really love how throughout a lot of smith and jones martha is really skeptical and apprehensive towards ten (+ one of my favorite exchanges between them - "what, people call you 'the doctor'?" "yeah?" "well, i'm not. far as i'm concerned, you've got to earn that title."), not taking everything he says at face value, even doubting the fact he's an alien until over halfway through the episode.. And like. i really truly think the thing that wins her over isn't him kissing her or any of the other insane mixed messages he manages to send, it's this scene here, where he /earns that title/ in her eyes:
Tumblr media
(+ david's bit in the commentary, where he says: "[the doctor] has actually sacrificed himself, and - i would say, that that final act of selflessness is what finally, eventually, welds martha to him. [...] and she now returns it. she returns that act of selflessness.")
this is what their relationship is built on. it isn't about martha being the second-best replacement to rose or a rebound or whatever. bc it isn't really about rose. it's about doctor-in-training martha meeting someone (quite literally, "the doctor") whose ideals she aspires to, and doing her best to be the same person to him as he is to everyone else. it's about ten in return admiring her intelligence and inquisitiveness and how she cares for human life, recovering his compassion, letting himself lean on her for support - and then remembering at the most inopportune moments that he's supposed to not need anyone and be on his own forever. And around in their little nightmare loop they go where they save each other over and over until one of them breaks
i've seen ppl look at martha and go "why she does she admire/why is she so in love with ten if he acts like that to her?" or something along those lines and like. it's not just the fact she's in love with him (in fact i'd argue she actively tries to push it aside post-gridlock). it's the fact that she knows he's the kind of person to put everyone else's lives/well-being over his own. she trusts him to save her when she's in trouble even though it's been like two days at most that they've known one another bc she recognizes that same "deep all-encompassing drive to help others" in him. and she also recognizes, much much earlier than him, that he needs someone to save him, especially when he's unwilling to save himself. and yeah for a bit she thinks he returns her feelings and is just playing hard-to-get, but she realizes pretty early on that this probably isn't the case, and i think that realization fully solidifies here:
Tumblr media
(this is when she's listening to ten talk abt gallifrey). And idk it might just be me but i think this expression isn't just her empathizing with his loss. it's also guilt, for wanting something from him that he's clearly unable to give when he's wracked with so much grief. (and you see it in the next episode, where tallulah asks if they're together and martha says for certain that they're not, and that he doesn't know about her feelings for him. she keeps everything to herself bc she now knows that when he shut her flirting down at the end of 3x01 it was the genuine reaction of someone who a) isn't interested and b) is scared of getting close with someone else again)
freema described their dynamic as "she's keener than him" and i think about this all the time. martha doesn't really take what ten throws at her. what she does instead is constantly poke holes in his already-failing front of "i will show someone the wonders of the universe so i can ignore what is wrong with me". what she does is stand up and fight him when he tries to go off on his own. what she does is put aside her well-being in favor of helping someone - just like what she saw him do for the people in the hospital when they first met. tldr, that's the doctor and his doctor and rip martha you would've loved who's gonna save u now by rina sawayama

Ok so. There's several questions in here, I'll try to address them all @marrecarandgi
Maybe let's do the "Can this man ever move on and find a new relationship after he and Tracy ride into sunset" first (which is also fully my HC, he didn't die, Tracy just had guilt-fueled nightmares that seemed so real she really believes she shot her walker!dad).
Anyway, yes, he was pretty hung up on his wife, it seems.
(Though honestly, parking her in this swamp type thing was weird to me? Like, wouldn't he want her closer by? It's almost like they don't really get Troy's character - like they present us a distorted version of him, we recognize enough of Troy in him to say 'it's him' but then there's just... something that isn't right)
Ok, lets ignore the things that don't quite fit and go with, he was super hung up on her. Though maybe not only her but also the way he lost her and how he put all of that on alicia and madison. so it seems to get closure he needed to get his revenge
(though that's again not super fitting with what they show us in ep11 - the first heart to heart he has with madison where she is about to kill him with her hammer. he says "you want her people to believe the same thing she did - when this is exactly what got her killed" warns her, really. and the way he looks at her, the way his voice sounds... it's almost like he cares. but then, why would he, if he hates her so much. It's almost like he's trying to connect to her, but then, why would he. If he hates her so much. Or maybe he wants her to stop believing in this thing that killed his wife. If so, then why save her in the end when he saw she didn't believe? It just doesn't fit together. Individually those things are fine but taken together it's very headscratchy. Sorry, I said I'll stay away from these things that don't quite fit but guess I can't stop myself ^^0)
Ok so, again ignoring all that and going with the 'he needed revenge/her killing Madison to move on... I think the fact that Madison ended zombie!serena and the fact that he buried her helped him a lot in the 'moving on from her'.
If we take this bullshit on face value with him regretting not letting alicia's idea die with serena, then even getting to *live it* (once he gets Tracy back from madison) may help him, too. A way to honor his wife and think on her but not with so much bitterness and ... well he clung to her in a way, right. Clung to revenge so he could cling to her maybe. Or the other way around. And if that is now broken (again taken the bullshit he said before he died at face value) he'll have a much easier time moving on now.
Now what happens between him and madison and alicia once they meet up - I have no idea. It could be that by this time Madison already started to regret killing him. I mean she's still not happy to see him - given that she expects him to still want to kill her. So their places could be somewhat switched now, mirroring the end of ep11. Her now full of regret and hm compassion even towards him and him... well that's the question isn't it? I think, if we go the route of 'what he said at the end of ep11 is the truth' then he should let her live. He's not gonna tell her this of course from the beginning since he doesn't trust her and still thinks she thinks like at the end of ep11 (no second chances, troy is irredeemable). So it'll be a bit of a dance I guess, with both of them misinterpreting the other's actions. But not for long bc once Tracy sees her dad no one can stop her from going to him. And that's all he wants, his daughter back. And they should leave madison and alicia and go out on their own.
Now if you'd rather not believe he had a change of heart end of ep 11 (which I get haha it kinda came out of nowhere), he's still gonna want revenge. And I think he will, once he finds them. He won't be convulted about it either, I don't think so. Now that he doesn't have his zombie!wife anymore. Now that he even lost his kid, I think he's gonna be methodical. Wouldn't mind him just creeping into their camp and shooting them point blank. Sure, they wont 'rot on their feet' but I think the need for them to be dead may at this point be greater than anything else. Especially since they have tracy. I think them having tracy is a pretty strong motivator for him to end things quickly and get her away from there. Tracy, who probably has her head screwed with a lot (I mean her going to madison after she believes she killed her dad is.. uh a choice and speaks not well of the kid's mental health... so that could lead to some interesting tension between them though I think they'd work through it soon enough. it's her *dad* after all). And yes once he's got her back and the other two lie dead, his wife buried, I think he *can* move on from her.
Probably entering into a new relationship won't be easy though (in either case, both the 'he took revenge' and the 'he just wanted his daughter back'), he feels like he wants to be single for a while now haha, which. Understandable. He was first married to his wife and then to the idea of revenge. And they say getting out of a relationship takes half the time the relationship lasted so uhm. Make of that what you will ;)
Maybe if he meets up with someone he knows it's easier for him to form a relationship than if it's someone completely new... just an idea though (maybe bc then it doesn't remind him so much of serena...?).
Also in my somewhat improbable HC (of course I have several contradicting HCs - as one does...) which I haven't quite let go off even though it turned out not to have any canon support (though also not really something that contradicts it so uhh (except for the part where I thought serena seems like a cutie and I don't want her to be a bad guy), I imagine serena as abusive towards troy.
Again no textual support of this - that whole idea was born out of the fear that they'd made troy be actually the one responsible for his wife's death (thank GOD that fear was unfounded haha). But yeah I was really anxious about this once it was revealed that alicia's idea killed tracy's mom but we had no further inforomation on it. So this fear, and the fact that he went 'it's not pretty to look at, I know' about his eye had me thinking that it could be possible. That sentence 'it's not pretty to look at, I know' gave me pause since... it doesn't sound like Troy to be concerned with how he looks. That was never him (yes even though he's well dressed now :P). So I thought, that almost sounds like he's quoting someone, omg what if he's quoting his wife?! What if his wife was at least verbally abusive towards him..(if not more)?? (Then the tracy thing kindaaaa makes sense too haha, he's subconsciously thinking back to that, is reminded of how his mom treated him and it's def a cry for help, calling his kid tracy... not that anyone heard him. as usual). Anyway if we go that route then a new relationship would be undoubtedly good for him (unless this one, too, is abusive haha...). Not sure if this makes him more or less likely to seek one out though. I think an argument could be made either way. Maybe more, just because he's still searching for what he'd searched for all his life: someone to love and appreciate him. Even while he's convinced it never could be different, didn't serena show him that, he's still searching...
-----
Now the dad thing... I think I said it somewhere before, to me it didn't feel out of character at all(if this is even what you're getting at? If not, feel free to correct me :) ). In fact I was superglad to hear him say he didn't give a fuck about Jeremiah. I maintain he had a complicated relationship with his dad (just like he had with his mom). He loved his parents probably the same way a kicked dog loves his master. Beyond reason and self-preservation. But he hates his parents, too. And I think he's ashamed of that, of feeling *wrong things*. I think he also thinks the fault that they don't love him lies with himself. That he is wrong, that he can't do what they want (a quiet child, best seen not heard etc). So he puts all that on himself, the hate he has for them and the fact that they don't love him. Both bc there's just something not right with him. So he buries it, buries it deep down.
Of course he was sad when his dad died, of course he grieved him. He probably also grieved that now he never could get from him what he wanted: being told he did good. Being told his dad is proud of him. All these things. I also think he was... relieved. And that horrified him. Showed him again, in his mind, that see, he is wrong. Who is relieved their dad is dead. And then he's also angry of course, angry at his dad for killing himself. Doing something that seems so out of character for him. Leaving Troy and Jake to pick up the pieces (probably like always... I imagine when he was drunk and destroyed things or made a mess, it was on the kids to clean up. Same with his mom btw). Anyway. very very complicated feelings, contradicting feelings even. No wonder he lost his mind in exile. And I think the fact that he destroyed this place, even though it pained him in the end, it also freed him. It was the beginning of letting go. Of his mom, his dad. Even Jake. A cleansing as he said, but for himself. And I think over the years those feelings became clearer to himself, he started to understand himself better, started to understand where his uncontrollable anger came from and could accept this. So yeah "fuck that old man" (paraphrased haha) isn't a weird thing for s8 troy to say at all. He's right. Fuck him.
---
"I'd do it all again" Right, that one. Haha, those fateful words. I hope you forgive me for just quoting my own work, since I very much explored this:
Troy felt relieved when he heard Madison asked, “Why would Daniel want to kill Troy?” This was it, he was sure of it. This was the missing piece to get back into step with Madison. Because even though she’d just told him “we’re good” he knew they weren’t. He had sensed her trepidation in her ingenious smile, in the hesitation in her voice. And now he was sure it was because he was still keeping a secret from her. A secret that only became one because of Nick, because he had followed Nick’s lead on this. And he hadn’t minded, understood that Nick rather not tell his sister Jake died partly because of him… But now he couldn’t keep quiet anymore. Not if it talking could mean that it would bring Madison and him close together again. Not if it meant it could again be as it was, before, between Madison and him. And yes, their conversation got heated once he admitted what he’d done. He should’ve expected that but he was too caught up in it. In trying to explain himself, in trying to rush to go where they’d been before. He should’ve given her more time to process… he knew she would’ve, eventually. She understood him. They were the same – and that was what he was trying to tell her, remind her of, however clumsily. “I’d do it all again,” he implored her, trying to make her see, “All of it, Madison.”
(Bolded part is the most important one). Right so I think he's wanting for Madison to see his side, for her to well maybe not forgive him but definitely accept what he'd done, accept him) and her continued refusal got him agitated, angry, and so he blurted that out - unfortunately not at all doing what he set out to do but the complete opposite. That is why he says 'hed do it all again'. He wants acceptance for who he is, he's not gonna APOLOGIZE for it and he resents her for insinuating differently. All his life he's made to feel he was wrong and in madison he thought he'd finally found someone who got him. Understood him like no other. And now she stands before him having the gall to judge him too. It's too much and so he spits this into her face, forces her to confront all the bad things in himself. Sadly for him she answers not by acceptance as he thought, especially when he said "and you would too you know you would", this callback to how similar they are, but by killing him. And I think him calling out their similarities played def a role in her decision to strike him down.
(As an aside, I don't see Troy as someone who apologizes or appreciates an apology or even... gets what it is about. Esp. s3 Troy. He's thinking is along the lines: "If I did it, I did it, so there's no use in wishing things went differently, no use in lamenting. It happened and with the information I had at that time I couldn't have made another choice. I would do things again like this. So what use is an apology? Isn't it even cheapening things? Because then I could've just NOT DONE IN in the first place. But clearly I did" It's a bit of a circular reasoning. He's a bit naive in that haha.
---
I'm not sure he raised Tracy to see zombie!serena as her mom. Yes, Tracy does call her "mom" but I didn't get the feeling that she things it really is *her*. Like I think she's very much aware and never had confusion over the fact that her mom is dead and this is her reanimated corpse. Is that much better? Not sure haha.

Did someone say High School AUs? @whitherliliesbloom‘s AUs are always so cute and I saw the High School AU idea and tbh I’m work for that slice of life stuff so WE OUT HERE. I have no idea where I’m gonna go with this but I thought it might be fun to at least brainstorm!! ;; everyone's concepts are so cute, I couldn’t resist ;; i might do something for Kinara but I need to attend to my two babs first
HCs below the cut to save your dash
Yura:
Much like in canon, in high school Yura seems a brash and detached problem student who is well meaning but aggressive.
Despite her small stature, Yura is known for her physical ability and striking glare which never seems to leave her face
Because of her mannerisms and appearance, she often struggles to make friends, though plays it off by saying she isn’t interested in socializing (through its evident she’s very lonely )
Despite her issues, Yura is a very smart young woman who simply refuses to apply herself.
She was actually a very dedicated student only s couple years beforehand, being considerate, approachable and hardworking before her fall from grace due to circumstances she doesn’t talk about
She retains her compassion and dedication even if she tries to hide it, and is actually very approachable when it comes down to it. The few people who get close to her can see this kindness and compassion easily.
She struggles to interact with others but is very defensive of those who come to her seeking whatever aid she can offer. She’s actually very amiable when approached.
She isn’t part of any clubs due to her a reputation and attitude, but shows an affinity to several sports, music and even gardening to the surprise of many
She actually makes okay grades but her developing reputation as a problem child leave many assuming the opposite, her teachers often harassing her to do better (especially her brother)
She’s not a delinquent per day but she isn’t exactly a model student either
She wants to be better at communicating with others but she struggles. Wants friends but can’t figure out how to talk to people anymore
Her adoptive brother keeps her grounded at home and at school
Tumblr media
J’thel:
A History teacher at High School and Yura’s adoptive brother
Once a problem student himself, he took great care to clean up his act and is now respected for his kindly dementors, brotherly instinct and dedication to his students and work
He does everything in his power to keep his students not only educated, but comfortable and happy
He takes care of Yura since her father travels often
He doesn’t believe anyone is beyond help
Active in several extracurricular programs.
Probably a club advisor
He tends to get on Yura’s case about her attitude because he knows she can do better
And is always in school staffs case to give her a chance, aware people are ready to give up on her
Tbh Yura’s only real friend at the start of her school year. She often helps him after class
Gets made fun of a lot for wearing gloves and looking extra, but his hands get cold easily is his excuse. Yura thinks its because of his nostalgia.
Everyone’s best friend and everyone’s worst nightmare at the same time
He wants everyone to be their best self and believes no one is beyond help
Idiot who wears fake glasses to make himself seem less intimidating

My Problems with Supernova
Supernova could have been a spectacular book but it really fell short in the end. This isn't to say that it's a bad book but it lacked the ending that would have matched the build up in the other books.
Nova's feelings and beliefs were completely ignored
Nova is understandably upset with the Renegades
Especially after when she realized how bad her situation with the Anarchists was
Nova grew up isolated with supervillains raising her with heavy, pre-existing trauma
She was a literal child when they got ahold of her and even then she was still a child when she was Nightmare
And no one thought that was suspicious in any way or that she was possibly forced into her situation or a product of her situation
And it was the Renegades fault she was in that position in the first place
They never looked for her and their rules for the Anarchists kept her there
Granted they didn't know about her but they had no right to treat the Anarchists the way they did which was without access to bare necessities and essentials and then taking those away when they gathered too much
And of course Genissa and her team would completely ransack and destroy everything when they came and there were probably other teams that did the same
Maybe Lady Indomitable was on the way to help and her dying isn't their fault but both sides are at large to blame when it comes to the abuse Nova has suffered
The Renegades created a situation where it was enabled and she had no means of escape and the Anarchists jumped at the chance they were given
They also threw her in jail with limited evidence and no trial as a child and just said sorry when she was released and called it a day
They were right that she was Nightmare but ignored the fact that her actions are a result of her situation and that she was more then likely forced into being a villain as a whole child
She is very much a victim in the whole situation
The feelings Nova has about both sides are completely valid and logical
But they were ignored instead for the sake of her and Adrian being a couple and resolving everything
Adrian and Nova being together in the end is unrealistic
I love Nodrian as a ship
It's a great dynamic and they make a cute couple
But Adrian's wrongs against Nova were never addressed or talked about
Nova is obviously a product of her toxic household and takes responsibility for the damage she caused. She doesn't deny that she's done nothing wrong or that she should be held accountable
And that was glossed over when it should have been talked about a bit more
Where as Adrian just arrested her and took her bracelet without a second thought
When he saw how Genissa treated the Anarchists and even said in his own POV that it was messed up and inhumane
I understand that he thought Nightmare impaled Max but he has also seen Nova risk her life and powers to help Max
And it didn't make him question anything at all
It wasn't until the end when Nova was badly injured trying to help him and having Honey turn on her that he began to think that she could possibly have been forced into her situation at all or was abused
Even tho it would be obvious to anyone seeing a whole ass child become part of a team of villains that was condemned into tunnels when that child was too young to know what was going on
Adrian also has considerable problems over his mother's death and pinned them on Nova even tho she was too young to do anything or know anything about it
Nova understood that her trauma caused damage to him and acknowledges it and tries to make up for it
Adrian did the same but it was entirely ignored
It just doesn't make sense for them to have ended up together. At least without the acknowledgment of a break between them or some sort of discussion before the events at the cathedral where they discuss what Nova has gone through and how Adrian attributed to that
The Renegades were never held accountable and we're a fucked up organization
Their sense of justice sucked ass
It made no sense
Some got jail for life
Some lost their powers
And some were stuck in tunnels
They through a child in jail without a trial
There were no elected leaders
They let children be superheros and put themselves in deadly situation
THEY WANTED TO EXECUTE A CHILD WITH NO TRIAL OR EVIDENCE AND WERE GOING TO LET A VERY YOUNG ADULT DO IT TO MAKE UP FOR HER LOSING HER POWERS WHAT THE FUCK EVEN WAS THAT
The trials where people got brought into the Renegades was weird and made it seem like prodigies had to be heroes or they were worthless somehow which overall just took away the rights of prodigies just in a different way
They made Ace and the Anarchists villains even though they were makinging some major points
The treatment if the Anarchists as a whole
Ace over threw the government to give freedom to prodigies and rightfully so
At the very core they just wanted to guarantee that prodigies could live normally with choices with what they could do with their powers
They let Narcissa and the Rejects go and leave peacefully without problems bc they weren't going to make anyone do anything
The Renegades were a threat to that as while they wanted to make a new government they made one where prodigies could be superheros and if that was wanted good for them but then they seemingly just went after the Anarchists bc the world went to shit once government was gone
It wasn't there fault no one had compassion or empathy
They laid the ground work for prodigies to be heroes and have freedom and that was largely ignored and thrown aside
They certainly weren't good but in the end they were boiled down to villains when they could have been more then that and were more then that leading up to Supernova
Supernova generally fell short
The whole point of the first two books was watching Nova and Adrian have secret identities and realize that neither side was right
Nova was certainly questioning everything she knew
And Adrian literally became the Sentinel because of the flaws in the Renegades
And then in the end the Renegades were just forgiven and were the heroes and everything was fine
Even though all the problems described before that were ignored and never solved
Nothing was black and white or set in stone and both sides had their own complex system with benefits and downsides
But in the end it was boiled down to heroes verses the villains for the sake of Nova and Adrian being a couple when realistically that wouldn't work out
In summary Nova was very clearly a subject that was abused by both sides and had great development along with Adrian who wasn't subjected to that abuse but was able to see the issues. In the end those views and feelings were ignored for the sake of a romance that wouldn't work out realistically and no one was held accountable but Nova, the victim of serious abuse on both sides, while everything was boiled down to being black and white even though the first two books were trying to show why that was wrong.

((In the case Dedrick were to leave him, Walter would be heartbroken. He expected to have Ricky's undying loyalty because he's the only one he let in...he didn't think he could lose Dedrick unless he was downright malicious to him (which he'd never do).
He goes off to find a new life...and runs into Vivian, who got so tired of being locked in a mediocre marriage and having a poor relationship with her daughters (both of which she doesn't have the emotional maturity to try to salvage) that she ran away from her problems and left Thaddeus to raise their daughters alone...
However, Thaddeus was so humiliated that...well, their daughters were basically orphans. Symphony was lucky enough to be taken in by her suitor's family because they saw her as their property, but Harmony and Melody were SOL.
Neither Ebony or Kathleen wanted anything to do with them...so they're Patrick's problem now. He's still emotionally scarred from his previous children turning out to be monsters and he's worried about the girls turning into Vivian. Harmony never really agreed with her family (and is lowkey relieved her parents are gone bc she gets to live with Cool Gay Grandpa and his partner) and Melody gets a real dose of humility. She was always acting out as a means of building herself up—she didn't want to be overshadowed by her sisters, so she became everyone's worst nightmare (especially Bre). Being tossed aside by her mother and losing her father deeply affects her. She's ostracized by her peers and is basically on the bottom of the totem pole with her former primary target. Despite everything that happened with Walter and all of the torment Melody put her through, Breanna shows compassion to her. It'll take a long while before Melody earns her trust, but they're on good terms now and Melody isn't too far gone to become a better person. Bre feels better about going to magic school knowing she has two more people looking out for her.
Going back to Walter and Vivian...they jump into a relationship to fill the void in their lives. Walt has been told so many times to start a family with Vivian if he wants to continue the bloodline...that's what he does after losing literally everyone else he had. Their relationship starts out being purely superficial, but Walt and Vivi are at least close acquaintances and are motivated to raise their children together.))

frank is the kind of boy who will charge straight into the carnage and chaos of the whomping willow to save a cat. he’s the kind of boy who hangs out by the edge of the black lake, worried that the giant squid is feeling lonely. he’s the kind of boy who sees the potential for good in everyone & everything, and is genuinely confused and appalled by acts of unkindness and malice when they occur. he chooses the path of benevolence, always, and he wants to keep everyone he loves safe so he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders and feels like it is up to him, & him alone, to SAVE THE WORLD and make it a better place. i repeat for you my fronds : frank longbottom gosh darn heckin’ angel. but my god, is he a broken one.
⤻   *       BACKGROUND   ——   !!
frank was born into a sacred 28 pureblood family who cared very little for blood purity, but a whole lot for social justice & fighting for what is right. thomas and augusta longbottom first met at the ministry of magic, where their ‘ left-wing ’ progressive ideas about wizard / muggle / magical creature relations brought them together. their love brought frank longbottom into the world ; a child who was, from an early age, exposed to concepts of in/equality, systematic oppression, privilege, biased public policy, and injustice through his parents.
under the steady & tireless virtuous guidance of his mother and father, frank longbottom bloomed from infancy into childhood with a strong sense of egalitarianism & selflessness that most children only learned well into adolescence, and he had an awareness of the injustices of the world that many people did not gain even well into adulthood. yet despite his parent’s rather strict & heavy hand in discipline, there was always a remarkable air of benevolence and incorruptibility about frank that refused to be befouled.
nevertheless, frank was a terribly lonely child. he was homeschooled by a thoroughly screened, left-wing half-blood governess, and she was just about his only connection to the outside world. it goes without saying that sacred 28 pureblood socialising events & parties were off-limits and out of the question for frank, and since the longbottoms lived in suburban muggle england, frank was always too scared to socialise with many of the children in his neighbourhood, fearful that he would accidentally expose his magical lineage & incur terrible consequences for his folly. shut away in a house of absolute virtue and morality, frank longbottom was a victim of utter loneliness & never got to experience the world his parents adamantly taught and trained him to save … until his letter from hogwarts arrived, that is.
⤻   *       HOGWARTS   ——   !!
frank was a heckin’ confusing four-way house hat stall during his sorting. the hat sensed the resolute loyalty and benevolence of hufflepuff in him, the love and respect for knowledge and learning of ravenclaw in him & the tenacity and ambition to achieve his goals of slytherin in him, but ultimately, the sorting hat settled on “ GRYFFINDOR ! ”, declaring its choice with a booming roar. above all, the sorting hat sensed frank to be brave —— willing ( & desperate, even ) to fight for what is right. it’s a shame that frank, to this day, doesn’t seem to see this bravery in himself. but by the warm beacon of the gryffindor common room fireplace, under the twinkling candlelights of the great hall, and at the top of the astronomy tower ( the stars and galaxies at the reach of his very own fingertips ), frank, at hogwarts has grown to be exactly the kind of person his parents have always wanted him to be : stalwartly true ; combatting hate with kindness, and enveloping cruelty with warmth. he loves deeply and vastly, and he honestly radiates this other-worldy quality of brightness ??? he’s the light in the dark, and oh how he shines.
however —— the fact that he’s already grown into someone that his parents are proud of doesn’t stop frank from still wanting to be better, and wanting to save the world. what frank doesn’t realise is that he can hardly save the world if he can’t first save himself. he’s constantly emotionally and physically exhausted ; spending every moment of his time helping those around him and making sure to change to the world one kind act at a time. slowly but surely, frank’s bleeding heart and compulsion for kindness is coming to the point of being harmful to his own health and wellbeing.
so yeah … … . though frank is falling apart, he never lets this show & he really tries to never make this anyone else’s problem. through the haze of responsibility and moral duty that has always clouded frank’s life, there’s still a profound tenderness and warmth about him ; and among all his advocations and efforts towards justice & peacetime, it’s difficult to discern just how deeply scared, lost, and confused the boy is in a world that refuses to cease changing right before his very eyes ; an inevitable war upon the horizon.
⤻   *       LITTLE HEADCANONS   ——   !!
frank has always been V MAGICALLY GIFTED. he showed his first signs of magic when he was just one and a half, when he had a terrible nightmare & woke up screaming in the middle of the night. instead of waiting for his parents to come and calm him down though, frank simply closed his eyes & focused on his breathing. when his parents stumbled into the room ; sleep hazy in their eyes, they could hardly believe what they saw : the entire room, covered in flowers and lush foliage —— something that frank had somehow conjured up to keep himself calm ( b/c untamed childhood magic be CRAZY ). frank is now able to command wandless magic, which is a GODSEND tbh b/c he’s such a sleep-deprived mess & he loses his wand c o n s t a n t l y istG
being a sacred 28 pureblood with quite advanced magical abilities, frank has always been in high demand for pureblood partnership through an arranged marriage. his parents, have always hastily shot down offers ( bc they aren’t all up in that pureblooded nonsense ! ), but that hasn’t stopped pureblooded parents from reaching out anyway :/ yIKEs :///
frank is part of the slug club ,,,,,,,,,,,,, and like ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, every single other club / extracurricular. baby longbottom is an OVERACHIEVER EXTRAORDINAIRE —— YA BOI DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO CHILL. it’s not that frank is driven by any sort of particular ambition and self-interest, though ?? rather, frank’s heavy involvement in every aspect of school life stems from the aforementioned incredible pressure of his parent’s expectations ; frank applying himself to every possible aspect of school life and extracurriculars in the hopes that he will make them proud
frank has so little chill that he’s actually started sleepwalking … yikes ????? it probably doesn’t help that frank is involved in almost every sport club tbH, & he is also gryffindor quidditch team’s seeker. the thing is that he could never give any sport up. sport is so cathartic for frankie my boi, because it helps him forget his worries & his responsibilities. while he’s playing sport he is just a body —— he is pulsing blood, deep breaths & he is free.
⤻   *       OTHER FUN FACTS / GENERAL SUMMARY DOT POINTS ABOUT FRANKLEFACE LONGBOOTY   ——   !!
THE MOST CLEAN CUT KID OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO : frank longbottom, OFC. innuendo is lost on the kid ( he is v v v lost every time someone uses the word ‘ wand ’ as double entendre ), and has only consumed alcohol once in his life —— and even then, it was by accident ( it was in a spiked cherry berry trifle at an end of year christmas party back in first year ).
LATELY, THOUGH, frank has taken up smoking. he does it in secret ; one cigarette every night in the astronomy tower, or by the black lake. if anyone ever found out about this frank would be MORTIFIED & would legitimately probably DIE of shame, so ………….. *coughs* someone pls walk in on him smoking one day.
it’s so strange, because frank is incredibly in touch with the real travesties and injustices of the world, but in many ways he’s completely naive and lacking in real life experience. he is such an experientially sheltered kiddo, someone pls take him out and get him RAGING DRUNK bc he needs to chill out tbH
#mumfriend
takes literally 15 minutes out of each of his days to have a few conversations with a few of hogwarts’ cats ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, what a loser ??
gets excited when people ask him for help with their homework ( hELP ME ???? )
excels at all his subjects, but has a particular soft-spot for astronomy, herbology and care of magical creatures :’)
LOVES KNITTING —— stress knits a lot . he’d like to just knit the entire world up into a snug lil blanket and keep it safe and warm
wants to single handedly save the world
did i mention ????? babe is a gosh dark heckin’ angel
in the mirror of erised, frank would see all his friends and family happy and smiling —— but he wouldn’t even be in the frame. mY HEART BREAKS OVER THIS HEADCANON TBH
frank has a cat named alexis de tocqueville
i’ve run out of things to dot point & this is probably WAY TOO LONG ALREADY ANYWAY ??? so i’ll stop :o :o :o but please come and interact with my son ?!!!!!!??!? i love yall peace out

I can't believe I'm asking this or just I've had the thoughts to ask this before. This will he before I ask you about Freddy Vs Jason. But the Scream franchise? Your thoughts but just your icon being Stu and your header image, and saw a icon of Billy from someone you reblogged. As a guy who isn't a fan of the franchise and I've had thought at times to watch the first fully or something. I know lots of stuff due to searching up stuff and pop culture. I just want to hear your opinions.
OK so I LOVE the first Scream, it’s so so SO good!! but I’ve heard from a very trusted friend that the second one is Not Worth Watching, so I have absolutely no interest in anything beyond the very first movie lol (I have so many hangups about the MTV mask aesthetically that I couldn’t bring myself to watch the show either tbh) -- the first Scream is another of the first horror movies I saw so it also has a special place in my heart bc of that as well
anyways I kind of have a hard time picking this part because its just.. really fun? like it’s not shoving any message in your face, it’s just a real return to form for Wes Craven- like I live + breathe the original Nightmare on Elm Street, and Scream is just as high up there as NoES. I’ll admit I haven’t seen a TON of his movies, but The Serpent and the Rainbow came between NoES and Scream (amidst TV movies and some other films that look... just oof) and I could barely get through it- I remember the movie being super boring? I honestly had no idea it was Wes Craven at the time because it was totally the opposite of what I expected from him, so that’s why I say ‘return to form.’
I think the movie’s strongest points are its characters- they’re all really easy to love (even after an initial viewing, when you know the twist reveal of the killer). Billy’s got this very caring side towards Sidney, and even tho he has real frustrations wrt her trauma he’s willing to work things out with her + apologize- he’s also got a good camaraderie with Stu and just has a very grounded, even presence that balances Stu out excellently. Stu on the other hand is like, obviously the goofball + kind of a dickhead (the whole “Liver alone!” joke being a prime example) but he’s genuinely well-meaning and arguably over-affectionate? he picks Tatum up, hugs her, leans on her, like he’s very physical with her. He also leans on Randy when he and Billy corner him in the video rental shop so Stu’s probably just touchy-feely in general lol, but it’s a little trait that lends him a realness, you feel?
Tatum could’ve very easily fallen into the “bitchy best friend” stereotype but she’s honestly just protective? like yeah she’s sarcastic and whacks Stu in the head with a sucker but that’s like.. Stu deserved it because he IS a shithead, and while she can be snappy with Gale she does it to defend Sidney. She also puts up a really good fight against Ghostface, and has a neat discussion about female killers (Basic Instinct is her example) with the rest of the gang in the beginning. Sidney on the other hand has her own tough side which develops throughout the film as she’s faced with the killer, but like is realistically traumatized and is only ever presented as reasonable- they totally could’ve demonized her as a bad girlfriend because she won’t have sex with Billy but as we find out about her mother it’s like “oh yeah,” and you have a lot of compassion for her because of how she’s painted throughout the rest of the film
Randy is sort of the outlier here because he’s such an obvious red herring? like he’s the geeky horror-obsessed character that would’ve been the villain in like any other iteration of this movie, but instead he just kind of.... sidekicks his way out of death lmao. He’s the one who presents the rules of horror movies to us (don’t drink/do drugs, don’t have sex, and never say “I’ll be right back”), and when we find out he’s not dead, his line? “I never thought I’d be so happy to be a virgin.” Like, I really couldn’t imagine Scream without Randy-- sure, he’s just kind of... there; he doesn’t add a ton to the story, he’s not super integral to the plot, but he serves as a sort of audience surrogate and I feel like the movie would be missing something without him. He’s also a nice twist on the usual “watching violent media makes you violent!!!” thing
So, like, when we find out who the killer is (avoiding description in case others haven’t seen it/don’t know the reveal lol), the killer gives us that often-used line “movies don’t create psychos, movies make psychos more creative!” I think the quote’s a liiiiiiiitle oversaturated as like this edgy thing when it nicely encapsulates the film’s message? It’s not this big poetic thing, it’s just arguing that the “the reason X killed Y is because of [insert type of violent media]” mentality is complete bullshit. We establish that the killer had already decided to commit all these murders, each act was completely premeditated, the killer just turned to horror movies to see HOW to commit the crimes- it wasn’t a case of “he watched one horror movie and it turned poor little Jimmy into a violent serial killer completely out of the blue!” Then, on the other hand, the character who watches horror movies regularly for fun is the character who gives us the exposition we need and provides key advice to Sidney to help her survive (”this is the moment when the supposedly-dead killer comes back to life for a final scare”). It’s a really refreshing message to get as a horror fan
like overall though Scream’s just super fun? it gives us the tension we want, it gives us violent attacks and guts and gore (Casey’s death in the very beginning is sooooo good), but it never gets overbearing. Like yeah, sometimes I do want a splatterfest, and Scream is a very 90s movie (it shows, but it works for the film- imagining Scream in a post-90s setting makes me go.... eurgh.......), but it’s also one of the most wholeheartedly enjoyable horror movies I’ve ever watched. There’s no schlock, no parts that make me yawn- it just checks off a lot of boxes for me when it comes to fun horror movies and remains very rewatchable even if you know who the killer is

Voltron seasons 3 and 4 review
I rewatched the two seasons in one go so as to see how much I’d like it as one single season as it was originally meant to be and I did actually prefer it that way. So I’ll talk about the good aka what I liked and enjoyed, then about what I was kinda “meh” towards, before talking about what I disliked.
The good:
Allura. I love seeing Allura in the thick of things, hence my love of episodes like “Collection and Extraction”, and the confrontation with Haggar and the druids in “Blackout”. I was rather disappointed in s2 by how much of Allura’s screentime was to do with opening wormholes or sitting around waiting (although I did prefer that to her supposedly being ~racist~ -.-) so to see her always involved in the action this season was very satisfying for me.
Her pink paladin armour is glorious and watching her wield her whip bayard is magnificent. So many Wonder Woman comparisons made valid and I love it.
By “Code of Honor” she’s back in a co-leadership position with Shiro, where Shiro seems more of the battle strategy leader and Allura more of the coalition diplomacy leader.
HER MAGIC LITERALLY LIFTING VOLTRON UP!!!! They were actually going to be crushed by gravitational pressure but Allura saved them all on her own and that’s amazing. She’s explicitly untrained and yet she has so much raw power. I truly believe she’s some sort of Chosen One or something.
Lance’s insecurities not just brushed under the carpet after Shiro’s sharpshooter comment in season 2. It definitely seems like he’s going to have the longest running arc. We saw him attempt to use the black lion to ~cure~ his insecurities with the whole “this is your moment” thing.
We also learn that he worries that not only is he the least useful member of the team, he doesn’t even deserve to be on the team at all. As the viewer we know this isn’t true and this is especially highlighted this season, with Lance fighting at the forefront a lot more.
Evolution of Lance and Keith’s dynamic. I think it’s super interesting how Lance stepped up when Shiro was gone, consoling Keith and supporting him when Keith felt most alone, but seemingly steps away from that role when Shiro returned.
Lance was never afraid to call Keith out and somehow is able to get through to him and that made him the perfect balance to Keith.
The relationship didn’t just skip to BFFs though, because even though Lance is good at supporting Keith, Keith sucks at it and as such there’s still problems to address for them to grow.
Evolution of Lance and Allura’s relationship. Lance didn’t flirt ONCE with her!!!! In 13 episodes!!!!! Their relationship is so much more profound now. I made a post about this, but I love the contrast between “Red Paladin” where Allura motivates and encourages Lance to believe in himself and says why the red lion has chosen him, and then in “A New Defender” Lance motivates and encourages Allura to believe in herself and her abilities and says the blue lion chose her for a reason. I love mutually supportive friendships. Also, Lance checks in to see how Allura is doing in Blue. He also genuinely compliments her for taking out a bunch of sentries.
Shiro back in the black lion. I still have my doubts as to whether this is the same Shiro from seasons 1 and 2, but either way I’m glad to see his face in the lion. The more paladin armor in the matching lion the better imo.
More emphasis on how badass Hunk is. His piloting skills have come so far since season 1. He also elbow dropped someone in the face like daaaaammmmmnnnnnn son.
More emphasis on how loyal Hunk is. He wanted to form the head with the yellow lion 😭😭😭. He loves his lion and I love him. He also is very loyal to his friends. He split off and went back for Allura when she fell behind.
More emphasis on how smart Hunk is. In season 2 there was a tendency to downplay his intelligence (and everyone else’s) to make Pidge seem smarter. This season, however, Hunk was very much involved in the nerd talk, with him and Pidge (and Matt when he joined) bouncing ideas off each other.
Speaking of, Matt. I really didn’t want that storyline dragging out any longer so I’m glad Pidge found him finally. They have a lovely dynamic and he’s so sweet and supportive of her. I know some people are saying his personality is basically the same as Lance but I don’t see that. Sure, he flirts with Allura but if you think flirting is Lance’s most defining trait then uhhhhh. Well. Also Lance doesn’t really do puns. Also also Lance isn’t a nerd.
I saw spoilers so I knew Matt wasn’t dead but they still had me thinking Matt was really dead???? Had me tryna rationalise future Matt scenes like maybe that Matt is from an alternate reality. Really well done episode. I didn’t cry but I only cry for Allura so eh.
GROUP HUG!!!!!!!!!! It was so pure and cute and Keith looked so happy. I wonder if he’s been in a group hug before. Pidge crying that they’d miss Keith when she was the first one who ever tried to leave the team shows how close they’ve grown since season 1.
I know this a kids show and they aren’t going to kill any of the main cast but damn if Keith didn’t get me. I was in SHOCK, wondering if maybe Steven Yeun didn’t want to be part of the show anymore lmao. Props to them for actually making that really convincing.
The generals turning on Lotor “for Narti”. We see that they really are friends with each other. Ezor looked very upset after Narti’s death. Zethrid looked upset too. These girls care for each other.
The “meh”:
“The Legend Begins”. I’m really glad it happened because it was about time we got some backstory. I did enjoy certain aspects of it (Alfor’s “oh dear” and Zarkon’s “i must go” are big winners to me) and I especially enjoyed red paladin Alfor confirmation (because I’m petty and I hated how people acted as if it was canon confirmed that he was yellow).
But some aspects fell flat for me. I would’ve liked more female paladins, or for the one female paladin to not be in the same lion as the girl on our original team (bc really they could stand to mix things up once in a while). I would’ve loved Blaytz to be female and a lesbian, flirting with a female galra servant.
The queen of Altea’s design and role was a big disappointment. It was extremely lazy to just give her all of Allura’s features just with a different dress. She also doesn’t speak a word nor have a name. What happened to her? Who knows. Maybe we’ll find out in future episodes but I’m sceptical.
I’m not keen on how Alfor made a joke out of it when Zarkon was reinforcing class separation. It makes me wonder if that was present on all the planets, just not as enforced. I do like that Zarkon was already classist and power hungry before he died in the rift. It made it feel less like they were trying to excuse his tyranny and more like they were saying “he was a dick but quintessence exacerbated his dickiness”.
I love Honerva’s character, but I don’t like how she had a small, pointy nose before and once she turns evil she gets a hooked nose.
“The Voltron Show”. I know it’s supposed to be meta and make fun of itself/the fandom à la “Ember Island Players” but it just fell a bit flat for me. There were some really funny bits, like Coran sayin Shiro is the most popular character and telling him to put on a tight shirt, and I still don’t know whether I love or hate Pidge complaining about saying fake made-up science words.
But the “Humorous Hunk” thing was really not funny. Not because “oh boo more fat jokes, this time about farting” but because the episode was supposed to be this self-aware thing, parodying the show itself and the fandom and thus going over the top with everything. But them parodying using their fat character as comic relief doesn’t sit right when they continue to do just that outside of the parody. There’s a video called The Adorkable Misogyny of The Big Bang Theory and it talks about ironic lampshading (from around 13:04 if anyone’s interested). That’s what sits wrong with me about Humorous Hunk. They parody the fat comic relief character as a way to show that they’re aware that it’s an unsavory trope, yet continue to use it. I put this in the “meh” because I don’t actually know if they’ll continue to use it. Maybe they’ve finally heard the fans and will stop with the fat jokes. We’ll see next season.
Keith missing from 3 episodes. Don’t get me wrong I’m not upset about that at all, considering there was plenty of him in the first 8 episodes. But I was curious as to what this weeks-maybe-months-long mission would entail. I wouldn’t have minded, like, a minute long segment for Keith in those episodes showing us what exactly he’s up to. Even better would’ve been to show us him missing the team. They could’ve had a short scene of him watching the voltron show and smiling wistfully before he gets called away to the mission. Something like that would’ve had more people emotionally aligned with him.
The Bad:
“Hole in the Sky”. This whole episode a nightmare. Evil Alteans? Really? Is your writing that bad that you’re incapable of showing nuance without going down that route? Allura is apparently too clueless and idealised in her view of Alteans to understand what is going on by the time Keith yells “you’re taking away their will!” Keith has to be some sort of moral compass to her.
Allura saying “you’re no Altean” as if Alteans can’t be morally corrupt. As if she didn’t meet Haggar just last season finale. I know they wanted to make it hard for Allura by presenting her with the option of an idealised society, but they don’t have to make her stupid for that. I’ve come to the conclusion that any and all storylines involving race on vld are going to be badly handled and should thus be scrapped. I’ve had enough.
Lion ranking. The emphasis on Black as leader and Red as second in command feels like it’s devaluing the whole theme of voltron as 5 essential components by assigning greater worth to certain lions. Keith moving to Black and Lance moving to Red were portrayed as upgrades or promotions. Also, does this mean Lance is now Shiro’s second in command? Wasn’t discussed at all.
Allura in the Blue Lion. When Shiro was away, Allura should’ve been in the Black Lion. That’s the only rank that was established right from the beginning as leader and Allura is a great leader. She’s described in the show as the decision maker, and the black paladin is the decisive head of voltron. It’s clear she best fits the role. It also isn’t fair to have her taking orders from people she used to outrank. To rank her below Keith is bad enough, but with the second in command stuff as well, Allura ends up ranked below Keith and Lance. Depowering your WoC is not a good look.
When Shiro comes back though, the second in command thing seems to fly out the window and Allura is back to giving orders despite being in Blue so I guess they’re just inconsistent lmao.
The black lion refusing to let Shiro fly it for a grand total of 2 episodes. Seriously, that lasted 40 minutes. And 22 of those minutes we were learning the backstory. What was the point of that?
Lotor killing Narti. Hoooo boy I’m really mad about this one. It was completely unnecessary. The only reason it happened was for shock value. Lotor realised Haggar was watching him through Narti so he killed her. That makes no sense though, because Narti doesn’t fucking have eyes! She sees through Kova! So if anything, Haggar was seeing indirectly through Kova and Lotor could’ve killed the cat instead! Why he has to kill anyone anyway is a mystery to me. He could’ve knocked her out and left her and Kova there while he and the other generals leave with the ships. How is Haggar going to watch him through Narti if he isn’t even with Narti?
The whole scene was just really unpleasant. Killing off a disabled character never sits right. And there was so much more to her character that could’ve been explored. How did she come to meet Kova? Why did she join Lotor? And mind control! She could’ve used that on characters fighting in or with team voltron! Some quality angst material right there! But nope, she’s dead.
Possible redemption for Lotor. Soz pals, unnecessarily killing your comrade puts you in my shit books.
I don’t actually think he’s going to be redeemed - I think he’s just going to use team voltron while they benefit him and then turn on them as soon as they don’t - but I’m mad at the writers for making me have to sit through endless posts of fandom woobifying his punk ass. “Space Zuko!” they cry. I gaze weakly towards a hypothetical camera as though I am a character on renounced TV show, The Office. “Why.” the word is barely a whisper as it leaves my mouth. I am Tired.

Once Upon A Time...
Dan sighed as he looked out the window of the wooden carriage. He really hated traveling. Really really hated it. The blur of the dark silhouettes of trees filled his vision and the chill of winter hit his face as the carriage tugged into the night.
Dan, or Prince Daniel James Howell of Turntima as he was formally addressed, was on his way to the kingdom of Troi to have a meeting with its king, King Austial in regards to his eldest daughter's hand in marriage. It wasn't for love, it wasn't even Dan's idea. No, it was planned even before he was born, an arranged marriage. Marriage was just a contact, a treaty of peace. It meant nothing more. Maybe that was why Dan wasn't very opposed to the idea of marriage, because he was convinced it meant nothing.
The carriage stopped abruptly. What? No, this wasn't Troi, they weren't even close, Dan knew that much. He could of sworn he saw something deep in the forest move, a quick flash of something lanky and dark. Well that wasn't good, and now Dan was suddenly aware of a deep aching fear in the pit of the stomach, he felt like he was being watched. "What's happening?" Dan asked the driver. It was just he and the driver, it was a rare occasion where Dan was unguarded, which wasn't very bright he supposed as bandits were known to roam the woods they had to travel.
The horses screeched as if in fear. "I have no clue, the horses just stopped, Your Highness," The driver replied. In a spilt second though, the movement caught Dan's eye again, but now his suspicion of something there was confirmed. One minute they were alone and only the unmarked snow and dark trees surrounded them, but then, a second later, dark creatures with lanky limbs appeared.
They had beady blood red eyes that seemed to glow in the darkness and claw like fingers attacked to the ends of the limbs. Their mouths were just pits in their faces with sharp and thorn like teeth lacing the inside. A sudden chilly breeze swept over the carriage and the torches that once lit the carriage blew out swiftly.
Dan wanted to scream, wanted to cry for help, but a lump in his throat prevented the cries from escaping. He wished he could see, he was terrified. He knew monsters like this existed, but he hadn't read up on them much, never expecting to be in a situation where the information would be important, much less crucial for his survival.
Sharp cries of pain from the horses filled the air as the creatures devoured their flesh and Dan was suddenly glad he couldn't see what they were doing, for he knew what he saw would fill his nightmares. Even the cries they let out would scar him, that is if he lived through this to dream another night.
The monsters ate fast though and next came the driver, and this was more terrifying to Dan because it was another human. Of course Dan had some compassion for the horses, but knowing that the creatures had a taste for human, that wasn't good. The creatures ripped off the door to the carriage and the crunching of the man's bones filled the air soon and the iron sent of blood filled Dan's nose. The cries for help. The hopelessness Dan felt, the way he knew this was soon to be his dark fate.
Wasn't it kind of romantic in a way? Knowing your embedding doom lay ahead so soon? You spend your whole life worrying about it, but when it's right in front of you how are you to feel? You know it's coming, but does that offer any relief? Or does it provide terror? Both?
Dan couldn't even distinguish his emotions before the creatures turned their blood thirsty attention to Dan. Their eyes sort of glowed in a way, illuminating their faces with a red light. Their claws were stained with blood and flesh remained stuck in their teeth. The growling noises they made, deep and spine chilling.
A howl from a wolf in the distance. Dan's body shook, he couldn't move though. Claws gripped has shoulders and he was ripped out from the carriage and slammed into the snowy ground. He faintly saw the outline of lots of splotches and three larger pools of blood. He felt bile rise in his throat, thats what he fate was. A pool of crimson staining pure, crisp white snow.
The creatures looked down at him and his heart felt like it was going to explode with how fast it was beating, slamming into his rib cage. He shut his eyes tightly and thought he would never open them again. This was the end. This was death. The snarl of a wolf. What? Why did that sound so close? Ripping, tearing, screaming. Dan's body burned with the contact as the creatures clawed at him.
"Serelia! Don't just stand there! Make your stupid mangy mutt do something!" The voice of a male called. That wasn't one of the creatures though, no, that was a human. The voice was warm and almost made Dan feel peaceful despite the fact that he was bleeding to death. Sleep sounded very good... wow Dan was tired.
"She's not a mutt!" A woman's voice. "Anyway, Rix is already on it," shortly after those words were spoken, a sound, almost like twigs snapping, was heard. Suddenly no more claws raked at Dan. He felt someone drag him away from the carriage and he was pushed onto his feet.
"Alright, you gotta work with me here, try to walk, yeah?" The male's voice. Dan nodded his head weakly. He opened his eyes and was greeted by raven hair and icy blue eyes. Dan tried his best, but his legs weren't cooperating very well. His eyes shut again.
"He's half dead," The woman's voice spoke, didn't the male call her 'Serelia'? "That's no good, what are we going to do with a half dead prince?"
"Shut up and help me out," The male's voice snapped. "He's heavy." Were these people bandits? Were they going to kill Dan? No, they saved Dan. Whatever it was they were going to do with Dan, it wasn't kill him.
"Aye aye, captain," Serelia said. He felt another arm wrap around him. "Try not to bleed on me too much, you hear? Blood isn't my favorite thing to scrub at."
"Shut up," The male hissed. Dan didn't think he really liked the Serelia girl, she wasn't very nice. Then again, Dan could hardly form a coherent though. "What about your little puppy dog?" The man asked.
"She'll follow, she knows her way around, anyway even if she doesn't follow I'm not too hard to find with her," She answered. "Now follow my lead, I know somehow who could probably save this royal pain in the ass." Dan didn't hear what the male had to say to that because he drifted off, unconscious.
---
When Dan woke up he was laying on something very soft. He didn't open his eyes though, he just laid there. Suddenly a conversation filled his ears and he couldn't help but to eavesdrop.
"Serelia, isn't it nice to see you," an unfamiliar voice spoke.
"Skip the small talk, Litzu. Just take care of the boy and we'll be on our way," that was Serelia's voice, Dan knew that much.
"Eh, I don't feel like it," The woman Serelia called Litzu said. Dan didn't like this lady either. "Motivate me."
"He's bleeding to death for fucks sake! I don't care what past you too need to work out, do it on your own time, right now this guy is dying!" The male from earlier yelled. Dan thought he liked this guy, he seemed the nicest. Also, he didn't seem like he wanted to kill Dan, which was definitely a plus.
"It wouldn't be the first dead body Serelia had to dump," Litzu growled. The wolf from earlier made some kind of a growling sound as well, probably against Litzu and pro Serelia, if Dan had to guess.
"He's a prince," Serelia's voice was rough and laced with anger. "I'm sure everyone would be glad to have him back, maybe a monetary reward would be involved. Is that enough to motivate you to heal him?" The wolf was still growling.
"Ah, you know me so well, love," Litzu purred. Dan slipped back into darkness after hearing this though.
---
Dan awoke for the second time to the warm smells of ginger and rosemary. His muscles ached and he was very sore, but other than that, at least he wasn't dead. His eyes fluttered open to see a blurry pair of icy blue eyes looking down at him. He blinked his vision into focus and the person leaning over him pulled back.
"He's awake," The makes voice spoke.
"G'Morning, Sleeping Beauty," Serelia's voice purred. It came from a woman in a sold black dress with a deep purple hood on her torso, it was laced in the front with black sting, a bow tied it off at the top so it didn't fall off. Her raven hair was amazingly long and tied in a side ribbon so it fell down her right side. She had large pale grey eyes that resembled the moon itself. Her thin pale face showed no emotion.
The male with icy blue eyes stood next to her, his arms crossed in front of his chest, but a soft smile on his soft pink lips. There were bags under his eyes, one of those eyes was half covered with jet black raven fringe, in the same fashion as Dan's though his hair was a chestnut brown color and facing the other direction. He wore a brown jacket over a pale blue (and very stained) button up, black jeans, and black boots.
The other person, whom Dan assumed was Litzu, was shorter than the male by a least six inches but taller than Serelia by a two or three inches. She had short blonde hair the barely reached her shoulders and eyes that lacked color so much they were pretty much white that was tinted green. She wore a white dress that was pretty much summer attire, which slightly confused Dan as it was winter, but he wasn't about to question someone that very well might of just saved his life.
Dan sat up slowly and stretched his arms, wincing slightly as he did so. He opened his eyes again and blinked a few times. "Thanks," Dan said, "for saving me, I mean." He elaborated.
"Don't thank me, this brat made me do it, I wanted to watch you die slowly," Serelia confessed, slapping the male on the back. Dan then notice the wolf with pale grey fur and bright blue eyes sitting at her feet who seemed to hum in agreement. "The name's Serelia by the way."
"Don't worry about her, she's just still grumpy because she got locked up in a dungeon for two years," The male said, smirking. "M'names Phil,"
"I'm Litzu and I'm the actual reason you're still alive," Litzu piped up. Serelia rolled her eyes and the wolf scoffed. Phil slapped Serelia on the arm.
"Uh, right, okay then," Dan crossed his legs and didn't take his eyes off of the wolf. "What's up with the dog?" He finally said.
"Rix is not a dog!" Serelia yelped.
"Oh no, now you've got her started," Phil facepalmed. Dan was confused, what did he do? He just asked about the dog.
"She's a fimilar, first of all, second, she's a wolf," She hissed. The wolf made a noise Dan assumed was in agreement to what Serelia said. "Also, she's that one that actually saved you."
"Okay so maybe it was a team effort," Litzu said. "But I was a big part of it."
"Well Rix saved him before you!"
"He wouldn't be alive right now without my herbs!"
"Well Rix saved him first still!"
"Stop arguing!" Phil yelled, cutting them off. "You sound like two five year olds arguing over who'll get the last cookie!" Dan couldn't help but smile at that, he found it amusing. He also noted that to some degree two fairly attractive girls were fighting over him.
Dan looked around the cabin he was in as the three continued their little argument. There was a little kitchen area with a table and two chairs, some counter space, cabinets, and a wood burning stove, no sink or icebox though (which made sense Dan guessed because they were in the middle of the forest, where would the electricity and water come from?) there was a sofa, a coffee table, a stack of wood which Dan assumed was for the stove, and then the bed Dan was laying on. (There was also two backpacks sat next to the door but those looked out of place and Dan assumed they belonged to Serelia and Phil)
Dan looked down at himself. His button up shirt was torn and stained to the point of no repair. However, his jeans seemed to be rather intact, which was good. His chest and arms were pretty beat up, lots of scratches, a particular one across Dan's stomach was the most concerning to Dan, but it seemed pretty manageable. There was some weird herb mix rubbed on Dan's wounds, it was very potent and almost overwhelming, but if it was healing him Dan had noting against it.
"Earth to princey boy," Serelia's voice broke into Dan's thoughts. He looked up to see all three of them looking at Dan expectingly. Had someone been talking to him?
"Uh, what?" Dan asked. Phil laughed a little but had the decency to cover it up with a fake cough when he saw no one else thought it was funny.
"I repeat, where were you going all fancied up?" Serelia said, glaring at Dan, looking very annoyed and unamused.
"Oh uh, Troi, fiancé stuff," Dan replied vaguely. "Also it's kind of late for this but I should probably tell you my name, er, if you don't know..?"
"Prince Daniel Howell, of course we know," Serelia rolled her eyes as she said his name. "Anyway, more important matters, fiancé?"
"Oh, heh right, yeah, I'm kind of famous," Dan muttered. "You'd think I'd remember that."
"The guy has bloody dementia I swear," Serelia hissed. "Fiancé. Talk."
"Oh right!" Dan yelped. Phil cough laughed again but Dan ignored it. "Yeah, sorry. Anyway yeah we were going to settle official business and my hand in marriage was to be offered to King Austial's eldest daughter, what was her name again? Melissa?"
"Melanie," Phil coughed as if to make it subtle. "Oh wow looks like I have a cold, lots of coughing."
"Oh yes it's suddenly come to me, her name is Melanie," Dan said, trying to hide his smile.
"You're going to marry a girl you don't even kn-what?" Litzu stuttered. Dan laughed a little. "What's so funny?"
"It's not for love, royal marriages never are, why do you think they're so many royal affairs?" He asked rhetorically. Litzu seemed to ponder this for a moment.
"Well what if you like, fall in love with her?" She suggested. Dan couldn't hide his laugh that time, it was too funny and ironic.
"That won't happen," He said bluntly after he'd stopped laughing long enough to get a word in.
"Well why not? Don't be rude I'm sure she's really nice and-" Dan cut Litzu off.
"Because I'm gay, I don't like girls." He told her. Her cheeks flushed and Phil didn't cover his laughter with a cough that time, he doubled over laughing.
"It's not funny!" She squeaked. Dan joined Phil in laughing because the whole thing was very ironic and Dan couldn't help but be amused at it.
"Sorry to break this up, but am I the only one concerned with us actually having to do something with Danny Boy here?" Serelia said, placing a hand on her hip and glaring at everyone in turn. Her wolf had abandoned the ground and now laid curled up in the corner, asleep.
"What do you mean?" Phil asked, brows furrowed in confusion.
"Well he has to get to Troi eventually and we're gonna help, yeah?" Serelia said. Phil nodded in agreement. "Well then we need to talk plans."
"I volunteer we go when it's daylight and they're no walking monster tree demons," Dan spoke. Serelia shook her head.
"They're still there in the daylight and were even more at risk when the suns up," she told him. Dan raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms.
"I don't get why," He stated.
"I'll explain," Phil volunteered. "Serelia has moon magic, her and her little wolf friend are pretty much useless at day time,"
"I am not! I just don't do as well as I do at night is all," she said.
"No, you're useless," Litzu agreed with Phil.
"Wait, 'moon magic'? That sounds anticlimactic," Dan exclaimed.
"It's is, its very very lame," Litzu declared. "I'm not just saying that because I hate Serelia either. Her magic is just really dumb.
"Rude~," Serelia sung.
"Serelia can control living things and set up magic barriers, but only when the moon is out," Phil explained. "She also has a weird thing where she can talk to wolves."
"Ah, coolio," Dan replied, looking at Serelia. She didn't seem all that special, despite the fact that she looked pretty scary with her weird eye color.
"'Coolio'?" Phil eyed Dan, looking confused and slightly like he was judging Dan.
"What?" He asked. Phil shook his head and held his hands up.
"Nothin', you do you, boo," Phil said.
"Flirt on your own time guys!" Serelia snapped. Dan rolled his eyes but directed his attention from Phil back to Serelia. "Okay, so we need to get travel at night, any objections?"
"Nope," Dan said.
"No," Phil agreed.
"Hey who made you the leader?!" Litzu whined. Dan glared at her but said nothing.
"I'm the leader, any objections?" Serelia asked.
"Nope," Dan said.
"No," Phil agreed again.
"Democracy is messed up," Litzu muttered under her breath. Dan caught Phil's eye to see they were shining with amusement and it looked like he was having a hard time keeping a straight face.
The wolf sleeping in the corner sneezed and it made Dan jump. He blushed and crawled out of the bed. "Wow, our fearless prince, jumping at a little puppy sneeze," Phil teased.
"Shut up," Dan stood next to Phil and stretched again. He whined slightly at the pain, but it wasn't all that bad. "At least I finally got out of bed."
"True, true," Phil agreed. "I'll try not to sneeze and scare you." Dan slapped him on the arm.
"Are you guys always like this to royals?" He asked rhetorically. Dan wasn't really complaining, the lighthearted conversation and occasional joke were fine by Dan, but they were uncommon and Dan wasn't quite used to it. Most people acted like they had a stick shoved up their buts when they talked to Dan, he never just had a relaxed conversation with them.
"Yeah, we have no morals," Phil smiled and Dan was glad that Phil didn't take offense to his lame little joke.
"This isn't going to work if you guys are going to abandon all strategy talk to flirt every three minutes," Serelia snapped. "Keep in mind little Philly, Dan's practically married."
"Don't put it like that," Dan winced, cringing a little at Serelia's wording. It wasn't a lie, but it still made Dan a little uncomfortable. He wasn't married, or even engaged, yet. He was still technically a free man, even if it was only for a little while. Phil was kind of cute and all, but there was no way Dan could or would pursue a relationship with the man. Unless Phil was okay with having an affair... no, Dan couldn't do that, no matter how cute the boy was. He couldn't bring someone into that mess just for his own gain.
"We weren't flirting," Phil whined. Yeah, Phil really had a one track mind, Dan realized. He didn't even seem to care about the married thing. It was pretty true though, he was pretty much married. He wasn't flirting with Phil, intentionally, but he couldn't help if the boy was kind of attractive and maybe Dan's mind was sort of caught up on that a little. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but Dan couldn't be in a relationship with Phil.
Serelia rolled her eyes but continued to talk about how they were going to get to Troi, "So we need to continue to head north until the break in the trees, then comes the river, we probably don't have to worry about that and we have our little ticket right here," she nodded towards Dan who took a fake bow, not amusing anyone but Phil who covered his laugh with a cough. "Once we get there, Phil, Litzu, and I will get our reward and then we'll be on our way."
"That's a stupid plan," Litzu said. "What if they through us in the dungeon because they think we hurt princey boy here?" She asked, wrapping an arm around Dan's shoulders. Dan saw Phil shift in the corner of his vision but didn't pay much attention.
"They won't do that," Dan pipped, "not without reason, unless one of you is a convicted criminal?" It was more of a question than an explanation.
"Okay change of plans," Serelia said. "Phil will take Dan to the castle and I'll stay as far away from that glorified hole in the ground of torture as possible."
"Umm... yeah okay," Phil didn't really look like he was listening, he was starring at where Litzu had her arm on Dan. Why was he doing that? There had to be a reason, right? Jealousy was the only reason to come to Dan's mind. No, Dan scolded himself, he needed to get the idea of he and Phil being anything out of his head.
"Okay, um, Litzu, you can let go of me now," Dan said awkwardly, trying to wiggle out of her grasp. The realization that Phil was starring at them because of something like that made Dan uncomfortable. He didn't want Phil's gaze on him anymore, it was making him self conscious for no reason.
"Fine~," She sung. She didn't just let go of Dan like a normal person would of though, no. Instead, she pushed him into Phil, who let out a squeak as Dan slammed into him. They landed on the ground with a thud. Dan's face flushed as he noticed he was practically sitting on Phil. Then he realized that for some reason, Phil had his on Dan's hips. Okay, that was worse. (A/N don ac li u dun lik it danyul) Okay, maybe it was better. (A/N buttr&u bttr thank me l8r bc u luved it)
"Uh-I-um... sorry, are you okay?" Dan asked sheepishly. Phil smiled up at him and when he finally spoke amusement laced his voice.
"Oh wow Dan at least buy me dinner first," Phil teased, or was that flirting? No, it was teasing right? Just a joke. Then he winked. Dan might of had a heart attack just then.
"Uh-I-I'll get up," Dan squeaked. Phil nodded and took his hands off of Dan's waist. Dan got off of Phil and offered his hand to help Phil up, who gladly accepted.
"Litzu! We're trying to get them to stop trying to get in each other's pants, that's not how you get them to stop, idiot!" Serelia chided, slapping Litzu on the arm. Dan adjusted his hair, hands fidgeting for something to do.
"We're not-never mind I forgot to care," Phil said, rolling his eyes. Dan nodded his head in agreement though his face was still warm with embarrassment.
"So, on to more important matters," Serelia started. "We should rest today and then set out tonight, yeah?"
"Yeah," Dan and Phil said in unison. (A/N haha they're so married, NERDS)
"Sure," Litzu agreed for once. "Daniel, I'll give you some herbs to help you sleep. Come," she gestured with her hand for Dan to follow her and walked off. Dan eyed Phil like 'should I go or..?' Phil shrugged, so Dan decided to go. What's the worst that could happen? Okay, maybe there were some bad things that could happen, like homicide, or genocide. Maybe omnicide, which really wouldn't be all that bad if you thought about it, humans were terrible.
"Okay, so, where are we goin'?" Dan asked, trying to look and act casual. His breath kind of hitched in his throat a little, where was this weird healing lady taking him? What if she killed him? Or raped him? Okay, that was a bit much, Dan doubted that she would rape him.
"Shut up and wrap a blanket around yourself," she ordered. "We're going outside." Wow okay she was very very dominant, the rape thing was starting to sound more and more realistic. Dan obliged and walked over to grab a blanket. He mouthed "save me" to Phil as he did so, who just giggled and waved 'goodbye' to Dan. Dan rolled his eyes, trying to look annoyed, but ended up just smiling in amusement.
"Stop flirting," Serelia growled. Dan rolled his eyes again, but his smile was gone. He disliked Serelia more and more the more she did these things. He heard the growl of her wolf as if it was agreeing with its master. Dan wrapped it around him, painfully aware of the fact that everyone was starring at him.
Serelia started a conversation with Phil as Dan walked away, but Dan was aware that Phil never took his eyes off of Dan as he walked away. He would of made a little show of over exaggerating his hip movements, but he was trying to not flit with Phil. He didn't really want to either, well, maybe a little. He still didn't wave his hips though because if Serelia saw him she might make her wolf eat him. It was a stupid thought but Dan wouldn't put it past the woman, she seemed to really dislike Dan. A dark thought flew into Dan's brain. What if Serelia was... jealous? No, Dan didn't have time to overthink Serelia being a brat, it was probably just her personality anyway.
"Earth to Daniel," Litzu's voice shook Dan from his thoughts. Was she talking  to Dan? Oh no, how much had she said?
"Er, what?" Dan stuttered. Litzu rolled her eyes and grabbed Dan's hand, pulling him out the already opened door. Uh, when did she open that? Dan still felt Phil's gaze as he walked out of the cabin. What was his problem? "So what do you need me for?" Dan struggled to keep his blanket on with his left hand as his right hand was kind of... in use.
"Not yet," She said, still holding Dan's hand. He wished she'd let go. He wished he could think of something other than glimmering blue eyes and dark fringe. The worst thing though was that he was starting to wish he didn't have to marry that princess. She was probably rude, she probably wasn't even remotely kind. Phil though-no. No thinking of Phil. "Get out of my head," Dan wanted to scream. He'd never felt like this before, he'd never fallen so quick. It wasn't love though, was it? No.
As a child, Dan never heard the phrase "I love you." Not to him, not exchanged between his parents, never. He knew people threw it around too much though, and he wasn't about to do that. He felt goosebumps when Phil's blue eyes met his brown ones, thinking of the boy made his heart jump into his throat, and the idea of just touching the boy made Dan's stomach knot and his cheeks burn, but it wasn't love. He didn't know that emotion and throwing it around wasn't something that excited him in the slightest. Love didn't sound... fun. The idea of you're entire life revolving around one person... that was terrifying. Relationships scared Dan even more, because love didn't hold a relationship together. Love wasn't enough, you needed more than that. What if Dan didn't have more than love? What if he didn't even have love?
A cold hand slapped Dan's face, making him jump. He realized that Litzu wasn't holding onto his hand anymore so he took the opportunity to hug his blanket closer because wow it was cold. Small flakes of frozen water drifted down from the sky, dancing to the ground slowly to join the other snow that still littered the forest floor.
"What the h-" Litzu cut him off. Ugh, he hated that. It was rude, and Dan wasn't used to being treated like that. His cheek burned from the contact and his mouth hung slightly ajar in shock.
"You need to stop thinking about Phil for five minutes to listen to me," Litzu hissed. Dan closed his mouth growled lowly in the back of is throat, but he kept his mouth shut, physically biting his tongue to keep from snapping. "That girls no good, the king's daughter, I mean."
"What do you mean?" Dan spat. He was curious, but what good was Litzu's word anyway? Dan knew little to nothing about the woman. For all he knew she was just about to kill him.
"She's just no good, she'll tear you up, that is if you make it to Troi alive," she told Dan, who was still skeptical. Dan was just about to ask another question when an arrow went flying right past his ear, hitting the tree behind him. Warmth trickled down his neck from his ear as he realized what just happened. An arrow was shot at him and it nicked his ear.
"Get down!" Someone yelled. Dan didn't though, he couldn't move. Was that Litzu that yelled that? No, it was a male's voice. It was familiar voice though, who was it?
Pressure. Pressure on Dan's chest and he fell to the ground on his back, the air escaped his lungs in a puff. Growling. Growling filled Dan's ears. Grey. Grey fur clouded Dan's vision.
Then he realized what had saved him. Serelia's familiar. He heard yelling in the distance, but it was a loud blur of sounds, all mixing together. He couldn't distinguish a single word. What was happening? The snow was cold, Dan was tired. Sleep... sleep sounded good. Dan was going to sleep.
Once again, Dan passed out.
---
He woke up on the soft bed in Litzy's house, warm blankets piled on top of him. His eyes fluttered open and everything was a blur, wow those lights were bright. He blinked a few times to try and focus his vision. He felt like he had a hangover, and Dan knew what that felt like. Dan was a lightweight and got drunk on half a glass of wine, so hangovers were normal for Dan.
"Hey, Dan," A soft voice cooed. It was a nice voice, Dan liked that voice. He liked the person it belonged to as well. Dan was so focused on the voice he didn't realize that it called him 'Dan'. Not Daniel, Dan. Or that they were alone. All he cared about was how Phil was sitting next to Dan's bed and how Dan liked his voice.
"M'I like your voice," Dan slurred. He felt like he was drunk and hungover at the same time. Yeah, that was a better way to describe it. Phil laughed. "M'like your laugh too."
"Litzu said that the herbs would make you tipsy, I didn't think she meant drunk out of your mind," Phil said, smiling. Dan liked his smile too. Dan liked his eyes. Dan liked his hair. Dan liked his everything.
"Noooo, I'm not drunk," Dan whined. "Don't say that." Dan pushed the blankets off of him. "Too hot."
"I hope Serelia and Litzu get back soon I have no idea what to do with you," Phil thought out loud. Dan sat up and just looked at Phil. Just admired him. Wow, he was pretty. Very very pretty. Phil bit his lip nervously under Dan's gaze, and oh freaking wow that was hot. It took all Dan had to not attack Phil right then and kiss him. Luckily Dan had some self control, even being slightly intoxicated. Dan broke the awkward eye contact though and looked away from Phil, at the wall behind him. Get a grip Dan, he thought to himself, get some self contr- his thought was cut off as pale thin lips pressed a kiss to his mouth.
Phil.
Phil was kissing Dan.
What?
The kiss was quick and shy though so as soon as it started it stopped. Dan didn't even have a chance to think, let alone kiss back. Dan wasn't very happy with that. A little peck that he didn't even react to.
"I-I'm sorry I shouldn't of-" Dan cut Phil off but returning the kiss, but with one actually worth something. Seriously, Phil's kiss was kind of pathetic. Any normal person wouldn't be happy with that, right? It wasn't weird that Dan felt a pull, urging him to press his mouth to Phil's. Dan's eyes fluttered closed as soon and he put his lips to Phil's.
Dan put a hand on Phil's neck, pressing himself closer to the blue eyed boy. Phil didn't miss a beat and kissed back without hesitation. Did he want this just as much as Dan did? Phil set a hand on Dan's side, then he moved it to Dan's lower back. He pushed Dan closed and Dan wasn't about to complain. His senses were on fire and everything in him craved Phil, wanted him closer. The wanting was so strong it hurt. It was a hunger for Phil that was burning in his chest, tearing him to pieces. Phil's other hand sat on Dan's left side, a gentle gesture that sent chills down Dan's spine.
Someone behind Phil cleared their throat and Dan and Phil sprang away from each other, faces burning a bright crimson. Dan looked up to see Serelia standing there, purple hood sitting on her head and snow dotting her clothing and hair. Her grey eyes blazed with something Dan couldn't read and her lips were pursed. Litzu stood next to her, smiling like an idiot. The wolf was sitting at their feet, also covered in snow.
"We leave you alone for five minutes," Serelia hisses, words sharp as daggers. Litzu clapped her hands together excitedly and took a breath to speak but Serelia shot her a glare and Litzu clamped her mouth shut.
"Um-I-Wait are you two a-oh my-I'm a terrible person," Dan stumbled over his words. Did he just ruin a relationship?
"No but Serelia thinks we are," Phil's voice was stone cold, which was new to Dan. He hasn't heard Phil talk this way before, he wasn't going to lie, it was hot.
"What do you mean 'thinks'?" Dan questioned. He felt stupid all of the sudden. He didn't get the whole relationship thing. Were they together or not..?
"Oh I'm sorry, I meant wishes," Phil growled, not taking his eyes off of Serelia, who was starring at Dan, eyes unforgiving and cold.
"I do not," Serelia spat back. "I hope you two are happy together with your little royal affair." She stormed out of the cabin, wolf dead on her trial.
"It's not an affair since I'm not married yet," Dan muttered under his breath, watching Serelia as she had her little fit.
"Don't mind her," Litzu sung. "Welcome to the I-kissed-Serelia's-boy-toy-so-now-she-hates-me club!"
"Is-the-uh-um, boy toy?" Dan raised his eye brows at Phil who was now looking at Dan since Serelia left. Phil shook his head 'no' immediately, somehow understanding what Dan meant. Dan was still kind of loopy from the herbs.
"She tried pretty flippin' hard but no, no way. Never," He insisted. "M'A little gay, no girls for me thank you very much," Dan snorted a little laugh at this, he wasn't sure why but he found it funny.
"I really don't want to marry that stupid princess, whatever her name is," Phil opened his mouth as if he was going to say her name but he kept it shut and let Dan finish. "It was kind of sad, really, I just gave up. I didn't care that I was being forced to some snobby princess that I didn't love. Isn't that pathetic?"
"I wouldn't say it's pathetic," Phil said. He eyed Dan's hand like he was going to hold it, but he ended up not even giving it a second glance. Maybe he didn't care about Dan in the same way Dan did him, but Dan didn't mind. He'd gotten the guy to kiss him, that's got to be more points than getting his hand held.
"I would," Litzu piped in. Phil shot her a glare and she put her hands up in defeat. "Right, lovey dovey happily ever after fairytale moment, gotcha."
"I really don't want to marry her," Dan repeated. Phil gave him a look of sympathy. His eyes trailed back to Dan's hand but he didn't touch it. Okay, now the little looks were starting to annoy Dan. "If you don't just grab my hand right now I swear I'm going to marry that brat of a princess just so I can throw you in the dungeon."
"M'sorry you're into bondage, hm? That's good to know," Phil teased but grabbed Dan's hand nevertheless. Dan's face flushed and he slapped Phil's arm with his free hand. "BDSM too?"
"Phil!" Dan yelped sheepishly.
"Wow aren't you vocal? Also good to know," Phil continued. At this point Dan was redder than a tomato and Litzu was laughing so hard in the background Dan thought she might wet herself. Phil giggled and his tongue poked out of his mouth as he did so. Wow that was hot. "Sorry I'll stop."
"Good," Dan sighed. Phil bit his lip and and knew that it was to keep himself from making a sexual joke. Dan just rolled his eyes and Phil bit his lip harder. "Wow how dirty is your mind?"
"You don't want to know," Phil shook his head, laughing to himself. "Well if you play your cards right you might find out for yourself someday," Dan blushed deeper and hid his face in his hand. "Wow you're such a bottom."
"And you're such a pain in the ass," Dan muttered. "Don't comment on that I just got it." He said when he looked up to see Phil struggling to hold in a laugh.
"So, are you guys up for running away from royal guards for... Well the rest of your lives?" Litzu pipped up, looking out the window. "Because it looks like you might have to, well, we might have to."
Dan and Phil made eye contact and smiled a little. "I'm down, what about you?" Dan asked.
"Well I mean I'm up," Phil winked and Dan face palmed.
"Do the innuendos ever stop?" He asked, laughing a little.
"Nope," Phil's smile was from ear to ear and he looked so so happy. Dan smiled as well.
"Good,"
"That was better than any stupid marriage vows any church could of made up," Phil chirpped.
"Isn't it a big early for marriage?"
"Says the gay prince who was just about to get married to some rude princess and didn't care," Phil quipped.
"Fair enough," Dan giggled.
And they lived happily ever after, running away from guards and making inappropriate jokes.
THE END
