Young & Beautiful
Pairing: Donna Beneviento x reader
Summary: Donna reveals herself to you.
Warning: Anxiety, insecurities, hurt/comfort
Tumblr media Tumblr media
—✦—
When donna was younger she always thought she was pretty.
That was, until she got her scar. She was hideous. That’s what everyone else said, she was what they gossiped about. She was used to it now and again. She barely went out to the village, unless visiting one of the lords.
She’s never felt beautiful, especially when she met you. Not that you were mean to her, you’d never do that.
But it was just that you were our of her league. How could you, a person with such kindness and beauty. Possibly want anything to do with a freak like her.
She always wondered if you did it out of pity. Just maybe, you had a secret hatred for her. Just maybe, you wanted to kill her to satisfy the village. Only getting close to her just to stab her in the eye. Getting rid of her disgusting flaw.
Donna always hated herself. Not only because of her looks, but her thoughts. Her anxiety always found a way to creep up on her. Striking in suck a poisonous way that Angie would check on her.
—✦—
Donna didn’t ever plan to remove her veil around you. Around anyone really, she feared that you’d run away. It’s not that she didn’t trust you, it was just her.
“Donna I’m home!” you exclaimed as you entered the house. She mentally panicked, this was a horrid situation. She somehow lost her veil, she didn’t have anything else to cover her face with.
She planned on just staying in her room, but you would come knocking. She was so occupied with her thoughts, she almost didn’t hear your voice calling her.
“Donna?” you called out, you were concerned per say. Donna wouldn’t exactly vocalize where she was. She’d either come out or Angie would welcome you. You were growing concerned when you didn’t see either of them.
Maybe she’s resting? you thought to yourself. The first place you went to check was her bedroom. Walking through the hallways, turning corners. You opened the door and scurried down the stairs.
You passed through the kitchen area, pots and pans hanging from the ceiling. Then walking through the short hallway, where her bedroom door was creaked open. Before you could take another step, it slammed shut.
You wondered if it was one of Angie’s games. But you didn’t hear her mischievous giggles. “Donna, my love?” you said outside the door. You could her labored breathing and small wheezes.
You jiggled the door knob, but it was unfortunately locked. You were really concerned now, you were aware of Donna’s anxiety. You’ve encountered her in situations that could lead to a panic attack, but you were always there to calm her down.
But you haven’t been with her while she was experiencing one. “Darling, please unlock the door.” you begged in a soft tone.
Donna didn’t want to open the door, she couldn’t. She couldn’t bare to see your reaction if you saw her. She was nothing like the painting on the wall.
She’s been romantically close with someone, only one.
They betrayed her, left as if she was nothing to them. She trusted them enough to see her without the veil, but they were revolted by her. She truly thought they’d love her, how foolish.
You have to try
That one thought tried to encourage her. It wasn’t going to work out. You’d see her like everyone else saw her, a freak. She didn’t want to risk it but she did at the same time.
You couldn’t go the rest of your time without seeing her. How could you love someone without seeing them? She was practically invisible to everyone’s eye.
Will you still love her? Even if she’s not young and beautiful.
Dear Mother Miranda, she was really going to do this. Speaking of Mother Miranda, she’d probably be disappointed in her daughter. Now so pathetic and vulnerable, like a child.
It was until she heard the hings of the door break off, she became aware of you again. She quickly covered her face with her hands. Not wanting an inch of her face seen.
You saw her, slightly shocked that her veil wasn’t on. Although you saw that she didn’t like that at all. Seeing her cover her face made your heart break piece by piece.
You’ve always heard the rumors and gossip in the village. About how Donna was hideous and a disgrace. You never listened to them, they were just miserable folk who had nothing to do with their life. Even if you’ve never seen Donna’s actual face, you knew she was beautiful.
You didn’t care for the scar on her face. Everyone was different, it shouldn’t be something to be afraid of. It’s something you acknowledge with care and kindness.
“Donna my sweet, please move your hands” you pleaded. You didn’t want to force her to, but persuade her. She was severely hesitant, her fingers twitching.
They moved slowly, one uncovering the right side of her face. Showing one of her pitch black eyes, which was filled with tears. You were inches away from her, but not too close. You didn’t want to overwhelm her.
It took a while for her to remove her other hand, but she did. Revealing her other side, that was almost consumed by her scar.
You didn’t gasp in shock or look at her in disgust. You still looked at her with love and kindness. Donna wanted to cry, and she did. Tears flowed rapidly down her cheeks, she choked on her sobs.
You slowly walked to her, wrapping her in a hug. She pushed her head onto your shoulder. “You’re beautiful Donna, you may not think so but you are to me.”
Those words alone made her sob harder. After all these years, she finally found someone that actually loved her. You didn’t fake it, you were was genuine.
She felt beautiful
