in front of a mirror (literal d word (dad) matty x reader fluff)
a little random fluffy moment for promptober day 18! just you and matty and your baby daughter getting ready in the hotel room. enjoy <3
Tumblr media
the fluffy pompom on your daughter's hat tickles your already-cold nose, as you walk quickly down the hotel corridor with her in your arms. you sneeze, and lyla jerks in what you think is fright at the sudden noise; you open your mouth to reassure and apologise, but she giggles before you can, that joyous little baby laugh that you think might be your favourite sound in the world.
"oh, you think it's funny when mummy sneezes?" you tease, tickling her little tummy to keep her laughing. "yeah, it is a funny noise, i suppose. but do you know what you're meant to do when someone sneezes in front of you? you say 'bless you'. can you try that for me, munchkin? bless you."
lyla's little face screws up in concentration, an expression she's doubtless inherited from you. "eh ooh."
"oh, my clever girl! well done," you coo, kissing her little rosy cheek as you unlock the door to your suite. "you're so smart, munchkin! you definitely get that from me and not daddy. but don't tell daddy that, alright?"
"tell me what?" matty's voice echoes from somewhere in the suite. lyla makes grabby hands at the sound - again, your genetics.
"that we got babycinos with auntie carly," you reply, pulling off lyla's jacket and hat, then smoothing down her hair as you wander through the living area towards your fiancé's voice. you find him in the dressing room outside the bedroom, sat at the mirror with one of the band's stylists fixing his hair. "hiya! hi, baby. you look good. almost done?"
the stylist answers in the affirmative. matty's face lights up at the sight of you and lyla; it always does, but you don't think you'll ever get over how adorably happy he gets. "hi, my beautiful girls," he says softly. "have you had a nice morning? c'mere, munchkin, tell me all about it."
you pass lyla to matty - giving him a quick kiss as you do - before shrugging your coat off and sitting down beside them. lyla snuggles into her dad's chest, big eyes blinking tiredly as he softly strokes her head. they're so cute in their respective sweatshirts that you could cry just from how much you love them.
matty caresses your daughter's tiny cheek. "is somebody sleepy?"
despite her eyes growing heavier by the second, lyla musters up all the energy she has left to shake her head in vehement denial. all three of the grown-ups in the room laugh at her little curls bouncing, and she grins cheekily.
"i think you might be, baba," matty smiles. "maybe time for a little disco nap before you come out with me and mummy later, yeah?"
you snort. "a disco nap?"
"what? that's exactly what it is."
"fair, fair," you say, resting your head on the tabletop. "could do with one myself, actually. or at least a minute where i sit and do nothing. but it's alright," you stretch. "i should probably start getting ready anyway, once she's asleep."
you try to stand, but matty traps your leg between both of his and smirks. "nope! you're staying put, my love."
"what is this?" you ask, eyes narrowing as you clock the stylist smiling suspiciously too. "why are you both looking at me like that?"
"well, sweetheart, i know how busy you've been lately, taking care of everyone and everything, and i just want to make sure you're taken care of too," matty begins. "so i decided that i'll take lyla for a few hours today and get her and i ready, so you can have a bit of time to yourself to relax…"
"and i'll do your hair for you," the stylist finishes, grinning. "and just pamper you a bit."
the combination of tiredness and the sweetness of the gesture flicks some sort of weird hormonal switch in you; you genuinely start to tear up at the thought of getting a moment to yourself amidst the chaos of tour prep and dealing with both lyla and matty (who's arguably more of a handful than your literal baby daughter). "that sounds lovely. thank you."
matty shifts lyla into one arm and leans forward to wipe your eyes with the other. he pecks your lips, then your nose, making you giggle. "s'the least i could do, darling. oh, by the way, we're also going out for dinner tonight straight after the gig. just the two of us. date night for mum and dad!"
"how have you managed that? who's looking after lyla?" you laugh, almost deliriously.
"the macdonalds. mentioned to ross i was thinking about taking you on a date, and his wife all but booked a restaurant and swiped lyla out of my arms there and then."
"bless her. i'm excited," you smile, kissing matty's cheek. "thank you, baby. i love you."
"i love you too, my sweet girl. have fun getting your hair done," matty shuffles to stand, and you take a second to stroke lyla's head before they go. "we'll be next door if you need us."
"alright, babe."
with a final wink, the loves of your life disappear through the door. you turn back to face the mirror, smiling at the stylist. fuck, why do you feel nervous? "ok. please try and sort me out. i know it'll be a struggle."
they laugh, pulling the hairband from your head. "nah, piece of cake after dealing with your man's hair. and your daughter's inherited it! god help you, babe."
you giggle. "yeah, but they really are cute, with the curls."
and cute in general, actually - while you sit back contentedly and have your hair combed, you smile so hard it hurts your cheeks at the way matty coos and sings to lyla in the next room to get her to sleep. although you can't see them, you can picture the image clear as day; she'll be in her dad's arms the whole time, because trying to get matty to not constantly cuddle your baby is like drawing blood from a stone, and matty will pace around the suite until she fully nods off. only then will he sit down, quietly humming lullabies or just whatever songs are stuck in his head, looking at lyla with the expression of sheer lovestruck adoration he reserves for only her and you.
you actually get to see said expression in action around half an hour later, while your hair is being manipulated and pinned up into a messy updo; holding a peacefully-snoozing lyla just as you knew he'd be, matty moves to lean against the doorframe and catch your eyes in the mirror. "darling - oh wow, i love your hair like that! - i know i said i was going to give you peace, but can i really quickly ask for your input on my fit for today?"
god, his arms flex so gorgeously when he's holding the baby like that. your head fills with daydreams about them flexing like that as he holds you, your hips, your waist, keeping you steady and close to him as he…
jesus, you need to sleep with your fiancé. it's clearly been too long.
so distracted are you by thirsting over matty that you almost miss what he says. "hmm? oh, yeah. black suit trousers? what's your options for the top half?"
"the saint laurent polka dots, or the black silk one. with the short sleeves."
"i love both, baby, but aren't they a little fancy for a half-hour radio show set?"
matty blushes, looking up through his eyelashes at you in the mirror; he's so beautiful it almost devastates you. "yeah, but… wanna look good for you when we go out after. you'll look stunning, as always - i need to at least try to keep up with you, yeah?"
the stylist utters a quiet "aww!", which kinda perfectly sums up your feelings about your fiancé's words. he's so endearing, matty, looking at you all shy and sweet - you're not quite sure how your heart hasn't caved in from the amount of love for him packed inside it.
and yet… your mind is seemingly still in the gutter. "i think the silk one, honestly" because it shows off those fucking arms of yours better than the other one, baby.
"whatever my girl wants," matty winks, before disappearing into the other room again. he reappears once the stylist leaves twenty minutes later, fully dressed and gorgeous in his finery, with a slightly groggy (but well-rested) lyla and what looks like her entire wardrobe in his arms.
you spin away from the counter and your open makeup bag to look at him. "dilf!"
matty cackles, quickly stopping to soothe lyla when she begins grumbling at his volume. "sorry, munchkin, i just get really excited when mummy lets on how much she fancies me."
"it's not as if you don't know already," you giggle, batting your mascara'd lashes, before shifting your voice into something breathier. "daddy."
"not in front of our daughter!"
"later, though? after our dinner date?"
matty sighs, his cheeks pink. "by all means, princess," he emphasises the nickname, and you beam. "now, lyla-lie, let's get you dressed while mummy puts her face on."
"did you just simon and garfunkel our baby's name?"
"you know it, babe."
your turn to sigh. "alright. carry on."
"i shall," matty sits lyla on the table, just a bit along to the right from you, caging her with his own body while he quickly spreads out her outfit choices. "right, munchkin. well, i'm wearing full black, and mummy's wearing…"
"also full black."
"... so i think we should see about putting you in full black too, baba," matty smiles down at lyla, who's more focused on swinging her little legs than anything else right now. "let's see - oh, these little trousers are cool! d'you like these? yeah? ok. this top?"
you pause your motions of putting highlight on to glance at your daughter; she scowls at the offending top in a way so reminiscent of matty you have to bite the inside of your cheek to stop yourself guffawing.
matty nods. "i agree, it's not quite right. moving on!"
all in all, picking out lyla's outfit for the afternoon takes longer than it did for yours and matty's to be chosen; lyla might look more like you, but she's matty's daughter through and through, a stubborn little fashionista in the making. it takes so long for matty to get her dressed - although you don't totally begrudge him for that, because listening to him try to make up a song on the fly about different items of clothing is hilarious - that you're fully ready (sans lipstick, and even then you're standing tube in hand, ready to go) once she is.
you freeze just before you apply the lippy, though - your fiancé's voice rings out a warning just as you take the lid off. "don't you dare do that yet, sweetheart."
"oh?"
matty smiles. "wanna kiss you first, babe."
and who are you to deny such an appealing notion? you nod, and matty kisses you languidly. his free hand comes up to tenderly cup your jaw, and you smile against his lips; it's not as passionate as some of your other kisses, but as always it's imbued with pure love. you're totally content.
that is, until a tiny hand makes contact with matty's cheek, and he breaks away from you with an "oof". lyla giggles, and you can't help but join in - matty narrows his eyes at his daughter, but he can't resist smiling at her adorable little… well, everything. "excuse me, miss, but mummy and i were having a moment, before you interrupted it quite abruptly. which is actually quite on brand for you, to be honest, kid, given how you were... anyway, what is it you wanted?"
he boops lyla's nose, and she giggles again. as the noise fades into little hums, she turns towards you, reaching an arm out and looking at you pleadingly.
(matty's genetics. definitely.)
"oh, my girl, you want us to do a group hug? alright," you coo, moving closer to the two of them so you can take some of lyla's weight from matty. his free arm snakes a familiar path around your waist to tug you round, and the three of you have a little cuddle for a minute or so. you're reluctant to pull away from your family and the cosy little outpouring of love, and matty seems to be too, but lyla quickly gets distracted by something else and begins to wriggle.
as it turns out, the focus of her attention is her own reflection - you laugh when you realise, while matty cringes into his baby's shoulder. "yep, that's my fault."
"well, someone had to say it," you drily respond, looking in the mirror at your daughter's wondrous expression. "lyla, are you fascinated by how pretty you look in your cool outfit? it really is cool, by the way," you turn to matty. "good job, baby."
"oh yeah, you hear that, munchkin? we got the mummy seal of approval," matty cheers, dancing around a little and making lyla - and you - smile. he looks lovingly over her head at you. "and that's really good, because mummy's the coolest person in the world. and the most beautiful, although i think you're giving her a run for her money. but you do have her eyes, i s'pose - those would make anybody infinitely more gorgeous, if they had them."
you can feel your cheeks burning. you've lost count of the number of times matty's complimented you like that, and yet you still get totally lovestruck every time. "oh, shush," you grin bashfully. "i can't take credit for those beautiful curls, can i?"
"ok, true," matty nods. he sets lyla down on the tabletop - snorting as she immediately crawls right up to the mirror - and tugs you into his side. you immediately snuggle into his chest. "we really do make cute babies together, don't we?"
"we do," you say, smiling at your daughter before turning and wrapping your arms around matty's neck. "d'you want to make another one tonight?"
matty's breath hitches, and he tugs you down for a quick, head-spinning kiss before murmuring against your lips. "fuck yeah i do."

could you maybe do for the mini series where the pregnant reader is at Travis’ game and we reveal to his teammates and the whole world they are having a child?? also keep it up! i love your imagines so much! i find myself coming back and rereading!❤️
Tumblr media
picture perfect - travis kelce.
summary | the chiefs win the super bowl making it the perfect opportunity to tell the world and travis’s teammates the news
warnings | mentions of morning sickness + pregnancy
authors note | hi nonnies!!!!! hope you like this!!! thank y sm for the kind words 🥹 you motivate me to keep writing! lmk what you think and if u have any requests :)
Tumblr media
it was the day of super bowl 57. the kansas city chiefs were playing the philadelphia eagles.
you were about 4 months pregnant and still had only told your close family and very few friends just till you passed your third month. you and travis had been planning on telling the guys today after the game no matter who won.
“oh my gosh hi y/n!!!!!” brittany said to you with open arms, as you walked into to locker room with travis following suit. you went up to brittany and travis went to talk to patrick and a few of his other teammates.
you hadn’t seen brit for a while because due to your pregnancy and the sickness that came with it, you had to skip out on many games in person. although you always supported from home, you had missed experiencing them in person.
“hi, brit! aw, i missed you so much!!” you said as you hugged her back.
“oh, girl i missed you more!! how are you?” she said smiling at you as she leaned down to pick up sterling who had been trying to get her mom's attention
“im good hun! how are you guys? my god, she’s getting so big! hi ster!!” you said as you smiled at the two-year-old in her arms as she smiled back at you.
“oh, we’re good! ugh i know they grow so fast!! wait till you see bronze he’s so big already!!” she said with a frown on her face
“i can just imagine! they’re both so cute though!!” you said as sterling tried reaching for you causing you to put your arms out and take her.
“aw did you miss auntie y/n?” brittany said as she pulled out her phone to take pictures of you two.
“oh wow look at these little ladies!” travis said as he and patrick walked toward the three of you
“wow y/n you look like a natural.” patrick said as he stood on brittany’s side with his arm around her waist.
“she’s gonna be a great mom one day!” trav said as he smiled down knowingly at you and you looked up at him with a smirk on your face
“oh she definitely will be!!!” brittany said as she took sterling back from you as she was starting to get fussy
“alright guys let’s go! ladies clear out!” said coach reid
“good luck baby. we love you.” you said as you leaned up to kiss travis and give him a hug
“i love you baby.” he said as he pulled away from the hug and gently brushed his hand over your stomach.
as you walked out of the locker room you turned back to blow him another kiss and wave goodbye.
you and the rest of the girls made your way up to your designated lounge and got settled in.
“y/n you are literally glowing!! have you been doing something new?” one of the girls had said to you as you were mid-conversation with brittany
“aw thank you! no i haven’t done anything different lately..” you said with a nervous laugh
“wow now that you mention it you do have a glow to you…” britt said as she examined your features with a confused face
“hm i don’t know what it could be…” you said as you nonchalantly shrugged and took a sip of your drink
but brittany just became 100% more suspicious. honestly, you had wanted her to be one of the first people you told but travis wanted to tell the whole team together so you obliged with his wishes.
she has been pregnant twice so she thinks she would be pretty good at detecting it in somebody else. she noticed the glow, and how you had been eating tons of junk but that honestly didn’t faze her much. what threw her off was your outfit she didn’t think much about it until now. you were wearing an overly large hoodie with travis’s jersey number and said “mrs kelce” on the back. she looked down toward your stomach and noticed that the hoodie wasn’t as oversized as it should’ve been. she kept quiet about her suspicions though not wanting to be wrong.
the chiefs had beaten the eagles 38-35 and everyone was ecstatic. you and the rest of the girls were all making your way to the field to find your husbands.
as you walked through the large crowd of reporters, families, players, and interviewers your eyes were finally met with the ones you had been looking for.
with a large smile on your face, you ran to your husband.
“good job baby!!!! i’m so proud of you.” you said with a huge smile on your face as you jumped into his open arms and placed multiple kisses on his face.
“thank you, my love. you know i had to do it for my girls.” he said as he smiled down at you and you smiled back leaning up to kiss him.
“i’m so beyond proud of you travy. my super bowl champ!” you said as you smiled at him with tears in your eyes as he shared the same expression so happy with how far you both had come.
after many interviews and hugs, you and travis made your way up to the big platform where many of his teammates were already on.
“you ready?” he said as he looked down at you making sure you were certain.
“yeah definitely. i think britt is getting a little too suspicious and she’s going to tell everyone before i get too.” you said as you laughed
“oh she definitely would.” travis said as he laughed and rolled his eyes walking closer to the front of the platform.
as he was greeted by his coach and fellow teammates he grabbed hold of the trophy in his hands making sure you were right by his side.
as terry bradshaw called travis to join his side he did. he asked him many questions about the game and how well he had played.
“now i see you’ve got your wife y/n here next to you is that correct?” terry said as he smiled at you
“yes this is my beautiful wonderful wife y/n!” travis said as he kissed your forehead
“she’s got to be a big part of your motivation for this game right? i mean it must feel great to just go home to her and be a super bowl winner!” terry said as he smiled at travis
“she is the reason i do this. if it wasn’t for her i wouldn’t be here right now…actually she isn’t the only reason i do this as of lately.” travis said a shy smile on his face as your heart rate raced.
“oh really? what’s your new reason?” terry said curiously
“well y/n is currently carrying our baby girl who is definitely the newest reason to why i do this!!” travis said as he rested his hand atop your stomach and you both smiled wide.
“wow, congratulations buddy! baby kelce coming to the world soon everyone!!” terry said as he patted travis on the back and he was immediately bombarded with hugs and congratulations from his teammates.
“oh, y/n!!!!! i knew it!!!!! oh my gosh i’m so happy!!!” brittany said as she found you and pulled you into a hug
“thank you brit!! i wanted to tell you at the beginning but travis felt it was special if we told everyone today!” you said as you smiled at her
“oh that’s fine i’m just so happy!! sterling your gonna have a little friend soon!” she said to the sleepy toddler in her arms as you smiled at her.
“congrats y/n!” patrick said as he came over with travis to give you a hug
“thanks pat!” you said as you hugged hun back
many of the other guys and girls congratulated you and you felt nothing but happiness radiating in the air.
you and travis were finally home after a very long night.
“i hope you know how proud i am…” you said to him as his head rested on your chest listening to your heartbeat as his hand found your stomach and rubbed circles on it
“i know baby. i don’t know what i would genuinely do without you….” he said as he kissed your chin
“did you like how we told everyone? it went to your liking..?” you said as your fingers ran through his buzzed scalp
“are you kidding? it couldn’t have been more perfect babe.” he said as he sat up slightly to look at your face
“i’m just glad your happy.” you said smiling at him
“couldn’t be happier…” he said as he kissed your lips gently and then returned his head to its previous spot. as he slowly drifted to sleep he couldn’t help the smile on his face. he had won his second super bowl with the same girl still on his arm and now bringing a baby into this world. what more could he ask for?
he had won his second super bowl with the same girl still on his arm and now bringing a baby into this world. what more could he ask for?

New weapon for Jaune, Power Suit from Metroid
Tumblr media
Also, add Samus Aran to the list of Arc relative.
Jaune: Hey, look at this.
Ruby: Huh... I've never seen a suit like this before.
Jaune: I don't see a booth set up for it, either. Is this somebody's weapon?
Ruby: Well... Do you wanna try it?
Jaune: What?! No!
Samus: You can't use it.
Jaune: Huh?!
Ruby: Whoa! You are tall!
Jaune: Uh, is this yours?
Samus: Yes, it's biologically bonded to my DNA.
Ruby: Whoa... I thought we were still years from that kind of technology!
Samus: You are. So is the rest of the galaxy.
Jaune: The rest of the..?
Samus: Word of advice; don't touch somebody's stuff if you know it's not yours. (Steps into the suit, Closes around her)
Samus: THE LAST THING YOU WANT IS ME HUNTING YOU DOWN.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Samus would be an interesting addition to the Jaune's Family suggestions. Sadly, though, she does not meet one crucial criteria for joining Jaune's family. At least in my AU. If you want to make an AU with Auntie Samus, by all means, go ahead.

NAMJOON
• 𝐍𝐎𝐓 gonna lie, it was a rocky ass start when y'all first arrived
• having the meeting-the-family for the first time jives and all
• boy way shaking and sweating bullets the moment he stepped through the backdoor
• and to add salt on to the wound, almost the entire yard went silent when they spotted him
• with a strained smile and wave, you walk over to your parents
• Namjoon of course stayed close to your ass like white on rice
• the tension slowly went away as you spoke to the older generations of the family
• sweet baby Joon just sitting there quietly, ain't saying nothing in fear of messing up
• even though it wasn't being spoken, everyone was curious of the new face, hence the side glances every now and then
• it wasn't until your LEAST favorite loud mouth no filter having ass boy cousin came over to start some shit up
• "Aye ____, why you bring this anime non-speaking Nigga up in here? Black men ain't too good enough or something?"
• you purse your lips at his words, ultimately done with the bullshit
• it became even more awkward when you heard murmurs of agreement around
• "First off, I very much can speak and understand English. Secondly..." Joon steps closer, towering over the froggy male with a look of contempt, "What does me being Asian have to do with it?"
• "......."
• "........"
• ".........MYYY NIGGA! WASSUP MANE. Aye you know I was just testing you right? Gotta see who right for my cuz and all."
• people let out forced laughs while [Cousin Name]'s dumbass try to cover up his mistake
• surprisingly after that, Namjoon begins to open up and talk more with the family
• more so the younger ones, but at least he trying and that's all that matters
• the little kids think he's some kind of dog whisperer since all the dogs crowd around him for some reason as he tells them stories
• your parents damn near teared up when they found out he was smart
• "Oooh, ____ got a smart one y'all! Not only is my baby in college, but she also dating an Einstein! Oh [Auntie Name], I almost forgot to ask how your daughter doing with that locked dope dealer boyfriend of hers. Chris was it?"
• "Mama, please. Now is not the time to be starting stuff. This ain't a competition between me and [Cousin Name]."
• "Yeah yeah, whatever. Now baby, now that I know ____ got somebody like you around. Please help her raise them grades up, cause whew chile!"
• "Mama!"
• since he's still afraid to go out of his way to socialize unless being approached, Namjoon decides to spend most of his time with your mother
• bastard even got a chance to see the photo album that held ALL of your baby photos
• "Awwww, look at this photo! You were so cute ____!"
• "I swear Joon, Imma beat your ass if you don't get them photos out my damn face."
• "But why? You're adorable in these~"
• "Adorable? Adorable?! Just cuz you fucking me doesn't mean you gotta lie. We both know those some questionable ass baby pictures."
• he's so soft spoken and polite in conversations but wouldn't mind starting some shit up if needed for your sake
• ...words be so sly that it'll take a few minutes before your brain finally process what he said
• "I'm surprised ____ was able to get into [prestigious university], let alone in a whole 'nother country!"
• "It's really hard to get into [prestigious university] of Seoul while even being an international student. Then again, I don't even know why I'm telling you this. Not like you could meet the entry requirements needed to attend."
• not a roaster, but definitely one to throw light jabs and heavy shade
• being your grandma's favorite (even tho she says she loves all her grandkids equally) you knew it was over when finding out that she likes him more than you
• at least you still got your Uncle Pookie. It always take a few years before he warms up to the outsiders of the famil-
• "Oh yeah, did I mention I did a collab with Nicki Minaj and Juice Wrld before?"
• all hell breaks loose
• everybody asking questions left to right
• even Uncle Pookie don left your side to talk to Namjoon about it
• "...did...did he just...?"
• ....yeah, he stole ya family
════════════════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═════════════════
SEOKJIN
• despite having met your parents before, he was still nervous about meeting the whole family
• that doesn't mean he was gonna show it tho
• with a mask of full confidence on, he walked through the back gates and into the backyard
• even when feeling eyes on him, he kept it up. 'just fake it til you make it'
• eventually, the confidence quickly became real once speaks to your parents
• it wasn't until he saw the amount of food at the table did he fully relax
• your mama saw the dazed look on his face and immediately walked him over
• "Nice to see you again Jin! That food caught your attention huh? Don't worry baby, what you want to eat? Just tell me and mama will fix a plate for you. And don't be shy either, especially when ya looking like ____ ain't feeding you right!"
• "Really mama?!"
• "Hush now! You can't blame me, look at him! Now come on sweetie, let's go get you some food~"
• ate every and anything placed in front of him
• finished damn near five plates before he decided to take a break for desserts
• so many of the serving ladies (who were mostly your aunties and older cousins) dropped their panties when they saw the number of empty plates and tried to feed him more.
• "Here sweetheart, you want some more greens?"
• "Edna don't nobody want them dry ass greens! Here, try some of my chicken. Saved the biggest piece just for you~"
• "Please, we already know you bought that shit from the store so it ain't no use trying to act all brand new Zelma. Know damn well you ain't fooling nobody with ya fake chicken having ass!"
• a war would've broken out had you not stepped in and took Jin away as he continued to watch the fight while stuffing his face with some of the chicken
• even after, he went back to try the spicy foods on the other side of the table
• quickly fell in love and got everything he could put his hands-on
• "What's this?"
• "They're homemade jalapeño poppers."
• "I'll take 50 of them."
• "Jin that's damn near all of them!"
• "Well it's homemade right? So they can just make some more then...problem solved!"
• seeing him gobbling down the food, your grandma comes over and the two end up in an intense conversation
• what's it about?
• you guessed it: food
• Jin became really good at dancing to the Wobble once he studied everyone's movements for a few moments
• but immediately goes in a corner out of embarrassment until your grandma calls him back to talk (about food again lol)
• when he found out she made those jalapeño poppers...extreme fanboy mode on
• your grandma enjoyed his enthusiasm so much she gave him the recipe and a to-go plate before y'all left
• rest assured that he's definitely been invited for the next social event
════════════════*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*═════════════════
YOONGI
• it's kinda a good thing that it's a cookout because he refuses to handle a family gathering in one room
• "I don't got time to be breathing in all that shit, what if somebody got the 'Rona over there?"
• "Yoongi...you really ain't shit. You know that?"
• "Didn't hear you deny it tho."
• "...Whatever let's just go."
• "Now don't forget your facema-"
• "Yoongi!"
• "Okay, okay!...I'm still bringing that can of Lysol spray with me."

• the kids and your cousins are amazed
• "Woah...that's so dope!"
• "____! Why didn't you tell me how cool your boyfriend was?!"
• they watch him with their mouths dropped open in awe, eagerly hanging on to every word he spits out in a freestyle rap despite it being in a language they didn't know/understand until the food is ready
• your parents (low-key only your dad cause momma still didn't forgive him from that stunt he pulled at church) smile at how soft he is when he looks at you despite having a glare as his resting bitch face
• eats only one plate that was made by you

• "Aye mane, you think you could listen to my demo or sum cuz? 'Preciate it."
• reluctantly agrees to listen, but Yoongi -being the way he is- straight up stops the music by middle chorus and gives his honest opinion
• "Um...what the fuck is this?"
• "Whatchu mean mane? It's fye huh? So you can put me on an album or sum?"
• "You do know that the background music is the goddamn theme song from that Sofia The First show right?"
• "...yeah, I wanted to add a 'lil twist to it. Was there a mistake in it?"
• you immediately remember how brutal the idol can be from time to time and step in before he can get an asswhooping from dudes that's three times his size

• "Yoongs..."You give a strained smile, ignoring the wondering gazes at what you're suddenly saying in Korean, "please shut the fuck up."
• "Wha-why the hell do I have to shut up?! If anything, we know who needs to, and not to mention that wonky-ass Disney Cinderella song they call a beat."
• "You do know they just got out right?"
• "Of what? Kindergarten? 'Cause that's all I can tell from those barely basic ass rhyming words they put up in there. Pssh, you would think they would learn how to actually rap with all that free time they had."
• "Yoongi!"

• he ain't gonna sugar coat SHIT
• might end up fighting a relative if it comes up to it
• "Now listen here young man-"
• "No you listen here you ungrateful ass excuse of a person, you've been nothing but a pain in my balls since the moment we met. So you better back the fuck up before you get smacked the fuck up. I don't give a rat's ass who or how old you are. Whether you a man, woman, non-binary, or a damn tree, I don't give a FUCK. But I do know one thing: these fists are pansexual and rated E for everyone, so you can catch 'em if you want."
• depending on how prideful they are, they might not like that
• when you guys leave and go back to your apartment you cuddle
• "You didn't have to do all that Yoongi. Some family are just like that, gotta roll with the punches."
• "I don't care who they are to you, you deserve the same respect you give them. Not any of that petty bullshit they love to spew out. And speaking of petty, that's why I took both pans of the peach cobbler and banana pudding too."

Magic In the Room
[TEASER]
-SLATED FOR RELEASE IN DECEMBER (CHRISTMAS SPECIAL)
helpless romantic chubby reader x idol/celebrity jungkook
-I don't know why all my works lined up for December are more comedic than angsty, but that's sort of how they are working out😆
Tumblr media
"It's a magical time of year Namjoon!! The time I may get to experience my first orgasm" , y/n squealed , clutching her arms excitedly around herself, face contorted into a huge smile. Namjoon side eyed her, questioning her , "Girl, what are you on about? Are you trying to tell me and all the guys huddled in the living room, that you have never experienced an orgasm".
The undeniably jubilant glint in Y/N's eyes flickered out as she morosely stared out at the snowing window, "I know it's an utter travesty for someone my age", she wailed in grief. Y/N beseeched to some deity up in the air, "Is it too much for a girl to ask for a monster cock stuffed up her pussy and man who will play with her tits for 5 minutes straight"? y/n turned around to see Taehyung stare at her as though she were an alien and Jimin spit out his hot cocoa all over the coffee table.
Namjoon shook his head , clutching his forehead in his hands, "Y/N you need to stop this behavior. Too much desperation turns men off". Y/N scrunched her eyebrows together in confusion, "But men have fucked corpses before, that's why do not have many male handlers at mortuaries. What screams desperation more than dudes who would pork the unliving"?
Yoongi started choking at Y/N's bold statement. The girl always came over to spend Christmas with them every year since she was in college, being a close friend of Namjoon's since childhood.
Namjoon quietly stated to Y/N, "Why don't you make up your mind Y/N? Pick somebody to show you a good sexual experience then". Y/N ignored Namjoon as she started to pick up her novel , giggling to herself as she came across the part of the paranormal romance book where the monstrous kraken tentacle would fuck the heroine. The kraken lifted up the girl in the air with one tentacle, as he slid another one to clutch her nipples and stroke her pussy. Y/N sighed, it all sounded so dreamy. If only she had a kraken to abduct her and fuck her. And then...........marry her and put a ring on her, proceed to savagely take her against a flat surface everyday, and put five kraken babies in her. Then all her problems would be solved.
Namjoon grunted in frustration, "Y/N, we both know reading about monsters fucking women is going to get you nowhere. You need real human men to do you right now". Y/N glared at him, piqued at his insensitive statement. "How could you even suggest that preposterous idea to me Namjoon?!", she barked out. Namjoon continued without even batting an eyelash, "what about Jungkook? He is around your age group and he's a brilliant man whore. If anyone could get you to orgasm, it would be him". The room fell silent at Namjoon's proclamation as all the other boys in the room started laughing like a pack of hyenas.
Y/N winced , rubbing her palms together in fury, ready to knock Namjoon out with her bare fist. "HE CALLED ME AUNTIE, NAMJOON! AUNTIE!!! He saw my romance novels and insulted my fabulous taste! Flung dishonor upon my werewolf, kraken, and vampire book hubbies!!! I am not doing anything with a self righteous man whore who disdains the men of my dreams like that"!!
Before Y/N or Namjoon could continue their arguments, a doe eyed, coconut headed man entered the room bringing in the cold with him as he flung off his scarf and mittens. He smirked as he saw Y/n, "Hey Auntie! How you doing"?
Y/N simmered in indignation as she bit out, "Just peachy you ugly man troll". She reached for the remote and her face melted into a surreal smile as she saw her on screen husband, Edward Cullen. She forgot about Jungkook as she clutched her hands to her cheeks, rapturously exclaiming, " Just look at that jawline that could cut glass. My beautiful sparkling man. At least fill Bella with a bunch of your vampire babies if you can't fill me with them". To the irritation of Jungkook, she started sniffling as though it was her husband getting killed by the Volturi.
Jungkook smiled mockingly, "Why don't you let me show you a good time Auntie? Maybe then you would forget about your imaginary boyfriends".
Y/N stopped sniffling as her eyes burned flames of vengeance and pure hatred, " I'd rather have my mouth stuffed with troll dick and be fucked up my ass by a garden gnome, than to spend one more minute in your presence". She stomped out the living space into her room, slamming the door behind her, leaving Jungkook in shock at her dramatic vow. Why was feeling just a bit envious of the mythical garden gnome?
Namjoon sighed in exasperation, turning towards the younger man, "Did you really have to rile her up like that? I think for once she is truly making it a mission to get fucked by someone. She seems to be dissatisfied by her book boyfriends and her on screen husbands". Jungkook drawled out , "You sure she is going to actually get out of this phase? Even if she does, she is not so attractive that she would have guys jumping up to fuck her like that".
Y/N slammed open the door, wearing a sleeveless black lace corset dress that cupped her breasts and hips just right. She trudged towards the door screaming out, "I am leaving"!
All the boys watched as she pulled out of the drive way in her red maserati. Jungkook felt an irrational pang of jealousy as she left. Who the fuck was she going to see dressed like that? He inquired quietly, "Namjoon, where is she going"? Namjoon sighed again, as though he held the weight of the world on his shoulders, "Probably to worship at the shrine in her house, like she does every Sunday".
Jungkook sat there confused, "A shrine of who exactly"?
Namjoon took a long sip of hot chocolate, as he calmly said, " Mr. Rochester. The book husband she recently divorced. He is her ex so it should be fine".
Jungkook bristled in his seat silently. He shouldn't be feeling this way, but............why the hell was he feeling slightly bitter towards Mr. Rochester?
Mr. Rochester in the flesh , just for reference

#33. “Don’t do that... Let me see you.”
Warnings: angst, self-harm, high anxiety, implied anxiety attack, age gap (all legal)
Enjoy (:
Those dreadful Deatheater meetings always sent a pit to your stomach and your mind into a frenzy.
You were at Malfoy Manor for the summer (Draco had insisted). But every time they had one of those damned meetings, you scurried upstairs, slamming the door to your room and collapsing on the floor, hyperventilating and tears running down your face.
This time it was so bad, you couldn’t keep your hands still, they were so shaky. And the next thing you knew, you were lightly scratching your arm in circular patterns. It felt slightly soothing, like a calming second in the chaos. But soon, the overwhelming feeling came back, so you scratched harder. Again and again this cycle repeated, until both of your arms were all scratched up and bloody. You began to panic again and reached for your available thighs. But just as you got to scratching those, a knock came from behind you.
Your eyes widened and your breath hitched. You quickly got up and scurried over to your bed, making sure to cover your arms with the covers. The person knocked again.
“Darlin’…? It’s me, Aunty Cissy (Mrs. Malfoy had insisted you call her ‘Cissy’)” her soft, southern voice spoke.
“Would it be alright’ if I come in…?”
“Yea sorry come in…!” You croaked, your voice rough from your crying.
Cissy entered the room, with her hips swaying a bit faster than usual and concern written all over her face. You were embarrassed and ashamed and you couldn’t meet her gaze. Everything immediately clicked for the blonde.
“Darlin’… Are you alright’…?” She gently asked, approaching the bed slowly.
You shook your head, trying to keep the tears from starting to fall again but failing. Instinctually, you went to rub the tears from your face, and that’s when she saw them. You immediately realized what you’d done and scurried your arms back under the covers.
“Don’t do that... Let me see you.” Cissy concerningly tutted, coming quickly over to the bed.
You gulped and pulled your arms out. Cissy’s eyes widened and she was quick to pull the rest of the cover away to also reveal your partially scratched up thighs.
“Oh Darlin’…”
Cissy looked at you with caring and distraught eyes. She then left to go into the bathroom and came back with some medical supplies.
“Let me clean you up…” she mumbled, like caring for you was her second nature.
You let the southern woman clean off your wounds and bandage them up until she was satisfied. Then she went to put the supplies away, coming soon back and standing by the bed.
“Scooch.”
You did as you were told, scooching over without another word. Cissy promptly joined you on your bed, opening her arms for you to fall into, which you did so instinctually. The two of you passed time with Cissy caressing you in her hold, while your breathing slowly evened out. Eventually Cissy broke the silence.
“I’m here if you wanna talk about it, sweet thing…” her sultry yet gentle tone reassured you.
You nodded and recognition of her words, and simply nuzzled even further into her frame. Cissy took your gesture and lovingly kissed your forehead.
“Get some rest, Darlin’. I’ll be here when you wake up…” She gently spoke, as you drifted off into a calm, undisturbed sleep.

After two days of showing them around the forest, they were at hells gate with spider, once I came in quaritch was already in there, “just got with us, or I’ll have to give you to the white coats,” Quaritch said, I grabbed my mask and go in, spider’s eyes go wide, “do not acknowledge me, pretend you do not know me,” I said sternly, he gulped, “what is a boy like you doing out there?” I ask, he didn’t answer “I got his under control,” quaritch said, “for somebody who was willing to kill kids before you died sure as hell good with them,” I said sarcastically, I huff leaning up “he’s not gonna big to be tested on anyways he’s not a damn animal,” I said “how is he able to survive out there?” one of the so call asks “he’ll tell when he’s ready, that’s a child! Not no science experiment not your property,” i snarled.
After a while quaritch ends up coming across lorks room, it was wide cracked open but you can see her doing a side braid Mohawk, the rest of her hair left out, wavy black texture, hair down to her butt, she word a army green crop juss below her breast, with block shorts that hugged her curves so well, she looked intimidating, a women who can hold her own in a war, almost like the man need her more then she need the man. Quaritch didn’t realize he was staring at her till his eyes met her through the mirror, she stood stopped at her hair staring back through the mirror in confusion and annoyance, he walks away.
Spider runs to her room, “nyema!” He hugs her, nyema hugs him back “oh thank eywa, look… you have to listen… you do not know me okay, if they know I know you, it’s going to blow my cover,” she said he nods “okay” he answers “I’ll make sure they don’t hurt you okay?” He nodded, she taps his arm and stood up. “Did Jake leave like I told him to?” She ask he shakes his head “I don’t know, I believe so,” he says, she sighed, things got hectic yesterday when quaritch came across Jake’s kids, luckily I got there fast enough to make him release them but he took spider.
“I gotta go meet up with him, stay here and just take play dumb, don’t fall for whatever they tell you,” she said, he nods She leaves flying on her ikran to a secret area, she lands and jumps off of her ikran, she looks around but was quickly stopped as the neytiri had her arrows drew back including neteyam “woah woahhh!” She lifts her hands up in confusion, “wait that’s nyema,” neteyam says sighing in relief, “jesus, you would think it wouldn’t be me,” she joked neteyam smiled running to hug her, “ahh look at you, growin up strong like your stubborn father,” she smirks, neytiri smiled softly “I see you” I hand gestured and hug her “I’m sorry, if I was there sooner, these idiots just don’t fucking listen,” she huffs, neytiri shakes her head “I’m just glad you were able to get them out safely,” she says, “auntie nene!” Tuk runs jumping into nyema’s arms “oh my gosh tuk, my little tuk tuk,” nyema squeals, “oh you’re growing,” she smiled kissing her cheek, “auntie ny!” Lo’ak and kiri shouted attacking her with hugs knocking her down “jesus! Y’all are growing to fast!” Nyema giggles.
Jake smiled, “we missed you!” Kiri giggles, “I know, I miss you too,” she sighed she stands up, “hey jarhead, got good and bad new which one ya want first?” Nyema asks, “it’s already been a bad day so go on with the bad one,” he said, “they got spider but the good news is he’s safe, he’s going to be in my care, I am in most command, quaritch ain’t no colonel nomo.. he’s dummy, a clone, a puppet so… he’s under my command, he knows I’ll kill him and the rest of those demons dead if they try anything,” she says, he sighs in relief “that’s good,” he picks up tuk, “but I want to tell you now, they are going to be hunting you, now that quaritch knows you’re here and alive, he’s going to hunt you, for his little so call revenge.. I’ll hold him off but I feel he’s going to do something slick so I suggest for extra safety if shit goes down pack up and go… and I mean now, it doesn’t have to be temporary but, it’s till I can get them off your ass,” nyema says, neytiri frowns “no! We can’t leave,” neytiri said.
“Neytiri I know this is your home and I do not want to take that away from you but if Quaritch or the people find you, it’s all hell again, you’re children are at risk, please just listen to me it’s not temporary, me and Jake both know.. these things have to happen if you want your kids safe, I want my nieces and nephews safe to, tuk doesn’t need to see what war is like at this age, just please reconsider, I can only give you a few days because of the executive executes the order to hunt you guys it’s done I cant control that,” she said, Jake nods sighing “I know.. do what you gotta do, you can only do so much while staying undercover if they find out about nyema they can kill you,” he said, she sighed “yep” she huffs “alright kids give me one last hug-aye!” She laughs when they tackle her to the ground “y’all are going to stop tackling me down like this,” she huffs, tuk giggles “are you coming back?” She asks “when I get the chance tuktuk, you boys protect your sisters and your mother and keep your dumbass father from fucking shit up,” She says, Jake rolls his eyes “funny” he said she chuckles in laughter getting on her ikran “byeee!” Tuk waves nyema waves back.
Nyema walks down the hall, “having a midnight fly” quaritch says, nyema slows down glaring at quaritch, “go walk a dog or something,” she spat, he chuckled “fiesty little kitty” she draw her gun pointing it at him, he lifts his hands up “woah there, clam down ain’t nobody tryna hurt ya,” he said, “don’t call me kitty,” she hissed. He chuckles “easy, I think we got off on the wrong foot,” he says, she pulls her gun away huffing, “I’d say we both want the same thing,” he says I shake my head “no! We don’t! I was brought back to life to after I was killed, you don’t see me going back to get revenge, it’s because of what I deserved! You all deserve! These people need to be left alone, Pandora needs to be left alone not treated like your dead ass planet!” She scoffed, “I am not here for whatever y’all got, I’m trying to better my life not loose it again,” she said sternly then walks away he huffs shaking his head.
The next day Quaritch did the dumbest thing he could do, get spider to teach him, spider said no so he decided to come up with a new plan, get him to get me to teach him. He felt if spider was able to get her to say yes, he wouldn’t have to deal with her already trying to slit his throat,. Spider walks into my room, “nyema! I wanna ask you something,” he says sitting on the bed, “what is it?” I ask putting my gun belt on. “Can you teach quaritch-teach him what?” I cut him off already not liking the question, he bites his lip but continues “just teach him the beauty of eywa, umm maybe how to ride the ikrans,” he said, “no” I responded instantly he pouts, “ oh come on nyema, please,” he begs, “I’m not dumb spider, no I am not teaching that demon anything no,” he says, he grabs the bracelet I gasp chasing after him “hey spider give it back now!” I said “I won’t give it back unless you teach him,” he says, “spider I am not playing with you, give it back now!” I hissed, I kept chasing him around the room till I caught him and got the bracelet but it was taken out of my hand I gasp turning my head and it was quaritch “well.. a mighty fine bracelet you got,” he smirks looking at it “give it back!” I said “you help me or I’ll snap this bracelet into pieces,” he threatens “give me my bracelet back Quaritch now!” I yelled but he only glared at me, “give it back please-no that’s my daughter’s bracelet it’s the only one I have left of her give it back!” I yelled trying to get it out of his hand but it ended up getting hooked on a hanger and it broke, my heart sank deep “oh no” spider gasps.
I begin to cry, “Quaritch what did you do?!” Spider shouted “that’s my daughter’s bracelet you bitch!” I yell kneeing him in the crotch, I shoved him out “get out!” I said spider ends up leaving out of fear he was going to get yelled and I slammed the door locking it with tears in my eyes as I broke down.
Later that night, I got back to my room sniffled from crying. The last thing of my daughter is gone and broken, once I reached my room man’s opened it I took off my gun belt and hang it up. I lock my door, and took my shoes over and nearly got undressed when I notice something on the bed. It was the bracelet fixed?! I quickly picked it up and it was fixed like it never was before, but who fixed it?
To be continued…

A/N: I've been feeling a bit little today but I haven't actually dropped, so I kind of fell into a younger mindset for the reader. To the anon that requested a storyline similar to a teenager reader, I can write that one too if you'd like? Just wasn't feeling it today, sorry :)

*how i imagine their clothing at the end, but you can imagine anything you'd like*
*not my gif*
Many people at school thought you were weird. The fact that you wore these ‘dorky’ glasses and ‘stupid’ clothes was slowly eating away at you. Nobody knew your moms were Supergirl and Lena Luthor, two of the biggest names in pop culture - Lena had kept her publicity quiet whilst Kara hadn’t revealed her identity to the world.
You spotted Kara as you walked out of school, another horrid day of year two eating away at your young and boisterous personality.
“Hi Mama!” You yelled excitedly, running up to her and tackling her in a hug.
“Hello, my darling inah (daughter).” She kissed your forehead before buckling you into your seat, making your jaw drop as a gasp came out.
“Mommy!”
“Hiya, sweetheart.” Lena grinned from the front passenger seat, making goofy faces at you in her mirror as she touched up her mascara.
“Are you ready to go home, baby?” Kara asked after buckling herself into her seatbelt.
“Mhms! Is cousie Esme at home?” You replied.
“She sure is!”
“And Auntie Alex? Auntie Kelly?!”
“Yep and yep!” Lena answered this time, the two of them surprised at your excitement.
“How was your day at school, honey?”
“It was so fun, Mommy! We had somebody come today and I got to pet a lizard! He had a blue tongue too!” You giggled at the memory, looking out of the window.
“That sounds amazing, Y/N/N.” Lena smiled warmly at you, tickling your leg.
As you all made your way back to Lena’s penthouse loft, you immediately ran up the stairs. You threw your bag down, not caring about the stuff inside, and went back downstairs to see everybody.
You tackled Alex and Kelly in a hug, the two of them almost losing the air in their lungs whilst Esme quickly copied Kara so you wouldn’t hurt her. “Hey, little cousie.”
“Hi hi!” You grinned, seeing an assortment of crayons on the table in front of you. “Can I draw you something?” You whispered in Esme’s ear, to which she nodded.
You immediately sat down and began to draw your masterpiece, making sure the sun was in the top corner and the sky was blue. Everybody was on the page in their correct spots, your Mommy and Mama holding either of your hands whilst everybody else stood beside them.
“Y/N, dinner is ready!” Kara called out to you from the kitchen, your head popping up to see everybody making their way over.
You scrambled to get onto your chair at the table, waiting patiently for everyone to sit before you pulled out your drawing. “Look! Do you all like it?”
Gasps and applause came from them all, with the drawing being passed around as dinner was served. You giggled at Kara’s heat vision on the chicken, wanting to use yours but you weren’t quite in control yet.
When Kara got the drawing, she smiled at herself in her Supergirl outfit before putting it on the fridge along with some of your other creations. You enjoyed the dinner consisting of the carbonara pasta for you, whilst others ate from the other dishes on the table until Alex decided on watching a movie.
You snuggled up between Kara and Lena, to which Nia guided a blanket on top of your trio which made you beam at her. “Thanks, Auntie Nia!”
“You’re very welcome, Y/N/N.” She beamed back, kissing your forehead gently before she cuddled up to Brainy.
As the movie played on, you grew bored as you didn’t understand some of the older references, so you decided to draw again. As your mind wandered to what school would be like tomorrow, your drawing began to reflect that. The crayons you used were usually bright, but now they were full of shadows and darkness.
Eventually you grew tired and climbed back up to Lena, having no space to sit between Kara and the noirette, which left you with your toes hiding underneath Nia’s blanket. As you fell asleep, her mind fell into your dream and she watched the bullies teasing you for your glasses and clothes.
When she woke up, however, she didn’t want to disturb Kara and Lena’s special time together, so she kept it to herself and gently manipulated your dream into something more fun and exciting.
———————————————————————
Kara was not expecting a call from your school as she sat in Lena’s office on her lunch break. She looked up at Lena and the two made their way to your school, seeing you sniffling and shaking in your seat.
“Honey baby, what happened?” Kara knelt in front of you, gently wiping away your tears.
You shook your head and your tears poured, making Kara very distressed as she picked you up easily, bouncing you and herself instead of flying like she used to when you were little. She turned to Lena, who had spoken with the receptionist, and gently put you back down in your chair.
“Y/N/N, lovey, we will be right back, okay?” She kissed your forehead, noticing your glasses were crooked before righting them.
She stepped into the principal’s office with Lena, her in a blue argyle style whilst Lena was in her dark maroon suit. They sat down in a set of chairs next to what they could only assume was the other child’s mother and father, the plaque at the end of the desk reading Principal Johnson.
“What happened?” Lena asked, a tinge of annoyance in her tone.
“Ms Luthor, Ms Danvers, this is Mr and Mrs. Kepler. There’s no easy way to say this, but… Y/N hit their son Will and broke his nose.” Mr. Johnson sighed.
Kara’s eyes widened behind her glasses. “What?!”
Lena’s hand fell onto Kara’s in assurance. “Can someone tell us what happened? Possibly what caused the fight?”
“Unfortunately, the teacher on duty wasn’t watching over their spout and only saw the end result.” He shrugged.
Lena immediately stood and opened the door, picking you up from your chair and bringing you inside. You’d never been inside this room before, this was the principal’s office. This was where the bad kids were sent - you weren’t a bad kid, were you?
“Y/N, honey, can you tell us what happened? The silly teacher wasn’t watching and Mama and I want to know.” Lena asked you gently, noticing how the unfamiliar surroundings and new people were scaring you.
“W-Well, I was playing in the sand pit a-and Will came to play. I di-didn’t want to play with him so I said no.”
You looked over at the scowling parents before Kara adjusted her seat so you didn’t see them, only your Mama and Mommy. “Keep going, darling. Take your time.” She cooed, brushing some tear-soaked hairs out of your face.
“N-n he didn’t like that. Mama, he took my glasses!” You took them off and showed her them -  the middle part that rested on your nose was broken.
“Did he break your glasses, honey?” She asked carefully.
“Mhm! He stomped on them.” You sniffled. “I like my glasses. B-But he says he doesn’t like them, ever. And he doesn’t like my clothes either. He says I look ugly in them.”
You watched your Mama and Mommy’s faces fall with sadness, worry building in yours. “No! Didn’t mean to make you sad!”
“Honey, did you punch Will because he called you ugly and broke your glasses?” Kara asked, not even listening to your heartbeat.
You shook your head frantically. “No, Mama! I just pushed him out of the sand pit! He tripped on the side and fell on his face, promise!”
She nodded, carefully taking you into her arms before she readjusted her seat and looked at the other parents who held Will. “Well then I think this whole situation has been sorted. Just a simple misunderstanding.” Mr. Johnson smiled sheepishly.
“I don’t think so.” Lena stood, folding her arms.
You knew this wasn’t soft Mommy - this was Mommy the Boss, and Kara took you outside of the room.
“Will has been bullying Y/N for her glasses and her clothes. He needs to learn that bullying isn’t okay.” Lena stated.
“He’s in year two, Ms. Luthor. It’s nothing more than teasing - he might even like Y/N.” Mr. Kepler replied.
“I expect my child’s glasses to be paid for, Mr. Kepler. And summing up this bullying to something so weird as Will fancying her is wrong. It shouldn’t be okay for this to happen. If this continues, Mr. Johnson, I will pull Y/N out of this school.”
With that, Lena closed the principal’s door behind her, seeing you and Kara in the reception. She immediately smiled at you and hugged you when you made some grabby hands, your head burying into her neck.
“Mommy, can we go flying later?” You asked softly.
“Of course we can, baby. Let’s go home first so we can get our special clothes on.” She answered, which was your code word for the super suits.
You were quiet on the walk to the car, which surprised the two women before they realised you were asleep. “Maybe we can go flying tomorrow.” Kara teased, gently kissing your forehead as she buckled you into your car seat.
You opened your eyes to see everybody waiting for you at home, including Uncle Mon-El and Auntie Imra with Uncle Winn. You ran up to Imra who easily lifted and hugged you, giving you sporadic kisses on your face.
“How about we go and have some fun inside? Maybe we can test out your flying!” She giggled with you.
Whilst everyone else went inside, Nia stopped Kara and Lena. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you about the bullying.”
They looked at each other before turning to her. “I dreamt about it last night when she was touching me. It was actually terrifying to watch her little mind dream that, let alone comprehend it. I know I’m not a mom, but I wouldn’t make her go back yet.”
“Can you show us the dream?” Kara pleaded, to which Nia took their hands and showed them.
It brought them to tears instantly.
“Oh, baby…” Lena whimpered, running inside to find you in your room.
“Mommy? Mama? What happened?” You asked quietly, watching them kneel in front of you before sweeping you off your feet into their arms.
“We are so sorry we didn’t see this earlier, inah.” Kara cooed, holding you tight but not too tight.
You felt those big emotions surface before tears began to run down your face, squirming further into Kara’s hold whilst Lena hugged your other side. “W-Want ev’ybody.” You muffled against Kara’s shirt.
“Yeah? Everybody?” She asked, to which you nodded.
“Hope?” Lena looked up at the ceiling.
“The members downstairs have been notified of Y/N’s request.” The AI replied.
Soon enough, they all piled in and looked down at your crying form. Nia was the first to start the group hug, with everyone piling on until you felt truly loved.
As they pulled apart, they all gave you an individual hug and some even said some encouraging words. But at the end of it, you turned to your Mama and Mommy and tackled them in a hug, making giggles spread through the room whilst you held them tightly.
“My Mamas.”

Since you did this with CRK, can you do the same for these MLP couples?
Cadence x Shining Armor
Applejack x Rainbow Dash
Lyra x BonBon (Or Sweetie Drops)
Aunt Lofty x Auntie Holiday
Tumblr media
Oh, these poor souls have to take care of another baby!! Oh no!! Jokes aside, these two would feel so blessed to have another child under their hooves and wings, no matter what species they are. The Crystal Empire can be their home, blood-related or not! Plus, on another bright side, Flurry Heart can have a new playmate! Shining Armor is doing his best to be a great dad and even lets Auntie Twilight Sparkle see this new child. He'll definitely seek out her advice if it's something he doesn't know how to handle, like how to clean scales for a dragon baby, or how to feed a pony baby bottle to a baby griffin! He doesn't know it all, but he's definitely learning all he can for his new bundle of joy. Princess Cadence has opened her heart to this new life and knows that when you grow older, she will show them that species does not matter when it comes to family, and even if they were a pony, it wouldn't make any difference. They are still her and Shining Armor's child and Flurry Heart's sibling, and they will always love you. That's what the Crystal Empire is all about after all: loving one another.
Tumblr media
These two were originally VERY underprepared. A baby!? A baby that isn't a pony!? The closest thing they ever had to that was Spike, but he's not really a baby anymore! There will be a bit of a freakout, but once things are sorted, things get on quite well. Granny Smith and Big Mac had set up a makeshift nursery for this new addition to the family, and Applejack and Rainbow agreed that they'd do their best to share most of the work with one another to take care of them. Rainbow Dash originally didn't think that they'd keep the baby for too long: maybe find a parent for them or, y'know, somebody who knows what they're actually doing with a child? But admittedly, she easily got attached to them, so she kind of has their weird familial tsundere attachment to them. She's the type to go "Pfft, she's not MY child!" but often whispers to them in secret how cool they are and gets so giddy at the thought of teaching them how to fly if the baby has wings. Maybe a baby makes her 20% cooler?
Applejack is stubborn about being a parent. This baby looks like they could be strong, and she knows how to do strong! Maybe when they're old enough, they can help around the farm! For now, though, the baby is still a baby, but "training" can start early, especially with these plastic apple toys! She... Only has apple-based toys. Twilight Sparkle and the others have to buy non-apple-related toys.
Tumblr media
Upon realizing this baby is under their care, these two would definitely have a long talk on how to work through this. They didn't have a baby on their agenda, at least not this early, but it feels wrong to just give this baby away to an orphanage or anything like that. This baby deserves some loving parents, and they both realize that they can be the right ones for that. Lyra is the "housewife" in this scenario while Bonbon works, spending most time with the baby: playing with them, feeding them, and coddling them. She even uses her talent to play the lyre to her advantage when it's nap time! She's also trying to learn what she can about whatever species the baby is to make sure that she and Bonbon can be well-prepared. If they're both going to be mothers, they're going to work together to give this newborn the best care yet! Bonbon suspiciously knows a lot more than the baby's species than Lyra does: what to do, what to avoid, how to keep the newborn healthy, etc etc. Maybe being a secret agent has good perks too outside of hunting and managing monsters. There's probably one time when she accidentally got the baby involved in a mission and had to go through it with this small child, but in the end, she and the baby get home safe and Lyra doesn't suspect a thing!
Tumblr media
Oh, how these two wished for this day! The two immediately accept this baby as one of their own since they've always, always wanted kids. They both knit clothes, introduce them to the rest of their family and friends, deliver the news to Scootaloo that she's going to be a niece, and even work hard together creating the nursery of their dreams so the baby can have their own place of rest! Aunt Holiday does her best to keep this baby happy and healthy, making homemade baby food and going shopping for whatever toys they need. There are some nights where she just cries of happiness because oh my Celestia, she and Lofty finally have a baby together... Sometimes she even tears up when she holds the baby close or watches them in their cradle. She's as happy as when she married Lofty and adopted Scootaloo. Auntie Lofty spoils the baby a bit more than Aunt Holiday does, giving the baby soft sugary stuff that they can reasonably eat and always managing to leave the marketplace with at least one thing for the baby. Holiday often scolds her a bit, saying she should chip in too, but Lofty assures her that if Holiday can spoil the baby with her own money, so can she. When Holiday cries tears of joy, she holds her close and whispers sweet nothings, and although not as emotional as Holiday is, is also glad for this blessing as well.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~3 years later
“Adam, stop trying to feed Bradley mud pies,” Nat called, hurrying over to pick up her son who in return gave her a toothy grin, whilst waving his mud-caked arms around. Little Bradley just looked around confused at the commotion, watching as his Auntie Nat scooped up Adam, who began crying in protest. “Honestly, whoever said boys are easier than girls was lying,” Nat huffed, trying to wipe the mud off her son’s chin.
“You’re telling me,” Jake replied, picking up little Bradley and swinging him round gently, causing the little boy to erupt with a fit of giggling. Little Bradley’s laugh was infectious and soon his father was laughing along with him, balancing the little boy up on his shoulders. Bradley’s chubby hands found their way into his father’s blonde hair, pulling at the tufts that stuck up. Jake had let his hair grow out a little and he now spotted a beard which while his son loved it, his wife found it ticklish.
“Come on, Bud, your mum’s gonna be waiting for us.” Jake began to walk towards your home, waving goodbye to Nat who was still trying to wrangle Adam into his pushchair, while the three year old fought tooth and nail, screaming angrily.
Jake began to hum along and soon Bradley was joining in, singing away with his father to one of the nursery rhymes he’d been taught at school.
When they reached their front door, Jake set little Bradley down, the small boy hitting the door angrily, impatiently waiting for his father to unlock it.
“Alright Bud, hang on…” but the little toddler had already dashed inside, throwing off his coat in the hallway and running off, giggling wildly. Jake chuckled, picking up the discarded coat and hanging it on the hook in the hallway before following after his son. The house was usually quiet though and as Jake neared your shared bedroom he could see why. Bradley was nestled into your side on the bed, looking down in awe at his baby sister who was sleeping peacefully, cradled in your arms. You looked tired, your hair tied loosely in a bun on the top of your head and dark circles around your eyes. Your daughter was only a few days old and was still very new to the family, but everyone was adjusting well. You were a natural mother, your maternal instinct kicked in very quickly with Bradley while Jake had taken a little longer to get the hand of things. Bradley had been ecstatic to be a big brother and had spent hours staring at the sonogram of his little sister, talking to her but was always a little disappointed when she didn’t reply.
“How’s my two favourite girls?” Jake spoke, leaning against the doorway with his arms crossed, admiring the view. You looked up at your husband, adoration evident in your eyes as you watched your little family.
“We’re good,” you replied and as if she knew your little girl began to wriggle your arms, beginning to grumble before letting out a small cry.
“Oh baby bear, what’s wrong my Darlin’?” Jake asked, lifting his daughter gently from your arms and cradling her to his chest, whispering sweet nothings to her as she calmed down.
“She just wanted her daddy,” you smiled, watching as Jake pressed his lips softly to the baby's forehead.
“It’s ok baby bear, papa bear’s got you now.”
You weren’t sure where the bear analogy had come from, but Jake was definitely a papa bear.
Your son was feeling a little left out because he snuggled deeper into your side, picking up your hand in his little one.
“Hey, Bubba, did you have a good morning with your dad?”
“YEAH!” The little boy screeched, before remembering his little sister. You all sat with baited breath, waiting for the wailing to begin, but it never came. Jake sighed, coming to sit next to you on the bed, the baby in one arm, while his other cradled your shoulders.
“Yeah, we had good fun didn’t we, Bud.” The little boy nodded eagerly at you.
“Adam was trying to feed him mud pies again.”
You laughed, “poor, Nat. Her and Sophie certainly have their work cut out with that one.”
“They sure do,” Jake grinned, he had been more than a little amused on multiple occasions when Bradley had acted like a little angel while Natasha’s son acted as if he’d been possessed.
“I can’t help but feel bad for them,” you giggled a little knowing that despite everything Nat would never change him for the world.
“Yeah, I do too, but not too often. She used to give me enough trouble now she’s just getting a little taste of her own medicine.” Jake jibed playfully and you grinned at him.
“If I remember rightly, Leuitenant Seresin, you were a bit of a trouble maker too.”
Jake opened his mouth to protest but soon fell silent as his daughter began to babble in your arms.
There was a knock at the door followed by a large crash and a few choice words before your fathers head poked around the door frame.
“Can I come in,” he whispered awkwardly, his eyes scanning the room as if he thought he’d catch you in some scandalous act with your husband.
Jake waved him in and Mav entered the room, a bunch of wildflowers in one hand and a bottle of alcohol in the other.
“Sure thing, Pops,” Jake replied, waving your father into the room. Maverick grumbled under his breath at the ‘insulting’ phrase.
“It makes me feel old.” He’d complained on more than one occasion.
“How’s my beautiful daughter?” He asked, standing at the end of your bed, eyeing the small bundle in Jake’s arms. Maverick had been away on a long distance patrol for the last few weeks, trying to find survivors and connect with other colonies.
“I’m good, Dad, just tired,” you admitted, trying to hide a small yawn.
“And who is this little precious?” Your father perched on the edge of the bed, letting little Bradley crawl onto his lap with a fond smile.
“This is little Roo,” Jake replied, smiling in awe at her as she scrunched her little face up in a defiant pout.
“Roo?” Maverick asked cautiously, watching both your faces curiously.
“Yeah, Jake named her as I named Bradley,” you spoke plainly.
“But Roo?” Your father asked again as if he could quite believe your daughter's name.
“Yes Roo, I thought it’s short for Rooster,” Jake said, watching Maverick’s face contort almost painfully at the mention of his name. “I owe him my life, and without him I wouldn’t be standing here today with my perfect family,” Jake spoke fondly, resting his hand lovingly on your shoulder as you looked up into his dazzling blue eyes.
“I think it’s… perfect,” Maverick managed to speak up, his voice breaking slightly as he became choked up.
“Oh Dad,” you reached forward, grasping his hand in yours and squeezing it gently. Your father smiled at you, eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“Well come on then, let me have a cuddle,” Mav reached forward and you carefully placed Roo into his arms. His smile was infectious as he smiled down at his granddaughter while Bradley snuggled into his side. In that moment you were at peace, as if nothing could touch your little family nestled together in your bedroom. You snuggled further into Jake’s arms that he linked around your shoulders, cradling you close as he placed soft kisses to your hair. “I love you,” Jake whispered, his lips brushing the shell of your ear causing you to shiver. “And I love our family.” Craning your neck you smiled at him. Jake looked older than when you first met him, wrinkles had begun to form at the corners of his eyes and a few gray hairs peaked through his blond locks. He was still as handsome and charming as the day you first met him, even after everything you had endured.
“I love you too and the family we’ve created together,” you reached up cupping his stubbly cheek in your palm. “I love you, Jake Seresin,” you whispered.
“I love you too, (y/n) Seresin.” Jake nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck, breathing in your scent as he held you close.
This moment was perfect and Jake couldn’t help but wish this feeling would never end.
What if the sweettooth and the readers kid go into trouble with his friends for picking on someones else’s kids or on quiets & johns kids? ( like their son is 16 and they have a daughter whose 13 and readers prego 7 months in)
IF YOU DONT FEEL COMFORTABLE ON DOING THIS pls don’t write this, I love your work btw! 💗
This can be any if you are gonna write this, headcanon or one shot I don’t mind anything!
Hey anon, thank you so much for sending your request 🙏I absolutely love writing for Sweet Tooth and I think I can make something out of your idea. I'm glad you like my silly little writings and I hope you enjoy this too. 🖤
"Awww Quiet these clothes are so cute. Are you sure I can have them?" I asked looking at the little romper in my hands. "Yeah absolutely John and I are finished with the family planning. How are you so far? Is the little one giving you trouble?" she asked putting a hand on my belly. "I'm fine but it seems she's doing jumping jacks in there. I'm more worried about Marcus actually. I think puberty hit him really hard and he gets himself into trouble everytime he has the chance." I just finished my sentence when the door swung open and my thirteen year old daughter rushed into the kitchen." Mom! Oh hi auntie Quiet. Umm mom is dad home? "." No sweetie he's still on the road with uncle John what is it? "." Marcus had a fight with the neighbors boy and his dad wants to talk to you." I sighed "See what I mean? I'm sorry Quiet I have to handle that." I held my hand out and she helped me up from my seat. Lucy and I left our house and walked down the street where I could already hear the boys father screaming at my son. "Excuse me if want to raise your voice at someone I'm over here." the man looked from Marcus to me. "Took you long enough Missy. I don't know how you raise your kids but I won't let this hooligan pick on my son!" "First of all my name is not Missy and second why don't you try to calm down and explain what my son did?" the father took a deep breath. "Your son made fun of my poor little boy because of his stutter." I was shocked, Sweet Tooth and I always taught our children not to pick on somebodys disability. I looked him straight in the eye "Is that true Marcus ?" " Yes... but mom he deserved it..." My son started "Marcus Kane junior what did your father and I tell you about this? We're not bullying people! For gods sake!" "But mom...!" " No buts, you will apologize to that boy and then we're going home!" he took a deep breath "Okay... I'm sorry. Can we go?" Marcus said and turned to leave.
33 - Resisting Urges
Part 34
Family is More than Blood
Alina’s pov
Gripping the wooden railing of the stairs I held my stomach feeling sick to my stomach. I didn’t imagine that being pregnant would be this hard. Mom made it look easy with my younger siblings. Moving into one of the empty library rooms I heard a book slam shut making me jump. “Woah. hell!”
“Uh! Why is this so difficult?” I recognized the voice of my younger cousin Andrea.
Mom had told me that she had been learning to control her newfound powers. Uncle Jackson and aunt Hayley did their best but they didn’t have the wolf temper mixed with the magic inside her. “Hey Andrea, how are you doing?”
“How does it look like I’m doing, Alina!” She snapped, throwing her hands down at her sides which resulted in some books flying up into the air and dropping down as quickly as they flew.
Standing by one of the bookshelves I paused. “Sorry, I guess I shouldn’t have asked.”
“It’s not personal. I’m just…frustrated.” She huffed, leaning her palms on the table. “Are you doing okay?”
Grabbing my stomach I stumbled to the nearest chair sitting down. Leaning back in the chair my stomach would bounce everytime I moved. “I’m hanging in there, cousin. This baby makes me tired and I can’t stop eating pickles which I hated before I was pregnant.”
“At least you’re not craving Sushi all the time. I’ve tried it and that was gross.” She made a disgusted face at the memory.
I chuckled back at her, focusing my attention back on the books she was reading. One was titled about the Gemini coven. When it came to Lizzie and Josie we knew that Uncle Ric had ripped out the pages years ago. But now that they knew it was something that was just rarely talked about. “Why are you looking into our family history? You were born with your own magic.”
“Thought it’d have some good tips to help with what I’m feeling. But so far it’s nothing. I don’t feel any better.” Andrea sighed, sitting down in the other chair at the table.
“Auntie Freya says that magic takes time. But I think I know what you mean…you have all this rage built up inside and you don’t know what to do with it. Which is why your magic is so out of control.” I responded to her.
She nods in agreement. “You’re pretty spot on.”
“It’s not like I’m a werewitch like you or anything.” I chuckled, sending her a smile.
Footsteps stomped around the corner causing us to whip our heads around seeing it was Lizzie. She was in a white sweater with black pants and boots. Hair up in a ponytail. “There you two are. I need your help with something for tonight.”
“What's going on?” I asked the siphon witch.
She drops her shoulders. “Your sister is going to Mystic High today and I want to know why. I mean I get that she’s with the muggle but still.”
“I think that’s enough of a reason. But just out of curiosity why are you concerned with it?” I shifted around in my chair.
She rolled her eyes. “Because Josie has been looking at applying there.”
“There it is. So you’re worried she will leave the school and you want to know why.” Andrea leaned back in her seat.
Lizzie huffed, not in the mood. “Can you just agree to come with me today? I don’t want to spy on the townies by myself.”
Andrea pushed herself up and out of the chair walking past the blonde witch. “I’m gonna go try and practice by the old Mill. But you two have fun.” Getting up to my feet I followed the siphon witch out and we made our way to the high school. Simply walking around in the hallway hearing two people coming our way so she used the invisible spell on the both of us.
“My mom would kick my ass if she knew I was skipping class with you.” Ethan was walking beside my sister who was hanging on his arm.
She raised a finger to her mouth. “Sssh people can still hear us talking even when we’re invisible, E.”
“I still can’t believe I’m dating a witch. Somebody like me shouldn’t be with somebody like you. But I like the excitement that it gives me.” He chuckled at her.
Missy shakes her head. “Yeah it does sound pretty cool when you think about it…”
“It is so cool as hell - Woah.” Ethan took a step forward but he slipped on some water removing his arm from hers. He fell against the locker’s holding his head and when he drew his hand back there was some blood sticking to his fingers. “Awe crap…Missy?”
Lizzie made a scoff under her breath. “I get he’s nice. But why can’t he just transfer to our school instead of being in this lame one.”
“Remind me again why you needed me here. And you know the reason is because of your dad’s rules. Keeping the supernatural creatures away from the humans. Even though that ship has sailed with my parents running the school now.” I glanced at her just enjoying my sister being happy after all these years since she had to turn because of me.
Lizzie crossed her arms over her chest. “I’m sorry, Lina. I just need a distraction from Josie.”
“Let's do something we both enjoy. We go out to the grill and drown our worries in milkshakes.” I suggested to her and she nodded in agreement looking over my shoulder. Glancing over my shoulder I noticed that Missy was pressed up against the lockers and Ethan was still bleeding from his forehead. “Oh no. She can’t handle the blood.”
Ethan stared at her. “Missy, it’s okay. You won’t hurt me.”
“You don’t know that, E. This isn’t the first time - ah!” She grunted where the veins underneath her eyes began appearing. Her hands were into fists at her sides but she could have just vamped away.
Ethan grunted getting to his feet coming over to her. He raised a hand out to her. “Missy, look at me. You’re a good person. I know you won’t hurt me. In fact…take from me.”
“Ethan, are you crazy? I don’t have good self control. I could kill you…” She gasped when I noticed her fangs were coming out into view.
He moved closer to her, not afraid from what I could tell. He held out his right arm that Josie had broken during the football game this year. “Take my blood and…I’ll take yours to heal me.”
“This is the most risky thing I’ve ever done. You can still back out.” She lowered herself down onto her knees and he followed her actions. She raised her wrist to her mouth biting down and drawing blood from her arm then held it out to him.
Ethan shifted his gaze up to hers before taking hold of her bleeding wrist. He gagged at the taste but was revealed when the wound on his head healed over. “That is wicked cool. You’re turn, M & M.”
“Here goes nothing…sorry it might hurt.” She apologized to him when he held his wrist up to her. I smiled with a proud grin watching her bite into his skin. He winced but it only lasted for a second before she drew back.
He chuckled at her, grasping her hand in his. “See you had nothing to worry about, Missy.” My twin sister smiled, laying her head against his chest when he wrapped his arms around her.
“My parents would be proud of her. We should get out of here and leave them be.” I mumbled to myself, eyeing Lizzie and so we left the high school without them knowing we were ever there.
Raelyn’s pov
Rubbing the sleep from my eyes I groaned finding myself laying up in the bedroom in the mansion. Shifting my body up onto the pillows I covered my mouth with my hand trying to hold in a laugh. “Oh my gosh…”
“Rae…what’s wrong?” My husband grumbled attempting to wake up after hearing me laughing for some reason.
Shoving both my hands over my mouth I throw my head back at the sight before me. There was a Santa Claus hat hanging on his head with a picture sticking on the part of the headboard above where he had slept. “Nothing is wrong, it’s just….I can’t take it.”
“What aren’t you telling me?” He leans forward getting in my face where the white ball on the hat fell onto my nose. He ripped it off finally seeing it. “Bloody hell, did you do this?”
Shaking my head I snatched the picture off the wood turning it around for him to see it. “Wasn’t my ideal but it’s kind of funny.” He eyed the picture that had Ethan and Landon nervously standing over his sleeping form with the red hat sitting on his head.
“Seems like last night was good for them. But if the boys ever try that again they’ll pay for it.” He warned me tossing the hat over onto the armchair in the corner of the room.
Smiling at him, this was going to be a fun morning. “Hmm. They’re just kids being kids. Just like I…we wanted them to be.”
He nodded shifting his body so he was sitting in front of me throwing on one of his gray Henley shirts that he wore around the house. I slept in one of my shirts that Caroline had given me when we did a sleepover. “So on a more serious note. How are you feeling now? Anymore visions of your uncle Joshua?”
“Not so far. But it still worries me.” I replied to him seeing the bedroom door get blown open making us both jump at the sound. Before our eyes were our younger twins, each crawling around on their knees trying to start walking for the first time. “Oh wow, Nik. They’re trying to walk.”
Lowering myself down onto the floor I held my arms out for either of them. Rapunzel made a noise and stumbled to me with some short steps grabbing the front of my shirt. “There’s my girl…ow.” Charming made his way over to me and his hand turned red against my skin.
“Raelyn?” Klaus called my name seeing me wincing.
Biting my lip I pushed through the pain finding it not that bad. “I’m okay, Nik. I’m….” My eyes began feeling heavy where I could barely keep myself awake.
“Rae, your arms. The veins they’re growing.” My husband got to his feet watching the Hollow’s magic in the form of black veins began drawing up my body like snakes. I gasped with Rapunzel trying to climb up my body but I pushed her onto the floor making her start crying. The lights in the room flashed on and off with her crying. I felt myself getting dizzy where I tried to move around but I collapsed onto the ground. “Raelyn!”
Holding my head up as much as possible i saw my vision blur in front of me. I could see someone bend down to my level where I didn't want to believe who it was. “Hey there, cuz. Did you miss me?” He had the same psycho smirk on his face.
“Kai?” I croaked out under my breath.
Charming crawled over to me gripping my wrist siphoning from me. He made a random grunt having the lamp get thrown across the bedroom. “Charming, bad.” Klaus scolded his son, picking each kid up and sitting them on the bed.
“Pretty stupid of you to consume all that magic when you have two young witch siphons in your house. They're just feeding off all this magic.” Kai or at least the version that was playing with my mind declared.
Gripping the carpet underneath my fingers I sniffed through tears. “I already beat you, Hollow. Now get out of my head.”
“Raelyn, Raelyn can you hear me?” Klaus put one hand on my back seeing me holding my head.
Pressing my face deeper into the carpet floor I just wanted this all to stop. Somebody else grabbed my chin for me to see it was my uncle Joshua this time. “I'm thr only one who can help you, little niece. He has poisoned them with darkness. They will have to merge otherwise they'll keep feeding off of you.”
“Siphoners. We just love magic don't we?” Vision Kai stood behind him.
Uncle Joshua held my chin in between his thumb and index finger. “Don't let him ruin what family you have left.”
“Shut up.” I snapped back through tears.
Kai whispered in my ear. “The Hollow and I want the same thing. To end the Mikaelson line.”
“Stop talking, Kai!” I grunted.
My husband watches so confused, not seeing anyone in front of me. He knew that the darkness inside me must be at play then. “I'm calling Freya. She'll know something.”
“No, no, no, no!” I shake my head trying to drown out the voices but it was all too much. Raising my hands above my head I skimmed them onto the ground creating a surge of magic to blast through the whole mansion.
Klaus was almost out the door by the time he got blasted into the nearest wall. Rapunzel and Charming got thrown from the bed and began crying once more. “Rae?” Klaus grunted through a disoriented daze.
“Uncle Joshua.. “ I croaked out in a raspy voice watching my husband right as everything around me went black and I passed out.
Pretty Man
(Author's note: An idea from a dream I had that I couldn't get out of my head. I hope you like it!)
****
It was about 5 in the evening.
You watched in confusion as your Mommy ran around getting things ready and packing your special bag, wondering what was going on.
You were only a little over a year old, and didn’t understand why grownups always seemed to be in a hurry, or needed everything to “look nice”; Mommy had given you an early bath and even dressed you up in one of your favorite dresses.
From what you gathered, Mommy was supposed to go to someplace called the “International” with Auntie Elaine (your godmother and her closest friend) to see somebody called “Elvis Presley” tonight, but your babysitter had canceled at the last minute saying they were sick. Not wanting to miss the show, Mommy had decided to bring you and try her best to keep you occupied; she figured the seats were close to the back anyway, so if you needed to be fed or changed, she could step out and take care of you. She just hoped you wouldn’t cause too much of a ruckus; you’d learned to walk a month ago, and you loved running around and getting into everything.
You didn’t entirely understand why Mommy liked this “Elvis” person so much, but Mommy played his music in the car all the time, and you’d seen him on TV a few times when Mommy pointed him out to you. He sung good, and he had a pretty smile, and he was always dressed in such pretty outfits that sparkled, so (in your little mind) he had to be trustworthy. You always called him the “pwetty man” (meaning pretty man; you couldn’t talk much yet and words often came out jumbled) much to Mommy’s amusement.
You sat by the door, playing with your favorite stuffed bunny as you listened to Mommy and Auntie Elaine talk, only really listening to snippets of the conversation.
“Are you sure you want to bring her? You know how energetic she gets; I mean, I don’t mind staying home if you still want to go since this was your idea.”
“Lanie, are you kidding? We waited months to get these tickets; I’m not making you waste yours to stay home and look after Y/N. She’ll be fine; I’ve got a bunch of things to keep her busy. We just need to keep a close eye on her and make sure she doesn’t run off anywhere, and we should be fine.”
“Well…all right, I trust you. Let’s go; we don’t want to hit traffic.”
****
Surprisingly, you’d gotten through the first half of the show okay; once Elvis came out, you were utterly focused on him, and you’d even giggled and clapped when he sang some of the songs you recognized like “Teddy Bear” and “Devil in Disguise”.
It was only when he got to “Love Me Tender” that there started to be a problem. You saw him go out and kiss several women in the audience, and, being a baby, you loved getting kisses from everyone. So you tried to run down to the front to get a kiss, only for Mommy to scoop you up before you even got a few steps, telling you not to run off. You whined and protested in your own way, causing a few stares, causing Mommy to take you out for a few minutes and warn that you’d go home if you didn’t start behaving. By the time she took you back in, the song was over, which left you seriously miffed. You wanted that kiss so badly!
After a few minutes, Elvis started chatting with the audience, and Mommy asked Elaine if she’d watch you for a bit while she went to the bathroom. Elaine agreed, giving you a sheet of paper and some crayons to keep you occupied.
You stayed busy scribbling for a bit, but then noticed something; Auntie Elaine had turned her back to you to start talking to someone else. Perfect; no one was watching you. Now was your chance to get to the “pretty man” and get the precious kiss you’d missed out on.
Slipping down from the chair, you rushed through the audience, treating them like an obstacle course and bumping into several people’s legs as you moved through the crowd as fast as your little legs could carry you.
Once you made your way to the stage, a large man tried to stop you by standing in front of you with his arms out, saying “Hey, little lady, you don’t belong in here! Go find your mommy.” But you just giggled and ran right between his legs, climbing the steps that led to the stage.
Some of the ladies in the audience started laughing and pointing at you as you ran towards Elvis on the stage; he didn’t notice at first since he was in the middle of telling a funny story to the audience and figured they were just laughing at his jokes.
It was only when you grabbed and hugged his leg that he realized someone else was there with him. At first, he instinctually moved to shake you off, but when he looked down and realized a baby girl was hugging his leg, his demeanor immediately softened. It was just a kid; she wasn’t gonna hurt him.
“So…aw, hello there!” He laughed as you hugged his leg. “Where did you come from, honey? You’re not really supposed to be up here, you know.” He laughed as he lifted you into his arms, balancing you on his hip. “What you want, baby?”
You tried your best to look as miffed as possible, crossing your little arms and sticking your bottom lip out before going “Pwetty man! Kith! ‘Oo mithed me!” (Meaning “Pretty man! Kiss! You missed me!”)
Elvis looked surprised. “Huh? Wait, I missed you? Oh, now how on earth did I miss a pretty little lady like you when I was givin’ out my famous kisses? I’m sorry, honey, I slipped up; I think my eyes must be goin’ if I missed you. You’re so cute; I’ll bet you deserve some extra lovin’ anyway.”
With that, he gave a tiny, innocent kiss to your lips, before proceeding to smother your face in kisses as you squealed and giggled, making the audience go “aww” as they watched.
Speaking of which, your mother had come back and realized you’d run off, and had been frantically calling your name (worried that you’d been kidnapped at first) before turning bright red in embarrassment when she saw you running on the stage over to Elvis. As he asked you where your mama was, she quickly made her way down to the front through the giggling audience and tried her best to explain to the bodyguards that the baby Elvis was currently holding was her daughter.
You giggled and called out “Mama!” As you played with and picked at the sparkly gems on Elvis’s jumpsuit, still clinging onto him. Immediately, Elvis beckoned your mother over to the side of the stage, asking if you belonged to her, and what your name was. Your mother told him, before apologizing profusely; Elvis just laughed and shook his head.
“You don’t gotta worry, ma’am; I got a daughter myself, and anybody who’s got kids knows they can take off in the blink of an eye. Your little one’s adorable; I promise, she didn’t bother me none.”
With that, he gave your mother a kiss and then a blue scarf, saying she should save it for when you get older, before moving to hand you back to her, saying “Here, honey; let’s get you back to your mama, I gotta finish the show.”
You whined and tried to cling onto him at first, causing Elvis to laugh as he gently pried your little fingers loose from his jumpsuit, with all the care of an experienced father. As your mother started to carry you back to your seat, you loudly called out “Bye-bye, nice man!” Causing the audience and Elvis to laugh as he gently called “goodbye” to you and blew you a little kiss.
Your mother was still bright red as she got back to her seat; Elaine was just laughing, saying it was a sweet moment and she took plenty of pictures for Mommy to embarrass you with when you got older.
Your mother laughed, saying “You’re never gonna let her forget this, are you?”
Elaine just smiled, saying “Never.” Before she cuddled you in her lap as Elvis started to sing “Cotton Candy Land” for you.
Something Angry This Way Comes...
(Jacqueline Dies AU: Part 2! Finally! Read Part 1 HERE >:)
---
Somebody was at her daughter's grave.
This, of course, was a possibility. Winter knew that. Of course it was. After all, she had had aunties and a grandmother and a few little friends here and there. And her father came frequently, too. He always left fresh flowers. So did she. She liked to see them. It gave her a minute sense of relief to know that he was still on this earth with her.
Even if they hadn’t talked in centuries.
She hoped he felt the same when he saw her own offering at the base of the monument that bore the name of the little girl that was taken from them far too soon.
But Wednesday was her day to visit. Wednesday was open court at city hall, which meant that everyone who would visit would be tied up in politics and stuffiness and inquiries and all sorts of bureaucratic nonsense that would keep them busy for the day. And the only other person who would visit was locked away.
Nobody was around.
That’s why she had chosen Wednesdays.
Nobody would be.
But somebody was at her daughter’s grave.
The season sped up, her brow furrowing through a layer of ice as she got closer and closer to the marker. The figure became clearer. A woman. Standing in front of the monument with her hands on her hips. Something gold clutched in her right hand. Clothed in a familiar shade of dark blue. A pile of snow-white hair, perhaps meant to be curls but not quite curling, down to her mid back. Windswept, as though she had just met the wrong side of a north wind on a particularly stormy night.
She was within shouting distance. Winter hadn’t spoken in…quite some time. Not loudly, at least. But she tried. She inhaled; she opened her mouth, about to say EXCUSE ME quite loudly and forcibly and sternly, when something snapped under her foot.
The woman’s shoulders went up; she turned slightly, staring at Winter.
She gasped. The eyes, same colour as hers but a shade or two darker. The nose, an equal mix of hers and Blaise’s, like both kids had had, but not as crooked as his. Her chin, her lips, her hairline—she knew exactly who this woman was. But how? How was it possible—it wasn’t. Not in April, and certainly not this early in the month.
The bouquet fell to the ground; Winter’s hands flew to her mouth, eyes pricking and heart racing as all the pieces clicked into place.
Her daughter was standing at her own grave.
---
This was NOT how her day should have been going. She had not expected to be standing at her own fucking grave when she woke up very much alive this morning.
She was SUPPOSED to be doing a favour for Myles. He had needed a pot to trap some kind of chaos-y shade in because he had accidentally freed it and then promptly broken the pot when he tried to trap it again. The other Legates were preoccupied and he was trying to wrangle it and couldn’t grab a pot while he was chasing the thing, and she had, of course, offered to help. After all, she wasn’t doing much else; it was April, wintery things were tapering off, there were two weeks left before Summer and Winter went on this year’s vacation, and for all intents and purposes she and Jack were done for the first part of the year and quite relieved about it, too. It had been a nasty March and Winter was presently brewing a nasty ice storm for April that Spring was sure to be very, very mad about.
So she started ransacking the manor to find a pot that looked similar enough to the one Myles had described, hoping to finish up fast because it was date night and Dite was taking her to the KEG which, yes, a totally regular ordibeing restaurant, but she loved it. The steak, the atmosphere, and how FANCY it tried to be when it really wasn’t a FANCY restaurant, when you thought about it. She thought it was hilarious (and enjoyed the steak); Dite thought she was hilarious (and enjoyed seeing her ham it up whenever they went).
While she tore through the gallery, Jack had shouted about needing to do a thing for Father Time; she shouted back a see ya, wondering if maybe there were some old vases and such in the basement that would work.
Ten seconds later, a time splinter had appeared in her room, trying it’s very best to kill her, Jack saving her ass in a nick of time, and promptly roping her into the time-related debacle he had found himself dealing with that, SURPRISE, is your problem now too, little flurry!
So off she had gone with him, into the endless expanse of timelines and alternate universes, chasing the time splinter from one universe to the next, trying to lure it to the universe that had created it so they could finally destroy it.
But the stupid sliver had gotten smart.
It had managed to separate the pair, shooting them out in two different universes. They had tried to grab each other before being shot right out of the timestream, but unfortunately both of the frosty Frosts were a little bit on the shorter side and the last thing she had seen before nearly SPLATTING on the frozen solid tundra was her fingers slip right out of her brother’s as he was dragged into a deep purple portal opposite from her, disappearing as she was sucked into her own time portal with a disgusting sounding SLURP.
She had just barely made enough snow to cushion her fall before she was unceremoniously dropped into this freezing cold universe, the portal snapping shut above her.
In her hand, the timepiece had started cracking.
“Oh no. No, no, NO, not THIS shit again,” she said desperately, hoping that when she looked at the time piece it wouldn’t be doing what she thought it was doing—and it was, yep. The purple chrono-quartz below the intricate golden lines snaped and cracked into three pieces, phasing through the time piece with a deep glow and a low thrum to match. The three pieces floated way up into the sky, then blasted forward, much to her dismay.
She watched them disappear over the horizon with a sigh, leaving a trail of purple dust in its wake.
She knew the drill. Something in this universe needed to be fixed before she could try to escape it.
So, with a sigh, she started forward, following the time trail before it disappeared completely.
---
And that’s how, an hour later, she found herself face to face with her own bloody grave.
It was a nice marker, for sure. Blues and yellows with snowflakes etched all over it, a fluffy blanket of the stuff sitting on top of the three peaks a foot or two above her head. Her name was etched into the stone, as clean as though it were carved yesterday, but the date on the stone showed otherwise. She felt her breath hitch in her throat when she read it.
556 CE.
The Day of Darkness.
She had died.
Jack had killed her dead.
“Oh,” she said, quietly. “Fuck.”
She glanced around, awkwardly; it was quiet. Empty. A wind briefly ruffled the vines and ivy twirling up the side of the monument.
The chrono quartz had gone this way. The trail, now gone, had ended right above the monument. Her monument. Her fucking GRAVE.
If she was dead, she was dead. There was no fixing that.
But there was something she did need to fix, and quite frankly, the less time she had to spend in THIS timeline the better. Timelines where she didn’t exist were one thing. But a timeline where she had died? Heebie-jeebies galore.
So, she got to work.
She walked around the monument a few times, careful not to disturb the flowers that had been left at the base. She scrutinized the thing top down, feeling more and more unsettled the longer she searched—but nothing.
The pieces weren’t there.
“But the trail...” she mumbled to herself.
With a sigh, she ran her hands through her hair, resting them on her hips. Trail had gone here. Time pieces were not here. Where had they gone, then? Had someone come by and taken them in the hour it had taken her to walk up here? Although, the time pieces could phase through objects. And planes, too. Did the pieces maybe—
There was a crunch; she jumped, startled, her shoulders shooting up.
Someone had joined her.
She turned her head, gasping when she saw who was steadily rushing up the slight incline towards her.
“Winter?!”
The woman, now in front of her, certainly looked like her mother. The small gasp sounded just like her; the height checked out. But her eyes were cold as could be, even colder than she had ever seen when her Winter had been frozen. There was no warmth on her face; her hair, usually thawed and perched in a sort of snowman esque double top bun Jacqueline couldn’t ever figure out, was frozen stiff. Her body was shaking, but her hair did not move. It was in one big, sleek bun; even the sticky-outties she had that Jacqueline had to deal with too were somehow smoothed back and in place (a miracle if there ever was one. There was a reason Jacqueline called them her hair sticky-outties).
“Oh my word,” the woman croaked. “It is you.”
She collapsed to the ground, straight up sobbing, and Jacqueline had never felt so uncomfortable in her entire life. She sighed, gently sitting down on her knees and placing a hand, very carefully, very softly, on her Mother’s knee.
“Well, yes, but also, no.”
Winter’s face shot up. “Of course not. It’s not a convergence date.”
“I gathered. I’ve never seen this place so empty in my life.”
“And you—she—you. You were little when you. When you.”
“Died.”
Winter nodded.
“Yeah, I noticed,” she said, gesturing back to the date in the stone.
“I don’t understand—”
“That makes two of us,” Jacqueline said. “You don’t happen to have three pieces of chrono quartz on you? Time crystals, I think they’re also called? They would’ve appeared very suddenly about uh,” she reached into her pocket and pulled something long and flat out. “An hour or so ago?”
Stunned into silence still, unsure what to even do or say, choking on all the emotions in her throat, Winter shook her head no.
“Dang. That would’ve made this way easier.”
“Made what easier? I don’t understand,” she said, smothering the emotions and finding her voice. “What is going on? I’d thank you kindly to explain it to me,” Winter snapped, still shaking a bit. “Who are you?”
“Jacqueline. Jacqueline Frost. Your daughter. That’s who I am. But I’m not from this timeline,” she answered, thrusting her hand back into her pocket and rummaging about. She pulled out a long, light blue, leather wallet, and cracked one of three sides open. She slid it onto Winter’s lap, pointing at the photo in the clear pocket on front, usually reserved for a licence. “This is the timeline I’m from. See? There’s me. And you and Dad,” she said, pointing to the couple above her.
Hands shaky, Winter reached out and brought the wallet up to her face. She could scarce recognize the couple in the photo. Blaise was laughing, his eyes crinkling in the corners. He held her tightly, his suit molten, his hair living up to his namesake (she missed his fiery locks). The woman beside him was even more unrecognizable. Warm. Not frozen at all. Her hair a messy double bun, with her own laugh lines to match his. They held onto each other tightly. She could almost feel the ghost of his warm embrace, the surety that came with one of his hugs.
And there was the woman in front of her. Her daughter, her baby girl. Grinning with snow falling down her face, a pale hand having smooshed a snowball right onto the top of her head as the photo was snapped. Winter glanced over, briefly, to the figure beside this Jacqueline.
That was her baby boy.
Beside her. Alive and well. Both of them alive and well.
She looked up at Jacqueline, her eyes wide. “It is you. But it isn’t. And this is how we are, where you come from?”
Jacqueline nodded, gently pushing Winter’s thumbs down. “And there’s more of us.”
Winter looked back down, moving her thumbs the rest of the way. “Oh.”
Below the two eldest were a pair of twins, most certainly. Both took after Blaise; both had fiery hair, and both were making the silliest faces you could possibly imagine. Fingers stretching the mouth of the girl, her tongue sticking out. The boy blowing a raspberry, making little bunny ears behind the girl’s head.
“Oh, look at them. Little spitfires. We always wanted to have more kids.”
“I shouldn’t ask. I shouldn’t get involved, I should just find my shit and get out of here, but holy shit, I need to know. What happened to you?” Jacqueline asked, gently sliding the wallet out of her mother’s hands.
“I—we—oh. Oh, I don’t quite know, come to think of it. Nobody’s ever asked,” she said, another sob escaping. “I—we. It. Everything was so—” she flailed her hands in the air a bit, trying desperately to find the words she wanted to say.
“It’s okay, take your time. I’m not going anywhere. Not until I find those crystals,” she said, glancing surreptitiously at the monument behind her with a frown.
“He killed you,” she finally said, her breath hitching. “You died in my arms. There was nothing we could do. The storm…it…we couldn’t get to the Springs in time and you. You died.” She pressed the base of her palms to her eyes with a shaky inhale. “He ran. Your Father and I laid you to rest. We watched your little tiny body pop off into Rosehaven. And then we had to face what would come next.”
“Both kids gone in different ways,” Jacqueline mused, looking thoughtful.
Winter nodded, without looking up. The icy white dress she wore blurred beneath her tears. She sniffled. “Yes. And your father, he had to find your brother. But he couldn’t bring himself to start, he was feeling so much—and he hardened his heart not long after I did the same to myself.”
“Oh,” Jacqueline said, realizing what had probably happened. Blaise was a very dutiful sprite, though very emotional. And she had heard the stories from the both of them, about the war of succession, and how Blaise had tried, fruitlessly, to reason with him, not wanting to hurt his brother—but learning that if he wanted to end it, do what needed to be done…he’d have to put aside those feelings to focus on the task at hand.
And so he had.
“We drifted, I suppose. We didn’t talk; he threw himself into trying to bring you justice,” Winter said, gently laying her hand on Jacqueline’s cheek. Her breath hitched again; Jacqueline brought up her shoulder, squishing Winter’s hand between it and her cheek with a soft smile.
“That wasn’t going to bring me back,” Jacqueline said softly.
“That’s what I told him!” Winter said with a huff. “He didn’t reply. A conversation with him was rare. So, I found solace in the mountains. And eventually I made them my home,” she said, with a helpless little shrug.
“So I died, and you ran off to the mountains and became the new Snow Queen.”
"I suppose...yes. I did.”
“Why not come see me on a convergence? They aren’t rare. They happen once or twice a year.”
“I couldn’t bring myself to. Neither of us could.”
Jacqueline stood up. “So let me get this straight,” she said, her prior annoyance coming right back, with a slight pinch of anger dusted on top. “I died, and instead of supporting each other and sharing your grief, you and Blaise both decided to harden your hearts and run away from home? And you didn’t come to see me?!”
“Your father didn’t run away from home,” Winter said, standing up gracefully and folding her hands in front of her. “He’s still there.”
“But he ran away from his home,” Jacqueline said, pointing at Winter’s heart. “And so did you. All the way up in the mountains! And you left me alone, waiting?!”
“I visit you every week!” Winter snapped. “So does your father!”
“You visit my MARKER! NOT my ME! I can guarantee you, Winter, that that little girl sat and waited on the other side for the very first convergence after she passed, hoping to see her Mom and Dad and Brother again.”
“HOW could you KNOW that?!”
“BECAUSE I AM HER! And I may not have died, but when this,” she said, gesturing violently at the date on the stone, “happened to me, and I recovered BECAUSE you and Dad worked together to keep me stable UNTIL you could blaze a trail to the springs, I waited! Every day, for so long, I sat and waited and hoped that he’d come back but he didn’t. And now, now, I’m learning, that not only did he not come back, nor did my PARENTS?!” Jacqueline let out a little squawk of rage, stomping around this version of her Mother. “She’s still a little four-hundred-year-old girl over there! Do YOU think she understands all THIS?!” Jacqueline said, gesturing at all of Winter. “NO! SHE DOESN’T because I DIDN’T until I was like, fourteen hundred! And she doesn’t get that luxury. She doesn’t get to grow up and figure it out herself, so the LEAST you COULD’VE done was gone to visit her during a goddess damned convergence!”
Winter was stunned. What horrible things to say, she thought. But they were true. And Jacqueline was right. Winter felt…lost. More so than usual. A lot of. Things. Were coming to the surface and she was utterly speechless.
“Nothing to say? That’s not surprising, you’re about as frosted up as they come, eh Mom? I’ll leave you to your fake visit, then,” Jacqueline said, stomping back down the way Winter had come up, a trail of frost sprawling out from her boot every time one hit the ground.
“Wait! Jacqueline! Where are you going?!”
“HOME,” she said angrily, flashing one last frustrated look back up at Winter before disappearing on the spot.
Winter was left to her solitude once more. Alone. She should have been relieved.
But she wasn’t.
“Home…” she murmured to herself. She gasped, eyes growing wide. “Oh dear,” she said, setting off after Jacqueline.
---
How had this day gotten so out of control?!
She couldn’t believe what she had seen. First her own grave, then a mother so far lost in her grief she was barely recognizable? And learning what had happened? The Convergences existed for a reason—to see the loved ones you had lost, if only for a brief night. It was a nice time! It was fun! Roseterra glowed and would be filled with both the living magibeans and the dead, laughing and catching up and talking about what they had missed on both ends of the things, and god if she had died, she knew she would’ve waited in the hopes she’d see Mom and Dad and Jack again and—
“Oh my gods. Jacqueline. FOCUS,” she said to herself, as she pushed open the rusty gates and stomped up the pathway. The roses were sad. Wilting, but not dead. The ground looked weird, not covered in snow but frozen solid. The Manor loomed ahead. Pristine as the day it was painted white. Not a scorch mark in sight. The windows were dark and cold; not a single light was on. Her home, usually cheery and loud and happy, was cold. Cold, dark, and empty.
“This is all sorts of fucked up,” she said out loud.
What was she going to do today originally? Oh yeah! Find a pot, trap a. Thingy, then enjoy a steak at the Keg with the love of her life. Perfect day! Would have been a PERFECT day!
But now she had seen her own grave, confronted her lost in grief mother, yelled at her for ignoring her daughter even though she was dead, and was now stomping up the derelict stairs to the front porch of Frost Manor, the wooden deck boards greying, not a single piece of colourful mismatched patio furniture in her sights. What even was this place?
She didn’t bother to knock; she tried the door.
It wasn’t locked.
The door swung in with a creak, a cold gust of wind blowing down the hallways. It echoed, a low hum throughout the empty halls. The ghost of what could have been. The windowpanes rattled; the cobwebs, built up over time, gently waved in the draft. She ran a finger along one of the shoe racks as she closed the door, a trail left in the dust.
She walked in, the metallic clink of her boots echoing throughout the cold marble hall. The door to the front room with the window she waited under was closed shut. Ha, she thought, the symbolism not lost on her.
The blue parlour was closed, too; she tried the handle. Locked. Made her way into the kitchen.
It looked lived in. It was cleaner than the rest of the house. The plants that Spring kept giving them still sat in their perches, but they had seen much better days, most certainly; and there were less of them than she remembered. She stepped around the table (noting that the leaf had been taken out and it had been brought down to its smallest possible size) and poked her head into the living room.
Empty. Pristine. Dusty. Cobwebby. Severe lack of throws and cushions.
“Oh, Dad. What have you done,” she mused, leaving the doorway and heading back out into the hall. She glanced up the stairs. It was dark as ever up there, the draft howling down the steps. She shoved past, beelining to the other side of the steps.
Ballroom. Library. Closed. No light.
But the office…the dullest glow under the crack.
She stepped carefully; lightly, like the first few snowflakes that slowly drifted in on the wind, landing on the ground softly. Quietly. She placed her hand on the doorknob. She frowned. Maybe…just to be safe.
She knocked; her fist flattening, splayed out on the door.
There was no answer.
She turned the knob, opening the door a crack. Peeking one eye in, she glanced around.
The fireplace was on, but not roaring. The embers softly cackled, the fire out of food. Jacqueline stepped through the door, glancing around the office. The firewood was right where he kept it, back at home.
She grabbed a couple of smaller logs, not quite twigs but not quite sticks, and gently lay them in the fireplace. She may not have been able to create fire, but Blaise sure as shit made sure his kids could start fires regardless of their elemental backgrounds.
The flames licked the logs hungrily, the simmer becoming a crackle. Satisfied, Jacqueline moved away from the fireplace, trailing her fingers on the solid mahogany trim of the desk as she surveyed the office.
It was certainly lived in, that’s for sure. The chair was worn, the cushion in dire need of reupholstering. The desk was a tidy mess, piles of paper stacked neatly. Orderly. It was a stark difference from her dad’s office back at home, with papers laying around all over the place, pens and quills beside half written notes, the coaster sporting rings from numerous warm drinks.
The coaster on this Blaise’s desk was too clean. Far too clean.
There was a thunk out in the hall. The door slammed shut; a heavy footfall approaching. Jacqueline gasped, turning quickly to face the door. The coaster went flying, hitting the mantle as loud as it possibly could, and falling to the ground with a clatter, making sure to do three flips before settling for MAXIMUM NOISE, of course. Just her luck on this fine, fine, day.
“Who’s there?” a voice said. It was familiar, but also…not. It was gruffer than usual; a little hoarse. And there wasn’t much warmth. Yeah, a weird sentiment, but when her dad spoke, you could just feel a sort of warmth, usually. She backed up, behind the desk, finding herself shifting into a defensive stance and unsure why.
“I heard you drop the coaster,” he said, his footsteps coming towards the office. “Final warning. Who’s. There.”
The door was shoved open, and Jacqueline gasped once again, this time, in surprise.
“What the fuck happened to you?!” she said, equal parts confused and almost…disgusted, the same time that Blaise growled and said, “Who the hell do you think you are?!”
It wasn’t that he looked bad. He just didn’t look like Blaise. Like, he did but he didn’t. Granted, Jacqueline had never actually seen what a frozen summer sprite looked like. Or I guess stony, she thought, as she quickly eyed him up and down, still in her defensive stance.
His fiery hair was out, but not the usual greying-orange. It was dark. Ashen. Grey flakes drifted down every so often. It was a fire that had burnt completely, leaving nothing but ashes in its wake. His usual molten suit was dark as obsidian. Like lava that had rapidly cooled. His face was lined, but not in the way she was used to; he looked frownier than he did at home, his smile lines faint as could be. Though she could make out the faint crinkles of crow’s feet still near his eyes. It should’ve been a welcome sight, you know? Like, maybe her Dad was still in there somewhere.
But it was not. It only made her feel more unsettled.
“Like, did someone like, set you on fire with fire that wasn’t like, fire you’re fireproofed to? Is that ash coming off of your HEAD?!”
“I don’t answer to you,” Blaise said, taking another step into the office. “You answer to me. You’ve broken into my house.”
“You left the door unlocked! I’d hardly call that breaking and entering.”
“Who are you, and what are you doing in my house?”
“You don’t know who I am?”
“I know who you look like, but that’s not possible. There’s no way. Tell me, is this a trick? Is he trying something? Centuries without a peep, and now this? Was he biding his time? You sound just like him.” He took a step closer with each question, Jacqueline stepping back with each of his steps. He rounded the desk as she rounded the other side, the door now behind her. “You have ten seconds,” he said, with a fierce air of finality.
Jacqueline inhaled, shoved her hands in her pockets, and spoke very, very fast.
“I am exactly who you think I am but also not quite! I’m not from this timeline, I’m from a different one and I have proof, here you GO,” she said, tossing her wallet at the ashen man in front of her. “And please don’t burn it. It has all my ID in it. Which is kind of important. I still get carded at the LCBCS.”
Blaise looked up at her, his orange eyes stony. Suspicious. His lips were pressed together in a tight line, but he humoured her; he had been presented with evidence, after all. Fair is fair. He watched her wearily, cracking open the wallet without looking.
“Clear pocket. Right on the first fold.”
“Hands where I can see them,” he growled.
“Alright, alright, chill,” Jacqueline said, putting her hands up and glaring right back. “Take a looksie. See for yourself.”
Only when her hands were above her head did Blaise glance down at the photo.
His breath hitched. He tried to take it all in at once; all six figures. He glanced back up as he reached the middle, matching the young woman in the photo below him with the young woman looking a little more pissed off with each passing second in front of him. The Jack look, as Winter once called it, when he saw his eldest beside this version of Jacqueline. And below them, below the frosty pair, was a fiery pair, making goofy faces. Summer sprites. Like him.
Twins.
“They get along?”
“Too well some days, which would be worrying if they didn’t occasionally tackle each other down for a quick little fistfight. But like, they’re not going to start a war, since we both know that that’s what you’re thinking about, eh?”
Blaise didn’t reply. He glanced back down at the photo. He snapped his fingers, a little flame appearing on his pointer finger. He touched it to the wick of the candle beside him, surveying the photo in better light. Winter. His darling wife. Toasty warm and laughing, looking up at him with all the love in the world. The flame flickered; he looked at the man beside her. Lit up like the goat in Sweden during the holiday season, all smiles and laughter. He tilted the photo. The glare from the candlelight obscured it, his own stony face looking back at him instead.
He fell back into his seat, shoving the wallet across the desk as he collapsed, holding his head in both hands, completely messing up his ashy hair.
“What is going on here.”
Jacqueline put down her hands, heading over to the east side of the office. “Well, in the timeline I’m from, I survived,” she said, dragging over the spare chair. “You and Mom staunched the bleeding and stabilized me. Kept a close eye on me until you could get to the springs and finish the healing process. You, mostly. Once the wounds were taken care of, Mom passed right out,” she finished, the chair stopping in front of his desk. “But right when it happened, you worked together. And you both saved me. Amazing what happens when you work together, instead of, you know, hiding away from one another and hardening your hearts and not talking ever at all and ALSO, not VISITING ME!”
“HEY. I visit you every day! Except Wednesdays. Town Hall is on Wednesdays.”
“And convergences,” Jacqueline snapped, slamming her hands on the desk before sitting down on the chair, surveying Blaise with a very, angry look. “You don’t come on the one day you could actually see me. What the fuck, man.”
“Watch your language, missy. You may be from a different timeline, but I’m still your father.”
“You’re actually nothing like my Blaise,” Jacqueline said with a sniff, leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms. “He—”
“SAVED you. I get it. I didn’t. I couldn’t.”
“No. I mean yeah, he did. But no. He was there for his family. Looks to me like you haven’t been. They needed you, Blaise. And you did this instead. And I know for a fact that you needed them, too.”
“I—” Blaise stopped, opening and closing his mouth. He frowned, clasping his hands together and placing them in front of his face, lost for words.
“Mhmm. Yeah. That’s what I thought,” she said, shifting in her seat. “Look, I won’t be all up in your, uh, ash for too long, Blaise,” she said. “I came for one thing. Well, two things, actually.”
“What, to yell?”
“No, that just comes with the territory. I am a very angry sprite. It’s very inconvenient most days.”
“You inherited my temper, I see.”
“Regrettably,” Jacqueline said, scrunching her face. “But that’s not important right now. What I need to know is why the hell. This!” she said, gesturing to him. “Why did you do this?”
Blaise’s posture, up until then, had been immaculate. But when the ghost of his daughter demanded to know why this had happened, his shoulders fell; his back slouched, his stony façade turned sad. “You were murdered,” he simply said. “By my son. Your own brother. I couldn’t let him go unpunished! You died. But he was—he is my son. But you were—are—my daughter! My emotions were blinding me to what needed to be done, once again, and so I—”
“Got stoned.”
Blaise frowned. “Har-har,” he said, unlaughingly.
“I don’t like puns,” Jacqueline clarified.
“A shame,” Blaise said back. “That was a good one.”
“I never would’ve guessed,” Jacqueline snapped back. “So you did this, and then went on a whole catch me if you can kind of journey with Jack?”
“He needed to be brought to justice! You needed justice!”
“DID I?” Jacqueline demanded, shooting out of her seat. The chair teetered behind her briefly, choosing not to fall over. “Because I am DEAD. I don’t need ANYTHING when I’m DEAD, Dad. And here’s the thing, right? We’re not ordibeings. We’re MAGIBEINGS. And our afterlife actually lets us VISIT WITH THE DEAD ON CERTAIN DAYS! YEARLY! SOMETIMES TWICE A YEAR! So instead of going to see me on a convergence, you decided you knew what I needed and just, just, became obsessed with this chase and for what? I’M not the one who needed justice. You thought that I did. That you did. But that’s not what you needed and we both know that, don’t we?”
“How could you know all of this?”
“Because I AM Jacqueline! I am that little girl who died in her mother’s arms, but I didn’t die! And do you know what I did when I got better, Dad? Hmm? I WAITED. I waited for my brother to come home, and he never did. So I can guarantee that your little girl waited convergence after convergence, hoping to see you and Mom and even JACK, but none of you came! None of you came! You left her waiting. Left ME waiting!”
“We couldn’t—I couldn’t. I couldn’t bring myself to go and face you after all that had happened—”
“Save it. I’m not the one who needs to hear it. She is. And she’s not here. I am.”
She took a deep breath in, composing herself, pushing off the desk and heading towards the door.
“I’m going to go now before I EXPLODE. Just one more thing before I go,” she said, turning around. “You wouldn’t happen to have come into possession of three time crystals about, oh, an hour and a half or so ago?”
“Some what?”
“That’s a no, then? UGH. Lady damn it ALL,” she said, stomping down the hall.
“Jacqueline, wait!” Blaise called after her, rushing to catch up with her. “Where are you going?”
“I have one more place to check for those time crystals. You and I both know where I’m headed next,” she said, a literal icy undercurrent in her voice. “Tell me where you put him.”
“I—you can’t. It’s too dangerous.”
“Like hell it is! I can handle myself, and you know that if you don’t tell me I’ll find out one way or the other, Blaise. So tell me. Where. Did. You. Put. Him.”
Blaise sighed. “We built an entire prison just for him. The rehabilitation programs at the Pen did nothing for him; he refused to even try. He escaped multiple times, and each and every time I was there, ready to find out how and stop it from ever happening again. One too many escapes later, and the Assembly decided to fund a whole new prison just for him. A solitary. That’s what we’ve called it. The Solitary. It’s in the East.”
“Oh my goddess of the springs. A whole ass prison just for him? This is the worst timeline I have been in today. I hate it here. Right, I’m gonna head out and do that, and you know what you’re going to do? YOU’RE going to go to your wife and give her a hug, for Frost’s sake! You need your loved ones, Blaise. Stop being stupid.”
And before he could reply, she stomped out the front door and poofed into a shower of light blue sparks and snowflakes, disappearing.
“Jacqueline!” he shouted, though he knew his efforts were in vain.
She was long gone.
The shout echoed. But it sounded…off. It sounded…
It wasn’t his voice.
He stepped out onto the porch. A figure stood by the gates. Graceful; shapely.
He’d recognize her anywhere.
“Winter?” he said, quietly.
“Blaise,” she replied, just as quietly.
Something had changed. Something shifted. They both stared across the path at each other, the winds howling.
They ran.
They both ran, beelining down the path, crashing into a familiar, comforting embrace. She still smelt the same; Blaise pressed her head close to his chest, breathing her in deeply. And he was still so sturdy; his hugs were still so very comforting, Winter was happy to learn, as she pressed herself against his chest, her ear on his heart. Hearing it beat.
“I’m so sorry,” they both said at the same time, still hugging one another.
“I don’t know why I didn’t open up,” Blaise said. “I’m sorry. I should have shared with you. I should have supported you.”
“And I you,” Winter said, squeezing him tighter. “I’ve had the strangest encounter today, and I... I needed you. Need you. Miss you.”
Blaise sighed, content, squeezing her tightly. “And I you. Tell me something, Winter. Did you see an adult Jacqueline today?”
“I did,” she said, pushing herself off his chest to look up at his face. She placed her palm on his cheek, rubbing it softly with her thumb. She smiled. “Did you?”
“I did, too,” he said, placing his chin on top of her head. The tinniest peck pressed onto his neck. His heart fluttered; sparks drifted up from his head. “She yelled at me. A lot.”
“She yelled at me, too. But she said some things that got me thinking, and brought it all back. As if seeing our fully grown dead daughter wasn’t enough, she was also. Oh. There’s this phrase the winds have whispered to me...ah! Yes. She was spitting facts, and all of that brought everything back. I don’t know why I shied away from you, darling. I needed you. I need you. I love you. And I’m sorry.”
Now Blaise pulled away, his large hand on Winter’s small face. He gave her a warm smile, rubbing her cheek as well. “Not as sorry as I am. I need you, too. So much. I love you,” he said, kissing the top of her head. “And I’m sorry for pulling away and throwing myself into the stupid game of cat and mouse Jack and I played—oh. Oh shit,” Blaise said, blanching.
“What? What’s wrong?”
“Jacqueline. She's heading his way,” Blaise said, squeezing Winter’s arms. “We need to hurry. I don’t know what she’s planning on doing, but if she’s headed towards him...”
“There is no way that could possibly be good,” Winter agreed, rushing after Blaise, the two heading east as fast as they could.
---
Deny it all as he might, she’s still always just there.
It was very irritating.
She’s stopped giggling; there’s no whispers of whoops or silly sounds anymore. She’s just there, looking sad, and he brings the book closer to his face so he doesn’t have to see the ghost he trapped in the Solitary with him. The Solitary. He really oughta think of a better name.
But he just doesn’t have the energy, the drive, the…whatever.
There was a reason he froze the place solid and stayed put.
He tried to focus on his book. Reading the same sentence, over and over. He exhaled, annoyed, putting the book down and expecting to see her in front of him.
But she’s gone. There are no flickers of white or quick wisps of messy dark hair turning a corner.
It’s empty. The wind blows through the area, mournfully. Even with the furniture he had gotten, the other odds and ends, it is still loud and echoey. He sighed.
Creak.
What was that?
He strained his ears. The creaking was getting louder, shifting into a loud CRACK, somewhere above him. He looked up so fast he almost gave himself whiplash.
The ceiling was splitting.
“What?” he croaked, his voice not as hoarse as you’d expect.
Down the hall, there was a smack. A bang. A shink or two. A thunk against the wall, and a low groan.
“Marcel?” he called out.
Footsteps were approaching, but they didn’t sound familiar. They’re boots. There’s a weird metal click to them. He shot up, hands aglow, ready for whatever. Whoever was coming his way.
But nothing could've prepared him for who stepped through the tunnel.
She was an inch or two shorter than him; very much most definitely a winter sprite. She stopped in the doorway, looking at him unimpressed, an eyebrow raised. He found himself backing up; he could see the similar features, and his thoughts drifted back to the ghost of the small girl he was always seeing. Add a touch of roundness and a bit of baby fat and unfreeze the hair, and, well.
It’s her. It’s one hundred percent her.
“Marcel’s DEAD,” she said.
“What?” Jack asked, what little colour there was in his face draining.
“Ha! I’m kidding. He’ll be fine,” she replied with a small, impish smile. It dropped suddenly; she squinted. “Probably. So quick question for you, Jack,” she continued, walking right up to him without a care in the world. “Was the several meters of ice to keep people out? Or keep you in? Because let me tell you, it was a shit job. I cracked through it easily.”
“You can’t be here,” he heard himself saying. “You shouldn’t be here! You…I…”
“YEAH. I am AWARE. You killed me dead. This is the FOURTH TIME TODAY someone has REMINDED ME, as if you can easily shake coming face to face with your own damn grave marker,” she said with a huff. “So what’s you’re deal? I’m surprised you let yourself get captured. My GOD you look frosty,” she finished, right beside him now. She knocked on his frozen spikes.
“Hey! Cut it out,” he snapped, pushing her hand away.
“No need to be nippy,” she sassed back, hands on her hips.
Jack straight up recoiled. He was pretty damn positive now: the sprite in front of him was his long dead sister. A little younger than she would’ve been now, had she survived. Had she lived. Had he not…killed her. He backed up a few steps, the edge of the plush seat hitting the back of his knees.
All the thoughts, all the feelings, all of the things he had wondered that he had pushed down down down came screaming up to the surface as he collapsed into his chair.
For once in his life, he found himself utterly speechless.
“Okay, so I’m going to guess you’ve just been living in denial,” his sister said, not a ghost but actually real, and alive, and in front of him. “You sit there and process, I don’t plan on being long. I’ve about HAD IT up to HERE,” she half yelled, putting her hand high above her head, “with this AWFUL timeline. You know how my day started, Jack? I just needed to find a pot for Myles. That’s it! To trap a little chaotic shade! And NOW I’ve been pulled into yet ANOTHER alternate universe, and goddess above, I thought the one where Bernard and I were a THING was bad, this one is by FAR worse!” she said, her arms crossed at her chest briefly before she dropped them, the ground around her cracking in response. “I’ve already tried Mom, and Dad, and if you don’t have what I need then I am going to have to do something very, very crazy that only one other person I know of has done before and lived to tell the tale. Did three time crystals, little purple-ish quartz looking things, appear around you about, uh,” she pulled something out of her pocket and squinted at it. “Three hours ago?”
Still speechless, Jack shook his head no.
“Goddess damn it ALL!” his very alive, very angry little sister said, throwing her hands down and stomping her foot. The cracks below her deepened. “I have a GIRLFRIEND, I don’t have the option to seduce a powerful castor right now!”
“You have a girlfriend?” Jack found himself asking.
“What, you got a problem with that?”
“No, of course not, I—”
“Yeah, I know dude. I’ve met some of your partners,” she said with a smirk that made Jack blush a bit and clear his throat. “Some of them are real cool. There’s one that Fiera’s like, determined to fight for some reason that’s very baffling to all of us—”
“Who’s Fiera?”
“Oh. Right,” Jacqueline says. “I died so the twins never came around, right. Here you go,” she said, throwing a long leather object his way.
Snatching it clean out of the air, he flipped open the unbuttoned side, coming face to face with a wallet sized family photo.
“Fiera’s the girl on fire, and Fino’s her twin, the boy who is also on fire. The universe I come from, where I survive, they exist.”
Jack stared at the him in the photo, happily smooshing a pile of snow on his Jacqueline’s head, their younger siblings below them making funny faces, and their parents above them, together, lost in each other’s eyes. He felt a pang in his chest as he came to the quiet realization that, oh. He kind of. He kind of missed them.
A pale hand stretched out in his peripheral. He glanced over; Jacqueline had her hand out, looking unimpressed. “Wallet please,” she said.
He snapped it closed, passing it back to her.
“Thank you,” she said, shoving it back in her pocket. She turned on her heel, heading back out the way she came.
“Wait! Don’t. Don’t go yet,” he said, unsure why but knowing he couldn’t let her leave just yet.
She stopped in the doorway, standing still; head tilted.
“I didn’t—I never meant to. It wasn’t my intent—” he took a deep breath. “You know, right? You know it wasn’t. That I didn’t. That I—”
“Never wanted to hurt me,” she said softly, still not turning around. “It was an accident. You were having a big emotions night and your powers were going crazy, and your hand slipped. Yeah. I know. You told me. That is, my you told me.”
His shoulders sagged; he could feel something...wet trailing down his cheeks. He touched his cheek, brushing away tear tracks of all things.
His sister watches. For the briefest of moments, as their gazes meet, the fury falls away. She looks so very concerned, and he can see her hands twitch upwards, not in defence or offence but as though she wanted to reach out and give him comfort.
“I’m sorry,” he finally said, voice barely a whisper.
And then it’s gone. The fury is back. She took a deep breath in, nostrils flaring. “It’s not me who needs to hear that,” she replied, rage withheld. “It’s her.”
And for a moment, he feels her. The little ghost he trapped in the solitary with him. He whips around.
A flicker of white.
A tress of dark hair, disappearing round the bend.
He turns back around.
The other ghost, the real one, is gone.
---
Stepping over the unconscious guards and hopping out of the Jacquie-sized crack in the ice she had made, Jacqueline stopped, bending over, hands on her knees.
She could feel herself breathing very fast. Her heart was racing; there was a nasty heat behind her eyes. She wanted so badly to just stop, and cry, and sob, because holy shit. Holy FUCKING shit. This day is so. What the fuck. This TIMELINE is so. What the fuck.
“OKAY Jacqueline,” she said out loud, snapping back up. “Focus.”
Her voice sounded heavy. She took a deep breath in; held it a bit, staring at the tips of her fingers before finally exhaling. “We can have a nice long frustrated cry later, when we’re NOT trying to escape the JACQUELINE DIES timeline.”
Another deep breath. Her hands pressed together, in front of her face. Her nose scrunched, forehead wrinkling as she thought of her next steps.
“I need to break into Rosehaven,” she mused, tapping her lips. “Which means, off to the east I go! I’ve got a wicked old witch to see. But first!”
Turning around, Jacqueline rested her palms on the icy walls beside her exit. With a fierce look of concentration, hands aglow, the ice beneath her grew, covering the dent she made, a smooth patch appearing right over the jagged, pointy, inside out job.
“There we go,” she said, surveying her work, hands on her hips. “All patched up! Now onto the hard part,” she thought out loud, turning to face the mountains in the distance.
Two sharp peeks protruded in the night, a little structure on the tip of each one. The cliffs below them were dotted with hundreds of other huts and shacks and cottages, windows glowing in the dark, foliage twirling all over the settlement.
She took a step towards the skyline. Then another. On the third step, she disappeared, a bright flash of light blue light in the quickly darkening evening.
---
Something felt...different.
Jack tried to go back to his book and his plush chair, but found that for once, he was unable to shove all the feelings deep, deep down and go about his not-so-merry way. They were coming up; his insides were on fire. His cheeks wouldn’t stop getting wet.
Everything he had held back for years was coming up, and he couldn’t do anything about it.
He stepped out into the hall. Tentatively. Sort of surprised but not quite when nothing happened.
The barrier seemed to be down.
The guards were slumped against the walls, carefully placed in somewhat comfortable positions. Their weapons were abandoned; Jack waved his hand, a north wind billowing through the hall. It picked up the weapons, and, at his command, tossed them deep, deep, deep into his personal quarters.
A quick scan of the guards. They seemed okay; a little worse for the wear, but Jack didn’t see any blood or broken bones.
“Marcel?” he asked, crouching beside the guard closest to the door. He waved his hand in front of Marcel’s face.
The man groaned, unmoving.
Fine. Probably. Just like she had said.
Standing back up, Jack frowned, deep in thought.
He needed to move, to act, to do something.
But what?
He figured he had a few minutes, if he was lucky, before the guards get back up and were able to recast the barrier again. He stepped back; something rolled under his heel, crunching.
Marcel’s wand, snapped in two.
Well, so much for the barrier, then.
Alright. Good. More time to, to think. To decide. To figure something out.
He thinks back to the angry ghost. Something she had said. There was something there that had his fae senses screaming. A quick run through their conversation until—
I have a GIRLFRIEND, I don’t have the option to seduce a powerful castor right now!
“Oh no,” Jack said, paling.
He knew exactly what she was going to do.
But she’s dead! If this version of her were to try it...
“She’ll be trapped,” Jack realized.
With that in mind, his decision was easy as could be. He couldn’t save her then.
But he could save her now.
He straightened. Shook out his arms; his shoulders. His fingers crack. He lifts a foot, then slams it into the ground.
Around him, the prison shuddered. It began to shake. The fault lines she had left grew larger. Chips of ice rained down around him. He sliced a hand through the air. The walls on his right began to splinter and fracture, the light within growing dim as the place rumbled. He sliced his other hand through the air, the walls on his left mirroring their reflections.
He moved both arms up again, and sliced them both down through the air with a whoosh.
The walls didn’t just break.
They shattered.
The ceiling came down, the ice chunks bouncing off of the air above Jack, slamming into the ground around him.
In seconds, the entire icy exterior crumbled, the walls he had frozen so long ago coming down with it.
Outside, the sky is dark. Reddish purplish. The sun is going down in the distance. The air is fresh, if a little cold, and sharp. He inhales it, deeply. It’s wintry. Quite odd for the Eastern Province, but Autumn was known to have a bit of a chill, and Jack was certain that his presence here had effected the weather patterns a good amount, too.
Besides, what was a little more oddness? This whole day had been weird already, and it was only going to get weirder.
He stood still until the prison finished crumbling around him. The guards were unscathed; chunks headed their way magically redirected themselves, landing away from them. It’s the least, Jack thought, that he can do for them. After all, they had been very kind to him, and they hadn’t needed to be at all. Not for him. a criminal; a murderer. Of sisters. His own sister.
"Snap out of it, Jack!" he scolded himself, shaking his head and turning on the spot.
Onto business, he thought, straightening his jacket. Doing up a button and readjusting his cuff links. Glancing wearily at the pointy mountains in the distance.
There is only one castor he knows of that will happily help Jacqueline.
The same one who had helped him centuries ago.
Ice and dust drifting about, the Witch's Peaks in his sights, Jack made his way forward, determined.
But three steps in, a tiny gasp reached his ears.
He stopped dead in his tracks, tilting his head; listening.
Something…someone was there.
And though it was just a tiny little gasp, it rang familiar. So very familiar.
But that wouldn’t make sense, Jack thought. She wouldn’t be here. It couldn’t be…
“JACK!”
Him too?
Okay, now he was a little scared.
He turned on his heel, looking behind him. Two figures stood together in the distance. One was calling for him; a loud, recognizable voice. He could make out the shape of his palm up against his mouth, his other hand clasped tightly in the hand of the woman beside him. A whole head or so shorter than him, her other hand was in front of her mouth, gently hovering above a shocked ‘o’.
“JACK!” he called again.
“Dad?” Jack said, quietly. “Mom?”
The dust rippled between them. The air finally cleared, revealing Blaise and Winter, his parents, standing hand in hand a short distance away, staring at him with unreadable expressions, as rooted in place as he was.
---
“Look. Gwen. I already TOLD you, I don’t know WHY there’s such an uptick in chaos right now! NOR do I know WHY the air tastes like dark magic!”
“That is BULL and you know it, Cheri.”
“I would LOVE to take credit for this, but I have no idea what this is, girlie. And you know I’m telling the truth! Your goody-goody magic can sense it.”
“Okay, yes, but you’ve messed with it before! and you LOVE lying it's one of your FAVOURITE things!”
“It really is, but listen. Gwen. I’m using your name. not your little nickname. Obviously, I’m being legit right now. Look, don’t get your tutu in a twist, alright? I’ll look into it and if it’s bad bad, I’ll take care of it!”
The door to a small room opened, a witch swathed in black and red waltzing in, huge fuck-off combat boots clunking on the hardwood floor. With a roll of her eyes, she tossed her hat onto the mantle and stopped dead in her tracks when she noticed the woman perched on her desk.
“Your Grand Darkness,” the woman purred, saccharine, miming a curtsy while staying seated.
Cheri recognized her instantly. She smirked. “Ou. This is gonna be good.”
She turned on her heel, Gwen smacking right into her chest.
“CHERI!”
“Sorry Glenda, I’m a bit busy right now,” she said, shoving the tulle covered witch out the door. “We’ll chat later, a-buh-bye,” she finished with a wave, the door slamming shut behind her.
“CHERI!” Gwen shouted from the other side as Cheri cackled, sliding her broomstick through the door handle. She turned around, a feral grin on her face as she surveyed the woman perched on her desk, ignoring the jiggling of the handle and frustrated yells from the other side of the door.
“So you're my little trouble maker today, aren’t ya?” she asked, sauntering up to the desk and surveying the sprite, chin resting on her knuckles.
“Guilty as charged,” the sprite said, hopping down off the desk. Oh, she was tiny. “Look, your darkness, I don’t have much time. And I’m in a very happy, committed relationship with a literal goddess, so seducing you for help is like, out of the question.”
“Oh shit, a goddess? Which one?”
“Pleasure,” the sprite replied, lickity-split. “Greek.”
“Ha-HA, nice one! Up top,” Cheri replied, holding up a hand.
The sprite flushed, but, grinning, high-fived her back.
“Thanks for not leaving me hanging there, girl,” Cheri said, walking around the sprite and looking her up and down. “That would've been awkward. Would’ve had to cover by turning you into a toad or something,” she added, throwing herself into her seat, her feet landing on the desk. “Now I also don’t have much time. The chaos in the air today is ripe for the picking and I have yet to do that, thanks to politics, yuck. So, cut to the chase.”
“I need to break into Rosehaven,” she said.
“Deja vu!”
“Yeah, I know, don’t remind me. Short and sweet or long and complex?”
“Short and sweet baby.”
“Great! I’m from another timeline, and I’m trapped here until I can find the time crystals that power my way home,” she said, shaking a small, golden object in her hand. “Rosehaven is the last place I could think of them being, and I need to get in there and get them back because let me tell you, your Darkness, if I have to stay in this timeline for one second longer? I am going to burst into flames and just EXPLODE.”
Cheri laughed. “You're cute,” she said, recrossing her feet. “I can get you there. But what do you have to offer in exchange?”
“Even more chaos than is presently brewing,” the sprite said with a clever smirk. “In three hours I’ve managed to completely throw off every single Frost, leading to the chaos you’re sensing right now. If I’ve played my cards right, and if I manage to pull this last bit off, the chaos will straight up triple.” She frowned. “That is, if I remember magical chaos theory correctly. I didn’t pay much attention in world magics class,” she admitted with a silly little grin, scratching the back of her head. “And, it’ll piss off a lot of magibeans.”
“Glenda too?”
“Oh, her lightness especially.”
Cheri cackled. “Count me IN,” she said, hopping up and rummaging around the shelves packed FULL of ingredients and artifacts. “One plane shift coming right up.”
“Thank the fucking goddess,” the sprite said, relieved.
“Fair warning, though,” Cheri said over her shoulder, lobbing all sorts of shit into her cauldron. “You're already there, technically. There's a good chance you may get stuck. Rosehaven will let you in, but getting out? Hmm.”
“I’m hoping the time nonsense helps with that,” the sprite replied nonchalantly. “And honestly? Given the choice, I’d rather be stuck THERE than HERE in this timeline. I’ll take my chances, your darkness.”
Cheri laughed. “A sprite after my own heart.”
---
Time passed.
Maybe minutes, maybe seconds; maybe hours.
The parents stared at their son. The son stared at his parents. The dust cleared, exposing them all to one another. Mother and father looking particularly icy and ashen; son looking just as icy, if not more, than mother.
It’s Jack who speaks first, unsurprisingly.
“I know what this looks like, but it’s really not,” he found himself saying, trying very hard to keep the desperation out of his voice. “We can play chase later, you can bring me in again or whatever, I literally do not care, because there is something WAY more important that I need to be doing in a general that-away direction,” he said, pointing towards the rocky crags in the distance that hid Roseterra. “I don’t want to do this the hard way, but I will if I have to!”
“ARE YOU OKAY?!” Blaise shouts across the way.
“I—wait. WHAT?”
The tension, the readiness for battle, the urge to run away, all of it leaves at once. Jack stood, dumbfounded, unsure what to do with himself.
Blaise and Winter shared a look and, with a slight nod, gently walked towards him hand in hand.
Run says his brain.
Don’t, says his heart.
He stays.
Soon enough, they’re face to face. My god they’re old, Jack thinks.
Blaise and Winter think the same thing as they come face to face with their son.
Jack blinks.
They blink back.
Winter opens her mouth to speak; the words die before they can even come out. Unable to say much of anything at that precise moment, she squeezed Blaise’s hand. He nodded.
“Are you okay Jack?” he asked again.
“I—uh.”
Jack looked around, the remnants of the icy walls crystallized around them. The guards have yet to stir; his furniture and possessions are littered about as the wind blows, papers fluttering. The Solitary has been obliterated.
“Mostly.”
“Oh, thank heavens,” Winter finally says. Her eyes are shiny.
“I—okay. WHAT is HAPPENING.”
“We were worried about what she might have done.”
“She—Jacqueline? You guys saw her too?!”
They both nodded.
“Thank the LADY. Look, we don’t have time right now to unpack all of this. We need to go,” Jack says, starting forward.
“Jack, wait.”
“Go where?!”
“To Roseterra!”
Now it’s their turn to be dumbfounded.
Annoyed and short on time, Jack let out an exasperated sigh.
“I know you won’t believe me and that’s fine. But that was her! It was Jacqueline! And she’s about to do something so incredibly stupid and if I don’t go after her right now, immediately, she’s gone! And I can’t…I can’t let that happen again,” he says, voice cracking. “I couldn’t save her then, but maybe I can now!” Jack admits. “I…I didn’t want…I never…I didn’t mean to…”
And he feels tears running down his cheeks. How embarrassing, he thought to himself, sniffing and trying to dry the corners of his eyes.
Suddenly, he’s warm. Very, very warm.
“I know,” Blaise says, quietly, in his ear. “I know. I’m sorry.”
“I loved her,” Jack finds himself saying into his dad’s chest, trying to keep the emotion out of his voice. A usually effortless task that’s really not working for him today. “I never wanted to hurt her and when I did, I—”
“Shh, it’s okay, darling,” Winter says. Jack can feel her arms around him now too. “It’s alright. What’s done is done,” she says, soothingly. “We can’t undo it.”
“But we can help you now,” Blaise said, letting up from the hug. “Whatever you need. We'll help. We're here with you.”
“Winter’s right,” Jack said, lifting his head off of Blaise. “We can’t bring her back. I wish I could! I’d give anything to make it right. But there isn’t anything I can do. In fact, I think it’s safe to say I’ve done enough,” Jack said.
Blaise chuckled, his hairline glowing.
“But what I can do is this. Because somewhere out there is another Jack, who has his Jacqueline; another Winter and Blaise who have her, too! And I don’t want them to lose her. I don’t want them to go through everything we’ve gone through,” Jack said, gesturing around him.
“What is she planning on doing?” Blaise asked, bewildered.
“The thing she travelled with, it has pieces. She was looking for them, and if she visited all of us and we didn’t have them, then there’s only one place left to look.”
Blaise paled. “She’s going to make the jump?”
“One HUNDRED percent. She means business, I mean, look what she did to the guards! To MARCEL!”
“She did that?” Winter asked, eyes widening.
“Uh, yeah,” Jack said, the duh left unspoken but in the air.
“Is it weird that I’m proud?” Winter asked.
“No,” Blaise said. “I am too.”
“It’s impressive,” Jack agreed. “RIGHT! WE HAVE TO GO,” he shouted, rushing forward. "We've wasted enough time as is, best to try and head her off at Roseterra! Cheri's probably already gotten her everything she needs—"
“Jack, wait! Hold on a second—how does he still have this much energy,” Blaise asked Winter, exasperated.
She laughed. “I’ll grab him,” she said, lifting a finger.
A pile of snow shot up in front of Jack. He slammed directly into it. It pushed him back gently, spinning him around to face his parents.
“What,” he snapped.
“Just don’t move for a second,” Blaise said, lifting his palms. They glowed; between them, his staff appeared. He placed it on the ground, uttered a few words, and boom! A circle appeared around Jack.
He glanced down at it, watching the runes and sigils appear in the circle. There were a lot. He grimaced.
With one last incantation, Blaise lifted his staff and slammed it into the ground. The small symbols and shapes cracked, disappearing until the circle was empty. It faded into the ground, Jack feeling lighter than he had in centuries.
“What was all THAT?!” he asked, equal parts offended on his own behalf, and impressed that it took that many enchantments to keep him imprisoned.
“Don’t worry about it,” Blaise said, a couple of sparks popping off of his ashen head. His roots seemed to be glowing now too. “Let’s go save your sister, yeah?”
And with that, the trio rushed off.
---
They made it, but not soon enough.
They slid to a stop, dust flying as Jacqueline turned to level them all with the same icy glare. Below her, the ground was shifting, shimmering and glittering. In her left hand, she held a glass object. In her right, a piece of chalk.
“Jacqueline, don’t!” Jack said, stepping forward.
She let out one single, sharp HA. “I do what I want, Jack,” she said, coldly. Looking them all dead in the eye one at a time, she dropped the glass ball onto the ground, right into the shimmering circle.
It shattered, and a pink cloud poofed up. The writing on the monument blurred, a small portal opening up, wider and wider until it was as tall as she was. A bright light surrounded her. Jack held up an arm, shielding himself from the light while still trying to keep a visual on Jacqueline. Behind him, Blaise grabbed Winter. She hid her eyes in his chest, while he, similarly to Jack, shielded his own.
They stood, watching helplessly, as the silhouette of Jacqueline stepped into the portal, disappearing.
It snapped shut, the glow diminishing.
All three of them moved forward, only to be stopped by some sort of unseen forcefield.
“Oh dear,” Winter said, as she watched the two men try and break through it. She tilted her head, the north winds blowing. “I’m afraid that won’t work, dears,” she said.
“What do you MEAN it won’t work? We gotta do SOMETHING!”
“We’re going to lose her AGAIN, Winter!”
“Rosehaven has placed the barrier there. It doesn’t want us to interfere. It’s up to her now.”
“And what, we’re just supposed to stand here and wait?!” Jack asked.
“Precisely,” Winter said, the winds blowing happily behind her.
“And what do we do in the meantime? Talk?!” Blaise asked.
“I don’t see why not,” Winter said, chipper.
Both men looked at each other, distraught.
---
The light was very pink. Blinding, nearly. It smelt like flowers. It felt…amazing. Like she was safe; like everything would be okay. She was home.
Her anger, frustration, annoyance, and fear all disappeared as she came to a very sudden stop.
She opened her eyes.
It was still very pink.
She seemed to be in some kind of large, stone gazebo. Vines twirled up it, a leafy canopy hanging down around her. Flowers bloomed. A fountain trickled somewhere nearby. In front of her stood a podium.
“Welcome to Rosehaven,” said an ethereal voice. “Name, please?”
“Jacqueline Winter Frost,” she said. “Here to see one Jacqueline Winter Frost, if you please.”
The hooded figure looked up, perplexed. Their head tilted under the hood; the material gently creasing. “How curious,” they said, gliding over to Jacqueline. “You are here again, and yet, you are already here.”
Jacqueline looked right into the darkness within the figure's hood. She pulled the time piece out of her pocket.
They recoiled. “Well now, that explains it,” they said. There was a swirl of petals and their hood fell back, revealing a pale face, messy dark hair in a pixie cut of all things, and very familiar brown eyes. They danced with all sorts of warm hues. Red. Orange. Yellow. Like fallen leaves. “May I?” they asked gesturing to the time piece.
Jacqueline nodded. She placed it flat in her palm and held it out for the Hollow.
“Time magic. Well, the good news is you’re safe from being stuck,” they said with a knowing smile. “Here, hold onto that.”
“And the bad news?”
“Hmm?”
“You said the good news. Usually that means there’s bad news to follow?”
“Yes. Well, as the Hollow charged with guarding the entrance, I can’t just let you in, of course.”
Jacqueline sighed. “Oh, gosh. Is it riddles?  I am very bad at riddles. I hope it isn’t riddles. I’d say combat but we’d be locked in combat forever, wouldn’t we? Cant fight to the death in the afterlife, can we?”
The Hollow laughed. “Nothing so severe and no riddles for you, snowflake. I have a very simple question you must answer for me.”
“Oh. Uh. Okay.”
“How’s Autumn?”
Jacqueline blinked. “I’m sorry?”
“Autumn? Your Aunt? How is she.”
“I don’t know. This isn’t my timeline. I have no idea how any of my aunts are—”
“I only need to know about Autumn. Your Autumn.”
“My Autumn?”
The Hollow nodded. “I committed a crime, you see. I brought the light life that gave your aunt breath over to Harvest. That is not the duty I was charged with by the goddess. I was supposed to take life, not give it. So, I was punished with door duty.”
“Door duty? For such a steep crime?” Jacqueline asked.
“It was fated,” the Hollow said with a wink. “I am Hollow Eve. Autumn is as much my daughter as she is Harvest’s. We like to know how she’s getting on, in every timeline.”
“This happens a lot then?”
“Nope! Not at all! This is the first time a Frost from another timeline has found their way in here. Carpe diem,” she said with a knowing smile. “How is she back at home?”
Jacqueline blinked. “Oh! Well. She’s doing quite alright,” Jacqueline said, recalling when they last talked. “She recently got into Bones. It’s a show, not the actual bones. That only happens around Halloween. Anyway, she binged that and loved it! She’s still trying to see if she can yield anything from the scar, but no luck yet. She thinks she’s getting close, but she thinks that every year,” Jacqueline said fondly.
“Bones. I shall look into that show I think. Come then, Jacqueline. I will take you to see Jacqueline. We can walk and talk,” they said, gliding over to the exit. “I will grant you safe passage throughout Rosehaven, and back again.”
“Huh,” Jacqueline said. “This was easier than I thought.”
“She was expecting you.”
“That rambunctious little bugger, I knew it. It’s just what I would do.”
Eve laughed. “Fated,” she said, once again. “Come along then, snowflake. Right this way. It’s tea time. Impeccable timing.”
“Fated, even?” Jacqueline teased back.
Eve laughed. “Indeed! Now you're getting it. Let’s get a move on. And tell me more about my child, if you please.”
“Sure,” Jacqueline said, more than happy to talk about her aunt, though it was harder than she had expected.
Not that she didn’t know much about Autumn; they talked regularly, as she did with all three aunts. No, it was just…Rosehaven was beautiful. And as they walked, Jacqueline was enthralled with it, trying to take it all in while sharing all her favourite Aunt Autumn stories. Her multi-tasking skills were not to be found today.
The hills rolled out, impossibly far; the pink sky was bright. Flowers were all over the place, blowing in a breeze that smelt like all of her favourite things: freshly baked cake. Snow. Dite. The beach. Trees towered high, the oddest creatures popping in and out of them, flitting through the sky, over branches, and winding between their feet. Fun little houses dotted the landscape, dwellings matching each magibean that sat, lounging; basking. Playing instruments, working with magic both alone and with their neighbours, explosions of sparkles happening both near and far as magic sprouted up all around them. The pathways sprawled out in the distance, leading to lush forests, jungles; desert, even! And far off in the distance, mountains; a tall, lonely castle, a sharp contrast off in the horizon to the warm and cozy dwellings that surrounded them.
Jacqueline had actually stopped to frown at it for but a moment, as Eve told her not to dwell for too long and come along, if you’d please. And tell me more about Halloween, if you’d be so kind.
And so, the pair continued on through Rosehaven; Jacqueline trying fruitlessly to take in as much detail as possible while telling Eve all about her daughter. Aunt Autumn. They delighted in all the stories Jacqueline shared, as they wound through the lush expanse, Eve practically sparkling the more she heard of Autumn.
Finally, the path widened, the trees growing taller and wider, covered in vines, flowers all over the place. Water trickled in the distance; they walked under a natural stone archway, coming into a beautiful garden. Butterflies fluttered about, the sweetest of scents tickling her nose. The woods and stones and vines and flowers wound together tightly, forming all natural furnishings. At the centre of it all, a stone. A stone that was both devoid of colour and all the colours at once; sparkling faintly, magic shimmering around it.
Just behind this stone was a table. Made of wood and bark, and surrounded by stumps shaped like chairs, a beautiful spread of treats and sweets sat. A teapot glinted in the light, steam coming out of the spout. Four cups sat in saucers, two filled, two more waiting. At the top of this round table sat a woman.
She looked old; ancient, even. Her hair was long, the green still making itself known through the grey. Leaves sat at the top of her braids, turning into flowers, then back to leaves again. Colourful leaves, trailing into frost at the very bottom. Her multiple braids clinked together as she nodded along, green eyes soft, paying rapt attention to her small companion, a soft smile on her dark face.
Her companion stood on her stump chair, talking animatedly and bouncing in place as she used her whole entire body to describe something. Her pigtails bounce as she grinned, blue eyes sparkling, flyaway hairs decorated with snowy beads, a little flower tying each braid off at the end.
Eve cleared her throat.
Both figures stopped talking, turning to look at the pair. The little sprite grinned, bouncing in place once again. The old woman smiled, head tilted.
“Hello, Eve,” she said, her voice soft and loud, sounding like rushing water but also like a soft breeze. It hit Jacqueline, then, exactly who she’d come face to face with. The little gasp slipped out, much to her dismay. The tiny sprite giggled about it. “To what do we owe the pleasure?”
“Mother Gaia. Mistress Frost. You have a visitor,” they said, bowing deeply, and gesturing towards Jacqueline. Flushing, Jacqueline curtseyed deeply. “One Mistress Frost,” Eve said.
“Mother Gaia, it’s an honour,” Jacqueline said, reverent, not sure how long she should bow for.
The woman chuckled. “There’s no need for formalities, dear. Up you go. There we go. Now, I don’t think I have to introduce my companion to you, do I?”
The child giggled. So did the young woman.
“No,” she said.
“We’re good! We know each other!” the child said, bouncing in place. She turned to her older self, meeting the woman’s fierce gaze with one of her own.
“Do you have them?” Jacqueline asked.
With a small smile, she opened her little fist. In it, three pieces of glowing chrono-quartz sat, charged and ready to go.
“Oh thank the goddess,” Jacqueline said, relieved.
“Did you bring me what I wanted?”
“I think the heck I did,” Jacqueline replied, grinning. “May I sit?”
“Please do,” Mother Gaia said, gesturing to the stumps. “Eve?”
“I’ll float, thank you.”
“Have some tea, darling,” Mother Gaia said. Not waiting for an answer, she waved her hand. The pot poured out a cup, cream pouring in along with some honey. The saucer and cup floated, then, landing right in front of Eve’s outstretched hands.
“Thank you, Mother Gaia.”
“Of course. Now then. What have you been up to, my dear?”
“All sorts of nonsense,” Jacqueline said with a sigh, slumping in her seat. Elbow on the table, she held her head, taking a moment to rest. “Chased all three of them down to find those,” she said, pointing lazily at her child self’s hands.
“Are they coming?” the child asked, hope glinting in her big blue eyes.
“I did you one even better, Jacqueline,” she replied, selecting a brownie off the snack tray. “They’re here.
“HERE?!”
“Like, outside, but yes, they are. All three of them.”
“ALL of them?”
“Even Jack.”
The little girl brightened at that, bouncing in her seat again. “Yay! Thank you,” she said, earnestly.
“Of course. Riled them up real good, too,” she added, taking a bite out of her brownie.
“Very much so,” said Gaia. “I can feel the chaos from here.”
“Well you gotta do what you gotta do,” both Jacquelines said, one around a mouthful of brownie. They stopped and looked at each other, blinking, and immediately laughing.
Gaia smiled. “I hope the little one didn’t cause you too much trouble,” Gaia said, booping little Jacquie’s nose fondly. The child let out a teehee.
“She absolutely did,” Jacqueline said, her child self giggling fully now and plopping down in her seat. “You sent me on a goose chase and a HALF girl! Dang! And this on top of the day I have had,” she said, grabbing a tiny cupcake off the platter and peeling off the wrapper. “I was supposed to help a friend find a thing, and then these time shenanigans happened and then I found myself looking at my own GRAVE! I’ve had to yell at my parents and visit my brother in PRISON for KILLING me,” she said, eating the cupcake whole. “I mean, I figured I’d probably visit him in prison more than once in our lifetimes, BUT FOR MURDER? OF MY ME? Would much rather do that visit ALIVE, thank you kindly. Uh, no offence,” she said, embarrassed, glancing around the table as she swallowed the cupcake.
“None at all,” Gaia said.
“I’ve no concept of life,” Eve said. “I simply exist.”
“I’ve been like this for FOREVER! It’s allllll good, Jacqueline,” said the kid, patting her hand.
“I just. I have had a very long day and really want to go home and get a hug from my girlfriend and—”
“WE HAVE A GIRLFRIEND?! WHO? WHAT’S SHE LIKE? IS SHE PRETTY? STRONG? CAN SHE THROW ME? CAN SHE THROW YOU?! CAN SHE THROW US BOTH?”
“Yes to all of that,” Jacqueline said.
“I’m so cool,” kid Jacqueline said, grinning at Gaia.
“The coolest, I'd say,” Gaia said, grinning back. “Now then. Finish up your tea. Have some as well, Jacqueline; you’ll need this particular blend for the journey ahead.”
“Oh?”
“Special properties. They’ll make the planar shift less…cumbersome on the way out.”
“Cumbersome?”
“It was nice coming in,” Eve said. “But it’s quite the opposite going out. This should help. And since you told me what I needed to know, you have my blessing to take as long as you need. I’ll make sure the portal closes when you’re ready,” Eve added, directing the last bit at tiny Jacqueline.
“Got it,” she said, with a determined nod. “Are you coming too, Gram?”
“No child. I’m much too old to be making these planar shifts. I’ll be right here waiting for you to get back and tell me all about it,” she said, eyes crinkling at the corners when she smiled.
Tiny Jacqueline smiled, hopping off her seat and right into Gaia’s arms in a hug.
“Thank you,” she said, squeezing the matriarch.
“Of course,” she said, squeezing back.
“Whenever you’re ready,” Eve said. “Both of you.”
And so, finishing their tea, the two of them got up. Thanking Gaia once again, Jacqueline waited beside Eve, hand outstretched to her child self. “Shall we?”
“Yes please,” Jacqueline said with a grin, taking her hand.
“Then let’s go,” she replied.
Hand in hand, the two sprites started forward, Eve gliding in front of them, leading them back to the lobby, as they called it. Once they had gotten under the gazebo, the vines snapped, cascading down from the roof and blocking the entrances. With creaks and groans, the vines grew larger and larger, entangling amongst themselves to keep from easily being breached.
“Not to worry; this happens with break-ins. I’ll take care of things here. The two of you,” she said, placing a hand over the spot Jacqueline had appeared in upon her arrival, “Do what you need to do, okay?”
“Sure,” Jacqueline said. Beside her, kid Jacqueline scooted closer, grabbing her arm with both hands and tugging.
“Psst,” she said. “Down here.”
Jacqueline sunk down, worry creasing her face. “Yes?”
“What if…what if they’re not there no more? What if we go out there and they’re gone? I…” she sniffled, her lips wobbling.
“Oh, hey now, kiddo. It’s okay,” Jacqueline said, picking herself up and seating her on her leg. “They will be there; I promise. And if they’re not,” she looked left, looked right, and came right up to her ear. “I’ll hunt them down for you myself. Just for you. Okay?”
Eyes wide and teary, the child nodded. “Okay,” she said. Reaching over, she grabbed Jacqueline’s other arm, pulling her hand up to her face. In her palm, she dropped the chrono-quartz. “I’m ready,” she said, sliding off of Jacqueline’s knee and grabbing her hand.
Behind them, there was a sort of fwoom. A bright light filled the lobby, the portal home opening up for them. Glancing back down at her younger self, Jacqueline stepped forward.
“Ready? For sure?”
“Yeah!”
“Then let’s go.”
And, keeping her younger self behind her, Jacqueline stepped back through the portal.
---
Tuckered out, the three sprites sat, backs against the barrier that would not drop. It had been nearly an hour; they had talked. They had waited. They had come to the realization that they hadn't had to run all day. They could've poofed.
Suddenly, a low thrum.
They shot up, Jack throwing himself in front of his parents and watching as the portal that had closed up opened once again. A silhouette appeared; tall. A mess of hair. She stepped forward. Behind her, her arm still in the portal, she gave something a gentle tug.
A second silhouette popped out. Shorter; smaller. Hair braided.
All three gasped.
The light cleared. Looking a lot less angry now was the older Jacqueline they had come across today, hand in hand with the little girl they thought they had lost, looking as perky and happy as she always had, if a bit translucent and shimmery.
They stared at her. Jack wide-eyed. Winter crying behind her hands. Blaise tearing up.
It was Jack who, yet again, broke the silence.
“Jacqueline?”
The little girl ran, then, closing the distance very fast. She hopped up, slamming right into her brother’s chest with enough force to knock him down. He barely had time to recover before her arms were around his chest, squeezing the life out of him with a hug.
“I missed you,” she said, squishing him very tightly. Jack blinked for a moment, before squishing her back just as tight, if not more.
“I am so, so sorry Jacqueline, I never meant to hurt you! To, to kill you! It was an accident. I love you. I’d never hurt you, not. Not knowingly. Not like this.”
“It’s okay,” she replied, still holding on tight. “I forgive you. It was an accident,” she said, finally letting Jack go. “But what I DON’T forgive you for is NOT coming to SEE ME!”
Still sitting on Jack’s legs, she huffed, crossing her tiny arms. “I waited! I waited the whole time to see you guys! Every single converse-convert-converge—”
“Convergence,” Jack and not dead Jacqueline both said at the same time.
“Yeah! That! I waited for you and mom and dad, but you never came,” she said, turning to look up at her parents. “None of you came. Why’d you leave me all alone?”
When Jack and Blaise didn’t respond, Winter spoke up.
"We messed up," she said, sinking down to the floor, looking at her little baby girl. She reached out, gently caressing her baby’s face. Rubbing away the tears with the pad of her thumb. “We made a very big mistake. We tried to save you, and when we couldn’t…”
“We turned away from each other,” Blaise admitted, sinking down now too.
“We ran away,” Jack added, frowning at the floor. “I…I don’t know about mom and dad, but it seemed easier to run than to face up to what had happened. To deal with it. And, and thinking of going to see you…what would I have even said?”
“Well I think you’re doing okay right now,” Jacqueline said, softening a little.
Jack grinned. “Thanks, Jacqueline.”
“Anytime, boss,” she said, saluting very silly like. Jack chuckled.
“I think we all hurt you a little bit, didn’t we?” Winter asked. “Not coming to see you. Doing what we thought best.”
“What we thought you’d want,” Blaise added.
“All I wanted was to see you guys. I didn’t want you to run away from each other. I just wanted to see you all together and maybe sometimes still be there too,” she admitted, poking her lil’ fingers together. “I’m DEAD. You can’t change that. Not by running away or playing chase or anything silly like that.”
“I know,” Winter said, swooping Jacqueline up off of Jack’s legs. "We know." Pulling her in close, Winter gave her child a big squeeze. “I’m sorry, dear.”
“It’s okay, mommy,” she said, hugging Winter tightly. She looked up at Blaise over her shoulder. With a smile, she stuck her little arms up.
Blaise grabbed her so fast, crushing her against him. “I’m sorry, too,” he said, gruffly. He let out a sob. “I thought I knew what you wanted, but it wasn’t about what I thought. I was wrong. We were wrong. I’m sorry, Jacqueline, so, so sorry.”
“It’s okay daddy,” she croaked, enjoying the warmth that came with the territory. “I’m just glad you were all still here when I got here. I was afraid you’d all have left. That maybe you didn’t…you didn’t want to see me.”
“What?”
“Jacqueline Winter Frost!”
“We’d never!”
“Well you all did a very bad no good awful job showing that,” she said with a pout, wiggling out of Blaise’s arms and plopping on the ground, crossing her little arms. “Do better.”
Up by the grave marker, Jacqueline chuckled. Get their asses, Jacquie, she thought, pulling out the empty time piece. It had a slight glow to it. She pulled out the chrono-quartz. They also had a slight glow. Almost there, she thought, placing them into the face.
“Don’t you worry your little head off,” Jack said, grandly, poking the very top of said little head. “We’ll do better now. I’ll make sure of it.”
“You promise?”
“I promise,” Jack said.
“We all do,” Blaise agreed, Winter nodding enthusiastically beside him.
The tiny sprite’s eyes grew big, her lip wobbling before breaking out in a huge smile. “YAY!” she said, jumping around, trying to hug all three of her family members at once.
“How have you been?!” Winter asked suddenly, grabbing Jacqueline and squishing her tightly. “Are you okay?”
“I am now,” she replied, hugging back. “It’s very nice where I am! Very pink though. I stay with Gaia. She’s real nice and looks lots like Mother Nature and lets me call her Gram. She makes really good tea and always has sweets and...”
Jacqueline sighed, relieved as she watched her child self go on and on about Rosehaven and how everything had been for her on the other side. There was a click and a whir; she glanced down. The watch was ready. The cracks had sealed, the time chunk once again in one piece. Clicking the knob at the top, she watched as the arrows whirred, and the purple turned blue.
“Got him,” she said to herself, relieved, pressing down on the face of the timepiece.
In front of her, a deep purple portal opened. Shoulders sagging, she stepped forward, glad to leave when all of a sudden there was a tug on her skirt.
“Hmm?”
She looked down. Kid Jacqueline stood beside her with a soft smile, hands behind her back.
“Yes?”
“Thank you,” she said, rushing forward and hugging her legs.
“Awwh,” Jacqueline couldn’t help but say. She bent down, squishing her dead self tightly. “You’re welcome. Give them hell, okay? And one more thing.”
The child blinked, letting herself be picked up by herself. “Yes?”
“I’m sorry you died,” she said, face falling.
The child in her arms giggled, covering her mouth with her hand. “It’s okay. I can’t change that. And you can’t, either. Nothing can bring me back completely. But you did me a big help,” she said.
“A big help?” Jacqueline asked, the corner of her lips twitching.
“Yeah! You helped me help them and now we can make a difference. Look! Lookit!”
Tightening her grip on her kid self, Jacqueline looked down at her parents and brother. They were chatting, standing up now; waiting patiently for Jacqueline to head back their way. Blaise and Winter were deep in conversation. Jack said something; the pair laughed, Blaise’s hair actually smouldering. Jack glanced up their way, head tilted.
“GIVE ME TWO MORE SECONDS!” the tiny child yelled, turning back to her adult self. “This is all I ever wanted,” she said, throwing her little arms around Jacqueline’s neck.
“I know,” Jacqueline said, squishing her tight. “Me too. I’m glad I could help.”
“Me too!” she said, pulling out of the hug.
“And if they EVER act out of sorts again, let me know. I’ll knock some sense into them.”
The child laughed. “Okay!”
“Alright,” Jacqueline said, and, with one last squeeze, released little Jacquie. “Off you go,” she said, watching as little Jacqueline ran down the incline, waving at her.
“BYE JACQUELINE! TRAVEL SAFE! I HOPE YOU WIN!”
“Me too,” Jacqueline said, waving back and stepping foot into the portal. The watch was ready; and so was she.
She glanced behind her once more. Jacqueline hopped up into the air, throwing herself at her parents. Blaise was teary eyed; she latched onto his neck like a little koala, Blaise, grabbing his wife and son and squishing them, too. There was cracking; a pop. Blaise’s hair lit up.
With one last deep breath, Jacqueline hopped into the portal, watching as it slowly closed on the four Frosts hugging one another very tightly, basking in Blaise's firelight before she was yanked into the time stream, the watch glowing and pushing her through to the proper timeline.
---
The portal shut; the angry ghost was gone, leaving them with the ghost they had missed the most. Jack watched it shut, wiggling his way out of the hug.
Or at least, trying to.
“So, uh. Not to ruin the moment or anything,” Jack said, Blaise not letting go. “But um. What now? Where should I go?”
“House arrest seems our only recourse,” Blaise said, sternly. “Your Mother and I can keep a close eye on you there. What do you think?”
Jack blinked, taken aback. He smiled; small, soft. "I think I'd like that."
Never letting go of my Supernatural finale au where Dean gets turned into a baby and Sam and Eileen raise him, so
Dean Leahy is openly bisexual his whole damn life, doesn’t even know the meaning of the closet
Sam and Eileen got him lessons for every instrument he ever wanted to learn so he has a whole ass music room in the bunker, which was made much more homey
They raised him so healthy, he’s vegan and told him about the family history of alcoholism so he doesn’t even touch alcohol or meat, (original Dean would turn over)
Baby is still his car, from his 16th birthday on
He uses sign language a lot even learns it in other languages and speaks a few languages fluently
He wants to become a fire fighter when he’s younger but he gets this weird panic around fire (cause of hell) that he can’t explain, so instead he becomes a paramedic
He grows up thinking his parents run some kind of non profit that all of his ‘wayward-sister’ aunts work for, never hears the word ‘hunter’, never touches a gun or any other weapon for that matter, never has a clue that the paranormal exists, he gets a happy safe oblivious childhood
He’s had the same bff since middle school, a bisexual solidarity bff, his ride or die platonic true love, she’s closer to his parents than her own, she’s a chaotic party animal that makes Dean look like somebody’s stressed out dad, but once she meets Rowena she becomes her witchcraft and hell ruling apprentice
Dean loses Eileen as a teenager and Sam a few years later, thinking they were both ‘accidents’, he makes his peace with it because at least his parents are together, his aunties all keep an eye on him everybody always checks in, but one day Sam’s soul goes missing, not in heaven, hell, purgatory or the empty, no one, not even Jack can find him
So Cas shows up
In a new vessel, one closer in age to young adult Dean
And Dean really has no clue that he is his own uncle, that his dad was his brother, that he lived a whole life before the life he’s been living, but he does have this one dream about an Angel in a trench coat, and even though the face is different, he knows he can trust Cas
And they go on ‘finding Sam’s soul’ adventure together
And Cas gets to know the new Dean
Who listens to more than just 80′s rock and roll
Who takes care of his body, treats it like a temple, and eats healthy and doesn’t drink, and talks about his feelings, and is always smiling for some reason
And it’s weird because this is a totally new and different Dean, but Cas is just so happy that Dean is finally happy
And they fall in love all over again without anyone trying to ‘write it out of the story’ this time
Anyways I love that Jensen is still trying to fanfic fix that trash finale, but I will never drop this ^ plot
the art of losing (is easy to master)
(Written for @flashfictionfridayofficial‘s prompt: FFF193: Celestial Bodies. Title is a riff on Elizabeth Bishop’s One Art. Enjoy!)
Tumblr media
How does a girl become a god?
             Quite simply, if I’m being honest about it.
             The ones I help do not know my name. Neither do I for that matter, but a name is a heavy thing to carry through the highest cliffs. I have walked through the narrowest straits, through mists denser than darkness itself. I have walked the abyss and the mountain tops beyond human knowledge, but this, I could only do by giving up my humanity.
             (“Sir, I believe the exit is that way,” I say, “if you turn right after the staircase and walk past the blue building.”
             The old man nods at me. “Thank you, my dear. I must have missed my stop.”
             He touches a finger to his forehead. “It’s hard, you know, remembering. But I could have sworn it was getting late. Get home too, dear girl. It’s not good to be out so late after dark. Somebody must miss you.”)
             I have walked the fires that burn deep in the darkest, deepest parts of the ocean, where cold sinks into your bones and does not leave. I have swum the currents of air that slice the very tips of clouds off.
             I do not know how I got here. It must be like the others, because not all who wander are lost, but the people who end up here? The lost and the lonely. Not all the souls who end up here are alive either.
             (“Ma’am?” I get the old woman’s attention. It’s a bus stop this time, and she clutches her purse to her. Her eyes are milky white, and she looks at me like she’s seeing somebody else.
             “Are you my John?” She asks. “I’m… I don’t know where I am.”
           “It’s okay,” I say, pressing my hand to her bony fingers. “You’re just lost.”
             I guide her up, walking beside her as she hobbles towards a doorway that leads to a dark place I have never been to. She is dead, but as ghosts go, she has a strong grip. As we walk, she tells me about her John. Her John is a young man, who never visits his old grandmother. She worries for him, and for her daughter, Marie-Anne.
             “Tell that girl she needs to eat more, and does she ever listen?” The old woman grumbles, “You, you tell her that she needs to eat her vegetables.”
             I help her past the threshold. I cannot go beyond this point.)
             I am the one who emerges beyond the mists, the guide who appears as a sister, a daughter, a brother. On occasion, I am an aunt or a grandmother.
             (“Auntie?” A young boy looks up at me from inside some modern looking station. “I think I’m lost? I missed my stop and my mum’s going to kill me.”
             I point him to the next train, and tell him to get on it and take it a loop until he gets back out.)
             I am nameless, and the lost often find things to call me. But none of them are my name. But it’s okay. Gods do not have human names. I don’t always know who people see when they look at me, but I try to be friendly. No one ends up here on purpose after all.
             And then the day came when somebody did.
             “Ma’am,” I begin, turning to the woman sitting on the bench. This is a proper labyrinth, sweet smelling like herbs and sunlight, and oddly familiar. It is a garden, flowers and warmth pressing themselves to my cheeks like a caress.
             And then she’s looking at me and my breath catches. “Ma’am, I think you’re lost.”
             “Oh, please don’t worry about that.” The woman stands, brushing off her skirts in a terrible, familiar motion. “I have been practicing this for a long time.”
             Her eyes glint in the sunlight, “It’s harder than you would think, to find this place.”
             “To find you.”
             Her face is older than I remember, crinkles at the edge of her eyes and wrinkles at her forehead. Silver darts through her hair like shooting stars through the dark. When she grasps my hands, her hands are calloused, veiny and tender where they grip mine.
             “Hello, Asteria.”
             I should know her. I could swear I know her. The name rings in me like an old church bell, rocking me where I stand.
             But I don’t know her.
             “I don’t know your name.” My voice breaks from my chest, a quiet sort of devastation.
             “It’s okay,” she says. “Do you remember how you got here?”
             I shake my head.
             “We were fighting. You were trying to find something, after our brother died. You were trying to bring him back, but instead, you got lost.” Her voice is quiet. “We looked for you forever, but we couldn’t find you. Until the rumours came out about an immortal guide, who finds the lost and helps them home.”
             “Athena thought you didn’t want to come home. I disagreed. Athena thought you blamed yourself for our brother’s death. But then I realised this place was real.”
             “Do you know, this place is a different plane of reality, a celestial body of sorts. It’s hard to know it exists, but even when you do, it’s harder still to remember who you are and what you’re looking for. You can only find this place by being lost yourself.”
             And I know this. Or I knew it once. I have heard this story before, but now I know it again, hearing this woman speak.
             “What’s your name?”
           The woman shakes her head. “Nobody can know.”
             She presses her lips to my forehead and pulls off her coat. She wraps it around me, and the scents take me back to her lab. Copper like the torches she’s so fond of, teak and walnut for tables which our brother gave her as a present when she finally set it up. Ink like her records of all the stories she’s ever told me about the world.
           My big sister stands before me, but even now I feel my memory of her name escape me.
             “I’m here to take your place.” She touches my face gently. “The guide must exist, to save the lost.”
           “But it doesn’t have to be you.”
             She presses her hand to mine and guides it to the exit of her- my garden.
             “Athena’s waiting for you. Don’t worry about me. I’ve lived a good life, and you’ll see me again someday.”
             How does a girl become a god?
           Quite simply actually; she makes a decision.
