tfw you have a messy breakup in (the equivalent of) your early 20s and didn’t want to talk about it and now 400 years later everybody has gossipy opinions on it
honestly the best moment in the woman who fell to earth is when Yaz and Ryan are tasked with operating a crane by the doctor and they have to youtube it to work out how. So underappreciated. So realistic. Of Course they'd go on youtube to work it out and of course there's be a video on there telling people how to work a crane.

I'm still in the Hamlet frame of mind after THE DEATH I GAVE HIM, so we're keeping that going! This one came highly recommended by a Trusted Friend (beloved). Apparently it does some Weird and Neat Shit with POV, which is also exactly up my alley.

I'm sorry, and I say this as someone who loves a lot of books with an accidental pregnancy in them, but like...
If you're writing a contemporary romance set in the now times, and your heroine gets knocked up in like a one night stand, and she isn't like, specifically crazy and attempting to get pregnant by a random, if she's genuinely not at all trying to get pregnant or planning on a pregnancy...
I'm not saying you have to have her consider an abortion, but the idea of her being like "this is all hunky-dory", even if she wants a baby in the long term, is INSANE
Like... in this economy? In this current world? In a reality wherein even if you don't typically support abortion, you know you can't have one even if it threatens your life depending on where you live? Not second-guessing your accidental pregnancy or having negative feelings at all is INSANE and to me it makes your heroine unrelatable, even if she was knocked up by a random billionaire who later swoops in and takes care of her
I mean, I know someone who recently got pregnant by accident, and she was with a man she was planning on marrying and kids with in the long term, they lived together, they had a dog together, the proposal was discussed and right around the corner... and she wasn't happy and she wasn't immediately sure she was going to have it. She decided to in the long term, but she was like, SOBBING when she found out. Because it's a big deal and even if, after some contemplation, you're super happy about having the kid, it's at min OVERWHELMING.
i made more than one anniversary goal this year since it will be my/the 10th anniversary and i came up with too many ideas i liked
i'm still working on the other 2 and tbh probably won't get to one of em (which is fine) but i did get the biggest one already which i am very pleased with
anyway i will probably carry the scroll case sling around my lair putting it on absolutely everyone due to excitement but for now, bateleur looks great with it
Hello! A question about Juni! How does she feels in relation to her "mother"? Thanks!
She has asked Tony about it once or twice when she could start comprehending other kids had mom’s and she didn’t. He didn’t get into too much detail so she wouldn’t feel sad, he only fully had to explain it after grandma katrina kept trying to hassle them and he had to chew her out in front of the poor kid (he went full protective dad mode)
After that incident she’s never thought about it much, she knows Dina’s name but at this point at she understands the custody deal her parents had and doesn’t really have much of an interest in attempting any contact. As of now she doesn’t really care about her existence though (not out of bitterness) shes perfectly fine with her Dad and her goofy ass step-dad who happens to be a werewolf 😂
I like to think on “mothers day” as a kid she gives Val a gift and is like “it’s not mothers day for me! it’s werewolf dad day!” and he just about ugly sobs at this darling kid who see’s him as another dad 😂🥲
One of Hello Future Me's videos on revolution brought up an event from the Philippines back in the 80s: the dictator sent a battalion to crush a supposed revolt, only for the soldiers to be met with nuns and children offering food and water. The majority of the army defected as a result
I'm going to use rwby to try hammering this abstract concept into a coherent thought, but this incident got me thinking about how nonviolent protest is theater
If a similar event were to occur in rwby, for it to be successful, the protestors would have to be the cutesy faunus types: rabbits, cats, dogs, and the like because they're non-threatening. Attacking a sweet cat faunus would be akin to attacking a child or nun, paragons of innocence and virtue respectively. Only a monster could cut them down, and no one wants to be seen as a monster
A scorpion faunus, though? Their mere existence is a threat. That tail is dangerous, a weapon available at all times. Bull faunus have horns they can use to gouge out eyes and organs. Claim they attacked and most people would agree that killing them in self-defense is justified
Because nonviolent resistance relies on public perception, people who could possibly taint the image of the movement will get left in the dark no matter how important they are. Bayard Rustin was the one who taught Dr King about civil disobedience and was an organizer for many major events, but he opted to ride to events in the trunk of people's cars so his status as an openly gay man wouldn't harm the movement's image
There would be little wonder why the White Fang would be more popular with the "scarier" faunus. Public perception is already against them, so it's not going to change much for them if they join a violent organization, but this in turn will be seen as justification for discrimination against these types of faunus. A hellish self-perpetuating cycle
These faunus would also be far more likely to experience violence at a much younger age, akin to how black children are treated as adults even if they're literally six years old
The strategy behind nonviolent protest like the ones Dr King did is to show the world the mistreatment of the innocent, but when your existence is deemed a threat, there's little hope that you'll ever get enough support to change the system. This is why bigots constantly spew the "queer groomer" and black crime "statistics": by portraying someone's freedom as a danger to the innocent, any level of violence is justifiable defense. The police aren't attacking queers, black, and brown folk discriminately, they're attacking dangerous criminals, so it's okay!!1!
Theater can't save those already condemned and to try is wasted effort
Okay, I leveled a Favonius Sword for Jean and will be testing it on her for the next little while.... My main concern is that it dropped her ATK from 22k to 17k and I know her heals scale off ATK, so I'm not sure it's entirely helpful to be able to burst off cooldown if her burst does not yoink poor glass-cannon Eula up from 'dying' to 'full health' as it usually does. XD;; But her team is my usual Apep team, and that's where her low energy recharge hurts most of the places I usually use it, so I'll test things out on him to start with!
This is...a really nice moment, given how Hadrian is treated by the larger UC. How she was cast aside because they're embarrassed by what they asked her to do, her father, etc. I'm sure she's no more popular in the Collective, which must sting.
These two really are exact opposites in every way, but also extremely similar in rebelling against what they felt they were supposed to do.
Given Sam's reaction to the UC generally (understandable), I'm glad he stepped up and reached out like this. If even Hadrian's own side treats her like the ambassador does, giving her name anywhere in Freestar space must be terrible. But they both know how a name preceeding you can change everything.
It's also very sweet that this is where he decided it was time to get serious with his Great Serpent worshipping partner lmao. Doctor Tycho's gonna need to change his last name soon, I think.
