I'm still thinking about Good Omens, and I want to drop a thought I've had. Spoilers ahead, beware!

So many of the queer-focused shows I've loved have waited til the very last minute to confirm a queer romance. Often, it doesn't seem to be the fault of writers or the creators, but rather the networks not green-lighting a queer romance til the last episode. I'm thinking She-Ra or Legend of Korra. And of course there's situations like Supernatural, which is its own barrel of problems. It's exhausting, and probably why fandoms like these generate so much fan content: because we never get to spend the time with these characters after romantic interest is canonically confirmed.

That is NOT what is happening here. As we've discussed many times, Neil Gaiman has been making queer content since 1990. I'm guessing he's well aware of how these last-minute, left-hanging stories harm the LGBTQ community. I know that ending kiss of Season 2 was both painful and beautiful, and we're all emotionally reeling from it. But, we're (very likely) going to get A WHOLE SEASON of the pining, groveling, communicating, make-up fluff that this fandom has been dying for. Yes, that kiss was brutal. But good lord it's confirmed! And they're going to have to spend a whole season fixing it! A whole season where the audience knows for a fact that the feelings are romantic. A whole season where we all understand just how badly Crowley wants to kiss Aziraphale again. And oh my god it will be so good. We just have to be patient. Neil Gaiman will not treat this fandom the same way other fandoms have treated our community. His track record proves it. As he's said before, we'll just have to wait and see.

I don’t know if I’m the only one, but the primal magic and dark magic in The Dragon Prince reminds me of the sorcerors’ magic in the SheRa reboot.

Both primal mages and Mystacor sorcerors draw/trace runes in the air to cast spells.

And if they use dark magic, they are tainted by it — eg. in The Dragon Prince Sol Regem senses it in Callum in S3 ep1, and Glimmer and Micah’s spells glow pink/purple instead of the usual blue because they (briefly) used dark magic through association with Shadow Weaver.

Based on that one scene from the SheRa series finale:

Eda looked at herself in the mirror. She still had her two mismatched eyes and all her wrinkles but she looked calmer, more relaxed, happier. Her long, gray hair was in a ponytail, like he knew Raine liked it but she also had a flower crown made up of red flowers on her head, which was unusual.

She wore a lovely red and gold suit, paired with a long cape. She allowed herself a moment to admire how hot she looked and raised her arms.... Wait, arms??.... Arms plural??? She had two arms??? No, that can't be right, can it?? How many arms was she supposed to have again???

She shook her head and looked at her surroundings. Apparently she was in a tent, outdoors. She saw the ceiling made of cloth and the curtains leading outside and the grass beneath her boots. That's when two more people walked in.

Her favorite people in the world.

Luz looked beautifully weird, wearing an odd fusion of a suit and a dress colored in different shades of purple. Her hair was slicked back and she, too, had a flower crown that matched her outfit. King, who looked somehow... Taller than the last time she saw him??? Was that right???, Was wearing a cute little bowtie.

"Wow, you look amazing!" Luz said with enthusiasm "Darius really out-did himself this time!"

"I- yeah..." she said, confused "you two look great, too."

"Shut up, baby, I know it!" said King, laughing as Eda scooped him up and tickled his belly.

"Are you nervous?" Luz asked, raising an eyebrow at her.

"Nervous? Me?" Eda tried to sound incredulous and confident but Luz was smart enough to see through her walls "yeah, I'm a little scared."

"Don't worry! You'll do fine!" Luz promised "all your loved ones are here and we're supporting you."

"Also, Hooty said he's gonna eat Raine if they try to walk out on you," King said, still in her arms.

Eda laughed, feeling safer with her kids backing her up.

"Hey, uh," Luz blushed, looking a little nervous herself "is it okay if I try and catch the bouquet for Amity?"

"Uh, sure. Don't you think it's a little too early to be thinking about that? Most people don't marry the person they were dating when they were 15."

15?? That's not right... Luz was only 14... Right??? How old was Luz?? Was she forgetting her kid's age??

"Well, yeah," Luz looked sad when she heard that "but I just can't see myself with anyone else... And aren't you about to marry the person you were dating when you were 15?" she counteracted.

Eda couldn't find a flaw in her logic. Luz had her there. She was about to marry her highschool sweetheart, wasn't she??

She was about to marry Raine Whispers.

Right??

"Huh, I guess I am. You're right, kid."

She gave King one last squeeze before putting him down. Then, King ran to the exit of the tent and called out:

"Come on, mom! It's wedding time!"

He ran out before Eda could process his sentence. Mom?? Did King just call her mom?? Sure, he had changed his name to King Clawthorne but, since when did he call her mom??

And why did she like it so much??

"What did he say?" she had to ask for confirmation. Just to be sure. She could've misheard him.

"He said it's wedding time, mom!" Luz answered before leaving the tent as well.

Luz called her mom. She felt like she was going to cry. But instead she followed her two kids outside where she found.... Them.

The coolest, smartest, most amazing witch she'd ever met. The love of her life, the person she was supposed to be with.

Raine Whispers.

They were wearing a suit just like hers, only theirs was black and white, and they had a flower crown made up of white flowers. Their hair was... Longer?? Was that correct?? That didn't feel right.

But they smiled at her with that same warm smile and held out their hand for her to take. And she was about to take it, when it all went crashing down.

She wasn't in a tent in the forest. She was on a barren wasteland. She wasn't wearing a beautiful suit, she was wearing her old dress, torn and dirty and ruined from all the fighting. Her hair wasn't perfectly made up, it was wild and messy from days without a good brush.

And her right arm was missing.

"A beautiful wish," said a child's voice, coming from above her, taunting her "but there will be no future."

Of course not. Of course not.

She had been stupid to allow herself to believe things could be good. She had been naive to believe life would actually cut her some slack.

But it was too good to be true. It was only a stupid, childish dream.

She wasn't going to get married. Not to Raine, not to anyone. And her kids weren't there with her, they had disappeared months ago and she didn't know where they were, she could only hope against all hope they were alive.

Because life wasn't kind to Eda Clawthorne. There was a time when it was but that time had long since passed. Life was cruel and merciless and unfair to Eda Clawthorne.

She didn't get to be in the coven with her sister, she didn't get to finish school, she didn't get to be with the love of her life, she didn't get to live as an acceptable member of society, she didn't get to protect her kids, she couldn't even have her stupid right arm.

And now the world was ending, everything was falling apart, crumbling to pieces. Torn apart by a child god, who did not care about her or anyone else in the Boiling Isles. They were all insects to him.

She-Ra Season 3 Reaction

Yo. Just. I'm in awe. This show is AMAZING. As great as it is to see Catra go farther down the path of deranged depression, I'm sad to see the Super Pal Trio fall apart. Her obsession with one-upping Adora has led to her alienating herself from her friends, and even sending Entrapta away and lying to Hordak about it. It's awesome to see her be all mean and scary, but I'm also sad for Entrapta and Scorpia. In another world, perhaps things could have been better- and then we see another world where things are better. Holy crap, I love the concept of reality breaking down and just gaslighting you. It's such a fantastic premise for all kinds of scary stuff, and I love it. Of course, Adora had to stop it, or reality would have crumbled, but it was epic while it lasted. And Catra being all half-disintegrated and everything was cool too. And now the Horde as a whole is discovering the empty dimension that Mara sent the entire planet to to escape them! So that's fun! And Adora saw stars for the first time! In an alternate reality where Mara didn't open the portal, or something? That was kinda unclear what the heck was going on there. OH! And Glimmer met ShadowWeaver and I sincerely hope she learns some dark magic! I've been itching for that ever since she did the burst of dark lightning to defeat Scorpia in the Season 1 finale. I swear there better be some payoff to that, now that I know for certain that She-Ra didn't heal her from that curse at all because she didn't even know how to at that point, and because ShadowWeaver taught her dad and like father like daughter, yaknow? And it was super sad that her mom died, but I think it thematically tied up her arc pretty well. At least Glimmer doesn't have to keep sneaking out now. Her mom's main influence on the show was arguing with Glimmer about how she can't be expected to do the thing that she obviously needed to do to save the world. I'm not saying I'm glad she's gone, I'm just saying most of the time she was obstructing the heroes instead of helping them out. Like I said, it tied up her arc really well to have that sacrifice. The only thing that bugged me a bit was that everyone kept saying that the reality shifts weren't real, when Madame Razz literally said that they were, and I believe her. The sword was breaking down reality itself, and if reality itself is changing, then it's real. It's not some illusion. Glimmers mom whose name I can't remember died in the "fake" reality, and she died in the real reality, because that "fake" reality wasn't FAKE. I was really hurting when she left her husband saying it wasn't real, because I knew it freaking WAS. Since the Horde never existed, King Micah never died. Simple as that, just an alteration to the fabric of reality, time, and space. In fact, if they could harness the power of the portal reality breaking mechanics without actually, yaknow, breaking reality, they could have probably brought back King Micah permanently. He was real and he could have helped. In fact, he could have sacrificed himself to grab the sword instead, and his wife wouldn't be trapped in the space between dimensions because he would stop existing anyway. Problem solved! It annoys me when people say that alternate realities aren't real. Just a real pet peeve of mine. If you're experiencing it, it's real. Doesn't matter if it's time travel, multiverse, reality shifting, simulation, hallucination, whatever. The nature of how that reality works may be different, but it's still real and it still has a real effect. I've gone off rambling in some random direction. Getting back on track, She-Ra! Good show. Watch it.

So I’ve finally got some of my thoughts on the new season in order and letting my self sit on it for a while

Dragons rising season 2 spoilers!!!!!

So first off holy shit this season has managed to completely wipe out any fears I had for season two. I’m a generally anxious person and am pretty naturally pessimistic about most things and was pretty anxious about season 2 because from the stuff shown in trailers and promotional vids it looked like a “Lloyd chosen one” plot line and I have a history of hating that kinda thing because it’s been beaten to death in ninjago at this point. While a bit of that was there I found it was done quite tastefully and didn’t overwhelm everything else story wise.

I felt that the pacing of the first 6-7ish episodes was a bit all over the place. Having the training arc and the Cole-Zane plot lines happen in the same episode with the pov switching back in forth felt a little bit off to me.

Sora and arins character arcs are shaping up to be pretty good. Soras more confident in her self than season one and she’s trying to help Arin but I feel like the whole using her elemental power to help Arin will backfire into her face. Arin’s insecurity and the whole how can I be useful if I don’t have an element I fell is being handled way better than the dumb kai arc in season 11(dw I will get to that when I get to kai) and it’s about on par with the Lloyd powerless plot from hunted. I am really excited to see what they do next and if Arin will be really mad at sora or not cuz like he’s super nice and stuff and I fell like he would be sad instead of mad.

Nya didn’t really have a lot going on personally except the stuff with Jay which I’m iffy on because so much of Nyas character in older seasons revolved around Jay and I just hope they don’t go back to that and let her character breath a bit.

In the topic of Jay I really really REALLY hope he isn’t evil. That the idea because it’s really out of character and they are already pushing my buttons with the lost memory crap because that’s something that I’ve rarely seen done well at all and it makes me very nervous and I just don’t like it. I do like that Jay just seems to be a guy who hates his job tho that’s fun.

I think the writers are just having fun with Zane and I think that’s cool. I do wanna punch the administration guy who said Zane isn’t a person because he is and he’s a bean and I will not allow this nobody to slander him.

It was nice to see more of Cole this season. I swear him and geo are so cute. The hand holding and the fact that they basically adopted two kids together is amazing and I am fully on board for this ship.

The villans were really interesting. I hope they keep up the quality with them because the mystery of ras’ master and wtf happened with jordana is really exciting. Cinder was intresting and as someone who has no interest in men what so ever I am kinda baffled at why so many people want this man but hey you do you. I do wonder what happened to ash tho. The member of the forbidden five looks interesting too and part of me is hoping that the leaked “evil jay” minifig is actually this guy just powered up cuz the color palette is similar enough and I just don’t want an evil jay.

Wyldfyre is amazing her whole leg being broken then sneaking on the ship to the exasperation of kai (like he would totally have pulled something like this a few seasons ago the hypocrite <3) and the others was so good. I am curious about her talk with egalt she mentioned one of her family members getting the wasting sickness but it can’t be heat wave cuz he seems fine so maybe she had more than one dragon guardian??? I do hope that Kai’s portal abduction does affected going into part 2 and that she bonds with nya and the others over it.

Egalt and rontu were very interesting to me and I’m glad they didn’t go the route of them being the actual creators of spinjitzu and kept the lore consistent I was slightly worried about that. Hope they come back in part 2 too.

Bonzle was a big surprise for me. I likes her personality in season 1 but I didn’t expect her to be so important. She’s really sweet and the scene with wu was great too.

And finally last but definitely not least, the best character in this entire show and my favorite comfort character to beat the shit out of

IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOD. I LITERALLY HAVE NOT BEEN THIS HAPPY WITH AN EPISODE SINCE SEASON 4 EPISODE 7 THE FORGOTTEN ELEMENT (iykyk) I was literately kicking my feet like a little girl and crying and screaming my head off to the point I woke up other family members. Him unlocking the rising dragon technique by having his sister help and being in harmony with his family is so fucking sweet and I cried like a little bitch it was so good. I am also so happy that they used his old hair and didn’t just slap a smaller version of his current hair onto him (tho I kinda wish they had used the fucked up custom hair that was in the older episodes but I doubt that model is even in their hands so whatever(side side note I love the fucked up hair so much it’s so stupid I love it and will forever miss it)) him being such a dad to wyld fire was so sweet and then using the rising dragon technique after he saw his family in danger was just perfect. I do kinda wish there was more of a dramatic reaction to him getting yeeted by ras into the portal (kinda like any of the other ninja “deaths/major injuries”) but im fine with what we got. Except I kinda hate that only nya has an outward reaction in the aftermath. No lloyd reaction no Cole reaction and nothing from Zane and it makes me mad because every other time a ninja had their moment there was a whole team reaction. But I’m feeling like that’s to nitpicky and there’s still ten more episodes to fix that so fingers crossed. But kai also encouraging bonzle to close the portal even if he’s trapped inside is such a kai thing and hit me like a truck. Also him calling bonzle kid dispite her being much much older than him is funny and sweet cuz Kai’s big brother/father figure side is coming through and it’s so sweet. And the ninja never quit line is so great I was sobbing even more after that. (Tho I don’t know why he said he got it from Lloyd when it would have made more sense to have it be from master wu cuz that’s where he learned it but eh whatever).

While im really happy about kai finally getting some well deserved angst im also very anxious about it too. This could be the perfect opportunity for the writers to just conveniently forget about him for a while and idk if i could sit through that. Kai is a huge part of why I watch ninjago and he’s always been handed the shortest stick character development wise and technically he never got his own focus season either (and no i dont count the pilots because that focused mainly on all the ninja and was only two episodes, i also don’t count season four because it was more a group season, and season 11 doesn’t count because he got a half baked b plot that sucked) I’m very worried that I will loose enjoyment in the show because I dropped the show out of disappointment after season 11 because A LOT of premonitional material made it seem like a kai season and I got my hopes up and was let down so much. I’m very cautious when getting excited about things involving kai in particular because of that and I’m just hoping the writers don’t fuck it up.

Ok that’s enough negativity for once. I’m so excited for more and am foaming at the mouth for more!
