you? Any sexual exploits or assassinations to talk about?”
“No, same with me. I just want to live my life. Maybe have my best girl at my side…” He gazed at her from under his eyelashes.
Y/N tilted her head and teased him playfully, “You mean Katy? Didn’t know you were into her. You really are into building a solid foundation before starting a relationship, huh?”
Shangqi vigorously shook his head while explaining, “You know what I mean. I just want you. Living our life together. No pretense. I mean if you’re into that.”
“Very much,” she admitted with a whisper. “But…” All the memories hit her at the mention of secrets, knowing the truth needed to be out in the open, without anything holding her back.
“I won’t be able to give you one of the things you want the most.”
Shangqi narrowed his eyes in expectation.
“A child,” she continued.
Shangqi’s features tightened due to the ominous and yet vague answer.
“The Red Room never saw us as girls or women. We were soldiers, or weapons. We were things and didn't matter. So, they tried to get rid of the possibility of something that belonged to us. A part of our identity.”
Y/N felt her throat drying out, with every heavy breath she had to take. “They didn’t need vulnerabilities. That our alliances would shift.”
Y/N’s body stilled. Warmth blossomed inside her once her gaze fell and lingered on Shangqi’s hand covering hers on the table.
“I’m sorry how much they took from you.”
“I know how much you love kids. And I know I can’t give that to you.” Deep regret was laced in her whispered voice, with every ounce of wishing for things to be different.
Her stomach clenched at the feel of his hand caressing hers. “I don’t care about that. I just want to be happy. With you.” Shangqi’s cheeks reddened once another thought hit him. “And we … have other ways, you know?”
As soon as the deeper meaning behind those words rang true, Y/N’s chuckles wrenched free. She tilted her head, supporting her chin on her clenched fist. “You’re something else, you know that? I mean, we’re already talking about children.”
“Well, I was always too fast for my own good.”
Her eyes glinted with mischief. “Is that supposed to sound sexual?”
“No, I – I swear, no−”
Despite his stuttering words, Y/N smiled fondly. “You’re cute.”
Shangqi exhaled the breath he was holding. “As I keep hearing, but it’s still nice to hear.”
“What do you have planned for today?”
“I don’t know. You want to get some Boba?”
“Always,” she assured him.

~Yelena POV~
The blonde-haired woman shook her head. A smirk adorned her lips once she read the text message lighting up her screen.
“You dog,” Yelena spoke loudly and chuckled gruffly. Her eyes caught the message of her friend again and couldn’t help the mirthful shudders wrecking through her chest.
Second-best assassin: Shangqi is killing me. He’s this close to getting a dog, proposing to me, and adopting two children all in one day. He keeps talking about it. He’s not even being subtle about it. Help me!
Yelena snorted. Sarcasm was apparent in her answer when she replied in a text, “This is what you wanted, right? A dog, white picket fence … What did you do to the poor guy? He seems crazy about you.”
Second-best assassin: Poor him? Poor me. You’re supposed to tell me he’s insane and that I should drop his ass.
Yelena sighed wistfully, immersing herself into daydreams. “Gotta admit, he’s got a cute butt.”
Second-best assassin: Stop staring at my boyfriend’s – soon to be fiancé’s – butt.
“That’s the spirit,” Yelena sent back with a proud smirk. Her body stilled when the screen turned black and a call from a withheld number broke through. All the humor vanished from her face before her thumb hovered over the accept button. Her body erupted with heat as suspicion took hold of her.
With reluctant fingers, Yelena took the call as she spoke brusquely, “Who’s this and how did you get this number?”
The anonymous caller didn’t seem bothered by the tone in her voice and didn’t even miss a beat when she responded, “I’m calling on behalf of a mutual friend.”
Yelena furrowed her eyebrows. “I don’t have friends. There are only allies or enemies.”
The mysterious woman chuckled almost dryly. “So dramatic. I’m just the messenger. And is that any way to talk about your former handler?”
With her phone stilling at her ear, Yelena heart stopped beating before it almost burst through her chest. “How did you –?”
She licked her dry lips. This wasn’t possible. Her voice turned hoarse, betraying her true feelings when Yelena muttered under her breath, “Tatiana’s dead.”
It was true that nothing could’ve vanquished her former handler. A part of her refused to admit the alternative that something could kill the oh-so invulnerable woman, but there weren’t any other reports – even by the other Widows – to reveal her survival.
“The White Widow isn’t easy to kill. And she doesn’t go by that name anymore−”
Her right eye twitched with the budding foreplay. “Why are you calling me?”
“My employer heard you’ve been building an army.”
“I’ve been freeing Widows. I’m not doing it for self-gain,” Yelena corrected the anonymous one vehemently, feeling personally attacked by the arrogance in her robotic voice.
Yelena could basically sense the smirk on the stranger’s face. This was mere seconds before the woman chuckled low in her throat. “What a pity.”
“What do you want? Why wouldn't … the White Widow contact me herself?”
She chose her next words carefully. “My employer has other things to deal with at the moment.”
Yelena frowned in confusion at the peculiar phrasing. Way to sound mysterious. “Such as?” she questioned while tapping her foot impatiently.
“There’s a situation that would demand your immediate attention.”
“I refuse to work for anybody else. The last time I was screwed over, and I’m over that.”
“This involves the well-being of all the remaining Widows.”
This woman was starting to piss her off. Fury bubbled to the surface from the vague words. “Stop talking about them like a fucking robot. Besides, how am I supposed to believe you’re telling the truth? That you’re really working for … Tatiana?”
Silence echoed on the other end for about ten seconds. The longer it remained quiet, Yelena’s heartbeat pulsated in her chest.
“The White Widow was your main handler and she basically raised you.”
Yelena rolled her eyes. “Please, I bet that’s in one of my censored files.”
“When you were a student in the Red Room Academy, the White Widow would break your hand every time you’d fail. You think she did that to punish you for your failures, but in truth she wanted to strengthen your bones.”
Yelena opened her mouth several times before closing it again, feeling speechless at the memory resurfacing. Remembering all the times when Tatiana would break her bones in an almost clinical way, knowing exactly which spot to hit. Remembering her handler’s mask slipping and acknowledging it for one of the only moments of humanity in that godforsaken place.
Almost numb, Yelena whispered, “Where does she want me?”
“You’ll receive word soon. We want you to be ready. If you truly care about the Black Widows staying safe,” she paused with lingering silence before confessing, “And she goes by Talia now.”

CUDDLING WITH SHANG-CHI
A/n: I can't stop thinking about this HC; I just know he gives the best cuddle time ever.
Warning: None! So much fluff, sugary sweets that rot your teeth (and silly moments).
Tumblr media
Shang-Chi is definitely a human heater.
Love to wrap his arm around you and kiss the back of your neck.
You guys would chit-chat about anything tbh.
The cuddle always ends with you and him having a nap.
And this is where the fun part begins lol
Listen, I know Shang-Chi (personally; source? Trust me bro) and I'm not going to romanticize everything about this man.
He falls asleep very fast and is a heavy sleeper.
He still holds you very close to him, not in a suffocating way, but in a snuggling way.
But Shang-Chi sleeps like a log, and on some days he will be slightly snoring.
He is always the big spoon at the start of cuddling and ends up as the little spoon when you guys wake up.
Specifically, when you wake up
Like I said, he is a heavy sleeper, and the fact that you're beside him makes him feel even more relaxed and happy, so that boy ain't waking up soon.
And if you do manage to wake him up, he will say "5 more minutes, babe" without opening his eyes.
Later on, you check on him, and he's like this 💀💀
Tumblr media
Nothing can beats cuddling time with Shang-Chi tbh; it's not a big deal but just being in his presence is enough to make you feel safe.
Idk I feel his energy and vibe; I cannot explain it (and I'm a person who absolutely hates being touched).

May I have Shang-Chi from marvel with #3?
A/N - WOOHOO! I love this for Shang Chi, thanks for requesting this, anon!
6 Years
Summary - Katy wants to hear the story, again.
Tumblr media
Warnings - Just some fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Come on, you gotta tell me again!”
“I told you this story already, Katy,”
“I know, but she[’s better at telling the story than you,”
“Gee, thanks,” You said laughing as you leaned back in your chair, Shang Chi’s arm behind yours on the backrest as Katy was sitting across from you two in the deserted karaoke bar.  Shang took a good look at you, having you shrug as you looked over at Katy and shifted in your chair.
“It started about 3 weeks ago,” You explained to her, seeing Katy watch in wrapped attention as you kept going with the story, “Shang over here was convinced we need to get a deep dish pizza, at 12:30 in the morning,”
“In my defense,” Shang interrupted lightly in his chair, “I was craving it all day and I knew the only place in all of San Francisco that did deep dish after midnight: Papa Johnny’s, remember?”
“Duh,” Katy replied with a wave off to him, “Don’t interrupt and let her talk!”
“Anyways,” You said, Shang rolling his eyes as you chuckled, “I went along with him because I was also hungry, and there was nothing else to do after I finished that one paper I was working on.  So we go, and this one had the genius idea to take the trolly.  Word of advice Katy: never take the trolly after midnight.  Some of the weirdest people there, including Shang,”
“Hey!” Shang said, poking your side as you giggled.
“That’s when you found out?” Katy asked, you both shaking your heads.
“Nope, not on the trolly. We made it to the pizza parlor and had the deepish he wanted: Cheese with extra cheese.  I had to hand it to him, it was quite delicious and really good at 12:30 in the morning,”
“Totally called it,” Shang replied with a smug, thought you smacked him with your hand and he laughed, “I’m just saying, I knew it was going to be good!”
“After that, we were heading on our way home when the rain storm hit,” You went on with the story, grinning from the memory, “We tried to get a trolly but we missed the last one of the night.  So we walked.”
“In the rain?” Katy asked, you and Shang nodding as Katy gave a mocking romantic look, “How romantic.  That’s when you knew, right?”
“Not just yet,” Shang answered for her, “We both braved the rain and hid under cover at one of those pop-up pawn shops that were a block away from my place, the rain was coming down so hard we didn’t want to risk it.  So we were stranded for a good twenty minutes, and that’s when I kissed her.”
You beamed as Katy was mockingly throwing up, though some patrons around you were staring from hearing the noise.  Shang just glared at Katy as she laughed.
“It’s so cute it's gross, okay?” She asked with a shrug to him.
“And that…that is where we knew we loved each other,” You ended the story for her, looking from Katy over at Shang who was smiling just as big as you were.  It made your inside all warm and soothing, replaying that moment under the awning of the pawn shop with pouring rain around you and Shang pulling you in for a kiss.  It felt like heaven, even with the shivering cold from the rain and the small stale taste of the pizza on your tongue.  You still felt sparks from Shang, literally sparks in your stomach and all around your fingers and toes.
“Man….your first soulmate date,” Katy said in a gasp, leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms, “Was it all it was meant to be and more?”
“I kind of wished I had more planned out, but I think it was perfect anyways,” Shang explained, though you rolled your eyes.
“I thought it was perfect, I wouldn’t change it,” You countered with him, “As far as soulmate dates go, ours is up there.”
“It’s true, I’ve heard of worst ones,” Katy hummed at Shang, “Like my second cousin’s first soulmate date: the stuff of literal nightmares.  Just be thankful that you two knew each other before you found out you were soulmates,”
You looked down at the small mark on your hand near your thumb, a distinct birthmark in the shape of a crescent on the space between your thumb and pointer finger.  It was a mark you were born with, always wondering who had the same mark themselves and if you were ever going to meet him.  Going through your childhood into your teen years, you still held onto that wonder and onto that notion of who it was.  When you would meet them.  What they would be like.
That all changed on Shang’s first day at your school.
Up until that point, you hide your mark on your hand, not wanting others to see and ask you twenty questions on if you ever met your soulmate or found them.  It wasn’t that you lost your hope for finding your soulmate, you would rather focus on other things and not too much on hope.  Shang first was your friend, meeting you through Katy and you two ended up good friends all the way through high school and beyond.  He was wonderful with you as a friend, you felt butterflies every once in a while with him because of his humor and his kindness to others.
Finally, after one night hanging out together 1 month ago with Katy at your apartment, your sleeve slipped and your mark was showing.  Shang saw it, his eyes going big and he looked like he went into shock.  You were about to ask him what was going on when he looked at you dead in the eyes, reaching down to move down the sock on his right leg.
A crescent, just like yours.
“I can’t believe my two best friends are soulmates, and it only took them about 6 years to figure It out!” Katy said in a huff.
“Thank you for the reminder, Katy,” You thanked her, though she winked and gestured to the bar behind her.
“I’ll get us another round of drinks,” She explained as she got up and literally skipped over.  You and Shang exchanged looked, Shang let you lean over to rest your head on his shoulder.
“Did you ever wish we got together sooner?” Shang asked you in curiosity.
“God no,” You replied, “We needed to be friends first before we realized we were soulmates.  I think it worked out perfectly,”
“Me too,” Shang agreed, kissing the side of your head as you both watched Katy come back with three drinks in hand.
Yeah, 6 years of friendship and then being soulmates was perfect for you two.
The End.

Places to be 🇸🇬
Avengers x Reader (Headcanon)
A/N: Super self-indulgent but much pride 💕 I would do a few avengers first to see how it goes and the reception? PG-13
Notes: How I think the Avengers would enjoy the little red dot😬 And lemme put it out there first, I’m writing food you can find in Singapore! Not trying to gatekeep where food originates from!
***
Shangqi
He would adapt the best given his heritage.
Forget touristy traps, he’s going to the mecca of all food places. The hawker centers!
Credit: Shunfu Hawker Centre
Tumblr media
He almost snaps his neck trying to see what to eat. In the end, he settles for a little of everything.
His favorite is prawn noodles though. Oh… the broth…🤤
Credit: Quan Ann Prawn Mee @ Shunfu Hawker Centre
Tumblr media
Stephen Strange
The National Museum of Singapore!
Tumblr media
He would appreciate the photographs and stories of immigrants and veterans that fought to make what the country was today.
He would get brochure and maybe even read up beforehand before coming to enhance the experience.
After the tour, he goes to grab some snacks to munch on while reading more on the history. Who could resist Kaya Balls?
Tumblr media
Peter Parker
Cycling!
The Green Corridor is a route approximately stretching 20km/12 miles from residential areas to the city.
Tumblr media
It’s mostly just fauna for most of the ride but he loves the feeling of whizzing by without any traffic lights and nature itself! He could use some tranquility in his life for once.
He ends of the ride outside City Hall, before scampering up to try the famous fish noodles with milk! Don’t forget the fried egg (on top left)!
Credit: Chai’s Original Sliced Fish Soup @ City Hall
Tumblr media
Thor
This man can drink in case you didn’t know.
He’ll do great at Clark Quay, an area to catch up and let your hair down.
Tumblr media
In his case? Literally. The people love him though, they’ve seen him on international news. A few even ask to take photos with him and he happily obliges.
But it takes three Avengers to drag him back to the hotel. Maybe four if you count Loki who doesn’t know what he’s doing there when he could be at the museum with Stephen.
Clint being the team’s unofficial dad begrudgingly goes out to the Hawker Center to grab some Lotus Soup the next day to cure his hangover. Don’t forget the rice - like don’t.
Tumblr media
A/N: I drooled while trying to come up with this short headcanon🤤 Also, I hope it’s ok! Little nervous so will be grateful to see/hear how it goes!

Comforting You
Tumblr media
Pairing: Xu Shangqi x f. reader
Genre: angst + fluff
Warnings: sadness, crying, Shangqi being the bf we all deserve
Summary: quick headcanons on how Shangqi comforts you when you're sad
Word Count: 615
Notes: Tbh I am in a pretty low state rn and I haven't been in the mood to do much, but I remembered that I wrote these headcanons a while back when I was sad over starting my last semester. Rereading them brightened up my spirits a little bit so I hope they bring you some comfort too! Remember to reblog and comment if you enjoyed what you read 😊
Tumblr media
Shangqi would give you your space if you wanted to lie in bed, but, of course, being the protective boyfriend he is, he would check on you every hour. While he checked on you, he would give you kisses on your cheeks and forehead and refill your water when he would find it empty.
He called off the day he was supposed to go to work just to shop for your favorite snacks and the ingredients to your favorite meal from childhood. You had no idea he ditched work to go shopping for you so you spent most of the day sleeping and playing a random TV show to fill the silence of the room.
When Shangqi got back, he found you fast asleep with your phone in your hand. He replaced your phone with a box of Hello Panda before he got to work on dinner. Shangqi wasn’t the best cook. Shit he could barely make a grilled cheese, but he was determined to get this meal right just for you. Even if it meant face timing one of your family members just so someone can validate that he was cooking correctly.
An hour later, you woke up and felt the cardboard box instead of your phone in your hand. Blinking your eyes, you saw the Hello Panda design and a faint smile finally appeared on your face. Suddenly, the familiar smell of your favorite food in the whole world filled your nose.
Curiously, you got out of bed and stretched your body for what felt like five minutes. Once you walked out into the kitchen, you gasped when you found Shangqi filling two bowls of your favorite food. He looked up, sensing the sound of your gasp, and gave you a soft smile.
“Is that-” you began but Shangqi nodded happily.
“Yeah, I really hope I do it justice. I had to call one of your relatives just to make sure I wouldn’t mess up.” He let out a short laugh, placing both bowls on the table that had a bouquet of flowers in the middle. You were at a loss for words when Shangqi pulled out your chair, allowing you to sit down. He, then, moved his seat so then you were both facing each other.
“I can’t imagine what you are going through right now. It hurts me to see you like this.” Shangqi inhaled deeply to fight back tears. You felt the tears form in your eyes, too, but you let him finish speaking. “Don’t ever forget that I’m always here for you, my little gem. I love you so much. I’m never gonna give up on you…or us, okay?”
The tears started flooding from your eyes as silent sobs fell from your lips. Shangqi pulled you into his embrace and rubbed your back as you cried into his chest.
He’d whisper, “I know, my little gem, I hear you. It’s okay to cry.” A few tears would fall on the top of your head as he would kiss it in between his words. Once you were all cried out, you both basked in the silence.
“I love you, Shangqi! I don’t know how I got so lucky to be your girlfriend.” You finally choked out. Shangqi chuckled, tucking your matted hair out of your face.
“I should be asking how I got so lucky with you. You’re the best thing to ever happen to me!” You smiled at him before kissing him tenderly. After kissing him, you sat back down in your chair, scooting it next to Shangqi so you can lead your head on his shoulder while you ate your dinner that he, surprisingly, did not fuck up.

“So, who wants to go first?”
The tension-filled silence only made things worse as soon as Wenwu gazed expectantly into the eyes of his ‘guests’. Shangqi’s sister glanced at them with a bored expression as she used the chopsticks to play with her food.
The only thing anchoring Y/N to the present was Shangqi holding her hand at her side under the table which covered a variety of foods.
Unsatisfied with the group not showing a reaction, Wenwu rested his arms against the table, putting his bracelets on full display. In Y/N’s head, she couldn’t help calling them that, knowing how much it bothered Wenwu when she dubbed them like that out loud. That thought alone put a smile on her face.
Y/N slowly turned her head to gaze at the man, only to feel his inquisitive stare on her already.
“Y/N, how are your ribs feeling by the way?”
Shangqi’s face hardened at the reminder of her injury before Y/N felt his fingers caressing her hand in comfort.
Y/N smirked, trying to get a rise out of rigid terrorist leader. “Oh, I’ve never been better. Nothing beats having your bracelets hit against the side of my body with a lethal force. You should try it some time.”
“Don’t call them ‘bracelets’, child,” Wenwu spoke slowly with narrowed eyes.
Xialing, who was sitting opposite them, chuckled under her breath. “I like this one,” she said before pointing her chopsticks at her and turned back to her meal.
“You tried to kill her,” Shangqi threw in, with simmering anger in his voice. In any other situation his protectiveness would be flattering or even arousing, but the ache at her side and the insidious situation they were in, took over her mind more.
“Don’t be dramatic. A Black Widow knows how to fend for herself after all.”
Y/N exhaled heavily. She was still processing the literal bomb Wenwu just dropped before she even comprehended that Shangqi let go of her in shock. Her stomach clenched once the realization hit her that Wenwu managed to hit her where it would hurt the most. The life she built for herself. The life she built together with Shangqi.
Y/N swallowed thickly as she turned her head to look at Shangqi pleadingly. Silently begging him to look at her.
Despite the silence taking over the room, the blood rushed to her head, making her feel all woozy from the incoming ringing taking over. With her heartbeat racing nervously in Y/N’s chest, she could feel Xialing’s intrigued stare on her.
“Wait, you’re a Black Widow, for real? Like, Natasha Romanoff-Black Widow?” Katy asked with a hoarse voice made of surprise and reverie. Y/N didn’t know whether her friend’s admiration was for her former status as a Black Widow or her connection to Romanoff.
The mere mention made Y/N abruptly face her with a venomous glare. “Don’t mention that name.”
Satisfied with that outcome, Wenwu laced his fingers together. Smug apathy took over his features. It made Y/N wonder what horrors he had to face in his immortal life to gain that perspective that people were just disposable.
“To be honest, I knew you meant something to my son and … you were just a means to an end. I didn’t really care in what kind of state you’d end up.”
Y/N leaned forward in her chair. “Just admit it,” she glared at Wenwu with her next words, “you send my sisters after me, you’re trying to have me killed.”
The stillness of Shangqi’s body was starting to worry her as her anxious eyes met the side of his head. “Shangqi? Please look at me,” Y/N begged him openly, knowing how rare it was for her to admit her vulnerabilities. To earnestly admit her feelings.
Shangqi stubbornly faced the table and settled his arms on the table, openly defying her wish for closeness. Shangqi was all about showing affection - it was one of the things that unsettled her upon meeting him. How the Red Room upbringing had enforced her to remain unfeeling, not to let anyone get close to her and never to trust anyone. It was strange how she craved Shangqi’s sign of affection by a simple touch.
He merely clenched his jaw, refusing to face her again.
Wenwu asked with an innocent voice, “Oh, you didn’t tell him about that? That’s harsh.”
Tumblr media
It turned out a ‘family’ dinner could turn out even more awkward than previously thought. If Wenwu’s monologue about the Mandarin’s impersonation and appropriation of the Ten Rings wasn’t bad enough, Shangqi’s cold exterior was.
Y/N felt like she was on the outside looking in of this intimate and most tension-fueled event. Her skin was burning from Shangqi not even sparing her another glance.
Y/N clenched her jaw and focused her eyes straight ahead. Astonishment hit her once Y/N met the soft-eyed glance of Xialing as Shangqi’s sister let sympathy shine through like a blanket.
“I’ll let you freshen up,” Wenwu cleansed his fingers with a light-colored napkin that complimented his dress shirt and casually threw it on the table before standing up, “and I will meet you all in my office to talk about things.”
The moment that Wenwu’s presence was gone, and the heavy tension left with him – save for Shangqi’s which left a pang in her chest - the body language of everyone changed dramatically.
“Guys, please tell me we’re not sticking around for this lunatic. No hard feelings, man,” Katy admitted with honesty.
“None taken,” Xialing and Shangqi retorted simultaneously.
“And no. We’ll see what his plan is and then we’re getting the hell out of here.” Her brother assured them.
Tumblr media
The escape from the Ten Rings headquarters turned out messier and even more fantastical than Y/N had expected. Getting her gear back, discovering the former Mandarin imposter, escaping with the former Mandarin imposter through a magical maze and reaching the magical dimension of Ta Lo.
A small part of Y/N believed that Xialing reveled in the misery of her older brother when she took the seat by the door, effectively squeezing Y/N into a tight space with Shangqi. Being able to feel every sharp turn - or more like his strong muscles, as they tensed with every colliding touch.
The fact that this was such a fantastical place wasn’t the only factor to make Y/N feel so out of place. It was the distance Shangqi kept between him and her. It felt like Y/N was merely tolerated for the ride and she hated being the passive force.
The cooing noise under her fingertips pulled her out of her thoughts and made Y/N look down to one of the fantastical animals which habituated this home territory that had slowly inched towards her as she ruminated on the patch of grass. Upon further observation it appeared to be a hybrid of a red-golden winged lion. Absentmindedly, Y/N stroked the soft feathers of its wings and watched its wide golden eyes settle on her as it snuggled deeper along her calves.
“You seem to have a magical touch.”
The sudden voice made Y/N look up in curiosity.
Xialing was wearing her new silver-black armor as she inched towards her with casual steps - a description she wouldn’t have associated with the rigid sister. If anything, due to her upbringing, it gave Y/N the impression that Xialing tried not to spook her.
Shrugging her shoulders, Y/N gave her new feathery friend her full attention.
“I never thought I’d enter a world where I ever encountered a Pixiu,” Xialing whispered almost in awe, like this animal was something to worship. Her eyes didn’t leave the animal’s form as she knelt down and sat cross-legged.
“Do you know the story behind them?” Her fingers cautiously stroked the back as its wings flapped from the care it was receiving.
Curiosity shone in Y/N’s eyes as she looked up, bonding over the purring hybrid. “Not that well-versed in Chinese Mythology,” she admitted.
“The males are a symbol of wealth, while the females are supposed to ward off evil. It seems you found a female,” Xialing explained calmly, just in time to have another dragon lion get closer and willingly snuggled at her hips before nudging her with his head. This one had a different color though, in blue-and-gold feathers.
Y/N raised a teasing eyebrow. “And you’re saying I’m the one with the magic touch?”
Xialing smirked indulgently. “Usually, animals shy away from me.”
“Is that supposed to mean something? That they have some sort of instinct to keep away from you?”
“Probably my own inhibition to get close.”
“It’s all about training, Xialing. You can train or manipulate your body for anything.”
As soon as the word ‘training’ left Y/N’s mouth, Xialing cleared her throat. “Speaking of training, is it true that the Red Room program only trained women?”
Y/N exhaled heavily and dropped her head. The moment the female Pixiu sensed the loss of her touch, she jumped into her lap, making her jolt with a humph.
Absentmindedly, she stroked the hybrid’s stomach which felt strangely furry than feathery. “I was wondering when someone would mention that part.” She inhaled deeply and gazed into the sky. “Girls,” Y/N corrected her, feeling that the distinction was pretty important. “They train young girls to turn them into assassins.”
“How old were you when they−?”
“Took me? About 7. It’s just easier to mold kids into their perfect killers and manipulators when they’re still young and … pliable? Simpler to play with their minds when they’re still easy to impress. To shape us into what the instructors wanted us to become.”
Xialing’s eyes shifted, trying to come up with words. “I’m not good with comforting people.”
In that regard - of wearing your heart on your sleeve - Xialing was certainly nothing like her brother.
Y/N cleared her throat. “I don’t … want you to?”
Xialing nodded her head mechanically, rocking her upper body back and forth. “That’s great to hear. That’s cool.” She pressed her lips together before awkwardly adding with an exhaling breath, “Cool.”
A pregnant pause settled in the air before Xialing asked, “So, uh, what’s your name again?”
Y/N snorted at her crude social skills, yet still replied, “Y/N” while waving to her chest.
“Xialing, the forgotten sister.”
Y/N raised her eyebrows at the offhanded remark and felt utterly torn between wanting to defend Shangqi and knowing how much the sister was at a disadvantage with the way her own father barely even glanced at her at his compound.
Y/N sighed and glanced when the flutter of wings touched her legs. “Would you prefer it if I defended Shangqi or you?”
Xialing sent her a side-eyed glance which was filled with annoyance. “You know, as much as I don’t want to be judgmental−”
“I’m getting the feeling that you’re still going to.”
She continued as if Y/N hadn’t said a thing, “−but what do you see in him again? You’re like way out of his league.”
Y/N scoffed with laughter which turned almost wheezing.
“Who am I kidding? You’re like leagues ahead. You're not even playing the same sport.”
“I love the vote of confidence.”
“I mean, who would have thought? A Black Widow and my brother? Talk about mind-blowing.”
“That would imply that we were on good terms, you know, since we’re not. Your brother has been giving me the silent treatment ever since we arrived at this place.”
“Listen…” The Pixiu purred underneath her fingertips while Xialing stroked the feathers of the male creature, “we don’t have time for regrets. As I much as I can’t stand my brother sometimes, you two need to have that conversation, before mayhem ensues. The way I know my father, it is going to come. Before it’s too late.”
Astonishment shone in Y/N’s eyes at her profound words, seeing the other woman in a different light. “Xu Xialing, I wouldn’t have pegged you as a romantic.”
Xialing rolled her eyes. “I’ll deny everything when someone asks,” she threatened lightly with glaring eyes. Xialing tilted her head and pursed her lips in mock contemplation. “Or I could kick your ass right here, right now.”
Y/N chuckled. “You’re funny. Shangqi should’ve told me he had a funny sister.”
“I’m serious.”
Y/N gazed into her brown eyes. “You think you could beat me in a fight?”
“I could ask you the same thing,” Xialing mused thoughtfully before sending Y/N a teasing smirk. Her eyes shone with a daring glimmer which had the intended effect when a jolt coursed through her body.
“I know you’re just trying to get to me, but challenge accepted.” With these words, Y/N stood up from her cross-legged position. “Try to keep up, would you?”
Xialing sneered. “That’s funny.”
Tumblr media
“You’re cheating,” Xialing stated with a raspy voice.
A snort left her lips. “I would hardly call this cheating.”
Her hand was still rubbing the sore spot on her throat before Xialing sent her a judgmental stare. “You just punched me in the throat. You seem to have a loose definition of cheating.”
Y/N smirked. “You say that now and you haven’t even met my friend yet. She basically created the whole playbook of cheating. How do you think I survived your father? By being honest?”
The mention of her father made her spring into action. Xialing leaped in the air with her hand clenched into a fist.
It made a thumping sound against her wrist to block the attack which had a flurry of fists to follow. Y/N grunted before she switched back into strike mode and hit Xialing’s face with the back of her elbow, making the other woman let out a pained grunt.
A taken-aback gasp pulled her out of the moment before Y/N looked back and saw that they had lured quite a crowd of onlookers watching the spectacle. Including Katy who covered her mouth with her hands.
Shangqi standing next to his best friend, with his arms crossed over his chest and a frown on his face, made Y/N hesitate for a second.
It was all Xialing needed to trip her feet. Y/N fell backwards, with Xialing’s triumphant grin on her face as she was standing above her.
Xialing’s pride soon shifted into dread.
Y/N scissored her legs around Xialing’s neck. Pulling her opponent towards her until they were face-to-face, Y/N kept her arm in a tight lock, pressing against her pressure point on her wrist.
“Yield,” Y/N hissed through gritted teeth.
“You first,” came Xialing’s reply.
“Five more seconds and you will faint; with the way I’m pressing on your wrist. You’re probably feeling fuzzy already.”
Xialing blinked twice. “It’s a tie,” she grunted with wheezing breaths. The chokehold and the grip on her wrist were probably slowly getting to her.
“Agreed.” Despite the knowledge how Y/N could render her immobile, she released her thighs around her neck.
Xialing inhaled deeply before grunting. “Guess we need to do that again.”
Y/N’s head did a double-take from her statement. “Come again?”
Xialing squatted onto her knees before straightening into a standing position. Y/N looked up, just as Xialing’s hand was offered at her eyelevel.
“I could use a capable sparring partner,” Xialing admitted with a soft smile – an expression which Y/N wouldn’t have expected coming from her.
She accepted her help in standing up and brushed a few sweaty strands away from her forehead. “You’re very optimistic for someone whose father is intending to bring about the end of the universe.”
Xialing shrugged, almost brushing her body against hers as she stepped closer. “What can I say? I believe in delayed gratification. Baby steps, you know?”
“Really? Wouldn’t have figured.”
Something moving in the side of her eye made Y/N turn her head to see the dark-haired head of Shangqi moving further away with brisk steps, with his arms clenched at his sides.
Y/N furrowed her brows and glanced in confusion at Katy, hoping for some answers. Her long dark hair whipped through the air to glance back at her friend before switching her gaze between Y/N and Xialing and mouthed, “I don’t know.”
Y/N sighed under her breath, but still felt her feet lingering.
“Talk to my brother. There’s still time to train for later,” Xialing acquiesced with a soft voice.
Y/N turned her head with the corners of her mouth pulling downwards, hating that Xialing wanted to be the voice of reason. Still, Y/N hesitated.
Xialing insisted though. “Come on. We don’t have the luxury to have regrets, remember? Or do you want me to kick your butt again?”
Y/N ignored the apparent lie and narrowed her eyes in thought, teasing, “I’d prefer to fight you instead, actually.” Than to face Shangqi, remained unsaid. Nonetheless, she groaned before slowly moving in the direction where Shangqi had wandered off to.
Y/N cursed her quickly beating heart in her chest once her eyes met the broad shoulders of the man who had shunned her from the minute of Wenwu’s seed of mistrust. Shangqi had sought refuge at some sort of shrine which honored his departed mother.
Nervously licking her lips, Y/N was careful not to disrupt the sentimental mood he was in when she softly spoke, “What was she like?”
“I don’t remember,” Shangqi uttered with a grunt.
What a load of crap.
Her eyes focused on the tenseness of his shoulders ever since he sensed her presence. “That’s a lie,” Y/N paused, letting it linger in the air, “I might have been taken by the operatives of the Red Room off the streets of Koronadal when I was a young girl, but I still remember my mother as I cling to any kind of memory, I still got left of her.”
Shangqi jerkily shook his head, almost like he was in denial. “I can’t do this.” He turned his body and walked with brisk steps in her direction, but he averted his eyes as he tried to escape her.
Y/N would have none of it when she deliberately stepped in front of Shangqi. “Can’t have this conversation? Tell me something, what bothers you more? The fact that I used to be a Black Widow or that you found out from your father?”
Shangqi exhaled heavily through his nose as he braced his hands on his waist. His eyes wandered around before he exhaled with a grunt, “I’m not – that’s not –” With a glare, he gazed directly into her eyes. “Were you ever going to tell me?”
Y/N felt heat rise in her, almost in provocation from Shangqi’s defensive tone.
Well, two could play this game.
“Were you?” she asked with a counterquestion while her eyebrows rose high and felt silently confirmed through Shangqi’s clenched jaw. “See? It wouldn’t have mattered who you were or who I was because that part of my life was over.”
Y/N narrowed her eyes in speculation before her voice shifted into a whisper, “You know, it’s strange. I didn’t blame you for who your father is, but still, I never thought you would be the one to judge me instead.”
Shangqi tilted his head, refusing to believe her innocence which strangely hurt before he taunted, “Kind of far-fetched though, isn’t it? A Black Widow getting together with the son of the most dangerous terrorist in the world. I mean, what are the chances?”
Her eyes widened.
“Wow, and I thought I had issues with trusting people.”
Shangqi crossed his arms. “Was any of it even real? What you told me?”
Y/N deflated with her next exhaling breath. “I never lied to you about that. How I’m … scared of crowds of people or that I’m sensitive to sounds. When you grow up in the Red Room where all the girls were only allowed to speak when the operatives allowed us to, you tend to … loathe some noises.”
Y/N snorted in derision. What was the point of all of this? “Maybe Yelena was right. I was fooling myself into thinking I could have a normal life. To share my life with someone, be happy. To forget who I was.”
Y/N stroked her arms, hating herself for being vulnerable like that in front of him. Dejectedly, she shook her head. “But what does it matter? Nothing I say is going to change your mind about me. Why bother?”
Remembering how much Y/N tried to stop Shangqi from leaving and realizing the irony of it as she attempted to go with a twist of her body.
The warmth against her lower arm caught her by surprise before she glanced down to find Shangqi had caught her arm as his hand lingered. “Wait. I don’t – I can’t – This is too much. I can’t think about … me and you when there’s literally the fate of the universe at stake.”
“I get it,” she sighed before ruffling her fingers through her hair. “Anyway, your sister is going to deny it when asked but she thought it’d be a good idea to have that talk.”
A smirk tugged at Shangqi’s lips. “Didn’t take Xialing for being a romantic.”
“Yes, it’s hard to believe.”
Inhaling slowly, Shangqi gazed at Y/N with a pondering expression. “How high are the chances that you’re going to leave this place and get back to San Francisco?”
Y/N tilted her head at the suggestion. “And accidentally bump into your father? Very unlikely, Shangqi.” She pursed her lips. “Only you would reject the help of a Black Widow.”
“I just want you safe. I don’t want you to get hurt because of me. I get it, you’ve been trained by the best of the best, but…”
Not having expected that, something softened inside Y/N at Shangqi’s confession. They weren’t exactly the best at being vulnerable, as much as Shangqi tended to wear his heart on his sleeve. At least one of them had to. Trying to make him feel better and to alleviate his worries, Y/N spoke softly, “I’m not that well-versed with the magic stuff, so don’t hold it against me for not wanting to fight on the front lines.”
Shangqi exhaled deeply. “That’s a relief. Just …” His hand lingered in the air, as it hovered a few inches above her cheek before he finally stroked her skin. Warmth blossomed from within her body at the familiar touch. “Promise me you’ll be careful.”
Feeling her cheeks redden, Y/N felt hypnotized by his dark gaze. “You too.”
“Promise me we’ll talk later.”
Y/N nodded once before she smiled fondly at Shangqi’s insistence. “I promise. See you on the other side.”
“Not if I see you first,” Shangqi whispered quietly.

Imagine if the reader is Shang-Chi's lover, and while Katy and he were going through some serious trouble (like in the movie), Y/n was just enjoying their vacation on the other side of the planet like…
*Katy screaming for her life in near death situations*
-Cut to Y/n enjoying a new tropical drink-
*Shang-Chi having a brutal fight with his own DAD*
-Cut to Y/n taking picture of a sunset-
And when Y/n is back from vacation, all three of them will be staring at each other like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y/n: What....the fuCK happened to YOU TWO??? WHY- are they bruises? OH mY- hi bae missed you a lot *give Shang-Chi a quick kiss* BUT WHAT HAPPENED?
Katy: *trying not to smile*
Shang-Chi: *whispered softly* don't
Katy: *take a deep breath*
Y/n:...
Katy: A GUY WITH A FREAKING MACHETE FOR AN ARM-
Shang-Chi: NO-
(and this is them later, Y/n protecting Katy from Shang-Chi 😭😭)

Oh no what fandom drama happened? Not wanting to throw hands I'm just genuinely curious.

If you go to Namor's tags, i.e.: namor x reader, namor imagine and such, you'll see a bunch of discourse post about how white writers being problematic.
I believed it started when a blog posted a preview to their fic that depicting/implying lollita relationship with Namor, using white image and what looked like a much older man, hence lollita/icky predatory relationship. This sort of transpired to overall just white writers not respecting the character and fetishizing him. Things like have him speak in Spanish, which disregarding his hatred toward the language and the colonization of his people, r*pe/dub con/non con trope, the whole meeting Y/N when she was a child (yikes!) thing too. All these perpetuating many racist stereotype that are harmful.
Many people are mad, and understandably so. When we got a representation like what we got now, we just have to be mindful, especially writing for a character that is rich with culture and back story.
And honestly, I understand the sentiment. When first Shang-Chi came out, I also gatekeeping hard because there was problem with people just refer to him as "Shang" not "Shang-Chi/Shangqi" or "Shaun". I could go on about Asian Diaspora and name reclamation, but this post aint about that. This post is about POC voicing their opinion on character that they feel strongly about.
So yes, that's the sum of it. Anyone that have more thought on this matter, feel free to add more.

I might stop reading comics for a while once I finish Scarlet Witch. I don’t hear a lot of good things lately, and frankly I’m only really reading for the X-Men & Mutant content right now. So like. If they decide to blow up Krakoa and end that era like I suspect, I’m done. I’m out. For all the flaws in this it was the only genuinely creative thing Marvel has done in like thirty years. The fact that all the Avengers comics can do is generic end of the world plot 663,222,972,109 is proof of that.
Frankly, you nerds and I come up with shit ten times more fun than the actual companies ever could. Do you think Marvel would ever be brave enough to have Shangqi and Dane fuck in some five star restaurant? They are canonically too cowardly to have Ares enter into a profane pact with Daken for sexual favors 🤣
I will not admit that I just want all media I consume to be vaguely sexual shut up
