WIP excerpt for VideoGeek; Kara gets to Earth on time and the Kents get a two-for-one special on free kids. ( + non-chrono link for mobile users )
“Ka-Lair,” Ma says again, low and soothing. She says some other words too. Kara doesn't understand them.
She can't stop crying.
She's not supposed to cry. Not in front of Kal. Kal has to see her smiling. Kal–Kal has to–
He has to.
So she can't be crying right now.
“Ka-Lair,” Ma repeats one more time. She reaches out. Puts a hand on the porch between them.
Kara needs to stop crying. She's fine. She just needs to stop crying. She's fine because she has to be fine and she's not crying because Kal needs her to not be crying and she–and she–
And she's fine.
She is.
Ma says something else. Turns her hand upright in offering.
Kara can't let go of Kal to take it.
It's not safe to let go of Kal.
He’s so little, and she knew he could fall. She knew it. How was she so stupid, to leave him alone and unwatched all the way across the porch? She knew better! She’d thought about it, and he’s so little!
And she’d still turned away and taken her eyes off him, because she’d been so weak and pathetic as to need to be upset.
Kal needs her not to be upset. Kal needs her to take care of him.
Kal needs her, and she let him fall.
Kara sobs harder, and Ma leans in and wraps her arms around her. She wants to shove away, but can’t do that to her. Can’t be ungrateful like that, when Ma and Pa have given them so much.
But she doesn’t deserve it. She let Kal fall, and she’s being a problem and an inconvenience to Ma, and she’s being a problem. She can’t do that. This. Any of this.
She needs to not be a problem. She needs to help out and not cause trouble and not inconvenience them and take care of Kal and never, ever take her eyes off him and–and–
And she needs to stop crying like this!
Why can’t she just–just stop?
Ma makes strange and quiet little hissing noises and hugs her tighter; strokes a hand back through her hair. The last person who did that was her mother, and now her mother isn’t the last person who did that. And her mother will never do it again. Will never . . . never . . .
Why can’t she stop crying?
Kal chimes in distress again, still trying to squirm out of her arms, and Kara unthinkingly tightens her grip to keep him there. He yelps in pain, and she jerks–lets him go quick, and he nearly tumbles out of her lap. Ma catches him against her chest, and Kara let him fall again, she let him fall she let him fall she let him fall–!
“Ka-Lair,” Ma says, and makes more of those quiet little hissing noises as she keeps stroking through her hair, and now down Kal’s back too even as Kara yanks him back into her lap in a panic. Kal fusses, and then starts crying too, and it’s all her fault, Kara did this, she’s awful at this, she’s supposed to be taking care of him and keeping him happy and safe and instead she let him fall, twice, and made him cry!
Ma keeps talking. Kara doesn’t understand any of the words, and even though she’s clearly trying to help, the flat, alien tones of her voice sound all wrong. There’s nothing soothing about those tones, and Kara doesn’t understand the words.
She wants to go home.
She wants home to still be there, even if she couldn’t go back to it.
Everything’s gone. Everyone is gone. It’s just her and Kal and a pair of crystals in a couple of wrecked ships.
That's all it'll ever be again.
Krypton is dead. Their family is dead. They're all that's left, and there won't ever be another Kryptonian born. Won't ever be another Kryptonian at all.
She'll never see her mother again.

Bonus scene 𓆩♡𓆪
from the CALL ME WHAT YOU WANT universe (18+)
strip club owner!eddie x fem!exotic dancer!hargrove!reader
Tumblr media
timeline: 015, THIS SCENE, 016** | ** = smut
Eddie has an important question to ask you on your birthday.
contains: fluff, physical touch, flirting, loverboy!eddie, romantic eddie, implied history of abuse from billy
wc: 1k words
*play this while you read to really be immersed in st nostalgia* 🥹 (if you want)
“Oh no,” you breathe.
Everything starts to make more sense when you see Steve waiting for you at Hellfire’s doors. He’s got the smuggest look on his face. You quickly try to turn and run the other way, already embarrassed. But the former Star Athlete is faster, immediately lunging at you to drag you into the club.
“Nope!” Harrington protests.
“Steve-” you begin.
“No no no no,” he shakes his head. “Where do you think you’re going, young lady?”
They’re all gonna see you like this. You hate to admit it, but you had just spent your entire commute crying — evident by your raccoon eyes — because you thought everyone (except for Billy) had forgotten your birthday.
Robin and Vicky were already out of the house by the time you woke up. Max, you assumed, got a ride from Steve to their new barista job. Chrissy turned down a pre-shift ‘Hot Girl Walk’, and Eddie never called. It was starting to feel like the most Adult birthday ever, but by a long shot not the worst.
“Put me down!” you persist.
Birthdays suck. Especially when you share one with your abuser. But you’re in a new era now. An era where you are loved, celebrated, and protected.
“SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHY GIRL!”
You’re bombarded by obnoxious kazoos and party hats, streamers and confetti in all shapes and colors, and what looks like a homemade birthday cake in Jane (Mike’s girlfriend)’s hands, decorated with funky, florescent candles, and crafty red hearts that overpowered every inch of the thick white fondant.
“Oh my god,” you beam.
Max, Robin and Vicky. Chrissy, Argyle, Nancy, Jonathan, and Henry. Will, Lucas, Dustin, Mike, Jane, and Erica who also just had a birthday (she turned 18 last week). Steve. Gareth, Jeff, and Grant. All the faces you’ve grown to know and love since moving to Hawkins, all together in one room to celebrate YOU.
“We were trying so hard to keep this a secret,” Steve explains as he gives you a hug. “I’d say we did a pretty good job.”
“Yeah sorry we couldn’t get a better location,” Mike adds. “Chuck E Cheese was fully booked so Hellfire was the next best thing.”
“You guyssss,” you begin to sob. “This is oddly perfect. Thank you.”
“Well,” Jane says. She holds the cake up to your face. “There's no sense in waiting any longer. Make a wish!”
You close your eyes. I wish for life to always be this peaceful.
And when you open your eyes, you see Eddie in front of you, with a beautiful rose bouquet and a bag in his hands.
“Happy birthday, sweetheart.”
His eyes are twinkling like a kid who woke up early on Christmas morning. You greet him with a warm hug to which he uses that opportunity to affectionately rub your back. You hear some soft “aww”s in the background, but you’re too infatuated with the man in front of you to jokingly scorn at whoever said it.
“How’d you know it was my birthday?” you ask him.
“You can find out lot of stuff from paperwork,” Eddie winks at you. “Specifically your resume. Which, might I say, is very impressive.”
“Why, thank you, sir,” you giggle.
You can tell the sir made Eddie’s stomach do somersaults. Completely blushing now, he hands you your gift in the form of a bag, ushering you to open it — right here — in front of everybody.
"You didn't have to..." you mutter quietly.
You take the bag from him.
"Yet… I did," Eddie spews confidently. He watches as you unwrap your gift. “I’d get you strippers but then it’d feel like work. And your bday should never feel like work.”
You nudge him as you roll your eyes. Such a fucking cornball.
But then you become the cornball. A tear begins to form in your eyes when you look at all your gifts. The roses. A custom metalhead Build-A-Bear with a leather jacket and jeans whose certificate reads “Eddie Bear”, and a gold plated charm bracelet from Everlasting Memories with your name engraved on it. But just when you think you had everything, Eddie scoops up the last one from the bottom. It’s a small wooden sign with a message on it.
CAN I BE YOUR BOYFRIEND?
“Oh my god…” is all you can say.
His voice is as gentle as the fingers he uses to patiently graze your arm. "So can I?"
The tear that formed in your eye finally trickles its way down your rosy red cheeks. "Of course you can."
Then you two share a kiss, eliciting an even louder swarm of “aww”s than the ones before, and generating a reaction from nearby, a very curious dancers.
“I hope you know how special you are to each and every one of us,” Eddie says to you. “Especially me, haha.”
You wipe the happy tears away from your eyes.
“It sure feels like it.”
Eddie gives you the day off and you use it to stuff your face and play board games with all your friends. Eventually after the short festivities you stay behind to chill with everyone for a bit. Then you go your own way to start making dinner, which you insisted on, at home.
When you get home, you’re surprised with another text message from Billy.
Billy Hargrove
I’d say the move has helped us a lot. I have room to miss you 🤣
You smile as you answer back.
To be better days ❤️ Happy birthday, brother. I miss you tons.
Billy Hargrove loved “To better days ❤️ Happy birthday, brother. I miss you tons.”
After your convo with Billy, you make your way over to the freezer to grab and defrost the chicken. Tonight’s menu consists of chicken, greens, and potatoes for dinner, followed by some birthday muffins Bob Newby had his bakers make at his coffee shop (courtesy of Max and Steve) for dessert.
Next, you begin to set the table, making sure to make seven settings for tonight: you, Max, Robin, Vicky, one for Eddie, and one for Wayne.
And when you’re finally done, you take a look around your house that you have made a home with your sister and best friends. You’re finally home. Hawkins is home. And for the first time in a really long time, you can truly say you’ve had… a happy birthday.

Late in February
Davina Claire x Male Reader
Request; hey when you can would you be open to write a davina Claire x maleoc One shot thank you so much
Tumblr media
Davina got the call when she heard her boyfriend is in the hospital. She headed to the hospital where she saw Rebekah.
“What happened to Y/n!?” Davina yelled.
“Calm down before they kick you out of the hospital,” Rebekah said.
“Just tell me now,” Davina said.
“We found him passed out and badly hurt in a church. He hasn't woken up just yet. The doctor thinks it happened last night because the wounds are fresh” Rebekah said.
Davina ran into the room and she started to cry. She gently grabbed your hand and gently touched your head.
“Y/n,” Davina said.
“The doctors think he will make it,” Rebekah said.
“I was supposed to meet him last night for our date, I got mad and sent him an angry text. I thought he stood me up and was ignoring me” Davina said.
She kissed your forehead.
“Have you told him?” Rebekah asked.
“I was going to tell him last night. What really happened to him” Davina said.
“Some witch attacked him. I found curse bags at the church. I think they lured him and then attacked him, I think they are trying to send you a message” Rebekah said.
Rebekah and the others know that you are her boyfriend. You and Davina have been dating for a while and she never told you that she is a witch.
“They will pay for what they did,” Davina said.
You start to open your eyes and they are happy you woke up. You are feeling sore and you look at them strangely.
“I’m so happy that you are awake” Davina smiled.
She hugged you and she can't stop smiling.
“Y/n, how are you feeling?” Rebekah asked.
“Who are you?” You asked.
“Y/n, don't joke about this,” Davina said.
“I really don't know who you are and who is Y/n. Why did you hug me?” You said.
“I’m your girlfriend and stop joking,” Davina said.
“Lady, I said I don't know who you are,” You said.
“I don't think he is joking, Davina. Your name is Y/n and Davina is your girlfriend” Rebekah said.
“This is a joke, right?” You asked.
“What do you remember last night?” Davina asked.
You try to remember and Davina feels devastated about what is going on. You are trying hard to remember but you have nothing.
“Do you remember anything?” Davina asked.
You were going to say something but the doctor walked in.
“He doesn't remember anything,” Rebekah said.
“He must have got hit in the head hard that he doesn't remember anything,” the doctor said.
The doctor starts to check your pupils.
“Where do you live?” The doctor asked.
“New York,” You said.
“This is New Orleans, not New York. What year is today?” the doctor said.
“Ummm… 2013,” You said.
“He would get memories back, just help him remember. Like, take him somewhere familiar it could trigger something” The doctor said.
“We will do that,” Rebekah said.
“I will be right back,” the doctor said.
You look at Davina and Rebekah but you don't remember them.
“Guard the door,” Davina said.
“Why?” You asked.
“Not you,” Davina said.
Rebekah saw Davina put her hand on your head. Davina starts to say a magic spell and it starts to work, your eyes and her eyes change colors. Rebekah went by the door to make sure no one would walk into the room.
Davina is seeing how you got hurt and lured to the church. They told you that Davina was a witch and you didn't believe them. Then one of the witches used their magic to throw you against the wall and you hit your head against the brick wall and then passed out.
She stopped and she put a spell on you to make you fall asleep. Now, she is feeling angry and she wants revenge.
“Did you see who did it?” Rebekah asked.
“Take him home,” Davina said.
She walks away.
“Davina!” Rebekah yelled.
Davina didn't stop, she kept walking and she wasn't thinking straight. She wants them to suffer for hurting you and she won't let them get away. Rebekah called Elijah for help and told him what had happened.
Davina went to see Kara Nguyen and Sabine Laurent. She used her magic to break the doors and she walked inside the shop.
“Why did you hurt him!?” Davina yelled.
“It had to be done, Davina” Kara said.
“He didn't do anything to you! How do you even know him?” Davina said.
“It's what you did. Because of what you did, he had to pay. He is a nobody” Kara said.
“You will regret saying that,” Davina said.
“You didn't even tell him that you are a witch. How can you love someone when they don't that you are a witch?” Sabine said.
“Enough!” Davina yelled.
They were going to attack Davina, but she used her magic to stop them.
“This is for hurting him,” Davina said.
Before Kara and Sabine can say anything, Davina uses her magic to break their bones. They screamed in pain then Davina’a magic broke their necks and their bodies fell on the ground. She doesn't feel bad for what she did and she just stares at them then walks away.
✯ ✯ ✬ ✯
You are in your apartment but you don't remember anything. Davina is in your apartment and the mood feels awkward for you.
“What is our names again?” You asked.
“My name is Davina and your name is Y/N. You are my boyfriend of one year” Davina said.
“Okay, I will try to remember that,” You said.
“Do you remember this place? It's your apartment” Davina said.
“Not really. Everything feels out of place. I don't even remember meeting you” You said.
“You bumped into me when I came out of a cafe shop. You made me spill my drink on me and your clothes. You apologized then you asked me out” Davina said.
“What happened after that?” You asked.
“Our first date didn't go well, because you went to the wrong restaurant but at the end of the night we felt chemistry,” Davina said.
You try to remember what she said. She waits for you to say something and you are trying hard to remember.
“I don’t remember,” You said.
“How about we go to the cafe shop first then to the restaurant on our first date?” Davina asked.
“Okay, I guess,” You said.
She took you to the cafe shop. Step by step she told you what happened but you don't remember. She gently grabbed your hand and you walked inside the shop with her. By touching your hand, you start to remember something.
“I remember something,” You said.
“What do you remember?” Davina smiled.
“I’m not sure. But it's something about you…”
“Take your time,” Davina said.
“Did your hands ever glow? It sounds strange, I know. But that can't happen right?” You said.
She wanted to tell you right there but not in public.
“That can't happen, Y/n” Davina lied.
She bought the same coffee when you first met her. And she told you what to do but it didn't work.
“I don't think this is working,” You said.
“You have to try, Y/n! You have to remember” Davina said.
“I’m trying. I don't remember you at all!” You said.
You felt frustrated and left the coffee shop. She starts to go after you then she grabs your hand.
“I’m sorry. I-I just want you to remember” Davina said.
“I’m really trying then my head starts to hurt,” You said.
“I’m sorry. I will take you home then we will eat dinner together and relax” Davina said.
“Okay,” You said.
She ordered take-out food. She starts to tell you what kind of hobbies you have and all your likes and dislikes.
“I can't believe you know everything, wow,” You said.
“I have to because I'm your girlfriend” Davina smiled.
You smiled at her and you liked her smile.
——-
You are lying in bed and she is sleeping next to you. She has her arm across your chest and her head on your chest. You are trying to remember anything before meeting Davina.
She starts to wake up and she snuggles on you.
“Hey,” Davina said.
“Hey,” You said
“Have you been awake for a while?” Davina asked.
“Yeah. I didn't want to move because you were sleeping on top of me” You said.
“That was nice of you to do” Davina smiled.
You and Davina stayed in bed for a little longer. She starts to talk about your sleep habits and how you hog all the blankets.
✯ ✯ ✬ ✯
Davina is at her house doing magic. She is so focused on her magic that she doesn't hear you walking in. You watch her use magic and say a phrase then something in your mind triggers something.
“I remember what happened to me,” You said.
She turns around and she is in shock.
“Y/n…” Davina said.
“I remember those witches lured me to the church. They said you were a witch and didn't believe them. Then they attacked me and I hit my head. You lied to me, Davina” You said.
She gets close to you and you move away.
“I can explain, Y/n. I wanted to tell you that night but you got hurt and lost your memory. I was scared to tell you because I didn't want to lose you” Davina said.
“All this time you never told me. I'm starting to remember some stuff but not everything” You said.
“Y/n, it takes time. Please don't hate me” Davina said.
“I need to leave,” You said.
“Y/n, I don't want to lose you,” Davina said.
You didn't say anything, you just walked away. She starts to cry and she starts to think that you hate her. You start to walk around the French Quarter to clear your mind.
——-
You want back to your apartment. Davina is outside of your apartment and she has been crying.
“I was just waiting for you,” Davina said.
“I needed some time for myself, I mostly walked,” You said.
“Y/n, I'm sorry that I didn't tell you. I just didn't know how to tell you, I was scared that you were going to hate me. I have strong feelings for you and I just don't want to lose you” Davina said.
You walk closer to her and she stares into your eyes. You don't say anything, you kiss her on the lips. She wraps her arms around you and she starts to kiss you back.
“Y/n,” Davina said.
You start to kiss her again and she touches your cheek.
“I accept that you are a witch. I thought witches were kids' stories to scare them” You said.
“I have a lot to explain. But I'm happy you forgive me, Y/n” Davina said.
She starts to kiss you again and you start to smile. You invited her inside, she asked questions about what you remember. You remember some things about her and your life but everything else is a blur. Then she starts to explain how she has been living for a long time, it took you a while to believe that.
She is still happy that you didn't break up with her. She starts to kiss you again and you start to smile at her. Then she starts to show you what abilities she can do. She used telekinesis and you are impressed, then she starts to smile because you started to ask so many questions.

When Was It Over?
Supergirl. Kara Danvers x Reader!
Word Count: 2121.
Notes: not a happy ending, sorry.
Kara Danvers has known the sting of a heartbreak on many occasions.
Kenny was her high school sweetheart and he has literally died. Mon-El had to leave the Present or he would die as well. William also died, granted they weren’t together together, but she can't even imagine what would have happened if they were.
Now as she watches you leaving her apartment, she can feel her heart being torn apart and she knows she will not get over it. She will never be able to recover. Kara Danvers will never be the same after this heartbreak.
But not like she wasn't her true self when Mon-El left. How she was a blubbering mess, crying and rolling on her bed to find it empty and how her heart was somehow emptier. Kara really thought that was the worst thing she would feel in her life. Forget about kryptonite, that heartbreak was one for the books. Life was so good, almost perfect and then faith or whatever it was just snatched from her and she was alone.
And yet, this heartbreak feels worse of all. Feels like Kara's ground just got pulled under her feet and she feels like Alice, falling, slumping, downward into the rabbit hole. And while she spins out of control, no breath left in her lungs, no words out of her mouth, no heart doing its job, she sees your eyes.
Kara will never laugh again. Not in the same way, anyway. Your jokes were the best. Tailored to her sense of humor. One that most people didn't even get. And she knew you did it on purpose, to get a laugh out of her. When she laughed your face would light up and her heart would swallow on her chest.
She doesn't know what to say. Doesn't know how to describe it. Right now you're leaving with a piece of her, her favorite one, and so she is hollow and lonely, so terribly broken she doesn't know where to even start.
Because you are not leaving her life unwanted. You're making this decision and she doesn't know if this searing pain will ever cease to burn her heart and the pit of her stomach, and if this wound will ever truly heal.
"Don't go." She thinks she begs out of her mouth. Tasting salt out of her tears, and the bitter tang of your leaving. A sharp pain on her heart like it's going to give out soon.
But you keep going. No words uttered out loud. No sound. No noise, except your hand on the handle, and your feet on the floor.
"Please." Kara is sure her voice came out this time, so loud in the deafening silence, it almost startled her.
"You know," You don't turn around. Can't, or you might not ever leave. Heart squeezed so tight, you wonder how it is that the words are leaving your mouth in the first place. "I really thought it was you."
Kara would never have to ask what. She was everything. And yet she almost hears the word leaving her mouth. She holds it back, having a million other questions fighting on her brain, but she knows she won't get the answer to them all, so she needs the perfect one. The question that will make you stay. The question that might bring her peace.
"When was it over?"
To that question you can't help but stop and turn around. Breathe caught on your lungs.
"I –" You blink, thinking about the answer. You don't know, which is weird. How can you not know when this was over? How can you not know why you're leaving the life of the person you were so sure you were going to spend the rest of your life with?
The question grows inside you. Turned into a moment filled with tension, heaviness, and yet it almost feels sacred. There's no air left between you and Kara anymore. Nothing but a suffocating and deafening silence.
She is the first one to speak again. "Was it that night you didn't care where I've been?"
Kara slipped in, late at night. You're almost asleep, but you still noticed her. She didn't look like she was in any Supergirl emergency. She stunk of beer. She wasn't drunk, though. You know it would take almost all the beer in the word for Kara to be drunk, but still she was being louder than she usually is.
Her cold hand glided through your stomach and you flinched, escaping her touch. "Go to sleep. You stink of alcohol." You moved farther away from her.
"Aren't you going to ask me where I was?" She sounded offended.
"I don't care."
"What?" You finally turned around to look at her. Kara had her brows furrowed, crinkle in the middle of her forehead, confusion crossing her face as if you just said something crazy.
"I'm trying to sleep." You explained, but she huffed, annoyed.
"Don't let me get in the way of that." Kara stood up, and she was quick to fly away from the same window she flew in.
You blink your memories of that night away. That wasn't it, but it surely didn't help.
"No. No, it wasn't that night."
Kara's eyes are full of tears, looking around, trying to remember more things. Trying to find out when this was done.
"Was it when I met your friends and acted indifferent?"
"Why are you mad? I – I had to go. I'm sorry I didn't stay there and chat with your college friends. Honestly, I had more important things to do!"
"Oh, I'm sorry my friends are not secret agents trying to save the world! But they are important to me, and it was important for me that you'd meet them."
Kara breathed out. "I did! I met the cheery lady and her sad-looking husband. I heard them talking about their new baby, but I had to save people from a car crash."
"It's not about leaving! It's about acting like you're above them."
"I didn't do that." You snorted at her lie. "Just because I said her husband couldn't be the smartest man on Earth? I have a friend who's literally a 12th-level-intellect! That man only knew how to talk about stocks! And he was so boring."
You blinked at her, tired, exhausted from this fight. "Yeah."
"Wait, you're agreeing with me? You also think he is boring?"
"No Kara. I'm just too tired to fight. Too tired for this."
She wouldn't see it. Kara thinks her friends are much better than yours. And they might be, anyways. You love her friends, but hey, your friends aren't so bad.
"Fine. You're too tired. I should go then."
You breathed out. "Yeah."
"I'm sorry." She finally says, a whole two months later. "Sad-looking-husband and overcompensating-cheery-lady are fine!"
"You didn't even bother learning their names!" You yell, but something brings you back to it. This isn't it. This is not the reason why you're leaving Kara, so it won't do you any good getting mad about it right now. "Whatever. It doesn't matter anymore. You will never have to see my horrible friends again. You should be thrilled about that."
"I'm not. I'm not thrilled about any of this, but I need to know. If your friends aren't the reason why you're leaving me, then what is?"
"Why does it matter? It's not going to change my mind. You saying sorry months later won't change my mind!"
"I need to know when it was over! When was I dancing with the ghost of you?"
You blink. The question hits you hard. When did you become a ghost in this relationship?
"Was it that time Mon-El came from the future?"
Oh yeah, here's Mon-El making his appearance right on time. Right when she mentions ghosts. Of course he would come back to haunt you guys again.
"Was that after or before you met the president, you fibber?"
"I'm not lying!" Kara defended herself, after a burst of laughter. She looked around the park and dropped her voice. "You're just jealous you've never been to Mars."
"You're right. Sounds like you had the time of your life fighting White Martians. I so wish I was there." You joked and she pulled you by your waist, a smile dangling on her face. Faces so close you knew what was coming next.
"Kara?" You heard a man's voice and both of you looked in the direction of it. Wait, you know this dude. Kara's hands left your waist, the distance grew huge. It was a matter of seconds, but you could cut the tension between them with a knife.
"Mon-El!" She exclaimed in total shock. "Rao, you're back from the future."
Mon-El. Her ex. That's where you knew him from. They exchanged amenities. You were not introduced, talked to, or acknowledged even once.
"So I'll see you back at the Tower?" He asked and she agreed vividly.
"I'm right behind you." And she was, indeed, almost flying away behind him when you cleared your throat and she noticed you. "Oh!" Kara looked back at you like she's never seen you before. "Would you like a ride home?"
"A what?" You asked in shock. No. Not possible. She wouldn't.
"Well, he is here from –" She whispered. "the future. It has to be important. I have to go see what's going on."
You stared at her in disbelief. She wasn't joking. Nope. Your girlfriend of a very long time that was on a date in the park with you, was going to run off to her ex-boyfriend the second he showed up.
"So," Kara insisted, when you didn't talk for a while. "Ride or –?"
"I'll walk home."
"Oh, cool. See you tonight then."
And then she left.
"I don't know, Kara. I can't just pinpoint it to one moment."
"When was it over for you, Y/N?" Her voice comes out full of anger, so loud it's almost a yell. "When was the moment you knew you'd walk out eventually?"
"I don't know!" You answer in the same tone, with the same anger.
"You're leaving! Gosh Y/N, you're leaving –" Her voice breaks, and it comes in a whisper so easy to hear, the gnawing pain in your heart gets stronger. "me."
"You know it's over. Don't do this now, Kara. We've been growing apart for so long, you'd have to be absolutely out of yourself not to have noticed."
"So you don't even wanna try? Don't wanna talk about it? Won't figure it out?"
"Kara."
She comes closer. One single bold stride towards you, closing the huge distance in half. "What would it take for you to stay?"
And that's when it hits you. You know exactly when it was over for you, and weirdly that brings a smile to your face because it feels good to finally understand why you and Kara Danvers will never work out.
"I needed you to stay." Kara furrows her brows, cleans her tears on her sleeve. "That's when it was over. It was over a little every time I needed you to stay, but you left."
"But –"
"And you kept leaving me, didn't you? Huh."
You think back at all the moments she brought up as a reason to why it could've ended and you realize they all have one thing in common. Kara leaving.
Supergirl, ex-boyfriends, imminent fights, work emergencies, and the list goes on. All of it was always more important or sometimes not important enough. No, she won't stay and have a fight with you, you're not important enough. No, she won't finish that date because Alex called, CatCo called, her stupid ex-boyfriend called. You'll walk home alone and you'll finish that dinner by yourself, you'll wake up to an empty bed and you'll get the dial tone.
You'll think about jumping from really tall somethings, just so you can be an emergency so you'll get her to stay.
"You know, when you said forever, I almost bought it. But the truth is, you were my forever and I was your in-betweens. And I deserve more than that." You breathe out. Finally. You can finally feel the air back in your lungs, in the atmosphere, right in the middle of the distance between the two of you.
"What now?" Comes in a heart-breaking whisper. Kara drops on her knees, face soaked with tears, clear ache in her heart. You're feeling free, but you can tell she isn't feeling the same, and you know it might take her a long while to feel the same.
"Now?" You look back at the door, hand on the handle one more time, ready to go. "Now I'll be the one doing the leaving. And this is what our forever will be like."
And so you're gone.

ʜᴜɴɢᴇʀ ꜱᴛʀɪᴋᴇ ɪɪ - ꜱᴜᴘᴇʀɢɪʀʟ
Tumblr media
Trigger warning! This one-shot includes the topic of an eating disorder, illness and an unhealthy eating behavior. These plots are presented. If this triggers you too easily or you just can´t handle those subjects, I urge you NOT to read this work. I am NOT embellishing this topic under any circumstance. Read at your own risk.
Authors note: Finally a little update on this story, yeay!
You leaned your forehead against the window before the train drove the last few meter into the station, seeking the comfortableness in it while calming your mind in a way. It was already dark when you arrived in National City and you got off exhausted. The nervousness and tension that had steadily increased along the way made your heart beat faster. The recurring dizziness forced you to get a small snack during the stop in Carthago.
A soft sigh left your lips as the native air crept into your nostrils. On the one hand you were happy to return home, but on the other hand you were afraid of it.
The first semester at Aetherford University had passed calmly but with a lot of stress. You had the chance to be mostly left alone by your and avoided engaging with them via video chat. Even Kara had avoided asking for a video call every third day of the week, otherwise she always had shaky hands just to see you again.
You needed this break, you had to think about a few things. A few months ago your body and mind had started playing against you. A trap had formed, which created more and more problems for you and also caused great fear.
At first you thought it was just happening because you were so stressed and everything was new, but it was not. You quickly found that trying to fight back was useless, because no matter what you did.. It got worse.
You were glad you were able to hide it; you did not know much people at university. At least not someone, who would really care. But it was slowly becoming clear to your professor and your room mate that you seemed emptier and weaker.
It started with just skipping breakfast, but over time it got worse. Breakfast turned into meals that were skipped and you started to survive only on snacks. Protein bars, apples, broccoli. Several times you came close to writing to your sisters, but immediately dismissed the idea. You were sure that they would immediately worry and take you out from university to bring you home.
At moments like this you wished Maggie back. The brunette would certainly have known a good solution or advice without telling Alex anything. But you could not ask her anymore, the contact broke apart.
Memories came flooding back of how Maggie and Alex had split up and you saw her boarding a train to another city right here where you were standing now. And even though you have been talked out of the fact that you could have done something about it, you still berated yourself for not at least trying. It had just been, on the whole, a heartbreaking disaster. Not just because Alex wanted to have children back then, no. Alex could not imagine a life without them and was forced to separate from her great love.
A final sigh left your lips and you took one step after the other in agony. Your head hurt and you did not know if it was because you had not eaten and drunk much today or if it was simply because you sat on a train for five hours straight with a baby crying almost non-stop.
But one thing was certain: It could not be because of the many books in the library.
Over the last six months you have been looking for answers and self-help in the library, but unfortunately you have not found any that helped you. Instead, it kept getting worse.
At first it was difficult for you to really take this problem seriously, as it was often unclear or you had suppressed it. It changed quickly, however, and the consequences became clearer and sharper over time, especially since spring.
That is why you were reluctant to let classmates touch or hug you. You also no longer voluntarily sought physical contact. You were afraid that others would be afraid of you.
A loud horn honk pulled you back to the here and now and you saw none other than Alex on her motorbike. You just hoped that the redhead would not get the idea to hug you right away. You did not want to let it happen until you got your illness under control.
"Look who we have here, the missing Danvers!" mocking, her voice cut through the street noise. You closed your eyes briefly and took a deep breath; now it was going to get serious and you had to be careful at everything. "C´mere, kiddo."
You quickly raised a hand in front of your body, and held it in place. "No hugs please. I, eh… pinched two of my ribs and it hurts like hell," you lied and in the same moment you could have slapped yourself for this statement.
Your sister eyed you intently. You looked ill in her eyes and even though she could not see your face directly because of the darkness, she still noticed how pale and tired you looked.
For several months, Alex Danvers wondered what was wrong with her youngest sister. He had noticed the rapid change in you, even when you were miles away. After all, she was not a DEO agent for nothing. And she wondered why you did not talk to her, you always did.
"Well, can I give you at least a kiss on your cheek?" she asked with a slight smile on her lips. You nodded and mirrored her facial expressions. Putting on a mask, a smiling face. A breathy laugh escapes my mouth so she can not see my pain. The redhead quickly leaned down and gave you three small kisses on the cheek before placing a helmet in your hands and gently wrapping an arm around you.
You felt her hand on your shoulder and instinctively wanted to shake it off when she pulled it back on her own to get her keys out of her leather jacket. You knew from her lingering eye contact that she was not satisfied with your previous answer and that she suspected something. Nevertheless, you were glad that she left you alone without forcing any questions on you.

You Used to be Home
Tumblr media
Kara had always been everything you had ever wanted. Lately though you were beginning to wonder if maybe she wanted someone else.
(Y/N)- Your Name
Warnings: Angst, Accusations of Cheating, Depression, Struggle with Self-Worth, Suicidal Ideation
You and Kara had been together since highschool. She had helped you come out of your shell and you were her safe space. Whenever everything became too much she would always come running to you. You were the first person she told about her being Supergirl. At least you used to be the person she'd come running to. Now though it seemed like your spot in Kara's life was being taken over by Lena. You had tried to hate her. You had really really tried yet you couldn't. Despite what people thought of the the Luthors Lena was nothing like them. You understood why Kara had begun running to her. She could understand her better. Lena had lost her entire world too. Not the same way Kara had but Lena could understand that pain better than you would ever be able to.
It had started a couple months ago. It was just small things at first. Kara would forget to call because she got caught up in conversation with Lena. You honestly didn't mind. You were happy Kara had found someone that she was able to relate to in a way you knew you couldn't. You had just wanted the best for her. You would do anything for that woman. Especially after everything she had done for you. She had saved you from yourself.
You had always struggled with your self-worth. You always felt like you weren't good enough. You felt like you were just a background character in everyone's life even your own. It had caused you to spiral into depression. The voices in your head had been so loud. You felt like there was only one way out. The pain consumed every part of you. You felt like you couldn't breathe. You couldn't eat. You couldn't sleep. Yet everyday you would always plaster that smile on your face and put on an act for everyone. Act like your happy cheery self so no one would worry. At night though the mask fell. You curl into the fetal position under your blankets letting the tears stream down your face as you softly sobbed until you eventually passed out from exhaustion.
A humorless laugh fell from your lips. Kara had saved you from that all those years ago. She had waltzed into your life and slowly helped you pick up every piece. Yet here you were again. Crying yourself to sleep every night. Wondering if there's anyone out there that truly cares about you. The person who had saved you was now the one who was drowning. Life really did come full circle huh. You had even tried to talk to Kara about it. You had tried to tell her how far you were falling back into old habits but she didn't have the time. Lena had needed her help. She promised that you both would talk later. You knew better than to hold your breath though. This would just be another broken promise from her.
You went to the bedroom you once shared with her. You didn't feel like you could stay here anymore. It didn't feel like home anymore. You didn't feel safe here anymore. You grabbed a duffel bag and began to pack up all of your clothes. You knew you wouldn't be able to take all of them but it didn't matter. You'd be able to take enough and you could just have someone else come and grab the rest of your stuff for you. You knew you wouldn't be able to step back into this apartment once you left. The pain would be too much.
"(Y/N)? What's going on?" You hadn't even heard Kara come in. You were so focused on trying to just get out as quickly as possible. You didn't say anything as you continued to throw your clothes in the bag. Kara walked over to you an laid a hand on your shoulder. You quickly shook it off. It didn't provide you with the warmth it once had.
"I'm leaving Kara. I know when I'm not wanted. Just go be with Lena. I know it's where you really want to be." You had stuffed the duffel bag as much as you could and zipped it closed. Kara was standing there looking hurt and confused. She didn't understand what was going on.
"(Y/N) darling please. What is going on? We can figure this out. You are who I want. Not Lena." You laughed and turned around to face her. She was shocked at the tears in your eyes.
"No Kara we can't. I'm not who you want. You have made that clear! All those missed nights! All the missed calls! All the broken promises! All the niGHTS I SPENT CRYING MYSELF TO SLEEP! YOU LEFT ME ON MY OWN! YOU ABANDONED ME TO GO PLAY HOUSE WITH LENA!" You had started out calmly but by the end you screaming at her with tears falling down your face. Kara took a step back from you. You had never screamed at her before. Then everything you said hit her and her heart broke. She opened her mouth to say something but nothing would come out. Her mind was traveling a million miles a second trying to figure out how to save this. How to fix what she had broken. You shook your head and picked your bag up. Kara began to panic. How could things be going so wrong. How could she have messed up this bad she watched as you walked out of the room. She wanted to follow yet her feet felt glued to the floor. You had made it to the front door and looked behind you. You knew she wouldn't be there but a small part of you had hoped she would be.
"I hope she was worth it Kara." You said knowing that she would hear you. You opened the door and walked away from the only person who had ever felt like home to you. You weren't sure you would ever recover from Kara. All you did know was that you couldn't stay in this city anymore. You had no idea where you would go you just knew it would be as far as possible from her.

Some BSG finale thoughts from me regarding Lee and Kara (spoilers ahead after cut!)
I didn't mind the ending for the most part, but I am and will always be upset about Lee's ending. Like, at the end once they're on that new planet he ends up having no one left he cares about, which is so sad. Like he wants to explore the planet and all but I know that's something he'd probably like/want to experience with someone else or at least have someone to tell his experiences to. But no, Kara is dead, his father left with Laura, and Dee is also dead.
I wonder what his father did after Laura died because then he'd be alone too. He probably built that cabin she always talked about but he'd be lonely too, I'm sure.
Just like idk, your son has no one left, go back to him. Y'all both lost the loves of your life, bond over it, keep each other company while you grieve. Build a cabin together to commemorate both of them. That's just something I wish they would have done.
But yeah, it just makes me so sad to know that Lee has no one left he really cares about to be with on this new planet. No one to experience this new life with.
And that's part of why I'm so upset about Kara. I would be less upset about her ending if his father had stayed or even if Dee was still alive, but since neither was true, she was the last person he had left that he cared about and she had to leave him too. She was the last to leave him, which hurts so much, especially since I thought it was pretty obvious neither of them wanted that. While yes, she completed her journey by leading the humans to the planet, I don't think she wanted to leave. I think she wanted to stay to experience a fresh start too, I don't think she wanted to leave Lee behind, especially when they had also finally gotten to a point where they could have gotten together with no one standing in their way.
It also gets me when I watch the scene where she's saying goodbye to him, because despite her saying how she's completeled her journey and it feels good, she looks emotional, like she's going to cry, like she doesn't want to be telling him that she's leaving him too.
And while Lee accepts her disappearance and assures she won't be forgotten, memories of her will probably always stick with him and remind him of how he wishes she was still there. I can imagine he maybe makes a grave for her or some sort of memorial, and that he probably often speaks to the sky as if hoping to speak to her, that she can somehow hear him, sharing all his adventures he has to do alone.
He would definitely miss her and I'm sure if he could've had a choice he would have had her stay, for more than one reason. I can just imagine them flying raptors (or vipers, I'm not sure how many of those ships they kept on the planet) side by side as they explore the planet's surface, crossing oceans and forests as they chase each other and mess around, laughing over the radio.
But yeah, that is my BSG rant for the day. And don't get me wrong, I'm not unbearably upset about Kara's ending, just only because of how it affected Lee's. I do wish that she could have stayed and that they could have finally been happy together, or that at least his dad came back to comfort him for a while before he was just left alone with his grief. Like not only was he left alone, but he gets stuck alone with his grief and has to try and cope and comfort himself because he has no one to comfort him, no one to turn to that he knows well anymore.
It just makes me depressed everytime I think about his ending and how it could have been better for him by multiple different ways.

Breakfast
This is for Day 9 of Supercorptober
Fandom: Supergirl
Characters: Kara Danvers, Lena Luthor, Jess
Summary: Lena's plan to "accidentally" run into Kara at Noonan's to try to get to know her doesn't go according to plan.
Word Count: 2,556
Lena stared at the food in front of her and sighed. She had been coming to Noonan’s every morning for the past several weeks in hopes of seeing her. Kara. Her master plan was to spot Kara and casually ask her to sit with her for breakfast. She would then tell her that her companion canceled on her and offer her the extra food that she had. It had been brilliant in her mind when she first came up with it, but now she felt foolish. Each day she came, she sat there looking stupid with food in front of her while the goddess she craved to see never came. The only thing that made her feel better was that the food never went to waste. Her assistant Jess was always extremely happy with the extra food. As she looked around the restaurant one more time, she began to pout.
“She isn’t coming back,” said Lena softly.
As she started to get up, she felt water being thrown on her which caused her to shriek. She looked up and saw a woman with wavy red hair and green eyes giving her an evil glare.
“Luthor scum! Go back to where you came from!” screamed the woman.
Lena tried to control her face, but couldn’t. She was seething with rage.
“I’m scum. You just assaulted me for no reason!” yelled Lena.
“You deserve it with the chaos your brother caused. He destroyed half the city!” screeched the woman.
“I am not my brother!” yelled Lena.
The manager grabbed the woman and started pulling the woman towards the exit.
“You need to leave and are banned from ever coming back. We don’t tolerate this type of behavior in our establishment,” said the manager.
“You are getting rid of me! That evil monster will be the ruin of this place. You’ll see!” raved the woman.
It took two more employees to help the manager throw her out. As the two employees watched to make sure the woman really left, the manager came back to Lena looking apologetic.
“I am so sorry Ms. Luthor. Are you okay?”
Lena looked away trying to control her face. She will be damned if she let them see her cry.
“I’m fine. I think I will just have the check.”
The manager shook her head and said, “Today is on us. Let me take the food back, and I will wrap everything for you to go. I will also put in a dozen of those croissants that you love as well on the house.”
Lena smiled at the manager's kindness and said, “Thank you so much. You don’t have to do all of that.”
The manager smiled and said, “You are one of the nicest customers that I have had in a while. We really appreciate your business and hope that the incident today doesn’t discourage you from coming back.”
Lena smirked and said, “Why would I go somewhere else? You guys make the best pastries in the city.”
The manager smiled as she went to put her order in containers. Lena grabbed a couple of napkins to pat herself down.
“At least she only splashed me with water,” muttered Lena.
The manager was nice enough to walk her to her car which she appreciated. Today was one of the days she was glad that she had installed the private entrance to the L-Corp building. She didn’t want her employees to see her as a wet mess. Once she got to her office, she went to see if she had any spare clothes. She frowned that she only seemed to have her old MIT sweats hanging in her desk drawer. She sometimes kept them here in case she had to stay overnight in the office. Normally, Jess made sure to keep dry cleaning the extra suite she kept in the office in case of emergency. Lena was about to call her through the intercom but stopped herself.
“Dam it! I forgot I gave her the morning off,” muttered Lena.
She slunk into her seat and sighed. Jess had asked her if she could take the morning to move into her new place. Lena had told her yes because she didn’t have any morning appointments that day. She had planned to spend the morning doing light paperwork anyway. She figured that she could field calls for two hours while Jess was gone. But given this morning, she regretted that decision. She just felt like crawling into a ball.
“Maybe, I should call out the rest of the day. I can have Jess reschedule my other appointments this afternoon for tomorrow,” muttered Lena.
She was about to gather her stuff to leave when she heard a knock at the door. She was going to ignore it but went because she thought that maybe Jess finished her moving early. She cracked the door open to peek at who was on the other side. She was stunned. It was her. Kara. She was standing there awkwardly in a bright blue dress that brought out the color of her eyes. Lena opened the door wider.
She stared at her a second before saying, “It’s you!”
Kara stared at her startled, and said, “Oh, you are the birthday girl.”
“Well, I was the birthday girl. What are you doing here?”
“Umm, I was supposed to have an interview with you this morning.”
Lena frowned and said, “I don’t have any appointments this morning.”
Kara stared at her awkwardly and said, “I spoke to Jess yesterday. She said that you would be happy to do it today.”
“Oh really now,” said Lena narrowing her eyes.
“I swear that I talked to her yesterday about this.”

Tumblr media
You woke up at a very unpleasant noise which was surronding you completly as if you were attacked by it. Then something worst rose in you : the pain in your shoulder. You opened your eyes and winced as the ache increased and your vision went clearer, the light dazzled you.
"(Y/N) !"
A figure came at your vision, due to the blind caused by the very bright light of the room it took you a few seconds to recognize the woman beside you. Her red shorted hair, her worrying stare.
"Alex ?"
Your sister had been crying. You could tell because she had got red puffy eyes. You remembered the shot, Lena's voice, her hands on your shoulder. So you were'nt dead ? Or maybe you were and Alex was crying upon your dead body ?
"How bad is it ?" you aksed with a raspy voice. You could speak ! You weren't dead yet it seemed.
"What ?" Alex watched you confuse
"You were crying... am I gonna die or something ?"
Jeez ! the pain killers, they gave you, weren't strong enough to kill the pain but were powerful enough to get you high. Science was puzzling sometimes. Your sister chuckled, voice full of emotion.
"No ! no babygirl you're not going to die. I was crying because I thought i was going to lose you tonight. I'm glad you're okay."
She took your hand in hers and kissed it.
"How's Lena ?" You asked.
"She's fine. She got some bruises, but nothing too serious. She was not allowed to enter here. Only family..."
"But she IS family. You know Alex I love her. She is, she is wonderful. She saved me and i love her."
Alex went silence and looked at you carefully. You could say she was deeply in her thoughts and you were afrait that she wouldn’t approve your feelings towards Lena. Then she said :
« That’s why you have been acting weirdly recently, is it ? »
« Yes… I thought she wouldn’t like me back, she is older, smarter and she is also Kara ´ s best friend. And she is soooo sexy »
Yep, you were high, but your sister didn’t make any comment about your last assertion.
Alex took your hands in hers, squeezing them.
« (Y/N) you are the smartest person I know and i am not kidding ! Plus you are not a kid anymore, even if it’s hard for me to watch you grow up into a beautiful woman, you can date or be with anyone you want. And if Lena makes you happy, don’t think about it twice. We only live once. »
You smiled at your sister, eyes full of happy tears. Her words meant everything to you. You were about to thank her, when the door abruptly opened and a wind blonded storm rushed over you.
« Oh my god you are awake ! »
You were taken in a tighed embrace by Supergirl who didn’t seem to want to let you go.
« Kar’… you… are crushing… me. »
« Oh ! » she pushed herself back « sorry babes… didn’t want to hurt you. »
« It’s okay, you probably broke my ribs but with these amazing painkillers, I will forget about it in a minute or two. »
« She is high. » explained Alex to the blond.
« Yeah I can see that. Babygirl ? »
« Yes my favorite sister ? »
« Hey ! Why is she your favorite ??? » Alex was shocked.
« Because… she is blond and she is smelling like cookies. »
« That’s discrimination ! Fortunatly I know you are too dazzed to really think what you are saying. »
« No actually she is right : I am smelling like cookies because I brought you some, but I was hungry so maybe I ate one or two …or five, on my way… there they are anyway. »
Kara gave you a little bag where a single cookie were packed.
« Are you serious. » whispered Alex at the superhereo
« What ? I was hungry ! »
« That’s so sweet of you Kara ! » you cried and overreacted too smitten by the attention and too high.
« See ? She is happy ! »
« You two will be the dead of me one day. » said the eldest rubbing her eyes.
Then a cough interrupted your conversation. The three of you turned to see Lena at the doorway.
« Sorry, am I interrupting some family reunion ? »
« No, you are a part of it. » responded Kara. « We will… leave you two alone. I believe you have many things to say to each other. »
Kara gave you a kissed on your cheek while Alex squeezed your hand. Then she left Lena and you alone in the room.
« How did you managed to enter, I thought the doctors didn’t consider you as my family. »
« Well, I have my secrets. » she responded with a wink. « Plus, I couldn’t bare to leave you here, alone, and injured. »
This made you shudder and blush as she approached you. You felt her sit on the edge of your bed, you smelt her perfume as she leaned to kiss your forehead.
« I thought you were dead. » The brunette whispered. « I saw the gunshot I… I thought I would never be able to see you again. » her voice was trembling, and you took one of her hand.
« I’m here. Alive. Thanks to you. Aaand maybe thanks to the doctor but, that’s a detail ! »
She laughed. The most beautiful sound you had ever heard on earth.
« How are you feeling ? » Lena asked, worry still painted on her face.
« Well, my shoulder is probably aching but I don’t care, because of the painkillers. They are magic ! It is like, everything could happen, and I dont care» you said.
« Yeah that’s the effect of the morphin… » she smiled.
« Nah ! That’s because of you. Of thanks to you. You are too stunning, like an angel, so the pain doesn’t matter anymore. »
« Jeez, they must have gave you a strong dose ! » but she blushed at your compliment.
« Lena, I may be high, but I am sincere. You are an angel to me. I don’t know why i haven’t told you sooner, maybe it’s because i am a jerk, but I… I have a crush on you. No it is more than that : I love you. You may think it’s too soon to tell or… »
She ushed you with a finger on your lips.
« Darling, you need to breathe. »
« Why the hell are you interupting my love confession like this !? It is mean. » you sulked.
She caressed your cheek with her finger and then poke your nose as she spoke.
« Because, you are not in your normal state and your words are seducing me and I want to kiss you so bad, I may not be able to contain myself if you continue. »
You looked at her in disbelief. She wanted to kiss you ? Of god, you were dreaming right ? And in your state you were persuaded that her kiss was able to heal you. Her lips were just few centimeters away and you couldn’t reach them, since you were unable to move. How frustrating !
« But that’s THE reason I should continue ! I want you to kiss me. »
Where this confident was from ? In your normal state you would never dare to say things like it ! You shyness were too strong. But at the moment, nothing mattered.
« No, love. As i said : You are not in a normal state and kissing you right now wouldn’t be appropriate since you can’t give me properly your consent. »
You were stunned. Lena was so caring. She was perfect. And you wanted so badly that she could kiss you right know.
« But I have a proposition. Why don’t we discuss about all of this : what you are feeling about me, what I am feeling about you, us, around a dinner, when you’ll be out of the hospital. » she said.
« It would be my pleasure. »
« Great ! Now rest darling, I am watching you, no more bad guys will ever hurt you again. »
You closed you eyed, surronded by Lena. Her perfume, her aura, the music of her soul. You were at home.

Goodbye to Ash and Pikachu and all their friends and rivals and everyone we loved so much for so many years! It was a great ride and it was fun to see different takes and concepts and adventures. It was also wonderful to have a series that's realistic in that the main character tries and struggles and fails, teaching kids it's okay to lose, as long as you get back up and continue trying another day.
A show where most of the heroines can have their own journeys, rivals, goals--they're not cardboard cut-out love interests without lives of their own... where women can hold roles similar to the men (Pokemon Champions, regional Professors, etc.), not just relegated to one or two stereotypical roles, things SO many shounen anime aimed at an older audience fail to do.
Thank you for not shaming kids for crying, thank you for comforting and meaningful lyrics (Soko ni Sora ga Aru Kara, Te wo Tsunagou, Smile, etc.).
Thank you for beautiful stories of characters overcoming trauma and abuse, being saved from or escaping bad situations, and shown genuine love and friendship (Chimchar's storyline and especially the Tears for Fears episode, Larvitar's storyline too, even Tepig's story ending with Evolution by Fire), thank you for stories of kids with phobias and repressed memories and all the recovery stories (Lillie, Sophocles...), the episodes dealing with loss (Mallow's mother), and the characters who were traumatized and couldn't fully overcome those fears but still found their place in the world (the Nurse Joy who feared she would drown as a child in The Joy of Water Pokemon and James with his fear of marriage, where even the word "fiance" triggers flashbacks, not to mention the sound of a whip... but he still found a place of belonging with his friends from Team Rocket), kids who were bullied and ostracized in school (Iris, Regina) but found friendship later on...
What a great show!
I got into this show a bit late (after Pokemania ended, because I was too young when it came out to appreciate it, but I still loved and cried watching the first Pokemon movie and the one cassette I had with four episodes, including Todd Snap's first episode--I think that first Pokemon photographer is why I love taking pictures so much!), but I got into it just as I went through big changes (the divorce of my parents) and trauma of my own, so I got very, very attached to the Team Rocket trio (especially Jessie), as they all had such tragic backstories, but they weren't one-note tragic characters who could never find happiness.
Tumblr media
Especially with how Jessie lost her mother very young, being put into foster care by her very poor mother, and spent years being shifted from home to home, every career she pursued ended in failure, until she joined the same gang her mother was in (I don't know if she ever knew that)... but she found true friendship even in a dark place like that.
Tumblr media
I also loved Iris and how she had trouble opening up to others because of what she'd been through; she was also a tomboyish girl who loved nature and didn't mind getting dirty and fighting, but also loved pastels, bows, and dressing up!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also loved Trip and how much he changed from the sweet and happy child he used to be, to someone jaded and cynical and convinced he's an adult (but he's still a child... I also didn't think I was a child anymore at 12), how disappointed he was by meeting his childhood hero again, but also how he began to question what he previously believed and became a better person, even if he'd always be a little distant and awkward and won't be that child again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I loved and related to Lillie feeling sad when her friends spoke about their mothers, when she rarely saw hers, when she lagged behind the others because her mother wasn't around enough to teach her things like how to cut vegetables, but also took credit for her learning things (in her absence!), the way her feelings were devalued if they weren't logical, so she'd insist any emotion she felt was rational or logical... she even named her Vulpix, in the dub, the same name I gave my cat around her age, a cat I had gotten after I'd just recovered from fearing touching cats (despite loving them since I was small, I was scared, after my mother's cat scratched me out of nowhere and scarred my ankle)! Her recovering the last of her lost memories and overcoming her fears was pure catharsis... beautiful to watch. To say nothing of finally finding her father and even being able to embrace a Nihilego as her sister.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love them all so, so, so much.

as someone looking to get into the Supergirl comics, what titles/runs would you recommend? I started reading Tom King's Woman of Tomorrow and didn't think it was that bad (though I never finished it) but seeing people's anger about it makes me think that my enjoyment might be because I'm not familiar with her character before this and thus don't get why it's a bad take on her like what I've seen.
Well, first I should disclaimer that my very loud opinions on Woman of Tomorrow are opinions, lol. I firmly believe that I'm right but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it! You're allowed!
But here are my recs for comics to get into Supergirl that feel...more in keeping with the spirit of the character, imo.
In Continuity:
Supergirl (2005) #34-59: After dying in Crisis on Infinite Earths, Kara came back to the post-Crisis DCU in 2004. For the next four years, she was treated very badly by DCU, who positioned her as a jailbait sexpot "bad girl" who was maybe evil but also totally wanted to date you, 45-year-old cis guy in the audience! Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle's run changed all that, letting Kara be three dimensional and human (well, Kryptonian, but you know what I mean) and not miserable softcore porn 24/7. (They put bike shorts under her skirt and it was wildly controversial.) She gets to smile and be friends with women! It was a breath of fresh fucking air, I tell you what.
Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes: During those years DC was treating Kara like shit, we could at least escape to the future, where Mark Waid and Barry Kitson let her be her best self. This is an ensemble book so it's not totally focused on her, but the whole ensemble is pretty great.
Supergirl (2011): Honestly, I thought the New 52 run was pretty solid. Or maybe it's just less bad than every other New 52 comic I've ever read? Either way, it's an easy jumping-on point. And there are actually female writers and artists involved!!! AMAZING! (In the interest of full disclosure, the 2005 series had a couple of female creators towards the very end - Kelly Sue DeConnick and Amy Reeder each got a couple of issues - but they sadly didn't have a lot of time to do much with the character.)
Supergirl (2016): Cute! Cheery! Too good for this world! This takes a lot of inspiration from the TV show, which was on the air at the time.
Kids Comics/AUs/Elseworlds:
Adventures of Supergirl: This is a tie-in comic to the TV show, but you don't need to be super familiar with the show to read it. And Sterling Gates is back!
Supergirl: Being Super: This is a standalone graphic novel in which Kara, who doesn't know about Clark or that she's an alien, discovers her powers after her friend dies in a tragic accident. It's definitely on the angsty side but in a way that feels relatable and compassionate to me, rather than gratuitous. And it's by Mariko Tamaki and Joelle Jones, so it's fucking stunning, of course.
Supergirl: Cosmic Adventures in the Eighth Grade: This is for kids but it is SO STINKIN' CUTE. Highly recommended.
Superman Family Adventures: Also for kids and I cry happy tears at how precious it is every day.
Not Actually Kara:
Supergirl (1996): So after Kara died in 1985 and before she came back in 2004, there was a completely different Supergirl named Linda Danvers. She wasn't from Krypton, she was a mortal girl merged with a protoplasmic being from an alternate dimension who was also an angel. YES, IT'S BONKERS, AND IT'S GREAT. This series is 80 issues long and it's the best Supergirl comic ever published. I know it's not Kara, but if you only read one Supergirl comic, make it this one.

As promised here’s my long Brettsey post, because Chicago Fire pulled me back in despite my hesitancy.
Okay, to start with, I’m probably somewhat delusional, but that didn’t feel like an open-ended storyline nor closure. It felt like an opening for either a recurring role for Jesse next season or a Kara exit.
They had two chances to give Brettsey closure. At the end of season 10 at the Stellaride wedding and this last episode. Neither happened. Everyone was worried they’d have Matt say that he was happy for Sylvie in her new “serious relationship”. And that he was happy in Portland. Which was totally implied in the season 10 finale. Either they threw that in for the drama of it all or the writers now know something they didn’t know at the time.
Thinking back to Jesse’s exit interviews and Haas talking about the long distance problems and obstacles, it feels like this was maybe somewhat planned out. Outside of the little things like Sylvie losing her phone for a bit in an episode and her and Matt not being able to catch each other at the right time, there weren’t very many obstacles for them in season 10. She went to visit him twice and only when she came back the second time did the problems start to show. Then they broke up in the season 11 premiere. And honestly what main Fire couple hasn’t broken up at least once for the drama? Brettsey’s was different because Jesse left right after they got together. Also, as the anon brought up earlier, Jesse even said he’d pop in once Sylvie got in a new relationship and look what happened, lmao.
Now to the episode itself. Despite how sad the ending was, it gave me more hope than 10x05 did. Which, tbf, while I was more than happy they decided to try the long distance thing, I knew it’d be unlikely to be successful in the long run. They could have used this opportunity to give Brettsey real closure like Haas was trying to do in 9x15 for D@wsey. He just couldn’t get Monica back so he had to improvise by having Matt say he wasn’t in love with her anymore after the phone call. That they weren’t in love with each other anymore. Matt all but admitted he couldn’t move on because he was still in love with Sylvie to Stella.  That’s a big parallel to season 9 when he said being with other people makes it worse. He didn’t have that problem when he hooked up with the reporter after his divorce. Why go this route if there’s no plan to get them back together? I mean I know the Fire writers are cruel but they’re not stupid. Or that stupid anyway. And Sylvie? Poor Sylvie. I think they captured it perfectly. She thought she was moving on until she saw Matt again. Then after the hug? That was it. She knew she wasn’t over him. Showing her crying? Weirdly enough gave me hope. This is all leading somewhere because the easiest thing would have been to give them closure.
This is leading to one of two things, I think. Matt coming back via a recurring role for Jesse. Which seems like the more likely scenario considering the other hints we got with Matt telling Boden that Chicago was home and that a few things had to fall in place to come back, etc. Plus Jesse talking about wanting to come back for appearances but not full time. They could easily have him in a handful of episodes and make it work. Second thing would be a Kara exit. Yes, they’ve written it as she didn’t want to leave for another guy and Chicago is her home. But Matt isn’t just a guy. He’s the love of her life (thank you Wolf Entertainment Twitter for admitting that) and she’s obviously not happy without him. They could have her expand paramedicine out to Portland and become a paramedic out there. She wouldn’t be giving up her career and life for someone else. She’d just be changing location. But this really does feel like more of a set up for a Matt comeback on a part time basis.
Anyway, I’m preparing to be a clown about all of this.

Could you do a oneshot where Jeremiah is back (S2 Ep14) and joins family dinner but with b!d being not so happy to see him again because she was so devastated when she was gone? Maybe Kara or Alex/Maggie/Lena confront him when she runs out the door or something? You can decide how this ends?
Tumblr media
A/n: In this story, Alex and Kara play more as a supporting role in order to focus the oneshot more on the friendship between Lena and Baby Danvers (Reader). That´s why they´re physically mentioned, but do nothing active as talking.
---
"Did you miss me?" asked the familiar voice from across the room and you swallowed hard as every vein in your body filled with a throbbing rage.
When the doorbell rang, you expected everyone but never him. Not your father, who just disappeared from one day to the next without telling anyone. He hadn´t even given you a damn reason and all these years you´ve been racking your brain about the why.
When he left you, you often thought about what it would be like to see him again, but over time, the scenarios in your head changed. At first, you would havee forgiven him as if nothing had happened. You would not have blamed him, but would have fallen into his arms and started crying with joy.
But now, you recognized his selfishness and was convinced that if you would meet him again, you would let him feel my coldness. For him to be consumed with self-reproach, like you had been for a while. But the more time passed, the more you managed to put the pain behind you with the help of your family and found the strength to close this chapter in your life.
Until now, when your wound completely ripped open again.
"You shouldn´t be here." you hissed between clenched teeth and didn´t dare to turn around.
You didn´t have to- heavy footsteps, mixed with the crunching of the wooden floorboards, could be heard and he stood behind you. "Babygirl.. I´m sorry." you tried to calm your hands, which were starting to tremble. Whether with anger or the sadness he left in your heart- you couldn´t quite figure it out. "But now I´m back and everything can go back to how it was before."
You tried to breathe regulary and bit your lip in the process; the pressure leaving a slight metallic taste in your mouth. Why couldn´t you just ignore him? He should get out of your apartment. Forever. You wanted to get rid of him- he was no longer a part of you and never will be again.
"You screwed up." You couldn´t bear to swallow your feelings anymore. You couldn´t go on and tolerate everything he had done, eventually the capacity of lying and cheating was reached.
"Alex could forgive me, then why not you?"
A short laugh escaped your lips and you leaned against the table that you were recently setting. You looked down for a moment, your feet scraping the floor as you just rolled your eyes up and glared at him maliciously. "Alex feels sorry for you. Why else would she invite you to a family dinner when you traded your wife and kids for work? To me, you are just a pitiful piece of misery that abandoned and destroyed his entire family."
Suddenly, there was silence in the room. Not long ago, your mother and Kara had been messing around with dishes in the kitchen, Alex´s attempts to say something between your arguments had died down and the nervous clinking of the rings against the glass of wine, that Lena wore, was gone.
"Do you really want me to go?"
"Yes, I do. Because I don´t give a shit what promises you make. Just because you exist and tell me all these things doesn´t mean they are true. I can say with a high certainty that you will be gone again in the next few months."
You had your arms crossed across your chest, your eyes narrowed and your mouth set in a thin line. You were furious, your blood almost boiling over but grateful that Alex let you talk. To get everything off your chest; she knew exactly how you felt when he disappeared and that you partly blamed yourself for it.
"Well, I´m not going."
You stared at him one more time with disbelief; your eyes boring deep into him so that he had to swallow hard and had to improve his stance. "Then I will go." you skillfully walked past him. "Please, sweetheart." Jeremiah sighed tragically. He managed to grab your arms and clasped your wrist tightly, so that you couldn´t shake them off at first. "Please, take a deep breath. Do you really want to leave?"
Without saying another word, you freed yourself with a quick and strong shake and took a step back from him. You walked away and grabbed your handbag from the bar stool on the way.
Only now did both siblings step in and try to persuade you to stay, but you couldn´t manage to play happy family with this person, who called himself your father, and enjoy the evening with him. You had nothing more to say and at the same time, you didn´t want to know anything more from him.
"Do you know how much damage you did in less than five minutes?" the black haired finally threw into the room with an even deeper voice and glared daggers at Jeremiah; the light color of her eyes turning into a deep dark green. How could one be so damn impudent and bold to enter the apartment with such a sentence. "A damage that was almost impossible to repair years ago, but we still managed to get her through it?"
"Calm down, Luthor. I´ve disappeared to-"
But the older man didn´t get any further chance to speak, Lena interrupted him abruptly; shifting in her seat so that her back could be supported and her arms crossed in front of her chest. "What? To protect? At that time there were other methods of protecting your children, most notably Y/n."
Lena Luthor seemed close to a dropout, despite her calm demeanor. Everyone in the room knew her, knew well that the throbbing vein on her temple and the twitching of her jaw showed, that the window of opportunity to be able to talk to her normally was soon missed.
He just drove her insane. And yet he still had the nerve to look at her quite innocently and confidently.
"This kid had an untold number of sleepless nights where she would show up at my apartment, crying and sometimes drunk because she didn´t know how else to suppress the feelings you left behind."
During the sentence she dropped, she stood up and put her hands on her hips in anger and disgust, waiting for his reply. But none came. Instead, he turned to leave when Lena held him back one last time.
"So often, she had doubted herself as a daughter, was sure she would have been the one who made you disappear because she gave you a hard time as a teenager. You didn´t deserve her as a daughter so do her a favor and don´t show up in her life ever again."

More Pokemon talk, specifically about my OCs/FCs for Shield and PLA. Because that's all I think about nowadays, sorry!
Last post was an outline of events that mostly focused on Kara. This one will be more about her twin sister.
Like Kara, Kahlan (who usually goes by Kay) isn't a trainer. Unlike Kara, she does have Pokemon before the Gym Challenge in Galar. She doesn't participate in the that tournament, or any kind of competition. They just make her life easier, as Kay takes up the role of the PC's mom in all but title/blood. That means making the money so she and her sister can live on their own. Not to say that Kara never did anything before being bullied into the Gym Challenge, but it's much less than Kay's work.
Kay is a homebody and is happy to settle down somewhere. Galar is perfect in her opinion. Has nothing to do with the cute boy next door who just happens to be the champion. Nope. Nada. No, but really, she loves the region. She becomes good friends with Hop and Leon's mom, especially during the GC.
What Pokemon does Kay have? A little male Joltik. He helps Kay make clothes, a job she's been doing ever since she and Kara ran away from their mother. A female Meowstic. She helps with general house chores. A white Florges, who has a "court" of five Flabébé, one of each color. They tend to the garden. A male Machamp (get your head outta the gutter, you >:/). He helps with the yard work the Florges doesn't handle as well as repairs and heavy hands-on tasks. And when he was a Machop and Machoke, he would spar with Kara. He no longer does because he's too strong in his final evolutionary form and doesn't want to injure Kara. She also has a Ditto and a male Zoroark, but they don't have assigned jobs. I'm sure their abilities to transform via Transform and the ability Illusion come in handy, however.
Kay attends every single match Kara has in the stadiums, cheering her sister on. She's very aware how much Kara doesn't want to be doing this, so she's just trying to be as supportive as possible. Sometimes, while Kara is on the road or out in the Wild Area, Kay sends Zoroark to bring her something sweet she's baked, which usually makes it to Kara without being devoured by the messenger. Kara always appreciates it, though she rarely ever said thank you or sent anything back in return, too preoccupied to think about it.
She gets super stressed during the events at the end of the game where Chairman Rose almost recreates the Darkest Day and Kara has to be at the forefront of the fight. Kara and Leon nearly got blasted when the Dynamax energy started going out of control while they were on the field preparing to face off. Watching the events play out is simply terrifying, for obvious reasons, and the only thing keeping her grounded and from having a breakdown is Meowstic, who accompanied her to the show. (Her Pokemon had been alternating who went to the matches with her.)
It's such a relief when Eternatus is captured/defeated and the threat is contained. She runs and hugs Kara so tightly, telling her how proud she is and that she's thankful Kara didn't get hurt. Kara makes a comment on how Leon may have been injured since he was the first on the scene to deal with Eternatus, turning Kay's attention to him and his Charizard. Why'd Kara do that? Two reasons. One, she didn't want to see her sister crying over her. Two, she knows of Kay's crush on Leon and this was light teasing. Leon's flustered by this, which Kay doesn't notice because she's too concerned with his well-being to read social cues.
When Kara becomes champion, Kay is so happy and proud of her. But she's also worried. Their mother pushed her to do this before. That was why they ran. Now what would happen? Would Kara become like their mother? No. Kay predicted her sister's outcome would not be prideful or cruel. Kara wasn't like that. No, instead it would be dark and depressing and withdrawn, much like Kara herself had been when they were younger.
Kay sees it before it even fully starts. Kara skipping meals. Kara late to champion matches. Kara spending too much time alone. Easily agitated. She tries to talk to Kara, but gets shut down, which she expected. She knows her sister wouldn't want to worry her or unload her problems onto Kay. Unfortunately, Kara's actions are causing Kay to worry, anyway.
One night, Kay overhears Kara talking to her Pokemon team. The current champion is thinking about staging a loss so she doesn't have to do any of this anymore. If they don't want to do that, she won't force them, but she can't stay here like this anymore. She'll run away on her own to stop burdening everyone with her existence.
Kay does not like this, obviously, so when Kara leaves the house the next day, Kay calls all the people she knows that care about Kara and demands they come over. It's the most assertive she's been to any of them, so they obey, of course. Piers and Marnie, Hop, Bede and Allister, Leon, and Sonia show up in that order. After discussing Kara, Leon decides the other Gym Leaders should be aware of the situation, which Kay reluctantly agrees to. Her only concern is that her sister might come home to all these people and either run or shut down again.
(Hop also reveals that Zamazenta had recently come to Zacian to talk, and he believes it was for the same reason Kay called them.)
While they wait for Kara to return, Kay goes into hostess mode and begins making dinner for everyone. Her Joltik rides on her shoulder while Meowstic and Zoroark assist. The moment she stops doing anything is when she starts crying. She's a silent crier and doesn't shake unless she's very, very emotional, so she doesn't expect anyone outside of the kitchen to notice. For her safety (Electric and tears don't mix well), Joltik scurries off her shoulder and onto Leon's hat on his head. Of course he noticed, somehow. They'd been neighbors for years and friends for almost as long.
She tries to brush it off, but he won't let her. Bottling up her feelings just because her sister is suffering isn't good for her. She tries to explain that she's not really sure why she's crying. Maybe it's because it seems like she and Kara left home for nothing, that the fate they were trying to escape caught up to them, anyway. She always feared this would happen if Kara became champion. It's what their mother wanted. Kay should've never let Hop talk Kara into participating in the Gym Challenge. She should've done something to keep this from happening. If she had--
No, she can't beat herself up about this. It's not her fault. It's no one's fault, but if it's anyone's, it's Leon's. He saw how reluctant Kara was to choose a Starter and battle Hop, and yet he still chose to endorse her and push her into the Gym Challenge. But this isn't the time to be blaming anyone. They're doing something now. Better late than never, yeah? He's right, of course. Leon hugs Kay until she stops crying, then helps her and her Pokemon finish and serve dinner for everyone.
(By the way, Leon sees Kay as a friend at present. Though he is aware of her crush on him. He's just too busy for a relationship and hasn't given love much thought in his life, what with being champion for ten years and all that.)
They successfully convince Kara to step down from the role of champion instead of running away. Kara goes the extra step and retires from competitive Pokemon altogether. Kay is okay with this. Whatever makes Kara happy makes her happy. It might take a while to find out what that is, however. That's okay. As long as they're together, everything will be fine.
Fast forward two years. One morning Kay goes into Kara's room to wake her up and enters an empty room. She panics. Calls Bede. Kara isn't with him. Calls friends. Not with any of them, either. Looks all over Galar. No trace of Kara. Did she run away after all?
The only things missing--aside from Kara herself--are her camping bag, her phone, and Zamazenta in his ball. Everyone who knows Kara knows she wouldn't abandon her other Pokemon. She also wouldn't have left without a note or a message of some sort. Something happened. Someone or something took her.
Who? What? Why?
These questions would haunt Kay for months, perhaps even years, to come. She tries to hold herself together, but without her twin she feels somewhat incomplete. She puts on a brave face. Then her Ditto thoughtlessly transforms into Kara one day and completely breaks Kay. Zoroark instantly attacks Ditto to the point of fainting them, returning them to their pink putty form. When revived, Ditto is harshly lectured about that appearance. They're not the brightest Ditto, but they know they screwed up and do their best to apologize. Kay remains an emotional wreck for a long time after this, however.
Eventually, Kay goes to a support group for people who have lost a family member and are struggling to cope with it. It's in Unova. Leon and Hop's mom volunteers to keep an eye on Kay and Kara's Pokemon while Kay is gone. Kay brings Joltik with her for support.
She gets lost along the way and ends up running into a man in white. He notices the little Joltik on her shoulder with a smile, though he always seems to be smiling. She asks him for help, using her phone to show him the address she's trying to reach. Along with the address is the name of the event. His smile fades behind his "smile." Despite this, he guides her towards the place.
While they walk, she introduces herself. He gave her his name--Emmet--and not much else. They passed by an advertisement for the Battle Subway, which has Emmet standing alongside a man in black who looks just like him except with a perma-frown. She can't help but stop and stare at it. Of all the people to run into, she ran into a man who also has a twin.
Emmet stops when he realizes Kay's not walking with him anymore and turns to see why she changed course. She asks him about his brother. What's his name? It's several moments before Emmet finally says it. Ingo. She pulls out her phone and shows him an image of her with Kara. He's able to put two and two together (the event was for grieving families, after all) before she starts explaining, though he lets her speak. Her twin sister went missing without a trace several months ago and she's been having a terrible time dealing with it. She wonders if maybe being with Emmet and Ingo could help her. Then Emmet reveals his twin brother is also missing, but he's been missing for about three years. Coincidence? Maybe. But for their siblings to go missing and for them to then meet each other like this...
This leads to a friendship, a partnership, as two twins trying to find their siblings lost in time and space.
And that's all I got for now :D

It is incredible how much love Choskey has for me. I do remember how it felt the first time I was in a relationship. How much I wanted to be my one and only love. With Kara I used to deeply hope it would last forever and I was completely enamored with her. I thought we got along so well that it was just a matter of time before we would be able to live together.
Of course she had a habit of trying out other people. She would constantly break up with me to be with someone else then come back later and at that point it felt like I was just a fallback. And I didn't hesitate to jump to Red when I started falling for him. Honestly it would have been better for Kara if we had gone the open relationship route.
Choskey is experiencing something very similar except with someone who's very experienced with relationships. With Red, with Kara, and with trying and failing to be with someone. It is looking extremely good now and the more people Choskey tells about me the more secure our relationship becomes, although even without that locking in Choskey clearly enjoys being around me in every way possible. Love, lust, someone to play things and spend time together with, someone to share thoughts and feelings with, and even someone to help him whenever he has trouble with school or otherwise.
And the fact that I can just be there on call with him 24/7 is an added bonus. I know most people couples included don't really do that, but this is something we both wanted. Even before we got together Choskey used to complain about how lonely he was when I wasn't there. The can't do things alone part on his bio isn't just for show. And given that he experiences depression on a level similar to Red, I could see why, and why me fulfilling the role of always being there for him is so important.
Cause when you experience depression you definitely experience it more when you're alone, or feel alone, and your thoughts wander more in the negative direction, often getting exponentially worse with time. By me being there that time gets reduced significantly, and I'm a shoulder to cry on if the need ever arises, but more importantly I'm always there to distract, I'm always there to have fun with or share things that would otherwise go unvalidated, and that definitely helps.
He loves me "too much", in other words we've stopped holding ourselves back when it comes to our feelings. And he is over the moon because of me. I offer hope. I offer a future where we continue to enjoy ourselves together but get to experience the real life/physical contact part of things too, even if some of it is limited by the ace thing. And to someone who is unsure programming would be for them, unsure their life mattered, wondering if his family would be better off without him there, I am everything to him. Me and Red. I also offer insight and advice and thoughts on how to actually get his career off the ground and if I wasn't there to curve his pessimism there likely would be no chance of it moving forward.
I am needed on every possible level. And I deliver pretty reliably too. And in return my own life is given purpose. Beyond just the pure bliss that comes from being loved in return so receptively by my crush, it suddenly no longer matters that I'm not coding games like I planned among other things. It suddenly doesn't matter we haven't been hanging out with our pack anymore. Everything about my old life from furry cons to going out to social events doesn't matter anymore. Because I am experiencing happiness elsewhere. I am experiencing a thriving social life in vrchat and in discord that I never thought I would have that doesn't require me to wait forever for Red to feel social again. And on top of that I have Choskey's friends and family that become part of my social life. And I'm so much more connected now. I'm so much less alone now because of Choskey. And everything I experience matters so much more now because I am loved and cared for. Choskey does his best to be a good boyfriend for me and he's extremely good at it. Even the effort alone I likely wouldn't have experienced were it anybody else. Anybody who was more normal, less needy, less likely to be on call all day like we do, or more experienced and more focused on other things besides making me happy.
Red in particular is more the normal. He used to call me on breaks when he was stuck in UT. But we wouldn't stay on a call we wouldn't try to sneak in time like that during work. Because Red does everything by the book. It is part of his personality, and duty, rules, and proper work ethic is more important to him than most other things. And he steered away from joining me on Twitter in the public side of things, enough that it made me look bad when I... tried to be social on it. Moreso than it would have been if he was a little less uptight and private.
Choskey hasn't used Twitter much either before me but he gave it a try because of me. He is willing to do most things with me that Red wouldn't even give a chance because of how he is. And that in turn gives me more credibility on social media. Gives me a stronger position. Not that I need it anymore. But it would be very helpful if I ever got cyber bullied again. Though I'm also not sure what I would be cyber bullied for anymore. Even after years of Choskey and Red I highly doubt I'm going to having any other crushes. Choskey rather thoroughly covers my emotional and activity needs that Red wasn't able to and ironically my sexual needs as well despite being ace. Though I'm not sure how easy it will be to masturbate when we start living together xP It will be interesting.
Choskey's bottom energy is also something I never experienced before him and it is a very interesting and exciting experience. With him begging me to ravage him or saying a lot of suggestive things whenever he's horny, which my voice alone makes him horny xD It is achingly impossible to remain soft. And that's enough for me.
As far as actual sex goes. I know me and Red have stopped doing anything. But at the same time I know how physically demanding it is for him tearing his lips over me with no guarantee I'll even get off. There is a lot of mental activity during the act that makes it difficult to get off when he's on me, not to mention he's not that great at what he does. And there is the added issue of me jerking off all the time that makes me rarely if ever pent up. And orgasm denial that Red often does to me doesn't fix it. And whenever there is a promise we'll return to it we don't. I know for a fact that if I got denied I am clear to take care of it myself. But yeah I do think a lot. Whether I try harder to get off to whatever I'm feeling or hold back doesn't seem to matter.
I do know for a fact that I wish I could experience what other people experience when it comes to sex and that would likely do it, but I don't have options. Choskey isn't going to cover that either, no matter how unhinged or lustful he gets when he's horny to the point he would let me "do whatever I want to him" I know for a fact that's not actually true. But even if he won't cover that either, the fact that he can excite me in other ways and Red doesn't even try is already something he can cover better than Red.
Red is the sheer definition of abstinence. I have to push him in order to get anything. And it's always been that way. So Choskey is definitely a breath of fresh air. And the fact that he is constantly trying to get Red to love him back and make him part of our relationship is another huge plus. Red needs happiness. In ways that I have had a very difficult time getting through. Whether it's gunfire reborn, or lol, or risk of rain or a bunch of other games, Red usually says no to them. And I'm more likely to stop trying. Choskey is always trying. Even if so far that has had an extremely low success rate because of how busy Red is, the fact that he's trying while I'm not is a benefit for Red that he wouldn't otherwise have. Choskey is persistent, and very good for both of us. Choskey is what will keep our relationship flourishing and offer me a social life that Red has stopped having any interest in. Red's life is swallowed by work. My life is not. It is Red's sacrifice that makes it possible and on some level it is the only thing that makes him feel purpose. Makes him feel needed. Inventing, crafting, art, programming, job security, the ever tempting life of an entrepreneur is how Red bases his life. I would have a difficult time living the way I do if I constantly had to worry about laundry, dishes, etc, and Red not only does it for me but wants to. It is difficult however to find activities, to find time to watch or do anything. Red gives up too quickly or forgets to reinstate any activity we start. Choskey's persistence will at least show continuous support for him that I would otherwise not do because of the low success rate and availability.

When Kara is feeling particularly depressed, she streams Big Little Lies on Lena’s Hulu account and marvels at the complexity of human emotions. As the plot unravels she, along with the characters, alternates between laughing and weeping, brief joy and deep sadness, and relates to every single one of them.
When she is happy, she takes her pick from the Real Housewives franchise- New York City is her favorite -and marvels at their silliness, their frivolity, and enjoys the simplicity of her current life before it is swept from under her by another disaster.
When Lena knocks on her door, Kara is watching Big Little Lies. She x-rays through the wood, sighs and pauses the show before getting up. She looks at herself in the mirror, wipes her cheeks where they’re pink and stained with tears. She’s pretty when she cries, she thinks. Crying is so human, so vulnerable, so complex. You can cry for no reason. You can cry for many reasons and not know any. You can cry with somebody or alone.
I don’t want to be alone anymore.
It’s a sudden thought. For years she was fine with things the way they were, and now, looking into the mirror and wiping her tears, an unexpected certainty looks back at her. She doesn’t want to be alone anymore.
Opening the door is like an out of body experience. She imagines she is a character in the tv show, a complicated human woman who is in love with an even more complicated human woman. She imagines she is keeping little lies from this woman she is in love with, her best friend. She imagines those lies are small on their own but, if stacked together, make one big giant lie that she might not be able to come back from.
She imagines the camera panning in on her face just before she shapes her mouth into a smile.
//
“Can I ask you something?” Lena asks.
A giant bowl of half-eaten ramen is on the coffee table, because it’s just that kind of day. Kara’s head was resting on Lena’s shoulders, and now it’s on her thigh, and soon enough it’ll be somewhere else. Maybe nuzzling her stomach- Kara likes the idea of that.
“This is like, the fourth time since I gave you my Hulu account that you’re rewatching this show.”
Kara blinks bleary eyes at the television, paused on the ridiculous frame of Madeline tumbling down a cliff side with a bunch of puppets.
“I like to watch it when I’m sad,” she explains. “It’s comforting. Alex says that makes me borderline psychopathic.”
Lena hums. “I like to read this book I have on the history of urinalysis when I’m upset.”
“That’s so random.”
“Centuries ago physicians had to taste urine to determine its glucose content, and now look at us, using dipsticks like a civilized bunch. We’ve come so far. It makes me feel better.”
“I get it. Still weird, though.”
“Yeah,” Lena chuckles. “I know.”
Kara touches her own cheek, feels the dryness of it. “Nicole’s character, she has this line- she says, ‘I’m trying to decide whether I’m happy or sad.’ I feel like that a lot, you know. Like I can’t tell.”
Lena ghosts her finger down the bridge of Kara’s nose. “You said you watch the show when you’re sad.”
Kara nods, careful not to shake off Lena’s touch.
“You’re sad now. Why?”
Kara sighs, tries to lie, but looking at Lena- she just can’t get herself to do it. Sometimes, on particularly bad days, she barely restrains herself from climbing the tall statue in the city square and shouting out her identity for anyone willing to listen.
“Because I want things I can’t have,” she whispers.
“What else?”
“Because…” Kara stares at the bright lights on the ceiling, a tell-tale throb starting at her left temple. Better it than whatever was happening to her chest when she was looking at Lena. “Because my mom told me I was meant for great things, but I still feel so small.”
Lena cups Kara’s cheek. “What else?”
“Because…” Kara rubs her eyes, fresh tears stinging again. “I don’t belong anywhere. Because I’ve never been loved for who I really am.”
“I love you.”
Lena’s hand is wet with Kara’s tears but she keeps it there on her cheek, steady and warm and unmoving. Kara’s lips twist and Lena plows on determinedly.
“I love that you try to open up to me, even if it terrifies you- even if I don’t know why it makes you so terrified. I love you when you disappear for weeks and I love you when you’re at my office every single day. I love that you stand up for everyone, no matter whether you thought you could win or not. I love that you have an alarm reminding you to nap but not one to wake you up. I love when you laugh before you realize you're laughing, when it’s loud and full and funny. Is that not who you really are?”
Kara tilts her head to find the soft skin of Lena’s inner wrist with her lips and shrugs. “I like that it’s who you think I am.”
“I think that you belong,” Lena whispers, laden with meaning. “I think that you belong somewhere.”
Kara cries against Lena’s hip, into the palms of her hands- maybe she does. Maybe she could.
