Cardan Greenbriar
Description : Cardan gets jealous when someone tries to flirt with his wife
warning : jealousy, flirtation, mentions of passionate encounters
Cardan Greenbriar, the High King of Elfhame, sat regally on his throne in the grand court hall. The room was filled with faerie nobility and members of the court, their elegant attire shimmering under the soft glow of the chandeliers. Y/n, his human wife, stood beside him, her fiery spirit contained within the delicate beauty of her features.
As the court meeting progressed, a young faerie nobleman named Alistair approached Y/n, a smug smile playing on his lips. He was known for his flirtatious nature and overconfident demeanor, thinking himself irresistible to any woman.
Alistair leaned in closer to Y/n, his voice dripping with arrogance. "My lady Y/n, I must say, you look even more stunning than usual today. I can't help but be captivated by your beauty."
Y/n raised an eyebrow, unimpressed by his attempt at charm. "Save your flattery, Alistair. I have no interest in your idle compliments." Undeterred, Alistair persisted, his voice filled with arrogance. "Ah, but my dear Y/n, wouldn't it be thrilling to experience a night of passion with someone of my caliber? I assure you, it would be an unforgettable experience."
Cardan's gaze narrowed as he caught wind of Alistair's audacity. He was well aware of Y/n's allure and the attention she attracted, but his love for her burned fiercely, and he was not one to let such insults slide.
He rose from his throne, a predatory glint in his eyes, and spoke in a velvety, dangerous tone that echoed through the hall. "Alistair, my friend, it seems you have forgotten your manners. Let me remind you that Y/n is my wife, and I assure you, our nights together are nothing short of passionate and unforgettable."
The courtiers whispered among themselves, the tension in the air thickening as Cardan's words hung in the room. Y/n felt her cheeks flush and her heart quicken at Cardan's bold proclamation. She shot him a glance filled with equal parts surprise and desire, momentarily forgetting the presence of the court.
A mischievous smile danced on Cardan's lips as he continued, his voice a low murmur that carried only to Y/n's ears. "Darling, do you remember the way your body trembled beneath me, your gasps of pleasure and cries of ecstasy echoing through our chambers? How you squirmed beneath my touch, unable to resist the pleasure I bestowed upon you?"
Y/n's breath hitched, her eyes widening at Cardan's audacious words. She fought to maintain her composure, feeling the heat of embarrassment rise in her cheeks. She stole a glance at the court, noticing their shocked expressions and scandalized whispers.
Clearing her throat, Y/n composed herself, her voice laced with a touch of sarcasm. "Oh, how could I forget such passionate nights, my love? I'm sure our guests find our tales of intimacy utterly fascinating."
Cardan chuckled, the sound sending shivers down Y/n's spine. "Indeed, darling. They should count themselves fortunate to witness a glimpse of our unbridled passion."
The courtiers shifted uncomfortably, some casting disapproving glances, while others couldn't help but be intrigued by the intensity of Cardan and Y/n's connection. The scene had taken an unexpected turn, their courtly decorum shattered by the unabashed display of their love.
Amid the murmurs and whispers, Cardan extended his arm to Y/n, a playful gleam in his eyes. "Come, my love. Let us leave this tedious court gathering and retire to our chambers, where we can explore new heights of pleasure, far away from prying eyes."
Y/n smirked, her eyes glinting with a mixture of challenge and desire. She placed her hand in Cardan's, allowing him to lead her away from the court, their exit accompanied by a mixture of gasps, hushed whispers, and stolen glances.
As they disappeared from the grand court hall, the echoes of their passionate night lingered in the air, a reminder that love, desire, and defiance had found a home within the heart of the High King of Elfhame and his human queen.

HERO REBORN
Prologue - The Tale of Hyrule
Tumblr media
The Tale of Hyrule
In the centuries long gone, the Kingdom of Hyrule was founded around the light of the mystical Triforce.
Although why it came to the people has been forgotten, its three pieces have been the guides of the land.
The Triforce of Wisdom brought order and law, carried by royalty.
The Triforce of Power gifted them with unfathomable strength.
The Triforce of Courage, although hidden away, provided an era of life and peace.
With Hyrule's leaders possessing the pieces of Wisdom and Power, as well as knowledge of the third's hiding place, they were seen as a beacon among the kingdoms of the earth. It was often that they were turned to in times of dire need.
Unbeknownst to them all, however, a wicked creature lurked in envy– meticulously staging its own calamity.
One fearful night, the moon went awash with blood and the earth trembled.
From the quaking stone, darkness spiraled free. It formed into a horrible beast of Hylian legend… The Demon King, Ganon.
With an army of monsters at his tail, Ganon devastated all in his path. He rampaged to Hyrule Castle, stealing the Triforce of Power from the king and vanquishing him with its uncontrollable might.
With this, Hyrule was plunged into an era of decline.
…But the Triforce of Wisdom was missing.
Although the King did not heed her warning of the events to come, the young Princess of Hyrule stole the Triforce of Wisdom from its chamber in preparation for Ganon's arrival.
By the time the monster had reached her, he could only witness as she shattered the piece into fragments– sending them out into the horizon.
A torturous fate awaited the child, but she did not cave. She knew she had already set an unforeseen destiny into motion.
As she had hoped, a servant had escaped the castle and located a child with boundless courage. Despite his age, the boy braved the monster-ridden regions and slayed whatever creature came in his way. He restored the Triforce of Wisdom and used his built strength to destroy Ganon once and for all.
The young Princess deemed the boy a hero, but knew what Ganon had caused could not be undone. She was forced to take the throne of her late father. Even so, her hero stayed by her side.
When the two grew up, they went on to rebuild the Kingdom of Hyrule and return prosperity to all.
To this day, their legend lives on.
To this day, Hyrule heals.
Update:
Hi! I did not forget this amongst my other projects! However, since the comic is taking some time, I decided to put the story in novelized form as well like I did over on my Untold Myths blog.
Chapter 1 - The Boy's Left Hand
About:
Hero Reborn is a fan reimagining of The Adventure of Link. If you are interested in reading more, the pinned post of this blog has further information.
(#loz hero reborn)
Obligatory Disclaimers:
I, quite obviously, don't own LoZ II: The Adventure of Link. This is simply a fancomic that serves as a loose narrative adaptation of the game, which has little storyline beyond the backstory given by the manual. It is meant to function similarly to the LoZ mangas (which you should read at the next opportunity) and doesn't entirely operate within canon. I wanted to tell a story from one of my favorite games in light of newer installments. You will find a lot of differences between the story and the game itself, but also similarities for obvious reasons. For instance, this Link is a reincarnation of the Hero of Hyrule, rather than the same boy. But this is all just for fun and isn't meant to be taken too seriously. I highly recommend you play the original game, too! It was my first LoZ game and holds a special place in my obsessions. :)

Lara Croft: The Adventurer's Essence by Jade Gretz
Deep within the heart of Eastern Europe, nestled in the rugged terrain that time had almost forgotten, lay the Castle of Seraphim. Its towering spires pierced the sky, a solemn silhouette against the backdrop of a silver moon that cast an otherworldly glow over the desolate landscape. This was a place long shrouded in mystery, forgotten by the pages of history, where echoes of a tragic tale lingered like ghosts in the corridors of time.
Lara Croft, the intrepid archaeologist, arrived at the castle driven by rumors of untold riches and a fabled artifact rumored to hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of life and death. As her boots crunched on the gravel of the castle courtyard, the air grew heavy with an unspoken sorrow, as if the very stones held the secrets of a tragedy that had unfolded centuries ago.
The castle's entrance beckoned, a grand portal with ornate carvings that hinted at a time when the structure stood proud and magnificent. However, as Lara stepped inside, she was greeted by an oppressive atmosphere. Dust motes danced in the air, catching the pale moonlight that filtered through shattered stained glass windows depicting scenes of a bygone era.
The main hall unfolded like a grand tapestry, adorned with the remnants of opulence that had long since decayed. Once vibrant frescoes lined the walls, telling a story of love, betrayal, and a curse that had sealed the fate of those who dwelled within. The tale whispered in the cold drafts that swept through the desolate corridors.
As Lara delved deeper into the castle's heart, she stumbled upon a forgotten chamber, hidden behind a tapestry that depicted a triumphant king holding a scepter aloft. The chamber revealed a tragic scene frozen in time: a banquet hall where the air was heavy with the aroma of decayed feasts, and ghostly apparitions of revelers caught in eternal celebration.
In the center of the hall, a spectral figure materialized – the ghostly remnant of a once-proud lord who ruled over this desolate domain. His eyes bore the weight of centuries, and his voice echoed through the hollow halls, recounting the tale that had dam …(see the rest of the story at deviantart.com/jadegretzAI). Fic Author Self-Rec Chain
Got tagged by @hotsuqueen to self-rec my top 5 favorite fics I've written. Let's see...
This one and the next one have got to be tied for my absolute favorites. Yes I reread my own fics and 90% of the time its one of these two. The Frog Prince is my only "long" fic, and it's a P5 shukita retelling of my favorite fairy tale: The Frog Princess. No, not the Disney one, the Russian folk one with Vasilisa the Wise/Beautiful. I poured every bit of my love of the characters, the folk tale, and the arts depicted into it, and I think it shows.
My other favorite, To Paint a Dream, is just as full of emotion to me, but much much darker. D.N. Angel and (presumably) one-sided satodai, it's focused on Satoshi's emotional fallout after a job goes horribly wrong. Pay attention to the tags on this one, please! Spoiler: he does not deal well, and that's the point of the fic. It does have a happy-ish ending though! And is the only fic of mine that I regularly debate commissioning art for (if anyone wants to illustrate the paintings at the end hmu 👀👀👀💰💰💰).
Breaking Locks and Stealing Hearts I think is still somehow one of my favorites, despite it being the very first fic I wrote and imo obvious for it. I'm just so fond of it for breaking the ice for the next 50+ fics! P5 shuake clinic shenanigans that plays with the idea of what if Akechi was closer to shattering and just needed a good spicy push to do so.
Baby Shark Rescue is the newest on the list, and I don't think I was more delighted to be writing a fic ever than I was this one. Every single word is just gleeful sandboxing with some of @hotsuqueen's AUs and bullying my favorite characters. P5/Devil Survivor 2 smashup, set more in P5 than DeSu2, where Yamato's family are yakuza to rule all yakuza, Iwai is a distant cousin, and there are some familial differences in thought about how children should be taught and treated. Featuring child Yamato being a brat! And beloved anyway. The only fanfic of mine I've made art for!
The Devil Within was also delightfully fun to write, inspired by this post by @ belfire. Devil Survivor kazunao in which Naoya might have forgotten to mention Kazuya would need to consume magnetite after becoming King of Bel, and then he helps Kazuya make up the difference. It was very much fun leaning into the base and messy as they went for it, as well as patching up game lore to make it work.
So that's my five! I'm supposed to tag 5 people now, but I hate putting people on the spot for things like this... So, please consider yourself tagged if you wish to be! If you send me a message, I'll even put you in here To Be Official.

“ How do you chose? “ There’s a moment of silence, they’d betrayed Sylvie the way she had done them. Sending her to Bronxton. They hope it’s the right choice. Now it was only Him and the God in the Citadel. Loki’s eyes desperate and burdened with the weight of the knowledge of what’s to come. They’d accept, they had to. To protect the very fabric of reality.
“ How do you chose, “ The God of Stories repeats, though they don’t know that is what they are. Not yet. In due time, they will. And they had plenty of it. “ Who lives and who dies? “
It was a near imperceptible change, between They Who Were and They Who Are, all the more difficult to perceive amidst the conflict that had unfolded in front of him. Gods of a pair, shattered reflections of one another, fighting for the very soul of the timeline. Order, or Chaos. Singularity, or Multiplicity.
Him-- Alive, or dead.
His head cants at the sudden inquiry, chin resting atop intertwined fingers, eyes, oh so very young yet oh so very old, staring them down intently. Ah, there it was, then, the fruit of his labors, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow road.
"Loki." A small nod, an almost awe-struck smile dancing upon his lips as he acknowledges the Once Trickster God, who now stood at the precipice of becoming something More.
He lurches over, a long exhale leaving him as he practically slides off his chair, immediately turning around to watch the branching, cracking, flowering timelines. " You don't. Time chooses."
There was a word he had come across once, during the fires of his youth, when The Conqueror went from one planet to the next. A code of conduct, almost, a belief that shaped the inhabitants of the world that was no longer remembered.
Aiat; that which is said, must be so.
Tumblr media
Behold, the aging God-King in his Citadel at the End of it all, witnessing the death of All Time, and the birth of Always. " And yet-- here, We are Time. And so we must make the hard choice." Hands come together in prayer, an echo, a half-forgotten muscle memory, " Does the writer command the pen, or is the pen beyond their control?" He turns, hands sliding against each other to rest in a grasping pose.
Witness, all, the death of the King, and re-birth of the God. Citadel, to be renewed once more; the Throne, to its rightful owner.
To Loki, the Weaver of Tales, the Lord of Lies! For what was the greatest lie, but a story told?
Aiat.
"Which one are you, God of Stories? Which one will you become?"

sakuatsu | Prince Kiyoomi, stable boy Atsumu
part 1
Prince Kiyoomi, heir to the throne, is sent away to one of the royal family's countryside palaces as punishment for disobeying orders of shaking hands with esteemed guests and refusing to dance with the ladies during a ball.
There he meets stable bot Miya Atsumu and his cook of a twin, Osamu. The twins have been serving the royal family since they were young. Their mother had worked as a caretaker of the castle before she had passed away.
The royal family rarely visits this particular castle which the Miya twins have taken residence in.
So it was a surprise when the news of Prince Kiyoomi arriving rang among the helpers. Everyone was ecstatic, especially the twins, to finally meet a royal in the flesh. And the Crown Prince no less.
Atsumu had thought he'd be cool and charming just like every prince in fairy tale books is depicted to be.
And then he meets prickly Prince Kiyoomi and all of Atsumu's hopes and dreams shatters.
Everyone at the palace has been warm and welcoming to the young prince so he doesn't get the hostile treatment.
The prince has also been locking himself away in his room instead of exploring the great outdoors, the fresh air. He only goes out of his room to eat but then immediately stalks back up to his room as soon as he's finished.
Kiyoomi is quite miserable. He's still sulking from his so-called temporary banishment from the main palace. He's never been the outdoors type. He's always preferred the city proper where he can regularly meet up with his cousin Komori and very close friend Ushijima.
His family had never understood his aversion to touch.
Most days it was fine. So long as he got his gloves on his hands. But that day he had forgotten it in his chambers. He had explained several times that he just wanted to do a quick run back to his room to get the gloves but his parents insisted he stay to entertain the guests.
He couldn't even ask the maids or his personal secretary to fetch it for him as he was pulled from one conversation to the next. Hands left and right were offered for him to shake to which he all refused as politely as he could.
But when the King and Queen heard of it, he had gotten a strict scolding about duty and responsibility (one he's heard millions of times in his life) and then sent him off to the countryside.
All because of some missing gloves.
Kiyoomi makes the mistake of refusing to eat the onigiri served to him one day in fear of the cleanliness of the hands that had touched his food.
He asks his staff to make him some curry instead and bring it up to his room.
An hour or so later, a knock comes to Kiyoomi's room.
He opens it to see a blonde man in dirty outside clothes rather than his usual female maids bringing him a tray of curry and rice.
But before he can ask who the man was, his face is suddenly caked in curry soup. He hears the sound of a plate cluttering to the ground.
"That oughta teach ya a lesson about insulting my brother's cooking," he hears the man in front of him say.
Kiyoomi wipes the food off his face but all he sees is the blonde man walking away from him along with the tray. Kiyoomi stares after him, shocked and intrigued.
part 2
After much asking around from palace staff, Kiyoomi learns the name of the pretty blonde boy who dumped curry all over his head. Miya Atsumu, serving as astable boy from as young as he was eleven. He has a twin brother called Osamu who works in the kitchen.
To say Kiyoomi was intrigued is an understatement. He can't exactly describe it. The feeling in his chest every time he thinks of this blonde stable boy. He should be furious. Dumping curry on a crown prince as particular as Kiyoomi? Unexcusable. Punishable even. But Kiyoomi wants nothing of the sort.
He wants to speak with the stable boy but he's also hesitant for some reason. Is he scared? But that's ridiculous. He's a freaking prince! The heir to the throne. There's no reason for him to fear a mere stable boy.
Maybe it's just he doesn't know what to say.
Kiyoomi watches from the palace windows that overlook the stables as Atsumu works, carrying hay, cleaning horses, and riding them occasionally. Kiyoomi particularly likes to watch Atsumu take his afternoon nap under an apple tree.
It's a little creepy but he can't help it. Atsumu was an exquisite sight. One whom is hard to take his eyes off.
After a week of pathetic pining, Kiyoomi finally gathers enough courage to talk to... his brother.
Kiyoomi visits the palace kitchen that day to meet the infamous twin for whom Atsumu had gone feral.
He meets Miya Osamu and Kiyoomi is shocked by how similar and different he looks from his blonde counterpart. He had known they were twins prior to this meeting but knowing and seeing are two entirely different things. Kiyoomi sees Atsumu's face worn with a totally different expression — something more subdued— and rather than blonde, Osamu sports a more natural looking brown.
Osamu, among the other staff in the kitchen, is surprised to see him.
"Yer royal highness." Osamu bows. "What are ya doing here? Are ya hungry already? We were just about to start on lunch." He signals to the other people and they immediately get to work cutting ingredients on chopping boards.
"I'm sorry to interrupt your work,"Kiyoomi says.
"I just wanted to speak with you. About... your brother."
Osamu's eyes widen in slight alarm then he lowers his head, bows so low he's almost kissing the floor. "I apologize for my stupid brother, sir. Please. He always acts first before he thinks. If yer gonna punish him at least don't have him killed. Or fired. Or—"
Before Osamu can ramble any further, Kiyoomi interrupts. "I'm actually here to apologize. To you. For the onigiri."
Osamu rises his head slowly, one eyebrow raised. "Ya are?"
Kiyoomi nods. "I—uh." He swallows nervously. "I have a certain apprehension of germs and bacteria and such. I am extra vigilant about food, especially ones that are made with direct contact to hands. So that's why I refused the onigiri. I'm terribly sorry."
Osamu blinks at him a few times as he processes everything the prince had said. "Okay... So all we gotta do is not touch it directly with our hands, right?"
"Ideally, yes." Kiyoomi nods.
"Will wearing plastic gloves help?" Osamu asks.
Kiyoomi is surprised. He didn't think this conversation would go the direction it did. "Uh, I think so?"
Osamu nods. "Got it." He turns to the kitchen drawers and pulls out a pair of plastic gloves. "Ya know, yer highness, I pride myself as having the best onigiri in this small humble countryside. So I was really upset when I heard ya rejected my onigiri even without tasting them."
"Is that why—?"
"Tsumu went all feral and dumped a curry all over ya?" Osamu nods. "I told him it was fine but he said he didn't care if ya were a prince in line to throne. If ya were gonna rule the kingdom one day, ya better start learnin' some manners."
"He said that?"
"Yep," Osamu confirms.
The two of them talk as Osamu works on a new batch of onigiri. He asked what Kiyoomi's favorite filling was and he had answered "Umeboshi." Kiyoomi learns an awful lot about Atsumu while talking to his twin. How stubborn and hotheaded he is but also how incredibly kind and selfless he can be to the people he loves most.
"He probably didn't care about getting fired or getting his head chopped off when he marched to yer room," Osamu continues. "He was just really really mad and it just so happens ya were the source of it all"
That afternoon after lunch, Kiyoomi goes to the stable to visit a certain blonde. He sees Atsumu washing a black horse who sees Kiyoomi and immediately alarms his caretaker with a flick of a tail.
As soon as Atsumu's eyes land on him, he frowns and his facial expression hardens.
"If yer royal highness is here expecting to hear an apology, then he would be very disappointed," Atsumu says, voice cold and sharp.
Then he turns back to brushing the horse with the obvious intent of ignoring Kiyoomi.
"I spoke with your brother," Kiyoomi says, which effectively catches Atsumu's attention.
"Don't tell me he already apologized on my behalf."
"He did."
"He doesn't speak for me. I'm not sorry for what I did."
"I can see that."
"Good."
For a minute or so, silence falls between them. Atsumu continues to work and Kiyoomi continues to watch him.
"Anythin' else I can do fer ya?" Atsumu asks, annoyed.
"Can you teach me to ride a horse?" Kiyoomi asks.
This finally makes Atsumu's head turn to look at him. His expression a mixture of confusion and anger. "What?"
"You heard me."
Atsumu scrunches his nose in disgust. "And why would I teach ya? Just because yer the crown prince and I, yer supposedly obedient servant?"
"No," Kiyoomi says. "I just—"
Atsumu puts a hand to his hip as he stares Kiyoomi down with those piercing hazel eyes. They're more warmer than Osamu's, and more fiercer. As if there are flames dancing behind them. "Just what?" he snaps.
"I see you from my window when you ride the fields. And the look on your face— the way your eyes light up as you ride the wind. I want to experience that." Atsumu studies him with scrutinizing eyes. "Please," Kiyoomi adds. "I know we've gotten off the wrong foot. But I would really like to learn. It's been incredibly boring staying locked up inside."
Atsumu huffs but his lips are slightly pulling up to the side. "Who knew the crown prince knew how to say please?" He crosses his arms across his chest. "Alright. I'll teach ya. But don't expect the same level of baby-ing ya probably get from everybody else. I say what I want. And I say how it really is. If ya get yer lil pride hurt because I'm just telling the truth then it's not my fault, ya hear?"
Kiyoomi nods. "I expect nothing less."
"Good. We start tomorrow morning after breakfast." And with that Atsumu turns to tend back to the horse.
As Kiyoomi feels the conversation end, he turns to leave the stables then he pauses to add, "By the way, your brother's onigiri was delicious."
He doesn't turn around to see Atsumu's expression but he can feel his eyes on him as he continues to walk away, a small smirk playing on his face.

The Dead, the Traitor, and the Lost
The Dead, the Traitor, and the Lost
The party stands United Against the final foe Of future lived alone The king and queen are crowned Knights face in passion’s duel The maidens share their soulful stare Lovers all around
One left behind in frozen ground Lies underneath their love Mourned and not forgotten The sacrifice is e’er unwed The grave is cold and lonely No hero’s soul remains alone The loverless is dead
One made a mockery of destiny And left the rightful path Sowed violent affliction vast In hearts deserted left a crater Where evil reigns supreme Love will never prosper fair The loverless turned traitor
One wandered off into the dawn Alone one fateful morning Shattered pain and pieces fly Bereaved behind all mourn the cost That victory has left them The broken stand forewarning them The loverless is lost
Beyond the curtain here and there Remain the unimportant Faceless voiceless loveless shapes All filled with love for those adored They stand aside in darkness Unseen unheard bemourned beloathed The loverless ignored
And so we wait for future’s time When curtain’s lift all over And stories tell our tales The way consists of bridges crossed And many more before us Until then we remain as them The Dead, the Traitor, and the Lost

Srawaiq's Apples
Tumblr media
A/N:
I didn't bother making a WIP intro for this cuz I have like three stories in this WIP. Two of them are like legends and stories from that magical world and the other one is the first chapter of a dead story. This is one of the legends from that world.
______________________________________________________________
The memories of the greatest belonged to Srawaiq, the goddess of the mind. She held memories, she could shatter them or stitch them back together. Long before we walked on the soil, Srawaiq had asked the other gods if she could have the memories of the ones who had changed the world. The god’s had agreed. Once the mortal died the memory would be hers.
Srawaiq had then planted an apple seed. It was quite a normal thing but she watered it with the silvery memories she had attained. The tree, unlike the seed it was born from, was not ordinary. The boughs were stronger than iron. The leaves were much longer than that of a normal one, they wrapped around the apples in spirals like a protective sheath. You would have to part the leaves open to get the apple inside. The apples themselves were a unique colour. A little bit of purple, but if you looked at it from the top you could see pink and red. If you looked at it from the side you would see the ocean blue hue.
These apples contained memories. It was said if someone were ever to have a bite they would be given a gift. Although the gift would not be of their choosing, they could not refuse.
How do we find the apples?
It was said that in a town long forgotten, a river passed through which is now believed to be dry. The river flowed through kingdoms and forests, it had seen the rise of kings and the corpses of war. But even with those memories, it flowed pure and clean never to be tainted. Some travellers were lucky to find it and the tales say they followed it through the valley of Meiyun, where the mountains seemed to rise till heaven. Then they followed it to a lake where the river emptied.
The water of the lake was said to be clearer than diamonds but for some reason, the travellers say they could not see the bottom, perhaps it was endless. Instead, you would see your reflection staring back at you, a perfect image. At the centre of the lake is a garden grown by the gods of the earth. Spirits of plants, soil and water tended to it.
If you wished to see the garden, you would have to travel over the lake and not taint the water by your mortal touch. You were to speak in whispers only to not wake the sleeping spirits. Not a single dark desire nor action was to be seen or heard, for the wildlife would not appreciate that.
When you reached the island, you would see a rock and on it carved the words:
"Memories over mind"
At the centre of the garden, the tree stands, the apples just within your reach.
But remember the apples contain memories of the ones who changed the world. Servants of both chaos and order could do that.
*****
Srawaiq's Apples a children's story from the collection Kravaien Tales by Evnor Breims of the Bone mountains.

First Line Meme
Haven’t seen this one around for a while, so here’s how it goes:
List the first lines of your last 20 stories. See if there are any patterns and choose your favorite opening line!
So! I did this last year, but things have changed and I didn’t really count in the Forgotten Tales, so let’s do it again. Also I’d like to tag people for it if they’re up for it: @writerman, @zzzett, @jawanaka, @theowlseye, @joker1315, @wonderwhump, @whimsicalmeerkat, @straysinfiltrator, @humbae, @emys-123 and anybody I forgot and whoever wants to jump in! Here I go, first lines of the last 20 stories in (mostly accurate) chronological order, without the smut fics I did with a pseud, without the Tumblr fics and also without the last collaboration fic I did with Humbae because the first line isn’t mine.
1) Regis, I don't know if I'll ever send this letter. (Letters to Regis, Geralt/Regis)
2) Sometimes memories and dreams were hard to tell apart. (A Dream, The Book of Boba Fett, Gen Fic) 3) Bang! With a clamor, a clay mug crashed against the stone wall of the main hall, bounced off an ambitious painting ("Night across the Pontar," some hideous scrap), and shattered into five large pieces. (The Dark of You, Emhyr/Geralt)
4) When he first heard of the festival – months before the actual event – Geralt sighed into the crook of Emhyr's neck, "Another ball, really?" (Is it love that glows in fiery alignment?, The Forgotten Tales 19, Emhyr/Geralt)
5) "I brought you something," Geralt said when they were finally back in their chambers, in the seclusion and intimacy of a privacy that rarely existed in the palace. (Have a little bit of trust in the way you feel, and see your heart melt, The Forgotten Tales 18, Emhyr/Geralt)
6)  There was blood; he could feel it.  (I was dying but for you it was just another night, Modern AU, The Forgotten Tales 17, Emhyr/Geralt)
7) It was peculiar, but Geralt couldn't have explained how it had started.  (You’re the misfit, I’m the sinner, The Forgotten Tales 16, Emhyr/Geralt)
8) The house was not quite what Geralt had expected.  (All the King’s Horses, Modern AU, Emhyr/Geralt)
9) This late in the year, the autumn sun did not manage to prevail against the gloomy clouds. (Come be our beacon shining bright, The Forgotten Tales 15, Emhyr/Geralt)
10) Rays of early morning light shone through windows whose curtains had been forgotten to be drawn.  (Emhyr, Confessions To Make Chapter 6, Emhyr/Geralt)
11) There was hell to pay at the "Four Winds." (Die, die, my darling, The Forgotten Tales 14, Emhyr/Geralt)
12) The throne room was bustling with people. (I’ve been wounded, I’ve been healed, Emhyr/Geralt) 13) "There he stands, the famous monster slayer, nervous as any virgin at their first time." (Oh, did I say that I want you?, The Forgotten Tales 13, Emhyr/Geralt) 14) "Your hair is too long. As for the beard... if you don't want to be shaved by the servants or by me, please finally do it yourself. And what are you wearing?" (Lightning Strikes Twice, Emhyr/Geralt)
15) "Now, that's what I call a surprise," Geralt claimed with delight as he sweepingly opened the door. (I feed the wolf inside my skin, The Forgotten Tales 12, Gen Fic but relates to Emhyr/Geralt)
16) The car's electronics fail in the middle of nowhere, and Emhyr lets out a curse that echoes unheard between the leather seats. (But the shimmer in your eyes, Modern AU, The Forgotten Tales 11, Emhyr/Geralt)
17) "Oh. Oh! Yeah, right there. Go ahead, uh... don't stop... a little harder..." ('Cos you know that we've got the power of healin' love, The Forgotten Tales 10, Emhyr/Geralt)
18) "All rise." (Somewhere Far Beyond, Emhyr/Geralt)
19) The door opened all but without a sound, but Emhyr startled, as if he had been deeply engrossed in the papers on his desk – in truth, he had been staring into emptiness, unable to concentrate on any thought. (Dreams of war, dreams of liars, dreams of dragons fire, The Forgotten Tales 9, Emhyr/Geralt)
20) Geralt of Rivia did not believe in coincidence, nor in the Duchess having developed a sudden sense of grace. (Can I Play With Madness, Geralt/Damien de la Tour)
So! Patterns? I know I like to begin with dialogue. Or long sentences, as it seems... None of those I’d call my favorite, but well. I think that changes all the time :)
