The painful love
Tumblr media
Nene's dream is to be loved by someone, because she was always mistreated by boys…. she gave up her life, "her marriage" to save her best friend, and she will give up all of that if she is by Hanako's side , these are all just details, it's not about marriage, it's about her loving him.
He's a ghost, he can't get married, he can't have children, he can't grow old with her, he can't even leave school, she won't be able to introduce him to her parents, she won't be able to meet his family, no one can see him . All Nene has is the great love she feels for him, and what wins over Hanako most is her desire to stay.
Tumblr media
One of the forms of love, regardless of whether it is friendship or romance, is for someone to "stay" for you. Someone chooses to be by your side, even with your story, your past, your hurts and flaws. Nene stood by him, even when no one else did, and this contrasts greatly with his relationship with Tsukasa.
Tsukasa wants to leave, yes, to save Hanako, but Hanako doesn't want to be saved, he wants to be forgiven, he wants to be loved, he wants the people he loves to stay. So, when Nene went after him on the far shore, even though he scolded her, he couldn't hold back any longer. Because she did all that because she wanted to be with him, when not even the person he loves most, Tsukasa, had decided to leave.
Tumblr media
She is the only person who wants to stay by his side without thinking twice, no matter what she has to do, she will be there. Even now, even going back in time, she still remembers him, remembers the desire she had to see him in the audience watching her in the play.
It's ironic, because Nene wanted a handsome boy for everyone to see, she wanted to use the boys as a trophy, not to show off, but to show the boys who were mean to her that someone can love her, even with this "flaw." "superficial and futile.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But in the end she fell in love with a ghost, the ordinary boy who is not popular, who no one can see. That was something I loved about the construction of the story, how Aidairo didn't give Nene what she wanted, but what she needed.
To be loved by the boy who finds her "flaw" attractive, to be loved by the boy who protects her, who listens to her, who is there for her. Being loved by the imperfect boy who has his own story and who makes mistakes, who is not the prettiest guy in the class, but who truly loves, no matter how much he tries to hide it, no matter how mysterious he is.
Tumblr media
He is afraid that she will find out about him, because he doesn't want her to leave, almost like a silent request "please don't go.." Hanako is a boy who seems to have been abandoned a lot, maybe it only happened to Tsukasa, but even Let it just be him, Tsukasa is the love of his life, not in a romantic way, but he is the person he loves most, and he is gone.
The love between these two is tragic, but true, seeing how the two complement each other, even with the "flaws" and mistakes they make. It's an intense, true love, a continuous struggle between being together or separated by destiny.
Yes, destiny, it is he who is manipulating everything, their destiny is not to be together, but they are fighting against it, even if they have to break the world.
And, I hope, they break the world together with Tsukasa. Because he loves Amane, because he didn't want to leave him, but he had to, it was the only option, because he loves Amane so much that he wants him to live and be happy, even without him.
But for Amane, there is no happiness without Tsukasa, and now, there is no happiness without Nene either.

Hi 👋
can you do an analysis of hanako's reactions 👇👇
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i know a lot has happened but for whatever reason he was crying??
what did tsukasa mean to Nene his new assistant , what would he do ??
Have a good day
I can only give you my best guesses! Who knows what Amane is thinking? I could be wrong... but let's think about AMANE!!!
For one thing, I think he had a hubris with simply assuming Tsukasa would have 0 interest in Nene-chan ... maybe he thought Tsukasa was so childish/innocent/immature, that a girl would just not intrigue him in that manner? I doubt Tsukasa ever showed interest in anything but him growing up... So initial shock might just be at ... MY OTOUTO???????????????? MY LITTLE OTOUTO?????????????? MY OTOUTO DID WHAT ? TSUKASA MY LITTLE OTOUTO????????
Amane, who KNOWS Tsukasa, has more room for devastating shock here than Nene-chan, who has no sense of Tsukasa's nature! She doesn't know this is out of character... or what it even means! Can Amane even interpret Tsukasa's intent here? Just how out of the loop is he? He can admit he doesn't quite get Tsukasa anymore, but he looked rather excited and fond of that reality (like he was getting to know new sides of him, maybe) ... but I think it got real here lol. TOO unknowable!!!
Hearing the sound at first, but not seeing it, must make Amane feel crazy, like he's imagining things!!
On top of this ....
If we think about Amane... he does not like to feel left out...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a boy who will mope if you go to a party without him... he will get jealous if you have a nightmare about someone other than him.... he is veeeerryyy sensitive.... Amane is very, very clingy!!! Needy!!! Insecure!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I cannot think of anything more easy to take as "choosing to leave me behind" than Tsukasa taking Nene-chan, not him, and leaving... ah the helplessness.
I kind of also think that... Amane has had it a bit "easy" with Nene-chan, in that she's not popular, there isn't really... much to worry about...? Kou does not count lol. But I do think his TWIN BROTHER suddenly going after her is JUST panic inducing haha. Light a fire under him! A lot of emotions to be forced to have all at once-- about both Nene-chan, and Tsukasa.
Amane is nervous enough about TSUCHIGOMORI being alone with Nene-chan, what he might tell her, given all he knows about Amane's past. I cannot think of a more nightmare terrifying situation for Amane than Tsukasa being alone with Nene-chan... and Tsukasa suddenly confirming romantic interest in her, on top of it all. While having made a plan that utterly immobilizes Amane ...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is nothing that spells doom for Amane more than Tsukasa and Nene-chan corroborating about him ahahahahahahaa, and enjoying each other's company potentially ...
oh the gossip!
And why not invite him... why??? why??? not invited to the clubhouse? Left here helplessly????? BY TSUKASA???? TSUKASA???
ahahahaha
I also think Amane is so weird about what "assistant" means. I think for him it does mean something like girlfriend ... he uses it so damn weirdly... it entails so much.... no sane person uses the word like he does to justify the possessive nonsense.... if he's scared what could happen to Nene-chan, it's not "because I love her", it is, "because she is my assistant, so..."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ugh Iro-sensei ... writes this thing ... where guys ... have deranged ideas of platonic titles like assistant .... secretary .... servant ... and skew them like they come with romantic implications or are a form of commitment, as if you-- make a girl you like your-- employee,,,
Tumblr media
THIS ISN'T WHAT A SECRETARY DOES!!! AND AMANE, THAT'S NOT WHAT AN ASSISTANT IS!!!!! YOU'RE HER 'BOSS' YOU DON'T GET TO DICTATE WHO SHE , MARRIES ?!??!?!?!?!? ????!??!?? AND THIS GUY ... WHY WOULD SHE BE DRESSED IN A MAID OUTFIT AND COOK YOU DINNER ??? IT ALSO DOESN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING YOU WANT OR EXPECT OR FEEL! "my special assistant"....
In Snow White, Estelio, the servant of his Princess, Neige, goes on such a wild ramble to Neige to try to reassure her he loves her, indirectly, by assuring her he will "always be her servant" .... she just wants to hear 'I love you' ... but he can't, he won't, he has to convey his devotion in the form of his FORMAL POSITION--!! Estelio has more reasons to rely on this platonic formal position due to literally being barred from marrying the Princess due to his bloodline, but it's still something Iro-sensei chooses to write... like, having an employed position, in place of a romantic one.
Tumblr media
I think that word has a very mysterious meaning and implication to Amane, so Tsukasa ..... saying ....
Tumblr media
Hearing this makes him feel crazy I'm sure ... as a result ... he's put so much unknowable emphasis upon what 'assistant' means ... Tsukasa may as well be saying, "we're married now, okay?" ....
He's overwhelmed. Amane's own bizarre definition of 'assistant' is biting him in the ass, finally. As it should!!! A girl wants to be your damn... girlfriend!!! Not your employee!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*straightens hat* hope that all is interesting to think about .... Amane's little psyche....

Chapter 13 — The Color Changing Katana
Word Count: 3559
Tumblr media
Summary: You did it. You put an end to the tragedy that followed those you began to call family. You returned to your family, both old and new. However the two years and the struggling week among demons, were only the first step. A long road awaits you, but for now you receive your reward: a colorful blade heavy with meanings.
Tumblr media
“I’m almost done… And… There it is.” Hanako cries with a proud smile as she leaves your back, smiling proudly. “Did you like it, sis?”
You look at the river close to the stone you’re sit in, and watch your reflection on the water. There, you can see your sister’s hard job on your hair. She was saying she wanted to braid your hair with a couple flowers she found by the river when she was walking around with Rokuta. She would usually do this to Nezuko, but your sister was an oni and you found it dangerous for her to leave at such a late time, so you decided to allow her to do so. Besides, you found it hard to say no to her big puppy eyes, not after two years without seeing them on a daily basis. After checking her job, you smile to her.
“It’s lovely, Hanako.” You tell her, hugging her tight. “Thank you, dear.”
“You’re welcome, sis!” She says smiling, before groaning a bit. “It’s… a bit too tight, sis.”
“My, oh, my. I’m sorry, Hanako.” You tell her, letting her go. You stand up and show her your hand. “Now, let’s go back, shall we?”
“Yes!” She says, holding your hand with her own, bringing a basket of flowers in the other.
Happily, the two of you began your way back to your uncle’s house.
It’s been around fifteen days ever since you returned from the Final Selection. You were greeted with a surprise when you found Nezuko and Tanjiro awake. You didn’t had much time to rejoice, since you fell asleep for two days straight. When you woke up, you found yourself in your siblings room, with Tanjiro and Nezuko in their smaller forms cuddled up to you along with Rokuta. Hantengu said it was probably because of all the physical and emotional stress, along with the lack of proper rest and food and the few wounds you sustained that lead you to that point.
You’ve made a full recovery from that time and were spending quite the little time you had left with your siblings before you began your actual job. Your sword should arrive today, but you still had no news from whoever was supposed to deliver it to you.
Although you worried about it, your main focus was being with your family.
“We’re home!” Hanako cried happily as you reached home and found your uncle and Takeo doing something outside. Your brother flinched at your sister’s high pitch.
“We’re home, uncle.” You said too, but on your normal tone, to not bother him.
“Welcome back.” Hantengu said, before noticing that your hair had flowers in it. “Oh, what is that? Did you do a make over on your sister’s hair, Hanako?”
“Yes! Isn’t she pretty like this?” Your sister asked proudly.
“Yes. The prettiest in the area.” Your uncle said, chuckling lightly at the small girl’s behavior.
“It doesn’t make much of a difference.” Takeo said, rubbing his ear.
“What do you mean?” Hanako asked, pouting.
“I mean, even back at the village, (Y/N) has always been the prettiest. She has even received marriage proposals.” He said, patting your sisters head. “So, it doesn’t change much.”
“Well, well. It seems that my dear niece is actually pretty popular among the opposite sex. Should I worry about it?” Hantengu asked, as if in deep thought, but with a mischievous smile on his lips.
“Uncle!” You called him on it, but he just laughed.
“There. There. Don’t take it too seriously.” He said while chuckling. “I know I don’t have to worry about it. You’re so focused on your family that the boy would actually have to be a god to get your attention.” You blushed at his words, making him laugh louder.
“Anyway, what are you two doing?” You asked them, trying to quickly change the subject from your non-existent love life.
“We're making a box to carry brother and sister.” Takeo said.
“Carry them?” You asked him, confused.
“I believe that once you find a cure for, you'll want to give it to them as soon as possible, won't you? It will be faster if they are with you.” Hantengu said, adjusting the box. “Besides, your siblings can be of help. Demons are strong on their own, and I believe Tanjiro and Nezuko want to help you on their own way too. You've been working hard for them these past two years, right? They want to pay you back.”
His words leave you silent as you turn to the house, where you knew Tanjiro and Nezuko were.
“How do you know that?” You ask him.
“Well... Tanjiro read the journals you made while you were asleep, and he cried. Then, he spent the next two days pulling my sleeve as if trying to ask me something, but he couldn't speak.” He said, scratching the back of his head. “I just assumed it was it, but I guess I was right, since he was happy when I told him what I would do.”
“I see.” You whispered, then turned to him. “Thanks, uncle. I don't know what I would have done without you.” You smiled to him as you said so.
“You're welcome, (Y/N).” He says, looking at you, before his eyes go wide and he tiltes his head to look at something behind you.
You notice this, prompting you to turn around and see what he was looking at, with Hanako and Takeo doing the same. There was a person coming in the direction of the house, using an ajirogasa (japanese straw hat) over their head, a long, black cape with crossing white lines, black pants and boots and really big something wrapped in a cloth on their back. You couldn't tell much about them, except that they looked short, certainly shorter than you, but taller than Tanjiro, considering that your brother hasn't grown at all in these two years.
“Hey, Hanako.” Your uncle called, getting the attention of all of you. “Would you mind making some tea? For our guest?” He asked, standing up, to which your sister just nodded, rushing to the house. “Takeo, could you help her?” Your brother also nodded, following her soon behind.
“A guest, uncle?” You asked as he walked to your side.
“Yes. Today is the day your sword arrives.” He told you, before looking at the arriving person. “Although, I didn't expect for it to be him.”
Him? Was this person someone your uncle knew?
You looked at the person who stopped a couple meters away from you two. Silence settled between the three of you
“Long time no see, Zohakuten. It's been what? Five years without even a letter?” Your uncle was the first to talk. His tone was light, but you could sense his body tense and his racing heartbeat. The silence remains, so your uncle continues. “You sure have grown in this time. How's your grandfather? The same nagging old man I knew?”
The silence remains for some time, but none of you speak a word. The tension in the air was so dense that you could cut it with a blind knife.
“It's really been really a long time, father.” The person, Zohakuten, said taking off his hat. The voice is deep, but when you see the face, you realize is a young boy, around the age of your brother. Looking at him, you could see the resemblance between him, your uncle and your auntie. He had your uncle's tan skin and firm expression, especially his glare, but he had your auntie's eyes, like all of his brothers (you knew that Karaku and Urogi had the same eyes as Sekido and Aizetsu cause you saw their picture from when they were younger). His eyes were golden, like Urogi's. He also had a pair of purple string-like earrings. “You look better than I thought you'd be.”
“I can't really blame you. I definitely wasn't on my best shape when we last spoke.” Your uncle said, with a sorrowful shine in his eyes. “From what I see, you certainly been doing well. I can assume you became a fully fledged swordsmith?
Zohakuten nodded before turning to face you. You couldn't help but flinch under his gaze. Should a child have such an intense glare?
“I didn't know Aizetsu had taken in a bride.” Zohakuten said, crossing his arms.
A bride? You?! What on earth was going on on this kid's mind?!
Your uncle didn't hold back at his laughter at your flustered face.
“She's not Aizetsu's bride. You should know your brother is too busy nowadays. He has no time to think about love, much less take in a bride for himself.” Your uncle said chuckling, before putting a hand on his chin. “Although, I wouldn't complain if she would become my daughter-in-law either."
“UNCLE!” You practically screamed at him, your face burning red while he laughed joyfully.
“If you're not Aizetsu's bride, then who are you?” Zohakuten asked, his arms still crossed.
“My name is (Y/N) Kamado. I'm uncle's, Mr. Hantengu's apprentice.” You tell him, calming yourself, with your cheeks still a little bit red.
“Ah!” He said, widening his eyes slightly. “Then, you're the one I'm looking for.” He said, reaching up to the thing he had wrapped on his back. “I've come a long way to deliver you this.” He said as he crouched, unwrapping a clothes box.
“Wa-Wait a moment. Your bag is going to get mud on it this way.” You told him, holding him by the shoulders.
“She's right, son.” Your uncle said, calming down his laughter, before pointing at the house. “Let's come inside first. I'm pretty sure the tea is ready by now.”
Zohakuten said nothing, just nodding and standing up, but carrying his bag on his arms. You motioned to offer carrying it for him, but he just took a step away from you, and continued his walk.
Okay, then.
The three of you made your way to the house. When you entered, you saw Hanako pouring some tea, with Shigeru by her side and Takeo by the door. Tanjiro and Nezuko were there too, hidden under thick covers to protect themselves from the sun, and Rokuta also hidden between the two of them. Zohakuten stopped by the door, eyeing them.
“Are you taking new students now, father?” He asked.
“No. Just (Y/N), since your brother asked me. These are her younger siblings.” Your uncle explains as he sits.
“Very well then.” He said, before going to sit by his father's side, finishing unwrapping his bag.
You sit in front of the two of them, your brothers and sister gathering around you. You all watched in silence as he brought out a really long sword, which made your siblings gasp.
“A real sword!” Shigeru exclaimed, his eyes shining.
“Isn't it too long, though?” Takeo asked, eyeing Zohakuten. “On the wandering theaters, the actors' katanas seemed shorter.”
“This is no regular katana. It's a nodachi. Basically, a katana with a long blade.” He explained. “Usually, we make normal katanas, but your sister seems to have no trouble using a longer blade. It should even be better for her.” Then, he turned to you. “Quickly, unsheathe it. I want to see which color it will change to.”
“It can change colors?!” Your siblings cried at the same time, fixing on their gaze on the weapon.
“That's a trait from the nichirin blades.” Hantengu said, chuckling at your siblings reaction.
“It doesn't happen always. If the slayer isn't strong enough, then it won't change.” Zohakuten said, looking at you. “What are you waiting for?”
You nod and look at the sword. Yours was pretty long, almost as long as you were tall, just a dozen centimeters less or so. You also noticed how it didn't have a guard, like your uncle's. You sigh, standing up and unsheathing it. You look at the blade, which had a pretty normal iron color, like the one from your handaxe, however, as you held the handle, you notice how the color began to change, from a normal metal color to a dark shade.
“For real?!”
“It really changed!”
“So cool!”
“Wow!”
Your siblings reacted, watching the blade change color in your hands.
“Is it black?” You uncle asked, taking a closer look.
“No. It's dark purple.” You said, laying it on your lap. You hear a distressed sigh and look at Zohakuten. “Is... Something the matter?”
“I just thought I would see a bright crimson colored blade this time around. What pain...” He said, crossing his arms.
“It seems your grandfather's obsession has rubbed off on you. But now that I think about it, your mother always spoke about a red nichirin. It must be a family thing.” Hantengu said, sighing. “But this isn't your only assignment, right? You'll have plenty of chances of seeing one.”
“Actually, she's my first one. I've just been approved as a swordsmith, and she was assigned to me since she was your student and I was your son.” He said, resting his chin on his hand.
“Then, look at the bright side, Zohakuten. You'll meet a lot of slayers and make them swords.” You tell him, before looking at the blade. You didn't understand much about katanas and blacksmithing, but you could tell that he put a lot of effort to do this blade. “I'll make sure to take good care of this one.”
“You better do so.” He said, while growling lowly. “I'll kill you if you break it.”
Did... Did you hear him right? He'll kill you if you break his sword?
It must be a joke, but he was glaring at you and his tone made him sound like Sekido.
Scary...
“Caw! Caw! Cawmado (Y/N)!” You are dragged out of your thoughts by (C/N), who entered flying and stopped by your side. “Hurry up and go to the northwest town! Caw! Go and kill demons there! This is your first assignment! Caw!”
“Whaaaaaa!”
“That crow-!”
“It talked!”
“Wow! Birdie!”
Your siblings are shocked by the arrival of (C/N), with only Rokuta amazed by it. You, your uncle and Zohakuten just stared at them.
“Remember this, Kamado (Y/N)! Remember well!” The crow continued, ignoring your siblings amazed eyes. “In the northwest town, there are girls are disappearing every night! Every night, there are girls, young girls, constantly disappearing!”
Tumblr media
You step out of your room, wearing your slayer uniform. As all others, according to your uncle, yours was black with your rank written on the back, but you used trousers instead of skirt and a pair of boots, which you would wear when leaving the house. They were very comfortable. You were wearing a (F/C) haori that had the same pattern of your favorite kimono, which you’ve been using ever since you could remember. Hanako had prepared one for you to use once you returned, using a couple of money she saved from helping around the nearby village. You can’t help, but smile at her care.
“So, what do you think?” You ask your family, that was looking straight at you.
“You look amazing, sis!” Hanako and Shigeru said, with sparkles in their eyes.
“Pretty.” Rokuta said, clapping his hands.
“You could easily pass by as one of those government office agents we saw in the village back then.” Takeo said with his arms crossed.
“Big brother!” Hanako cried, glaring at him, while Shigeru chuckled.
“What? It’s true!”
“As good as I expected you to be.” Your uncle said, before motioning you to get closer to him, while your brother and sister fought among themselves. “There’s a couple of things I need to tell you. Just the normal protocol.” He said, and you nodded, looking intensely at him. “The fabric of which your uniform is made of is very breathable, but repels moisture and won’t burn as easily, and also is able to resist to attacks of weaker onis, so it won’t tear easily.” He says, before pointing at your blade. “As Zohakuten said, the nichirin blade changes color, but it depends on the user which color it will be, and each one has different proprieties. Yours seem a mix of black and purple. You told me that you made your breathing based on mine and a dance that your family performed, right?”
“Yes. I couldn’t learn yours, but there were a couple things I understood, so I applied it to combine with my family’s dance.” You tell him.
“Usually, the breathing are passed down as traditional dances when there are no heirs to the technique, so the one from your family must be a long forgotten breathing that found no heir to it. A long time must have passed and this knowledge was lost to your family.” Hantengu explained. “That would explain how you forced Aizetsu to defend himself more than it would usually be necessary, how you could blend it with mine to make your own breathing. And also the color.”
“The color?” You repeated, confused.
“Yes. Usually, the color of the nichirin is a reflection of the breathing. The oldest breathing techniques are Flames, Stone, Wind, Water and Thunder, and they have their respective color, those being reddish-orange, gray, green, blue and yellow. The other colors are usually derivations of those five, which reflects a breathing being derived of these five oldest breathing techniques.” He said before picking up his own sword. “The breathing I was taught was Water Breathing, but my blade turned purple since I couldn’t exactly perform it and changed it to make it suit my style. This happens all the time, and you and I aren’t rare. However, black nichirins are rare and their wielders don’t usually live long, so their proprieties are unknown.” Then, he looks at your blade. “Yours was so dark that I mistook it for black, until you said it was just a really dark purple.”
“Where are you trying to get, uncle?” You ask him, touching lightly your sword.
“Perhaps your family’s dance is one of the oldest breathings, since the color is completely different form the others.” He said, putting his sword away. “I believe your blade was supposed to be black, but since you mixed it with mine, which is mostly based on the Water Breathing, it turned a bit purple.” He sighed, before looking at you. “Well, at least that’s my theory. In any case, be careful with it.” He said, looking you in the eyes, the same way he looked at you when he told you his reasons for not wanting you to take part in the Final Selection. Like back then, you smile and nod at him.
“Yes. I’ll take extra care, uncle.” You tell him, melting his worried gaze. “Is there something more?”
“Just two more.” He said, before going to pick up the box he was making with Takeo. “This box was made with a light wood, but it’s extremely sturdy. Despite that, I made sure to reinforce it with rock lacquer, just to be sure.”
“I see.” You tell him, before picking the box up yourself, and you’re surprised with how little strength you use to lift it up. “Amazing, uncle! This is really light!” You tell him, sounding like a child on their birthday party. You also turn to Takeo, who was watching you two talk. “You also did a good job, Takeo. I’m proud of you.”
Your brother smiles, puffing his chest, with a slight blush on his cheeks. You smile at him, before going to your hidden siblings.
“Nezuko. Tanjiro. Could get inside here, please?” You ask them. You watch them hesitate at first, approaching the box before retreating, but they soon enough enter the box, which is spacious enough to have the two of them there side by side. You look at them with a smile. “Nezuko. Tanjiro. From now own, we’ll be always together. We’re gonna have to be a bit away from the others, but once this is over, we’ll all be together at home, with mother and father, okay?” They nod at you, as you close the box door.
“It’s just my theory, but I believe that your brothers are replenishing their energy through sleep, instead of going for humans.” Your uncle said, getting your attention, but he was looking straight at the box. “This may become handy in case you meet one of the higher ups in the Demon Corps, but still, you must pay attention so they won’t get killed by accident.” He turns to you, his eyes meeting yours before you close them, nodding. “Now, it’s time for you to go.”
Tumblr media
So explaining myself about the joke of reader being Aizetsu's wife: there was this reader of the series that reblogged one of the chapters and on the tags told Hantengu that they would be a good daughter-in-law. I found it funny and while writing this chapter, I remembered that joke, and seeing as the original Aizetsu and Zohakuten were delusional about things, I thought it would be a funny "misunderstanding", so it came out this way. Either way, I hoped you enjoyed it, and thank @hesvelg for the idea.

some anime or manga recs? please?
!! sure thing! it kinda depends what you're looking for but here's a few favorites of mine!! I’m gonna assume since my account is practically just talentless nana you’ve already read/watched it, but if you haven’t that’s definitely my biggest recommendation!
if ur looking for smth sad!!
princess tutu (anime) - a magical girl story about a duck who becomes a human girl and then a magical girl. she's trying to bring back pieces of her emotionless crushes heart, which seems innocent enough, but the story turns into a desperate attempt to find a happy ending in a world literally created to prevent one. it's really sad and cute and a big favorite of mine, and the end of it had me bawling 😭
land of the lustrous (manga) - a story about a gem-person named phos who lives in a world where their kind is at risk of being shattered and turned into jewelry by another species called the lunarians. it takes a while before the series really takes a dark term, but once it happens it really happens. reading it invoked a sense of dread in me nothing else has ever given me, and I really can't stress enough how good and depressing this manga is 😭 I suggest u watch the anime first and then read the manga! anime leaves off at around chapter 30 i think. this also had me bawling when I caught up to it. on call, with my friend 😭 very embarrassing
madoka magica - this one’s really popular so I think you’ve already heard of it, but it puts a spin on the usual magical girl trope, making it dark and depressing. they’re making a new movie, so if you haven’t watched it, this is a great time to get into it! it’s also very gay. MSJDKDJ it’s really good and sad and the characters are all incredible. there’s lots of hidden symbolism and meaning, and lots of foreshadow, so even rewatching it you’ll always find something new to enjoy <3
toilet bound hanako kun - this one’s also really popular so you’ve probably also already heard of it, but if you haven’t: the show follows a girl named nene yashiro, a hopeless romantic with a crush on a boy. she hears a rumor about a ghost named hanako, who grants wishes, and follows the steps to summon him. some things happen, and she ends up taking a job as his assistant, helping him to defeat magical apparitions in order to keep the school safe. it sounds simple, but it actually gets really, really sad and the story is really good </3 I’m not sure what they could possibly do for an ending on this one that would be 100% happy. it’s good! i really suggest it.
the promised neverland - season one of the anime is incredible, from there I’d say you should swap to the manga bc s2 does an awful job covering it. It’s a story about orphan kids who find out the orphanage they’ve been living at is actually a farm to make smart human kids to feed to monstrous demons. the manga goes downhill a little at the end, but it’s still a pretty nice read and it’s really, really good for a while
magia record - a spin-off anime to Madoka magica, set in an alternate universe. this one’s very sad too, and introduces a lot of new characters, while bringing back the old, iconic ones from the original pmmm. it’s based on a game, and the anime ending differs from the games </333 the ending for the game is actually happy though and the anime is,,sadder but still nicer than pmmm. i think this one is a good one if you like sad content, but still want to see the characters happy in the end. and all the original Madoka magica cast live! so!!!
school live - I REALLY DONT WANT TO SAY WHAT THIS ONES ABT BC LIKE the twist at the end is so good so it’s better to just go in blind but this anime is really really good and very very sad, but the ending is hopeful!! so!!! the manga is pretty good too, and it’s completed, but I feel like the anime is a lot more enjoyable
if ur looking for smth a little happier !!
zombieland saga - a story about 7 zombie girls from different eras trying to form an idol group! it’s so well written and so nice to watch, it can be really, really sad or really, really funny 😭 it’s a great anime and all the characters in it are very lovable <3 it also has a canon trans girl! as one of the main zombie girls! so it’s very neat. It’s one of my all time favorite animes and it’s a lot of fun
bocchi the rock! - an anime about an introverted girl with social anxiety who wants to start a band, but doesn’t know how to talk to people. it’s super funny and super sweet, and at least in my case really relatable <3 the show does all kinds of really neat things, switching to stop motion, 3d, live action, etc, and the characters are all great. it’s a really creative show and it handles social anxiety in a much more realistic and relatable way than most other shows like this do.
spy x family - a very cute and funny manga/anime about a spy named loid who needs to make a fake family in order to complete his new mission of investigating a very prestigious school. he adopts a girl, named Anya, and gains a fake wife named yor. but apparently anya has the ability to read minds, and yor is secretly an assassin. nobody knows each other’s secret identities, except for anya, who knows bc she can read their minds, and they continue to live together for different reasons, as they slowly grow attached to each other and become a real family
brand new animal - a studio trigger anime about an anthropomorphic tanuki girl, called a beastman, named michiru, who used to be human. she moves into a town consisted exclusively with beastman, and tries to discover just what happened to her to become one, and where her best friend who went missing is </3 this one isn’t a slice of life, it’s more of an action show ?? but it’s really good, the animation is lovely and the art and colors are really pretty and cute <3 it’s a really good anime and it’s only 12 episodes, so it’s a quick watch!!

The Fiery Exorcist of Kamone Academy
𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫(𝐬): Hanako | Yugi Amane, Yashiro Nene, and Minamoto Kou × Reader
𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫: Gender-Neutral (you/your & they/them)
𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞: Fluff / First-Meetings
🔶 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐬𝐢𝐬: You are a student at Kamome Academy, and your not like the average student that walks the halls: your an Exorcist that can use the power of Fire. The Hanako-Trio get to know you a bit better!
Tumblr media
Writer's Notes: I am trying to make each of these unique and different, so some might be a while so I can make separate scenarios!
Tumblr media
> 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗸𝗼-𝗸𝘂𝗻 | 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲
It's quite hard not to know your an exorcist with the boiling power of fire below your skin, and Hanako is not in the right place to deal with fire-wielding exorcist while the electric-wielding Minamoto's were around. He's not ready for a firework laiden stairway to Heaven, he'll stick to his bathroom.
Unless, like your powers, your introduction is as fiery as he expected and you find him first. Trouble follows his assistants everywhere, even to his second-floor girl's bathroom.
Nene points you out for him, and Nene is a decently popular girl, so you notice her as well. And if Hanako wasn't dead cold as a ghost, he's sure your eyes would have burnt him alive if he was human! … Wait, you'd not glare at him if he was human…
If you're an active exorcist, he's heard of your work around the school (or just of your feats) and actually feels a bit "useless" in trying to stop you, and Yako laughs joyfully as he sulks.
Eventually, if you don't run into a School Mystery already and end up declaring to take their soul: he'll still be the first you'll have to get through. He can't have anybody killing anybody, you see. It'll upset the balance on both sides, and he doesn't want police or demons roaming around.
His first meeting with you, is saving your skin when you got in-over your head during a rumor change―and this made his ego inflate, naturally!
Of course, Nene's classmate and a student at his school should be under his protection: just leave it to him! The fire damage to the spirit does impress him, but his slice to cut open its brain was much cooler.
He looks back to you and kneels next to you, and pokes at the blooming bruise on your face from where you were slammed and sent flying. He adores the little flinch you make, and so he pinches the bruise―consequences be damned!
"Aw, the little firecracker here got hurt from meddling in school affairs. Leave this to the School Wonders…" He teased as you swiped him away to get him off. "Or keep going! You look so nice on the floor, maybe I can save you again! Yashiro says humans love their saviors… !"
> 𝗬𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗼 𝗡𝗲𝗻𝗲
Nene took one glance at you and your strong, sullen expressions: and sorta kept her distance from you at first. Depending on which one would like you more between Ao-chan or Kou-kun, Nene might give you a chance (and if neither could say anything, expect Nene to keep her distance unless you're her type).
She knew you must be special as well, you radiated some sort of underlying warmth that didn't exactly carry to your eyes: it just surrounded you. In Spring and Summer, students around you undid a button or two from behind near you.
If you're in any clubs, Nene will take note (so she can have a topic to talk to you about), and point you out to mokke to follow for a bit! She wants… to try being your friend!
But the mokke all looked frightened, shook like leaves in the wind, and scattered with tears in their eyes. Yashiro watches in distress as they leave, and goes to ask about you from Hanako―because the mokke don't just run away from anybody like that except for…
And likewise with the mokke, Hanako seemed to have a negative reaction because of who you were. Hanako got depressed looking at you and explaining what you do, and Nene was shocked! Another exorcist, and one just so casually out there?!
… She kinda expected another Kou, but then backed off that idea as she witnessed your intense glare at Hanako when you noticed she was pointing at you. Yikes! She can't tell if you're angry at her or just Hanako… !
She sorta kept her distance from you when wanting to interact with Hanako, as just the mention of you sends Hanako into a depressive spiral. Oh well, at least Kou likes you and will talk about you if Nene gets on that path of conversation.
After the fight in the hallway, Nene would willingly push Hanako out of the way to dab your cheek in a wet cloth to help you!
"Hanako, leave them alone, they got here first…! I'm sorry about him, don't mind his mean words." She apologizes, and she obviously thinks highly of you after saving the school. "And take my heartfelt thanks! Thank you!"
> 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗼𝘂
Knew about it first, most likely. If not him, Teru then. But if Teru knows, we know he's going to gossip to Kou so Kou can subtly know about you…
Kou is not really subtle. He's staring at you from across hallways and school meetings, trying to catch up to you if you share a gym class/sports club, and he's following you at odd times of the day with questions and wonder in his eyes. If you're non-confrontational, he'll just continue to do so (but will comply if you do tell him off).
Teru laughs at your luck at having Kou follow you but does tell you he's not going to do anything, so do worry (or try anything against him, Teru threatens). If you work with the Minamoto clan: Kou will get braver and might talk to you. If not: he'll stick to watching, because your gaze is effective at keeping people back.
But obviously, that will not stop until a certain rumor change causes a scene on campus and you're the first on the scene. Your fire starts to accumulate within your weapon/palms, and the fight begins before Kou can catch up to you!
Kou over-steps his boundaries and joins the fight with a spark and slash of his staff while you're using your magic, and creates an explosion of the two spells before it can hit the monster. The air cracks with heat and energy, blinding you both for a small second―but that's all the spirit needs to strike out and hit someone, and hard.
From the smoke, an appendage shoots forward and strikes you in the face with enough force to shoot you down the whole hallway. Kou flinched, even as you sat up to gain purchase again, and called back at you to apologize… turning his back to the supernatural long enough you almost shouted at him to pay attention.
If not for Honorable Number 7 coming in to kill the supernatural in one swipe and ruin your already declining mood: which Kou stopped! He caused this and that pesky toilet-pervert shouldn't go poking your battle scars (a.k.a. bruise).
"L-leave them alone! I caused this, they could have handled this alone!" It hurt to admit, but he's nothing if not honest to a fault. "I'm so sorry for him, and I'm sorry for not understanding how our magic would work together… can we start over?"

Chicago Fire/Hawkami/Jimmy Nicholas
Who else is already twiddling their thumbs this hiatus?  Also, are you living off the small morsels of social media the cast is giving us (thank you, Daniel Kyri on Instagram, you are generous).  Have you been listening to Jimmy Nicholas’s podcast “Everything But The Kitchen Sink?”  I watch so few movies, and I’ve never watched one “Fast and Furious” movie, but I have enjoyed Jimmy and Kyle talk about them with such passion.  It’s fun listening to people who care about (sometimes small) things get worked up.  Especially good friends.  The Sinkies are great too.  I can’t listen to the basketball stuff.  There I draw the line.  However, I hope there are more podcasts in the works!  We need an EBTKS Chicago Fire episode featuring Hanako!
I am feeling optimistic about Hawkami for a few reasons.
1) Everyone thought the writers were going to mess up Hawakmi LONG AGO.  But they didn’t.  They kept moving Hawkami forward, and even though it got very complicated, they capitalized on the popularity and didn’t pull the rug out from under us.  They understand that Hawakmi has fans, energy, and momentum.  Andrea Newman said in an interview that the writers love writing them.  They found a new muse, and its unlike to go away.
2) At the time of the finale, Jimmy would likely not have signed a contract for Season 11.  So the producers and writers do not have a guarantee that Jimmy would be back next season (also, Derek Haas says they don’t think that far ahead anyway when it comes to resolving finales). The finale has to leave the door open for Hawkins to be out of the picture in a reasonable story line, in case Jimmy does not come back.  Hence the frustrating ending to the finale.  It seemed strange that Violet would be mad at Hawkins and not talk about it with him, and that she would look at Gallo a certain way.  But it can all be corrected in a matter of minutes.  I don’t see a time jump happening in the premiere of Season 11 (because of that Stellaride end scene).  So we could arrive right back to the night of the wedding and have things restored in the premiere (hopefully in a sweepingly romantic way).
3) Jimmy Nicholas, bless his heart, is still giving Chicago Fire (cast, etc.) love on social media.  If he was done with it, he likely wouldn’t do that.  His birthday celebration featured firefighter gear and “I heart Evan Hawkins” t-shirts worn by friends.  I think he is sticking around.  When it came to Hanako, she wasn’t announced as a series regular until late June.  If we get into July with no news, then maybe Jimmy stays a guest star in Season 11 (back and forth to NY, which is maybe what he wants), but I think we still get him back as much as we had him in Season 10.  (Also, anyone else out there loving Jimmy?  I hesitate getting to know actors, because you usually learn things you don’t like about them, but this Jimmy guy keeps winning in my book.  He seems so genuine.  He caught a great break with Chicago Fire, and its hard not to root for him.  Sometimes he seems like a golden retriever on speed, but that’s still adorable too).
4) As much as I love Jimmy, the real story of Season 10 was how Violet blossomed as a character, and how well Hanako carried these big storylines.  Jimmy owes much of his success to Hanako.  It was her story we were told this past season (we don’t know much about Hawkins at all, which means there are more stories to be told as we find out his backstory and all the reasons those two kids feel in love).  Unlike a typical slow burn “will they/won’t they,” Hawakami is “they will/they are” and here’s how.  Let’s all go on the journey together.  I’m in.
In a few months we’ll get the dynamic duo of Sylvie Brett and Violet Mikami back, which is awesome.  Sprinkle in some Hawkami, and as the kids say (frequently, Jimmy too), LET’S GOOOOOO!

Any anime reccs?
sir, you have could not have asked a more godly question.
well, for starters, it really depends on what genre you’re into. i won’t recommend any really obvious series (like demon slayer or my hero academia as those are popular for a reason :D), but here’s some of my personal favorites:
action
eighty-six (86) is by far one of my favorite shows in this category. the animation is incredible, but man it is so under appreciated. if you like bits of action here and there but also with a story that touches your heart every time, I highly recommend this anime. basically, it’s kind of like a take on discrimination that we have in the world today, but instead the ones who discriminate are called Alba (who have distinct silver-white hair), and the ones that they look down on have all sorts of different hair colors based on their bloodline. they are nicknamed the “Eighty-Six”, and they are sent off to fight against the Legion, who are these automated drones and fight to survive, as they have no choice. the war against these robots has been going on for years, but for the country of San Mongolia, they’ve had zero casualties, as the Eighty-Six are not counted as real people. it’s a really interesting story set in the future, and there’s a lot to love about it!
trailer
toilet-bound hanako kun is a show that may sound strange at first, but it is explained within minutes of watching. personally, i prefer the manga (the art style is INCREDIBLE), however, the show still covers the story with impeccable detail. the anime follows this girl named yashiro nene, who is in her first year of high school and wants her crush to notice her. however, in this school, there is something called “the seven wonders”, each being these ghosts or creatures with different abilities and realms. nene goes to the girls bathroom, which is said to house hanako san, who can grant any wish at a price. but to nene’s surprise, the ghost she finds is a boy with a terribly chaotic personality. the dynamic between each character in the story is what makes the show so much fun to watch, and it’s what prompted me to start hoarding the manga. there’s only one season so far, however, but depending on how much content you’re looking for, it could be a good thing. this anime is so much fun, and it leaves viewers wanting more after each episode!
trailer
romance
komi can’t communicate is an incredible anime, I’d be shocked if you’ve never heard of it. it follows a girl named komi shouko, who has a communication disorder which limits her ability to talk around people, even her own family. it’s her first day of high school, and she is almost instantly loved her her stunning looks and cool attitude. everyone praises her as a goddess! only….komi doesn’t want to be seen as someone that’s too holy to approach, but…to make one hundred friends. but obviously, no one knows this, until tadano hitohito, the most normal and average teenager their could be, works up the courage to talk to his classmate, and uncovers the truth. this show is so wholesome, and it follows the heartwarming journey of this girl who just wants to make friends and have fun in school for the first time.
trailer
there are a ton of other shows i’ve watched, but these are a select three that i really enjoyed, so check them out if you haven’t already! hope this helps fulfill your anime needs 😌

What do you think about Aoi and Nene’s friendship?
If you could allow me to be a little crass, my Hanako brain leads me to regard the situation in a kind of indifferent manner. 'Good for them. They are friends (in that way girls can be)... *doesn't have more to add*' ... if that makes sense? Lol. I don't think it's nothing, because they get along well enough. Nene genuinely worries for Aoi when things go awry at the school, and I think Aoi herself worries about Nene when she's mysteriously running off or talking to herself. (I love whenever she's distressed and going 'Nene-chan...!? Q.Q' ww) So there's that... but I also am aware that there's a limit to how well they know one another. There's a barrier, keeping them from getting closer.
The crux of Aoi's issues that we end up tackling through Akane, is that she doesn't trust anyone with her 'real self'. She's not the picturesque, sweet model student she appears to be, but actually is prideful, resentful, and looks down on others. She feels like everyone is lying to her, so she has her own front, refusing to let anyone inside. This means that Nene is, effectively, being withheld more closeness from Aoi. Nene remains on the 'outside', along with other people. Aoi creates this separation in her mind.
When discussing their relationship with my wife, she's astutely pointed out that, one could almost assume that Nene is a 'safe' friend, since she's typically quite naive. You can keep Nene-chan in the dark... as much as Hanako gets away with lying to her repeatedly. So there's no risk in being friends with Nene. The fact that Nene doesn't have any other friends, and isn't popular, also probably makes her appealing to Aoi, who doesn't care for any of that. Perhaps Nene also seems so earnest, that Aoi cannot feel threatened by the idea of Nene learning about her nature... You just know Nene doesn't have ulterior motives; she's not trying to 'get' anything out of this. We can just be two girlies together.
I figure that's always just been 'enough' for both of them, though, and they don't ache or yearn for more out of the other especially? They can compliment each other, be in the gardening club together, give relationship advice, etc. It all feels like a humble amount of providing support/company for one another.
This is pretty mundane though… Friendships at this age are often only so 'deep'; what are your friends at age 15 aside from someone who is friendly that you share a hobby or two with?
Tumblr media
According to the Nene's book in the bookstacks, she met Aoi in middle school. This would be their 3rd year of being friends, I believe. Which makes sense to me, given this level of closeness.
More recently, after all the events of Obon/the Severance, it seems that Aoi coming to terms with the distance between her and Nene. It must finally be so pervasive, it's hard to swallow. Unable to be ignored or skirted by.
Tumblr media
This moment is quite sad to me. Aoi has to realize that Nene interpreted all that she saw as, NOT the real/normal Aoi. Because Aoi hasn't ever let her access that side of her.
Tumblr media
Feels like it's painful for Aoi to process that... and she currently can't bring herself to unveil the truth to Nene, yet. It's the result of all her actions though, so we can't feel toooo too bad for her, but still. Interesting at the very least. Ultimately, this just leaves her closeness with Akane, exclusively. I think romances are just the highest echelon of closeness in this manga, so the most intimate things are reserved for our couples.
So yeah... I like Nene and Aoi both, and their friendship is a fine one, though I can't say it's very touching/moving either. I'm at most curious if Nene becoming steadily more perceptive as a person, will mean that she comes to understand Aoi's issues on her own, orrr... if that'll just be something they never quite bridge, I wonder? Who knows..

Wikipedia, the Free Online Encyclopedia- | Chris | Trial 5.2 | Re: Akira, Rafe, Sorano, Willow mainly | ATTN: NPCs, All
Chris listens with his head tilted to the side at Akira’s answer in thought. There still had to be something they were missing there, some rule that hadn’t been made clear to them or BS that would be pulled, but it was a start at least.
“Thanks for the answers, though it leads me to have some more questions too. First, will it be ONLY the six of us who are voting on this, or will the audience have some say as well?” Given uh, the gimmick of this season and all, that seemed pretty important to know if they’d have to deal with it or not.
“And next, what were the grand prizes of those who died, then? What was Yuuma’s grand prize in particular, too? Seems pretty important to know, since it probably SHOULD be going into effect but they’re actively trying to keep it from happening with Ayumi’s situation, or at least that’s how it’s being made out to be. Feels like something we should be told.”
And then, Chris gives a nod of agreement to essentially every other player but Rafe, and for reasons more than him just being Rafe. In particular, he looks at Sorano and surprisingly(?) Willow in agreement most recently for the details they’re bringing up. Good, seemed like the rest of them at least were on the same page here.
Tumblr media
“Exactly. Finding the ‘mastermind’ among us isn't the issue here, and is frankly a waste of time given everything we know, so I recommend not bothering with it for now. I think the audience would be much more interested in us going over everything else behind the scenes with the board instead,” he clarifies, because yeah, he’s only going to double down on that opening recommendation.
“To finish off what knowledge I had from around the maps before this investigation though, the names of all five board members were among all of the names listed on the tiles of the Theme Park in chapter 3, and in chapter 4 there was a large tapestry depiction in the Museum about a king and his crown being divided among five people that then kept the power for themself, obviously alluding to the TE board members hanging onto their power and pushing their own agendas despite Tomo being an adult now.”
He takes out his personal notebook almost lazily before continuing, idly flipping through to cross reference between a few things.
Tumblr media
"The names and occupations given in Chapter 5's Dressing Room puzzle were at times suspiciously similar to the Board member's themselves, so I'm pretty sure that was something too. In particular, Nobuo Ozaki is the COO of Kimi Health and Housing, which is actually a Yakuza front, where as 'Nagito' was a Yakuza Boss in the puzzle. Sadao Hashimoto is in control of the TE legal team and is obviously corrupt as fuck and lets them get away with all kinds of shit, while 'Sadou' is a Corrupt Lawyer in the puzzle.
Yataro I would assume would be the Affair Partner 'Hatoru'. I don't want to make assumptions, but apparently he's close with Tomo's mom Yumi Tomomi given it seems as though she trusts him enough to let her into Tomo's home, and he's had public suspicions on his relationship with Tatsuo Tomomi himself too. Whatever the case and romantic or not, he’s playing people.
Hideo Muramoto by the way was the asshole who told Akira to 'give her what she wants' in that one memory of his we saw, and was also involved heavily with the kaiju genre of film production, obviously being referenced by 'Orochi' the Kaiju in the puzzle. That would leave Hanako Tamashiro as the Brothel Owner 'Yuriko', which honestly doesn't surprise me.”
Dear GOD Chris has so much information on these fuckers, and it's finally the time to get it all out there.
He also gives a wave back to Sorano at that kidnapping from other countries comment, who is now sitting right beside him. Hello indeed.
Tumblr media
“Given you all seem to have found the same information that we did, I’d like to clarify some of it. Specifically, in regard to what the TE Board and Tatsuo did to Hirohito Watanabe because he was gaining popularity as a socialist politician. It was 8 years ago, and Tomo was apparently brought to watch this at 14 years old as a ‘lesson’ that he didn’t handle well. The board members planned to kidnap Hirohito’s child, Touma Watanabe, and hold them for ransom to make him drop out of things with the public excuse that it was random gang members who were doing it. Obviously, it was actually orchestrated by them in reality.
But, apparently, something went either went wrong or there was possibly a change of plans, because when Hirohito went to meet with them, he was shot, and murdered. Touma was also shot, but survived, and is still out there. Pretty fucking much in the end, it was a politcal assassination after a political kidnapping of a child, all done by Tatsuo Tomomi and the five board members still in control. I put a lot of that shit and the previous stuff together with the power of Wikipedia, by the way.”
All hail Wikipedia…

Hanako San in the toilet
Hanako San, also known as Ghost Doll Hanako and Toilet Hanako in Japan, is often seen in school toilets. She likes to wear a red dress and has a traditional student hairstyle.
She is often called out in a certain way, such as knocking on all the doors of the school toilet at midnight, and then calling Hanako softly, asking her if she is there, and inviting her to join her. Come out to play, if there is no one in the toilet at this time, someone in the third toilet will answer “Yes”, and then the door will slowly open. In addition, Hanako will also take the initiative to strike up a conversation with humans. She usually appears in the third toilet and asks the person next to her if she wants paper.
If the person agrees, she will be dragged into the toilet and drowned by Hanako after using it. It is said that the appearance of death is very scary.
WARNING
Don’t try it yourself, after all, curiosity will kill the cat.
The legend of Hanako began to appear around 1950, when it was called “Hanako of the Third Room“. It was only in 1980 that the story was widely spread under the name “Hanako in the toilet“, and it was basically a household name.
Since then, it has become a popular subject for many film and television animations. Whenever a child is disobedient or goes to the toilet obediently, adults will “punish” the child, saying that if you are disobedient, Hanako will be seen, and Hanako will also be used by teachers to scare children who are disobedient and do not hand in homework. A nightmare for Japanese children, which makes many children afraid to go to the toilet alone
Tumblr media
Hanako San Tragic Experience
Let’s talk about Hanako’s tragic story in detail.
The story took place around 1965. Hanako’s father worked in the field for many years. She and her mother lived in the village. Hanako went to the primary school in the village. One day in class, Hanako suddenly felt a stomachache and wanted to go to the toilet. After asking the teacher for instructions, she quickly ran out.
When she came out of the toilet, Hanako suddenly saw the head teacher smoking in the men’s room. In Japan at that time, it was forbidden for teachers to smoke in school. If they were seen or caught, they would be expelled and not hired for life.
Tumblr media
After that, every time Hanako met the head teacher at school, the head teacher would show her meaningful smile, which made people shudder. Hanako, who was still a child, was very scared. She was trembling every day. She didn’t dare to go to the toilet alone at school, because she was afraid of meeting the head teacher.
Hanako’s mother also discovered the abnormality of the child. Under her constant pressure, Hanako told her mother one by one. After hearing this, her mother was very angry, and she reported the incident to the school, which became known to everyone.
The head teacher was expelled because of this, and she would never be a teacher. Hanako thought that she would never see the head teacher again at school, and everything would return to calm, but she didn’t expect that this was just the beginning.
One evening, Hanako and a male classmate in the class made an appointment to go home together after finishing their duties. After leaving the classroom, Hanako suddenly wanted to use the toilet, so she asked the male classmate to wait for her, but the boy did not want to wait and left first
Tumblr media
The man started knocking on the door
from the first room, and he said, “Hanako, where are you, let’s play together…” Hanako heard it, it was the voice of the head teacher, she felt horrified, and the whole person was overwhelmed. Frightened, her body stiffened, and she could only hold his breath and stay silent. The head teacher who couldn’t get a response did not give up, and pushed open the doors one by one. Suddenly, the sound from outside disappeared. Just when Hanako was relieved, a voice came from above: “I found you!”
The next day, Hanako’s body was found in the toilet. No one wanted to investigate what kind of injury Hanako suffered during the time she was in the toilet.
Since then, the legend of Hanako has spread. Some people say that the reason why Hanako appeared in the toilets of various schools is to catch the teacher who killed her, and some people say that Hanako was tortured to death in the toilet. Deep, so she will stay in school all the time, she want to find someone to play with her, and then torture them, and take this kind of revenge for fun.
Since then, the legend of Hanako in the toilet has also derived different versions. For example, Hanako’s mother was a school teacher. When Hanako was looking for her mother, she was dragged into the toilet and brutally killed. It is also said that a beggar girl was often bullied by other girls. Once she was locked in the women’s toilet and suffered a heart attack. No matter how much she called for help, no one came to save her, and she finally died.
Well, this is the No. 1 story in Japanese urban legends. What do you think about it? Welcome to discuss in the comment area.

Spoilers:
I hope Aidalro knows what they're doing because that would be the best possible ending for the series. The only flaw in this timeline is that Amane isn't the same age as Yashiro.
The manga is about wishes, and it always shows us some very good endings for the series. The fake world of No. 4, Aoi sacrificed in place of Yashiro, and now, the butterfly effect. None of these endings are perfect, but they were better than the literal end of the world (which is what Sakura wants)!
I believe the series' end will be tragic. Simply because the characters aren't content with any of these endings. They're all trying to prevent Yashiro's death, but they're not willing to sacrifice anything for it.
Anyway! This chapter left me with many questions.
Is Tsukasa alive? If Amane became a teacher, Tsukasa was never murdered.
Why is Sousuke Mitsuba alive? Does that mean his death was really connected to the Red House? So, did "No. 3 Mitsuba" never exist?
Didn't Mei have a terminal illness? How is she alive!? How Tsukasa influenced in her death?
How are the Seven Mysteries? Tsuchigomori is still supernatural, and Akane is still a Clock Keeper. But who is the No. 4 and the No. 7 of the mysteries? Sakura? Natsuhiko? Does any of them remember who Hanako was?
I could keep going the whole day!
The big problem is that there will ALWAYS be someone who will sacrifice themselves. You understand?
There is always someone who needs to die for things to work, but no one wants to die, no one wants to lose who they love, and that's where the key is.
Will Amane be able to leave Tsukasa? That's why it all happened.
Will Nene be able to leave Amane?
Will Kou be able to leave Mitsuba?
Even in the perfect world of the PP arc, everyone was alive, but nothing was real, it was as if they were inside The Sims.
Talking and having fun with dolls was not ideal.
Nene would survive if Aoi was sacrificed and Hanako walked away, but it wasn't ideal.
And now, a world without Tsukasa, Aidairo wants to show us another possibility of something that is "not ideal"
As if he wanted to tell us all the time that the possibilities of a good ending without someone sacrificing themselves or something artificial happening are impossible.
"Look at all the possibilities I'm showing you, there's no way they can be happy"
Or, Aidairo will surprise us and show us the best possibility for the ending. But since she's a fan of bittersweet tragedies, I imagine it won't be something catastrophic, but it won't be happy, in the same bittersweet tone as usual.
She is showing us that if Tsukasa doesn't return, many people's lives will "return" or improve.
Mitsuba, Mei alive, Nene popular, hmmmmm interesting?
Could it really be Tsukasa's absence? Or is it a number 1 thing? "a good reality for Nene not to try to change things"
Same logic with the fish who wanted to take her to their world, saying it was a much better place than where she is now.
If Nene accepts this reality, everything will be in order. But we know she won't.
See, how would Tsukasa influence Nene's popularity? How would Tsukasa influence Kou to talk to Mitsuba alive?
It's not just about Tsukasa, it's about the clock keepers.
Despite this, I believe that Mitsuba and Mei's deaths are linked to Tsukasa. I've already mentioned Mitsuba's in other posts, since he had the photo of the red house, but Mei is still a mystery.
About the mysteries, Tsuchigomori is still there, he is a supernatural, why would he be at school for no reason? Hmm…. and the God still exists, but was it necessary to seal him?
hmmmm……..lots of questions
E obrigado por compartilhar o link comigo!!!! 🧡🧡🧡

Idk if you already made this but Hanako, Kou and mitsuba jealous Hcs with their girlfriend that is quite popular among the students pls? thank u!!
hanako x f!reader, kou minamoto x f!reader, mitsuba sousuke x f!reader
a/n: sure thing!! No worries, I haven’t made it yet :D you’re so very welcome, and thank you so much for requesting!! I love jealousy headcanons tho I don’t think I’ve ever written them? I hope these turn out alright, and I’m so sorry for the time this took!
warnings: jealousy?
word count: 1,936
Hanako <3
Oh boy- can I do anything but wish you luck?
Hanako is already a fairly clingy and jealous guy, that’s practically canon. He’ll stand between you when you’re talking to anyone, and I mean aaaaanyone. He just can’t risk losing you!
(It’s got a whole lot to do with his insecurities, of course- while he wouldn’t admit it, not wanting to drop his “ah? I’m just an innocent little boy, free of issues and perverted thoughts <3” attitude, he does struggle a lot. He’s a ghost, a murderer, and imperfect in more ways than those. You’re popular for a reason. You’re so pretty, so kind, so lovable- you’re alive, and probably have morals. What are you doing with a dead murderer?)
Wow, ANYWAY- we’re here for jealousy, not Hanako’s issues, though they will probably resurface shortly.
Seeing everyone around you… always wanting your attention, always complimenting you…
You deserved it! He thought all of those positive things and more-! But… at this point, so many people admiring you, why were you still with him?
Even if you explain to him constantly that you love him dearly, and wouldn’t leave him for anyone else, he still gets somewhat possessive. Eventually putting the “but why does (Y/N) still love me,,” aside, he just wants others to keep their hands off you :((
It’s no fault of yours, and he acknowledges that! But it’s the fault of others getting so close to you >:((
Though they can’t see him, when people go up to you, talking joyfully- he’s standing there, arms wrapped around you, head on your shoulder as he glares daggers into their souls.
BRO IF SOMEONE FLIRTS WITH YOU OR TOUCHES YOU??
You’ve never seen him super angry, much less murderous. He doesn’t want you to see him that angry normally- but holy moley is he about ready to beat someone.
Yet, he’s still just a ghost- plus if he did something Teru would exorcise him, booooo. So, he settles for continuing to glare, standing between the two of you, hitting their arm if it’s resting on your shoulder. Once again, they’re completely unaware of it, but you aren’t!
“Hanako, you know I won’t leave you for them. They’re a classmate, I barely know them, really.”
“But they want to know you. And I don’t want them to know you… they’re gonna try and take you from me, (Y/N)!”
“I won’t let them take me, you big dummy. So, if you could please let go of me so I can get back to class?”
“No :((“
Not only does he cling to you, of course- though he hugs you bunches and squishes your face just because you’re cute- you can also expect a lot of kisses. Ranging from quick “hey, I’m here, and please don’t choose someone else over me”, “hey, my kisses are better than theirs!! Here’s proof!”, “you’re my girlfriend, not theirs, and if they keep treating you like you aren’t taking I’m going to stabby stabby (but I can’t stab cos Teru’s here, but I would if it wasn’t upsetting)”, etc, etc. It’s… almost strange how easy it is to understand what he means from the way he kisses you- but, I digress!
Overall, he gets jealous fairly easily, and gets very clingy when jealous. He’s not amazing with words, so he wants to show you that he loves you with actions!! However, those actions, more often than not, end up just being… clinging to you, and glaring at people who try to get too close to you.
(RIP Akane, Kou, and Nene for bearing witness to you walking around the school with a visibly angry Hanako. Though the worst the others get is the feeling that someone is staring at them, they get to witness his jealousy from off to the side.)
Kou Minamoto <3
He’s nearly completely opposite from Hanako, actually! He doesn’t get jealous very often, trusting you to actually tell him if something were wrong in the relationship. And, when he does get jealous, he does his best to not show it.
He’s not fond of being jealous. It makes him feel like he’s betraying you…? Like him being jealous is the same as him saying that he doesn’t trust you. But, similarly to Hanako, he trusts you. He just doesn’t trust others quite as much. Not with his very cute and very pretty and very sweet girlfriend :((
While it takes a lot to get him jealous, two things that really can make his temper cut short are (similarly to Hanako) when someone outright flirts or touches you. Especially if they touch you and the two of you aren’t at least friends-
If someone flirts, he’s going to casually slip into the conversation, if he wasn’t there already. A quick “hey, (Y/N)! Wait, sorry, I didn’t realize you were talking-“, then he’ll stand next to you, grabbing your hand lightly. One thing about Kou is, he does his best to be gentle all the time! Even when he’s jealous, he’d never ever hurt you intentionally-!!
If someone’s touching you, he’ll hop into the conversation as he does when someone flirts, adding a “I need your help with something, when you can.” This time, or any time really, if you’re uncomfortable you can use it as an excuse to get away!! Kou’s got your back!!!
If it’s been a day where people just constantly seem to be needing your attention, he’ll start to let his jealousy get to him a bit. It’s not even that some people like your attention- heck, he gets it! He likes having your attention as well. It’s more that… they constantly need your attention. Someone always needing something, even when he just wanted to have a conversation with you :((
In that case, he’ll be slightly clingy, and slightly pouty. Almost like a young child. His lips will be pouted slightly, eyes looking a bit lower to the ground than usual. His hand will be secured in yours, and your shoulder will be lightly pressed against his.
“Kouuu, tell me what’s wrong~,” You spoke, poking his cheek with your index finger. When he was like this, it was easy to tell he was embarrassed about whatever he was pouting over, and not upset over something too serious. It was the perfect time to mess with him.
His face would flush as it usually did- and he’d look away, pouting a bit harder as his eyebrows furrowed slightly. “It’s nothing, (Y/N), really.”
“You’re pouting. Come on, now, you really can tell me. I promise I won’t think of you any less!”
“…it’s just… well- well, seeing all those people around you all day, and I couldn’t really… even get to talk to you. You even had to leave early during lunch-! I’m not angry or anything- it’s dumb, it’s dumb, really-“
“Awwwwh, Kou! Don’t be jealous, sweetheart! It’s not dumb, I actually find it sweet. You know I’d choose you over any of those people. I’d much rather spend time with you than them, but it’s not exactly easy to say no… but, if it makes you feel bad, I’ll make sure they know that, at least, lunch is off-limits.”
“Y-you don’t have to, but… that’s up to you.” (AKA “I want you to, but I don’t want you to feel obligated to do something just for my sake.”)
Overall! Kou’s going to be a sweetheart, even when (not very often) jealous. He doesn’t want you to think he’s silly or not trusting of you when he does get jealous- so he does his best to hide it? Still, he fails, since he can’t help but want to be at least a little closer to you!! Plus the way he pouts- he’s easily read in most situations, and that type is no different.
Mitsuba Sousuke <3
Ahh, where to begin… I suppose the same way I’ve been beginning the other two-
Mitsuba is… a complicated jealous boy? He gets jealous rather easily- and… doesn’t admit it, but makes it painfully obvious. He thinks he isn’t being obvious, but it’s practically plain as daylight.
As he does all things, he masks his jealousy in insults at first! Making his way into whatever conversation or interaction your having, offering an ‘uninterested’ “what’re you doing?” After that, he criticizes every little thing the other person does- his levels of mercy depending on how much the person deserves it.
A quick question? Minimum amount of insults. Maybe one, two if they drag it out.
Just having a normal conversation? More than a short question, but not an excessive amount. If they drag it out too long, the insults go up.
Flirting? Lays the insults on THICK. Plus, after a moment, an annoyed and rather cocky sounding: “why haven’t you gotten lost already? Can’t you see I’m (Y/N)’s boyfriend? You idiot. Moron. Pervert. Who talks to a taken girl like that??”
Touches you? Doesn’t even happen. They reach for you, and he’s smacking their hand away. “Idiot. What right do you have to touch my girlfriend?? That’s invasive. Gross. You’re so weird, trying to put your sticky little hands on her.”
But! If it’s a situation he can’t interfere with, be it because he’s dead and the other person’s alive, or in which the people needing your attention goes on for too long- he enters Sulky Mitsuba Mode.
Don’t get me wrong, Sulky Mitsuba is still full of insults, just… sad. In those times, as a ghost, he can’t help but wonder if you’re content in the relationship. Look at you… popular with other students- other students who could leave the school, buy you things, and such. He was a cute ghost, but he was a ghost. He wasn’t even really Mitsuba- he wasn’t the classmate you once knew. How hard was it for you? Yet, you gave it your best to get to know him again-
Luckily, Mitsuba has the ability to tell himself “if (Y/N) did that much for me, she must at least care.” However, it won’t get rid of all his doubts- and he’ll still sulk once you finally catch up with him.
“Hey, Mitsuba! Sorry, I’ve been busy!”
“Mh? Have you? I’ve barely even noticed you were gone.”
Terrible acting skills, Mitsuba. He looks annoyed, his voice sounds uninterested, but… it’s still somehow easy to see through his little act. He’s jealous, and you’re bound to be aware of it.
Take a seat next to him, and he’ll scoot away. Be patient- when he’s jealous, it’s like approaching a stray cat. No sudden movements or you’ll scare him away!
“I’m sorry, Mitsuba. I know I’ve been caught up today, and I’m really sad that I haven’t seen you much until now. Did you have anything you wanted to do? I’m all yours now!”
“Tch, whatever. I don’t have anything I want to do, so just leave it be.”
Ah… do I even have to mention that he’s stubborn. Apologize a bit, he’ll dismissively forgive you, and go from there. Lighthearted conversation, asking him about his day, talking about yours- slowly move closer to him, and! Next thing you know, his heads on your shoulder as he rants about something that happened.
Overall, Mitsuba does get jealous rather easily! He’s stubborn as always, partnered with his insults constantly ready to be fired- it’s interesting when he gets jealous. He never outright admits that he trusts you, and doesn’t consider much more than “I’m feeling a bit jealous since this person keeps taking (Y/N)’s attention, but he’d never put the blame on you. Just… like I said, be patient, and don’t get too offended.

¹ Just a Little More [ Arataki Itto x F! Reader ]
Tumblr media
👀💦 My mind can't stop thinking about this and that like, sir let me do my work it's already nearing the deadline!!?!?! so here's another Itto content to calm my brain. plus, omfg thanks for the notes, reblogs and follows!
Tumblr media
Summary: Contrary to popular belief, being reborn does not guarantee that you remember your past life. Those who were blessed by Celestia themselves are not fortunate either. All of them were merely entertainment in the eyes of the unknown god.
ᴛᴀɢ(ꜱ): ᴀɴɢꜱᴛ
ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢ(ꜱ): ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ
ᴡᴏʀᴅ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛ: 724
masterlist.
part 1. part 2. part 3.
Before, she was Kana. A farmer's daughter and a simple citizen before the nations were found.
Even before that, she was Ritsu. A noble lady who is contractually obligated to marry a stranger of equal or higher standing.
Before she became Ritsu, she was Makoto—a man sent to the frontlines to fight in a rebellion.
And before Makoto were many more. Names were buried, appearances have been altered, and genders were swapped so many times she has forgotten how her first life went.
And now, she was reborn once more. This time, as [Y/N].
And now, the other was born as a fearsome man.
Tumblr media
"I promise I'll find you in our next life, [redacted]..."
The female woke up, startled. Tears were falling down her eyes as she tried to remember the features of the man in her dreams—but to no avail. All she knew was the taste of ash and the suffocating smoke in the air and the bittersweet feeling remaining in her heart whenever she remembers the words spoken by the other person.
[Y/N] remembered crying for a long time. Why, she didn't know. But deep inside her soul wept for what was lost.
The woman continued on with her daily life, the incident forgotten till she dreamt of another.
"Ah... I was far too late—I'm sorry Ritsu—" He held the hands of the woman wearing what seems to be the most expensive clothing there is. She was clad in clothes made of silk and wool, embroidered with golden thread, and wore jewelry befitting a woman of her stature.
Ritsu coughed and red stained her lovely garments. The man, with his features as hazy as ever, only held the pretty woman's hands tighter.
"I—,"
Again, [Y/N] woke up feeling sad and she started crying once more.
And again, and again, and again.
It went on with no specific pattern. Sometimes she dreamt of something once a week. The others, days in between, and rarely, a month after the last.
She wouldn't know the reason why she kept on dreaming about a man and a woman (sometimes both are women or both are men). But the ending is the same. She would feel the deep, unrelenting sadness, pain, and hopelessness of both of them—it was a never-ending negativity that would never go away even when she wakes up.
Tumblr media
Blood stained the wooden floorboards.
The sharp scent of iron lingered in the air. A lone female laid in the middle of the room, her clothes stained with red. Her eyes glistened as she held back her tears because now, she remembers.
She remembers them. How can she not? Her last dream was of what he looks like, albeit there are no prominent features like a face. Only his general stature and hair color.
The door suddenly opened with a loud bang. A tall, white-haired man entered the room in a panic. His crimson orbs immediately glanced at the female that is bleeding out. The loud noise caught the dying woman's attention.
Her orbs clashed with his—[E/C] to shimmering red.
'Ah,' The female thought. 'So it was I, in this life, who will leave you behind,'
The muscular man ignored the others—who were wearing the purple armor of the Raiden Shogun's army—and instead went straight ahead to where the female laid.
He cradled her head and held her with care. Red was now the prominent hue of her outfit. What was once light red and grey became maroon, and Itto, who was beside the female already recognizes the scent of death lingering behind.
"I..." She coughed blood, "We m-meet again..,"
"Shit, Hanako—Ritsu, Kaori, whatever—It's you, right?" The male applied pressure to her abdomen. "Damn it—I didn't even know your name in this life yet—"
She laughed weakly and placed her hand atop of his, "Maa, y-your name, p-please,"
"It's Arataki Itto now—don't close your fucking eyes!"
Her vision blurred. She wheezed in pain and she slowly loses grip on reality. The female can vaguely hear anything now, and whatever he shouted must have been something when another person enters.
"S...wake!"
'What a pretty name. It fits him,' She squeezed his hands weakly, 'I'm sorry... I'm leaving you again...'
And the cycle begins once more after death has claimed the other half.
"If you could prevent the other from dying, then life deems you worthy to be together. If not—then death is a given,"
---
uhhhh- sorta AU where Celestia, when in a good mood, blesses two people who (will entertain 'em) were involved.

Hello! May i request headcanons with Akane Aoi slowly falling for his clingy (and obvious about her feelings, sometimes saying it straight up like Akane does with Aoi) and popular childhood reader? Before falling for her recently he always found her quite annoying
Akane with a clingy, popular, blunt reader headcanons❣︎
Warnings: None!
A/n: Omg I was waiting for someone to request Akane yeeeee!!
I added a very short oneshot at the end because I had this idea!
I'm sorry for Akane giving you such a cold shoulder at the beginning...
Okok!! I hope you enjoy! Have a good day!
Tumblr media
I feel like the main reason he would not like you is because you are getting in the way of him being with Aoi…
But he isn't the guy to just leave his childhood friend likes that so he just grins and bears it sometimes
Like people would think you two are dating from the looks of it-
You are always hanging around him and hugging him like you two are dating
“Hey Lemon! Can we go to the confession tree so I can practice a confession for Aoi!”
“Confess to Aoi? I thought you were dating y/n.”
Lemon showed him a picture of you with him
Akane was annoyed
You often go into class and latch yourself on his arm
So cute-
Everyone thinks its cute
Akane is trying to get you off...
If someone says that you two are dating he would go out of his way to explain you two were not
Since you were popular this rumor spread like wildfire
Wasn’t good for Akane-
Once he starts to fall for you, he would blush to you more
After a while you become more blunt about your feeling he is even more annoyed/flustered
For example: if he forgot his lunch and you gave him yours
“Why are you giving me your lunch y/n?” He asked grabbing the nicely wrapped box you prepared for yourself this morning
“Because I love you!” You smiled
He would blush when you say stuff like that
He would ignore the feelings tho and focus on Aoi
But of course, the more you deny her the more clingy she's going to be!
But once he starts having feelings for you he becomes a bit of a Tsundere!
Like he is very stubborn about liking you and will always tell himself he like Aoi
Aoi and you: “No, that's wrong-”
He seems like the type of person to think ‘I wonder what’s it's like to kiss y/n? WAIT YOU LIKE AOI NO-’
I personally don't think he would pick up on his feelings by himself
It was most likely Aoi who told him about his own feelings
“AOI-CHAN! I LOVE YOU, PLEASE GO OUT WITH ME!!” Akane grabbed her hand and went down on one knee.
“Hm, what about y/n?”
“I-I don’t love her! I love you, I always loved you!”
“Really? You always blush when she's touching you or confessing her feelings. Are you sure you dont like Y/n-san?”
After a talk with Aoi, Akane starts to realize his true crush
It took a while and a lot of stubbornness from him-
But he found his true feelings finally
He learned it was more of the thought of dating Aoi than his actual feelings
He just needed someone to tell him that
(Y/n could have told you that so many times man -_-)
“Maybe I do like y/n…”
“That's great!” Aoi cheered “I didn’t like you anyways and I always thought your confessions were kind of lame!”
“HARSH-”
She would help him confess to you when he’s ready
Like he honestly expected you to reject him and he would have to do a whole process with you that he did to Aoi-
He was so shocked and happy when you said yes!
He would hug you, so happy
I feel like in a few day, maybe even the day he confessed, he would say sorry
He would explain what he felt
How he thought you were annoying
How you kept getting in the way
How he just kept telling himself he like Aoi hoping he would believe it
He would want you to know
He would feel guilty
Hug and kiss him please.
He becomes a possessive simp over you now
Like its a totally different side than what he showed you before
“Hey Akane-kun!”
“Yes y/n? Do you need anything? You okay? Do you feel sick? Do you want a hug?”
He loves your clinginess
In a way he's just a clingy
He loves holding your hand walking down the hallway
(OMG THIS IS SO CUTE AND FLUFFY I CAN'T-)
Since you are popular, he will definitely become more popular
Not that he wasn’t popular before
“Omg that’s y/n bf? Akane right? He’s really cute!”
“Sorry ladies, I’m taken.” He would nervously smile and continue walking with you
If someone said they like you tho-
“I’m sorry sir, but y/n is taken by me. Her boyfriend.” Akane would glare
He would then tell you to go on ahead to class and that he would be right behind you
Once he knows you are gone he can really rage on this guy (We all know Akane has a yandere mode-)
“LISTEN YOU LITTLE-!! IT TOOK ME A LONG FOR ME TO REALIZE I EVEN LOVE Y/N!! IT TOOK A LONGER TIME FOR ME TO ASK HER TO BE MY GIRLFRIEND!! SO IF YOU DARE TRY ANY FUNNY BUSINESS IN OUR RELATIONSHIP I WILL RIP YOU TO SHREDS GOT IT?!?!?!”
Give him a cookie for good effort
I just had this small oneshot idea-
Manga spoilers for like the clock keeper arc!
“Akane-kun!” You called out and hugged his left arm smiling brightly.
“Huh… morning y/n…” He slightly blushed and averted his eyes from your figure. After a while of silence, he looked back down at you. You tilted your head cutely and looked up at him, thinking about something. Before he could react you stole his glasses off his face.
“EH! Y/N! What are you doing?!?!” He put his hand up to his face, acting like he couldn’t see. He looked down at you and blushed way more than he was earlier. You had his glasses on and looked up at him with a smile.
“What do you think Akane-kun? Do your glasses look good on me? Oh wait, can you even see me without your glasses… woah, you have like no prescription whaaaaaa?” You trailed off as he watched you. He heard laughing and looked to the source. He looked up and saw Hanako in the air laughing his ass off-
“HAHA!! Awwww come on~ doesn’t she look cute with your no prescription glasses~?” Hanako continued to laugh at the flustered boy.
“Akane-kun?” You snapped his attention back to you. He wiggled you off him and took his glasses off your face.
“Yeah whatever… they will probably look better on Aoi-chan anyways…” He mumbled and walked to his desk. Even though he couldn’t see Hanako now, he could definitely hear him.
“AWWWWW COME ON KID!! YOU KNOW SHE LIKES YOU AND YOU OBVIOUSLY LIKE HER BACK!!!!” Hanako whined, causing the boy to tense up.
He really wanted to punch him right now...

Ramble on the Limitations of Looking for KnY Interpretation based on Japanese Mythology
One thing I notice a lot in the Japanese side of KnY fandom theories is a lot of deep dives into religious and mythological reasons behind Gotouge's creative choices. It is super interesting stuff, and Gotouge borrows enough and does homage to enough that there is a clearly a solid knowledge base there. While I find historical details handy for interpreting the characters, ultimately, I find that the canon of demons and Breaths can be interpreted in a vacuum without relying too heavily on the uncanny coincidences lurking in deep dives. This isn't going to be a well-supported essay, this is going to be a ramble that may include a bunch of interesting nuggets. (And then she went on to ramble for 3249 unedited words...)
First things first: I'm a nerd. I like to say I broke the weeb scale a long time ago, but I'm not exactly a university professor or anything like that. That said, I do read a lot of stuff from experts who have jumped on the KnY trends to talk about how elements in KnY are taken from, say, the sword making traditions of the Okuizumo region that results in black swords or simply making comparisons to famous swords, or local legends of supernatural encounters that resulted in split rocks, or comparing specific oni with and the heroes who slayed them or at least comparing elements of specific characters to other famous oni legends, or that Hinokami Kagura is based on a specific Shinto legend and has 12 forms based on existing Kagura traditions, etc. And I love reading this stuff, because I wouldn't had learned about some of it without my interest in KnY leading me to those articles, or as I read it I cheer because they're making references to things I already (as a nerd) really enjoy and therefore it strokes my inner echo chamber bias, or I nod along and think, "oh, yes, why of course, that makes total sense, Hinokami Kagura must be based on the dance Amenouzume performed to enticed the Sun Goddess Amaterasu out of the cave, how silly to think it could be based on anything else" but I then also take a step back to think, "...but it also doesn't have to be." For as many similarities as there to existing legends, it feels to me that Gotouge made it a point not to make specific reference to any particular mythological or religious elements. As an example, Gotouge considered titles with reference to a Shinto fire god named "Kagutsuchi" but never made actual reference to any fire god (or sun god) by name in the finalized direction canon took. Granted, a lot of fan theorists have read into that, going so far as to say because Nezuko's fire powers she represents Kagutsuchi, Yoriichi represents Amaterasu, etc., but while I find the idea of borrowed elements makes for highly interested interpretation of canon, one-to-one comparisons really don't work for this series. By not invoking a name like Kagutsuchi in the title or otherwise, Gotouge succeeded in not being boxed in by the canon of any particular deity. (Granted, "canon" for mythology can vary significantly by whatever historical writings you're looking at, with standard interpretations going through many big changes throughout the centuries. It can be as loose as it is limiting, depending on what sort of historical/mythological/religious figure you're talking about.) I feel there's more evidence of this avoidance by never invoking Amaterasu as a deity, despite the emphasis on the power of the sun in slaying demons. Even looking back and trying to figure out who Akeno placed so much faith, it was only called a "god of sunlight" as opposed to a "sun god." It's as though KnY works with a generic approach to religion. Even if the use of Buddhist element, the Nenbutsu prayer is called such, and Himejima's repeated phrases are legit Buddhist practice, but there is a huge variety of Buddhist sects and practices and theologies, and throughout history, many of them didn't get along. Going back to Akeno and wondering if she might had been Buddhist, I went so far as to suspect she was influenced by Nichirin sect philosophy based on its emphasis on the "Nichi" (sun) representing Japan and incorporating Shinto gods into its philosophy, and for its likely influence in the Kanto area in Akeno's time period, and for its encouragement for the salvation of women and therefore popularity among women. I felt pretty satisfied that it was all lining up, but also, none of this is necessary for a quality interpretation of canon. If Gotouge wanted to say specifically what informed her religious conviction, then it would had been said. But that's not what was important, was it? What was important, and therefore focused on, was Akeno's feelings toward her son and wishes for his sake.
While KnY's worldbuilding feels richer with all the clear religious influence, the details are not actually important. If anything, I feel like Gotouge dove into the heart of the elements of, say, Shinto mythology, and played those core elements up. It's different, yet still familiar, to take sun-associated elements and used them in a way that serves the story without being boxed into existing traditions. The sun is clearly important, and once you start looking for it, you find subtle recurring references to it. Like, Akeno's name? The "Ake" is one way of writing "red," and there are all sorts of uses of other ways of writing "red" throughout the series, in everything from the sand used for making Nichirin blades to the way that Haganezuka calls Tanjiro an auspicious "red" child with a very rarely used kanji. Our commoner main characters, though, just use regular old ways of saying "red" when referencing Tanjiro's appearance without thinking deeply into it, like there's something special right in front of them but they don't recognize it. Similar to how something as special as Sun Breathing was hidden right in front of them in Hinokami Kagura, with a name so generic and simple that it's entirely unsurprising that the Taisho era Kamado family would interpret it as "fire god." The very lack of limiting real-life details is what allows Gotouge to sprinkle these deep touches around, cover them up with branches and leaves, and then sit back and wait for readers to stroll through and invitingly pleasant looking field and then trip and fall down a rabbit hole. This is also what I think gives Gotouge the freedom and malleability to work with the sun in a way that serves the story, especially in ways that tie it to fire. While I don't think there's strong ties for this is general Japanese culture, the way canon is written implies a close tie between fire and the sun as being a very closely related element, hence the influence on the Kamado family, Tanjiro's appearance, his suitability for Sun Breathing based on a history of tending fire for careful charcoal burning, and Tanjiro and Nezuko capability as demons to overcome the sun. Here is where I go into a bit of a tangent about the purification element. This, again, is not strictly tied to any particular Shinto canon (and Shinto does place heavy emphasis on purification), but instead is an example of Gotouge getting to the underlying heart of a lot of common religious elements. Fire is associated with spiritual purification in everything from Buddhism to Catholicism, it's very easy to apply Nezuko's fire abilities as something which burns away something evil (demon poison) so as to purify something good (human flesh, or even other physical substances). Maybe lesser known, but very deeply entrenched in Japanese culture, is the purification element of charcoal. While it may be known around the world for soaking up undesirable elements and therefore used in everything from fish tank filters to treating food poisoning, in Japan, there's a bit of a spiritual side to it as well. For something so closely tied to the way of life for citizens throughout hundreds of years of history for everything from cooking to heating the home, it's unsurprising that quality charcoal would receive as much emphasis as good water and rice. Japanese charcoal is especially known for not producing undesirable smoke or odor, making it appropriate for use in a lot of settings. Charcoal farmers have often not just been that; they've been caretakers of the forest. Keeping the right trees, at the right sizes (both for use as charcoal and for how you pack it together when making charcoal), and in the right numbers to ensure you have stock for coming years, requires management of the forest. (Other tangent side note: many of the other names in the Kamado family are references to plants. Sumire both has the "sumi" sound of charcoal and is the word for violet, Kie is in reference to hollyhock, Nezuko is in reference to red beans (and the asanoha pattern of her kimono is in reference to hemp leaf, an
auspicious symbol of strong and quick growth), Takeo is in reference to bamboo (ironically bamboo can be a problematic plant for charcoal farmers, because it may spread too fast and take resources from other trees--stop stealing all the takuan pickles, Takeo!), Hanako is in general reference to flowers, Shigeru is in general reference to (plants) flourishing, and maybe by the time they got to Rokuta they gave up and said "he's our sixth child, let's just call him 'Six-Boy', lolz." BUT I DIGRESS.) That means the Kamado family not only had careful management of fire in the actual days of charcoal production, but of a wide variety of natural resources to ensure the trees were healthy. Natural weather phenomena, clean water, pest control, minerals from rocks getting into the soil, hmm, so many elements to pay attention to. Hmm. These sure sound a lot like other Breaths. And Breaths all stem from Sun Breathing. That means there may be certain elements of Sun Breathing that have been emphasized in each of them, but none of them encompass so many qualities of the natural world. The natural world which Yoriichi saw with such clarity than nature accepted him with open arms, practically, in how well animals took to him. Sun Breathing, while especially using that all-important purification aspect of sunlight which burns evil demons, is like an all encompassing embrace of nature. While being closely tied with fire is hugely important, there's more to it than just flames. While Shinto is very much so closely tied with nature (the extent to which this is emphasized may vary from shrine to shrine, scholar to scholar), what I see in KnY is a clever use of emphasis on spirituality in nature as opposed to emphasis on Shinto mythology. And I think that was a smart move. While stories based more directly on various theologies, mythologies, and religious ideologies often use those building blocks often wind up having very creative takes on them (even and especially with the confines of them), ultimately, the story of KnY is whatever Gotouge wants to do with it, and it does not seem guided by the specific conventions of more specific religious elements. But again, those deeper elements are still everywhere. You know what color Japanese charcoal burns? It's a gorgeous jewel tone red, spanning many of those rare shades of red Gotouge make reference to. And, in wider Japanese culture, red is the color of the sun (as opposed to how other cultures may represent it as yellow or orange or white or so on). (Not as exactly a KnY tangent, just personal: Japanese charcoal is so freaking pretty, I had no idea until I saw it used in the tea ceremony at parts when guests crowd around to enjoy the sight of it as the host prepares it for boiling the water. I can stare and stare and stare, it is so so so so so pretty, but also this element of the ceremony has gotten rarer both as many places have made a more practical switch to electricity, and tea ceremony quality has gotten more rare both due to fewer producers and due to beetle-related damages to the trees used, and I will always state HOW DISAPPOINTED I am that Kanata and Sumihiko are not out there raising charcoal, because charcoal is precious and I'm always so terrified of wasting charcoal in my practices because its so precious, but seeing the amazingly beautiful burn of the charcoal is absolutely one of my favorite elements of the ceremony and this of course gives me an extra soft spot for Kamado Tanjiro BUT I DIGRESS AGAIN, I TOLD you this was going to be a ramble, but SERIOUSLY IT IS SUCH A GORGEOUS RED).
So anyway. My point is, as interesting as incorporating outside elements may be, I don't find them necessary in interpreting KnY's canon. Even if it takes tons of Taisho Secrets to do so, Gotouge presents the details necessary, and that's more than enough to work with. After all, despite all the care taken in historical details in building the setting, KnY takes place in a fictional universe, it can make its own rules when it comes to things that don't actually exist in our universe. Demons, for example, follow a chronology and power system with sources and limits that is unique to a this universe, as tempting as it is due to general cultural familiarity, it does not call for a one-to-one comparison with existing demon legends. Breath as well, as a power system, is very interesting. Again, this is because it has a lot of basis in core concepts of real life physical and spiritual training. It's presented as a method available to anyone who can pick it up, not drawing on a mystical outside power or summoning the actual superhuman elements of nature. Other stories that present their power systems like that are well and fine, but when it comes down to it, this is a story about mere humans doing everything in their limited power to wave swords around and defeat creatures that seem so likely to outpower them. This is a common, relatable basis of stories throughout history, and a lot of analysis I've heard of KnY's success says that it shows how classic this story structure is. Many Japanese demon stories have their origin in epidemics, and some people suggest that the world looks for hope in stories like KnY in times of seemingly insurmountable crises like coronavirus. I think that's an oversimplification of KnY's success, but again, because of Gotouge's use of core cultural elements, it can be applied easily. OKAY BUT ON THAT NOTE we can do some really interesting digging if we want. : D Gotouge does make some highly specific references, included religious ones (granted, not in ways that impact the plot). The example coming to mind is the Seventh Form of Thunder Breathing, the "Flaming Thunder God." In Japanese, this is "Honoikazuchi-no-Kami," the name of a lightning deity who had a very, very brief mention in the Kojiki and who appeared among a handful of other lightning deities named in reference to other aspects/phenomena of lightning, like the sound or the rumble through the ground. Honoikazuchi is not so much the lightning itself, but the fires started by lightning. Stick with me a bit longer, I'm building up to something here. You've probably heard of the twelve animals of the Chinese (poorly translated as) Zodiac, right? Well, the system is way more complex than that, and really, if you want complexity, skip Japan and go dive straight into ancient China. I laugh and cry at myself for having a graduate degree in Chinese studies, the extent of my knowledge is is pitifully small, I know nothing, nothing. Suffice to say, China has its own five element system of water/wood/metal/fire/earth, it's more a philosophical application than a more physicality-based four element system popular in the west (fire/water/air/earth, why hello there, Avatar), with attributes of these elements assigned to every about anything through Chinese culture, from medicine to, you guessed it, the Zodiac animals. Japan saw all this and said "cool, we'll do that too" albeit their sort of mixed and matched a bit and made their own take on it in Onmyodo. An Onmyoji, who keeps track of, like, really any other-worldly matter you might have on your hands as a Heian noble, is someone who is paid to know all this stuff (it was very likely an Onmyoji who told the Ubuyashiki clan, "yeah, you got an evil family member to blame for your curse, squash him"). Yours Truly is not an Onmyoji and therefore will not attempt to go into more detail, save the one that a handful of Japanese theorists in the KnY fandom love to bring up: The Boar is a water sign. This means that, especially in Shinto practice, boars are considered an animal that protects against
fire, hence, a lot of practices to protect against fires were done on days of the Boar, in the month of the Boar, etc. So? So-o-o-o-o-o? You see it? You see it??? Boar = Water, Honoikazuchi = Fire, Inosuke and Zenitsu are basically foils to Tanjiro? Yes, yes, see it, yessss??? Deep dive Kamaboko theory, yes?????? Hahahaha. Naw. It's just a fun coincidence. ^_^ Again, I find these details completely unnecessary, for we are already given so many details in canon to work with on its own, and I think Inosuke and Zenitsu as foils to Tanjiro works entirely well simply based on their personalities, not because of any supernatural elements that require a high level of nerdery to have any hope of appreciating. Besides, once you start reaching too hard for cultural details Gotouge might have used and clinging too tightly to those ideas, there's likely something in canon to make it doubtful. For instance, Inosuke more widely presented as a king of the forest who wears deer and bear hide as well, and the fanbook state that Beast Breath is considered a likely offshoot of Wind Breathing. Even if we rely more strictly on historical detail, there's still the question of, say, what one of the basic Breaths, Thunder Breathing, even was when it was but a thunder inspired sword form not necessarily powered by Breath, you know, back when swords were longer and it would have been harder to make the fast draws katana would later be better suited for. Maybe they called it Thunder because it was practiced by swordsmen who stomped around really hard, and then when they added Breath technique, they figured out "oh dude, we can use our strong legs to go fast"??
Those are the kinds of things I find more fun to play around with in interpreting canon by bringing in little outside details, because as a work of fiction, there are already so many fun details to work with already even when treating it in a vacuum. But, giving Gotouge extensive and subtle use of cultural elements, especially core elements, it sure makes a lot of outside details applicable. Which is all to say, it's all super interesting, and I think the more people realize these things, the deeper they read into it, to an extent more than canon calls for. As much as I like it, and as much as I've enjoyed pulling outside elements in to fanfiction (like Kagutsuchi and lightning god tidbits), ultimately, if Gotouge thought these things were necessary, they'd have been included. Since they are not, I try to stick to canon details and Word of God-touge in answering Asks (lolz, I didn't plan on becoming a meta blog, it just kinda happened). BUT ALSO, JEEZ, I AM SO EXCITED IF PEOPLE TAKE A DEEPER INTEREST IN JAPANESE CULTURE BECAUSE THEY LIKE KIMETSU NO YAIBA, YOU CAN HAVE SO-O-O-O-O-O MUCH FUN PLANNING A TRIP TO JAPAN AROUND KNY THEMES, DO IT DO IT DO IT, GO TO YAGYU AND POSE IN A TANJIRO HAORI AND STICK YOUR SWORD IN A SPLIT ROCK, THE LOCALS THERE LOVE IT, DO IT but also like maybe learn about the tea ceremony and appreciate how beautiful the charcoal is with me k thx bye
