Awful Characters Round 2 Part 1 (2/8)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda under the cut!
IANTHE TRIDENTARIUS
Her number one hobby is ruining every person's that she knows life. Her second hobby is being soooo slutty about it despite looking like a literal wet rat. Her third hobby is having an extremely unhealthy relationship with her twin. Her other hobbies include cannibalism, wearing a maid outfit, being extremely convinced she is the main character, the badboy sexy love interest and the villain. 'Why', you may ask. Well, the answer is, for shits and giggles #justgirlythings i, aswell as literally everybody else in the fandom have gone through the pipeline from hating her to desperately wanting to fuck her. expect for i still fucking hope she dies and doesn't come back for good. (that would literally solve all of everybody's problems) as god intended (EXPECT FOR. one of her hobbies literally is gaslighting god) She is fucking horrible i will love her until i die and even after that
parks and recs jean ralphio voice she's the woooorst!! The moment she learns she has to kill someone to become a Lyctor (aka a more special necromancer), she doesn't hesitate to kill and cannibalize the guy who has been her cavalier since childhood… cavalier who she also totally bullied as kids, she was allowed to choose one guest for her and her twin sister's birthday party each year, and she would always pick whoever she thought her cavalier didn't want to see there! While other characters are shown to regret the process of becoming a Lyctor (which involves someone close to them dying)/were forced into it because of circumstances, Ianthe has absolutely no regrets, she believes she did what she had to do
The author once said of Ianthe: "I don't think she's been nice to anyone, if she has I'll go back and change it." She killed and ate the soul of someone she has known all her life so that she could become a necromantic saint and tormented him plenty before that. General negging, ganging up against him, always inviting people he didn't like to their birthday parties. She doesn't regret killing him. I think she is repulsed by the idea that his digested soul is affecting hers. She helped her crush lobotomise herself so she would be in Ianthe's debt, and later lied and said she didn't see the corpse of a woman her crush killed under her bed (why did she do that? I do not know). She has a bone arm because her original arm was cut off, she hated the replacement so her crush cut THAT off and grew her a new one out of just bones. She had it gilded and only after that did she decide to help her crush deal with the person who had been repeatedly trying to kill her. She wants so badly to be the main character but people keep interrupting her villain monologues.
she has her own content warning tag
She's such a bitch to everyone all the time, she causes nothing but problems, she tries to do a villain speech but fumbles it because her tummy hurt, she is the awfulgirl of all time
THE SKULL
he is an evil ghost who used to be an assistant to a mad scientist gravedigger. accomplice to murder and torture and general evil scheming. now he lives in a jar and is besties with a teenage girl. and by besties i mean he encourages her to kill people and constantly cheers when her friends almost die. overall a silly little decapitated head <3
It is literally a skull in a jar. (More context if you don’t know the books/show: it’s a ghost source that’s been trapped in a silver container so it can’t escape. And it’s exceptionally powerful which means it can actually communicate with mc.) It frequently encourages the mc to commit various morally reprehensible acts such as homicide (she never does). When it was alive, it was a teenage boy who was apprenticed to an evil scientist.

Ever wonder how much the Prequels aligned with the original backstory George Lucas thought up in the 70s? Let's take a look!
Tumblr media
"Once, under the wise rule of the Senate and the protection of the Jedi Knights, the Republic throve and grew."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"But as often happens when wealth and power pass beyond the admirable and attain the awesome, then appear those evil ones who have greed to match."
Tumblr media
"So it was with the Republic at its height. Like the greatest of trees, able to withstand any external attack, the Republic was rotted from within though the danger was not visible from outside. Aided and abetted by restless, power-hungry individuals within the government, and the massive organs of commerce, the ambitious Senator Palpatine caused himself to be elected President of the Republic..."
Tumblr media
"He had slowly manipulated things; in fact, it was he who let the bureaucracy run amok and therefore had blackmailed the Senate into doing things because he was the only one who really had any power over the bureaucracy."
Tumblr media
"It was so large there was no way to get things done, but he knew the right people; the key people in the bureaucracy were working for him and were paid by the companies."
Tumblr media
"He promised to unite the disaffected among the people and to restore the remembered glory of the Republic."
Tumblr media
"Anakin Skywalker starting hanging out with the Emperor, who at this point nobody knew was that bad, because he was an elected official."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Luke’s father gets subverted by the Emperor. He gets a little weird at home, and his wife begins to figure out that things are going wrong...
Tumblr media
... and she confides in Ben, who is his mentor."
Tumblr media
"The president is turning into an Emperor and Luke’s mother suspects that something has happened to her husband."
Tumblr media
"There was a rebellion in terms of the Senate against the Emperor...
Tumblr media
... they tried to oust him legally and have him impeached."
Tumblr media
"The Jedi Knights were alerted immediately and they rallied to the Senate’s side."
Tumblr media
"But there was a plot afoot and when the Jedi finally rallied and tried to restore order, they were betrayed and eventually killed by Darth Vader."
Tumblr media
"They trusted him and they didn't realize he was the murderer who was decimating their ranks."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"The Emperor had some strong forces rally behind him, as well, in terms of the army and the Imperial forces that he'd been building up secretly.
Tumblr media
"The Jedi were so outnumbered...
Tumblr media
...that they fled, and were tracked down."
Tumblr media
"Once secure in office he declared himself Emperor, shutting himself away from the populace."
Tumblr media
"[Ben] goes back to Vader’s wife and explains that Anakin is the bad guy, the one killing all the Jedi."
Tumblr media
"Anakin gets worse and worse, and finally Ben has to fight him."
Tumblr media
"Vader is all beat up [...] his other arm goes and his leg and there is hardly anything left of him by the time the Emperor’s troops fish him out."
Tumblr media
"Mrs. Skywalker has had the kids, the twins, so she has these two little babies who are six months old or so. So everybody has to go into hiding."
Tumblr media
"Ben says, 'I think we should protect the kids, because they may be able to help us right the wrong that your husband has created in the universe'."
Tumblr media
"And so Ben takes one and gives him to a couple out there on Tatooine and he gets his little hideout in the hills and he watches him grow."
Tumblr media
I changed the order of some of it and had to use some deleted scenes but, all in all, I'd say what we got was pretty similar to what was originally thought out.
Obviously, most of it is shown in Episode III.
And it tracks, seeing as at Celebration III, George detailed that:
only 20% of his 7-page backstory was used for TPM (to lay the political groundwork, show how Palpatine rose to power and establish how Anakin joined the Jedi),
then 20% for AOTC (to show how Palpatine became a glorified dictator and how Anakin lost his mother and married Padmé),
and the remaining 60% is what was shown in ROTS (showing how the Republic becomes the Empire, how Palpatine becomes the Emperor and how Anakin became Vader).
Also I will point out that the bulk of the backstory material we’ve been shown is mainly oriented towards the political intrigue... Anakin's subplot is a close second. The Jedi aren't mentioned THAT much beyond trying to save the Senate and getting wiped out.

Rayven's Revenge- Chapter 6
Summary: Rayven is the younger sister of Rhysand in the Night Court. She was banished 64 years ago for the murder of her sister. This is the story of Rayven earning her place in Prythian and finding out what it means to be family. We all know how her story ends...but how did she get there? I don't want to forget the demon princess with bat wings. Do you?
Word Count: 2k
Warnings: none-typical canon content
A/N: As promised. Six in one go. I'm sorry for a spam, but hopefully this forces me to post the rest. Lmk if I should stop while I'm ahead.
The Highlord and her mother were mated.
Mates.
What every fae craved and yearned for. The ultimate love match. Mated they may have been, but love was another question. The Highlord would boast stories of their great love. A great love indeed. So great her mother stayed up in the mountains most of the time barely attempting to play court with him.
Rayven couldn't blame her after what happened. Maybe they did love each other. Until Rava.
She was supposed to be Rayven’s twin.
Twins, Madja eagerly told their mother. Rhys remembered when she announced her pregnancy with them. Rava and Maevan were to be their names. Fae offspring were rare, Illyrian offspring even more, so twin Illyrians were unheard of. When they got the news, as Rhys explained, they couldn't have been happier. Their mother was ecstatic every visit with Madja for progress details until one appointment when she had lost the heartbeat of one of the babes. Rava had been absorbed by Rayven and her power. Her first and most egregious crime that cascaded through her entire life. She would never live down having killed her sister.
Madja said it happens sometimes. Her power grew, like Rhys’, inside their mother, but Rhys was alone in the womb, with no other fetus to compete with. As Rayven’s power swelled, Rava had not progressed at the same rate, so Madja said the stronger fetus absorbed the other. Only she was born, they didn't even have a corpse to bury. Rayven had taken that from them too.
She was given the name Rayven by her father upon birth to serve as a reminder of the life she took, and the shame she would always carry because of it. They didn't think her mother was going to be able to deliver her through her grief and when Rayven came out they say she didn't touch her for several days.
She couldn't blame her. Her body became a gravesite and it's Rayven’s fault. No one is more aware of the tragedy than her.
Soon after her birth a single shadow appeared. Madja had cursed and spit seeing her next to her in her crib. Madja didn't take a liking to the shadows.
Rahne was the first word she had said that Rayven could understand. Some speculated she was the soul of her dead sister, trapped by Rayven in silent servitude.
Rahne had never been silent a day in her little life. She never spoke in more than a few syllables, but she loved to parrot.
Rayven had put effort into separating Rahne from Rava, pleading her case that Rava had never appeared to her, but they were set on their truth. Rayven was the scary, violent Illyrian half-breed bitch so jealous of her sister she killed her in the veil before life.
So scary she became. Having a kill under her belt before her first breath. No Illyrian male could say the same.
Her parents had never been the same after that, Rhys told her. She blamed him, he blamed her, and Rayven blamed the cauldron. It was the real cruel one, giving and taking away a mother’s child.
The night they would’ve turned ten, they gathered at the House of Wind for Rava’s vigil. Not Rayven’s birthday. He never allowed a celebration for her birth on Rava’s commemoration, though Rhys had found ways to make it more than a day of grief after the Highlord took his leave for the night.
On that particular death day, he had been disturbed from first light. This anniversary was different to him, and bothered him more than she’d ever seen. He walked into the living room of the Town House, took one look at the modest decorations the boys had attempted, and snapped.
She wasn't Rava, and she wasn’t Maevan. He didn't make Rava’s death about her or even Rayven, it was about him, and the heirs he lost that day. He was not consoling to her mother who had lived it more than any of them. He took their effort as a serious offense to his ‘loss.’ It was never about Rava.
He pinned the boys in their place with his power. He wasn't daemati, or Illyrian, but he wasn't the Highlord for nothing. He was skilled in charms and spells. Incantations of another language they never learned. Rhys was powerful, more powerful than the Highlord, but he hadn't been as clever yet. The Highlord had binded the boys with his greeting when they entered the house. His twisted incantations kept them in place. They could only move upon being released by his word.
Her father yoked her up from the couch next to Rhys, frozen. Their mother’s tears streamed down her face, pleading with her mate to let her daughter stay. By the hair, he dragged her out of the house and tossed her down the steps to the icy stone.
“Go.”
“Dad, please,” she begged on her knees. “I don't-”
“You may seek out Lord Devlon of Windhaven.” The only hint he’d given her.
Windhaven. Leagues across the Night Court. A length the boys could traverse easily, but she could barely fly in the daylight and couldn't winnow yet. There was no way Rayven would’ve made it if Eris hadn't found her.
“Rhys!” She cried over and over. Even before she called for her mother, she knew Rhys wasn't going to be held for long. Once he and the bastards were free they would come after her.
“Silence.” His voice had that prenatural volume it took when he was speaking a spell.
“Daddy, please,” She barely choked out.
“You are no longer welcome in my court.”
 His word was law when he spoke like that.
It was the last time Rayven would ever be on her knees.
And the last time she would call him dad.
The Highlord ordered Cassian and Azriel to not go after her, or he’d take their wings.  Rhys had to be bound with some threat he never revealed.
It was the first time Rhys had manipulated the Highlord’s mind. Rhys wasn't as skilled at it as he is now. He couldn't rewrite everything without melting his brain, but he was slowly able to plant more and more ideas inside. After the first year of her banishment he had made progress. He was closer to convincing the Highlord he needed Rayven to keep up appearances in court. People would begin to question her sudden disappearance. He spun stories of her great power down the gossip of the court. She was away to train, he lied.
The Highlord had come up with the idea to allow her at big events and important court councils. She was never allowed to speak and only ever seen long enough to count her attendance. Then, she was to return to Illyria until he called upon her again.
Rhys had worked for over a year to get the Highlord to think it was his idea. It was what Rhys could manage to save her with his two brothers still trapped with the Highlord. He truly honed his daemati skills over that first year, gently persuading their father to lessen her banishment.
The Highlord told them if she could find her way to the Illyrian camps and earn rank among the males in the frigid mountains then he would consider her coming back officially. It had been over six decades and she never touched a ring in her time up there.
She rarely appreciated her cottage, but then she would remember where the boys were and wondered who really suffered that night. Her house wasn't enchanted with perfect temperature, or warded with magic locks, but it was entirely hers.
It was nothing more than four walls when she found it. Not even a complete roof remained.
Over the years, she had learned to make it her own. She eventually added more rooms and a second story that took her almost a decade to perfect. Rhys could only stay for short periods of time when the Highlord sent him. Every time he showed up and she collapsed another wall in anger he would give her shit for it. He said her real power was her affinity for demolitions. She swore at him and he helped her fix it.
Rayven’s favorite spot had to be her crows nest. She fashioned a single, thin rail with one prong protruding from the tip for her to sit or stand. It was uncomfortable, but she was the only one who could balance on it. If someone wanted her they’d have to be able to fly and maintain a small hover area. Most males couldn't manage suspended flight for long.
It was her perch she missed most sitting at the dining table in the Town House.
The Highlord sat at the head of the table with her mother to his left and Rhys to his right. A few other highly placed council members sat between them. Cassian, Azriel, and Rayven sat at the opposite end. Today, she was no more than a bastard in his eyes.
It could be excused, their separation. They had wings that needed extra room and Rhys usually kept his hidden.
Cassian sat to her left shielding her from some reeking older fae. She was on the very end of the table, across from Azriel.
He was the picture of disciplined boredom in this company while his shadows moved fluidly around his shoulders. Azriel wasn't going to participate here, but he never stopped watching.
She shared a glance with Rhys as the Highlord stood to retell the catastrophic events of Rava’s death.
Here he goes, he said.
Rayven’s lips twisted to the side to keep from smiling. She decided to keep her sights on the shadowsinger across her. He was equally uninterested in hearing the Highlord drone on about his broken heart.
For forcing all of them to mourn his loss with him, he rarely ever mentioned Rava. It was the same old speech about how his possession was taken from him and blah, blah, blah.
It was sixty-four years to the day of her initial banishment. She was numb to his stale venom at this point. She just had to make it through the toasting and then she was free to disappear back to her mountains.
Rahne wasn't paying attention either. She and one of Azriel’s shadows played by their feet under the table. Rayven ducked her chin to check on her shadow but she was shooting around her ankles.
Shit.
She looked up to the Highlord with a glass raised and went to hold hers when the bastards froze. Going completely still on their own this time.
The Highlord’s full voice lured her back in. “But this year we celebrate my daughter.”
The eyes of every fae in the room cut to Rayven. She didn't dare try to look at Rhys.
The Highlord’s cup was raised in the air. “Who has secured an alliance with the Spring Court,” he went on. “Strengthening the Night Court’s authority in the seasonal courts.”
She realized he was waiting for her response. She had one heartbeat to decide, she wasted the rest with stunned blinking.
“Your will is mine,” She clipped out. Her voice rose slightly at the end, like a question.
His eyes burned holes through her.
I’m dead. It was a good seven decades.
“To Rayven.” He spoke her name to me for the first time in years.
Everyone tensely sipped their glasses. Rhys put his to his mouth, but didn't tip it back. Cassian raised his for the toast then put it back down without drinking. Azriel never touched his.
Rayven drank hers for something to do. Her hands set the glass down too hard and it drew eyes back to her.
Thankfully, she excused herself without having to argue.
The Highlord wasn't daemati, but when his cold eyes seized hers, he didn't need to be. They were as loud as him speaking the words.
Later, they said.

I really must wonder, what had you invested in the Brother Gods of RWBY? Most people I lurk seemed to just sign them "assholes to be kicked in the nuts" after the Ozma's task reveal. What matter brought you to be rooting for the Brothers, especially their feud, with GoL's side and why? Can you tell me about your insight on the characters of those Brothers and why you think so? These are very genuine questions with genuine curiosity have a nice day drink your water regularly
It never occurred to me to question your genuine curiosity. You’ve shown nothing but sincerity so far.
But you’ve asked a very difficult question, by asking me to compare myself to others. What a minefield.
Obviously, I think I am correct; else I wouldn’t think what I do, and I would change my mind to think something else.
So, if I think something different from the majority, and I think I am right to do so, how do I justify this without supposing myself wiser, smarter, or more compassionate than the majority?
Misotheism
You’ll find advocates who won’t tolerate hearing a single criticism of Team RWBY, and will dismiss any as misogyny. You’ll find critics who can’t say a single good thing about Team RWBY, and for all I know they might well be misogynist. Some of Jaune’s worst critics might be misandrist.
So, maybe the worst critics of the Two Brothers are misotheists -- people inclined to hate gods or any personages in godlike positions of power and authority.
I’m certainly not a misotheist, so I’m not predisposed to hate the gods. I try to judge the gods according to their own actions, as well as according to their perspectives and intentions.
Just Sibling Things
One factor of my sympathy towards the Two Brothers, and the Older Brother in particular, is that I myself am an older brother. My younger brother and I are “Irish Twins”, in that he was conceived relatively shortly after I was born, and so most of our lives we have been roughly equal in size, strength, and skill.
I know what it is like to disagree with such a brother, and to do everything in my power to bend him to my will, including the final resort of violence. I know the ultimate futility of changing someone else’s mind with appeals to reason, appeals to emotion, or even threats of force, and thus the importance of achieving a good relationship based on respect and compromise.
I was also the more creative one, and my brother the more destructive one, though my brother was nowhere near as terrible as the Younger Brother. Unlike the Younger Brother, mine was by far the more sociable of the two of us, so I have an inkling of how the Older Brother couldn’t bring himself to kill the Younger Brother and leave himself alone in the universe... assuming such a feat was even possible for the two of them.
“No” Means “No” (but it doesn’t mean “I hate you”)
I also grew up respecting my mother’s authority and trusting in her love for me. I learned early in life that my parents had limited resources and couldn’t give me everything I asked for, or even everything that they wanted to give me without being asked.
Mother would certainly try to explain herself if I asked Why, but she made it clear very early that she would never tolerate whining or tantrums. If I could not request for something politely or offer a polite counter-argument, the answer would automatically become “No”. Because she wanted my brother and I to know how to persuade other adults by the time we had become adults.
Thinking More Than One Step Ahead
Some people have what I think is called “Phase 1” thinking, where they can only imagine the immediate reaction to an action and they stop there, content that their goal is achieved with no consequences.
For example, they look at how the God of Creation, at best, only bowed his head and turned his eyes away in sorrow as his brother murdered the first humanity. (Some fans don’t even bother to remember that much detail, because it contradicts their headcanon that the Brothers are equally at fault.)
Their Phase 1 thinking is that the Older Brother should have intervened to protect humanity, and then the whole thing would just magically blow over with no consequences.
Phase 2+ thinking is recognizing that is a childish fantasy.
1) There is no way words would have stopped this war. Words didn’t stop the God of Destruction during the divine war; limited violence followed by words of reconciliation did.
2) The Younger Brother was rearing for a physical fight just from the Older Brother barging into his room to enforce the rules they had agreed upon. For his brother to assault him after humanity did, and to do so while actually breaking their rules himself*, there’s no way the God of Destruction wouldn’t fight back. *(At least, it makes absolute sense that their original agreement would include “If they ever choose Destruction to the point of trying to destroy US, then I win our Destruction versus Creation bet and I get to destroy them.” Followed by the canonical compromise “best two out of three; I get a second chance to show they will choose Creation”.)
3) A divine fistfight between gods who can casually destroy a planet is going to result in far more collateral damage than when there was no planet for the God of Creation to worry about. As Ozpin told Pyrrha “You’d only get in the way”, but Remnant had no power to flee from the fight like Pyrrha could.
4) This isn’t the first time the God of Creation has been helpless to save his creations from his brother destroying them. This isn’t the first time his heart has been broken. Sectors of the fandom live to talk about psychological abuse and the ways that abuse-victims try to protect themselves from more pain, and they’ll forgive Cinder’s abuse of Emerald because of Cinder’s own past of abuse, but somehow that doesn’t apply to the God of Creation who NEVER WANTED things to get this bad.
The God of Life has a pool of immortality just laying around waiting to be used, and his brother is the God of Death, and people place equal blame on the God of Life that his equal and opposite demands that people die.
Because the God of Death resurrected ONE mortal out of envy for his brother and for his own flattered ego, that somehow erases the fact that he’s logically the ultimate reason why Ozma died in the first place, and it means that Salem didn’t actually need to hear the explanation she didn’t want to hear from the God of Life about why he couldn’t afford to bring Ozma back even though he wanted to.
Phase 1 thinking. The next phase would be realizing that if the Older Brother hadn’t intervened, the Younger Brother would have found himself constantly inundated by humans begging for their loved ones back, and when he would inevitably refuse, they would begin shouting at him like Salem shouted at his brother, and like others certainly shouted at the Older Brother many times before Salem.
And I don’t think the God of Destruction would have responded to angry demands as gracefully as his brother.

Carnifex and Calamity’s parents.
I decided to do a more detailed post about their parents.
Calian Crimson
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Calian is a vampire lord of over a thousand years (probably one of the few if not the last millennial vampire of Faerûn), before becoming a vampire he was a Selûne paladin and Aylin’s own pupil. He was not bitten, his transformation was thanks to a cursed object he used to kill a vampire he was hunting, he did not know that the special curse was to become the creature he was hunting. (someone did not pass the perception test) Then he was regarded as a traitor by his companions, he begged for salvation for Selûne but the answer was swords and spears. Revolted he plunged into the darkness of his new nature, he broke his oath and with the power of oathbreaker he plunged the continent into blood.
His reign of terror earned him the conquest of becoming the first King of vampires by merit and became known as "Crimson Tyrant", for centuries he reigned until everything lost its meaning. He became bored and abandoned everything by disappearing and never being seen as dead again. Upon completing his first millennium he gained the ability to walk in the sunlight and lived in the town of Baldur’s Gate where he met a half-elf named Verena who would become his wife.
He lived 10 peaceful years with his wife and children until other vampires united in conspiracy against him to kill him, they "killed" Verena and forced Calian out of town, to protect the twins and leaves them away from the conflict he sealed the vampire side of the twins along with his memories. He then fought and killed half of the vampires who conspired against him, but was seriously injured in the process and was forced to hibernate for 100 years. What he couldn’t predict was that the twins' guardian would die protecting them and leaving them alone in the world to survive on their own.
Verena
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Verena did not have an easy life, her elf father abandoned her mother when she was still a child and her human mother became an addict who beat her whenever she could blaming a child for her miserable life. So the half-elf ran away early from home and learned to survive on the streets, she started with robberies, but as she grew up she ended up choosing to become an assassin for a simple reason… it was more profitable.
She became one of the best assassins for hire alongside two others, an elf and a Drow. In a few years Verena had enough money to live a comfortable life so she decided to retire and start a life from scratch now in legality, but before her profession "partners" tried to persuade her to join the guild they were creating, the proposal was refused.
Verena began to live in the city comfortably without drawing attention literally enjoying his peaceful days, one day during a spring she saw a man in the streets, looked like an elf, but something in him was different he seemed not to belong to this scenario… the light. There was darkness in him that no light could illuminate and that attracted her, she caught him in the crowd and held his arm after that she never left him alone again. Calian was the quiet, solitary type while Verena was outgoing and humorous, she brought his life to life and even when she found out he was a vampire it didn’t scare her. She accepted him the way he was.
They married months after they met, they loved each other like in fairy tales and when they found out they were parents they could hardly believe it, she always said it was a miracle. For 10 years they were happy until the night of her murder, she was killed and transformed by Cazador. Verena spent 100 years in the dungeons of Cazador just thinking of her husband and children until the day the twins entered the dungeons with their group to kill Cazador.

ryan destiny as aaliyah: link to character playlist.
Aaliyah’s innocent looks often allow her to get close to her enemies before they realize their mistakes. Rumors have swirled about the numerous ways she’s brought powerful men to their knees. Other women would call her flawless, apart from the scar that runs from her neck to her chest. The mark left behind by the last man who thought the absence of her brother would make it easy to take what he wanted from her. The Sunburst in the Storm (One-Shot)
Tumblr media
A/N: Alright time for a SUPER angsty CodyWan one-shot that I was super nervous to write. As always, thank you to the WONDERFUL @teletraan-meets-jarvis for beta-reading this (and encouraging me to post it haha)!
Tumblr media
The wind had begun whistling against the side of the dwelling, tossing sand against it that would smooth down the edges and slowly erode the outer walls. The windows darkened as the storm grew, the only illumination coming from the few lamps he kept in the small living area.
The dwelling was humble to be sure, but it was all he felt he deserved. The wind crescendoed to a deep wail, hiding the voices of the ghosts that haunted him, calling out in his mind. His peers. His friends. His lovers. His padawan. All dead.
Because of him.
His master, gone because he was a step too slow. His peers, murdered in cold blood, betrayed by those who never had a say in the matter, those that they had trusted most. His mind drifted to the commander he had served with once more, wondering what had become of the man that had tried to kill him.
By all accounts, I should be one of the ghosts.
He’d been lucky while others had not, and he had spent years wondering what exactly made him worthy of survival, what greater purpose he had been destined for.
Perhaps only to live with my failure, to do this penance.
So many of his friends, gone. The duchess that he had loved desperately enough to leave everything he knew behind. The senator that had only been trying to do the right thing, wanting to reach the one that she loved. But her husband had already gone at that point, consumed by the darkness, the darkness his master had failed to deter.
The younglings haunted him most of all. The tiny voices, the innocents that had asked for aid from his padawan, only to have their lives ripped from them instead, betrayed by one they had trusted.
Ripped out by the roots. Because of me.
His heart ached for the soldiers that had committed the genocide. He was certain if they ever had regained their minds, that they’d share in his suffering, the guilt that consumed him.
I may not have lifted a weapon against any of them, but I am the one most responsible. He was my apprentice. And I failed.
How could he have known that the small boy from this desert planet would be the undoing of an ancient order that had survived for millenia? All of the warning signs were there, the anger, the fear, the mistrust, swirling just beneath the surface and yet always apparent now when he looked back. Had he been foolhardy to think that he could change the boy, to mold him into what his destiny had pre-ordained?
The Chosen One. The one that would bring balance to the Force.
The words burned him from the inside out like a brand that he’d wear for the rest of his life.
I failed him.
The friendship that had led to all of this had been troublesome from the start, but he’d never been able to pinpoint why.
“The Chancellor has taken a unique interest in the boy.”
He could have never said it felt unwarranted; the boy’s future had been foretold to be extraordinary after all. It made sense that a political leader would wish to align with someone that carried such promise. And yet, there had been his undoing, his blindness to the influence the Chancellor had over the boy.
A Sith lord right under my nose, and I was completely unaware. I failed in that respect as well.
This was his penance: hiding on this wasteland, serving as protector of a son not his own, hoping that the darkness would not consume the child like it had his father. A promise kept to a mother dying of a broken heart.
I’ll keep them safe, Padmé. Rest now.
A rattling outside caught his attention. Likely something not tied down properly that’s blown by, doomed to drift on the wind until the storm relented. Perhaps when the twin suns reappeared, it would be buried, hidden. Forgotten.
Like me.
He sighed, pushing himself up from the kneeling position he had assumed, trying to reach out and meditate, to calm his mind. It felt fruitless, like his connection only amplified the voices crying out to him, reminding him of his failure. His knees creaked more than they used to, a reminder of time’s unrelenting progression and the toll it takes. He rubbed at the offending joints, willing them to move without the pain that had begun to set in just before the storm.
Another loud noise outside, the sound of something scraping along the outer wall, and he paused once more, but when the noise did not persist, he resumed his walk to the small kitchenette pressed into a corner. Turning on the small stove, he filled his kettle with some of the precious water from his supply. He rarely indulged in tea, but the memories were especially haunting tonight. His mind drifted again, and before he knew it, he had accidentally filled the kettle all the way to the top.
Wasteful, he chastised himself. That’s more than I’ll ever be able to drink.
With water being as precious as it was, he normally was careful with his rationing. He sighed. The access to refill his water supply was outside, and there was no way he was going outside just to dump some excess out of a kettle back into the supply. Accepting that he was going to make more tea than he needed, he set the kettle on the stove, resting his hands against the counter as he stared out the window into the storm.
Sand whipped by, whispering against the transparisteel as it was flung against it in ribbons. It was early evening, so the light would have already been dimmer, but the sand had blocked out any hope of seeing the twin suns setting, leaving the landscape inundated in a murky, brown darkness. He sighed, running his fingers through his hair, silver slowly beginning to overtake the warm brown.
The kettle whistled, and he removed it from the stove, placing it on his small table as he reached for the tea leaves and a cup. As his fingers closed around the delicate ceramic, he froze.
He felt something. The cup fell from his hands, shattering against the sandstone floor. The sound of the cup shattering pulled him from his haze, and he violently shook his head.
Ridiculous.
Carefully, he stooped down to begin retrieving the larger pieces of the broken cup, but there it is again. A presence, the signature unmistakable to him.
Warmth. Golden. A sunburst. A scar.
His breathing came in short gasps as he fell to his knees. It can’t be.
Another scraping sound outside, louder, closer. The wind howled at a shriller pitch, screaming at him.
A knock.
His eyes widened.
Impossible.
Another bang, more persistent this time. One that could only be made by knuckles against metal.
He stood, shakily.
“Who’s there?”
No reply. Another rap against the metal.
He floundered, trying to remember where he’d placed his weapon.
The chest. Near the door.
He practically flew to it, scrambling to unlock the clasp, the cool metal hilt against his fingers. He gripped it tightly enough to turn his knuckles white.
Impossible, he thought again. You’re going mad out here, alone.
He stood at the door. The knock came again, inches from his nose. He reached out.
How can this be?
It was unmistakable, although improbable, but he could take the torture of being uncertain no more. His fingers found the control panel, pressing the button and springing the door open. The wind was deafening without the barrier in between him and the outside. Sand whipped against his cheeks, burning his skin, and he shielded his eyes.
“WHO’S THERE?” he demanded with more authority than he felt, the lightsaber trembling at his side.
He could see nothing, hear nothing other than the wind. He stood for a few moments before scoffing.
I’m losing my grip on things, he decided, turning back to close the door.
But then, a crunch. He whirled. A figure, dark and looming. Hooded and cloaked against the elements, face hidden beneath wraps, goggles, and a respirator. The silhouette was indistinct due to the clothing that covered it. Sirens were screaming in the back of his mind, as he tucked his lightsaber behind his hip, reaching his other hand out.
It could be anyone. But not him.
“Come in out of the storm, my friend. You may wait inside with me. Crossing in this weather is dangerous.”
The figure said nothing, but stepped closer, almost hesitantly. The presence slammed into him again.
Yellow paint on white armor. A smile. Warm brown eyes. A smell reminiscent of cinnamon.
He stumbled, the sensation overwhelming him. His weapon slipped from his grasp and clattered to the ground, rolling forward and coming to a stop at the visitor’s feet. The hood dipped as the figure stared at the hilt resting against the toe of a boot. Bending slowly, gloved fingers closed around the metal, lifting it and testing its weight in a palm before stepping forward once more.
Obi-Wan was on one knee, unbelieving as the figure approached, gently wrapping a hand around his arm and pulling him to his feet. He could feel the visitor’s fingers trembling beneath the fabric of gloves, but the grip was firm. Commanding. Familiar.
Back in his dwelling, Obi-Wan stepped away from the visitor quickly, backing up until his lower back slammed into the kitchenette’s modest counter, his feet crunching on the broken ceramic remnants of the cup, long forgotten. The visitor shut the door behind them, and the wind was immediately muted, giving way to a deafening silence.
“Do you know me?” a modulated voice asked.
Obi-Wan hesitated, still unsure he could trust what he felt.
It has to be a trick. A cruel trick.
He remained silent.
“Do you fear me?” the voice tried again.
“No.” The response surprised Obi-Wan as it escaped his lips without hesitation. He paused again, and ultimately found what he’d just said to be true. “I could never fear you.”
The figure still clutched the lightsaber, the head bowing to study it once more before holding it out, extending it towards the former Jedi Master. Obi-Wan’s eyes darted from the weapon to the expressionless mask that watched him intently before his feet carried him across the distance, closing the space between them. He grasped the lightsaber, his fingernails scraping the worn leather of the glove as he took it, clipping it back to his belt. The figure watched him.
“Do you truly not know me?” The voice was quieter, still unfamiliar from the modulator’s buzzing.
Obi-Wan’s eyes flicked back up to the mask, searching for some confirmation of his suspicions, still not daring to believe what he felt.
“You can’t be him,” he whispered.
“I am not him. Not the man you knew, at least.”
Obi-Wan could feel the weight that the visitor carried, the guilt that mirrored his own. The figure’s shoulders were stooped, bent under the invisible load that threatened to overwhelm him at any instant. Obi-Wan reached up, his fingers closing around the fabric of the hood, pushing it back from the visitor’s head to rest on his shoulders. The figure tensed under his touch, but did not pull away.
The Jedi continued, his fingers finding the edge of the wrapping that kept the sand from getting past the goggles and modulator, and slowly he unwrapped it, sand that had been caught trickling down the visitor’s cloak and falling to the floor. He could smell sweat, could feel apprehension. He still refused to believe. His fingers found the tighter, second hood that covered the visitor’s head, and he slipped his digits into the edge, pushing it back to reveal brown skin and a mess of dark curls, streaked with grey much as his own hair was. And there, peeking out from the top of the goggles, a crescent-shaped scar.
His hands trembled as he reached for the goggles strap, loosening it. He went to lift pull the goggles from the man’s face, but gloved fingers latched around his wrists.
“Are you certain?” the voice asked. “Are you sure you want to know what I’ve become?”
“I am.”
A shuddering breath, but neither could be sure who had released it.
The goggles lifted, revealing eyes closed, long dark lashes fluttering as dust trickled down the bridge of a wide nose. Dark brows furrowed, a crease between them, formed from caring too much, and a long scar raking along the visitor’s left temple and cheek, earned from a war he was created to fight in. Obi-Wan’s fingers brushed the sand away from where it was stuck to the visitor’s skin.
Warm. Rough. As always.
As if in a dream, his fingers traced the shape of the scar, and the visitor’s eyes snapped open, brown irises glowing like dying coals that had just been blown upon.
Obi-Wan inhaled sharply.
The eyes closed again, and the visitor leaned into the hand that rested against the scar. A tear fell from one eye, water cutting through the sand, trickling down to rest on top of the respirator that Obi-Wan was already removing, fully revealing the face of a ghost he had long searched for amongst the many that haunted him.
“Cody.”
The commander stared at him, emotions rolling off of him in waves that buffeted the Jedi standing before him.
Pain. Sadness. Anger. Fear. So much fear.
“How are you here?” Obi-Wan wasn’t sure if the question was meant to be answered or not, but Cody gave him a tight smile.
“I’ve spent years looking. I was told you’d died, but I didn’t believe it.”
“Despite your best efforts.” The wit was cutting, but it felt familiar to the two of them, pulling a short huff of a laugh from the clone before his smile faded.
“I…it wasn’t…I would never-“
He fears me.
Obi-Wan’s heart shattered.
He fears I am angry. That I don’t understand it wasn’t his choice.
He closed the gap between them once more, his hands cupping Cody’s cheeks as the commander floundered for an explanation he had spent years trying to perfect, never quite succeeding.
“I know, Cody.” The commander’s eyes met his, a flicker of hope flashing in them. “I know.”
The tears streamed from Cody’s eyes uninhibited now, and he wrapped his arms around his former general, fingers digging into the fabric tightly as he sobbed.
“I never thought you’d be able to forgive me,” he said, the tear stains streaking the light dust across his cheeks. “I can’t seem to forgive myself.”
Obi-Wan rested his forehead against Cody’s, giving in to the emotions overwhelming him. “Will you stay?” he asked.
“Will you allow me to?”
Obi-Wan huffed a quiet laugh, his thumbs grazing Cody’s cheeks. “Of course. And perhaps, we can learn to forgive ourselves. Together.”
Chapped lips found sand-burned ones. Gloved fingers tangled in greying brown strands. Tears intermingled between breaths. A moment that almost felt stolen, so precious and meaningful in such a small, humble space between two people that had spent years never daring to hope.
“Forgive me,” Cody begged, his voice barely audible as his gloved hands cradled Obi-Wan’s face.
“There is nothing to forgive,” Obi-Wan whispered, turning his face to place a kiss to Cody’s palm.
The commander released a wavering breath, some of the weight slipping from his shoulders. His eyes glanced over Obi-Wan’s shoulder, resting on the broken ceramic on the ground. He chuckled, the low rumble that Obi-Wan was so familiar with and had never hoped to hear again.
“Still prone to dropping things, I see.”
For the first time in as long as he could remember, Obi-Wan smiled. “Only when you’re around, Cody.” He turned, surveying the kitchenette, and his eyes fell on the cooling kettle. His smile widened. “Now, would you care for some tea? It appears I’ve inadvertently heated enough water for two.”
The wind howled outside, but the voices were quieter, muted by those of the living inside the dwelling.

Tumblr media
After a few tries and encouragement from Pietro, I managed to win the black cat plush toy for Wanda. It was strange, her brother wanting me to make a move on her, but I guess it reassured me a bit to know he thought I was actually good enough for her.
The two of us headed to the diner next door to find Y/BF/N and the other Maximoff twin, myself hiding the plush toy behind my back.
"Finally, you two took forever!" Y/BF/N exclaimed when he saw us approaching their table.
"Y/N here is one stubborn girl with that machine," Pietro explained with a smile as we took our seats. His eyes fell to the drink in front of him. "Oh, you ordered!"
"Just the drinks," Y/BF/N said, before looking to me as I slid in beside him in the booth. "I got you a Cherry Coke. Your favourite."
I smiled gratefully. "Thanks."
"So, what d'you win?" he asked, quirking a brow.
Feeling the heat rising up my neck, I looked to Wanda who was sat opposite Y/BF/N. She was leaning on her hand as she stared at me with a kind smile on her lips.
"You said you wanted the black cat," I said nervously, before holding it out to her. "Here."
Taken aback, she raised her eyebrows but accepted the gift. "Aww, Y/N... you didn't have to!"
I shrugged, smiling awkwardly.
She grinned, studying the toy before looking up at me with sparkling hazel eyes. "I love it. Thank you."
Nodding, I glanced at Pietro who was grinning with pride before me. I could feel Y/BF/N staring at me and when I looked his way, he was smirking and wiggling his eyebrows knowingly. Rolling my eyes, I focused my attention on the menu to distract myself.
"So... what shall we order?" I asked, hoping to change the subject.
After relaying our order to the waitress, Pietro was the first to speak up.
"Okay, I have to ask," he began, leaning forward slightly as he looked between Y/BF/N and I. "Are you guys dating?"
I almost choked on my drink as I looked over my glass to see him grinning cheekily. He knew full well that Y/BF/N and I were only friends, so what was he playing at?
"Definitely not," Y/BF/N answered with a chuckle. Y/N here is practically my sister."
"Exactly," I added, giving Pietro a look that basically said I'm going to murder you. "He's been my best friend since we were kids."
"So there's never been feelings there?" Pietro continued to question curiously, leaning back in his seat.
Wanda slapped his arm gently. "Leave them alone, Piet."
"Never," Y/BF/N answered for us both. "Like I said, she's my annoying little sister."
I quirked a brow and looked to him. "Little? I think I'd be the older sister in this fake sibling relationship,"
"But I'm a month older than you," he stated like that was explanation enough.
"But you act like a child," I retorted. "I'd be the older one."
He rolled his eyes, though a smile was playing on his lips. "Yeah, yeah, whatever you say."
I rolled my eyes, too, before looking back to the twins. Wanda was smiling as she sipped her drink and Pietro had a mischievous glint in his eyes as he looked to me. What the hell was he thinking?
"So you're not interested in Y/BF/N," he thought aloud. "And you definitely weren't interested in me..."
"You made a move on Y/N?" Wanda asked suddenly, looking to her brother with knitted brows.
I breathed out through my nose, eyes falling to the table with embarrassment.
"Yeah, but she made it clear she didn't like me," Pietro said with a shrug, before looking to me again. "So who do you like then? Or is their a girlfriend we don't know about?"
Looking up, I saw three sets of eyes on me and I suddenly felt nervous. Y/BF/N and Pietro were watching with amusement dancing in their eyes as Wanda chewed her lip curiously, awaiting an answer.
"You know there's nobody, Pietro," I said through a forced smile as I looked to him.
His cheeky smile was still present as he said. "Really? I thought you mentioned someone back then. Whilst we were playing in the arcade."
Oh, boy, was he going to die.
"You misunderstood," I played along, before kicking him in the shin to shut him the hell up.
Of course, it was just my luck that the leg in front of me was actually Wanda's. She squeaked an 'ow' as she bent down to rub her leg.
"What was that?" she asked with confusion.
Pietro must have pitied me, having put me on the spot enough in the past two minutes, as he looked to his sister with an apologetic smile. "My bad, Wands. My foot just twitched."
I breathed out with relief as Pietro looked to me, trying not to laugh. He was lucky we were with company otherwise I would have killed him there and then.
I wasn't expecting to be hanging out with the Maximoff twins on a Saturday afternoon, but by the time dinner came to an end, I realised how much I enjoyed the day. And I think I could say the same for Y/BF/N, too.
The rest of our meal was pretty uneventful after Pietro's initial teasing, to my relief, and Pietro eventually quit it with the overt hints towards his sister. The last thing I wanted was for Wanda to feel uncomfortable, so I was glad he eventually cut it out.
At the end of the meal, Pietro and Y/BF/N offered to split the bill between them – something about chivalry not being dead, I don't know, all I knew was Wanda and I were getting a free meal so why complain? – and headed to the till to pay, leaving Wanda and I alone.
She was hugging her new black cat plushie on her lap adorably, making me smile.
"Aren't black cats supposed to be bad luck or something?" I asked, earning her attention.
She put her arm on the back of her seat, leaning her head on her hand as she gave me her full attention. "I didn't peg you for the suspicious type," she taunted.
I smiled. "I never said I believed it. Just what I've heard."
She chuckled, licking her lips. "Fair point... I don't believe it either. I just love black cats. They're so cute and get way too much stick for merely existing."
It was my turn to laugh. She had such a unique way of thinking that I couldn't help but be attracted to. Something as simple as the way she was smiling at me right now warmed my heart.
"How is your hand by the way?" she suddenly asked, eyes looking down to it.
I squeezed it into a fist and released. The purple bruising along my knuckles had turned yellow-green which meant it was getting better, but it did still hurt a little. Nonetheless, I didn't want to make Wanda feel bad, so I gave her a reassuring smile.
"It's okay," I said, making her look up at me with concerned eyes. "I mean, it hurts a little, but it's getting better."
She pursed her lips, nodding. "Nate really did deserve what you did. Bet it felt good."
I raised my eyebrows with surprise, certainly not expecting that. "I guess it did a little, but..."
"It's okay, I'm not biased," she promised with a slight smile. "We broke up, remember?"
I relaxed before mirroring her expression. "Then yeah, it felt pretty great. Karma for hitting me with that stupid football."
She chuckled, leaning back into her seat and clutching her cat. "Karma, indeed." There was a pause, before she grew excited. "So prom is coming up. How are we feeling?"
I groaned playfully. "We're feeling exhausted already. I'm not a huge prom fan."
She gasped. "Seriously? Y/N, come on, it's our last one! How aren't you excited?"
I pulled a face. "The concept of dancing in a hall with people I barely speak to isn't exactly appealing."
She straightened up, hugging her cat closely. "So what, you're not gonna go?"
"I'm not sure yet... Y/BF/N has plans to ask someone and really wants me to go, too," I admitted. "But I've not decided. I might just leave him to it."
She tilted her head to the side curiously, eyes studying me intensely. "What if somebody asked you to go with them? Then would you go?"
I tried not to laugh as I leaned my head in the palm of my hand on the table. "Nobody is going to ask me, Wanda. Nobody even knows who I am."
She scoffed playfully. "Now that's just not true. You're beautiful, Y/N. Funny. Kind. Intelligent. Someone is bound to ask."
I rolled my eyes, hoping to distract from the heat rising to my cheeks. I knew she was just saying all of that stuff to be nice, but God was I awful at accepting compliments.
She must have noticed as she leaned forward on her own palm, eyes glowing with entertainment. "Okay, what if you asked somebody?"
Appreciating the subject change, I leaned back in my seat. "I wouldn't even know who to ask."
She thought about it for a moment, before saying, "Pietro was being annoying earlier with all of that questioning, but he's right. Is there nobody you're even remotely interested in at school?"
I quirked a brow, wondering if she was serious. The way she was watching me patiently, a small smile tugging at her lips, made me believe she was. And I found that I couldn't bring it in myself to completely lie to her. So, I didn't.
"There's one person," I admitted reluctantly, swallowing hard. This piqued her interest as she sat up straight, an excited look on her face. I continued, "But I could never ask her."
She gave me an are you serious? look. "And why not?"
I tensed my jaw, smile fading at the thought. "She wouldn't say yes."
Wanda's expression softened. "I doubt that."
Feeling a little uncomfortable, I shuffled in my seat. "She wouldn't. And it's fine anyway! I mean, I wouldn't even know what to say. It's pointless."
"Try," was all she said. And in response to my confused face, she added, "Try asking me. Practice what you would say if I was this girl."
I shook my head. "Wanda, that's not–"
"Just try!" she insisted, sitting back in her seat and smiling encouragingly. "No harm, no foul, right?"
Maybe a little, I thought, but straightened up anyway.
"Okay, er..." I cleared my throat, suddenly feeling nervous as her eyes followed my every move. Looking up, I felt intimidated by her gaze, even though she had the softest smile and kindest eyes directed my way. "Wanda, would you like to go to prom with me?"
Without hesitation, she nodded. "I'd be honoured to, Y/N."
It was fake, this whole thing was 'practice'. But God, I wanted it to be real so bad. She held my gaze, confident and startling and wonderful all at once, and I had no idea what to do. My palms were getting sweaty and my heart was racing the longer she stared. My gaze fell to her lips at the wrong time, as she licked them and I wanted to lean in, wanted to kiss her. I wanted to kiss her hard and tell her how I felt. I wanted to ask her to prom and dance with her in the school gym. I wanted to hold her hand and pull her close, staring into her eyes without fear of going too far.
I wanted her.
"Okay, we're all done here," Pietro's voice broke our staring contest. He clapped his hands together, stopping by the table. "You both ready to go?"
Wanda nodded, already sliding out from the booth. "I'm ready. Y/N?"
I looked up and forgot how to breathe when she smiled down at me.
"Y-yeah," I got out, wiping my palms on my jeans before sliding out the booth. "All ready. Let's go."
Prom came upon us in no time and I'd made the decision to attend. My sister ended up convincing me with Y/BF/N, the two of them rambling about how it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a rite of passage before graduating high school. As much as I hated the thought of attending, I knew they were right, so I agreed to go.
Y/S/N came over to help me get ready, as she was the one who picked my dress. I wanted to wear a cute pantsuit, not really one for dresses, but after her complaints – "you're really milking that whole 'I'm a lesbian' look aren't you?" – I agreed on a dress that she chose.
She helped me do my hair and makeup before taking loads of embarrassing photos of me at the door. I went to prom with Y/BF/N and his date – some girl he liked in his Maths class – which wasn't too bad, but I didn't want to third wheel too much, so I gave them space when we actually arrived.
The school had done a good job at converting the gym into something unrecognisable, I must admit. Plus there was food, which was always a good distraction.
Some acquaintances from some of my classes said their hellos to me and engaged in some quick conversations before moving on. Admittedly, it wasn't too bad catching up with people I'd shared class with over the past several years. Y/BF/N even had a few dances with me, both him and his date, which was sweet, but honestly, I still felt out of place.
Two hours in, I was already fed up of the experience, opting to stand on the sidelines by a cocktail table with a sad glass of punch. I definitely didn't expect to see Wanda approaching me with an impressed smile on her lips. I hadn't actually seen her since arriving, the place full of students and myself barely recognising anyone as it was, let alone in a full gymnasium.
"You came," she said when she stopped my table, eyes looking me up and down. "You look amazing, Y/N."
She was one to talk. I tried not to drool over how beautiful she looked. I assumed she'd be one to wear a dress, but I guess I assumed wrong as she was pulling off a burgundy suit and white blouse. Her hair was curled and left out, paired with a smokey eye makeup look that only complimented her eyes perfectly.
"Says you?" I replied with a smile. "You look gorgeous, Wanda."
She smiled bashfully. "Thank you... so what made you change your mind in coming?"
I laughed uncomfortably, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "Partially forced by my family, partially felt like I had to."
She laughed alongside me. "Well, I feel like you made the right choice."
"Not too sure about that," I joked, before straightening up. "So, who was lucky enough to bring Wanda Maximoff as their date to the prom?"
She rolled her eyes at my compliment, smile on her lips still. "Nobody. I came alone. Well, alone but with my brother."
I was surprised at that, but tried to hide it with a nod. "Alone works, too."
"Says the girl who also came alone," she teased.
I couldn't help but smile with amusement. "Yeah. Says she."
Setting her purse on the table, she began to open it. "I was looking for you earlier. But I couldn't find you."
I watched as she fumbled around in her purse. "Yeah? And what did you need?"
After a moment of searching, she finally pulled out two slips of paper that looked like tickets. Holding them up with a small smile, she said, "I've got two tickets to the Paramore concert happening in the summer."
My jaw dropped with disbelief. "You're kidding."
She shook her head, holding them towards me. I accepted them, looking to see if she was pulling my leg. She wasn't.
"These are really good seats," I pointed out, before looking up at her. "You scored big time."
She laughed as I held the tickets out to her. Accepting them back, she said, "I did. And I bought them for a reason."
I raised an eyebrow as she watched me.
"We've got to get matching tee shirts somehow, right?" she joked lightheartedly before looking to me with certainty. Green eyes sparkled with hopefulness as she said, "Come with me."
My mouth went dry. She was asking me to go with her, holy shit.
I opened my mouth, about to speak, but she cut me off.
"Don't say maybe," she said, chewing on her lower lip nervously. "Say yes."
The music and the dancing students and the lights all faded into nothing as Wanda waited for a response, stepping closer to me, way too close to be platonic. I was overwhelmed, definitely not expecting this. Never in a million years did I think Wanda Maximoff, the most popular girl in our grade, would be asking me to see Paramore with her. I didn't even think she knew I existed!
Her eyes darted between mine patiently, sending shivers down my spine. I could feel her breath tickling my lips as she waited and I looked down to hers, suppressing the urge to lean in.
"Yes," I finally spoke, voice barely a whisper as I swallowed hard. "I'll go with you."
She nodded, but that wasn't enough as she licked her own lips. I looked back to her eyes, only to see her looking down at mine.
"Can I kiss you?" she muttered softly, making me freeze in place.
Her eyes looked back to mine, dark and patient. I managed to nod weakly, and she wasted no more time when pressing her lips to mine a in a slow, gentle, warm kiss. Her hand wrapped around my waist, tugging my body close to hers, as the other rested behind my neck, giving me goosebumps and turning my insides to jelly.
I closed my eyes, melting into her embrace, one hand planted firmly on her waist as the other rested on her chest. She tasted like peppermint and her floral perfume was infiltrating my senses, making my head dizzy in the best way possible.
When she pulled away, I opened my eyes and was immediately submerged in pools of green. Still so close to her, I kept ahold of her waist as she did the same with me, eyes flickering down to my lips once more.
"I've wanted to do that for a long time," I admitted breathlessly.
She looked to me again. "Why didn't you?"
Her lips were swollen slightly, red lipstick ruined. I could only imagine the mess on my own lips, but I didn't care.
I smiled nervously. "You were with Nate."
She tried not to laugh. "How stupid of me." Eyes falling to my lips again, she added, "I should have broken up with him sooner if it meant I could do this."
I smiled widely, heart fluttering in my chest at her words. Leaning forward, I took her bottom lip in mine, giving her a final kiss that was long overdue before pulling away.
"In case you couldn't tell, you were the girl I wanted to ask to prom," I said, stepping back slightly, but taking her hands in mine.
She bit her lip to contain her smile. "I figured... and for the record, I would have said yes."
My cheeks began to heat up, but I smiled nonetheless. "Well, in that case... Wanda, would you like to go to prom with me?"
She grinned. "I would be honoured, Y/N."
I mirrored her expression. She held out her free hand.
"Do you wanna dance?" she asked gently.
I accepted her hand, squeezing it gently. "I'd love to."
Before either of us could make a move to do so, we heard Pietro's voice shouting in the distance.
"Fina-fucking-lly!"
We turned to the left to see him racing towards us in his blue suit, a knowing smile on his lips.
"You took forever," he said with disbelief to his sister. "I thought I'd have to keep flirting with Y/N in front of you for you to get the hint and make a fucking move."
Wanda rolled her eyes, but I smiled as her cheeks dusted pink.
"And you!" he said, looking to me. "You're so oblivious it hurts."
"Wanda didn't know I existed before this year," I told him, half joking and half serious. "I had every right to be."
Wanda squeezed my hand, earning my attention. She shook her head. "That's not true. I always noticed you."
I gave her a knowing look. "Seriously?"
With an endearing smile, she nodded. "Seriously."
I sighed, looking away and definitely not expecting that. "Well, okay then."
She laughed, pulling me close and wrapping an arm around my waist comfortably. "I believe you owe me a dance. C'mon.
Pietro opened his mouth to speak, but Wanda merely pushed past him, guiding me to the dance floor.
"Not now, Piet," she said, before looking to me with sparkling eyes. "I want to dance with my girlfriend."
I was sure it was impossible for me to smile anymore.
"Girlfriend," I noted aloud, nodding. "I like the sound of that."
She grinned before standing opposite me, holding out her hand. And as I accepted it, I felt a warmth spread all over me that was only possible because of one girl and one girl only.
Wanda Maximoff.

Can we take a moment to talk about what a tragic character Minerva is? Y’all know that for the longest time I haven’t been the biggest fan of her, and honestly I’m still not? but I think I might’ve had a breakthrough on why that is.
Whenever I’ve asked around to see why people find her so appealing or why they consider her their favorite, I’ll get answers like, “she’s such a complex character and she deserved a redemption arc!” or “she should’ve come back to the school with us! Let Minnie be happy, you cowards! Telltale did her dirty! I could write paragraph after paragraph about her!” all sorts of things along those lines… but like, no one seems to want to actually talk about her. I find that interesting? Since when I do follow up with a “care to explain further?” I get nothing. Radio static. Like…. no, talk to me please, I just wanna understand-
Minerva within the context of TFS is such a tragedy. She grew up in a school for troubled youth where all the adults left them for death at the start of the breakout, they had walkers trying to eat the living all around them, and I’m sure she saw her fair share of traumatic violence and despair… but on the bright side, she always had her twin sister, Sophie, and little brother, Tenn. She had her friend and eventual girlfriend, Violet. She had music, and a dorm full of pretty paintings done by Sophie. She and Louis composed a song together to make everyone feel better. There are worse places to live than the school.
Then one day she got traded away to a bunch of raiders against her will, having no idea what the hell these people were gonna do to her and Sophie. They were made to be soldiers to fight in a war that had nothing to do with them. The delta fucking broke her. If we’re to believe Lilly’s story about the twins, they started their brainwashing process early on when Sophie was still alive, and it seems like Minerva was easier to control as Sophie was still planning a way out and causing trouble. Then, when Sophie convinced her to steal a boat and get the hell out, they got caught and the delta forced her to murder her own twin sister.
Like…. I’m sorry, not only did Minerva kill her own sister, but she was made to believe that was the right thing to do? That line she says about how she had to prove her loyalty to the place she calls home? That shit’s ingrained in her brain, you can tell that isn’t the first time she’s heard or said that very thing. That is what made her family to the delta. Delta is her home now, her family. Sophie was just a thing that needed to be dealt with. You keep your head down, do as you’re told, and you survive.  You survive and you get to go home, eat a hot meal, take a shower, and be with your delta family.  If not, you end up like Sophie.
What’s also fucked is that Minerva actually cares about these people now. Think about that. After everything they did to her and made her do, she’s been trained to see them as her family and obey. When you save Louis and he kills Dorian, Minerva actually cries out and is visibly hurt by her death. When she’s with the other raiders on land, she's screaming at walkers to get away from them. She cares about the people who made her kill Sophie… and no one ever talks about that??
She fucking hates Clementine. Clementine is just another thing in Minnie’s way. I know the part of the fandom likes to ship these two together and they think it’s hot when they fight and shit, but within the canon text, Minerva wants Clementine gone. Dead. She is the thing stopping her from having her old family merge with her new family. If Clementine hadn’t made them fight, they all would’ve been captured and they’d all be a delta family now. She would’ve had Tenn back.
Clementine is the problem, she made everyone fight back and that’s why people are dead. Minerva hates her for it… it’s not a “I hate you but like the sexual tension, y’know?” that I see people pretend it is, it’s “you are ruining everything and if I have to, I will kill you myself and I won’t give a second thought about it when they toss your body overboard.”
Like….. seriously, think about how fucked up all of this is. Minerva is a husk of who she was before she was taken away. Sure, you do have to keep in mind that when Tenn and Violet are describing her, their sights are a bit clouded, y’know? But I do believe that she was someone who was kind and cared about people, she wanted to make people feel safe and comforted.
Now she’s a brainwashed soldier who won’t help the people she used to call friends when they’re about to get limbs cut off. She won’t hesitate to knock someone unconscious or threaten a child.  She’s willing to trick them into being captured with no regard for what’s going to happen to them. … all she knows is this was the mission, and now they all get to be together again back at the delta.
Then when she finds out there’s a bomb on the boat, she ditches Violet to blow up with it in order to make it to land herself. She loses her shit seeing everyone die and gets her face chewed off by a walker… and then she tries to blow Clementine and AJ up with a grenade.
Oh, and who can forget the fact that she tracks the group down with plans of murdering Tenn so that they can go to a better place together? And she’ll take down anyone who gets in her way?
Like….. jesus christ, Minerva’s waaaaay too far gone. It’s awful.
I think that’s what stumps me about why she’s so loved in the way that she is. It’s not that I don’t understand why she’s complex and well-written, I get that perfectly fine. She’s a compelling character study when you comb over all her scenes and take different factors into account.
What I don’t understand is why we tend to just throw everything interesting about her away? For what?
These days, I never see anyone talking about any of this unless they’re insisting she deserved a redemption arc which…. Eh, I’ll touch on this later. What I mostly see here and mostly other platforms is how great it would be if she and Clementine made out, or hey what if she and Violet got back together if she did come back to the school? Or they just….the best term I have for this is “uwu-ify.” As in she’s reduced to a caricature of a tall, pretty, mean, white lesbian who has “good damage.”
People insist that Telltale are cowards or bastards because their predictions of her turning on the delta to save Clem and crew didn’t happen. Instead, Minerva ends up being the final baddie you gotta get away from, and she ends up taking someone down with her. But did you really expect to just do a 180 and suddenly decide being brainwashed for over a year was lame and Clementine and friends are cool? Gonna help them out and be with Tenn again? Sure, there’s some left over trauma but love conquers and fixes everything, right?
Uh…. no? That’s not how people work? Honestly, if we entertain the idea that Minerva wasn’t bit and somehow didn’t murder Clementine when they all got back to the school…. romance is the last thing she is ever gonna think of??
I think that’s what bothers me most when reading these au’s and rants about redemption and the entire idea of clemerva as a whole. It’s the same thing that I see happen with Violet- Minerva only has value to fans if she’s in a wlw relationship. By herself, she doesn’t matter. They don’t care about her canon story, they don’t care about Sophie, they don’t care about discussing what could’ve happened if she and Tenn reunited under better circumstances or had a healing recovery together. But why?
Throwing a girlfriend at her isn’t some band aid that’s gonna cover up all the bad she went through?? Having an enemies to lovers romance with Clementine isn’t going to fix a years worth of brainwashing, trauma or the fact that she murdered her own sister and the delta told her she's proved her worth to them??
Having the support of those around her is a good thing, don’t get me wrong. The idea of the Ericson crew as a whole trying to help her out and do the best they can to accommodate her is bittersweet since there’s only so much they can do. They’re not trained therapists, which is what Minerva would need and plenty of years ahead of her to work through and come to terms with everything that happened as well as taking steps forward. I’m not saying that she shouldn’t have friends or that she couldn’t have a healthy romantic relationship someday... but that isn’t the solution, y’know?
I don’t know how else to explain this, but it makes me feel weird that all of this stuff is flat out overlooked or doesn’t appear to matter to fans of her.
Look, I get it. We all want these characters to be happy. AU’s are a thing, after all. Sometimes we want to forget about the bad things and focus on the good that bring us comfort. You wanna gush about the idea of an AU where the twins never got traded, the raiders didn’t exist, and Clementine got to meet them the way they were before? I feel that, AU’s are super comforting and fun to explore, and my point isn’t to try and shame anyone who has an AU you like this.
Hell, you think I don’t have days where I pretend mute Louis isn’t a thing because the whole concept of Louis having his tongue cut out of his mouth breaks my fucking heart? No, lot’s of days I just want to forget everything about that route, I want to set aside all the bad and just intake as much clouis fluff as I can get…. But that doesn’t mean I always ignore or refuse to acknowledge the bad just because I don’t like it. I fucking hate the fact that Louis loses his tongue when you don’t save him, but guess what? That’s a canon route you can play, just like any other route, and the possibilities that come with a mute Louis are vast and compelling.
This is how it is for me… my favorite characters are my favorite for a reason, and I take all the bad with the good. Louis isn’t perfect, and I don’t want him to be. I was to dive into his backstory about why did that to his parents, I like to talk about what he went through with Marlon’s murder and his feelings about AJ and Clementine at the point, I like to view his love of music as bittersweet. He can stand on his own, and while he is a love interest for Clementine, that isn’t his only purpose.
I know everyone’s different, they express their love for characters in their own ways, but I do have a genuine question: do you guys actually like Minerva?
Believe it or not, I’m not trying to step on toes or make everyone feel defensive which I know is how people will react to this. “You’re just saying all of this to make us feel bad for shipping clemerva! You don’t even like Minnie so you don’t get to say shit!” yeah yeah, I hear you and look, it’s true that she’s not my favorite character. I know I’ve said I hate her in the past but upon reflection and throwing out fandom interpretations.... I don’t hate her. I get it now. She’s a great character study to dissect and analyze and I think she deserves more than what the writers and the fandom have given her.
And yeah, what I do hate is clemerva, and I’ve explained why. It’s not for me, it makes me uncomfortable, but at the end of the day, who cares? Me not liking it doesn’t mean anything to those who create AU’s for them. They have their reasons, they can do as they please as long as they’re not hurting anyone. I’m just here pointing out things I see and things that bother me in hopes of starting a discussion.
There’s my ramble about Minerva. I’m gonna go make some tea now.

The Asakura Twins Loving the Same Person Headcannons
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-You grew up with Yoh, you come from a powerful line of Shamans and since you were both the same age your families thought it would be good for you to be his protector from Hao.
-That plan was a failure since both of you were equally lazy and only enjoyed the simple things in life like music and food.
-You were the two little kids that made the promise to marry each other when you were older and his parents openly called you a couple until Yoh met Anna.
-With Anna’s strict training you both became surprisingly strong Shamans but you left about three years before the official Shaman tournament.
-While you were traveling and enhancing your powers you met Hao. Though the whole meeting left you heartbroken and alone something about you made him want you more. The tearless enraged (e/c) orbs that complimented your blood stained face made him fall head over heels for you.
-Though with what little energy you had left you escaped him easily but he never could find you again.
-Neither of them see you again until during the Shaman Fights and Yoh absolutely tackles the hell out of you.
-“(Y/n)! You’re here I can’t believe it! Well of course I can believe it this is you we’re talking about but (Y/n)!”, Yoh screams hugging you tight.
-You’re both babbling away at each other like Nala and Simba were when they reunited and everyone is quick to notice the huge smile that drew over Yoh’s face as you spoke to him and embraced him.
-When you all have your encounter with Hao in Patch Village, Yoh is immediately protective of you stepping between you and Hao since he dared to walk up to you.
-That’s when everyone finds out you already know who Hao is since you’ve shared a fight with him.
-He killed your Mother and in return your left him a noticeable scar against the side of his neck, He’s been tracking you down ever since.
-Hao loves you because you’re strong, you don’t fear him, you hate him. He wants to keep you all to himself and since he’s surprisingly good at flirting your forced to blush on several occasions.
-Hao changes when you’re around, he’s almost so convincingly calm and gentle that you wouldn’t be able to tell that he was a mass murderer.
-Hao becomes a constant bother to you until you start getting used to his presence but you’d never tell him you enjoy having him around since he is still evil.
-“Such a pretty shade of red, did I make your heart race?”, Hao will ask cupping your cheek tenderly as he admires your red glow.
-You’ll slap his hand away and scoot closer to Yoh who will grin and stick his tongue out at his older brother.
-Each fight they’ll hope to hear or see you in the stands rooting for them, showing off just to impress you.
-Likewise they both do the same for you, Hao watches from afar but when you win he’ll make his Spirit of Fire create small heart shaped flames in front of you to show that he was watching. Yoh jumps from his spot in the stands and raced to hug you and congratulate you on a job well done.
-One night just before the pre-finals start both brothers find you and have something important to ask of you. Hao is much more calm and collected a soft smile on his face as he nervously plays with the ends of his hair. Yoh on the other hand, is a blushing mess nervously playing with his fingers as he calls out your name.
-“(Y-y/n)...I-I...”
-“(Y/n), we love you but we understand you can only love one of us back. Please choose who you want to care for your heart.”, Hao spoke with so much confidence on the matter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Yoh’s Route*
-You smiled at their sudden confession but since childhood you knew that Yoh was the only one for you.
-“Hao I’m sorry but I don’t love you. I’ve loved Yoh for so long now but he had Anna so I never tried confessing to him.”, you admitted softly watching Yoh’s face explode into a blush.
-Hao was deeply upset by your decision, but he respected you enough to leave it as it was. Now he could focus on destroying you and becoming shaman king without hesitation.
-Yoh was so excited that you had accepted his feelings that he lunged into your arms and placed a sweet kiss to your lips
-“Heehee I’m so glad you feel the same. I love you (Y/n).”, Yoh cheers in a soft voice pecking your lips again just to be sure it wasn’t a dream.
-Somehow you snuck into Yoh’s room with the boys and everyone woke up the next day to see you balled up at Yoh’s side, the goofiest grin plastered over his face.
-Horohoro was quick to notice the small love bite on the side of his neck neck and snickered, seems like you were the dominant and possessive one in the relationship.
-Anna is a bit heartbroken at first but you promised to still let her whip you and Yoh into shape if you ever slacked off to much.
-She accepted and in the end she got her dream of becoming Wife of the Shaman king since Hao had confessed his adoration for her about a month later, he won the shaman fights in the end so he did become king.
-You and Yoh were happy, a peaceful couple in a wild world surrounded by the people you loved.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Hao’s Route*
-You were left speechless by Hao’s blunt confession and it made you sad knowing that you had already made your choice.
-You flashed a sad smile to Yoh and hugged him much to his heart break but with a few simple words of encouragement he seemed okay being friend zoned, in the end it would be the best for both of you. He was happy with Anna by his side and you didn’t want to get between them when you knew they were meant for each other.
-Once you had pulled away from Yoh, Hao scooped you up in his arms and you both vanished. Having returned to his camp you stared at him in wonder to what he was going to do next.
-“To think that you would have actually grown to love me. I still can’t believe you actually do but I’m happy... absolutely happy. My little star.”, he hummed embracing tenderly as if you’d break if he held you to hard.
-You were nervous about your decision, thoughts overfilled your mind about how crazy you were for falling for your mother’s murderer, Hao could sense it so he washed away your insecurities with a soft peck to the cheek.
-“I’ll make sure you never regret your choice, even if I have to start from square one. I love you (Y/n), you don’t have to worry about anything by my side.”, He’ll whisper in your ears hugging you tight.
-Unsurprisingly he’s very touched starve so he’s always seeking you out for physical affection, be it a kiss or just holding your hand.
-Super romantic, you do have to keep him under control since he’s a bit protective and possessive but with a good scold you’re able to get him to respect your personal space and consider your feelings towards his behavior.
-Openly marks you with love bites and hickies even if you complain about them being to dark or to visible to others.
-You become his Shaman Queen *but only after making him promise to bring back everyone that he killed during the Shaman Fights since his new powers granted him that ability* and he loves you deeply with each passing day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Self Route*
-You were shocked having been confessed to by the twins, you did love them but not like they loved you.
-You smiled at both of them and hugged them tight before stepping back and explaining that to them.
-It hurt, it was obvious by their expressions but you didn’t need a partner by your side at least not now.
-Yoh respected that much about you, Hao was a bit petty about your decision but he just left you alone after that night.
-You fought alongside Yoh for the rest of the shaman fights and helped defeat Hao even though he took the crown of Shaman King.
-Life made sense due to your decision. With Hao being a god it was rare to see him but as years went by you and Yoh and quickly outgrown him and you made fun of him for it every time you saw him.
-You own an orange cat and named him Hao Jr.
-You’re the first to hold little Hana Asakura once he’s born since Yoh had fainted during the birthing process, Anna literally only trusts you with her baby.
-Your the crazy aunt that carries little Hana around in a baby chest carrier, both of you wearing black shades as you walk around flexing that you are the proud aunt of a handsome little orange boy!
-Yoh is super happy to find out that you end up engaged to Horohoro but does give him the talk about cherishing you and killing you if he hurts you.
-Yoh and Hao become your honorary brothers and they don’t let anyone mess with you even if you’re old enough to protect yourself.

Awful Characters Round 4 (1/4)
She's such a bitch to everyone all the time, she causes nothing but problems, she tries to do a villain speech but fumbles it because her tummy hurt, she is the awfulgirl of all time
ANAKIN SKYWALKER
-war criminal -murdered a bunch of toddlers like five seconds after turning to the dark side -exploded his daughters home planet that one time -murdered an entire village bc some of them killed his mom (and not just the men, but the women and the children, too) -choked out his pregnant wife and sent her into early labor -murdered a bunch of jedi -had a really dumb braid at one point -tried to kill obi-wan (his mentor, brother, friend, guardian, and basically the most important person in his life) -failed to kill obi-wan and got his shit fucked up so badly that he became basically a walking iron lung, if iron lungs were an ill-timed sneeze away from killing you -went back for MORE a decade after obi-wan beat his ass just to be a dick. like he dragged the poor fucker's face through fire just to be an asshole -annoying

Little Witch - Part 23
The Darkling x Reader
Aleksander walked into the dungeons not long after you, Zoya briefing him as you stood over the man who had caused a ruckus in your Palace. You were getting tired of his lies and fibs, basically begging to force the information out of his yourself but alas Ivan had some morals, telling you that the truth would come out of him in due time without the need for torture. Pity.
'I've been swindled, hoodwinked' he cried and you huffed, retreating to Zoya's side in annoyance. This man had some nerve lying in a room with 2 Heartrenderers.
'My guards tell me that they caught you fleeing the scene of the crime.'
'Yes, I followed them.'
'Followed whom?'
'They come from the other side of the Fold. From the start, they seemed, just, a bit off to me...-' You banged the back of your head against the wall in frustration, your patience wafer-thin. Zoya too looked done with the situation. Her jaw ticking in a telltale sign of annoyance.. '-So I ran.'
'How much of that is true?'
'He did cross the Fold with the others-' Ivan started but you cut in to finish.'-the rest were lies.'
You watched as Aleksander and Ivan entertained the man but your nerve had snapped for these theatrics. You needed to get the information and act on it, not make a spectacle. The man was already practically dead so why was he even trying to cover up his true identity?
Aleksander pulled up his sleeve and the tally on his arm was visible from your place at the wall. Countless journeys through the Fold burned into his skin in line form, a tradition used in all of Ravka by members of the public and First-Army.
'That is certainly entertaining. You are the Conductor, Arken Visser, are you not? You smuggle Grisha out of my palace! You help them abandon the war effort.' You were getting tired now, Aleksander had always played with his prey but this was dragging on and you had a growing list of urgent things to do: a dead Inferni to tend to, a missing sun-summoner to find, and a royal proposal.
You sighed loudly again, starting a slow pace around the dimly lit dungeon. To Arken you looked intimidating, his terrified eyes followed your steps around him, but all you were doing was keeping your boredom at bay.
'No. I deal in legal indentures. I don’t mess with Grisha.'
'Lie' both you and Ivan mused.
'I don't need them to tell me'
'Saints, hurry this up' You muttered under your breath as you rounded around to Zoya again. Being the good soldier she is, she ignored you. Your ears perked up and actually started listening as the trembling man confessed his ties with Zlatan, only then did your petty behavior pause momentarily.
'You put on a disguise. And you played at being assassin'
'That’s right.' You smiled at his concrete confession, having enough evidence now to use and to kill him. You thought back to the Inferni in the chapel as Arkin mentioned the Ketterdam thieves, did they do that too?
Aleksander turned his head to the side toward Zoya signaling for her to leave. You looked to Ivan and nodded in her direction, instantly assuming you were to stay. Ivan looked less than happy but obliged.
'And the dead Inferni in the chapel? Was that part of the thieves' plan?' You spoke up.
Arkin looked up at you with wide eyes 'That was not me, I swear. I can't be sure it was them either' You scoffed as his heartbeat remained steady indicating no lies. Great, I don't even have the murderer. Aleksander walked away from him, throwing a glance your way as he walked away too. You didn't need to be told what to do, you just did what you yearned to do the second you laid your eyes on the Conductor.
'Tell me how I can help' He shouted as you took a step back creating a distance.
'You already have.' Aleksander's voice echoed in the halls. You raised your hand with elegance and looked into the man's eyes one last time before his demise. Shadows pooled around your feet and fire enthralled the clothes on his back. The vein in his neck grew prominent as your other hand clenched into a fist. His shouts and screams were silent in your ears, a skill you had managed to master years ago to preserve your sanity.
'You don't mess with Grisha, Arkin.'
*****
Hours had passed and the work never stopped. Sleep was long forgotten that night. Aleksander was beside himself too, the search for Alina and the Stag weighed on him heavily, and now with the added search for Nina Zenik he hadn't slept a minute too. You needed to tell him about the Queen, as minutes ticked you cursed your cowardliness and fear. You were scared to tell him. You admitted it, but that fear was nothing in comparison to dread bubbling inside of you on how he would react.
Your steps were slow and lazy, the winter fete gown still on your body. There was a burn on the bottom of it from Polin, the twin sister of the dead Inferni. Upon telling the woman her brother was dead, her grief overcame her and momentarily had a mind of its own. You told her it was okay, but the smell of smoke still loomed around you like a reminder of the night.
Your frame was now in direct line of vision of the open door of Aleksander's study. Fedyor stood in the center of the room, his red kefta eerily similar to the roaring fire. You hesitated to walk in, but your feet dragged you in any way. Compared to Aleksander who'd been in the same predicament as you, you looked chaotic. Your once gorgeous gown was now dirty and burned gown, your hair falling down your shoulders in a tangled mess and the undereye bags contending with Aleksander's kefta. You looked like you'd been to hell and back. So when Fedyor cast a worried look at you on his way out, you simply shrugged and sat down in the chair, shoulder slacking and eyes drooping.
'I'm leading a team to search for the criminals at sundown, care to join?' He closed the doors and walked to a teapot, pouring a mug and handing it to you with a gentle kiss on your head. A sweet gesture but not sweet enough to push your worries aside.
'Aleksander sit down' It came out in a clipped tone and surprised him.
'What?
'Sit down' You waved your hand and the gust of wind pulled out the chair opposite you. Waiting until he sat down, you took your sip of the hot liquid. His body settled into the chair then his eyes studied your face too closely for your liking so you cleared your throat and turned your head away from him, suddenly feeling shy.
'I spoke with the Queen.'
'And?' He was alert and upright, leaning closer to you in an abrupt second. You blew out a breath and choked down the lump in your throat. You were most certainly not going to cry. You started ranting, letting your words run free and take over the panic in your mind.
'Ummmm, well it's definitely not what you think. It wasn't what I thought anyway. I thought maybe she would ask me to be her advisor or something I don't know bu-'
'Y/N what did she say?' He was growing impatient.
'She wants me to marry the Prince. Not just her, the King too.' You set down the hot mug and smoothed out the disaster of a dress on your lap. Your lips pulled down into a frown but you willed yourself not to cry. Don't cry.
'.....what?' His eyes were wide now, you could see his jaw clench.
'It didn't feel like a question. I think she has something on me.' You had been trying to push that thought away as hard as you could but you felt safe telling Aleksander. 'She didn't explicitly say it, but her words weren't kind or gentle. It wasn't a proposal. It felt like a 'do this or else' kind of situation' You played with the handle of the mug to distract yourself from his gaze and your urge to let the waterworks flow.
'I don't know what to do.' As if the burning in your throat wasn't enough, your steady voice cracked toward the end of that sentence, letting the first tear drip from your eye. You let go of the mug and crossed your arms against the table surface.
He didn't say anything just sat back in the chair, letting a hand through the softness of his black hair. Somewhere deep down you felt relief- relief that he wasn't jumping at the opportunity to marry you off.
'Are you sure? What would it be?'
'I can't be sure but I'm being careful. There's only one thing it can be' You let your head fall into your folded arms, shielding away from him in case the sobs you were holding back burst out of your seams. There was only ever one thing you had done that could be used against you and to this day it haunted your nightmares. The gruesomeness of it keeping you up at night.
'Did you give her an answer?'
'No.' The table shook as his fist came down on it harshly after a brief and stealthy silence.
'You're not doing it. No way' You heard his chair move back and his boots walk toward you. His hands came to pick your arms up off the table and haul you up to his height. All his attention was fixed on you. 'Did you hear me? No. I mean it. Don't do that to yourself.'
'It didn't seem like a choice Aleksander'
'Then make it one. Over my dead body are they going to take that away from you' His grip on your arms tightened as he spoke those words and you had no shadow of a doubt he meant them. You had your ups and downs together, but Aleksander rarely ever lied about things like this.
'You don't belong with them, you belong here in the Little Palace and you're not leaving again' His gaze was hot and intense, the anger and rage from the night building up and boiling over.
In that moment, Aleksander had snapped. The Crown was taking you away from him, just like they had done with Luda and countless others. He swore to protect you all those years ago and he was finally going to do right by you.
'I'm not letting that sobachka take you away from me.'

Final Fantasy 7 prompts #75 (FINAL LIST)
1. Iflana does not trust Cloud, not one bit. She can sense the calamity inside him and wants him to leave. Too bad both her husband and daughter seem enraptured by his very existence. Her husband rambling on about his mutated and 'safer' J-cells, as if that thing could ever be considered safe. Then it was her daughter, who seemed to take him in, as though he was no more than an injured bird needing treatment.
This thing would be the death of them. She just knew it.
2. "In my world its pretty rare for monsters to talk."
The large gray rabbit riding on his head paused to consider this, "Maybe they're just stupid?"
"Duh. They're basically wild animals. They're not really like you Loppy."
"Lopmon." The bunny creature corrected. Again.
Aka Cloud wakes up in the digital world as a twelve year old and has to find his friends...with the help of his partner digimon of course.
3. Genesis used to think mermaids were one of the most beautiful creatures in Ancient lore...until he saw a blond one swallow a fish whole. He wasn't so sure after that.
4. Au where Cloud and the remnants are escaped expiraments from a non-Shinra lab. They travel to Midgar and become mercenaries.
One of them winds up being captured, prompting the other three to rescue them, but they're otherwise preoccupied by normal human things they never got to experience. Loz loves donuts and other sweets, Yazoo adores taking long hot bathes, and Kadaj always seems to have headphones on, etc.
The holy trinity are shocked when the four don't recognize Sephiroth. Genesis also nearly has a heart attack when he catches them roasting a doomrat over an open flame. "You're not actually going to eat that, are you?"
5. Hojos alarm was triggered at three in the morning. Usually this wouldn't be an issue, creatures attempted to escape Shinras (and by extention his) clutches on a regular basis. They were usually recaptured or destroyed within the hour.
What was strange was the fact that this was Jenovas alarm. His goddess tended to not move much beyond bobbing up and down in her tank.
Upon checking the security feed, he witnessed something infuriating. A blond man was holding an armful of wildflowers and bossing around three silver haired teens as they dismantled her shrine and stole her away. Jenova herself seemed...interested? Approving? He wasn't sure, but it looked like she was cooing at them. Further analysis was required.
6. Time travel au, but the whole thing is from Hojos perspective and he suffers
7. Cloud and Reeve were having a discussion about Clouds Jenova abilities and why he never used them, which eventually lead Cloud to picking up a pebble and stating, "Its not like a can just force some of my life energy into a rock and make it a planet"
And then he did. Tfw
8. High fantasy, no materia au.
Magic is rarely seen in humans, rather a tool used by monsters. On the day Clouds mother is murdered his abilities awaken, creating a powerful snowstorm that ripped the town of Nebilhiem apart.
Ten years later and the storm rages on, having grown to cover nearly the entirety of the mountain, rendering communication with nearby kingdoms difficult and travel impossible.
The famed General Rhapsodous is sent to slay whatever great beast is causing this catastrophe. When he is faced with a young man living up there in complete isolation, he chooses to stay with the mysterious man until he can locate the monster.
What will become of Cloud once Genesis discovers the truth? After all, a witch is considered a form of monster.
9. "I should have just remained a puppet!"
Genesis mulled over the words as though they alone could unravel the mystery that is Strife.
Some part of the redhead felt a little bad about using the strange man's emotional outburst against him, but things were getting desperate...
10. Time traveler au where Genesis dresses in drag to save this "Tifa" girl from the Don. He then tries to get her to go to Shinra for questioning and is punched for his efforts
11. Cloud is thrown into a world where he never existed and Shinra still reigns supreme. Worse, he has no memory of who he is or how he got there (cause Jenova destroyed them). He only has his bike and his sword and begins traveling to find a purpose, all while avoiding Shinras detection.
He often stops at inns and rest stops and often sees the same group of people. The large man with a gun arm grew suspicious from seeing him everywhere they went.
___________________________
"Go away."
The knocking came again. "I know you're in there blondie." A gruff voice replied.
"I'm not gay."
The man on the other side of the door began sputtering. "Look," another voice began, "We just need to talk."
"Yeah. Sure. Talk." He said flatly. "In the middle of the night." He went over to the door anyway. Opening it revealed the man with a gun arm and another man with wild black hair.
"Zack?" The blond blurted, startled. What was one of Shinras Supreme doing out here?!
"You remember me!" The man beamed, "SOLDIER First Class Zack Fair, at your service! Now the real question!"
The man leaned down a bit to the mysterious blonds level, "Who are you?"
12. "Can you do it?" The softness of Denzels voice seemed to make the situation all the more horrifying. "Can you kill me?" Eerie mako green eyes stared up at where Cloud stood frozen.
Denzel pulled a knife from the block, "Or will your son kill you?"
Aka Seph plays mind games by possessing the kids from Advent Children and using them to torment Cloud and make him look like a lunatic
13. Cloud gets sent back in time/ alternate reality, ect. but gets turned into a white materia. He's careful not to roll around while people are looking, but that doesn't stop people from saying, "Hey, look! A materia! " and picking him up. He has no real power...other than apparently soothing anyone/anything he comes into contact with.
Strangely, he keeps getting slotted into bracers (among other things) regularly. Ya'll, he's so annoyed.
14. There were two of him. Two Sephiroths. The blond began regulating his breathing, desperately trying to ward off an ensuing panic attack. He wouldn't stand a chance if they decided to work together.
Luckily, one insulted the other and thus a catfight of epic proportions began, all while Cloud had a panic attack in some long forgotten closet.
15. Au where child Sephiroth overhears a scientist talking about her 'prayers being answered' and he asks her what that meant. After a brief explanation, he later prays to anyone who can hear him to get him out of the labs and/or away from Hojo.
It works.
Bonus: Cloud and Sephiroth were fighting again in the Midgar desert when Sephiroth slashed the air, creating a portal. He had intended to use it to appear behind his puppet and impale him again, but the blond rushed forward and slashed through the portal with his own sword, expecting the portal to disappear as he sailed through were it once was.
Unfortunately, it was still very much there. Just...different. Cloud wasn't given the chance to properly examine it before the feeling of being plunged into ice water overwhelmed him and he was spat out on the other side.
It was another desert, but not like the one he left. He could feel no life here. No plants, no animals, no...no lifestream. The only thing around is another version of him. One that was used and abandoned by the Sephiroth of this world.
The other blond stared at him in confusion, wielding twin sabers in a defensive position.

Mr. Protector Man
There were only a few weeks left of your summer before you returned for Hogwarts for the final time, at least as a student. Your years at Hogwarts had been filled with twists thanks to the appearance of one Harry Potter, but you really couldn’t complain. In fact, you were quite grateful for his appearance. With someone with a more famous name than yours, you could finally move out of the spotlight and into something that you could call confidence. Not that you were not a confident person, but the constant reminder that your father was a murderer didn’t help in the whole “making friends” part of your life. Luckily, a pair of twins made their way into your life, and you could never explain how eternally grateful you were for their presence.
In your fifth year, however, the attention turned back to you when your father escaped Azkaban. It would have been terrible for you, had you not had Fred and George constantly reminding you of how incredible you were. Overtime, however, you grew more comfortable with the knowledge that your father was free, and when Remus met with you to tell you all that he had learned, you were ecstatic. Finally, you could say that your father was worth the love that you had stored away for him.
Your sixth year also brought about changes to your personality. You found that your confidence grew since people were no longer talking about you and your father. To say that you were grateful Harry was placed in the tournament was selfish, but you were happy to know that you could live your life without being put on trial for everything that you said and did because of your last name. Throughout that year, you were able to send a couple of letters to Sirius that were filled with your life story. He was thankful that you grew up to be happy and didn’t suffer at the hands of muggles like Harry did. All he ever wanted for you was for you to be happy, so when the summer came around, he was stuck at Grimmauld Place, you jumped at the opportunity to finally be with your dad. There were people, those that will not be mentioned, who thought that this was a terrible idea, but Remus suggested that this would be a good opportunity for the both of you.
When you finally moved in, you were nervous to be around the man who was never there to raise you. There was a part of you that resented him, but you understood the circumstances and swallowed your pride. When he saw you for the first time, he practically burst into tears, and you didn’t hesitate to launch yourself into your arms. You were both filled with joy at the thought of finally being able to become a sort of dysfunctional family. The rest of the day was filled with tears and laughter as he told you about his school days and you told him about yours. When Remus came to visit the happy family, he was shocked by how quickly you two got along. He thought there would be some awkwardness, but instead it felt as if the two of you had been together the whole time. He was delighted to see one of his oldest friends return to the world of the happy and see his smile be genuine.
When the Weasley family joined what felt like a party of two, you were even more excited than before, although you were slightly disappointed at the loss of time that was going to be spent with your father. Your routine had changed to accommodate the gingers, but worst of all, you had to keep things under control with George. Sirius was aware that you were seeing someone, but he chose not to think too much into it. It wasn’t until he found the two of you cuddled up on the couch that he realized that your boyfriend was sleeping in the room right beside yours. Now, cue the protective father instinct, and you find Padfoot sleeping in the hallway between the two doors most nights. The problem with this logic was that Sirius was a deep sleeper, and so long as you didn’t step on the poor dog, you could get away with just about anything. You easily tiptoed across his sleeping body to find your boyfriend. George was worried about making this move, so he often let you do it to avoid him losing his life.
With only a few days left, you found that you were beginning to worry about what school would be like when you got back. There were rumors spreading and false information making its way into headlines. Both you and Harry were at risk to some bad treatment from the school, but you just remembered all of the stories Sirius told you about his time at Hogwarts and tried to channel his cool energy. Sirius could sense your change in demeanor, but he chose not to question it. He even looked to George to see if he noticed it as well, and he was pleasantly surprised to see that your attentive boyfriend was indeed acknowledging these small changes. They both wrote it off as some before school jitters, but Sirius and George were still worried about you.
Now, fast forward to meeting the pink toad. Everything in your body ached at the sound of her shrill voice. More than anything, you wanted to throw something at her in hopes of finally shutting her up. It wasn’t until your first class with her, that you really began to feel hatred bubble up inside of you. You were aware of how she mistreated others, especially Harry, so you tried to stay off her radar. Sadly, she was very aware of who you were and reminded you of it every chance she got.
“Miss Black, please put away your wand.” You grimaced at her voice but maneuvered your wand away from the view of the wretched woman. You sighed and started writing down the useless information from the book. Everything that was written down and published was nearly a lie. You put your head in your hand and continued to sketch down those ideas of what a useless institution called “defense against the dark arts.” How was this even true? You lived with Remus and for a while with your father. Both people taught you defense knowing that your last name would be troublesome. This information was vital to your life, but this class was killing you slowly.
“Ahem,” her voice made you want to shove the quill into your ears. “Miss Black, sit up straight and show some respect. It seems that you cannot act like a lady in this class. I will see you in detention tonight. Maybe then you will learn how not to act like the daughter of a murderer.” You scoffed, but you remained quiet. You thought back to your last talk you had with Sirius.
“You know, there are still going to be people who will say things about me.” You sighed at your father.
“Of course I know. I know the truth though, and for now that’s all that matters.” Sirius smiled at your commentary, but  he knew that words about your family can hurt, especially when they are pointed at you. He was someone who was unaware of the comments that can be made. He was worried before you were born that his name would be troublesome, but there was never a time that he believed that it would be his own fault.
“I need you to understand that it is not your duty to defend me. The world will not believe the truth, especially given these times. They don’t believe Harry or Dumbledore, which means that they are not going to believe you. Please, promise me that you will take care of yourself first.” You reluctantly nodded your head.
“Fine, but I’m not going to be happy about it. I hate being a reflection of a lie.” You wanted the rest of the wizarding world to know what an amazing man your father was. You wanted to be seen as more than the daughter of someone who murdered his friends without a second thought. You gave your father a hug and murmured a promise to him that you meant to keep.
As you stand before the door that led to the devil, you questioned why you would make a promise that constituted you to put yourself in danger and to lose all that you had worked so hard to maintain in your life. Your night was spent with a throbbing, bloody hand, and a single tear that was not for the physical pain, but the emotional loss you acquired by allowing this witch to have an impact.
The following weeks, you met with the toad in detention. Most of the time, they were small offenses that typically would go unnoticed by other professors. You kept your word to your father the entire time, despite the physical and emotional turmoil of these events. The word “insubordinate” stained your hand and was a constant reminder of how you felt. You felt useless and worthless. This didn’t go unnoticed. George saw this change in your behavior. Your smile was forced, and your eyes were red with tears that he was certain met only your pillow. He knew that he had to take action. He felt terrible for doing something before, but he never knew how bad it was until he saw you that one night in the hallway.
You sat down on the ground and let your back trace the freezing bricks. You took your hand and wrapped it in a bandage, something you knew to bring with you now. You placed the wrapped hand against the wall, as a way to numb the stinging. You didn’t let any tears fall. Instead, you stared ahead of you and drowned out any noises. That was how George found you. He walked over to you and sat down beside you. No words were shared in this exchange. He didn’t know what to say or do to help, so he stayed by your side in silence, hoping that you would say something.
“I’m sorry that you have to see me like this. I will head back up to my dorm and get some sleep. You should too.” You stood up and placed a chaste kiss on cheek and walked briskly to your dorm. George watched your retreating form and realized that he failed to protect you like he wished he could. He made a promise to himself that he would not allow anything else to happen to you.
You were sitting in the great hall when George appeared beside you. He pulled you into his body and kept his arm over your shoulder. You forced another smile and tried not to get emotional. It felt strange to be held like you were so important to someone. George didn’t let you go for a while. Then you both made your way to the classroom that was known to bring pain and grief to many of the students. You sat down and tried to keep your cool. No matter how hard you tried to not cause any trouble, the woman always found a way to bring attention to you in a negative light.
“Miss Black, you should know by now that I am not a fan of your attitude, but this is unacceptable.” You weren’t even sure what she was lecturing you about. Honestly, you couldn’t care less what the issue was.
“Professor, I think you should be respectful of this girl. She has done nothing wrong. You just don’t like her because you don’t like her last name. You should mind your tongue.” Those harsh and direct words came from the mouth of the one person who would always have your back.
“Mr. Weasley, I will see both you and Miss Black in detention. Now, sit down and do your work.” George scoffed and walked over to where you were sitting.
“I don’t think so. This class is over for today as far as I’m concerned.” His act of defiance came to a close with you being led out by him with a shocked look on the woman’s face.
“George. George, stop it right now. We can’t just walk out of class. We are going to get into more trouble.” As you two continued down the hall he stopped abruptly.
“No Y/N. I am not going to stop. You’re the one who needs to stop lying to me. You can’t keep letting her have an effect on you. We both know that you are so much more than the reputation that comes with your name. She’s just jealous that you are more famous and pure than she ever will be. She’s a disgrace to the world. Not your dad, and most certainly not you.” His words brought the tears back. His love for you was unbelievably pure and unconditional.
As George watched you fall apart in front of him, he held you. You clung to him as if he was going to disappear if you let go. You both stood in the middle of this empty hallway without a care in the world. Neither of you were aware of how much time was spent there. Your tears started to dry, and your hiccups eventually dissipated, much to your appreciation. You two only became aware of your surroundings when the sound of footsteps echoed.
“Mr. Weasley, Miss Black. Why aren’t you in class?” You turned your head in the direction of Professor Mcgonagall. As she saw your tear stained expression, her face dropped. She assumed what the issue was. Throughout your years at Hogwarts, she saw a lot of Sirius in you. You reminded her of the chaos your father and his friends brought to school, but you also reflected his kindness and sincerity. There had always been some dissonance between you and some of the professors, but she had always had a soft spot for you. With the terror of the woman in pink, she could only assume that you and Harry were getting the brunt of it. The Weasley twins as well, but she suspected that they were intentional in their actions.
“Sorry professor, but I couldn’t sit there and listen to her talk to Y/N like that any longer.”
“Please professor, it was my fault. Don’t let George get in any trouble for protecting me.” You couldn’t handle knowing that you were the reason George was in trouble two times in the span of an hour with two different professors.
“Did you two receive detention from her?” You both nodded. “Well, I will make sure that it is spent with me instead. Now, I don’t expect you to return to that class, but please try to be punctual to the others. Oh, and Miss Black, don’t let her words get to you. We both know the truth.” She offered you a smile and assured you both that she would see you in her office for detention, which you both know would not be a real detention.
That night, you sat by George and talked. For the first time in too long, the two of you discussed how you were feeling.
“Y/N you know that your name is not a representation of you. Her words are nothing more than a  jealous filled disgust. She holds the opinion of the ministry who refuses to acknowledge the truth of our times. But I need you to come to me if she ever says or does anything to you when I am not around. I will always do what I can to be there for you because you are worth the world.” You shifted to move closer to his body, and you nodded. You were grateful to him for being there as your voice when you couldn’t be there for yourself.
“Thank you Georgie for being there for me. I love you so much.” He chuckled quietly.
“I love you too, but this wasn’t a one time thing. I am here to be your hero, which I have already proved to be earlier, if I might add. You and I are going to do this together, and I’m not going to let her hurt you anytime soon. I will, however, be working with Fred to get some revenge going. You are welcome to join me, but you can’t be out in the field with us. I’m not going to let you get caught, and get into more trouble. Understood?”
“Yes George, I understand.” You giggled. “Mr. Protector Man.”
“That was all you came up with? I’m ashamed.” He laughed, and you joined in.
“Give me time, I’ll come up with something better eventually.”
When you returned to Grimmauld Place for the holidays, you were ecstatic. Your dad was just as happy to see you, especially to spend the holidays with you for the first time since you were an infant. Sirius was also aware that he owed a lot to your boyfriend. George had sent a letter to his mother that included an additional note for Sirius. He wrote about the issues that you were dealing with due to the pink witch, and how you did everything you could to uphold your promise to him, despite the physical pain you endured. Sirius was proud of you for being strong, but he felt guilty knowing how hurt you were because of him again.
“Y/N, come here. I think we should talk.” You walked over to your dad and sat down beside him. “I know you made a promise to me earlier on, but I hope that we can acknowledge that this woman is not worth your time and energy. I know, because you're a lot like me, that you want to tell her off, and I think maybe you should. I just need you to be careful about it, because I don’t want you getting hurt anymore.” You nodded and thought about all that you wanted to say to her. You always bit your tongue, but you also thought that maybe it was a blessing in disguise that you never told her off. George knew exactly what to do and say to avoid you getting into any more trouble, but you knew that if you spoke your mind, then you probably would get into more serious trouble.
“Thank you, but I think I’ll keep silent a little longer. Plus, I’ve been helping Fred and George with their pranks, so I think that is enough for now.” Sirius’ face lit up knowing that you pranked the toad. That is exactly what he and James would have done.
“So, this George guy,” Sirius began with a smirk on his face, “I approve of him. He’s a good one, and I’m happy he’s with you.” You smiled at your dad.
“Me too. He really is the best.”
“I think him and I need to have a word though.” You sighed at him and gave him a knowing look. “It won’t be anything bad, entirely.” You laughed and stood up and patted him on the back jokingly.
George appeared in the doorway and made his way over to your father. You left the two of them alone, knowing that their conversation was going to be a good one.
After a long while, longer than you expected, George reappeared.
“So, what did you two talk about?” You urged, pointing a finger at his chest.
“You know, a little of this, a little of that. He just wants to know that you’re happy and that I am doing my job. Protecting you of course, and he offered a nice little threat that I should never even think about hurting you because then he would willingly find himself back in Azkaban.” You gasped playfully, knowing that your father would never actually hurt him, and that George could never hurt you either.
“Well, the ministry thinks he is a murderer, so who knows what he might do.”
“I am your own personal Mr. Protector Man, so I don't think that he is going to be able to touch me.” You both laughed at his comment.
“I thought you hated that name. You told me you were ashamed.”
“It’s growing on me. I love you Miss Black, surname and all.”
“I love you too Mr. Weasley, but I think I like Mr. Protector Man a bit more.” You giggled and rested your head on his chest.

‘I saw you and Fred just now.’
The words echoed through your head, trying to gauge what George could have possibly meant by his words. Fred must know, he must have some inclination as to what had set George over the edge so quickly. You were confused, George had refused to tell you what he saw. You knew that you hadn’t slept with Fred, hell you’d hardly spoken more than a few words to each other in at least a week. But now, you were walking up the concrete steps to the first floor flat, tapping softly on the pale yellow door. It swung open slowly, the whine of the hinges echoing through the stone stairwell, you were greeted by the tall, dishevelled man, he didn’t speak, choosing only to stare back at you blankly.
“Look Fred I don’t know what the fuck is going on with George, he says he saw us together but I was at practice and-” He still stared back at you with absolutely nothing behind his eyes. Normally Fred would’ve at least looked away or cracked a smile or something, but a deadpan look washed over his face, his eyes burning into the back of yours with a stare so intense you felt like he was medusa and you were turning to stone.
It was only then that you noticed a perfectly manicured hand snake over Fred’s shoulder to his chest, the nails were a long, glossy red to match the name of the person whose hand it was. Cherry’s face came into view as her chin rested on the opposite shoulder of the man in front of her. Red lip gloss leaves its mark on Fred’s skin as she presses a sensual kiss to his ear as her sinister breath fans over his neck. “Come, Freddie, let her in so that the girls can talk, hm?”
Fred simply nods, moving to the side to allow you in, shutting the door behind you before walking over to the corner and just standing there. Your eyes following him as his expression still runs blank, like he was a shell of a human. “What have you done to him, Cherry.”
She laughs, smirk hanging off her lips, every word breath and sound that breached her mouth was dripping with malice and hatred. "Don't you worry your pretty head about that, he wanted this just as much as I do."
You cocked your head to the side, watching as Cherry pulls out her wand, you go to do the same but she quickly disarms you, leaving you helpless, vulnerable and open. Confusion washed over you more than anything. What could possibly be going so wrong that she needed to take it out on you, on Fred even. "You know, Y/N, Polyjuice potion is a fantastic thing, I just wish i could've seen George's face as he caught his twin brother fucking his girl right in front of him."
You finally understood. It wasn't you George had seen earlier tonight, It was Cherry. You finally got why George called you all of those horrible words, why he kicked you out, why he was so furious. Because you felt exactly the same, anger bubbling over like hot iron, the blood and rage reaching your eyes as you lurched forward. "You fucking bitch, I can't believe you'd do tha-"
Your airways closed, you couldn't talk, nor breathe as you clutched at your neck, dropping to your knees as you felt what air you had in your lungs leave. Cherry released the magical grasp she had on you, causing you to exhale a deep breath, trying desperately to fill your lungs again, completely doubled over as the terrible pain crippled your lungs. Cherry's hand grasped roughly onto your hair, forcing you to look up at her, as she squatted down in front of you. "Cat got your tongue?"
"Why…" you pleaded, looking up at her desperately as she pointed her wand at your throat, you wished Fred would intervene, stop her from what she was doing or at the very least speak up. "Why me? What do you hate so much about George and I being together?"
"It's not about your stupid fucking boyfriend," the wood pressed against your throat a ittle harder as she got angrier, taking a deep breath. "You're a Murderer."
With the same breath you were protesting the ghastly accusation. You wouldn't hurt a fly, your anger reserved only for the quidditch pitch and when George had been particularly frustrating, but never in your life would you have thought about killing someone. "What are you talking about I haven't killed anyo-"
She cut you off with a sharp slap across the face. Sneering at you as she spat back her response, you looked deep into her eyes, clouded with anger and fury. "You are a cold blooded killer, the moment I found out it was YOU who killed my sister, I knew I was going to ruin your life."
"Your sister? I didn't even know you had a sister, please this must be some sort of mistake." You were begging her as you stared at her with pleading eyes before hanging your head in sorrow, causing her to scoff and pull away from you. “You don’t even realise the damage you did to my family when you killed The Bishop.”
Your mind flashed back to the war, a green storm swirling in your head as you’re brought back, watching from the side-lines, a ghost of the future as you watch your body contort in hideous ways and finally hear the spine-stiffening screams for yourself. You replayed the image of Maria Bishop’s body flying through the air and collapsing on the floor in a loud thump over and over again. Shock hitting you again as you realise that you’d taken a life, a life that wasn’t yours to take.
In Cherry’s mind she is taken back to the moment she found her sister’s cold body, splayed out across a pile of broken bricks and rubble, still wearing the expression she had been caught in; mouth open and eyebrows furrowed. Aveline Bishop was the youngest of her bloodline, with a surname destined to die, her mother never able to bear a son to her husband - that destiny loomed over the family of pureblood death eaters, making The Bishop, her sister, all the more of an inspiration to her. So now as the young girl was staring into her sister’s lifeless eyes, no longer shining a bright blue, but instead a cold grey, Aveline knew that she would avenge her sister’s death, no matter the cost. Aveline’s fingertips ghosted gently over her sister’s eyelids to shut them, embodying the new person she set out to become - Cheryl Jackson.
“And now, your family will know the pain that you put mine through.” Cherry had her wand out, the cruciatus curse falling from her lips with such ease and you felt that same surge of pain again. Like a thousand knives against your skin, twisting and turning. Her laugh rang the same as her sister’s, enjoying the look of pure torture etched upon your face. With every tear that spilled from your cheeks the pain grew harsher, you found yourself calling out for someone, anyone to help, realising that your pleading turned to Fred’s name, as it was grated through screams.
“He won’t help you. He’s going to watch the girl he loves die in front of him.” Fred heard it all, every blood curdling scream and every sob. He was internally yelling as he tried to force his legs to move, to help you, to be there for you and stop the tears from falling. Every minute that passed by you grew weaker, the screams turning to low sobs as you felt yourself fall in and out of consciousness. You thought that maybe death would come as the sweet release from your pain. “Freddie, if you can hear me in there, You tell George forever, you tell him I love him with all my heart, I’m sorry I brought you both into this.”
Fred slowly felt his fingertips start to move, from him willing them to be moved. His love for you was breaking him free of the curse veiled over him. His fingertips were finally able to reach for his wand, using every ounce of strength within him to push himself to save you. He couldn’t just stand by and watch you die, not without giving it every fibre of strength he had inside him. It was like eerie silence to Fred’s ears as he blanked out the words he didn’t want to use but words he would use to protect anyone he loved. A brilliant flash of green left his wand as he aimed it right at Cherry’s back, the power of his spell obliterated the woman he once knew into dust, leaving you to collapse to the floor.
In that moment, all panic washed over Fred, he was too late, too late to save you. He was scooping your body into his arms, as tears pricked the back of his eyes, threatening to spill from his eyes. He didn’t check to see your small shallow breaths, taking your lifeless body as the only sign, a sign that he hadn’t done enough. He took you to the only place he could think of, apperating in with a pop, before yelling through choked back sobs. “GEORGE!”
George runs In to see you being carried by Fred, your body limp and your arm hanging down. Thinking the worst already, he scoops you into his arms, but as he moves you he notices the soft rise and fall of your chest and realises that you are alive - you may be weak, unconscious and in pain, but you’re alive.
Fred had sunk down to curl his legs up to his chest, making himself as small as possible as he realised that what he had done was utterly unforgivable. George looks at him and sees the same shell of who you had been after the war attempting to piece together what had happened. George no longer cared about his feelings or what he had seen earlier that day. He saw the unconscious body of the girl he loved and his twin sat on the floor shaking. He walked over to sit next to his brother, back pressed against the wall. “Freddie what happened?”
Fred looked up, seeing the pleading eyes of his brother. He took a moment to compose himself, using what small voice he could to try and choke out his words. “Cherry- I she used Polyjuice to pretend to be Y/N and when she showed up at my house, she brought her in, she… was torturing Y/N and she had me under imperious… I tried to save her, Georgie, I really did.” George’s eyebrow’s furrowed, as his brother took another deep breath. “I killed Cherry, trying to save Y/N, and I was too late.”
George pulled Fred into a hug. It was something that they hadn’t done, not in years, not like this. Not a hug that really mattered, that comforted each other. Fred immediately burst into tears again, the salty, wet tears soaking through George’s shirt, feeling vulnerable and numb in that moment. “She’s okay, Freddie, You did save her.”
You take a sharp breath as you wake up, finding it hard to breathe, like you’d been hit with a bludger to the chest. The sound causes the boys to snap their heads to the direction of the sofa. Your weak voice calls out for George and he is immediately by your side, pressing a gentle kiss and soothing your hand as he takes it into his. Whispering a thousand apologies to you as he presses kisses to your palm and back of your hand.
He sees that same fear behind your eyes that he had helped you heal once before and by the grace of god, he wouldn’t dare leave your side until he had seen you heal again. Watching as the fragile heart of the girl he loved whispered softly, pressing your fingers against his cheek “‘I love you, Forever, Georgie.”
“I’ll never let you down again. I promised to protect you and I couldn't even do that.” he hung his head in shame, you tilted his chin up to look into his eyes, while you shook your head at him. The small smile that clung to your lips through the pain and the fear was for him, to show him that it didn’t matter. George being with you in that moment was enough for you, because there was nothing to hide anymore.
“Your love is enough for me, George.”  his heart leapt at those words, watching as you pushed yourself up tentatively before slipping down onto the floor, your arms wrapped around him, begging to be held. The desire to be near him in that moment was satisfied when his hand stroked up and down your back, rubbing small circles. You pushed yourself up so that his lips could press softly against his, the kiss was like magic, with the ability to take you away from the pain, take you from the moment of sadness. He was your forever, for everyone to see. You no longer had to fake it.
