just watched Dragons Rising S2... I am not okay and have many thoughts (SPOILER WARNING)
Please pardon how disorganized these are... :)
Nya and Jay's eventual reunion is going to crush my soullllll
All of the cool shots with Cole fighting have reignited my Man Crush Monday, and I'm not mad
Where are all the ladies? Pixal, Skylor, Vania, Akita? And what about side characters like Benthomaar, the Keepers, Scott, Unagami??? I desperately want to see them
The sorceress (Gandalaria?) is pretty funny, I loved the whole bit with the magic storeroom -- especially the mimic
Did Euphrasia achieve her True Potential when she stabilized the Cloud Kingdom island?
Ras floating into the sky for his interdimensional Zoom meetings has got to be pretty odd in-person...
What happened to Ash? If we've got Cinder now, did Ash die? Or did he retire? Some secret third option?
SOMEONE HELP MY BOI KAI
Seriously. Kai was wearing a wolf mask and yet he still went through the portal without any issues. How? Is it a plot hole? I thought I'd hit on a plot twist and then I was proven wrong, so... not sure...
Lloyd's whole panic attack plot line was... decent, but feels like it needs a little work in the writing department. Overall I love the idea!
What the heck is a Source Dragon Tournament?
Every single one of the Administration jokes landed. Solid 10/10. I was cackling at Cole's joke about a permit in triplicate.
THE DOG!!!! THE DOG!!!!! TOO CUTE!!!
Are the rest of the Ninja going to learn Rising Dragon Technique soon? Will Riyu and Sora get it together?
Will Arin ever actually figure out his object thingie (without bringing it up unsuccessfully another thirty times) before I get bored of watching him try? I hope so.
RIYU BABY YOU'VE GOTTEN SO BIG, I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!!! Now go eat your vegetables so you keep growing.
It took me a while to find somewhere to watch it (I don't have Netflix), but it was worth it. I'll watch Season 2 Part 2 (season 2B?) when it's out! I'm starting to warm up to the idea of a spinoff show, especially with the overarching plot pulling it together.

Other than catra/catradora, what problems do you have with the show?
oh boy, where do i even start? i'm just gonna try and keep it short because if i try to explain every single aspect in detail, this post could be turned into a book. so i'm just gonna list out all the problems i have with this show, both in terms of problematic elements and poor writing.
blatant ableism towards the autistic character
bullying and mistreatment of a young boy being played for laughs
war and desolation being used as an Aesthetic™ rather than a theme/message
rushed and poorly written character arcs (and no, it's not just catra)
amatonormativity and forced ships (the show is supposed to be representative of the LGBT community, yet almost all of the characters need to end up in a relationship, in order to have a happy ending)
boring and poorly written Final Boss™
too much fanservice (little snippets of fanservice is fine but when you ignore and disrespect canon just so you can make the viewers happy, that's a problem)
an entire kingdom is conquered and its people probably killed/seriously harmed, and its ruler is shown moping around in a bathtub and eating ice cream as if they got stood up by their date instead (this connects to my earlier point about war being trivialized)
the only non-binary representation being a shapeshifting lizard creature (look, i like double trouble as a character but you have to admit that they're not exactly good representation)
one of the most powerful female characters in OG she-ra being reduced to the "doting aunt" (for a show that claims to be about empowering women, they sure ignore the powerful women in canon)
weird pacing and inconsistencies (apparently two or three years passed within the five seasons, yet the characters haven't aged at all, especially frosta who supposedly went from 12 to 14, yet looks exactly the same)
the princesses are useless (they should have named the show 'Catra and the others' lmao)
overuse of character archetypes instead of making original characters (the peaceful vegan flower princess who sometimes loses her temper, the depressed emo girl™, the hyperactive child™)
stereotyping of certain communities (the high-functioning autistic genius, the angry latina, the predatory lesbian, etc)
bad comedy (this is probably subjective and i don't expect everyone to agree, but most of the comedic elements is SPOP was just.. corny. only scorpia worked well as a comic relief character imo)
the only polyamory representation being two bullies and their victim
death of the author™ (basically, confirming things outside of the series, instead of portraying them well in canon)
plot holes and unsatisfying conclusions (adora's origin was a huge plot point in s4 but they completely abandon it in the last season)
there may be a lot that i've missed because i have a goldfish brain and tend to forget stuff. but i'd say these are the main problems i have with the show. it did a few things right, but fucked up on a thousand others.

The Nimona movie is a very fun watch! Sweet and funny. A little different to the graphic novel (finally got around to reading the graphic novel just yesterday, definitely enjoyed it), but a solid overall adaptation of the novel's themes and the lovable, silly, and emotionally-touching characters. Very lively, extremely expressive animation and super fun, vibrantly colored, interestingly shaped and textured world and character design. I would honestly love to see the frames of this movie turned into a graphic novel of their own. I am personally a huge fan of the techno-fantasy / techno-medieval aesthetic. (The similarities between Nimona and the She-Ra reboot are obvious and imo super fun. I enjoy both stories.) Also, yes, one of the main characters is a man explicitly in a romantic relationship with another man, and that was very nice to see.
I have a couple worldbuilding plot hole quibbles (personal nitpicky stuff that didn't detract from my enjoyment) and I also personally think that the pacing of the movie was a little quick in places. There could have been clearer indication of the passage of even more time. It could have lingered more and allowed for even more slower and quieter moments, going a little deeper into things, but (that's what fanfiction is for, ha ha) that opinion might just be because I liked the characters and relationships so much that I wanted even more and even more detail. I intend to read the graphic novel again and then watch the movie again soon to appreciate the details and enjoy them for a second time.
I've seen some people give flashing warnings but can't personally speak as to the details of that, other than to say the flashing seemed pretty average for an animated movie to me (animated movies are not great with flashing, as a rule, now that I'm thinking about it), as opposed to something nonstop like Spiderverse. Something to look into, though, if that's a concern for you.
Story-wise, I would also warn for some pretty explicit themes of othering to the point of suicide ideation and actions that could be considered a suicide attempt. The film also (slight SPOILERS for the first 10 minutes or so) opens with a non-gory murder and someone losing an arm, which is quickly replaced by a robotic prosthetic, and the struggles of that injury and disability are kind of glossed over. There are casual discussions of murder in the movie as humor, but they veered away from the sort of explicit casual murder that happens in the graphic novel.
Apparently giving stuff a double thumbs-up (the "I love it!" option) on Netflix is important to supporting the film (one of the metrics that high-ups will be looking at or something), if you can do that and wish to do that. If you're watching it another way and want to show support, then I'm sure that happy reviews on film sites, posting positively, and generally encouraging friends to watch it are also pretty good ways. I wish the movie had had even a brief theater release near me, but alas, I shall have to content myself with enjoying it on the small screen. I wonder if they managed to create any merch for this movie. I'd love a Nimona t-shirt or something.

Many people say there were plot holes in The Glory about each crime and that the successful punishments depended too much on coincidences. But the way I see it, things are left open enough and we don't actually know how the discovery of each crime is staged, we just know the abusers received what was coming to them. That's the plot, it's not a mystery or detective show, it's a revenge drama. (SPOILERS AHEAD).
Take Teacher Kim's death for example. We know how he died but we don't know how he was found by the paramedics. Let's say his son moved some of the bouquets to another room after the teacher fainted and said he was moving them to where they wouldn't pose a danger to the teacher before the latter arrived home, but he busied himself before he could move them all. His father arrived home earlier than expected, saw the remaining bouquets in the room, panicked, dropped his inhaler, his son couldn't listen or help because he was in another room.
The police wouldn't be able to prove it happened otherwise.
Did he buy the flowers? No, they were gifts sent to him. Were his fingerprints on the flowers? Yes, of course they were, they were sent to him and he received them at the door. Were his shoe/footprints in the room? Yes, of course they were, it was his father's house.
Even if they were suspicious, they would need motive to build a circunstancial case. But they can't investigate motive if the physical evidence doesn't point to anything else than this being an accidental death at worst.
The point is that none of that matters because the spotlight isn't meant to be on the police but on the protagonist who is setting these events in motion.
As for the coincidences, I agree that Dong-Eun couldn't have known certain things would happen the way they did no matter how much she planned her revenge, but I also think those things weren't in her original plan. It seemed like she had clear goals but was flexible enough on how to achieve them. That's her established character. She didn't know what happened to Myeng-o immediately, but she was happy with the result and moved on.
And I think some others like Jae-Joon's crash and death were simply luck being on her side, which plays into the symbolism and irony of the story as well. Dong-Eun doesn't believe in God but she caught many "lucky breaks" in her journey as improbable as they seemed.
From the beginning, what were the chances that Yeon-Jin's own maid would need help with a revenge too? Dong-Eun says so herself.
There is even the no-so-subtle introduction of a God that believes in punishment when Dong-Eun "prays" to Him in front of Sa-Ra.
So, yes, that's one of the themes of the show rather than a plot hole.

I’ve been dying to know, what’s the premise of your Redemption Arc Therapy au? Do they all live together? Who all is in it?
Sorry this took me a while... I had so much to say but I didn't exactly know how to put this into words heh 😅
This crossover includes Avatar the Last Airbender, She-ra and the Princesses of Power, Tangled the series, The Owl House, and My Hero Academia (so many fandoms, I know 😭)
So, in this au, one of my ideas is that the five worlds merged when Varian and his VAT7K friends opened a portal to the Eternal Library. The portal machine was old and probably broken so now there's just 5 random portals that popped up in each world.
There are seven characters in my R.A.T. Group and they all live in the same apartment building: Zuko (ATLA), Varian (TTS), Catra (SPOP) , Amity (TOH), Hunter (TOH), Cassandra (TTS), and Bakugo (MHA). They all met at a therapy group session. Now the reason they chose to live in apartments, I don't know. Maybe since the worlds merged, the population just got so big and there weren't enough houses...? But Zuko still has his Fire Nation Palace, though...?🤔
Now that I'm writing so much of this idea down, I'm realizing that there are so many plot holes, but I'm too tired to fill them . I just love the idea of them all being friends lol😅
Zuko, Varian, Hunter, and Bakugo all used to live in the same apartment but Bakugo and Varian's arguments were so loud that Zuko and Hunter got annoyed. Somehow, they found a way to live in seperate apartments. Varian lives with Hunter while Bakugo lives with Zuko.
Cass, Catra, and Amity live in the same apartment. Cass and Amity sometimes get annoyed when Catra doesn't clean after herself, but it doesn't get bad enough to the point to where they kick her out. She still pays the bills, at least...
I hope these answered your questions. Thanks for sending an ask! 😊

I'm really curious because I'm rewatching ouat and don't remember Regina mind wiping her abuse from Henry.
Did she do it when she wiped his memory of telling him her plan in... Season 2, I think is when she planned to escape with Henry. Or did it happen later on?
(Asking because retconning the many mistakes this show made is sooooo hard when I can't keep track of everything she or gold/others have done.
Also yeah poor Henry was definitely abused.
Like wtf was Regina's plan with him and with Owen.
Owen knew she wasn't his mom. Knew his dad wasn't gonna leave. If she kept him, he would have been even more screwed up than he was before.
Henry was gonna grow up too and she knew that.
She knew that the curse was gonna last for at least 28 years.
What happens when Henry is an adult? Or a teen?
Poor kid already gave up on making friends because they DON'T age with him before he even got the book.
I read a fic once about 'what if emma left the night she came' and dear god, it was a one shot and depressing. Because Henry ended his life as a teenager.
Which is realistic.
A person ending their life or running away or actually going crazy in those circumstances was guaranteed no matter the kid she adopted. Even if she hadn't adopted the savior's kid.
Even if she adopted Emma herself or August or A KID FROM THE WORLD WITHOUT MAGIC.
What RA's don't acknowledge is that her adopting a kid with full knowledge that the curse was gonna last for at least 28 years, if not more, was pure abuse and likely to end badly even if the kid wasn't resourceful like Henry.
Because she was ensuring they'd basically have a short miserable life.
They can't keep friends. They can't date. They can't have kids if the curse isn't broken.
Jefferson as a grown man went nuts because of it (though to be fair, he already had trauma of his own). Imagine being a kid who doesn't know different but KNOWS it's supposed to be different because of what everyone else thinks their lives are like/vis tv.
Like. REALLY. What was Regina's plan?
But yeah. Mind wipe. Sorry about the tangent.
Oh this is a good ask about a popular fandom saying that probably needs clarification!
Regina “mind wiped the abuse from Henry” is… in a way… MAYBE more of a head-canon than canon because canonically speaking we only know for a fact that Regina erased her plan to kidnap Henry and murder his loved ones. That is the only thing made explicitly clear since the scene is about that plot and Henry’s line after is to show that he doesn’t know anything about her plot anymore. Which when we say that we’re talking about this scene from late s2:
Tumblr media
HOWEVER. It just makes logical sense that Regina mind-wiped ALL of the abuse since Henry goes on to act like she never emotionally damaged him which is a complete 360 to what the show portrayed and what he said prior to the “mind wipe” incident. So if this is a head canon it’s a damn good one that is heavily supported by the show’s canon and evidence of retconning.
Regina didn’t have a plan for Henry or for Owen past needing them to love her. She needed them to fill the evil hole in her heart. And like a true narcissist, she figured they should be grateful to her for the life she would give them. She never thought about anything else but herself. The show never really told us much more.
But your tangent is 100% spot on. Agreed. And yes, that fanfic sounds depressing! But true.

Stargate rewatch: 1x17 Solitudes
Tumblr media
aka episode of the blurry/dark screenshots. What is this, Game of Thrones?
A Brad Wright episode, and the debut of the franchise’s most prolific director Martin Wood.
Jack and Sam bond over his broken bones and her inability to make a splint, heh.
It’s Siler! aka Dan Shea, RDA’s stunt double and later Stunt Coordinator.
Hammond giving him half the time Siler says it will take to fix the Gate and Siler going “it doesn’t work that way sir” is great, nice subversion of a trope.
Tumblr media
lol, how many times do we get an extreme close up on Daniel’s face and a blurry pov shot of him waking up from being k’o-ed on this show? A lot, I can tell you.
Sam correctly identifies their situation (option 2) but gets stuck on the probabilities of the SGC finding them, leaving Jack to be the optimist. Nice callback (unintentional or not) to him sarcastically telling Samuels in 1x02 to “let me be the optimist for once.”
Sam then deduces that the matter steam jumped to a different but nearby Stargate, just as Daniel comes to the same conclusion. Wonder Twin powers, activate!
Tumblr media
At least they got good lighting in the close ups!
The gang's all here - even Harriman (who as this point is just Airman/Technician).
I do love it when they use the plexiglass map.
Tumblr media
What is Siler’s job anyway? Chief engineer?
Sam identifies this symbol (far right) as the point of origin on the DHD. We later learn this Gate was the original one used by the Ancients and this could conceivably be an Alteran-esque symbol since we know their written language is block based and their aesthetic is heavy on the circles. It could represent a sun and a pillar, or maybe a Stargate itself.
It does explain away a bit of a plot hole with Earth’s point of origin being a pyramid if the gate was built pre-Ra. It makes more sense that this is the original Earth point of origin and the other was built/chosen later.
Tumblr media
Oof Jack coughing up blood onto the snow.
Why Sam doesn’t try to dial any addresses other than Earth - la la la don’t think about it. Sam's brain too cold to function I guess?
Or maybe the DHD has something else wrong with it? We learn later that connecting the DHD designates that gate as the primary gate on Earth, so really the SGC gate shouldn’t be working at all if Sam is trying to use the Antarctic gate.
Nice little moment where Sam says that if they don’t make it she won’t have any regrets, and Jack says he’ll regret dying - a good reflection of both their characters.
Daniel with his ever-present coffee, but this time with good reason. There’s a cool shot of him in the control room worrying, tracking up to Hammond in the briefing room worrying. Martin Wood loves a tracking shot. I love a tracking shot too.
I also love how interactive the set is, the gate room, viewing room, briefing room, and Hammond’s office are all connected allowing us to move through the set as if it were a real facility.
Tumblr media
“I should have gotten you out of here by now.” Aw, Sam! Telling language through use of “you” and not “us.” She’s the problem solver but can’t solve the problem, and even though Jack is in command, given his injury she’s now the one who feels responsible for him and his safety when usually it's the other way around.
Amanda Tapping is great in this episode, we don’t often see Sam so frustrated, unable to push through to find the answer.
Also a tender moment when Jack calls out for Sara and Sam, having been told earlier that Sara is what got him through a similar situation, giving him the comfort of “I’m here, Jack.”
Tumblr media
Uh oh, I think that means there’s a T-Rex around!
“We ruled out a world we shouldn’t have.” Daniel thinking forth dimensionally again! Even separated the team are still working together, the juxtaposition of Sam trying and failing to the dial the gate but Daniel still receiving the message is great.
Ah, I love it when they work a retcon into the plot! The SGC installed “frequency dampeners” that stopped the shaking of the gate (and made the trip through smoother/less cold), so the shaking now is unusual and helps them solve the mystery.
Tumblr media
Aw, Hammond going along with the rescue party. He’s well and truly Papa Hammond now!

Hello! It's been a while since I asked you something
So, i'm not really into ffxiv stuff (like, plot, game itself, etc) but I'm extremely curious about your oc Kiril. Due to this i came up with some questions (they're so basic, because i need to know at least something to ask a proper question)
1. Can we get a lil' bit of Kiril's backstory (other than running away from home). As far as i understood, he ran away with his sister/friend Yesui and something bad happened to her. So, maybe now you can give some extra details on their runaway and her death (if it was death, obviously)?
2. What about Kiril's parents? I didn't get the thing about forehead scales (maybe, it's described in ffxiv wiki or smth, idk) and who were they? Some sort of a ruler? Just soldiers?
3. Not really important but how do you pronounce Kiril and Yesui's names (full, of course)?
So, I'm glad to write again and being eager to wait for your new answers
Probably, if it doesn't bother you, i'd ask more questions in future about Kiril
wheee!!! oh i’m so happy to answer any and all questions about him he’s my current muse. there’s going to be a lot under here you‘ve been warned.
1) I actually rolled Kiril’s last name and ended up getting one of the tribes with canon lore which is GREAT for me bc it helped me mold his backstory more. I’m not at the part where I actually get to learn about ‘em in-game cuz i only started playing like a month ago but to boil down what I know, the Dotharl tribe believes in reincarnation & as a whole the Xaela- pausing. Kiril is an Au Ra (race), a Xaela Au Ra (black scales; nomadic), and a Dotharl (tribe). hope that makes sense lol. anyways as a whole the Xaela are pretty unwelcoming to outsiders and even Xaela from other tribes. Every year they have a Naadam which is battle where the victor “claims dominion” over the Azim Steppe (homeland) for the year. The Dotharl emphasize not fearing death and not being a fucking pussy
all of that is setup LOL. Anyways, Kiril was born shortly after the death of a notable warrior (also named Kiriltugh) and so he was set on the path of becoming a warrior since essentially day one. thing is, he a.) hated it and b.) was shit at it. he struggled to pick up even the most basic parts of fighting and suffered a lot of berating due to it. at the same time, an older girl in the tribe was making strides and becoming a veritable golden child in the eyes of the adults. that was Yesui! she was incredibly strong for her age and seemed to have a natural gift for battle. but very importantly, she was also understanding of Kiril’s struggles & helped train him even after plenty of other people had declared him a lost cause. eventually though, despite her best efforts (and Kiril’s improvements! turns out a mentor who doesn’t yell at you is a lot more effective) Kiril made up his mind to just. leave. when he told Yesui about his plan, she insisted on coming with him. even with Kiril protesting (you’re doing fine here; don’t ruin your life by coming along!) she wasn’t going to let a 10 year-old leave on his own.
They travel together for an undecided amount of time- left vague so I can update it when i get to later expansions (heehee) until they eventually end up in Coerthas, a snowy region. To my understanding this is pretty fucking far away so I think they must’ve argued their way into an adventuring party or several to make it all that way. they didn’t exactly have a plan; it was just “keep going until we feel like it.”
(a realm reborn spoilers until the next question.)
in Coerthas, things take a pretty sharp nosedive for the two of them and they end up alone and very, very lost. their adventuring party was attacked by a beast tribe and the materials they were carrying were ran off with. They manage to find a cave which offers them a small amount of shelter. Yesui leaves Kiril there while she goes to look for any kind of settlement they might be able to hole up in. she’s gone for ages. and when she comes back, excitedly promising Kiril she’s found someplace safe, she seems… off. she’s holding his hand a little too tight, moving a little too fast. she assures Kiril that where they’re going is safe, warm, and “beautiful”, but the storm raging around them only seems to be getting worse.
…i’m gonna get a little more technical from here because i want to make the rest of this into a comic rather than writing it out.
what’s happened to Yesui is she’s become enthralled by a primal god. Garuda, the resident primal of the region, is in the process of being summoned by the same beast tribe that attacked them, with the items they were transporting (large quantities of crystals). the more followers a primal accrues, the more powerful they become, and something in the region has caught her attention.
Kiril.
so, using Yesui as means to draw him to her, she means to take control of him as well. unbeknownst to either of them, Kiril is under the protection of Hydaelyn, a different (benevolent) goddess who grants Kiril immunity to the thrall of primals. in shielding him, She also ends up shattering the crystals being used in the ritual, causing it to fail. in the ensuing chaos, Kiril escapes with Yesui and manages to find an actual settlement. he begs for help for him and his closest friend- who has remained enthralled even after the disruption of the ritual.
the thing about those who become enthralled is that there is no helping them. what’s more, every follower is another source of strength for a primal.
she cannot be allowed to live.
despite his desperate pleas, despite his promises that she’ll never hurt anyone, Yesui is put to death.
he is far, far from home, and he’s never been more alone in his life.
….then some stuff happens and he becomes an adventurer. i don’t wanna fill in everything just yet, haha.
2.) His mom is a goldsmith and his dad’s a hunter! His mom’s forehead scales are just a trait female Au Ra have. men don’t tend to have as many/any scales there.
3.) Key-rill-too (full name is Kiriltugh) and Yesui is like. yeh-sooey. kinda :?
Kiril doesn’t tend to go by his full name because he feels he hasn’t earned it. this is more so a thing before he saved the entire realm; now it’s more of an affectionate nickname from friends.

THE STATS:
physical appearance
Very dark brown hair, in certain lighting, it may look black. She is Arabic and Chinese. 5'8'', curvy and has a very sweet and soothing voice (honeysuckle like!) despite her very stiff and formal choice of words. Clothes? Designer, or handmade. Makeup? Always flawless.
gender / sexuality/ birthday /age
female. demisexual. may 15th. she is played around fourty years old as a default, physically, on this blog-- unless we are writing pre-damian and in 70s/80s detective comics world. then i'll have her physically around 32.
the link to the talia!tag
Tumblr media
ON THE RECORD:
THIS IS A TESTING MUSE ! STILL UNDER DEVELOPMENT !
I am still reading through her storyline, but as of right now her interpretation is pre-m*rrison personality/design and excluding of death of the maidens. P.S. as I am continuing to tweak damian's introduction that honors his past, but is reconciled with talia's previous history and personality-- please be patient with me! the MOST IMPORTANT thing is that we are following the Son Of the Demon and his conception was 1000000000000000% consensual. Ras's Al Ghul had intercepted the adoption attempt, and began to raise Damian in secret- on his own. By the time Talia had realized what had happened, she decided to return to her father and try to mitigate/lessen the damage and trauma that young Damian would endure. This would better align with memories of talia via tomasi's son of batman series, where she played a more sympathetic and active role as she tried to plan an escape for both of them.
if you want some resources talking about the very unfortunate r*cist turn talia's character has been taken to post 9/11 comics, and how her character's original origin should be taken (cw: mentions of SA): here are a few things.
I'm super open to her interacting with literally anyone, but I ask that no one treat her as a mustache twirling kind of villain. It can be easy to, because a LOT of more recent comics has portrayed her as such-- so if you want to base something off their previous interactions lmk, and we can work something out
Tumblr media
SHORT BIO:
Talia Al Ghul is the Daughter of Ra's Al Ghul (Aka The Demon's Head), and a high ranking member of the League of Assassins. He is an ecoterrorist and dedicated to saving the planet at the very cost of the humans that live within it. He is also in possession of the famed Lazarus Pits.
She has operated as both an anti-hero/anti-villain who is consistently torn between her loyalty to her father, and her love of her life: Bruce Wayne. She believes in the mission of a more natural world, but has also shown to value life, and it often puts her at odds with many people.
She's gone to college in Egypt to study medicine. She's operated as a 'right-hand' woman to Ra's operations in the League of Assassins, she's been CEO of Lex-Corp, she was the one to dunk Jason into the pits and train him into the Red Hood, she is the biological mother of Damian Wayne, she has blown up infinity island….. She's like barbie, to me.
ABOUT THE LAZARUS PITS:
I understand that depending on the writer, on the 'plot holes' needing to be solved, or just the series-- the Lazarus pits origin and means has changed a bit. By default, I will be resorting to artificial pits that have been made from various poisonous chemicals that have the ability to prolong life expectancy/stop fatal wounds and to 'bring back the recently parted'). This is not a fix-all. If you want more details and comic recs on where I'm basing this off, feel free to DM me!

Okay here's a She-Ra plot hole I just realised. When Horde Prime chipped Scorpia and Mermista, it was at the underwater soiree and they were in their fancy party outfits< yet afterwards, they changed back to their regular looks. W.hy did Prime make them change clothes... heck, why didn't he have them wear his horde robes like Catra did when she was chipped. It'd honestly be a more effective psychological tactic to have them wear the white robes, to show the Etherians that resistance against him was futile, that all would serve him and be a part of him.

s3 ep2 huntara
ahahah I love this one
(if you're new here: i'm rewatching She-Ra for fic-writing purposes, and live-blogging my way through them making commentary and jokes and side notes about random shit. bc this is a REwatch there are many references to later plot points)
Tumblr media
is that the Beta Kindergarten
(man I've been making a lot of Steven Universe references in these lately, but yeah I can't look at sandstone slot canyons without thinking "hrr hrr where's Jasper")
(wait has a Jasper cosplayer actually taken photos in one of these in like Utah? a quick image search says no. damn.)
Tumblr media
how many times did I look at this establishing shot before I realized this part of the Fright Zone is the ruins of a ginormous spaceship
ALSO "day 135"? I noted yesterday that someone working on the show said sOMEWHERE that each season is about a year and I was like "ehhhh" but I guess that's not far off.
That makes the whole catradora arc even more angsty tbh. For some reason I thought the whole show took place over like a single year or so. But FOUR OR FIVE YEARS?? they pined for each other while trying to murder each other for MULTIPLE YEARS????
Tumblr media
awwwwww
Listen. I love this ship. I'm always weak for "complete asshole with tough act is soft for one (1) person"
(tho lemme tell you. do not actually date those dudes irl. *sigh*)
Tumblr media
why did so many 80's cartoons have extremely unrealistic quicksand scenes tho

The Crimson Waste is actually just a western bar full of furries. But seriously designing the characters in the bar must've been hella fun
Tumblr media
AAHAHAAHH Adora being so, so blatantly gay for Huntara is one of my fave things
Did they need to establish that Adora is into women? Pfft, no. Did they still decide to show us Adora being absolutely smitten on sight for an older, big, buff, badass, butchy lady? YES.
Tumblr media
Doesn't hurt that she looks likes this lol
Tumblr media
like it's the least subtle thing on EARTH i love it so much
oh no now I want to look up fics
Tumblr media
18 of them are explicit. well. I'm just gonna. leave that tab open.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
ADORA. YOU COCKBLOCKED HER. RUDE.
lol there's a moment where Glimmer and Bow are like "ha ha we need to talk amongst ourselves" and turns around and Adora is still just staring at Huntara with googly eyes without noticing what Bow even said and lemme tell you, I've been that fucking obvious and oblivious
Huntara literally is like "oh my god you kids are gonna end up DEAD without me. FINE." Meanwhile, Adora:
Tumblr media
Plot plot Huntara leads them to a trap and they get hit with tranquilizer darts and dropped into a pit.
Tumblr media
that's just a nice shot tbh
Tumblr media
EAT SOME DAMN SOUP your girlfriend spent TIME on that
Tumblr media
she just refuses to be afraid of him
Anyway yeah this is when we find out he's just a clone of Horde Prime the Big Baddy of the series, Hordak is a "defective" clone, he was sent to "the front lines" to die and fell through a portal into Etheria. "with nothing but a broken ship, I built an empire..." the whole point of the portal is to bring Horde Prime through, which means that's what he was doing when he tried before and ended up with A Magic Baby (Adora) instead.
The animation in the flashback is clearly inspired by Lotte Reiniger which is super cool??
Back to the Crimson Waste, they've gotten themselves out of the hole, and Adora's upset because the whole point of this mission is her getting more info about Mara with the hopes of understanding her own past better
Tumblr media
she's RIGHT
Tumblr media
"...at least to me..."
Tumblr media
LISTEN TO YOUR CUTE NERDY GIRLFRIEND YOU EMO BASTARD
She makes him a nice techy exoskeleton armor thingie
Tumblr media
that's a start but c'mon I know you can do better than that
lolol the recorder baby critter KICKS HIM in an obvious "dude really????"
Tumblr media
look at him!!! AAHAHAH
Tumblr media
i'm gonna go over the image limit and tumblr's gonna cut me off and make me reblog this any minute now but this episode is jUST TOO GOOD
"I like being friends with you, too" ;_;
Huntara's "friends" make fun of her for being a softie while she swings the She-Ra sword around and then Glimmer drops in wooo
Tumblr media
yeah I know this is a fight scene but eheheheh
Tumblr media
and then they banged
okay they kept fighting but like, c'mon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the "sword point under the chin" thing is just so good and I loved the way they did the angles here
OH SHIT I forgot Huntara had heard of She-Ra
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OH HO HO HOW THE TURN TABLES
Anyway Huntara does her little speech about how she also used to be a Horde soldier but left because Hordak was such a dick to his soldiers. "you would know, you were one of us."
Tumblr media
called THE FUCK OUT
Tumblr media
Huntara does her little "you can't defeat the Horde alone even if you're She-Ra" and she responds with "yah I'm not alone tho"
but also that shot is unnecessarily hot
....i've hit the image limit with two minutes to spare so I went back and deleted one because
Tumblr media
hggghh
(not gonna get into how Shadow Weaver's face-touching thing is what made Adora do it here but yeah)
Huntara tells her minions to get lost, admits that the war scared the shit out of her and that's why she ran, but she knows that's bullshit and she promises to help Adora stop the war :D and then leads them to the place they were originally looking for: the ruins of Mara's ship!
AND EPISODE OVER
(gonna...see if any of those fics are any good 👀)

honestly I think damian was the only non-dcau addition to the beyond batfamily that worked in that timeline
Really? I don't know much about Batman Beyond, but I think Damian's existence in that universe has some plot-holes if you're gonna take the show into considerations.
Like how the only reason Amanda Waller changed Terry’s father DNA to Bruce's DNA is because she wanted Batman to have a son to take over for him, which wouldn't make sense for her to do if Damian was around at that time or that episode where they had Ra's take over Talia's body to trick Bruce into using the Lazarus Pit to turn young so that he then can take over his body and pretend that he's Bruce's and Talia's son in order to control/steal all of Bruce's funds, even though they already have a son and he could have taken over his body instead? Which wouldn't really be necessary since at that point Damian would have already taken over the LOA?

can someone please help me find this tim drake fanfic
okay, so like the plot of the story was that tim accepted this wack deal from ra’s that he’d train with him after he got put into the lazarus pit, and tim said yes bc i forgot (i forgot a lot of things take the lazarus pit stuff with a grain of salt
but this is lazarus!tim (at some point in the fic) and prudence is his bestie in this fic, (she makes out with a lot of ppl and also gets the other ninja drunk) but basically ra’s is training tim by chaining him over the lazarus pit and trying to stab him with a spear
there was also these lazarus flowers that had no center thing and instead was just a black hole into their stem, and i remember tim drank tea made out of this flower
also at one point he goes into a lazarus induced rage and destroys like a good amount of nanda prabat soooo-
ra’s is also being creepy, and there’s an girl LoA ninja OC in there (i’m pretty sure, i could be wrong) who wants to stab tim most of the time and was also personally trained by talia at one point
the last scene i remember clearly is tim being in the library, trying to search for a way out of nanda prabat with prudence and the maybe-OC (one funny moment was that tim was just looking around and then he turned around to ask the maybe-OC where a certain section was and he saw prudence straddling her on the table, and he just turned around and pretended they didn’t exist LMAO it was so funny)
so do you guys have any idea? cause i literally scoured through my bookmarks and couldn’t find anything, i have a feeling the author might’ve deleted it or something 😭

my current summer tbr! rambling under the cut
Free Fall
"When an influential lawyer is murdered miles above the earth's surface, Captain of Detectives Rick Harrison reluctantly accepts the case. Harrison quickly finds himself at the center of a deepening conspiracy. Why did the killer use a mining laser, an unwieldy weapon? What is the connection between the victim and the powerful anti-android lobby? And the toughest question Harrison never expected to ask: what defines humanity?"
tbh? not hyped for this one. i bought it in a state of rushed delirium and i'm 99% sure i'll get 20 pages in then never touch it again. we'll see though
Sharp Objects
"Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: she must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two pre- teen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful thirteen-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims—a bit too strongly. Dogged by her own demons, she must unravel the psychological puzzle of her own past if she wants to get the story-and survive this homecoming."
i absolutely am extremely hyped for this book!! it looks like it's really similar to big little lies, which i really liked. v v excited
Snow in Summer
"Summer's life in the mountains of West Virginia is far from the fairy tale it once was. Not long ago she sang songs and danced with her mother and father, her cousin Nancy doted on her, and she had a new baby brother on the way. But the baby died soon after birth, taking their mother with him and turning Summer's life grim. Now things are getting even worse as her father falls under the spell of a woman who brings potions and magical mirrors into Summer's world. Stepmama puts on a pretty face, but Summer suspects she's up to no good-and is afraid she may be powerless to stop her."
i mostly got this to fill the neverafter shaped hole in my heart </3. and bcus i know i'm going to get tired of ya/adult books soon lmao
Afrofuturism
"In this hip, accessible primer to the music, literature, and art of Afrofutur sm, author Ytasha Womack introduces readers to the burgeoning community of artists creating Afrofuturist works, the innovators from the past, and the wide range of subjects they explore. From the sci-fi literature of Samuel Delany, Octavia Butler, and N. K. Jemisin to the musical cosmos of Sun Ra, George Clinton, and the Black Eyed Peas' will Lam, to the visual and multimedia artists inspired by African Dogon myths and Egyp tian deities, the book's topics range from the "alien" experience of blacks in America to the "wake up" cry that peppers sci-fi literature, sermons. and activism. With a twofold aim to entertain and enlighten, Afrofuturists strive to break down racial, ethnic, and social limitations to empower and free individuals to be themselves."
i've already read like 50 pages of this and it's so interesting so far!! i keep having to switch between it and midnight sun bcus nonfiction fries my brain @_@ the author is great at keeping ur attention tho!
The Fault In Our Stars
"Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten."
let's go john green!! this is the first book of his i've planned on reading but i've had it reccomended to me a few times. hyped for a romance novel thats actually aimed at my age group lol
Lives of the Saints
ok the blurb for this one literally covers both side sof the sleeve?? and it truly tells you nothing BDJDJ. anyways the writing style reminded me of lemony snicket and it's only 150 pages? it seems fun but we'll see
Ain't Nobody's Business If You Do
"What are consensual crimes? A consensual crime is any activity currently illegal-that does not physically harm the person or property of another. The idea behind this book is simple: As an adult, you should be allowed to do with your person and property whatever you choose, as long as you don't physically harm the person or property of another."
this book is SO large. i mean 817 pages large. it seems like an interesting critique of the justice system, but tbh i just got it to look smart/hold up the clipboard my twilight books r balancing on.
Maus & Maus ||
"Maus is the story of Vladek Spiegelman, a Jewish survivor of Hitler's Europe, and his son, a cartoonist who tries to come to terms with his father, his father's terrifying story, and History itself. Its form, the cartoon (the Nazis are cats, the Jews mice), succeeds perfectly in shocking us out of any lingering sense of familiarity with the events described, approaching, as it does, the unspeakable through the diminutive."
i've been reading a pirated copy of this book and i'm so glad i found the physical copies!! i've already read maus but i read it a while back so i'll probably reread to prepare for the second one. straight up one of my favorite graphic novels so i'm extremely excited.

I remember reading something about how one of the show writers (i believe sara) spoke about Aegon's ra** scene saying that it was one-time thing and aegon definitely regret what he has done. Now if all of that is true , that means the hole plot line of ra** is utterly pointless and just there to make the viewers feel disgusted and repulsed by the character so they would be in rhaenyra's team 100%
Have you? I haven't read anything like that from her. I've only seen this coming from her about Aegon:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She isn't saying he's regretful of what he's done to Dyana, she's saying that we the audience can still feel sympathy for a r4pist. Which is like ... ???????? YOU 🫵 are a writer who made the choice to add in this r4pe scene, but you are not going to explore what happened to Dyana and Aegon, you just added that shit in for giggles. There didn't need to be a r4pe scene. Nothing would have been lost to the story if that Dyana scene was cut. The only thing that would have been lost is the feeling of moral superiority these hack writers gave to Rhaenyra stans. Sara Hess is a writer that made a writing choice she didn't need to make. In this interview she's saying that a r4pist can have a nuanced character, in which she is not wrong, sure, but the thing is is that Aegon's nuance does not come from him being a r4pist, it comes from his strained relationship with his family. So that entire r4pe scene is fucking pointless to his arc and is nothing more than a manipulation tactic from the writers.

Interesting that fandoms can either double or half enjoyment of a show/media.
Like, it's fun seeing people watch Steven Universe after its ended and the fandom's quieted down, seeing them enjoy the lighthearted and whimsical 15 minute episodes, instead of getting bogged down by plot/world-building/characterization holes & flaws.
And on the other end of the spectrum, She-Ra Princesses of Power is a mid/decent cartoon with much less staying power, which wouldn't be memorable aside from having some of the best ideas for fanfic writers to expand on. Take basically any pairing shown on screen, and imagining them hanging out, is fun!
