AITH for correcting an ethinic student about my hair?

First of all, I say ethnic because i honestly have no idea what their race is. She is a beautiful, dark skined girl with gorgeous curls, but not aftican american skin (Mediterranean maybe?) so saying black felt wrong (if this alone makes me the A-hole tell me in the comments, just trying not to assume things about people.)

Anyway, I (33f) work at a college as a professional aid/assistant. I have naturally aumber/deep red hair. I have Irish, Scottish, and mixed European ancestors. My hair is mixed texture ranging from 2B, 2C, and 3A in different sections (its a hot mess but in a good way okay lol). My hair type comes from my dad's side of the family (he alwayss kept it short) so my mom had no idea how to identify or care for textured hair. I grew up with the standard of wash every day/every other day and brush frequently. Needless to say, my hair was a frizzy mess growing up, and through high school and college I straightened it constantly.

Upon growing into my 30s i realized what my texture really was and educated myself on its care. I now properly care for it (admittedly, at a minimum because I'm lazy). I wash and heavily condition with curly products, minimum rinse, minimum dry, and sleep in a plop. If i feel ambitious i add curl gel or use refresher spry between washes. Thats it, but my waves/curls are beautiful to me and I'm happy.

Enter the student in question (T). After an exam she approached me (i was immediately post wash day so my hair was the most wavy/curly it ever is) and asked to speak to me in private. I thought nothing of it as students often speak to me about their concerns or struggles in classes. T started telling me i am being inappropriate and insensitive for wearing my hair like I do. That it minimizes and appropriates her culture. I was stunned. In told her my hair was naturally like this and she kind of laughed at me, saying it wasn't possible for white people to have hair like mine naturally, and that she knew i had straight hair before (a couple years ago when i was straightening it, i guess?).

I explained my heritage and how i had only recently learned to care for it. I even told her my routine. She called me a liar, and i admit i lectured her after that. I went on about how lots cultures historically had naturally wavy/curly/kinky hair and it was no owned by a single race.

T called me a liar and said i was being insensative to she and her friends. I said sorry but that's just how it goes and i love my hair. She stormed off. The next week after class a group of T's friends came up to me and said i was rude and insensitive to her, and that i needed to be more continuous of their cultural struggles (i won't try to name their race/cultural because they were a diverse group of like 7 ethinic students).

I was not trying to minimize anyones culture, just educate that hair culture can be diverse and doesn't care about skin color. Was that an A-hole move? I mean, i'm paper white and have curly/wavey hair, them saying that its racist to be myseld is actually pretty hurtful to me.

So talking about synastry, I want to remember you that even if there are aspects or placements considered “best” or "worst" for romantic relationships, we all have different birth charts and we are all human beings with different perspectives and personalities, hence before checking a synastry , CHECK THE BIRTH CHART! I watched TBOSAS today (Sunday) and I’m sadly not very well (bad cold or flu), but I wanted to try and make a little post to appreciate the film/give my thoughts.

I saw the first three Hunger Games movies on opening weekend during my teens - the only one I didn’t watch at the cinema was Mockingjay Part 2, because it coincided with my GCSE mocks and some other stuff I had going on. I saw the first one twice at the cinema, once on opening weekend with one friend and then a second time with my then-best friend a few weeks later; I saw CF and MJP1 with my younger sister on opening weekend because it’s one of the few series we both love and so it’s one of the few things we can both enjoy together. My point is that I’m a huge THG fan, have been since I read the first book in late 2011 when I was 13 - I even still have my Mockingjay pin that I bought in March 2012 from Waterstones that I still wear!

Anyway, I read TBOSAS during lockdown, my sister bought the book and let me read it after she did, so this has been one of my most anticipated movies of the year!

I’m glad they made Coriolanus Snow hot because I felt so conflicted watching him and that’s EXACTLY what was needed for the character, he’s got this beautiful exterior but he is POISON inside

Rachel Zegler was AMAZING by the way, I’m not her biggest fan by any means but I say fuck the haters

Hunter Schafer as Tigris was AMAZING casting, she really needs to shine away from Euphoria because damn she was so good in this film

Just in general casting ATE in this movie; Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman etc

Tigris was spot on: “I wouldn’t sing a note for you” and pointing out that Coryo needed to get Lucy Gray’s trust in order to help her win

Arachne Crane deserved death, idc 🤷‍♀️

NO ARACHNE FUNERAL LIKE THE BOOK?!?

The fact that the tributes were just dumped in a zoo and put on display like animals?!? Compared to six and a half decades later where the tributes are glammed up and treated like royalty, even allowed to train before entering the arena??? I love how starkly different it is

I won’t lie, Lucky Flickerman stole the film whenever he was in the scene 😭😅 absolute scene stealer?!?

Lucky trying to cancel his dinner reservations on night 1 of the games because “this is taking longer than I expected” 💀

Coryo killing Bobbin was BRUTAL. He could have stopped after the first hit, that was self defence - but he carried on and kept hitting him. It was definitely a huge moment

I obviously knew Wovey wasn’t going to survive, but god DAMN it 😭 DID THEY HAVE TO MAKE HER SO SWEET AND LIKEABLE?!? She just wanted to go home, and those were her last words before she was killed by the snakes 😭

Coryo really cheated just so Lucy Gray could survive, and it still has me questioning whether he cares for her or if it is just to do with the Plinth prize? 🤔

“What are the Hunger Games for, Mister Snow?” And all I can think about was him explaining in the original HG movie why there’s a Victor, why they don’t just kill 24 kids at random:

THE SNAKE SCENE IN THE ARENA WHERE LUCY GRAY SINGS?!? ASDFGHJKL THIS IS CINEMA

The Games felt so much more primal and sad, like you could tell all of them were just trying to survive, even Coral who seemed to target Lucy Gray ruthlessly but then before her death made the comment that it can’t have all been for nothing…

The fact that Gaul didn’t want to call an end to the games even though Lucy Gray was the final survivor, and it was only when the other mentors were chanting to let her out, to call it, that she finally did it…

I nearly lost my shit during the first hanging scene because I suddenly remembered that THIS was what the Hanging Tree song was based on; “they strung up a man they say who murdered three” “dead man called out for his love to flee” etc. And that is EXACTLY what happened, right to a tee: the man protesting his innocence, calling for his love to go…

Listen I may be REALLY off, but the meadow where Coryo and Lucy Gray met up again… is it the same meadow from the final scene in Mockingjay P2 with Everlark and their kids?!?

It probably isn’t but it reminded me of it idk

THE KATNISS PLANT - FORESHADOWING 😭 “it’s not ready yet” “things change fast” ASDFGHJKL

SEJANUS PLINTH YOU HAVE ALWAYS DESERVED BETTER 😭 knew it was coming but I was so sad

The scene where they hang Sejanus was so chilling, because the birds (i think they were Jabberjays and not Mockingjays but I could be wrong?) repeated his blood curdling calls for help as he was hung, like I was so haunted by it afterwards

No wonder Coriolanus Snow hates the fucking birds, Jesus Christ

THE CABIN AND WOODS SCENES?!?

The absolute tonal shift when he finds the guns, when Lucy Gray remarks that she’s the only loose end as if it’s a taunt, a challenge etc.

Coriolanus running through the woods, screaming “AFTER EVERYTHING I HAVE DONE FOR YOU?!?” - it just SCREAMS toxic relationship quite frankly, like whether you believe there was any genuine love at all or not, it just screams how toxic the relationship was between them. It was doomed from the start frankly

I was so concerned that the film would make it clear whether or not he killed Lucy Gray, but thankfully they left it ambiguous just like the book. Did one of his bullets hit her? Did she fly free?

It’s so interesting that Lucy Gray and her games were completely and utterly wiped, there was no trace of them - but her songs, her art, survived even after she disappeared. Songs like the Meadow song and the Hanging Tree survived and were passed on through District 12, becoming part of their culture - Snow couldn’t destroy that, no matter how hard he might have tried

Also YES, I noticed that Tigris called him “Coryo” until their last scene together, and then it was “Coriolanus” 😭 and also the fact that she warned him not to turn into his father, his father had hate in his eyes… and then at the end, she sadly tells him “you look like your father, Coriolanus” 😭

The small little hints of the man Coriolanus Snow is in the original series though??? The roses, the Katniss plant Easter egg, etc. And then there’s the fact we see glimpses of what later became his preferred method of killing his enemies - poison. He put poison in the compact and gave it to Lucy Gray, and then he poisoned Casca Highbottom… it’s just so fascinating to think of who this young 18 year old becomes later on, the way he changed over the course of the next 64 years and how those changes came directly from what happened in this story.

Ending the film with Donald Sutherland’s delivery of “It’s the things we love the most that destroy us” from the original movies?!?! FUCK YEAH I WAS THIS CLOSE TO SCREAMING

Honestly it’s got to be VERY hard to play a younger version of a Donald Sutherland character, but especially this one because that man KILLED the part in the films, but I think Tom Blyth did a really good job and I could definitely see hints of the older Snow being included in his performance, like I could genuinely believe it was the same character?

The fact that 64 years later a dark haired girl from District 12 wearing a mockingjay pin and singing songs once sung by a girl he thought dead absolutely fucked his life up?!? We love to see it. It’s like Lucy Gray gave him a middle finger lol

I’ll be honest, as soon as we left the cinema I said to my sister “the only thing is now I want to watch the original four Hunger Games movies” 😭

That’s all I can think of right now because I’m very feverish, I’ve got work in the morning and it was also a long film so there was a LOT going on, but I absolutely LOVED IT. The Hunger Games has truly been the only franchise that has a prequel that has been nearly universally loved and accepted by the fans, Suzanne Collins is truly amazing.

This is normally out of character for both Thornspots and Hayember, but Thorn is frustrated at his lack of connection to Starclan and Hay is frustrated at the fact that she is no longer certain in her beliefs of the afterlife, with how Starclan is such a new force that she is unfamiliar with, and because Thorn isn't taking her seriously.

They both regret what they said and eventually apologize to each other (it takes like five minutes for the realization to hit lol) Hay apologizes for her hurtful words and comments that Thorn has other important roles, like being the bridge between the clan and the magpies, and Thorn talks with her about her dream and Starclan. Also, they've been friends for a long while, with Midge, Hay, and Thorn all growing up as Followers of the magpies.

Fun fact! Magpieclan and their ancestors have a long held tradition that prevents them from hunting, hurting, or killing birds. However, magpie feathers are given as gifts to friends and loved ones and are a symbol of love, friendship, and appreciation. The magpies themselves will sometimes gift living cats with their feathers, or a living cat with gather already shed feathers, but they will never forcefully take the feathers from a magpie.

Well, it was worth a try, but this didn't turn out like I hoped. For one, I couldn't keep up with a Daily blog or Weekly. My priority has always been on getting my writing done first, and since I've gone to a scheduled posting of once a week for my WIP, I haven't found the time. And since the goal of this was for more fandom interaction, I kind of failed there, too, so I lost the inclination.

I'm also going to stop posting my weekly WIP fic updates. My last post last Tuesday, and Reblog the next day got one Like. There could be a variety of reasons, but this is consistent. If I post a rec for someone else's fic or reblog something, I'll get a fair amount of Likes and Reblogs. If it is my own work....... So, since I have less than 200 followers, it's not a productive way to promote my own work. In other words, my fandom ego gets embarrassed. I do understand that I tend to write niche or on-the-edge Drarry fics. From politics to trans-female!Draco with Harry during the 2-year transition, and this one where we have bi-sexual!Harry (Draco's is in Azkaban for 30 years, and Harry has to marry to uphold the family bloodline). I get it. LOL

So, one last time: Chapter 15 of The Azkaban Letters is up. Next week Harry enters the Portrait Room to meet all of his ancestors.

Okay, enough about my personal issues. BTW I will continue reccing fics and watchout, @hd-fan-fair is coming up in October!

I'm thoroughly enjoying @oflights The Star Splitter. This is a Drarry Chapter fic that is updated regularly.

Summary:

On a routine time travel assignment to the past, Draco stumbles upon 7-year-old Harry Potter and witnesses his neglect and mistreatment by the Dursleys. In the moment, there is only one solution, even if it goes against all his training as a Time Agent: he has to bring Harry back to the future with him. In which Draco burns his life down for the sake of his former school rival.

@oflights is such an amazing plotter. Currently, there are seven chapters posted (34.5K), and Draco is in so much trouble that I haven't a clue how it can get resolved. It's truly delicious reading about Draco taking care of 7-year-old Harry but knowing he shouldn't be.

I liked it so much that I perused her other fics posted and found this amazing gem. For anyone who loves Matilda and Ms Honey, Harry Potter; Miss Drew's Class; Y4 (2K) is a must read.

How could I not do this section without mentioning thee amazing @sitp-recs. Reccer Extraordinaire! I'm guessing every one of my followers is a follower of Liv. Her pinned post is so nice and simple, but OMG there is so much under all of those links.

I was in complete awe this past Spring/Summer when she did the Rapid Fire Rec series. I mean come on, how did she do that? Someone gives her a prompt, and she turns around and gives 3 stories dealing with that prompt.

Liv doesn't do Fic Finds; she doesn't tolerate hate or neg comments. What she does is spread Drarry (fic and art) love in every way you can imagine. Tons of love and respect for @sitp-recs for all she does to keep Drarry and some of those rare pairs alive in hp fandom.

Y'know, I am very interested about Psychic guy (vigdissigritr) who wrote this comment, before wicked witch (Danneel) deleted it. And you say on your post you did speak with psychic guy. I want do know did he say more information anything about Danneel?

Me? I do still believe Danneel will get her karma for all the bad deeds she did during years of messing around with Jesnen's free will and ruining innocent people's lives by her spell works. Trust me, I think Danneel messed up with the wrong person who is protected by god and their ancestors.

I still believe Jensen is good man. I wish everyone would give him chance. I think Danneel is problem.

I had a feeling an ask of this nature was coming my way soon and you delivered! :D So, I understand you are concerned about Jensen's well-being and have been made aware of her having done witchcraft from the getgo. Frankly, I believe that any spell used to attract a specific person is in fact black magic because if it's meant to be it'll be. The song "Meant to Be" by Bebe Rexha would be a great thing for Danneel and Gen both to listen and take to heart, as well as anyone else considering doing any love spells.

If it's NOT meant to be... Let. It. Go. Seriously, if you're that desperate enough to do black magic on someone else just to keep or attract them (or should I say lure them in), YOU are the problem not life itself. This life just ain't that serious you guys, let it go for real ha ha. I believe on a personal note, my ex himself used black magic on me, as I overheard him say one night when I was supposed to be asleep "I never pray I know but please, bring Ellie back for good and let me keep her". This is when I was technically moved out in Summer 2018 but only went back because I couldn't get off the lease. From what my guides have told me, black magic lasts at max about 30 years but I feel like somewhere close to 15 years or so is about average. With my ex, it didn't even last a year LOL! I explained here what black magic really is as far as divine blueprints goes and how it relates to the divine plans, along with explaining what divine blueprints and divine plans are. I decided to copy and paste magic in terms of white, gray, and black with respect to divine blueprints from that post of mine below for your reference.

* White magic is the manifestation of so called original divine blueprints, or what was always meant to happen. * Gray magic is the manifestation of so called fixes to one's divine blueprints and plans after someone has tried using black magic after their astral body tried "tampering" with someone's divine blueprints and plans through the computer located in Cloud Nine. Of course, these fixes sometimes come at the cost of someone else. An example of this is if a woman loses a job but shouldn't have. The fix could be where she gets another job; naturally since there's only 1 job, someone else who should've gotten that job does not get it and another version of that person's divine blueprints ends up manifesting or their divine blueprints have to get "fixed" too, and so on and so forth. * Black magic is the manifestation of so called tampers meant to benefit the person using it at the expense of others. However, I am going to say this about free will before I carry on talking about what else this psychic said about Danneel. People on Earth assume free will pertains to us being able to make choices, to move how we want, act how we want, etc. without being controlled. Here is the thing, in other places where there is no free will they can still make choices, move how they want, act how they want, eat what they want, all of that. So, what the heck is free will? Free will is more or less being able to make choices that harm or even kill others for selfish gain. Free will is essentially the capability of messing with someone else's divine blueprints in order to benefit themselves. Free will is the capability of doing things like murder for reasons like greed, revenge, etc. Free will is the capability of "stealing from others" as this psychic puts it (in short, like I said making bad things happen to them so good things happen to you).

Here, I am establishing that this guy does not know Jensen or Jared, doesn't follow them, etc.

Here, he mentions some health issues of Jensen's going back to Danneel. He sometimes says Daniel or Danielle I believe because this is what the translator he uses does but I know he meant Danneel so please read these as such.

Now, he also mentioned that he doesn't believe Danneel wrote the birthday post but it was Jensen because "it's necessary".

He also brought up some marriage issues going on as well.

This is where he talked more about Danneel and Witchcraft.

These go a little out of order because I'm trying to put similar messages together and also excluded a lot of them out of course as I wanted to highlight the things he said. I did tell him some things of course about things I've written about on here and such. I withheld a lot of info from him to see what all he picks up and see he does pick up a lot as a seer and as someone who doesn't know much about Jensen at all. Below, he talks about world karma and then I wanted to put in this screenshot set below that he mentioned May or June is when he believes things are gonna start panning out and also the said "aftermath" after she is exorcised from his life.

As for what else was said about Danneel's eventual fate... and yes Gen Padalecki is who he was talking about with regards to who she met with "yesterday" (this past Saturday, 3/30/2024)...

Hmmm. Even though I believe some of the messages he is receiving require "interpretation work" with what is really meant as far as who is speaking to him goes, I do think he has a lot of things correct about what her fate will be and how things will eventually pan out okay for Jensen. You mess with someone else's divine blueprints for personal gain and you will suffer consequences...

Legend of Zelda - All BOTW so far. I have some ideas for other Zelda games but they remain as ideas for now.

Absolutely! I am a sucker for attention and I love talking about stories with people.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Oh DEFINITELY That child of mine. It's not even finished yet but there is some goooood angst coming, and I already know how it's going to end (I've actually written a good chunk of the finale already) and it's gonna be heartbreaking.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably A chance enounter? They get each other's number and the promise of a cute date.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Nope! I've only gotten some (requested) constructive criticism. I do have a fic planned that I anticipate being kinda contentious? But I'm already planning on limiting comments on that one lol.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yee! I've never written anything hardcore but I do really like writing and reading sexy scenes. I'm not much of a PWP kind of person (give me all of the emotional context) but I'm a big believer that sex and intimacy are fundamentally human experiences and can serve a story in so many beautiful and interesting ways.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I continue to chip away at my Deep Space 9/TotK crossover idea. It's gonna happen one day... maybe...

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge!

Nope, but maybe I'll try re-writing one of my stories in French sometime as a project.

No but I would LOVE to. The closest is when B and I collaborated and I wrote a story and she did the art.

Zelink, definitely. People whose souls are inextricably bound to one another and keep finding each other, lifetime after lifetime? That's the good shit right there. Obsessed.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

The story that walked into my head that made me start writing. It's a crazy ambitious story - Basic premise is that instead of the Sheikah technology being banned by the ancient king, the Sheikah themselves were banished from the lands of Hyrule. In the interim, Hyrule has been through many wars, dynasties and factions have all risen and fallen, and the bloodline of the Goddess has been forgotten. No one remembers any of the old stories. Zelda is a farm girl training to become a healer like her mother, Link is the son of the king who won the throne after lead a successful campaign against the Zora, and into all of this comes a young Impa, drawn back to Hyrule after thousands of years away, tormented by visions of calamity, a prophecy her people have passed down for millenia, knowing that Hylia would recall them to the land of their ancestors when the time was right. It's anti-monarchy, it's about climate change, it's about falling in love and renouncing power in order to fulfill a greater purpose, it's about knowing yourself, it's about righting ancestral wrongs, and I do not think it will ever be finished but I do like to come back to it every once in a while.

But in all seriousness, I know I still have a lot to learn as a writer. I'm overly descriptive, I have long run-on sentences, dialogue tags are my nemesis, and I struggle to write with real depth of character.

I do think I'm a good storyteller. I am just still honing those skills.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I think it's great! I am obsessed with conlangs - I think they're so fucking cool. For writing in existing languages, as long as you're familiar with the language, or getting someone to look it over and not just running things through google translate, I think that's wonderful.

Andromeda doesn’t often go out exploring. Usually when she goes out, it’s because she’s working on a case or trying to do some of her more independent research. She’s always been more at home in a library or a city than out in nature, which is what makes Xianyun tagging along for her trip out to Minlin. 

Andromeda loves just how knowledgeable Xianyun is about the area. It makes sense— she’s been living on Mount Aocang for centuries, traveling throughout Jueyun Karst. Ae’s good at finding hidden trinkets and details, something that Andromeda can always appreciate. She wonders as they explore together if Xianyun might like getting to help her out on some of her cases. She’d be good at noticing little clues, and two sets of eyes are bound to be better than one. 

That’s part of why she had invited aer out to help on this trip. Andromeda doesn’t know exactly what she’s looking for. This is a personal trip, one meant to help with her research on her ancestors’ culture. She doesn’t even know if she’ll find the answers she’s looking for out here, and part of her knows that she probably won’t. Learning everything there is to know about a long lost civilization on a single trip is impossible, even with Xianyun providing her insight from what she remembers of it. But if nothing else, Andromeda likes getting to spend time with aer. 

Though, as she looks up while they travel along one of the wooden bridges dotting Minlin, she’s not sure how much longer this expedition will last. Clouds have been hanging overhead for the whole trip, but they’re getting darker now. Andromeda can feel in the atmosphere that rain is coming, and the clouds will burst at any moment. 

“It looks like rain soon,” she points out, frowning at the dark clouds hanging overhead. “We should try to get to a shelter or something.”

“We are not far from one’s abode,” Xianyun says. She looks out of the corner of her eyes to Andromeda, like she’s checking to see her reaction. 

Andromeda can pick up the underlying message in Xianyun’s words. This is an invitation— a very important one. There aren’t many people who can say they’ve been invited into an adeptus’ home, but now ae’s offering Andromeda the chance to see hers.

“We could go there then. If you want,” Andromeda says. 

“One is not so fickle that one would invite you to my abode and then change one’s mind,” Xianyun states, as matter-of-fact as ever. “Come along, dear. One will lead the way.”

Andromeda won’t say no. She’s curious about what Xianyun’s abode looks like. She’s heard bits and pieces— that this is a place where she does work on her inventions, that it’s essentially located in a pocket dimension made with adeptal energy. But Andromeda is sure that it’s more interesting in real life than words can describe. Especially if it’s anything like the adeptus that lives there.

The two of them make their way up Mount Aocang, following along the path to the top. Andromeda’s glad that Xianyun stays with her the whole way up to the top. It’s not that this is a particularly challenging climb, it’s easy to follow along the path up, but it’s time consuming. Still, Xianyun would be able to fly to the top if ae wanted to, making it up far faster than they’re moving right now.

The walk up is mostly quiet, though Xianyun comments on things they pass by as they go. Andromeda always likes hearing her insight, and with it not having the pressure to respond more with the occasional word or sound to confirm she’s listening. Ae always has something interesting to say, though, and she thinks that she could listen to aer speak for hours and never get tired of it. 

By the time they make it to the plateau at the top of the mountain, it looks like the storm is about to begin. Heavy gray clouds hang overhead looking like they’re seconds from bursting. Xianyun leads the way past the lake at the center of the area, guiding Andromeda up into the caves that form her abode. Ae pauses at the entrance, motioning with aer hand like ae’s turning a key. A bit of adeptal energy hums around her and the entrance to the abode glows before allowing them in. 

Andromeda had heard about how impressive an adeptus’s home was, and she had heard from Xianyun about aer abode before. Still, it’s far bigger than she would have expected, glowing golden bridges stretching out into an infinite sea of clouds with floating islands dotted through it. Andromeda’s sure that if she ventured deeper in she’d find some of Xianyun’s various inventions, and part of her is curious about where she usually goes here to rest. 

“This is amazing,” Andromeda says. 

“One was responsible for designing and creating this space,” Xianyun says, a self-satisfied smile on her face. Ae’s cute when ae’s smug.  

“You did great work. It must be nice to spend some time alone here. It’s kinda like your own private sanctuary,” she says.

“Perhaps it does not simply have to be one’s own sanctuary. Should you come to Mount Aocang when you’re alone on your investigations, you will always be welcome to visit one’s abode for as long as you may need,” Xianyun suggests, sounding far more hesitant than she usually does. “What is one’s shall be yours.”

Andromeda smiles, taking Xianyun’s hand in hers. She rubs her thumb down the back of aer hand. “Thank you, Xianyun. I— you’re very important to me.”

“And one finds one’s self growing more and more fond of you with each day,” she replies. 

Andromeda wishes that she were taller so she could give Xianyun a kiss. Instead she gives aer a kiss on the back of the hand, hoping that’s enough to convey all she feels for aer. 

Hidden away in Xianyun’s abode, Andromeda can’t hear the sound of the storm outside. But as Xianyun guides her deeper into the place she’s called home for years, Andromeda thinks they could wait out any storm together.

(Imma be honest. I didn't get this line on my first playthrough, so when I did on my second I about broke down crying. Fate has smiled upon them,,, ;v;)

Day 23: Flight

"We can fly as high as our hearts wish to! Soar to UNSEEN HEIGHTS!"

(The fact that Kabbu is terrified of heights but loves bounceshrooms is very underrated imo. I think he wants to overcome his fear someday and maybe learn how to fly on his own...)

Day 24: Plant Enchanter

(What did you guys name your Chompys? I named mine Amarylis, intentionally spelt wrong due to character limits. I just think it's a pretty word :>)

Day 25: Lost

"Everyone left on the rescue ferry...but I chose to stay. There's such a soothing beat… How could I leave this place behind? I've gotta find where it comes from...I've...gotta..."

(You ever wonder what happened to the bug who left that note on the Peacock Spider's island? I mean, they're obviously dead, but...I still wonder.)

Day 26: Alternate Universe

(You ever make an AU based on a single line of dialogue & some concept art that gets stuck in your brain and refuses to leave? Yeah, that's what this AU is. The placeholder title is 'The Upcoming Storm', and is an answer to two questions: What if the Roaches followed through with their plans for a Thunder cordyceps? And what if one of Leif's ancestors decided to look into their disappearance?

So this is Cerice, their ridiculously energetic lesbian daughter [who they don't know is their daughter yet; she doesn't remember that they're her parent either] and host of the Thunder cordyceps! Don't worry, Grandpa and Muze still exist - Grandpa's her son. However, Team Snakemouth is split into two teams - Team Snake and Team Mothden - but they still work together. I might make a separate post abt it if anyone wants me to ^^)

1) I am still rotating Quenlyn in my head. Lately, I have been imagining her dropped into one of those panfandom games on Dreamwidth, because Quen learning her 'canonical' fate would be tragic and dramatic. Not too mention the reactions of the canon characters.

I suspect that discovering that the basically entire North would condone her torture and enslavement would make Quen want to take Asha up on her offer of escape. And even if she trusts her Robb, learning that he would be capable of allowing it would be extremely disturbing.

2) Killing Euron would be a fun bonding activity for the Stark-Greyjoy-Harlaws. Just putting that out there.

Alannys and Aeron's scene was so sad already, but then I realized that she doesn't know what happened to her sort-of son. And so it was even worse!

Hello again! It's always lovely to hear from y'all ❤️ I am always turning Quen around in my mind like a rotisserie chicken. We are kin in that.

#1 It's so good to know I'm not crazy, cause I'm also always putting Quen in Scenarios, including incredibly meta scenarios with her ironborn ancestors/future descendants, or just thinking about what Theon+Quen would make of each other. (I've also very seriously considered where Quen/Theon would fall in terms of the "Would You Fuck Your Clone?" question. No comment.)

Quen learning about her canonical fate would be straight-up diabolical, especially Robb's ambivalence about it. To be fair to Robb, Theon did betray him personally and "murder" his brothers, so he's totally allowed to want Theon dead as hell. That said, Robb does not seem particularly bothered about Theon being tortured during his captivity, as evidenced by the piece of skin that Roose gives Catelyn. While Robb begins the series as sensitive, hot-headed, stressed, grieving, etc., duty is always the death of love. Kingship corrupts, and it ate away at Robb the boy until there was nothing left. Robb the boy fears for and misses his sisters, but King Robb cannot trade Jaime for Sansa. Kingship as a burden, a condemnation, always hits for me ngl.

I also recently responded to some meta about Theon & Robb on my other (generally pretty unserious) blog, specifically about the Wildling Incident and the power dynamic between them. This gets addressed in Sow the Tide, but it's something that Robb himself has to grapple with, something that he has to face/fully acknowledge/do the work on. Quen is Very Much Aware of the difference in power between them, but Robb slowly comes to understand it too, in a way that canonical ACOK Robb never did.

#2 It would, wouldn't it? 👀 I won't lie, Euron is probably one of my favorite characters in asoiaf, just because he's just so fucked. Sinister and bizarre (and honestly pretty funny), and of course deeply, deeply evil. I thought it would be hilarious if he genuinely, completely flopped at the kingsmoot. In Sow the Tide, he isn't even the one to kick off the insane bloodbath! For all that Euron stokes chaos/sows discord on the Iron Islands, it quickly becomes apparent that he doesn't have as tight a leash on the ironborn as he thought. He very much sees the ironborn as a means to an end/beneath him, and he doesn't concern himself with any of their history or petty grievances (which comes back to bite him, specifically the murder of Sawane Botley). Euron's not a god (not yet at least lol. Fingers crossed for TWOW!), and the ironborn have got their own shit going on.

It's kinda sad that Alannys and Aeron don't seem to have much of a relationship at all in canon, as I think they have a lot of potential! I went with the lower estimate for Aeron's age (making him around 30), so he would be born around the same time as Rodrik Greyjoy. In the canon that exists in my head (co-developed with goddcoward), Alannys' mother (Gillayne Farwynd) died/disappeared mysteriously sometime before Alannys married Balon, so Balon's mother, Quellon's unnamed Sunderly wife, was something of a mother figure to her.

I believe it was goddcoward who came up with the name "Ygraine", but we had a great time coming up with ironborn names together (with some invaluable input from Ashen_Onion!). Based on the few canonical female ironborn names we're given (chiefly, Alannys, Gwynesse, Gysella, and Helya), the letter "Y" is commonly used, so I kinda just went from there. So we've got Ygraine, Ysolde, Ynys, etc. (I've also got an 'Yngrid' hidden somewhere in the extended Iron Islands family trees I've been working on). Plus a lot of the other female ironborn names I (partially) made up use a "Y": Marys, Brinfryd, Edythe, Alyce. It mirrors the preponderance of "Q" male names among the ironborn: Quellon, Qhored, Qhorin, Qhorwyn, Qarl, Qarlon, etc.

You can tell I've thought about some of this stuff way too much. Like, I noticed that "Pinchface" Jon Myre had an unusually plain, non-ironborn-ish name (Jon), so I made up the bit about him and Jessamyn Myre (one of my random ironborn lady OCs) both having riverland mothers. I also wonder if thralls give their freeborn (grand)children more traditionally "ironborn" names so they're better able to mesh with/rise in ironborn society (for instance, Qarl the Maid). But I'm already rambling, so I'll stop there lol.

A chorus of hello’s, hi’s, and what it be’s came from the crowd. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Namjoon bow slightly.  

“Welcome back to Gailan, the home of the dragons that freed us all. If it were not for my great-great-great-great grandmother, none of us would be where we are now. We could still be in shackles or who knows? Maybe one of your ancestors would have found themselves in my grandmother’s position.  But regardless of who did what, you are all here for one thing. Another clue,” she took a deep breath, the rehearsed speech longer than what she thought. 

“I started this scavenger hunt because I believe that my hand in marriage can and will be only won through a game of sorts. All of you are bachelors or bachelorettes wanting my hand. At least I assume so.” It would suck if you didn’t.  “I will remind you of the first clue: Walk on the living, they don't even mumble. But walk on the dead, they mutter and grumble. What are they?”

“Since no one came to me with any of the scales, I’m assuming no one guessed the riddle. Unfortunately, I won’t be giving out the answer today. I will, however, be telling you the second clue. It is also in the form of a riddle.”

A few groans could be heard in the crowd. Too bad Isador adored riddles. 

“The second clue is: Born underground, raised by the sun, a host for the living, caterer of fun. What am I?”

She smiled as everyone processed the riddle. It was her favorite one and could answer the first riddle as well.  

Prince Isaac was the first to complain. “Why must we receive riddles? It would be a better scavenger hunt if you’d just tell us outright.”

“It wouldn’t be a scavenger hunt without the riddles, Isaac.” 

Isaac hated having to lift a finger to get what he wanted. It’s why Isador was happy that Isaac was only here for gossip and not marriage. 

“Isaac, save the complaining for you boo,” she smiled as Isaac flushed a deep red. She laughed as he turned in his seat to hide his face. 

“Well, as you know, these things are always quick. If you have an answer to both riddles, then please come up and I can give you the last and final clue. Otherwise, I will see you all next week for it.” 

Chairs scraped against the wood of the pavilion. The chatter from earlier rose to its former height. Isador said goodbye to everyone. All princesses and princes, some brother and sister, competing for her hand in marriage.  She had known most of them through her childhood, but, once they grew up and had responsibilities, they all distanced themselves. 

Truthfully, she thought it was because everyone believed her family had no magic flowing through their veins anymore. And once you married into the family, the magic you already had disappeared as well. It was an ignorant thing to think considering her mother had magic in her voice and her father had superspeed.  But that didn’t matter to them. The family had lost the most precious and powerful gift the gods could have given them.  She sighed and watched everyone leave.  

“Prince Namjoon,” Ndaque was saying as she bowed. “How can Princess Isador help you?”

“Are you not a Princess, Ndaque? We drop titles in events like this.”

“I am a guard at the moment, Prince Namjoon.”

Isador glanced up (way up) to see Namjoon smiling at Ndaque. His dimples stretched and made his smile even more pleasing. 

“I have an answer to both of the clues.”

Isador’s eyes widened and gasped albeit a little dramatically. She peered over to Ndaque who shared the same face. 

She stuttered, “You do?”

“Yes. The second one gave the answer to the first. I like the way you did it.” “Then what it is?”

“A tree and leaves,” he kept smiling at Isador’s wide eyes. “I remember reading a book in Graele. It was a folktale about how trees came to be on our Earth. There were a lot of stories, but the one that stuck out the most?”

“Scales can turn into trees,” Isador answered his question. 

“Yes. Did your great, wow that is a lot of greats to say, but did her scales really turn into trees?” Isador nodded. 

“Amazing. Does the next clue give a direction as to what type of tree? Or where they might be? There were three if I’m not mistaken.” Namjoon started bouncing on his heels. 

“You only have to find one and return it to me,” she laughed nervously. His excitement was making her anxious. 

“Only one?”

Ndaque snorted, “Ambitious much?”

“Yes, loud one.”

“Um, well. Uh, well I guess I have to tell you the next clue. Um,” she stood up.  Isador barely met Namjoon’s chin. 

“The next clue is: This old one runs forever, but never moves at all. He has not lungs nor throat, but still a mighty roaring call. What is it?”

“That’s an easy one. I read it in a book. It’s a waterfall.”

Ndaque spoke for her. “It doesn’t matter if it’s easy. The hard part is still finding the scales.”

“But that’s where you’re wrong, loud one,” Namjoon frowned at Ndaque . “I know exactly what waterfall and where to find it. Your Princess told me.”

 Dammit.  

“Anyway, I’ll be off. I have some scales to find,” he started to trudge away before stopping and turning towards Isador, who had picked herself off the floor.  He took her chin between his thumb and index and made her look up at him.  For a moment, Isador thought he was going to kiss her. 

I will. But not today.

Oh.

“How are you able-”

“I have my ways, Princess,” he released her and his voice dropped to a low register so only Isador heard him. It was a voice that created butterflies in Isador’s stomach.  “Every kiss, every hug, every smile, every laugh, every moan you give…will be mine soon.”

here we are. it’s officially been 5 years since the release of my comfort movie, my 2nd favorite Scooby movie, and my 2nd favorite movie of all time. Scooby Doo and the Curse of the 13th Ghost.

if you follow me or at least see me online on a regular basis, you probably know that i LOVE this movie. i always loved it more than most people. (i would also call myself a curse of the 13th ghost stan. and i think i’m the only 13 Ghosts stan that loves it lol) i remember watching it at midnight when it came out because i was so excited and couldn’t stop thinking about it i literally couldn’t sleep that night until after i watched it. (that’s why this post is going up at midnight tonight) and well, this movie had a big impact on me for the past 5 years. seriously, it means a lot to me on a sentimental level, and i’m going to get into that with this post, and also me thinking about this movie all the time and my opinions on it. today is probably going to be an emotional day for me, filled with many different feelings and a lot of love.

anyways this is going to be talking about the topic of mental health so just be warned if that’s a sensitive topic for you (cause i know it is for people and i get that)

so let me paint a picture for you of my life around the time that this was announced and coming out. i was having the WORST mental health of my life. WHEN I TELL YOU IT WAS SO BAD OH MY GOD!!! i hated myself SOOOO MUCH. and was REALLY anxious a lot. i was dealing with a teacher that negatively impacted my mental health (she commented on my body sometimes, which made me feel even worse than i already did about my body back then, and did some other stuff that really pissed me off but we won’t dive into that right now) i was also living in deep regret of bad things i did online in 2018 and it was eating me up inside. i dreaded everyday. i had some pretty dark thoughts and couldn’t really see myself having a future. this movie was really the only thing that i looked forward to at all. (sounds dark but it’s true) because of my never ending hyperfixation over it and over the 13 Ghosts series, (which was caused by the release of the movie’s trailer, congratulations to my autism for that!!🥳😁) (though i was a 13 Ghosts fan before that, i actually started being a fan sometime in early 2018. i thought it was November 2018 up until a few months ago idk i was just misremembering) it was a distraction from my terrible mental health. it was an escape from the life i was living. this movie made me feel better. it’s not the ONLY thing that got me through that rough time in my life, there was music too. and one of my childhood friends that i still talk to on the regular is a person that got me through that rough time. she’s always there for me and i’ll forever be grateful for her, i love her so much❤️ but to say that it didn’t help me at all would be a lie. i didn’t realize that this movie got me through that rough time until last year, but im glad i realized it and i’ll always be grateful that it did. i’ll always be thankful that it provided comfort for me in a time where i really needed it. it gave me hope when i didn’t have much. and since i’ve lost friends and things that were important to me in recent years, i have related to how upset Vincent felt when he thought he lost Mortifer forever. plus, this movie gave me my Vincent and Asamad hyperfixations, and those two are big comfort characters of mine💙❤️ im not kidding when i say this movie changed my life.

i think about this movie 24/7. and it’s because of how much i love the artstyle, Vincent Van Ghoul and his outfits, Daphne and her outfit, Asamad Van Ghoul + him being the 13th ghost and Vincent’s ancestor. (top 3 Scooby reveals ever if you ask me) Velma telling Vincent that Asamad wanted redemption and was watching over and protecting Vincent and now that he’s safe, he can rest. (thanks Velma and Vincent! it’s your fault that i never stop thinking about Asamad!) Vincent’s plane, Vincent and Mortifer flashbacks. Mortifer impersonating the 13th ghost and betraying Vincent. (which i think there should be more jokes about in the fandom cause it’s funny to me) Mortifer’s car getting destroyed and it being implied to be Asamad who destroyed it in an avalanche when he appears to Vincent in a cloud of smoke and snow, (LMAO) turning back into his human form, proving that the supernatural IS real. and Vincent feeling at peace with Asamad after🥺 (THE scene that changed my brain forever. i honestly think it’s cinematic, along with the scene where it zooms into Asamad’s portrait and then zooms in on Vincent’s face and he looks down in shame. two of my favorite scenes in this whole movie and in the franchise in general) Mortifer causing avalanches with his car and just being a terrible driver in general. Castle Van Ghoul. the banger that is the song “Scoobystition.” Velma almost opening the chest at the end but chooses not to after everyone tells her no, making her question her doubt. teen Flim Flam. the chest of demons merch that Flim Flam sells. Vincent reuniting with his kids. Flim Flam reuniting with his old friends. you get the idea.

i’ve had criticisms about this movie before that a lot of the fandom has. hell, i made a video with some of them in 2021. and i will admit i remember ranting to an online friend back in 2019 that the Velma explanation thing felt like a big FU to 13 Ghosts fans. and i remember being disappointed with the ending after i watched it for the first time but i don’t believe that anymore and am not disappointed anymore. and i said i had sort of a love/hate relationship with this movie around the time i first watched it. but i don’t have those criticisms anymore and i just have a love relationship with this movie now. but no matter what, i could never bring myself to full on hate this movie. my love for this movie is too strong. stronger than any mass hallucination from high altitude oxygen deprivation in the Himalayas or any swamp gas😭

and it’s not that i don’t understand why people don’t like this movie/hate it/have those criticisms, because i do. also i get why people don’t like/hate return to zombie island. but i also like that movie and i don’t think it’s insulting or that the flashbacks shown there are lifeless or bad. and i think it doesn’t retcon everything about the original or too much. and i think it’s a good movie and i don’t think it’s a bad sequel and i also consider it canon. (plus the gang run monsters over with the Mystery Machine which is awesome and makes the movie automatically better. we should talk about it more because it’s hilarious!) even though i agree that the flashback scenes look better with the artstyle of the original ZI movie and that RTZI is not AS good as the original. i think no matter what would’ve been done, people in the fandom would’ve still been disappointed with any ZI sequel because they still would’ve said nothing could live up to that movie. even though i don’t think a ZI sequel is destined to be disappointing, im just saying other people still would’ve been disappointed with any ZI sequel. shocking, i know right? and i recently realized i only said i hated RTZI before because of how most of the fandom hates it even more than they hate 13th Ghost after i rewatched it. but i love the original Zombie Island movie too and always have) but starting sometime in 2022, i’ve started to see some things differently. (a good amount of my opinions change quite often)

now i’m going to talk about my opinions since a lot of them i’ve been DYING to say for the past year. (yes that’s a Vincent pun) before i begin, if anyone is like “you have a very poor understanding of 13 Ghosts you’re a fake fan😡” or makes jokes such as “do you work at WB?” or “ok Jim Krieg lol” or anything like that in the comments, reblogs, or my ask box, you’re getting BLOCKED. i am NOT in the mood today. or any day really, but ESPECIALLY today. and no, i am not joking. i am 10000000% serious about everything i have said in this post so far and am about to say. and as much as i disagree with a lot of people’s opinions on this movie + RTZI, im obviously not going to defend WB or any of their executives. i fucking HATE WB for a number of reasons and i could not give LESS of a shit about Jim Krieg. (the guy who demanded no magic or real monsters in this + RTZI, and i heard that he had more creative control over RTZI. i don’t think he was involved in Happy Halloween though i’m going to assume he was not) i actually hate him because he was one of the writers for Scoobynatural in which Dean Winchester, a grown man, tries to get with Daphne, a 16 year old, throughout almost the whole thing and Sam Winchester, also a grown man, kisses Velma, a 15 year old, than for his insistence to keep the supernatural out of this movie. (not that i think him trying to remove any supernatural elements was good or that any of the studio meddling behind the scenes was good cause i definitely don’t, i’m just saying i hate him way more for contributing to what happened in Scoobynatural and i feel like he should get more hate for that. that’s a bigger problem) and i also hate him because he was the writer for Scooby Doo Frankencreepy, which has a gross amount of fatphobia. he is responsible for that and we should recognize that’s also a much bigger problem than his mandates on 13th Ghost and RTZI. we should hate on him more for the fatphobia in Frankencreepy too.

i know some people are like “oh if he doesn’t like supernatural stuff in Scooby, then why did he work on two sequels to versions with supernatural elements?” which i get and i don’t disagree with! (though i do disagree with the way people go about it. and what i mean by that is them being like “that’s why they shouldn’t have been made”/that’s why these movies are bad. or say that the mandate ruins the movies or when people say that’s why we shouldn’t be doing sequels) i don’t know if he specifically made any other mandates for 13th Ghost or RTZI that wasn’t the no supernatural stuff one, and there were other decisions made by WB that most of the fandom were upset about. but regardless though, i’m still suspicious about him being a writer for Scoobynatural. and sure, the Scoobynatural episode is only canon to Supernatural + being one of the writers is different than being a co-producer + that episode was not for kids (the guy says he doesn’t like supernatural stuff in Scooby cause he thinks it’s too scary for kids) + they probably had to put supernatural elements because the show is called Supernatural obviously. and yeah sure, it’s not a sequel to a Scooby series or movie with supernatural elements, but it’s literally a crossover between Supernatural and Scooby Doo Where Are You. (the guys get sucked into an episode of Where Are You by a magic tv) and yes, you could also argue that Scoobynatural was about real ghosts not belonging in Scooby Doo, but there WAS a real ghost there that the gang saw!!! even though at the end of the episode, the gang went back to not believing, everyone else + the viewers know it was real. it is 10000% confirmed in the episode. (also Castiel, a literal angel in the Supernatural show, was there too) and that episode came out only a year before 13th Ghost and Return To Zombie Island. (and after doing a little research, and by research i mean looking on Scoobypedia, i found out that he was one of the writers for the series Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, a Scooby show from a decade ago that ALSO has real monsters. he was one of the writers for two episodes, both in season 2, so i’m also suspicious about that) basically what i’m trying to say is that i think something’s not adding up here/there’s something we’re not being told. and i read somewhere on the ScoobySnax blog that in an interview, he said he believes the message of Scooby Doo is that monsters being people in masks symbolize things not being as scary as they seem, and that there’s really nothing to be afraid of. i will admit, i don’t think that belief is bad at all nor do i care about him not liking supernatural stuff in Scooby either, but that’s not what the entire franchise is about. like we can still have fun with non-supernatural stuff in the franchise and then also have some fun with supernatural stuff in the franchise and some fun with ambiguity too! (i think he has this belief partially cause he probably grew up with only SD stuff that doesn’t have magic or real monsters) the way he goes about his belief? incorrect. the belief just on its own? neither correct or incorrect.

while i don’t think he should’ve worked on these films, i think if he really had to, he should’ve just not put those mandates on them and should’ve just pushed his belief to the side. sometimes, if someone’s working on something, there are some opinions that shouldn’t get involved in it. and this was one of those times. but yeah the other things he did that i mentioned earlier are definitely worse

AND ONE LAST THING!! this post was originally written in late November 2023 and has been edited many times since because i knew i wasn’t going to write this whole thing on the day of the anniversary + i kept thinking of things to say over time. just thought i’d let you all know❤️

okay here’s the opinions:

• i think curse of the 13th ghost is an amazing movie and was fun. i love the movie just as much as i love the series! i could never choose between them the same way i could never choose between Vincent and Asamad

• about its reputation specifically: this movie + rtzi gets too much hate from the fandom. now don’t get me wrong here, i’m not saying these movies don’t have flaws or that they are perfect because i don’t believe that. (i don’t think any Scooby movie is perfect or above any kind of criticism, not even Zombie Island) and listen, there are some problems i have with both and i won’t deny that. but i’ve been bothered this past year at points by the hate because of how much of it is there. not ALL of it but definitely a lot of it in the fandom. (i was bothered by only the hate for 13th ghost originally and then towards the end i started getting bothered by the hate for RTZI too) i just feel like it’s overwhelming, ya know? and im not saying people CAN’T hate them or not like them!! i’m not mad that people on the internet don’t like this movie!! (to be honest, i also feel like i have been too harsh on these movies at some points, especially RTZI) it’s just that almost everytime this + rtzi are brought up, there’s people who will jump at ANY chance to hate on them and sometimes it just feels like negativity for the sake of being negative and it bothers me. hell, sometimes they aren’t even mentioned at all in conversation like people will be talking about something else that’s Scooby related and then someone will bring them up randomly JUST to hate on them. like bro we GET it, you don’t like these movies. and i’m not saying that everyone does that cause obviously it’s not everyone, (and i am not bothered by anything my mutuals or people that i follow or people in the same discord servers as me have said at all i am not talking about them <3 im talking about some people in the fandom in general) but it REALLY pisses me off. like you don’t understand how much this shit gets me heated. i’ve been feeling this way for the past year and UGHHH it sucks because i don’t WANT to. but i do. anyways i think this movie deserves more credit for the good things it does. (same opinion applies to the other one, and i feel like these are underrated and misunderstood. not in a “you just hate fun and don’t get the complexity of this cinematic masterpiece” way, but in a “it’s not invalidating the originals or trying to invalidate the originals and the magic isn’t completely removed from them” way) and i know people are going to want to say “well, these movies were shitting on things that we loved so they deserve it!” but i disagree in every way possible 10000%. and regardless, it still hurts me to see a lot of people shitting on something that i love, especially since 13th Ghost means a lot to me on a sentimental level. not implying that it’s a personal attack on me cause obviously i know it’s not. don’t get me wrong, movies shitting on something you love is obviously terrible and does hurt. im just saying seeing a lot of people in the fandom shitting on something i love hurts and is terrible. the hate for 13th Ghost hurts me on a more personal level since that movie means so much to me on a sentimental level, but the hate for RTZI is more annoying to me since it gets more hate.

but ALSO i wish people would criticize 2 parts in RTZI more: in one of the flashbacks where they lightened Chris’s skin color (that was a mixture of a saturation issue and them actually lightening her skin color) and that part where a grown man tries to be romantic with Daphne, a teenager, and no one says anything about it. but this isn’t the first time a grown man was involved with Daphne or someone’s skin color was lightened in SD, so every time that does happen, that should ALSO be more criticized, not just in RTZI. we should bring more attention to that every time it happens, especially since we don’t do that enough. it’s wayyyyyy more of a problem than the things most people will hate on that movie for/criticize. we gotta focus on that more in the future. i also wish people would criticize the whole “confederate zombies being said to be the good guys” thing in Zombie Island more, but that is another conversation for another day. and i also am really annoyed when some people telling others not to watch these movies because they themselves don’t like it and think it’s bad or insulting or whatever reason they’ll say. and it’s mainly because i think people should be able to watch whatever they want and have their own opinions on it.

but yeah i definitely think these movies are hated on too much especially for the same reasons and i just wish they had better reputations i think they don’t deserve the hate they get. they don’t deserve the reputations they have. (i feel bad for these movies because of how much hate they get. i think it’s sad) the conversation around them is reductive. the conversation around these movies most of the time is “oh they say the originals didn’t happen,” “they retcon things from the originals,” “13th Ghost didn’t conclude the 13 Ghosts series/the gang didn’t capture the real 13th Ghost,” skeptic Velma, etc. it’s wayyyyy too much of that and not enough discussion about all the good things these movies do. they don’t get enough credit as much as they should. and there’s a lot to say about these movies. they’re definitely not movies that most people watch and then have nothing to say about them and they’re not forgettable. my feelings are complex okay guys😭

• Vincent’s plane is BEAUTIFUL when am i going to get to be on that plane????? this whole movie was GORGEOUS visually like they really made the backgrounds and literally everything look so beautiful. they did not have to go that hard but they really did. and everyone had GREAT winter outfits but tbh the gang always has great winter outfits so i can’t be too surprised. but yeah the winter outfits were amazing here, literally some of their best. and the Rubber Ducky being referenced was iconic

• i consider this movie to be canon and a good 13 ghosts sequel and finale, but just in the way most people didn’t expect it to be. i really love the Asamad redemption thing and i think it’s lovely that it brings peace to Vincent and now he’s at peace with his ancestor. and i know what you’re thinking: “Velma said she lied about it” and like yeah, she did say that. but because we saw Asamad appear to Vincent + because of her not opening the chest at the end because of everyone insisting for her not to, i believe that was her doubting herself and that Asamad really did get redeemed. she was like “ok i won’t open it because these ghosts might be real and i don’t want to risk that.” so i think it’s either she THINKS what she said about Asamad is a lie, but actually it IS the truth. or that, again, it is the truth and deep down, she actually does believe it but she’s just not admitting it because of her insistence throughout most of the movie to not believe in the supernatural. so i think the Asamad redemption thing is canon. and listen, i get that people wanted to see the gang capture the real 13th ghost in the chest. (it’s what i wanted too when the movie first came out) i get why people aren’t crazy about the Asamad redemption thing, that’s fine. and hey we ever get another sequel where Asamad is actually still evil and he does get captured, i would also love to see it. i still love the idea of him still being evil. (in general, i think there’s always more to add to the 13 Ghosts universe, so if they also expand on more 13 Ghosts stuff in general in a future piece of media, i would also be down to see it 10000%) though, ever since September 2019, i’ve been loving the idea of Asamad seeking redemption more than him still being evil. so i actually love this ending. (and especially if they ever expand on him and Vincent and the redemption thing in a future piece of media, i would be 10000% down to see it) (he’s the ONLY ghost from the chest im good with being redeemed, everyone else has to remain evil imo) and i think it’s a good ending for Vincent especially, now he doesn’t have to worry about his ancestor anymore and gets to have peace and move on, and the others don’t have to worry about finding him and capturing him. to me, it’s symbolic of letting go of the past/what haunts you and finding some sort of peace and moving on, now knowing that everything is going to be okay. and you’re starting to heal. and it’s very comforting, especially since i’ve been feeling that many times in 2023. so i’m content if this is the last time they bring 13 Ghosts back. i think it ended beautifully. it’s sweet and beautiful. (i can write fanfics as a way of expanding upon it, so i win either way lmao) i also get why people have a problem with Velma in this movie + RTZI. (im sorry i keep bringing up RTZI but i kinda have to since these are in the same trilogy and because of my feelings) but i personally don’t anymore? i used to, i even called this version of her insufferable a few times iirc, but after watching this movie like 483947384783378 times, i feel nothing towards her attitude at all now, and she’s not that annoying. even though i still agree that this is not an ideal version of Velma, it’s not an irredeemable or insufferable version of her either. and her character wasn’t ruined in my eyes at all. and she doesn’t ruin anything. but her explanations will always be fun to joke about! and i feel like people have been hating her more since these movies came out, which i think is really sad because Velma is an amazing character in general and has SOOO many lovable qualities.

also i cannot be a 2019 Velma hater because she gave me the Asamad redemption explanation. like she cooked with that and i am eating it up!! and i think the whole Vincent and Asamad thing fits 13 Ghosts so well because to me, 13 Ghosts as a show and the universe it takes place in is about family, whether blood related or not, and they are family since they’re blood related. and the gang is a family (found family, not blood related) and would do anything to protect each other and Asamad was protecting Vincent. so i think it’s actually a great ending to both the movie and the show. the story is wrapped up. but we can always go back to it and add more if we want. and i think that’s an ending that wraps up the plot of 13 Ghosts well. like i said, there’s always more to add to 13 Ghosts.

• ok for this next part im about to be so “well actually☝🏻🤓” with. Velma’s explanations are not her or the movie erasing the series and we weren’t supposed to take her explanations seriously. (sounds hypocritical of me to say i know cause i just said i believe in her AVG explanation but im just talking about the explanations that she used to try to disprove the supernatural now okay lol) she’s TRYING to “prove” it wasn’t real, but literally nobody else is agreeing with her and of course they know she’s wrong just like we know she’s wrong. the movie is saying she’s wrong. i feel like the whole sequel trilogy (that’s my new name for it) is saying her behavior is wrong. and there WAS a point in 13th Ghost where Velma believed in ghosts too before going back to not believing at the end. also in Happy Halloween, she kinda thinks about how’s she been acting and is like “ok maybe i should stop” and also says she trusts her friends more than science which is very cute. everyone else knows she’s wrong and she starts to realize it in Happy Halloween. and again, she refuses to open the chest at the end after everyone tells her not to. she CAN’T erase the events of the series or the events of Zombie Island, she doesn’t have the ability to do that, no matter how many times she screams “mass hallucinations from high altitude oxygen deprivation!” or “swamp gas!” so i think because of this + Asamad appearing to Vincent + Vincent making the cuffs that Mortifer put on him disintegrate + Mortifer’s illusions not really being explained + Vincent’s crystal ball teleporting the others outside also not being explained + the flashbacks, it’s proof that the series did happen and that magic and ghosts ARE in this movie. are there as much magic and ghosts as there are in the series? no, obviously not, but they’re still here. i think it’s the writers finding a way to work around the mandates and being like “we were told not to include magic, but this is literally magic right here.” (also i am of the opinion that real monsters in Scooby should be special and happen sometimes but not all the time, but that is somewhat different than what we’re talking about here. still always going to love real monsters in SD though!) (there was also a real cat person at the end of RTZI. again, still not as much real monsters as the original, but it’s still there) so Krieg TRIED to get rid of all the supernatural elements, but he didn’t actually succeed at it. this movie is not avoiding being supernatural, it’s just that there’s not as much magic here as there was in the original. i think this movie was done well even though yeah studio meddling is bad and i will always want things to be fair in the studio! (and it’s not the first time there’s been studio meddling behind the scenes of Scooby movies. even the ZI era had some) i really don’t think that this movie ruins the original, and the studio meddling did not ruin this or the entire trilogy it’s a part of. the original still exists people can still watch it whenever they want, it’s not gone. even if i did think the movie was bad like most people do, i still wouldn’t believe that it has the power to take away from the original or to ruin it. and it does not ruin people’s childhoods/poisons their childhood memories. this is also how i feel about any sequel or reboot ever made tbh. anyways im done talking about Jim Krieg i will not be talking about him anymore. so basically no, these movies never said or implied or tried to say or imply that the originals didn’t happen, they are not invalidating the originals at all. and they DO have some supernatural stuff in them, just not as much as the originals did.

• the scene where Vincent tosses the chest aside tackles Asmodeus when he tries to attack Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby is one of the best scenes in the entire movie like omg he really loves them🥹❤️

• Shaggy and Scooby were good at flying the plane idk maybe we should let them fly more planes in future SD stuff

• i think this movie is an important part of the franchise. and i think “Scoobystition” is an underrated Scooby song that should get more love.

• no this movie is not a nostalgic nightmare/nightmare in general or an insult/mockery to the franchise, the original, or the fans and i do not think that it shouldn’t have been made. it’s not pointless or a joke or disservice or disrespectful or cringe or disappointing/a letdown or that it’s a mess/doesn’t make sense or boring/mediocre. and the ending is not a slap in the face to the fans or bad or insulting or disappointing/a letdown or spitting in the face of the OG. and i don’t think that that the other 2 movies in the trilogy are all those things either or also shouldn’t have been made. the 3rd act of this movie is not bad/ruining it and is not the weakest part, (3rd act is actually one of my favorite parts) and these movies do not treat the audience like fucking idiots, etc. and i really also do not think that this is the worst Scooby trilogy or that 13th Ghost and RTZI are the worst Scooby movies. and i do not think this trilogy overall is not good/is bad and i do not think it’s a failure or a mess/doesn’t make any sense or that these movies are incompetent or unwatchable or irredeemable or frustrating/infuriating. and it doesn’t hurt for me to remember any of them, especially not this movie. im actually really glad this was made and like i said, it changed my life with the impact it had on me and how it got me through a rough time. like now i talk about Asamad and Vincent a lot. i ship Vincent and Mortifer. and the debut of Asamad led me to create an OC of mine who is his wife and i get to make fics about Asamad and his redemption thing. so i just CAN’T agree with people who say those things for those reasons alone. it’s crazy to think how i would be without it. i would still be hyperfixating over Shaphne, which isn’t a bad thing at all btw. im just saying, i wouldn’t be who i am right now if this movie hadn’t been made. and im glad the other two in the trilogy were made too. and i don’t feel insulted whenever i watch this movie or those. (i liked the sheriff being the villain in HHSD, i think it’s a good reveal and i think HHSD is a great movie too) tbh i also think 13th Ghost is the best out of the trilogy with Happy Halloween as a close second though i do think HHSD is the one with the best opening, and i definitely prefer this trilogy over the 80’s one and always will. i think it’s better. i like Ghoul School though it’s a cute movie <3 (i like Ghoul School better than RTZI and do think it’s better than that movie but i like this trilogy as a whole better than the 80’s trilogy and think it’s better) i also can’t look at this movie as a standalone film like my brain just associates it with 13 Ghosts automatically (same applies to the other one but with ZI of course) and i don’t think this movie would work better if it was standalone. (same with RTZI) i wish this trilogy got more love🥺 and i don’t understand how some people consider the first two some of the worst Scooby movies ever. also i don’t understand how some people think 13th Ghost is “just as insulting/bad” or worse than RTZI. and it also bothers me when some people will joke that they don’t exist. and no, the 13th ghost (Asamad) is not nothing or disappointing compared to the other 12.

• i don’t think the avalanche scene was too long or that there was too much of it. it didn’t bother me at all.

• i think Vincent couldn’t do magic for the most of the movie because he has trauma caused by his ancestor so whenever he sees him or someone that he believes to be him, he becomes powerless because his ancestor made him feel so powerless, like he couldn’t do anything. so it’s his body responding to whatever he was put through. this is based off him saying “ever since Asmodeus showed up, i haven’t been able to cast a single successful spell” (in-universe explanation)

• Flim Flam’s shop is one of the coolest things i’ve ever seen. also teen Flim Flam is awesome and so is his design! he still feels like the same guy but just older. and im happy that he’s doing well.

and yeah, i know Daphne and Vincent aren’t exactly the way they were in the OG. like there’s been a few changes made. but i love the changes and they’re both amazing characters and well written and i love them so much in both the series and the movie! and i don’t think the movie was saying/acting like that’s exactly how they were in the OG, just that it’s how they are in this movie. and it’s not ruining Vincent or saying/acting like Daphne was or is exactly like Fred and could do everything. and im not at the point where im like “WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE???” like that one Spongebob meme. they both don’t feel too different to me like i don’t think there’s been too many changes made. and im just going to headcanon that Vincent got more comfortable around the gang which is why he’s more zany and lets them call him Vincent and that Daphne changed a little because of her fighting the demons. i still get enough 13 Ghosts vibes from her hair and outfit and this movie in general so it works well. there’s just a little new vibe added. it fits 13 Ghosts well. (i think there was always going to be a new vibe added/some changes made and part of why is because this was made at a different time than the series + this is a DTV movie + made by different people than the series was) but yeah i think the changes were good and i don’t have any problems or criticisms with them, i don’t think they were bad at all. and im going to headcanon Daphne wore that outfit and had that hair offscreen back in the days of the OG. (and yes i know one of the writers said that they were aware Daphne wasn’t exactly like that in the OG, but that’s how they saw her while watching it. im just saying i don’t think the movie was saying she was exactly like that in the OG)

• speaking of Daphne and Vincent, the scene where Asmodeus attacks them and she protects him? SUPERB. also her doing a spooky pun for him and he gets so happy about it is so🥺🥺🥺

• i’m fine with Bogel & Weerd and Scrappy not being in the movie because there were some episodes of the series that Bogel and Weerd weren’t in. (obviously Scrappy was in every episode) yeah, it would’ve been interesting to see them brought back and im not saying they weren’t important characters in the show, im not against the idea of bringing them back and i don’t hate them at all. and im not saying the mandate to keep him out was good cause i don’t think that. i get why some people wanted them to come back, they are valid!! i remember wanting Scrappy to come back very much too around the time the movie was coming out. but im okay with them not being here. also Bogel and Weerd probably knew about Asamad’s redemption thing, so they were like “well, we’re not working for him now.” (in-universe explanation for why they aren’t in this movie) where was Scrappy during the events of the movie? Bogel and Weerd captured him and he went missing, but the others don’t know that and just think he’s still with his mom. why is he not included in the opening credits? Bogel and Weerd casted a spell so he wouldn’t be, they’re trying to erase any trace of Scrappy’s existence. (another in-universe explanation) (yes i know that the real world explanation is that WB mandated for him to not appear, and originally Flim Flam wasn’t allowed to be included either but they included him after a writer found a way to make him work in the story, but i just made my own explanation in-universe) and im not bothered by the “What’s A Scrappy?” joke it’s just whatever to me. like obviously i don’t love it but i’m not going in a seething rage over it. (i think i used to be bothered by it a few years ago, but im not bothered by it anymore and haven’t been for a while)

• about continuity: gonna have to talk about this for a bit. i don’t think there’s too much of what people will call “retcons” or “continuity errors.” i don’t think that the movie retcons everything from the original. and i think there’s enough references from the series to make the movie fit in the same timeline as it. and that’s all i have to say about that. (i do have this theory that Time Slime controlling time is why Flim Flam aged but the gang are teenagers though if anyone wants to read it)

you might be wondering who this movie and the entire trilogy it is from is for. the answer is me. i am the target audience. seriously, even if it is bad and im wrong about everything i just said, i still had fun with it! and i think that’s one of the most important things to me: to have fun with a movie. so if it’s trash, it’s MY trash and IM LOVING IIIIITTTT!!!!🥳🥳🥳 like that meme of a woman saying “what? i love garbage.” (also im the type of person that when i like a movie, 95% of the time i will genuinely think it’s good. and i will like something more after i rewatch or re listen to it lol) and i’ll take a bad movie ANY day over no movie at all. i definitely think there’s things in 13th Ghost that you might not notice on the first watch but notice during rewatches. and you know what? i really do love the mass hallucinations from high altitude oxygen deprivation in the Himalayas and swamp gas. sometimes they are just what i need.🤷🏻‍♂️

fun fact: i learned the term “criminal negligence” from this movie.

here’s to Vincent Van Ghoul, Asamad Van Ghoul, Mortifer Quinch, teen Flim Flam, the avalanches, Mortifer’s car, and the jokes and memories and posts that were made along the way by me and my friends. to the never ending theories. to all the daydreams i’ve had influenced by this movie, to the growth i experienced these past 5 years. to all the demons i conquered and am still conquering today. to all the other Scooby fans out there who like/love this movie. to that 3 month period where i and so many other people were excited for this movie. (even though i would never want to go back to that time period, it was fun getting excited and coming up with theories and seeing the clips drop, and i look back fondly on those memories) sometimes i’m still surprised by remembering that this movie is real and was made, like i almost can’t believe this is an actual Scooby movie.

as Vincent was healed by Asamad’s redemption moment, i was healed by this movie in some ways. there’s no other movie i would choose to lose my sanity over in a fun and cool way! happy 5th birthday my beloved <3 thank you for everything. im glad you won that “best nostalgia era movie” poll last year on tumblr. i’m always going to love you and i think you will be remembered regardless of whether the general fandom opinion of you changes or not. i’ll never let go of or get tired of you. i think it’s beautiful how a piece of Scooby media in general can have impact on a person❤️

Ok, I saved this one for last because I knew it would have the longest answer lol. I had the initial idea around December of last year/January of this year when I was almost done with my first read-through of Homestuck. I had the thought, “What if my OCs were in Homestuck?” That’s what I always think when I get into something, but I also thought about how that would change the story, and how things could’ve gone differently. The idea turned into what it is now, a retelling/redraw of Homestuck with my OCs in it. Having the original story but with my own art, and inserting segments with my own OCs and their stories.

I had come up with Page, her classpect, her classical element, her associated item, her planet, and things just kind of fell into place. Her element and class, lightning and mage, were reminiscent of Sollux and his psionics, and her Denizen, Marsyas, had connections to both Gamzee, being a satyr and also with her being a Rage player, and Rose, with the story of Marsyas being that he challenged Apollo, the god of Light, to a music duel, but he ended up losing and dying because of it. Her associated item, gold, is represented with the letters Au on the periodic table (thats just some fun trivia lol). For Wyllin, I have a couple ideas about how their story could go, but nothing super concrete. She’s a Thief of Blood, so there are some connections to Karkat (with his aspect) and Vriska (with her class) and how that affects her relationships with others. Rennoa is a Sylph of Blood, but a failed one, so it impacts her relationships her own group of friends, especially with how the Alternian version of her (The Composer, Wyllin’s ancestor) had an impact on the movement that the Signless made. And with Paul....... I would be getting into major spoiler territory >_O

But I also wanted to explore other things, like maybe expanding on the troll’s sgrub session, spending more time with John, Jade, Page, Davesprite, and Nannasprite on the Prospit Ship while they travel through the fourth wall, just the dancestors in general, and a lot more sburb lore with the denizens and planets.

And, I also want to make an epilogue to explore Earth C and the aftermath of everything. Just giving some closure and showing the characters healing and growing from everything that happened. Obviously I dont really have any concrete ideas since I’m only on act 2, but the idea is there! And im very excited to get to it, im excited to tell this story :)

I literally had to sit down on a computer and type this out because I knew my thumbs would not work fast enough on my phone. First of all, both stories: incredible, lovely, amazing, spectacular. I did originally first read ‘Sweet girl’ and immediately put a pause once I saw there was a prequel!!! Told in Daemon’s POV!!! I had to stop, drop and read. I am sucker for one-shots or fics told in the other’s perspective and boy did you do him justice. It truly felt like being in his head and essentially watching a dragon sculk around until he finds his prey. I loved the snippets he has of everyone in his head. His relations to not just the reader but Viserys, Rhaenyra, Sir Cole and Alicent and his constant dislike. He feels very much real and multi-dimensional. I was pretty worried when I saw the daemon/rhaenyra tag on ao3. I was ready to get my heart broken and stepped but I loved how their relationship was handled. I love that the reader is not a replacement but her own person. I love how big sis rhaenyra steps in when she sees what’s going in and is not the ‘you’re stealing my man who’s not my man’ trope but putting her sister first and putting her foot down. Despite rhaenyra being a huge part of the show, the fics I have come across don’t show much of the relationship between her and the OC/reader so it is refreshing to see the love and friendship between them.

AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE READER HERSELF. I know it’s told from a 2nd POV but the reader feels like a genuine character. She’s so collected and assure of herself. She feels ethereal. Like I understand why Daemon falls hard, how could one not? When I saw that she was called the people’s princess I nearly screamed with joy. She does give princess Diana vibes. I cannot even explain how but you can just feel her warmth, her royalty and sense of self in the writing. When I saw that she was learning Dothraki, again with the squeals. Despite it being prevalent in GoT I have yet to see other fics mention it but too see a reference made me jump with joy. And just the comment of daemon calling it ‘savage’ but her defending the culture despite not being part of it did make me smile. But to top it all off, her relationship with Athfiezar. The running joke of now one being able to pronounce his name but her. The trope of ‘big scary monster hating everyone but her’ again has me in a chokehold. Her stating that he just needed love so she gave it to him had my heart crying tears. I am in love and wold give to see their journey from meeting to him becoming her dragon. And again a small thing but he not using a saddle when riding him its giving Daenerys and ooof what I would give to be able to see Daenery’s thoughts on her ancestor.

In awe, I love your stories and the small world you’ve built and cannot wait to see more to come as the series continues : )

This is gonna sound so shitty, but I tagged 'Daemon/Rhaenyra (past)' on AO3 for a simple reason: traffic. I know, I know, I hate myself too. But it paid off, and I now have a pretty steady stream of readers for my fic verse. Because gevivys (beauty) and dōnus riñus (sweet girl) both dealt with the Rhaenyra/Daemon conundrum, I did think it was ultimately reasonable to tag this also; now that it has been dealt with, any future fics (like this one) will remain firmly untagged with Rhaenyra/Daemon, I can assure you!

Rhaenyra is BAE, hands-down, and I don't know if I want her as my lady-love or my mum, lol. She's a badass MF, and while there is/is going to be some GREAT anti-Rhae-Rhae fics out there in future Reader/OC stories, I couldn't do it. Rhaenyra and Daemon's relationship, while hot, is so fraught and painful in canon, and I wanted to toy with the notion that 'what if they decided it just wasn't worth the suffering? What if they had other goals?' I think it's paying off - though I will be making sure Rhaenyra's life is happier in the wake of Laena's passing, don't worry! And naturally because I friggin' love her I had to include her; given the age-gap between Reader and Rhae, it made sense that she was a weird blurring of lines between mother and sister and friend, and isn't that Targaryen realness, darling?

I'm so so happy you've enjoyed my characterisation of Daemon - I honestly doubt I'm ever going to do an extended fic of just his POV again, as it is so difficult to write as him. I really struggled with the last few chapters of gevivys (beauty) (except the smut lol), and balancing all the different aspects of his character. I will be either writing as Reader or switching off between them; also toying with 'Interludes' from other characters, just to practice some skills and do more world-building. This shit is gonna be as rich as canon, I swear to the gods! He is a creepy 'lil predator searching for his pretty prey, isn't he? And the 'characterisation' re: his relationships with others honestly crept up on me - I didn't realise this had become a narrative until like Chapter 7 of dōnus riñus (sweet girl). I thought there was a nice kind of symmetry to Reader claiming the Cannibal (her grumpy lizard man) and 'claiming' Daemon (her grumpy husband man), both renowned for their temper and violence. I may well end up doing a one-shot in future about her first meeting Athfiezar, but as of yet there are no big plans.

One of the things I am/am going to be tackling in this series is some of the incongruencies of Dany's character in Game of Thrones when compared to the rest of her family. She has several pretty unique qualities that don't really crop up anywhere else in the gene pool, and I thought that I could attempt to ret-con that here with Reader; I won't explain that fully, but I'm sure you can probably guess at my intent here. Let's just say, some of Daenerys's traits are hereditary after all!! For context, I'm going off show canon in that respect; again, won't explain further because I would definitely spoil it. It'll also serve as a bit more of an explanation as to why the Cannibal yielded so readily to 'lil babey Reader when there have been scores of others try and fail to do the same.

Do you have any takes on why fiamet is wearing a aquamino sign instead of one more connected to her theorized sign of canra? I have no idea what it means honestly

I've only given it a little bit of thought... while my first thought is to agree that Aquara would make a lot more sense, I can think of a few reasons why it wouldn't be that.

we don't really know at this point in time if the aspect bindings and lunar sways are actually "a thing" in-universe; like, does a troll know what it means to have a sign with a "prospit sway" or to be "mind bound"? if those things mean nothing to a troll then the symbol they choose as a disguise is totally random... and if those things do hold meaning to a troll, isn't it more likely Fiamet chooses a sign that doesn't match her birth sign, to enforce the deception?

I realise, of course, that there are symbolic considerations, and that Fiamet didn't actually choose her seadweller drag sign. it was chosen by... someone? artist? writer? and it might make sense to assume that whoever chose that particular sign had a reason to do so... however, I think it's been well established by now, through various insights into and comments concerning the game's development, that these characters were not designed with their zodiac signs in mind. it seems to be that Fiamet was designed by Andrew's hand, and notably, without a sign; Trizza, too, was Andrew's design, and when she was first conceptualised, she was a Pisces. i know many will disagree with me or calling me boring for this, lol, but I stand firm by my assertion that the signs given to the Hiveswap cast are of little significance. and while the low regard i have for classpect-oriented analysis in general plays into this, I do think the quote unquote ""randomness" of the Hiveswap trolls' signs is deliberate in its own way. signs had a significance in Homestuck where heroes were born from ectobiology, and there were forces of destiny at play causing Vriska and Aranea to be given the same sign. Hiveswap exists outside of that mythology, on a more "realised" version of Alternia, where Trizza can be born from the Condesce's gene and appear to be in almost every way a clone of her ancestor, but be given a totally different sign.

ALL that being said, i'm not totally convinced Fiamet's "true sign" is gonna be Canra just cus of the obvious axolotl motif... it's possible the axolotl look was a coincidence, or even more likely, that whoever designed the signs (which in contrast is a process of which we know remarkably little... to my knowledge we know who wrote the extended zodiac copy, but the making of the graphics is basically an unknown?) knew hiveswap would involve a limeblood with an axolotl motif and saw the opportunity to make one of the signs fit, even if it wasn't the sign in question. I'd be silly to deny, of course, the possibility, or even the likelihood, that The Axolotl Sign is in fact fiamet's. but my existing hypothesis on Fiamet's sign, which part of me would still love to be true, is based on this carving in Dammek's hive:

which looks a lot like Dammek's sign carved next to what could easily be some greenblood's sign, but probably not Canra. if it isn't a carving of Fiamet's sign, then i've no idea what it is! but i guess that's the kicker, that I really have no idea. it's been tempting to think of these trolls in terms we're familiar with, where everyone's girlfriend has to be a character we already know about. but like I said, we're outside of that Homestuck mythology now, and any troll can be friends with any number of trolls we just haven't met yet...
