watchin rw vids where they assign the iterators voices hurts my soul quite a bit cuz they basically always sound so so off.. like what do you mean Moon's an american woman who most likely uses Instagram, is full of herself and is working on her influencer career... (that should be Innocence, fight me on this) why the HELL is Pebbles' voice so deep and macho, that is Not the pink baby fail boy whom I love to go moderately mad over, please I'm going to die cuz of macho Pebbles nuuuuurgh

they basically already have canon voices please listen to em, Moon sounds like a glitchy Hatsune Miku. when she speaks there's always a ghost of a smile shaping her words. she sounds curious, wide-eyed- ready to wonder and dive into theories. she's so unbelievably soft and comforting and like she would teach through playing games with her students. she sounds like someone who would clap her hands alongside the beat even if she doesn't care much for music. she'd run into a field and twirl her dress and laugh all the while. she sounds Happy, she's glad to be alive Pebbles sounds like a suppressed nerd duck which speaks through its nose instead of the chest. he sounds like a tired smartass!!! there's this tiny rasp to his voice, but the kind I'd more blame on sadness than anything else. he sounds vulnerable!!! like he could be so easily hurt, like he's just a frail sprout but there's also a curt bite to it. he's like grass- thin, but that just means it can cut. he's frowning while he's speaking, he's exasperated, I can hear it in his voice!!!! get big macho Pebbles away from me he scares me

my gma told me that my mom used to wake up, eat breakfast, then study for 12 hours straight. every fuckin day. and my gpa would bring her food and tell her to take breaks bc of how immersed she was. she’s literally my role model forever

#I want to be on that level of sheer focus/passion w everything I do #this is what I remind myself of whenever I’m lazy or I don’t feel like putting in the hours. like my mon did THAT every day #I rly am intrinsically motivated bc of her and she also showed me that you truly can love science even in a broken education system #ofc being raised in her image did predispose me to science but I’m also so grateful it’s an organic love #and that I’m not doing it for something as dumb as prestige or money. like I genuinely adore it #and I was never raised in a gIrL MaTh household like my mom made it clear math was very fun to me since I was like 2 #and I think that influenced my confidence in pursuing stem/medicine bc I grew up watching my mom solve differential equations for fun #I also love how suffused she was in her studies. that must’ve felt so rewarding. I strive to be that way too #she also taught me it’s possible to be smart AND pretty and that has been the motto my whole life #I luv my mom post no. 8272662 I just had to say it #p

Wei Wuxian’s relationship with Jin Ling is one of my favorite parts of MDZS.

Yeah Jin Ling is reasonably wary, reasonably angry, after all he’s been told time and time again that Wei Wuxian murdered both of his parents in cold blood. But then time passes and the picture that people drew of Wei Wuxian doesn’t quite match up with the real thing.

Here we have a kid who is positively aching for affection, who was raised to be standoffish and even cruel to those around him if it meant getting further ahead, who has no friends but a dog, and yet, we see how much he changes, all for the better, simply by having Wei Wuxian come into his life.

Then Wei Wuxian saves Jin Ling again and again and again. Then Wei Wuxian makes sure to teach him, and listen to him. Then Wei Wuxian speaks to him with unmistakable affection, freely given.

Jin Ling still has his thorns, in the end, but he can’t help but drift to Wei Wuxian’s side, and Wei Wuxian in turn will always keep his arms open, happy to have Jin Ling in his life as more than just a remnant of his beloved shijie’s memory.

One night on a cabin trip with us, and it's very apparent that Poppy is an only dog-child. Honestly pretty interesting to see a 3yo make social blunders that've gotten picked off our other dogs as puppies - things like trying to lick the others' bowls while they're still eating, pushing past the dog being given affection to get attention, jostling and knocking into the others at inopportune times. And then being very very sad and sorry each time she got reprimanded by either of them.

#poppy used to take corrections as a challenge so nice to see her actually try to settle things #obvsly i don't let my dogs ~*work things out*~ on their own but #as long as communication is reasonable and effective and achieves a desirable result with minimal stress on all parties #we're good #and sparta especially is a solid communicator with very clear boundaries and a long escalation ladder #troj is at a point now where she comes off too strong and is too defensive - she used to say way too little and got trampled a few times #i think she'll find a happy medium she just needs a little more confidence and chill #her and pops have been a poor match in the past - but they did well this time!

I think Mutant Mayhem is the first tmnt propriety to make Leo my favorite turtle right off the bat.

Not that I don’t like Leo anywhere else, but usually it takes me like a second rewatch or something to really pick apart Leo’s character in full to appreciate him- and even then he’s usually not my favorite.

But MM Leo is my favorite for reasons I cannot identify.

Maybe it’s the way he walks, his cringe fail personality, I don’t know but I care about this loser so much.

Idk he cares so much abt his siblings despite the fact that they can be so mean to him sometimes. He is also the one who continually pushes to do the right thing when theres nothing (or even sometimes worst things) to gain from it.

Even his attempts at being cool come off as dorkish but it’s charming in a way only little kids can be. In a ‘you’re doing your best sweetie’. Leo is a single mother of three while also being a teenage boy, that takes work.

He’s such a silent but calculating character, ironically when he doesn’t try so hard and does what he feels is right he gets the best results (ie his leader speech, the plan to be accepted, gaining the acceptance of other mutants) for all his fumbling and try hard attitude he has such natural potential it’s insane.

Minho, who is strong and confident, but not emotionally, someone who shies away from more delicate moments, squirms when it gets emotional, will do something nice for someone else but will not make eye contact as he does so

Newt, who is strong and confident, especially emotionally, someone who will grin as they accept help, someone who will willingly die to help someone else, someone who will hug someone in public and not show a hint of shame after, someone who will cry and not care if they're seen

Minho falling head over heels for that sense of safety, for that confidence, for that unabashed vulnerability. Meanwhile Newt is utterly clueless

while Minho is doing things that are the pinnacle of romance to his "affection is awkward" mind, Newt is just like "hey Minho left me a snack! he's been really nice lately :D"

#remember that Kung Fu Panda 2 scene? where Tigress hugs Po and says ''I can't watch my best friend die''#and she's like. the strongest character out there. super aloof and stoic and powerful and brash #she's strong physically. and it's in that scene where you realize she's strong emotionally too #she's vulnerable and open in front of 7 people. and she just casually walks away afterwards. no shame or embarrassment #the whole movie is Po suppressing his trauma and refusing to acknowledge or feel it #and then there is Tigress. someone who he's kinda jealous of (remember their Fists Of Steel moment on the boat?)#someone who is powerful and strong and everything Po wants to be. AND someone who is willing to feel.#to be afraid. to care. to love.#anyway I was thinking about that while I wrote this #I probably don't have to spell it out but Newt is Tigress and Minho is Po #they are both very strong characters but only one of them is strong emotionally #and while I do like Tigress and Po's dynamic #the fact that Minho and Newt are BOTH confident (albeit Minho a little arrogant) makes the dynamic SO MUCH more fun #there is Po who is insecure and afraid and then there is Minho who is confident and afraid #someone who will kill without blinking but will flinch at a hug #just. trying to assign instruments to gerudo characters for thralls' soundtrack. Nabooru is getting the sitar so far, as I think she's good at representing the gerudo side that's closer to the Wild Era in terms of long-term vision for gerudo prosperity, not to mention that it works great for a more laid-back character; though Iftaah could also get that aspect, even though her perspective is a little bit more desperate and a little less actually strategizing about diplomacy and commerce in the way that Nabooru's is... not sure I have nailed down the perfect instrument for her yet though? Maybe a duduk, for its plaintive quality and capacity for softness? But I don't know, I feel like there could be something better out there. Saeruk and flamenco guitar seem pretty great fit for the versatility of the instrument, both harsh and defiant, playful at times, but also extremely sad if needs be, and the fact that she represents more the "older" kind of gerudo works well with more hispanic/romany inspirations. And then there's Aveil, who I feel represent the best the connection of the gerudos to their land, and I'd love an instrument that really represents that. Still looking for that one.

There's a bunch of fun things for Ganondorf that can be done, but I think he'll get... bigger instruments, in general. And church organs are quite versatile too it turns out. :) I like the marimba from his first phase boss battle, but it's a little too... I don't know, I feel like it lacks the roundness and depth and imposing quality that we could get with other picks. But Ganondorf so far has about *eight billion* leitmotifs going on with what I have selected for him (him and Ganon's, as they are... not exactly separate entities in the story, but sort of, it's kind of weird), so it might be more a case of actual melody rather than instruments, or maybe on top of instruments that swap in and out depending on what we want to invoke...

Sorry, rambling, but I would really love to compensate for my lack of voice actors with a pretty meaningful stab at the soundtrack. I feel like I kind of have to honestly. ;;

#thoughts #thralls of power #animatic project #gerudos #nabooru #ganondorf #I need to upgrade my music software and stop using Logic 5.5 that came out in 2002 ;;#and gives me between 30mn to 2h before subjecting me to a coinflip about whether or not it corrups my savefile #never really had the material for a proper upgrade but I really want to make one and that seems the perfect opportunity for that #also yeah nabooru has kind of a big role in thralls!#she wasn't there at all in descant or just in passing #but she becomes kind of an important player in this version of the events #her antagonism with ganondorf is. definitively there let's say.#it's funny I actually kind of used descant as a brainstorming ground for thralls in many ways #as every single character arc is just whatever I began to sketch out in unhallowed vespers #but like More and More Deliberate and more focused too #there's a bunch of threads I completely cut out #so it won't be a perfect 1:1 #which is for the best I think I just hadn't spent enough time with some characters to truly get them #I'm much more confident now #Iftaah is perhaps the one that needs the most work at the moment? she has a Bad Fucking Time so I need to make sure #it goes to places that not only serve other people's arcs but also her own --and that she ends the story in a meaningful place narratively #Serielle also needs work but more in the sense that's there's so much happening in her brain. and it's pretty difficult to convey.#but I fully know what's going on in there at least even if it's wildly convoluted #anyway!! rambling rambling sorry sorry #I am frustrated that I can't actually work on it so here I am rambling #ok back to work now

btw if someone you love wants to talk about how they're interested in any type of transition it's actually very cool and swagful to ask them what parts they're interested in and excited for so they can share the joy of it with you

#when i got back on t i had just been dating my girlfriend for a few months and i was so nervous to talk with her about it #because i was like even very well-meaning allies will start telling you about all their fears about your transition #which isn't helpful and can sometimes feel worryingly like you're doing a bad thing that would jeopardize the relationship if any of those #fears happened #and her first response was to ask about what i wanted from taking t and we just talked about all the possibilities i was excited about #and at the end of it i felt even better and more confident about my decision and our relationship #being unconditionally loved and supported is so crazy like even difficult times of your life can be an opportunity to enjoy being close #not that taking it was a difficult time but just that the uncertainty about what she might say had been a huge source of nerves #and it was nice to feel like our bond was even stronger after we had that talk #personal nonsense #sorry if that was rambling i got a little too high :(
